Sometimes, I think about the complexity of everything I've ever known. Like even stuff we take for granted. Computers are the obvious easy example, but I think paper is so much more boring. Standard boring 4A Paper is not just one person's masterpiece; it's a thousand masterpieces, the life's work of countless people. Sure, it's mundane, boring, and simple now. But the journey that it took to get your random piece of paper is grander, really, than any journey I've been on. It gets harvested, goes through a variety of different factories, gets packaged multiple times, occasionally in very different locations. Gets shipped, sometimes across the world, to get yet another package, and even then, it still has to be distributed. A lot of it is automated, but not everything is, and there were times when people had to do quality control on individual pieces of paper. Paper comes pre-loved, packaged, sealed, and loved. As does everything else that you have ever known. It goes beyond what's man-made, as well. If you find a random rock on the side of a road, an individual grain of sand on a beach, you've found something that has been cared for, that's been treasured. The world is lived in. We've been here for a long time, and even before us, I genuinely believe sentimentality has, in some form or another, existed. Maybe that sand was treasured before it was sand, maybe after. If a bear lives in a cave all its life, through unlikely circumstances or not, do you truly believe it feels nothing for that cave? Of course not; that cave is home. That bear doesn't want to leave, will do all in its power to stay. It treasures its home. That's why sometimes I get upset when people lament the mundanity of the world. We stand on the shoulders of giants and complain that the world looks small. The world is filled with wonder still, more so than ever before. If only you would open your eyes to it, you would see. I know it's easy to acclimate to the world, to get bored. It's safer to numb yourself to the world. They can't hurt you if you don't feel. But that's a hollow way to live. I wouldn't wish that life on my worst enemies. All the worse then that it's so common. I don't know. Maybe I'm the weird one

Okay, so I saw a lot of Peter should be in this show or that show, but y’all are thinking too small kittens. He should be in the trashfire that is American//Horror//Story. No, no, listen! Listen! That show is bad, but it has a lot of good ideas executed so horribly that each time there needs to be one or two good actors (we all know who the main one was during the first 4 seasons) to steal the scenes and elevate it to make you think “Huh… this is actually good...” until some shit happens and you go back to bashing your head against the wall. I want him to do his thing and just cause mischief. The fan favorite little asshole. He’d be perfect. And in this 300 page essay I will elaborate further…

I realize that Ranpo's parents were trying to give him a 'normal childhood' so he didn't get conceited or whatever, but seeing what it did to him I can't help but dislike them for it. He's completely unprepared for the world, so much so that he cannot understand anyone outside of the two of them. Did they just keep him sequestered on a farm totally away from the world? We know they told him he was no different than anyone else. They were probably telling him that any time he came close to realizing what was going on himself, gaslighting him just to maintain that dream of a 'normal childhood.'
And when all this in Origins goes down he's fourteen. In Japan that's when you can choose to continue on to high school or legally move out and get a job. When, exactly, did they plan on telling him he was different? At what point would it be ok for him to handle his own mind? He's too old to adjust by the time he's forced to - and he's forced to by their deaths. His parents didn't even have a contingency plan for him if they died. No note saying "oh so, just fyi, you're way smarter than everyone else," just a vague mention of a police academy that didn't even work out because they hadn't prepared him for it.
His parents had 14 years to actually teach him how to exist in society as a genius, because they knew how, but they ran from that responsibility and nearly crippled him in doing so. It takes Ranpo twelve years to recover from the amount of time they kept him from the truth, and he suffers a lot and becomes more conceited than ever as a result of their negligence. He has to grow up all over again because they made it impossible to grow up when he was actually supposed to do it.
Anyway this is a Ranpo's parents hate blog.

Honestly I think my most unpopular opinion is that I find vertical videos ugly as hell. Partly because I hate tiktok culture but also because they're literally just ugly and annoying.
All my videos will be in landscape mode until the day I die.

Everyone I've ever dated has super powers. (Except Hawkeye.) - Dennis Hopeless/Spider-Woman Vol 5 5
Kind of pissed with this quote. Both because it is completely inaccurate - who does Hopeless think Jess has dated???? - and also because it places significance in Jess dating Clint THAT IS NOT THERE. Actually - unless we are counting Carol - I don't think Jess has dated anyone with superpowers. Like I can’t think of one person with superpowers that Jess dated, while she has definitely had non-super powered boyfriends who felt emasculated by her powers.

i argue rhaenyra was always in her kissing girls era (i see you boo, you're not kidding anyone) but alicent was in her "i-need-male-validation" era for twenty years... which i understand, i'm sympathetic, but girl rip lmaoo
definition of could've had it all !!!
alicent after a week of getting kicked out of her own small council to later finding out that rhaenyra is finally in her girl kissing era ten years too late and over 300 miles away

The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. People are self-censoring sex to seggs and $3× but every other ad you see is still filled with half-naked women. Rightwingers want queer people arrested for so much as existing in the same postal code as a child and are also drumming up a moral panic about how teenage boys aren't getting laid enough. I feel like I'm losing my mind.
