Oh the high pitch sound effects for the electric powers they're introducing now in Zou are painful to listen to. It sounds like someone took the chirping Chidori sound effect and added a touch of nails on chalkboard to spice it up. And it's being played all the time, along with flashing lights. How did the One Piece sound editors not get stressed out of their skulls having to deal with this carpet of urgently unpleasant sounds? Thoughts and prayers. Also a bit of hate. Because they've hurt me personally with their creative choices.

The electro stuff seems to be central to this arc so I might actually have to switch to the manga now.

While I'm complaining: I need to mention that the sound effects used for eating and swallowing, especially when someone drinks from a bottle, also make me want to throw something at the screen. I'm probably experiencing more sound sensitivity (and aggression) than I normally do because I've had this show running non stop for days. If Luffy speaks with his mouth full one more time I'm going to scream louder than Usopp (who is on very thin ice btw, can someone, anyone to just knock him unconscious so he stops?)

Sometimes, I think about the complexity of everything I've ever known. Like even stuff we take for granted. Computers are the obvious easy example, but I think paper is so much more boring. Standard boring 4A Paper is not just one person's masterpiece; it's a thousand masterpieces, the life's work of countless people. Sure, it's mundane, boring, and simple now. But the journey that it took to get your random piece of paper is grander, really, than any journey I've been on. It gets harvested, goes through a variety of different factories, gets packaged multiple times, occasionally in very different locations. Gets shipped, sometimes across the world, to get yet another package, and even then, it still has to be distributed. A lot of it is automated, but not everything is, and there were times when people had to do quality control on individual pieces of paper. Paper comes pre-loved, packaged, sealed, and loved. As does everything else that you have ever known. It goes beyond what's man-made, as well. If you find a random rock on the side of a road, an individual grain of sand on a beach, you've found something that has been cared for, that's been treasured. The world is lived in. We've been here for a long time, and even before us, I genuinely believe sentimentality has, in some form or another, existed. Maybe that sand was treasured before it was sand, maybe after. If a bear lives in a cave all its life, through unlikely circumstances or not, do you truly believe it feels nothing for that cave? Of course not; that cave is home. That bear doesn't want to leave, will do all in its power to stay. It treasures its home. That's why sometimes I get upset when people lament the mundanity of the world. We stand on the shoulders of giants and complain that the world looks small. The world is filled with wonder still, more so than ever before. If only you would open your eyes to it, you would see. I know it's easy to acclimate to the world, to get bored. It's safer to numb yourself to the world. They can't hurt you if you don't feel. But that's a hollow way to live. I wouldn't wish that life on my worst enemies. All the worse then that it's so common. I don't know. Maybe I'm the weird one
