There are certain fandoms that I’m kinda part of where I have absolutely NO idea whats happening. The lore? A mystery. The characters? Unknown. The fandom culture? None of my business.
But the ART. Awww man the ART is beautiful!! I can look at that all day! Somehow these fandoms keep pumping out the most gorgeous masterpieces I’ve ever seen in my life and I get to see them for free!!
Keep drawing those Hatsune Miku’s and Chappel Roan’s and that gay archivist guy I don’t know the name of!! I am EATING IT UP EVERY TIME!!
#also mogswamp#I keep seeing art of him and I think he’s a Minecraft guy#but he always slays#anyway#if you see me reblogging a bunch of art for fandoms I’ve never mentioned or shown any interest in#it’s probably just because I’m only in it for the art lol#the most that I know about hatsune Miku is that she’s a vocaloid program#and that’s literally it#but I’ve been admiring her from afar for years now and I’m not planning on stopping any time soon#thank you fan artists

Sunflower Sorrow - A Hanahaki Tale
A/N: Thank you so much @actuallysaiyan for making the pretty banner! And for reading my drafts and reassuring me multiple times that the story wasn't garbage.
All original artwork is credited at the bottom of the post.
Pairing: Higuruma x Fem!Reader
Warnings: 18+, MDNI, mentions of pain and death, PIV sex, clitoral and vaginal fingering, oral (fem receiving),
Summary: The reader finds herself infested with Hanahaki, right at the cusp of beginning to date her long time crush.
Higurma Masterlist
Your eyes open blearily against the sunlight pouring in, feeling like you’d much rather stay in bed than anything else. There’s a strange feeling in your body, almost like you’re about to come down with the flu, your chest feeling tight, and your throat feeling dry. Which is strange because you were fine when you went to bed.
You groan as you roll over under the covers. Now was not the time to be getting sick. You wonder if you’re even well enough to go to work. Almost instinctively, your hand reaches for your phone, squinting against the backlight as you check your messages. A smile graces your face as you see a text from the man you had been out with last night.
I know this was just our second date, but I’m already thinking about a third. I’ve enjoyed our time together recently and would like to see you again. I guess get back to me? Oh, and I hope kissing you good night was appropriate. 😅
“Hiromi,” you mumble under your breath, feeling a rush of happiness flow through you as you read his text. The man was incredibly sweet and transparent and you loved that about him. Dating in your thirties was hard but he had given off some very positive signals over these last two dates and you couldn’t help but want to set up a third one quickly. You liked being around him, he was laid back and almost goofy, traits that most men seemed to lose at a certain age. Maybe if you recovered from this flu fast enough you can meet up with him over the weekend.
I’d love that. I’m a little under the weather right now but if I’m feeling better by the weekend we can make plans? I’d like to see you again too. And yes, the kiss good night was totally appropriate. 😊
You text him back, heart fluttering as you hit send. You’re glad you had finally bitten the bullet and asked him out. There were signs of interest, but you had been secretly admiring him from afar for the better part of a year now. He was very gentlemanly, opening doors, asking if he could hold your hand, and checking in on your comfort while you were with him. A lawyer turned sorcerer, he talked passionately about his past cases and the interesting events that sparked his path into Jujutsu. On the first date, the both of you had been so wrapped up in conversation it took the poor waiter a minute to get a word in edgewise to ask if either of you had wanted another glass of wine.
He was so impossibly handsome, the thick black hair and rich mahogany eyes, that crooked smile that came onto his face when he was amused by something. It was a wonder how he was still single. Just passing by him in the hallways made your heart pound, so sure that his greetings to you were just platonic and nothing more. There were so many other talented people in this institution, that you didn’t possibly think he could have any interest in you, convincing yourself those brief glances he gave you were imagined.
But after last night’s kiss…so soft and patient, the lingering of lips, his large hands resting courteously on the small of your back, resting his forehead on yours, unwilling to let you go. Your hand had gripped the lapel of his coat, his scent flooding your senses, something woody and spicy that made you want to bury your face into his neck. Sure it’s only been two dates, but you couldn’t help but imagine what your life could be like with him. It felt like a guilty pleasure admitting it to yourself, but it wasn’t hurting anybody. It’s not like you were clawing at his door begging to move in with him. You were just really attracted to him, smitten, perhaps was the right word.
A small ding from your phone shows a response from him.
I’m sorry you’re not well. Yes, please get better soon, and let’s plan something for the weekend. I totally wasn’t waiting for your text by the way. You just happened to catch me on a break. 😉And I’m glad the kiss was appropriate.
His text makes you giggle. How could someone be this adorable? The lucidity of his intentions was refreshing, with no awkward back and forth of painfully crafted messages trying to sound casual. He was making his interest plain, making it easier for you to let down the wariness of sounding too eager. It was a pleasant change of pace compared to some of the other dates you had been on. You hoped this would go somewhere. You wanted it to go somewhere…
A sudden coughing fit overtakes you, racking your body as you feel something come up your throat. You reach for a tissue from your nightstand…and then look dumbstruck at what falls into it.
You stare at the yellow flower petals, each about an inch long, covered in pale pink mucus. A feeling of dread and anxiety fills you and you crumple the tissue, trying not to think about what you just saw. Your brain races. What could it be? Cancer? Was there a cancer that made your insides turn into tapered flower petals? Or maybe those weren’t flower petals but a tissue of some sort? The feeling of tightness in your chest gets worse. Maybe a visit to the doctor’s wasn’t a bad idea.

Shoko places your X-rays against the lightboard and frowns. You’re no medical expert but even you can see what the problem was. You stare at them with morbid curiosity.
“Are those…?”
“Sunflowers, it looks like,” Shoko confirms, the large circular flowerheads unmistakable. “And they’re growing very fast. Your lungs will burst if they keep up at this rate.” She throws away her gloves and looks thoughtful.
“It’s strange how recently a lot of Hanahaki cases have popped up. We had Nanami in here a few weeks ago with the same thing.”
“And Nanami is in perfect health,” you interject, hoping Shoko is about to tell you a cure. “What is it? A pill? Surgery?”
Shoko purses her lips and then faces you. “Hanahaki can be removed surgically. However, you’ll lose whatever feelings you have for the person that caused it.”
Feeling like you’d been doused with a bucket of ice water, all you could say was, “Oh.”
“But you’re dating Higuruma, aren't you?” Shoko asks.
“It’s only been 2 dates,” you admit. “But it’s going well.”
Shoko’s expression remains impassive but she continues in a gentle voice. “But it’s obvious you’ve wanted him for much longer than that. The size of these flowers…How long have you loved him?”
Your chest tightens uncomfortably, this time not just from the flowers. “Who said anything about loving him?”
“The flowers don’t grow unless it’s love. But it looks like they were growing slowly and then when you started dating, your feelings intensified and caused them to bloom faster. Hanahaki rates vary from person to person depending on the level of emotions involved.”
A nervous ripple passes through your body at the thought. You remembered the way you had yearned for him after the kiss but were worried about scaring him off. Who confessed their love for someone on a second date?
“Is there any way to slow it down?”
Shoko shakes her head no. “The only thing that helps is when they return your feelings. Romantically.”
“I see.” There’s a moment of silence before you double over as another coughing fit grips you, a blob of red and yellow falling into your hands along with a few black and white sunflower seeds.
“Couldn’t you just tell him?” Shoko helps you get up to the sink in the examination room. You wash your hands and spit out the flower petals that are stuck in your gums. “I mean, he wouldn’t be dating you if he wasn’t interested.”
“You don’t tell a guy you love him after two dates!” You wipe your mouth and grip the counter trying to think. You glance at the X-ray, wondering.
“How long do I have?”
“It’ll worsen over the next few weeks now that the plants have started to bloom. Beyond that…it’s difficult to say. The more time you spend with him and he doesn’t say he loves you, it’ll only accelerate the process. You’ll feel little moments of relief, followed by an even stronger relapse.”
For the first time since this morning, you felt genuine fear. What if Hiromi didn’t feel more for you? What if after a few more dates he decided you weren’t what he was looking for? Were your only choices waiting for him to love you back or to have your feelings surgically removed?
“Am I going to die from this?” The words leave your throat in a whisper. Shoko flinches and appears to struggle with how to word her response.
“I hope not. I hope for your sake he does feel the same way.” Shoko hesitates before continuing. “I don’t want to alarm you but…if it truly becomes critical, have you considered having a plan of action?”
A tense silence passes between you both as you weigh her words. “I hadn’t. But…” You consider the words. “Is it worth dying for love, Shoko?”
“I can’t answer that for you. I can only say that I don’t wish to see you suffer.”
You drop down into one of the chairs, covering your face with your hands, trying not to cry. You had never wanted anyone quite in this way, trying to brush it off as a crush but the feelings never went away, always persistent, weighing down on your thoughts at all times of the day. You remember the tender way he’d looked at you after the kiss, brushing strands of hair behind your ears, gently drawing you against his chest, a cozy moment. He certainly seemed to be fine with the pace things were going at and hadn’t asked if he could come in like some men had after such a short time.
“Is there any chance that he’d…love me back in that way?”
“If he harbors those kinds of feelings for you then yes. But given that the window is narrowing, the sooner, the better.”
But what if…
Your mind resolves, and you sigh, finalizing on a decision. “Shoko.”
She looks at you curiously, hearing the change in your voice. Yes?
“I want to live no matter what.” Your hands ball into fists and although the notion makes your heart clench, you tell her your decision. “If my health declines, I want to be kept alive with special medical intervention. But if it gets to a point where the Hanahaki is going to be fatal to me… Please surgically remove it.”
Shoko looks at you surprised. “Really?”
“Really. Don't leave it up to chance.” You rub your eyes wearily. It felt like a cruel joke, longing for Hiromi for so long, then when you finally started dating it ended up triggering the Hanahaki at a faster rate. “I may love him but…I mean I have a life too. If it gets that bad… it would imply he doesn't feel that way…and he may never feel that way. It may sound selfish but… I want to live.”
“I get it. You don't have to explain to me.” Shoko pats your shoulder. “But considering your life is on the line maybe don't hold back in showing him how much you love him?”
You laugh humorlessly. “How many men do you know who respond well to a woman saying she loves them after 2 dates?”
Shoko sighs. “Fair enough. I wish you luck.”
**✿❀○❀✿**
You hadn't set the third date. After the intense conversation with Shoko, you just felt like you needed to be by yourself.
The bed felt so comforting but sleep eluded you as the coughing worsened, shaking your whole being. You got up countless times to clean yourself in between and finally having had enough, dragged yourself out of bed to grab a pot from the kitchen, heaving into it, watching with horror as it filled. After 24 hours, it had progressed from seeds and petals into partial flower fragments, bunches of petals stuck to a portion of the flower head falling out of your mouth.
Your head throbbed, feeling like it could burst. Almost self-pityingly you think about what life would be like if you hadn’t asked him out. Eventually, it would have made no difference, the Hanahaki would’ve grown despite that, you muse to yourself, feeling the scrape of stems and roots embedding their way into your organs. How did things change so fast? You were fine and one kiss later…
Your phone buzzes, and you barely manage to pick it up, looking at it with one eye open, your pulse racing as you see his name.
How are you feeling? Still sick? 🥺
A smidgen of relief is felt in your chest, surprising you, as you take in a breath that hurts just a little less. He was checking in on you. Would a man do that if he wasn’t interested? Was there hope that he may feel more for you? You try to calm your wandering thoughts, knowing it wouldn’t do you any good to imagine things that he hadn’t explicitly stated.
Unfortunately 😔 I'm sorry but I don't think we can make that third date this weekend. Rain check? I hope work was good today.
Ding.
Work was fine. Yes, we can certainly hold off until you feel better.
Before you can reply he sends another message.
Do you need anything? I wouldn't want you to struggle while you're sick.
Butterflies flutter amongst the blooms in your chest. You did want to see him, but Shoko’s words come back to you, about how spending time with him without any promise of returning your feelings could worsen things even more. Additionally, the state you were in made you want to immediately decline the offer. You didn’t want him to see you like this, pale, hacking up bloody mucus flowers, pining for him like a lovesick dog. You grip your phone wondering how to reply, then carefully word your text.
I think I’m ok. Besides you don’t want to see me sick. Not a pretty picture.
Ding.
I’m sure I’ve seen worse. But I promise not to run away screaming. 😄 What do you say?
Despite it all you laugh, noting with wonder how you didn’t feel as bad as you did a minute ago.
Ok, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. 💀
Ding.
Noted! I’m bringing soup! See you in 30.
30?! You scramble up suddenly, then hang over the edge of the bed as more flower bits force their way up your throat, falling into the grotesque potpourri pooling into the cooking pot. With as much speed as your exhausted body offers, you dump the flower vomit into the toilet, quickly rinse the pot in the kitchen, and throw together an outfit appropriate for company. You add a little blush to your cheeks and some lipstick to remedy the pale sickly quality that your skin has become.
You’re jittery when the doorbell rings. Taking a deep breath, you open the door, revealing Higuruma, looking so casual in jeans and a tee rather than the suit he wore to work. He was carrying a bag and there’s a slight twitch to his lips as he looks at you.
“I’m disappointed,” he says good-naturedly, stepping inside. “Where’s the horrifying red nose and dripping snot? The messy hair and phlegm-covered tissues? At least tell me you have those droopy eye bags?”
“They’re hidden with concealer,” you admit, biting your lip to avoid smiling goofily at his presence. You feel a strange sensation in your body, almost like the parasitic flowers were retracting to allow their host to breathe a little before resuming their consumption of your flesh.
“Concealer! The ultimate trick. Do you think I should wear some? Look at these.” He points to the just visible bags under his eyes and you give up, laughing heartily, the growing blooms inside you only slightly painful.
Higuruma grins at you. “Well, they do say laughter is the best medicine. However, soup, as promised,” he says, brandishing the bag, “And decongestants, and a little dark chocolate. Because it’s the best.”
You take the bag from him trying not to blush. “Thank you, Hiromi. You didn’t have to come over. I appreciate it so much.”
“Aw, it’s no trouble. Besides you don’t let people you like suffer. Well not alone anyway.”
Your heart constricts in your chest as he says he likes you but you try to play it cool, leaves and petals stirring in your heart and lungs. “Oh? Wasn’t aware you liked me.” You try to sound nonchalant as you say it, but secretly hope he’ll say a little more, something more concrete which would imply there’s something stronger between you two. Something that might take away this dreadful thing growing inside you…
“Really?” He widens his eyes playfully and covers his mouth pretending to be shocked. “Oh no! All my efforts have gone in vain!” He drawls dramatically. “What good is bringing someone soup if they’re unaware you like them?”
You place the bag on the kitchen counter and cover your mouth as an unruly snort of laughter leaves you, which you use to hide the twinge of disappointment you feel. Well, at least he didn’t deny that he likes you. That was a start, and it could progress from there, in a best-case scenario.
Your chest contracts suddenly and you quickly grab a napkin and stand at the kitchen sink, coughing up more foliage, trying to be discreet, attempting to soften your coughing as the fragmented sunflowers fall out of your mouth. Higuruma walks into the kitchen at the noise and you hide the napkin in your hands, wiping your mouth.
Unlike before his face is lined with concern, and he waits for you to turn around. You try to smile reassuringly, your lipstick smudging from wiping your mouth.
“You don’t have to hide being sick in front of me you know,” he says softly. “We’re both adults. What’s life without a little mucus?”
You throw away the napkin and shake your head. “We only just started seeing each other. Helping someone when they’re sick is more of a sixth date thing.”
Higuruma contemplates your words, leaning his hip against the counter. “Well, we’ve worked at the same place for a year. So that plus two dates…I think it comes close. Your lipstick is smudged by the way,” he adds, tapping his upper lip to indicate where you should clean it.
You wish he wouldn’t look at you like that, like you’re still pretty even when you’re hacking up blood, literally dying from how much you love him. You hastily swipe a finger over the color, and when he doesn’t comment further, you assume it’s gone.
“Well…thanks.” You take out a bowl to pour some soup. “Do you also want some?” you offer him.
He shakes his head no. “Here let me.”
His large hand takes the bowl from you while the other picks up the takeout container and he deftly pours steaming chicken noodle soup into it. “I can bring it outside for you. C'mon, sick person’s privilege.”
It was odd being ordered around in your kitchen, even if it was in this endearing manner. You shake your head. “You and your chivalry code.”
“I thought women loved it when men waited on them like this! Maybe I should double-check Reddit.”
How did he manage to do this to you? Your stomach is doing flips and it feels like for a brief second, the Hanahaki has frozen, allowing you a moment of clarity. Being near him was like not knowing your head was underwater until you took in that first gasp of air and felt it expand in your lungs, life flowing back into your veins.
You settle on the couch and accept the bowl from him. He sits down on the opposite end, crossing a leg over his knee, and turns to look at you.
“I think the remote’s on your end. Feel free to put on anything.”
“Anything? What a treat. I had come fully prepared with a list of rom-coms but I’m glad I can put on anything.”
You roll your eyes as you swallow the hot soup, savoring how it slides down your throat. “Rom coms? Why?”
“Isn’t that the default for when you’re sick?”
“Is that the default when you’re sick?” You probe him teasingly, noting how you don’t feel the irritating brush of the flowers as much as before. It almost felt easier to breathe with him around.
Sheepish, Higuruma grins at you and rakes a hand through his hair. “It might be. It’s too early to reveal my secrets.”
“Oh? And when would it be appropriate?”
“After a third date.”
You glance at him, spoon halfway to your lips. He hastily adds, “After you’re feeling better of course!”
You busy yourself with the bowl to hide the blush that was threatening to make itself visible and swallow zealously. As mentioned, he puts on a rom-com and you finish the soup, feeling warm and cozy. You’re wrapped in a blanket and Higuruma has remained politely at the opposite end but as he sees your eyes beginning to droop he offers his shoulder.
“No, it’s ok…I’m fine here…” You mumble, trying to focus on the movie but the Hanahaki is beginning to take a toll on your body.
“It’s all right y/n. I guarantee I’m comfier than a couch cushion.” Seeing your hesitation he chuckles. “I promise to behave. Just…c’mere. I wasn’t joking when I said people shouldn’t suffer alone.”
He scoots over to the middle and helps you tip over slightly, placing an arm around you as the side of your cheek rests on his shoulder. The effect was instantly soporific. You couldn’t believe it. He was here…and yet so far away. You struggle to remind yourself that nothing was solid, that this was all still in the beginning stages, and that plenty could go wrong.
But the yearning is stronger and you let yourself indulge for a brief moment before your brain switches from consciousness to sleep. Hiromi, warm, gentle, sweet Hiromi, here, next to you, on your sofa in your living room. Letting you use him as a pillow. It was like plucking a private daydream from your brain and shaping it into reality.
If you could disperse the little moments like this…could you possibly slow down the Hanahaki enough that you could date him a little longer until it was appropriate to tell him you loved him? And perhaps when you did…he would say it back?
You smelled that familiar scent of wood and spice, memories of the kiss lulling you to sleep. His hand rubs the side of your blanket-covered arm, steady and comforting.
“You smell nice,” you mutter almost imperceptibly but he hears it and his heart skips a beat.
“I’m glad you think so.”
**✿❀○❀✿**
Monitors beep and there’s an IV in your arm. Shoko peers anxiously into your face as you come back to reality. Things had taken a turn for the worse. You had been floating in and out of consciousness for the past few days.
“I need to know everything that happened. I’m sorry, I know you don’t feel like talking.” Shoko helps you sit upright in the hospital bed and hands you a glass of water which you sip weakly. “But I need to figure out when I should start the special interventions you mentioned. I have all the labs. But I need to know where you are emotionally if I have to make a call about surgical intervention next.”
You take a few breaths of oxygen from the mask in your hand before steadying yourself to speak. Every inch of you hurt. Your body prickled as you tried to suck in a breath, your mouth dry and your words raspy. Living was simply draining right now.
“Four days ago, Hiromi visited me at home. He wasn’t aware of how sick I was. And I didn’t tell him.”
Shoko’s eyes narrow. “Why?”
You shake your head wearily. “It just didn’t feel right. He put me to sleep. When I woke up, I was laid out on the couch and Hiromi was gone. I felt a lot better and got myself to bed. Then the next day, I was in pain. So much pain. It felt like one of my lungs had burst. Like a million thorns were scratching the inside of my heart and throat. That’s when I called you.”
Shoko paces back and forth as she ponders on what the next best step would be, looking exasperated. “Y/n. I told you that being with him in this unrequited manner will only cause the Hanahaki to spread faster. You should have said no to him coming over. The closeness and then his absence, plus the lack of admission of any romantic feelings made it grow alarmingly. Your heart and lungs are almost purely plant now.”
You lay back against the pillows, taking the most shallow breaths possible to alleviate any further discomfort. “How long? Before…?”
Shoko sighs deeply. “I will have to do the surgery tomorrow.”
You had known deep down that she wouldn’t have any better news. Tears fill your eyes as you stare at the ceiling, dripping down your cheeks and onto the pillow. Your voice quivers are you talk.
“Wow…I really thought…I had more time than that. I thought…we’d go on a third date. Maybe a fourth. And by the fifth or sixth, enough time would have passed that it wouldn’t be weird if I said it.” You press your hands over your eyes and a sob passes from your lips. “I really wanted it to be him Shoko. My end game. I guess…it wasn’t meant to be huh?”
Shoko pats your arm sympathetically. “It’s not that you won’t ever fall in love again. It just won’t be with him.”
“Ah, but that’s the thing Shoko. Would anything else feel the way this feels?” You let yourself think back on every little interaction you ever had with Higuruma. Every tiny second where the two of you had been in the same room, or just passed by each other at work. The way his eyes danced as he laughed, little crow’s feet forming at the corners. And the fact that you’ll never find out if rom-coms were his go-to when he was sick. It was so bittersweet, to be so close yet so far to the addictive idea of almost knowing what it would be like to be loved by him, yet too late to escape the effects of the Hanahaki.
“Can you find him for me Shoko? I just…need to see him one last time. Before…you know.”
Shoko’s eyes are contemplative, but she nods. “Let me see if he’s on campus.”
“And Shoko?”
She already knows what you’re about to say but listens anyway.
“Please don’t tell him anything. The last thing I need is him pitying me.”
**✿❀○❀✿**
Higuruma checks his phone and can’t hide his disappointment when he sees you haven’t replied to his last few texts. He’d been careful not to wake you when he laid you down on the sofa and quietly crept out that night. He’d been sure to text you to let you know you hadn’t been abandoned, but that he didn’t want to encroach on your boundaries and was looking forward to seeing you again. That was 4 days ago. Had he made things awkward without realizing it? Had you ghosted him?
He told himself it couldn’t possibly be a simple case of ghosting because you hadn’t been coming into work either. He was positive he hadn’t misread the signs. You were comfortable and relaxed around him. There was no reason for you to avoid him. Had your illness worsened? The ideas turn over and over in his head as he wanders the halls of the vast Jujustu High campus, then comes out of his reverie as someone calls his name.
“Oh! Shoko, hi.” He greets the brunette as she approaches him. Her expression looks tight as she nears, and she seems unsure of what to say.
Shoko knows she’s obligated to hold her silence, but in this case, she can’t bring herself to do it. “Can we find a place to sit down? There’s a lot that needs to be said and I’m not sure there’s a lot of time left.”
“Time left? For what? Is this about y/n?” Higuruma feels uneasy but allows Shoko to direct him toward a bench in the well-maintained courtyard.
Shoko does her best to explain everything concisely; the origin of the Hanahaki, its unexpected acceleration, and how you would be heading into surgery tomorrow to get it removed. Higuruma listens quietly but it’s clear from his expressions and the way they turn to shock and horror as Shoko describes it that he’s feeling this on a personal level.
“Unrequited love eh?” He runs a hand over the back of his neck and takes a deep breath. “Who would’ve thought?” Higuruma mulls this over in his head. Was there someone else he wasn’t aware of? He shouldn’t be surprised. You were so beautiful after all, and with your Jujutsu talents, courage, and principles, it wasn’t that much of a shock. It couldn’t be him…he was new to everything, needing help, always feeling like he was one step short. He looks to Shoko, needing confirmation. “And do we know who the mystery man is?”
Shoko looks at him pointedly and he frowns for a second thinking. “What? Is it someone I know? Am I supposed to pass on a message?”
Shoko impatiently tapped her foot against the ground, biting her inner cheek, her expression almost becoming a glare as she prayed he’d have the epiphany soon.
A lick of irritation passes through him. “Shoko, trust me when I say I want her to live. I'm dating her right now, but if there’s someone else that she needs to be well, I’m not selfish enough to stand in the way of that.” His heart clenches at the thought but if it was a matter of life and death, he couldn’t deny you that.
To him, you were the moon, the lovely, elegant, marker in his sky, and he was the ocean, hopelessly drawn by your gravity, yet never getting close enough to grasp you and make you his own, waves crashing down into salt and foam after each failed attempt.
Feeling like she might burst, Shoko begrudgingly gives him another clue. “There’s no other man.”
“There isn’t? Then…” He’s silent as the meaning of her words suddenly dawns on him, making him blush. The realization is stunning. “You’re kidding.”
“I wish I was. But it’s always been you. Now let me make this very clear. If you do not have any feelings for her that are equal to romantic love, then there’s nothing else that can be done. I’ll take her to surgery and remove all of it. She deserves to live.”
He falls silent as her words wash over him. “And that…would take away everything right?”
“It will. She’ll forget everything. All those times she felt her heartbeat quicken when she saw you. The dates you had. You bringing her soup. She’ll forget and her feelings will become purely platonic.” She looks at him appraisingly and waits for an answer.
“I…” The words catch in his throat and he feels an unbearable guilt wash over him. He was responsible for putting you in this state. It was his fault you were now hovering between life and death. He presses his fingers to the bridge of his nose and takes a calming breath. Nothing about him was steady at the moment. He was a knot of nerves, worried for your safety.
“I do love her,” he admits. “For the longest time. It’s just…you can’t blurt out things like that. Scares people off.”
“So I’ve heard,” Shoko says, trying not to sound sarcastic. “But you were dating her. That must mean that you have feelings for her.”
“Who says ‘I love you’ to someone after 2 dates?”
Shoko’s eye twitches menacingly and Higuruma leans away, looking slightly apprehensive at the expression. “What is it?”
“Nothing just that you two…are very similar.” She sighs, massaging her temples.
“So, what do I have to do now?” Higuruma looks at her helplessly. “I don’t want to be the reason she’s suffering. If I tell her I love her, that’s it? The Hanahaki fades? Because I’ll do it. I’ll tell her over and over. Anything to make it right.”
“That would certainly help but the state that she’s in…verbally making your feelings known would still require her to remain in the hospital for a few weeks.”
“What else can I do?” Higuruma looks at Shoko with sincerity. “Whatever she needs, I’ll do it.”
Shoko clears her throat wondering how to put forth the matter. “Well, while the verbal affirmations would ease her discomfort, physical love would definitely speed up her recovery.”
“So hugs? Kisses? I held her on the sofa while she slept. I can do that again, I’ll cuddle her until she feels better.”
Shoko lets out a sigh, wondering how much more explicit she would need to get. “We are very much short on time, so let me ask you this. What’s the usual culmination of romantic love?”
“What? The culmination of romantic love? It’s…it’s…OH.” His eyes widen as the realization washes over him, turning his face a brilliant shade of crimson. “Doesn’t that cross a line? We’ve only ever kissed, and it was only once.”
“I’m sure she won’t mind if it saves her life. Besides, I can’t imagine her denying it if it’s you.”
“Ah, thanks?” he says uncertainly, not sure if it’s a compliment. Still flustered, he rakes his hands through his hair, trying not to feel embarrassed. Under normal circumstances, he would’ve loved this. To make love to someone as gorgeous as you? It would’ve been a privilege. But the added complication of you being sick added a layer of uncertainty. But he knew he’d have to figure it out.
Feeling like she’s finally gotten through to him, Shoko smiles at him softly. “Just…let yourself love her naturally. It’ll fall into place. You’ll figure it out.” She pats his shoulder reassuringly. “Think you can take some time off? Stay at home with her?”
He nods, feeling his resolve strengthen. “Of course.”
**✿❀○❀✿**
The hands that carry you are warm, large, and gentle. Was this it? Were they taking you to surgery? Shoko had given you something strong for the pain. Had she found Hiromi? You couldn’t recollect talking to him. Maybe he was out while you were hospitalized. Well, so much for that…
It was all going to be over soon. Shoko would extract the Hanahaki from your body and the next time you saw Higuruma, you wouldn’t feel a thing. Life really was cruel.
But something felt different. Instead of being moved to a cold surgical platform, you felt yourself being placed onto a soft bed, the familiar smell of fabric softener surrounding you. Were you home? Was the surgery already over?
A presence lays down next to you, gently drawing you closer, and as you inhale, you recognize the fragrance of woody spice. Hiromi was here? How? Were you dreaming? That must be it. You were post-op and experiencing whatever pleasant sensation the anesthesia gave you until you woke up.
You feel your face being caressed, your hair brushed away, being pressed tightly against his chest as his lips skim across your temple.
“Y/n. I’m so sorry.” His voice sounds regretful. “I guess…I was an idiot. I was so unsure about how you felt, when in fact, it was quite obvious. And I’m sorry if I made you feel like I didn’t want more. Because baby, the things I feel when you’re near me. They take my breath away. I thought the worst thing that could happen was that you would decide you didn’t want to see me anymore. I was wrong.”
His embrace tightens, and he adjusts so that your head rests on the crook of his neck, your breath falling sweetly on his skin. “The worst thing is seeing you like this, knowing I put you in this state. Why has society made dating so hard? Why are we shamed for feeling things too soon? Or too late? I think it should be different depending on the people involved. Some people feel it early. Others feel it down the line. I guess I’m one of the former. I just know.”
He kisses your forehead, and when he speaks next, there’s a crack in his voice, raw emotion coming through. “I love you. Always have from the moment I first started as a sorcerer. You leave me in awe. I’m sorry I didn’t say it sooner. I love you, y/n. I love you so much.”
You stir slightly, listening intently. Did he just…?
“You have to get better. Remember how on the first date, you told me that you’d love to visit Paris someday? We’ll go. Just us. After you’re well. I don’t care what society deems normal anymore. We’ll go on our third date. Because you deserve it. Because I love you.”
His words permeate your body, a curious sensation because it feels like they entered your bloodstream, and were being absorbed into your heart. The tightness of the root system embedded into your veins withdraws, and you feel your breath becoming less labored.
“Please wake up darling. You have to wake up.”
He presses his lips against yours, full of tenderness and passion, and when he pulls away, he sees color coming into the previously pale and chapped lips. He kisses you again, and it’s bliss, his hands combing through your hair, stroking your back, and you take in a deep breath, the relief feeling ecstatic, your blood humming in your veins, almost purifyingly. Compelled to react, you move your lips gently, feel him still and pull away incredulously, and look down at your face.
“Y/n?” There’s so much relief on his face as he looks at you, his thumbs brushing against your cheeks.
‘Hey,” you manage to rasp, feeling that same purifying sensation, like the flowers in your body were contracting ever so slightly, making room for you to breathe.
Higuruma lets out a soft laugh, then rests his forehead on yours. “Oh my…you’re awake. You’re going to make it darling, don’t worry.”
“Do you really love me?”
“I do. So much. I don’t know since when. I just knew I did.”
The fortifying effect of those words brings back strength into your body and you raise your arms, wrapping them around his neck.
“Hiromi. You have no idea how happy I am that you’re here.”
“Oh I think I have you beat there darling,” he says weakly, nuzzling your neck. “I wasn’t sure when you’d wake up.”
He kisses you again, slow and gentle and your mouth opens to accept his tongue, reveling in the taste, feeling every inch of your body respond to his touch. His hands roam under the back of the thin T-shirt you’re wearing, anchoring themselves onto your shoulders, inhaling your scent as he tries to breathe through it all. He strings a line of soft kisses from your jaw down your neck, stopping to savor the way your pulse felt as it beat with vitality inside you, before coming down to your collarbone. A gasp leaves your lips, fingers tangling with his hair as he does so.
The noise brings his attention back to you, unaware of the desire pooling into your veins where the flowers were starting to withdraw. Your cheeks had a healthy glow, a flush settling into them as he pulled you against him.
“Are you ok with this?” He asks, his fingers tracing circles on the back of your neck, waiting for a response.
“I am. More than ok. Just…don’t stop now. I need this.” You lean up and kiss him, electricity sparking between the both of you. “I need you.”
Hearing you needed him switches something on in him and he groans against the passion of your kiss before burying his face in your neck, nibbling the soft flesh, listening to the flow of breath running through you. His hands sneak up under the front of your shirt and rest against your breasts, letting the heat flow into them, feeling your nipples perk up against his palms before he squeezes, his mouth leaving wet kisses between the crook of your neck and shoulder.
“Please…” you whisper into his ear, the word spoken with so much urgency that he almost loses control. He finds the hem of your shirt and pulls it off, taking in the sight of your lovely body, the pebbled nipples ripe for sampling. He pulls one into his mouth, causing a quiet moan to leave you, and begins to tease the other, rolling it between his thumb and index, listening to your cues as he increases the friction and pressure.
You feel like you're on a cloud, pleasure tingling into every crevice of your body, sighing, losing all other thoughts except for the man in your bed. “Hiromi,” you call his name in a breathy tone, cradling his head as he suckles, heat gathering between your legs. How long had it been since you were touched in this way? Held like you were precious, kissed like you were ambrosia?
Hiromi observes the way color comes back to your body as he teases you, watching with mild fascination as the pert nipple between his fingers changes color, life coming back into you.
Your eyes close against the gentle ministrations of his tongue and fingers, the moans becoming whimpers as need takes over. When he finally lets go the need for more contact with his skin was overwhelming. You fist the fabric of his top and pull it off, and he allows it without any questions. Your eyes roam over the broad, tanned chest, the cloud of black hair on his chest leading into a thready trail that crawled lower like a lion’s mane, hidden by the waistband of his jeans. For a moment you stare, drinking in the sheer masculinity of it all, the hard planes and defined muscles, contrasting against the softness of your body.
Almost shyly you run your fingers through the patch of hair before coming down to place a kiss between his collarbones, hear his breath strangle before continuing down, feeling all the muscles in his abdomen tense up as your lips follow the happy trail, delighting in the way he reacted when you nibbled around his bellybutton.
“Y/n you’re making me crazy.” he grits his teeth, struggling to keep a hold on his sanity. You had just recovered, he shouldn’t be rash or grab you but you were making it very hard to ignore the rush of want pouring into his bloodstream. It was so surprising how these acts of love, even briefly, had brought you back from the edge.
He slides you back up, sees the vitality glittering in your eyes, and crushes his mouth to yours, letting his body speak for him as he runs a hand down your smooth skin, pausing to knead the soft squish of your belly, his hand slipping under the band of your shorts and underwear, bringing them down to reveal the curve of your ass which he grabs possessively, savoring the fat, pushing your lower body against his throbbing erection. He slowly grinds against you, paying attention to your body but you aren’t pulling away from him, rather, it appears to make you crave more, the way your hands fumble at his back, holding on to his shoulders and pressing your face into his chest.
Hiromi’s hands move to your front, repeating the action of pulling the waistbands down, exposing you to his hands. As he slides your clothing off, your legs part for him unashamedly, the throbbing in your sex unbearable, feeling your chest becoming free of the previous pressure that was suffocating it. Grasping your mound in his large palm, he feels for the edge of the swollen labia and massages, grasping the moistening flesh between his fingers and applying pressure, causing you to arch against his hand, the noises you make music to his ears.
He gently parts the folds of your sex, seeing the slick from your arousal gathering at the entrance of your core, begging to be touched. He looks back up at you and you nod, the small sign of consent all he needed before he plunges his tongue into the most heat of your cunt. The knowledge of knowing he was here at such a sensitive spot on your body sends a thrill through him and he licks up, finding the base of your swollen clit, letting his tongue flick against it, satisfaction flowing through him as you hum your pleasure at the action. Laying his tongue flat, he slides up and down, unfazed when you move against him, trying to build a little more friction.
He lets his middle finger circle the entrance of your pussy, teasing until you raise your hips slightly before sliding in, the digit feeling so wonderfully filling, curling upwards to find the little patch inside you that makes you take a sharp breath before becoming so wonderfully pliant and soft under him. He inserts his ring finger, and your sighs become a crescendo of gasps and moans, writhing under him, holding the pillow to remain grounded as the ache in your core becomes unbearably sweet, blossoming from the center and filling your body with a thrum of pleasure.
You sob as the orgasm hits, all the muscles in your body contracting before pleasurably spasming, your cries becoming shrill as it passes, feel Hiromi’s tongue slow down and continue to nudge against your clit, ensuring he squeezed out every drop of pleasure from you before pulling away from your core.
You’re a sight to see after that, body rosy and flushed, a fresh vigor visible all over, hair messy and splayed across the pillow.
“Y/n…you’re so beautiful,” he rasps as he crawls back up to you, licking your juices off his fingers before covering your mouth with his. Shivering from the climax, you taste yourself on his tongue, gripping the back of his neck as though afraid he might slip between your fingers if you didn’t hold onto him hard enough.
“Do you…ahem…” He suddenly turns shy but powers through. “Do you happen to have condoms? I kind of…forgot...you know with everything that happened.”
Your lips quirk and a peal of laughter leaves you, and he joins in, smiling, cupping your face tenderly in his hands. “Top drawer,” you answer him. “You went to the drugstore a couple of days ago and bought decongestants, but not condoms?” you tease him.
“Who knew I’d be having sex a few days later?”
“We were dating! It was bound to happen.”
“Oh really? So that’s what happens when people are dating?” he teases you back and it’s your turn to blush, but he’s being sweet about it, brushing your noses together, and pressing feather-light kisses all over your face. He slides off the bed to finish undressing, and you watch him, fascination all over your face as his cock slips free, long and veiny, leaking precum, throbbing with hot need. He fumbles through your nightstand before finding the little wrapped packet, rolling down the condom before joining you back in bed, cuddling you close.
“Ready?”
You nod, a look passing between you both, before he positions himself and starts entering, the push of his tip feeling exquisite, going inch by inch, giving you time to adjust to him, feeling your fingernails scratch his forearms as he starts to bottom out. He holds still, your eyes meeting, your mouth slightly open as your pussy involuntarily spasms around him, feeling wonderfully stretched out.
He starts moving, hips rolling deliciously to set up a rhythm, leaning forward to kiss you as he does so, arching his back to ensure your G-spot wasn’t missed with each stroke. It was so artful the way he made love to you, your body so responsive to everything, and he gathered you in his arms, both of you looking into each other’s eyes.
“I love you.” He buries his face into the crook of your neck and you lock your ankles around his waist, mewling as he thrusts into you.
“I love you too,” you mumble, mind in a haze, feeling nothing but pleasure flowing through you. Your breathing has changed, no longer ragged and shallow but to a full-bodied draw of air, so refreshing as you both touch and caress each other.
Your body starts the familiar sensation of tension gathering in your belly, coiling, waiting for release. Misty-eyed, you look at him, knowing he’s been watching your face all this while, looking for cues.
“I’m close…” you whisper, touching his cheek, tracing the outline of his lips as you move with him.
“Let go for me…I’ve got you…” With a cry, your second orgasm grips you, more powerful than the first, and you barely manage to keep your legs locked around him.
“Hiromi…Hiromi…” his name falls from your lips, and his movements become a little sloppy, feeling his own orgasm nearing, and not too soon, he falls off the edge, cock twitching inside you, as he rides out the wave of pleasure.
It was the best sleep of your life afterward, wrapped up in Higuruma’s warm and secure embrace, cheek resting on his chest, and listening to each other’s heartbeats as you both dreamt.
When you wake up, it’s the middle of the night and Higuruma is awake, peering at you through the darkness.
“Go back to sleep,” he whispers, petting your hair.
“I can’t, I have the distracting problem of having a handsome man in my bed.”
“Hmm…And this is a problem, how?”
“I want to keep looking at him. Makes for bad sleep.”
A deep chuckle leaves his throat as you cuddle against him.
“So out of curiosity, if I wasn’t conscious by the time you started up, what would you have done?” You lean up to look at him, legs tangling under the covers.
“Oh, Shoko reassured me that kissing you would bring you around.”
“Yeah, but what if it hadn’t?” you press, curiosity building.
Higuruma makes a funny expression, like he’s weighing whether or not to divulge something to you.
“What is it? C’mon, tell me!” You lightly slap his chest and he sighs, defeated.
“Well, Shoko gave me a letter of medical necessity.”
Your face turns blank. “She…what?”
Higuruma takes his phone and pulls up an official-looking email with an attachment. Trying not to laugh, he reads out, “I, Dr. Shoko Ieieri, hereby state, that in the event that F/n L/n is only partially conscious, or fully unconscious, the giver of medical services, Mr. Hiromi Higuruma, has my complete medical consent to make physical love to the patient to ensure her life does not fall into jeopardy. This medical order shall remain in effect until F/n Y/n becomes fully conscious and capable of making her own decisions. See she signed it and everything.”
He tilts the phone screen so that you can see, and you cover your mouth as you try to stifle your laughter. “I can’t believe Shoko!”
“I’m sure she wrote it as a joke,” Higuruma says amusedly. “She was very confident that kissing would wake you up sufficiently.”
“Ugh, I can’t believe my doctor wrote a note advocating for sex to save my life.” You bury your face into his chest and the both of you laugh uncontrollably.
“So is it a safe bet to assume we’re having another date?” he teases, pressing a kiss to your neck.
“I’ll have to think about it. I’m joking!” you add hastily, seeing his expression grow stony. He sighs, dramatically shaking his head.
“Guess I better get used to this. Looks like it’s going to be part of my life for a long long time.”
He kisses you again before you can retort. You smile up at him, knowing he is yours.

ASHLER HEADCANONS
(i’m giving myself a break from my fic today so this is how I compensate)
How did they realise they caught feelings?
— I imagine these two to be veeeeery slowburn for a lot of reason, as in, they get together in their senior year of High School or even maybe after in college.
— Ashlyn is pretty out of touch with her feelings, It took her a while to differentiate between romantic and platonic sentiments towards people and even then, she sucked at handling it. I see her as the type to fall for someone without even realising and dismissing her feelings as being 'oh we're really good friends!' It took a sleepover with Taylor (who has been trying -and failing- to set her brother and Ashlyn together for a while now) to realise that she had a crush on Tyler. I think the two of them would have had a long conversation about it (I honestly see Taylor as someone who's really in tune with emotions) and even then, her realising turned out to be more of a bad thing because things became awkward and Ashlyn essentially avoided any one-on-one interaction.
— Tyler on the other hand, had known about his feelings for Ashlyn for a while now but had chosen not to do anything about it, simply pushing it aside in order to prioritise his family and focusing on staying alive in the phantom realm. Besides, there was no way Ashlyn would reciprocate when all she did nowadays was act weird with him.
What was their first date?
— Their first date was at an amusement park: I firmly believe that Tyler fell first but Ashlyn would fall harder and eventually, there would be a point where she gets fed up with the lack of confrontation and decides to actually do something about the unsolved tension.
— Taylor had gotten it into Ashlyn’s head that to confess there had to be some over-the-top, extravagant declaration of love and had been restlessly prodding Ashlyn to ask her brother out because “the idiot wasn’t going to do it himself.” The plan was for the two to hang out at the theme park all day and then finally go on a Ferris wheel ride where Ashlyn would admit her feelings and if she was lucky, Tyler would reciprocate and save her from total embarrassment and if not? Well, there goes trying to eliminate the awkwardness but at least Ashlyn tried.
The catch to this plan, you may ask?
Tyler was deathly afraid of heights. Like a cat in water afraid of heights. Will freak out afraid of heights.
It was a new fear that he had contracted after he died in the phantom realm that he had never actually gotten around to telling Taylor, mainly because she was a massive thrill-seeker and enjoyed anything height related and so he didn’t want to strip that enjoyment from her, he wanted to make her happy and experiences her joys with her, trauma be damned. Still, if he had a choice he would avoid it.
That was until his totally-not-a-crush-crush walked up to him ( looking as gorgeous as ever) and batted her pretty, little lashes, asking him out to an amusement park just the two of them and who the hell was Tyler Hernandez to say no to such a goddess? (he was such a weak, weak man for her it was disgusting) .
Besides, there was more to amusement parks than rollercoaster rides, right? And Ashlyn didn't look like the type to be chasing after the adrenaline of high rides so he would simply divert her from any high rides, that wouldn't be so hard?
— Anyway, after hours of Hell and successfully keeping Ashlyn away from every rollercoaster waiting line (“pfft, I’ve went on these rides way too many times, they’re soooo boring trust me!”) Tyler found himself enjoying the day, he got to sneak glances at Ashlyn when he thought she wasn't looking and got to spend time with his crush and maybe, just maybe he could be content with small moments like this for the rest of his life, his crush obviously wasn’t planning on fading anytime soon but now, he could admire from afar, even if she did kick his ass at shooting games.
— Unfortunately, all luck comes to end eventually she practically dragged him to the ferris wheel. He tried to get out of it by saying “it’s boring, only grannies go on those!” But for some reason she was entirely fixated on that ride and that one alone.
— A normal person, at this stage would admit to hating tall rides and save their dignity and sanity but Tyler Hernandez had a date and a reputation to maintain, so if Ashlyn Banner wanted to go on a ferris wheel, he was going on a ferris wheel.
— And that confidence lasted around two seconds because as soon as they got into the air, Tyler became eerily silent, something that confused Ashlyn because normally the boy wouldn’t shut up. She glanced down and noticed that he seemed to be digging his nails into the seat so hard Ashlyn was sure it would leave marks. There was something wrong with him, it was clear as daylight but everytime Ashlyn tried to bring it up Tyler would shrug it off dismissively and make some snarky quips to reassure her (spoiler alert: it didn’t work).
— Eventually they reach the very top, the “pinnacle of romance” (as Taylor liked to put it), this was Ashlyn’s shot; she would clear the air and get rid of the stupid bug that annoyed her every time Tyler was in her vicinity. And so, she starts talking incredibly fast in 2x speed, trying earnestly as all her pent up feelings and frustrations to the boy come spilling out infront of him.
— Unfortunately, Tyler was too busy counting sheep in his head to try and catch any of what Ashlyn was saying, never mind her incredibly fast speed. Though he did catch the last part of "-and now I think I might be in love with you" and suddenly, the air was cut off from his lungs. He paled at the realisation -and also partially because he was trying to not puke-: Ashlyn Banner, that stupid idiot, liked him back, in more than a friend way!
— For a while, the two of them just stared, Ashlyn looked like a deer caught in headlights and Tyler really wished Taylor or Aiden were here to pinch him. And then- well, he ended up wretching on the ferris wheel, the rest of the ride ended up being Tyler alternating between freaking out and becoming nauseous and Ashlyn panicking while trying to help and regretting her previous life choices.
— Afterwards, Ashlyn was pretty sure that vomiting was a clear indication of an unreciprocated crush so she honestly planned on running away and getting her parents to pick her up or something. Her plans were paused when Tyler stopped her by the wrist and pulled her towards his chest, Ashlyn could feel his hands shaking around her.
— "You're so stupid, I'm so stupid and- I think I might be in love with you too."
— And that was that.
Do they indulge in PDA?
— short answer: No.
— Both of them are the type to cringe and make fun of people who engage in excessive PDA so it’s no surprise that they’re pretty averse to it themselves. The most you’ll see these two do in public is touch shoulders or sit next to each other (or maybe if you’re lucky, you get to watch Ashlyn dragging Tyler by the arms away from a fight.)
— I think it would take at least 3 weeks for them to kiss after dating and Ashlyn would be the one to initiate.
— They’d be bickering one day and Ashlyn would just shut him up spontaneously by tugging his shirt forward and tiptoeing up for a kiss. Tyler would be surprised at first, his eyes wide open and looking down in surprise but eventually he just melts and it takes a minute for them to part.
— “Shut.” kiss “The.” kiss “Fuck.” kids “up.” would be a thing Ashlyn does everytime he pipes up a little bit too much. Whether it be over something stupid like a comic they’re both reading or something else, it would probably lead into a make out session afterwards.
— Tyler’s the type to walk up to her sometimes, play with her bangs and then lift it up for a little *smooch.* It’s mostly because he enjoys the way she goes red like a tomato every time. One time he did it in public after a baseball match or something and Ashlyn froze, she could not speak for an hour and it seemed like her face and ears were permanently coloured red. Aiden had found it funny and took a picture of it which is actually saved as her profile picture now.
— All of their intimacy is in private though, most of the time people would be surprised to find out they’re dating. The popular jock and the loner who never talks? But don’t they ever only argue?
Dates?
— I personally think their dates would mostly be stay-at-home dates.
— Ashlyn hates going out and Tyler doesn’t mind, so it works.
— Examples would be cooking dates, movie nights (that would inevitably get crashed by the others), little dinners together etc.
— They strike me to have very casual intimacy, so like grocery shopping together would also be considered a date for them.
— The mundane is openly enjoyed and celebrated!
Other random headcanons I have:
— Tyler has gradually become Ashlyn’s go-to hair stylist, especially for more formal events like ballet recitals. She was honestly shocked the first time he did her bangs and now feels entitled to getting it down whenever she pleases (compensation for all his moaning). Tyler grumbles about it and pretends to hate it but swatts his hand away every time Ashlyn tries to take over, he secretly really likes working with her hair because he’s never practiced on such long hair and so gets to experiment with more styles.
— When they become old enough to drive they’re both the drivers in the relationship. In the group and by themselves. Everytime they have to share a car they play rock, paper, scissors to avoid an argument over it.
— They have pretty similar music tastes. Idk I can feel it.
That’s all I can think of for now! If you have any other headcanon/scenario requests feel free to drop an ask!

— Chapter Six: Reunited
Bedtime Story Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
“Echo?” Omega asked, looking at her brother, “What are you doing here?”
Echo allowed a small smile to grace his lips, “I’m here to continue the story, of course.”
Omega’s eyes widened with glee at the implication - Echo would finally be making an appearance in the story; how exciting!
“Master,” You started, now a year into your training under Mace Windu, “What happens if we don’t take back Anaxes?”
“We’ll lose the war, Padawan.”
A few moments passed before Captain Rex noticed a figure behind you, immediately walking to speak to him. It felt familiar to you - resulting in you zoning out, thinking of the various possibilities.
Your Master’s words snapped you out of your daze, “If the trooper has a plan, I’d like to hear it.”
Someone you believed to be long gone stepped up to the holotable - Echo. A gasp escaped your lips at the realization, but you needed to keep composure in front of your Master - if you hadn’t needed to, you would’ve ran to him immediately.
Echo’s idea was risky, to say the least. Taking a small unit to Admiral Trench’s ship was risky in itself, but feeding him information was even more so.
“Master, if I may,” you interjected, “I’d like to be part of the team that goes to Trench.”
Echo’s eyes finally made their way to you - eyes of admiration and determination, “I was also going to suggest that, General Sir.”
Windu took a moment to think, “Fine.”
You nodded and walked after Echo, a smile tugging on your lips, “Echo!” You called more emotionally than you’d preferred.
The clone stopped and turned to you, teary eyes blinking, “Commander. It’s good to see you.”
“Are you kidding, Echo? I thought you were dead!” You looked at where Master Windu stood and deduced you were out of his line of vision, before opening your arms to him, “I’ve missed you so much, Echo. Are you doing okay?”
He hesitantly walked into your arms, accepting the embrace, “I’ve never been better, but I’ve been as good as dead for the past couple years, so that’s not saying much.”
“What happened?” You took a step away from him, still holding onto his biceps, “I mean, after the Citadel.”
“I was sold to the Techno Union - they used my brain against the Republic,” He paused, taking a sharp breath, “I was only rescued from Skako Minor a couple rotations ago by Captain Rex, General Skywalker, and a special-ops Clone Force.”
Could it be?
”I’m glad you’re alive, Echo. I never forgot about you - I could never forget about you.” You looked around for any gazing eyes before pulling up your robes, “You’re a part of me.”
His eyes widened at the ‘1409’ tattooed on your flesh, “I’ve missed you too, Commander.”
“Echo! Commander!” Rex’s voice called from afar, startling you, “Time to go - General Skywalker and Clone Force 99 are already on the ship.”
Ah, so it is.
“We can talk more later.” You offered before jogging to the familiar ship, Echo in tow. You smiled as the ramp laid itself down for you, as it did on your departure from the Batch, “Home,” you whispered to yourself.
“Good ‘ta have you back!” Wrecker’s jubilant voice boomed throughout the Marauder at the sight of you.
A voice came from behind you, “Home is right, Commander.”
“Should’ve known you’d be so desperate to see us again.”
“I see BD-99 is doing well.”
Your family surrounded you - your full family, “It’s old home week - first Echo, now you four.”
“Commander, did you receive the image that I sent to your inbox a few rotations ago?” Tech asked, “We had an assignment on Yalbec Prime, hence the Yalbec queen in the photo.”
You nodded, “I did see it, Tech. How interesting that the male Yalbec tried to mate with you after Wrecker cut off the queen’s stinger! Did you know it’s a delicacy on various planets?”
“This is why you are my favorite.”
Wrecker was next to speak, “How’ve ya been treating Lula’s kid? I mean, how has Lula’s kid been treating ya?”
You laughed at his attempt to cover up his concern for his tooka doll, “Lula the Second is great, Wrecker. I think she misses you, though. She’s in my quarters on the Endurance currently - I’ll return her to you after the mission.”
An ‘ooh’ escaped his mouth, “You did remember!”
“I could never forget, Wrecker.”
“Nice to see you haven’t gotten yourself killed. Or maimed.” The velvety voice of Crosshair filled the air.
“Aw, so you do care!” You retorted with a laugh, “I’m glad you’re alive too.”
Anakin cut in, “Sorry to break up this heartfelt reunion guys, but we have to go.”
“On it, General.” Tech made his way to the cockpit, starting the engines.
“You know this lot, Commander?” Echo asked you, surprised at the less-than-cordial interaction.
You nodded, “I worked with Clone Force 99 for a year after Master Umbari…” You trailed off, leaving Echo’s mind to fill in the blanks.
“They weren’t just working with us,” Hunter interjected, “they were part of our squad. Always will be.”
“I remember when you were assigned to their squad,” Anakin reminisced, “They were odd circumstances.”
“That they were,” You replied, “The Council thought it best to assign me to Clone Force 99 while they found me a new Master.”
“I expressed interest in taking you on as my Padawan,” Anakin started, “The council declined, regardless of how desperate they were.”
“What happened to Ahsoka?” Echo asked, a new conversation spurring between the two.
You left them to their conversation, heading to the cockpit with Hunter trailing right behind you.
“Just like old times,” You spoke to the four clones that surrounded you, placing a hand to your heart, “It’s nice to be back in the Marauder. The Endurance is…”
“Awful? Terrible? Horrible?” Hunter replied, “It’s nice to have you with us again, Commander.”
Tech called Echo to the cockpit, as the ship was nearing Trench’s. Echo plugged in his arm, transmitting Separatist transport ship codes to disguise the Omnicron-class shuttle you were on. It was a genius plan, but you could tell the Batch didn’t trust him.
“Let him do this,” You said to the group surrounding you, “He spent so long unwillingly helping the Separatists, let him do this. For the Republic.”
That seemed to get them off Echo’s back, as they allowed him to lead the rest of the way. The mission was going smoothly until Echo was scomped into their database, receiving a new order that Trench activated a bomb on Anaxes. Echo notified your Master as he tried to decipher the sequence numbers.
“If you can’t get the sequence, maybe Trench will give it to us.” You said before running out of the room, feeling for Trench’s presence in the ship. You ignored the voices behind you calling your name, instead trusting your gut. You ran through the ship, finding Trench in the command deck.
After taking out his droids, you found yourself with your green blade at his neck.
“You won’t kill me. It’s not the Jedi way,” He clicked, very sure of himself.
You sliced off his artificial arms, proving that you indeed would kill him, “You had my best friend taken prisoner and used his mind to your advantage. Don’t tell me what I won’t do.”
Trench begrudgingly gave you the last digit to the code - 7. You adjusted your comm frequency to Master Windu’s, hearing them discuss the sequence.
“Let me take the guesswork out of it, Master Skywalker,” you said into the metal device, “Try seven.”
After your master successfully disarmed the bomb, you felt an excruciating pain in your left arm, accompanied by a thump coming from the floor. You groaned in pain before looking the culprit in the eye and stabbing him with your ignited lightsaber.
You turned your comm frequency to Anakin’s and called him for help, which he rushed to give you. After seeing a dead Trench on the floor accompanied by your missing hand, he tapped a few buttons on a nearby console, a hand-held detonator popping out of it.
“You’re okay. You’re alright, Padawan.” He consoled you, “I know what it’s like. Everything will be alright.”
You felt a sharp pain in your head, followed by your eyes closing. Before you could fall, Anakin caught you - “I gotcha.”

What I Feel For You
Thena xf!reader
It’s 400 AD and the height of the Gupta Empire. Over 5,000 years have passed since you first gazed upon Thena and you haven’t stopped looking at her since.
A/N: This has been on my mind since I rewatched the film November and I’ve always felt that Eternals has been one of the more underrated movies of phase 4. Angelina Jolie is also brilliant as Thena obviously and since she’s bisexual in real life then her character has to be queer too. I don’t make the rules.
Word count: 2655
You supposed that stranger pairs had existed. As you gazed upon Sersi and Ikaris while they partook in their bonding ceremony, you couldn’t help but think about how different the two of them were. While Sersi was pure warmth that seemed to extend to every single person she met, Ikaris remained tactical and slightly removed from everything else that happened with the humans around them. But then you remembered how Sersi had softened him and the days of Babylon where he seemed to grow an entirely new perspective. He began learning the humans’ languages, became more involved in their development and culture, and allowed Sersi to lead him into something he would have otherwise left unfamiliar.
The problem was that you couldn’t change for Thena even though you longed to desperately. For her you would remake yourself from the dirt and clay you stood on, mold a new person with your own tears. Back in Babylon, she said that she didn’t come to Earth to cower behind walls, but that’s exactly what you did. On that day you had watched her fight deviants with cosmic weaponry and both the grace and strength of a thousand winds. You were behind the city walls, of course, for what else would you have been able to do?
Similar to Druig, your special ability was mostly psychological and didn’t serve much purpose on the battlefield. Communicating with animals had allowed you to assist the humans in their domestication but not much else when it came to fighting the deviants. In fact, you spent most of your time in the company of four-legged, scaly, or winged creatures and admiring your Thena from afar.
A few decades ago, the two of you had shared a dance during the humans’ celebration of solstice that Druig and Phastos sneakily planned. You remembered feeling more alive than ever with her arms around that night. A stupid joke that you told her actually made her smile the biggest you had ever seen and suddenly you were about to confess all the feelings that had been kept hidden over the course of thousands of years. But then in an instant, the entire party erupted into a swarm of chaos when a band of horns sounded out the spotting of some lurking deviants.
“Stay here, little one,” she had quickly told you before placing a brief kiss on your forehead and running off as a sword materialized into her hands. But you were certain that she had only been concerned about you as a friend would and quickly convinced yourself that she wasn’t interested.
And there was also Gilgamesh. Admittedly, there was a time earlier on into your mission that you wanted to resent him completely. He was strong, a natural protector, and capable of giving Thena that life of adventure you knew she longed for. The way that the two worked in sync when they fought was almost like an intricate dance you knew only two people with a deep personal connection could choreograph. You couldn’t help but covet what he had but being the giant teddy bear that he was it eventually softened you. Now, you tried to be happy for them both from the sidelines.
After the bonding ceremony you retreated to a nearby herd of elephants that you were growing pretty close with. You were languidly brushing the oldest female and leader of the herd when Ajak stumbled upon you.
“I’m sure these majestic creatures make wonderful company but a little bird told me that you’re avoiding someone in particular,” she approached you and the herd slowly. Ajak was always careful around animals and behaved much more respectfully than others like Kingo. Near Mount Erymanthos he had once tried to ride a giant wild boar on a dare from Sprite which had ended awfully for all parties involved. “Care to talk to old me about it?”
You knew that Ajak wasn’t a threat to the elephants so you silently directed them to let her through as you replied, “Birds are terrible gossips, you can’t trust them all the time.” That one made her chuckle a bit but then she became serious once again.
“Why don’t you talk to Thena? She cares about you, you know? We all do and just want to see you happy.”
“She doesn’t care about me the way that I care about her,” you sigh right before another elephant steals the brush from your hand and holds it up out of your reach with its trunk. “Hey, what the heck?”
“See? Even they know you’re being ridiculous. Why do you assume that she feels that way when you haven’t spoken about it?”
“Ajak, look at me,” you step back so that now all of the elephants tower over you like trees. Besides Sprite, you’re the shortest of the eternals and quite insecure about it. And while you weren’t bad looking by any means, Sersi and Makkari were certainly more beautiful than you were. You had always had an easier time blending into a crowd. “What can I give her that Gilgamesh can’t? She deserves someone like him who won’t hold her back. My life isn’t exciting and full of danger like hers. I would just bore her.”
That’s when Ajak gives you a stern, foreboding look and you know that you’ve upset her. “Careful there, I don’t want to hear you say things like that about yourself. You may not be a fighter like her but neither of you are just one single thing. You bring out a different side of her that no one else can and she has feelings for you too.”
That’s what makes your head shoot up at attention. “She... she told you that?” You can hardly believe what Ajak is telling you but suddenly your heart is bursting with hope.
“Actually, Gilgamesh and I were just discussing it.” That is... surprising. “But Thena has her own insecurities and isn’t certain how to talk to you either.”
“Why... why is that? She’s Thena! She’s the most incredible person I’ve ever known. She isn’t scared of anything.”
Ajak simply shrugs but gives you a suggestive look. “Sometime our judgment becomes clouded when we’re in love. Maybe it’s something you should think about.” With a smile, she gracefully turns on her heels and begins walking away.
The elephant hands you your brush back but by now you’re too distracted to continue brushing them. There’s an idea forming in your head and you need their opinion on something.
-~-
A few days later when everything is set up, you’re going over the plan one last time with Gilgamesh while Thena is out training.
“Do you think she’ll like it?” You’re certain that by now he must be sick of dealing with you but he simply laughs and gives you a nod.
“Relax, she’s going to love it! Just be yourself and she won’t be able to resist you.” You curse yourself for ever holding a grudge against Gilgamesh. He’s been nothing but sweet and supportive this entire time and you hope to someday repay him back. He pulls you into a warm hug before his eyes catch something and he becomes much quieter. “She’s right over there, good luck.”
When you turn to look at Thena, it’s like emerging from freezing cold waters and feeling the warmth of the sun on your face for the first time. Everything about her is mesmerizing and bright and it makes you feel like an entirely new being just discovering the wonders of the world. She looks at you with some understandable curiosity after seeing you and Gilgamesh innocently embrace and begins to walk towards you, her eyes never leaving yours. You’re determined not to break eye contact with her but a smile uncontrollably takes over your entire face until she’s only a few feet in front of you and finally speaks.
“Did I miss something?” She asks with a hint of playfulness in her tone and you quickly shake your head.
“No, you’re actually right on time,” this causes her to raise an eyebrow at you and you plead with yourself to stay strong. “I was hoping that you would join me for a ride, if you wanted to that is.”
Her surprised smile causes tingles to spread throughout your entire body. “I would be honored, sweet one, but what would we be riding?” You’re probably grinning like a child at this point but you just continue to stand there cheekily as the answer reveals itself. Out from the jungle, an elephant slowly saunters its way over towards the two of you and Thena’s eyes light up even more than usual. “She’s ethereal,” you hear her whisper before the elephant gives a reply.
“Her name is Aaloka and she says thank you,” you translate. “She also said she agrees with me.”
“Agrees with you on what?”
Be brave. “That you are very beautiful,” your words surprise her and a blush begins to cover her cheeks. It’s all so much to take in that you start to feel your heart race. The only other times it does that is when you’re fearful, but she’s the only one that makes it beat this way. It’s like it beats for her.
Aaloka kneels and Thena assists you on top first before gracefully leaping up behind you. You start to feel a bit overwhelmed by how high up you are with nothing to hold onto until she wraps your arms around your waist and instantly freeze. No one has ever held you like this before. Eventually, you allow yourself to relax your body and sink softly back into hers. It’s an unfamiliar feeling, but a welcome one.
“Are we just going to sit here or do you plan on taking me somewhere?” She asks playfully and it shakes you from your spell.
“Um, yes! Let’s go!”
Aaloka already knows which path to follow and it doesn’t take as long as you had expected for you to arrive at the spring. In the close distance is a waterfall that reflects the vibrant pinks, yellows, and oranges of the sky all around you. Thena lets go of you, which leaves you feeling somewhat empty, and is the first to dismount before you awkwardly try to slide your way down. At the very last second, the elephant moves one of her feet so that you trip forward and lose your balance. Thena immediately catches you in her arms with a soft laugh and brushes away some of your hair that’s been slightly tussled.
“Hey, that wasn’t very nice!” You scold the elephant which has no sense of guilt whatsoever. “She did that in purpose you know.” Thena chuckles once again with a look of amusement in her eyes.
“I think she knows that I like keeping you in my arms, sweet one,” Thena huskily breaths into your ear and it causes a gasp to escape from your mouth. Looking up into her giant hypnotizing orbs stops time itself. How did you become so lucky to be here with her? Doubt starts to settle in and you unconsciously cling to her harder.
“I just don’t know what I’ve done to deserve your affections. I’m not strong like you or fast like Makkari. Everyone on the team has a myth or a legend named after them except for me. Thena, they named a goddess and a city after you! But me? I’m nothing extraordinary.” The confession brings a frown on her face that instantly confuses you. What did you say that upset her?
“Do you really not see how incredible you are? You’re the most amazing person I know.” Thena looks at you with such admiration that it’s almost impossible for you not to believe her words. “If they name something else after Kingo I think his ego might cause his head to explode. But you, my darling, are too quick to discredit yourself for all the good you have helped put into this world. Things you have done from the pureness of your own heart even if you were scared, unsure of how to show the humans and animals how they must work together. Respect each other.”
“It’s my job,” you brush it off with a shrug, unsure of what she’s getting at. Nothing that you’ve done could ever compare to when she saved an entire city full of people. “You deserve someone just as strong as you are. A fighter that can protect you.”
“You think I can’t protect myself?” She raises an eyebrow at you and you realize how stupid you must have sounded.
“No, that’s not what I meant! Of course you’re… I meant to say that I wouldn’t want to… because I’m not-“
All the air dissipates from your lungs when her hand comes to rest at your cheek. Softly laughing, she drops the fake act of frustration in order to soothe you.
“Shhh, I was only joking, my dear. For the record, I’m not interested in a partner that can spar with me or deals with all their problems like Ikaris by blasting through everything. I only want you. You’ve taught me that there’s so much more to life than fighting. That there can be different ways of looking at the world.”
It’s at that same moment that the universe seems to send you a message in the form of thousands of green lights which begin to float up towards the sky. The synchronous dancing of the fireflies wasn’t something you had planned and you find it difficult to resist the smile that grows on your face. Standing together in the glowing green light, it feels nothing short of a truly magical moment.
“Y/N,” Thena softly whispers and you are brought back to the face of the most beautiful woman in the world looking at you with so much warmth. “I would never lie to you. So please believe me when I say I have never loved anyone else the way I love you.”
You’re sure your own heart is glowing within your chest brighter than all the fireflies in the world.
“You… You love me?” All of a sudden it feels as if you might float away. As long as she goes with you you’d be fine.
“Yes, darling. I love you and I’d be honored to be yours.”
“I love you too!” You throw your arms around her neck while Thena giggles, instinctively pulling your bodies closer together.
“May I kiss you, little one?” She breaths in your ear, sending shivers of anticipation across every inch of your skin.
“Please do,” you answer with a smile before your lips finally meet.
Your kiss is exactly like all the wonderful things you love about Thena. She’s gentle yet passionate, pouring all of her desire for you into the kiss while still being incredibly soft and responsive. In all your years of living you’ve never kissed anyone before. You’ve secretly observed human couples of all types share countless kisses throughout history. You feel like you’ve been forced to sit through even more between Sersi and Ikaris in the past century alone. Every time you’ve wondered what It must be like to experience something so magical. With Thena, you’re certain you finally understand what all of the fuss was about. Nothing else has ever felt so right.
The two of you eventually separate when you’re both startled by the sound of Aaloka triumphantly cheering. Thena pulls you closer to her as you laugh, smiling directly into the crook of her neck.
“What did she say?” Thena asks.
“Something along the lines of ‘It was about time already!’”
“Well I have been waiting to kiss you for only a few thousand years!”
Feeling bold, you reach up to take Thena’s face into your hands. “Maybe we should make up for the lost time?”
“Definitely,” she agrees before swooping down to bring your lips together once again.

“Y/N, would you stay for a moment after class?” Professor Sprout asked, making eye contact with the young Hufflepuff from across the room.
“Of course, professor!” Y/N responded, before returning to their Herbology notes.
They were so close to failing the class. A few more times of messing up their assignments and they were for sure in trouble. For years now, Y/N had been doing everything they could to get their grade up, but nothing seemed to be working. Luckily, this did not go unnoticed by her classmates.
Luna Lovegood, Y/Ns best friend, had been worried about their grade for weeks. She offered her notes, took her on study dates, and was doing everything she could to help, but nothing seemed to be working.
Her other Hufflepuff classmates also tried to help. Before Cedric Diggory had… you know, he attempted to tutor Y/N. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.
However, Luna was friends with Neville Longbottom. Neville was an extremely gifted Herbologist. Luna knew for sure he could help Y/N.
And, to make things better, Luna knew of Y/N’s gigantic crush on Neville, and knew exactly what to do.
“Professor?” She asked, stepping up to Professor Sprout with a grin on her face.
“Yes, Miss Lovegood?” The plump woman responded, turning her body and head towards her and offering a smile.
Luna pointed at her best friend, who was desperately flipping through their notes, “My friend, Y/N, they’re just so close to failing this class. I’ve tried anything and everything I could, offering my notes, asking other friends to offer their notes, but nothing seems to be helping.”
The professor raised a brow at the blonde girl, indicating for her to go on.
“Neville Longbottom. He’s a brilliant Herbologist. A couple years ago, I myself was failing this class, do you recall? He was a lovely tutor, he’s the reason I’m still so good at Herbology. I was thinking he could tutor Y/N. He may be the only person who can save them at this point.”
The older woman nodded slowly. Perhaps this was the only way Y/N could pull themselves out of the dirt.
She smiled at Luna brightly. “That’s a wonderful idea! At first, I was just going to assign some homework, but yes, I think Mr. Longbottom is a great idea. Thank you, Miss Lovegood.”
Luna smiled back at the professor, “No problem.”
And with that lovely news, she skipped back to Y/N, and the two began to talk.
Soon enough, the class was over. Luna and Professor Sprout made eye contact as the blonde girl walked out, being reminded of the two students she needed to speak to.
“You wanted to see me, Professor?” Y/N asked, nervously wringing their hands together as their chest pinched with fear.
“Mr. Longbottom, come here for a moment.” The professor asked, glancing between the two students.
Y/Ns heart almost stopped beating. They’d been crushing on Neville for weeks. He was so smart, and he’d always been very kind to Y/N. Always made sure to point out what they were doing wrong in Herbology if he noticed they needed help. It didn’t help that Y/N also thought he was quite pretty.
“Have you two met before?” The older woman asked politely once they were both standing beside eachother.
Y/N opened their mouth to speak, but the anxiousness has caused their throat to close up.
“Not formally.” Neville answered, glancing at them with a seemingly worried expression.
“Well, I may as well get to the point. Neville, I want you to tutor Y/N. She’s very close to failing Herbology and Luna Lovegood enlightened me that you may be able to help. Is that okay with you two?”
Of course, Y/N thought, Lunas behind this, who else would be?
“That’s perfectly fine! I don’t mind at all!” They answered way to quickly, feeling their face begin to heat up and their chest make the same familiar pinching feeling.
Neville smiled politely. “I’d love to, professor.”
The woman smiled. “Great! Now, I want you both to work out a schedule on the way to lunch. Alright?”
The students nodded, walking out together.
“So, I was thinking we could meet 3 times a week. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, easy to remember. What do you think?”
The boy turned his head to the person beside him, mentally noting their nervousness so he didn’t accidentally freak them out.
“That’s good. I can do that. Today’s Monday, should we meet today?” Y/N asked, turning their head away so he didn’t see their flushed cheeks, which didn’t work because he saw them immediately.
“I don’t see why not, I’ll meet you in the greenhouse at 8PM, i'll tell Professor Sprout we’re going to be there so we don’t get in trouble.”
Y/N nodded, realizing they were in the Great Hall.
Before turning on their heel and scattering away to their Hufflepuff friends, they muttered a quick thank you, and did exactly that.
“Was that Neville Longbottom?” Hannah Abbot asked excitedly.
“How did it go? What were you talking about?” Susan Bones asked right after.
Y/N breathed out happily, “He’s my Herbology tutor now! Professor Sprout asked him to help me!”
The three of them had a very long conversation about this unexpected news. Y/N didn’t see the boy from a few minutes ago staring at them.
“What are you looking at?” Ron Weasley asked, aggressively cutting his meat.
Hermione Granger followed Nevilles gaze, ending up on the Hufflepuff.
“Y/N, huh? They’re very nice, just a bit nervous all the time.” She said, now beaming with delight.
Nevilles cheeks were now flushed. “I just spoke with them, Professor Sprout asked me to be their tutor. We’re meeting tonight at 8.” He said, now also grinning.
“Good luck, Neville!” Harry Potter said, smacking his back.
As his back was turned, Neville was now oblivious to the one staring at him.
~
Y/N sat in the greenhouse nervously. Neville was running a bit late, and they were beginning to fear he had forgotten.
This feeling was long forgotten as the greenhouse doors burst open.
The dark-haired boy appeared in the doorway, a focused expression on his cute face, and a pile of books in his arms, and even more in a bag he had on his back.
Y/N rushed over to him, taking a few of the books in their arms. “Neville!” They exclaimed, “Put these down, open the bag, i have something to show you.” They said, while hurriedly placing the books on the table.
Neville nodded and dropped them down on the wooden surface, opening the bag for Y/N, a confused looking replacing the focused one.
They cleared their throat, and spoke clearly, “Capacious extremis.”
The bag, which was overfilled a few moments ago, expanded, making it much easier for when Neville had to carry everything back after their session.
“There,” Y/N said with an awkward smile, “that should make everything, you know, less hard to carry.”
Nevilles eyes twinkled with amazement, and he began to grin widely.
“Y/N, that was amazing! I can never remember that charm, and that was so smart of you!”
Once again, he took notice of the way Y/Ns cheeks heated up, and laughed a little.
Meanwhile, Y/N was at a loss for words, normally they could respond to compliments just fine. But, this one came from Neville, which automatically made their whole week.
“Anyways, where do you want to start?” Neville politely asked, pulling on his gardening gloves.
“We were learning about Bowtruckles, and Professor Sprout asked me to write a double sided parchment on their behaviour. I can’t find anything good enough for it though, and this is the 8th time this year I haven’t been able to write an assignment like this.”
His face lit up at the mention of Bowtruckles, very clearly excited to talk about them with somebody.
“Well,” he began, flipping through one of the books, “it’s a very peaceful and shy creature. However, if the tree it lives in is threatened, it attempts to harm the one who’s hurting the tree. If you offer woodlice, the Bowtruckle will be less angry and hostile, and you can get some wood-wand from its tree.”
He turned his gaze back towards Y/N, who was leaning on the table, listening intently and watching his face with wonder on theirs.
“Here, I’d recommend these books. They explain a whole bunch of things about Bowtruckles. Read chapters 6, 9, and 18 here, and then I can help you write that assignment.” He said, smiling at Y/N happily.
They nodded, giving a sincere and genuine thank you, which made his heart flutter, and then they grabbed the books and quickly ran back to the Hufflepuff common room.
And, this went on for weeks. Y/N and Neville meeting and trying to fix their Herbology grade.
The best parts?
A) Y/Ns grade was improving! They were understanding a bit more, and had grown a lot closer with Neville. At this point, the two of them were inseparable when they weren’t in separate classes.
B) Y/N was purposely forgetting and pretending not to understand things so she and Neville could continue meeting. It was all part of her master plan.
~
On this special day in April, Neville was happily talking and grinning adorably about Herbology during one of their sessions.
Y/N wasn’t listening though. They were focused on Nevilles face, and how his eyes were shining, his cheeks were flushed, and, his lips. They wanted to stand up and kiss them so badly.
They wanted to kiss Neville until they were the only thing Neville could think about.
They wanted to kiss Neville until they both couldn’t think straight.
They wanted to kiss Neville until they couldn’t breathe.
And, Neville did too. For the past weeks, it was all he wanted to do.
Sadly, Y/N was unaware of Nevilles true feelings. That wasn’t going to stop their next move though.
He was standing in front of them, leaning on the desk and rambling on and on about something. Y/N stood up, and pressed their lips against his.
And, there it was. A spark. The spark they’d both been dreaming of for months.
Neville kissed back, gently placing his hands on either side of their face, while their hands rested on his shoulders.
When they pulled away, both of their faces were flushed and they were slightly panting.
“I, uh, so i’ve kinda liked you for.. about 2 years by my best guess, and I wasnt thinking, so I kissed you. And, i’m sorry? I think?” They said, awkwardly placing their hands by their side and refusing to make eye contact.
Neville laughed, taking their cold and shaky hands in his. “I’ve liked you for awhile too. I don’t think I was ever going to tell you anytime soon though.”
Y/N rolled their eyes with a playful smile. “You’re so weird.”
“So are you.”
The session ended with no more work being done, and the two laughing and making out, and then Neville walked Y/N to the Hufflepuff common room, getting one last kiss before they went to sleep.

"Burning Hearts and Telekinetic Love: A Superhero Romance Adventure"
Alex stared at the fiery ball of energy in his hands, wondering how he could control this newfound power. As a fire-powered superhero, he had always been confident and fearless, but now he felt a sense of vulnerability that he hadn't experienced before. He knew that the stakes were higher than ever; an evil force threatened to destroy the world, and it was up to him and his team to stop them. Lucy, a scientist with telekinetic abilities, stood beside Alex, her eyes fixed on the impending darkness looming over their city. She had always been a logical thinker, but there was something about the fire-wielding hero that captivated her mind and heart. As they worked together to devise a plan, she found herself drawn to him, and the feeling seemed mutual. As the sun began to set, casting an ominous orange glow on the skyline, Alex and Lucy exchanged glances, knowing that their time was running out. "We need a plan," Alex whispered, his voice wavering with determination. "I've been thinking," Lucy replied, her telekinetic abilities working overtime to move objects around them. "We can use our powers to create a diversion and draw the evil forces away from the city." Alex nodded, his eyes blazing with resolve. "That could give us enough time to find their base and stop them for good." Together, they set their plan in motion, combining their superpowers to create an impressive display of fire and telekinesis. As they fought side by side, their connection grew stronger, and so did the hope that they would prevail against the evil forces that threatened their world. Alex's fiery embers danced in the darkness, casting eerie shadows as he struggled to control his newfound power. His heart raced, and sweat beaded on his forehead. He couldn't let his fear consume him; it was time to show courage and save the world. Lucy, a brilliant scientist with telekinetic abilities, watched from afar, captivated by Alex's determination and raw strength. She admired his bravery, even as he grappled with his own insecurities. A twinge of concern for him stirred within her, but she knew they needed each other to succeed. "Alex," Lucy called out, her voice barely a whisper amidst the chaos. "We can do this together." Her telekinetic energy lifted a fallen tree and hurled it at an approaching enemy, creating enough space for Alex to regain his composure. "Lucy, I'm not sure I can handle this," Alex confessed, his voice wavering. "I might accidentally hurt you." "Trust me, Alex," Lucy replied, her confidence unwavering. "We need each other now more than ever. Let's fight together and show them that love can conquer all odds." As their partnership grew stronger, so did their romance. They fought side by side, devising a plan to draw the evil forces away from the city and find their base. Their connection deepened, forged in the crucible of adversity. Together, they confronted the enemy, proving that love could indeed conquer all odds. United, Alex and Lucy defeated the evil force that threatened their world, and in doing so, discovered a love that would stand the test of time. In the small, peaceful town of Serenity, two extraordinary individuals found themselves drawn together by destiny. Alex, a young man with fiery red hair and eyes that sparkled like embers, had been hiding his true identity as a fire-powered superhero for years. Lucy, a brilliant scientist with telekinetic abilities, had come to town seeking answers about her past and the mysterious force that seemed to be growing stronger each day. As Alex and Lucy crossed paths more frequently, their friendship blossomed into a deep romance. They would often spend hours talking under the moonlit sky, sharing their dreams and fears. Lucy's laughter was contagious, and Alex found solace in her intelligence and wit. "You know, I never thought I'd find someone who could understand my powers," Alex confessed one evening, his voice filled with awe. "And yet, here you are." Lucy smiled softly, taking his hand in hers. "I've always believed that everyone has something special inside them. It just takes the right person to see it and bring it out." As their love grew stronger, so did the darkness looming over Serenity. The evil force, known as Zarkon, threatened to destroy everything they held dear. Alex and Lucy knew they had to make a choice: stay together and risk losing each other or separate in hopes of saving their beloved town. The decision weighed heavily on their hearts, but ultimately they decided that their love was worth fighting for. Together, they confronted Zarkon and his army of villains, proving that even in the darkest times, love could conquer all odds. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden light over the city. In the heart of it all, Alex and Lucy stood side by side, their hearts racing with anticipation. As the darkness enveloped them, they knew that tonight was the night when their powers would be tested like never before. "Are you ready?" Alex asked, his eyes glowing with the intensity of a thousand flames. He clenched his fists, feeling the power coursing through him, waiting to be unleashed. Lucy nodded, her telekinetic energy humming through her fingertips. "I've been training for this my entire life. I won't let you down." Their shared determination was palpable as they began their mission. The city was under siege, the shadows alive with the malevolent presence of evil forces. As they fought, the power of their love only grew stronger, fueling their resolve and their abilities. "Lucy, watch out!" Alex shouted as he saw a dark figure lunging towards her. In a split second, Lucy raised her hand, and with a telekinetic whirlwind, she sent the assailant flying back into the shadows from which it came. "Thank you," she whispered, her eyes brimming with gratitude and affection. Their gazes locked, and in that moment, they knew – love had conquered fear. Their partnership and romance blossomed, and together, they defeated the evil forces that threatened their world. Through every battle, they learned more about each other, and their bond grew stronger. In the end, they proved that love truly was the most powerful force of all. As they continued their journey, Alex and Lucy found themselves in the heart of the enemy's territory. The air was thick with tension as they sneaked through the dark alleys, their hearts pounding in anticipation. "Do you think they've figured out our plan yet?" Lucy whispered, her eyes darting around nervously. Alex squeezed her hand reassuringly. "Not if we stay focused and keep moving," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. As they navigated the labyrinth of streets, they stumbled upon a group of innocent civilians being harassed by the evil forces. Without hesitation, Lucy used her telekinetic abilities to free them from their captors, while Alex created a diversion with his fire powers. The civilians looked at them in awe, whispering about their mysterious protectors. "We can't save everyone," Alex said softly as they resumed their journey. "But we can make a difference." Lucy nodded, her resolve strengthened by his words. As the days turned into weeks, their partnership and romance blossomed. They shared stories of their pasts, dreams for their future, and the fears that kept them awake at night. In between battles, they found moments of peace in each other's company, their laughter echoing through the city like a beacon of hope. One fateful day, they were confronted by the leader of the evil forces, who had been watching them closely all along. "You think you can defeat me?" he sneered, his voice laced with malice. Alex and Lucy exchanged determined glances before charging forward, their love for each other and their mission fueling their every move. In the end, they emerged victorious, their love and unity proving to be a force more powerful than any evil could withstand. Together, they had conquered all odds, and in doing so, discovered that love truly was the most potent weapon of all. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the city. Alex and Lucy stood side by side, gazing at the breathtaking view. Their fingers gently touched, creating an electric spark that seemed to light up their surroundings. "This is incredible," Lucy whispered, her voice barely audible above the soft rustling of leaves. "It's moments like these that make me realize how lucky I am to have you," Alex replied, his eyes never leaving hers. Their relationship had been a whirlwind of emotions, but they couldn't deny the bond that had formed between them. Their connection went beyond mere attraction; it was as if they were destined to be together. And yet, there was something else, a sense of duty and responsibility that tugged at their hearts. "We can't let our feelings distract us from our mission," Lucy said, her voice steady and determined. "Evil still threatens our world." "You're right," Alex agreed, his jaw clenching as he thought of the battles they had fought, and those yet to come. As if on cue, an alarm sounded in the distance, signaling that another battle had begun. Without a moment's hesitation, they turned and sprinted towards the source of the noise. Their hearts raced with anticipation and fear, but also with a burning desire to protect those they loved. In the heart of the conflict, Alex and Lucy fought side by side, their powers complementing each other like two pieces of a puzzle. As they battled the forces of darkness, their love only grew stronger. "I need you to stay back," Alex warned, his eyes scanning the battlefield. "There's too much at stake." But Lucy was never one to follow orders easily. With a determined glint in her eye, she rushed forward to join him, using her telekinetic abilities to deflect enemy attacks and protect her partner. In that moment, as they stood together against the darkness, Alex realized something: their love wasn't a distraction, it was their greatest strength. And with that knowledge, they fought harder than ever before, knowing that their bond could withstand any challenge. Alex and Lucy stood side by side, their powers glowing as they prepared for battle against the dark forces that threatened their world. The air was thick with tension, as they knew this fight would determine not only their fate but also the fate of all those they loved. "I won't let anything happen to you, Lucy," Alex whispered, his eyes locked onto the encroaching darkness. Lucy smiled reassuringly, her telekinetic powers whirring gently as she responded, "And I won't let anything happen to you, Alex." The two exchanged a glance, their hearts racing in unison. With a deep breath, they charged into the fray, their powers igniting like a beacon of hope in the face of the darkness. As they fought alongside each other, their skills complemented one another perfectly. Alex's fire blazed hotter and brighter as he sensed Lucy's unwavering determination. In turn, Lucy's telekinesis became more precise and powerful under Alex's influence. Their combined strength began to turn the tide of the battle, and they could sense the evil forces growing weaker. However, just as they were about to deliver the final blow, a massive wave of darkness surged forth, enveloping them in its cold embrace. In that moment, Alex and Lucy's hearts raced with fear, but their love for one another overcame it. "Lucy," Alex gasped, his voice barely audible over the cacophony of the battle, "I need you to trust me. I can break through this." With a nod, Lucy concentrated her telekinetic powers, creating a shield around them both as Alex focused his energy into a single, searing beam of fire. The darkness hesitated for just a moment before it was engulfed by the blaze, shattering like glass and exposing the weakened leader of the evil forces. Together, they struck the final blow, sealing the dark forces' fate once and for all. As the dust settled, Alex and Lucy found themselves in each other's arms, their hearts pounding in unison as they looked into one another's eyes. In that moment, they knew they had conquered not only the darkness but also their own fears. Their love had truly entwined them together, proving that even in the face of the most daunting challenges, love could always conquer all. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the city. Alex and Lucy stood side by side, their powers glowing in unison. As the darkness encroached, they knew they had to make a stand. "We can't let them win," Lucy whispered, her voice filled with determination. "We have to do something." "I know," Alex replied, his eyes focused on the growing darkness. "But we can't do this alone." Without another word, they began to channel their powers, preparing for battle. The air crackled with energy as their abilities surged. Together, they were an unstoppable force against the evil that threatened their world. "Lucy, use your telekinesis to create a shield," Alex ordered, his voice firm and resolute. "I'll focus all my firepower into one concentrated beam." As the wave of darkness closed in, Lucy raised her hands, and a force field materialized around them. Alex channeled his energy, and a blazing beam pierced through the darkness, shattering it like glass. The evil forces recoiled, their power diminishing before their very eyes. "We did it," Lucy breathed, awestruck by their combined strength. "We defeated them." Alex smiled, his gaze locked on her face. "It was only possible because of you, Lucy. Together, we're unbeatable." In that moment, they realized the truth: their love had given them the power to overcome any challenge. And as they stood victorious, their hearts entwined in battle, they knew their love would conquer all odds. As Alex and Lucy stood side by side, their hearts raced with anticipation. The darkness that surrounded them was like nothing they had ever faced before. Their powers seemed to amplify the danger, but also ignited a passion within them. "I don't know if we can do this," Lucy whispered, her voice wavering with doubt. "We have no choice," Alex replied, his voice firm and resolute. "Our love for each other is stronger than any darkness." With that, they joined hands, their powers blending as they prepared to face the evil forces together. The air crackled with energy as their fire and telekinesis danced in sync, creating an aura of protection around them. The darkness tried to consume them, but Alex and Lucy stood firm, their love and determination shining brighter than ever before. "I've never felt so alive," Lucy said, her voice trembling with awe. "We did it," Lucy breathed, awestruck by their victory. Alex pulled her close, his fire-powered touch warming her through their protective barrier. "Together, we can conquer anything." And as the darkness retreated once more, Alex and Lucy stood hand in hand, their hearts entwined in battle, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Alex and Lucy were once just two ordinary people, living in a world filled with darkness. They had never imagined that they would one day become heroes, fighting against the very evil that threatened their city. But destiny had other plans for them. As the darkness crept closer to their hometown, Alex found himself enveloped by an uncontrollable firepower, while Lucy discovered her hidden telekinetic abilities. They were both thrust into a world of danger and mystery, but they were not alone in their fight. Standing side by side on the rooftops of the city, Alex and Lucy looked out upon the darkness that threatened to consume everything in its path. Their hearts raced as they knew they had to act, for the people they loved were in grave danger. "We have to stop this, Lucy," Alex whispered, his voice trembling with fear and determination. "Together, we can do it." Lucy nodded solemnly, her eyes filled with a fierce resolve. "You're right. We've got to put everything we've got into this." As they faced the darkness, their powers began to intertwine, creating an unstoppable force of good. Alex's fire danced and flickered in time with Lucy's telekinesis, creating a beautiful spectacle that was both mesmerizing and terrifying for their enemies. The darkness recoiled at the sight, knowing it had underestimated these two heroes. "We can't let them win," Lucy whispered as they battled against the evil forces. "We have to stay strong." Alex gripped her hand tightly, his eyes locked on their shared mission. "Together, we are unstoppable." And so, with every ounce of courage and love they had for one another, Alex and Lucy fought against the darkness that threatened their city. As they stood together, hand in hand, they became a symbol of hope to those who looked upon them. And though their battle was far from over, they knew that as long as they had each other, they could face any challenge that came their way. Once upon a time in the mystical land of Veritas, two heroes were destined to find each other. Alex, a fiery hero with the power to manipulate fire, had been wandering the world, searching for a purpose. Lucy, a brilliant scientist with telekinetic abilities, was on a mission to understand her powers and use them for good. One fateful day, the darkness descended upon Veritas, threatening to extinguish all hope. Alex and Lucy crossed paths as they both tried to defend their beloved land. Their eyes met, and in that moment, they knew their lives were forever entwined. As they battled side by side against the evil forces, their love grew stronger, illuminating the darkest corners of their hearts. "We can't let them win," Alex whispered passionately, his voice filled with determination. Lucy nodded, her eyes shining with resolve. "We have to stand together, no matter what." In the midst of the chaos, they found solace in each other's presence. Their love became a beacon of hope for all those who faced the darkness. Together, they fought fearlessly, their hearts entwined in battle against the forces that threatened to destroy everything they held dear. And as the sun finally broke through the clouds, Alex and Lucy stood hand in hand, ready to face any challenges that lay ahead. Their love had shown them that even in the darkest of times, hope could be found, and together, they would conquer all obstacles that came their way. Alex and Lucy's love only grew stronger as they faced the darkness together, their hearts entwined in battle. As they fought side by side, their love became a beacon of hope amidst the chaos. "We have to stop this," Alex shouted over the noise of the impending doom. "I know," Lucy replied, her telekinetic abilities working in tandem with his fire-powered skills. The evil forces were relentless, but their love for each other fueled their determination. They fought together, a force to be reckoned with. "We can't let them win!" Alex exclaimed, as they defeated one enemy after another. "As long as we have each other," Lucy whispered, her eyes filled with warmth and admiration. Their hearts beat in unison, their love transcending the chaos around them. Together, they were unstoppable. And hand in hand, they stood ready to face any future challenges that would come their way. In the city of Valoria, nestled between towering mountains and vast forests, the darkness was encroaching. The once-vibrant streets were now eerily quiet, with fear gripping the hearts of its inhabitants. Alex, a fire-powered superhero known as Pyroflare, stood atop a building, scanning the horizon for any signs of trouble. As he did so, his eyes locked onto a figure in the distance, her silhouette illuminated by the pale moonlight. It was Lucy, a brilliant scientist with telekinetic abilities. As Alex watched Lucy's every move, he couldn't help but admire her strength and intellect. He had been secretly keeping an eye on her work for quite some time now, drawn to her in ways he couldn't explain. With a deep breath, he leaped from the rooftop, soaring through the sky towards her. "Lucy! Are you alright?" Alex called out as he approached, his voice echoing through the night. Lucy turned and looked at him, surprise etched across her face. "Alex?" she asked, her voice a hushed whisper. "What are you doing here? I thought the city was under attack." "I felt it too," Alex replied, landing beside her. "I came to see if there's anything I can do to help." As they stood together, a bond began to form between them. Their shared purpose and newfound connection strengthened their resolve in facing the darkness that threatened Valoria. They knew that as long as they had each other, they could endure any challenge. And so, with love in their hearts and courage in their souls, Alex and Lucy joined forces to protect their city and defeat the evil that sought to engulf it. Alex and Lucy, two superheroes with unique abilities, had been working together for years to protect their city from darkness. Alex's fiery powers were matched only by Lucy's telekinetic prowess. Yet, as they fought side by side, a spark began to ignite between them. Their shared experiences and the weight of responsibility brought them closer. One day, while facing an unprecedented wave of evil forces, their connection deepened. In the heat of battle, Alex and Lucy found themselves surrounded by darkness. With each step forward, the shadows seemed to grow stronger, threatening to consume them all. But they refused to yield. "We can't let them win," Alex said, his voice filled with determination. "As long as we stand together, we'll never lose." Lucy looked into Alex's eyes and knew he was right. "You're my anchor in this storm, Alex," she replied. "Together, we can conquer anything." With renewed hope, they fought back against the darkness, their hearts entwined in the battle. As the shadows receded, Alex and Lucy's love for each other became a beacon of light. Their love was no longer just a secret, but a testament to the power of unity and the strength that comes from facing adversity side by side. Hand in hand, they stood ready to face any future challenges that might come their way. In the realm of superheroes and romance, two extraordinary individuals found love amidst chaos. Alex, a fire-powered hero with an iron will, fought fiercely against evil forces that threatened their world. Lucy, a brilliant scientist gifted with telekinetic abilities, devoted her life to understanding the origins of these powers and how to harness them for good. As they continued to battle against the darkness, Alex and Lucy discovered that their hearts were entwined in more ways than one. They found solace in each other's presence, sharing their fears and dreams while unraveling the mystery behind their abilities. "We can't let them win," Lucy said, her voice trembling with determination. "We have to fight back, for us and for everyone else." Alex nodded, his eyes filled with resolve. "Together, we can stand against the darkness and show them that love is more powerful than fear." Hand in hand, they faced their enemies, their love a beacon of hope that illuminated even the darkest corners of their world. As they stood together, ready to face any future challenges, Alex and Lucy realized that their love was far greater than just a romantic connection – it was the very force that bound them together in their battle against evil. And with hearts entwined, they would always find a way to conquer the darkness. Alex, a fire-powered superhero, was known for his courage and strength. He had always been passionate about protecting the innocent from evil forces. Lucy, a brilliant scientist, possessed telekinetic abilities that could bend the elements to her will. Their paths crossed when they were both assigned to a mission to stop an impending darkness threatening their city. As Alex and Lucy faced this menacing force together, their connection grew stronger. They discovered that in each other's presence, their powers amplified, creating a formidable alliance against the darkness. The two superheroes found solace in one another's company as they navigated through treacherous battles. "We must keep our focus on defeating this evil," Alex warned Lucy between deep breaths, "But I can't help but feel drawn to you." Lucy blushed and looked away, "I...I can't explain it, but I feel the same way." In the midst of their struggle, they found comfort in each other's arms. The love that bloomed between them became a beacon of hope amidst the chaos, a symbol of resilience against the darkness. Hand in hand, Alex and Lucy stood ready to face any future challenges together, knowing that their love would always conquer the evil forces that sought to tear them apart. In just 248 words, I expanded on the initial story by adding dialog and further developing the relationship between Alex and Lucy, while staying within the set word limit. Alex, a young man with fiery red hair and eyes that sparkled like embers, had always been fascinated by fire. He had discovered his extraordinary abilities at a very young age when he accidentally set his bedroom on fire and inadvertently saved his life. Little did he know that this was just the beginning of his journey as a superhero. Lucy, a brilliant scientist with a sharp mind and an uncanny ability to manipulate matter with her thoughts, had always been an outsider in her own way. Her telekinetic powers made her feel isolated from others, but she never let that stop her from pursuing her dreams. She had dedicated her life to studying the forces of nature and finding a way to harness their power for good. One day, as Alex was battling the darkness that threatened their city, he discovered Lucy's lab and found himself in the midst of an intense battle with an unknown enemy. Their powers complemented each other perfectly, and they quickly realized that together, they could defeat this malevolent force. As they fought side by side, a deep connection formed between them, stronger than any bond they had ever experienced before. "Lucy," Alex whispered as they regrouped, "I've never felt anything like this before." "Me neither, Alex," she replied, her eyes meeting his with an intensity he had never seen before. "It's like our hearts are entwined in battle." Together, they faced the darkness, and their love for each other became a beacon of hope amidst the chaos. As they stood hand in hand, ready to face any future challenges that came their way, they knew that they had found something truly special – a love that could withstand even the darkest forces. In the realm of superheroes, two hearts found each other amidst chaos and darkness. Alex, a fiery warrior with flames dancing in his hands, and Lucy, a brilliant scientist with telekinetic abilities, were brought together by their shared destiny. Together, they formed an unstoppable force against the forces of evil that threatened their world. One fateful day, as they stood side by side in battle against the darkness, Alex's fiery passion ignited Lucy's heart. As their powers intertwined, so did their love, creating a beacon of hope that shone brightly even in the blackest corners of the world. "Lucy," whispered Alex as they stood victorious over the defeated shadows, "I never thought I could feel this way about anyone." "And I never imagined I'd find someone who could match my strength and passion, Alex," Lucy replied with a smile that lit up her eyes. As their love grew stronger, so did their resolve. Together, they vowed to face any challenge that came their way, hand in hand, hearts entwined, ready to protect the world they loved. And in the end, it was their unyielding devotion to one another and their shared purpose that made them invincible. Hearts Entwined in Battle In the city of Arcanum, two superheroes, Alex and Lucy, were known for their exceptional abilities. Alex, with his fiery powers, was a force to be reckoned with. Lucy, on the other hand, was a brilliant scientist who harnessed her telekinetic abilities to protect the citizens. One fateful night, an eerie darkness enveloped the city. The darkness threatened to consume everything in its path, leaving nothing but despair and fear behind. Alex and Lucy knew they had to stop it together, or else Arcanum would be lost forever. As the battle raged on, the darkness grew stronger, testing their resolve. Amidst the chaos, they found solace in each other's presence. Their conversation was filled with courage and hope, fueling their determination to save their beloved city. "We can't let this darkness win," Alex growled, his voice echoing through the night. "We have to fight together!" Lucy nodded, her eyes gleaming with determination. "You're right, Alex. We need to show them that love and hope can conquer even the darkest forces." As they fought side by side, their love for each other became a beacon of hope amidst the darkness. Their combined powers grew stronger, illuminating the night sky with shades of blue and orange. Finally, after an intense battle, Alex and Lucy stood hand in hand, victorious over the darkness. They knew that together, they could face any challenge, and their love for each other was unbreakable. With hope in their hearts, they vowed to protect Arcanum from any future evil forces that dared to threaten it. And so, the story of Hearts Entwined in Battle became a legend among the citizens of Arcanum, inspiring generations to come with the power of love and unity. Alex's flames danced wildly, a fiery testament to his fire-powered abilities. He was a hero, but beneath the bravado, he yearned for something more. Little did he know, that someone else shared his longing - Lucy. A scientist with telekinetic powers, she too felt an emptiness in her heart. Their paths crossed when they were summoned to fight a mysterious darkness that threatened their world. As the battle commenced, Alex and Lucy found themselves working together, their abilities complementing each other perfectly. They exchanged glances, a silent understanding forming between them. "We make quite a team, don't we?" Alex said, his voice filled with a mixture of wonder and apprehension. "Indeed, we do," Lucy replied, her eyes sparkling with newfound hope. As they battled the darkness, their powers intertwined, creating a force that neither had experienced before. The connection between them grew stronger, fueling not only their abilities but also their feelings for each other. In the heat of the moment, Alex leaned in and kissed Lucy gently, their lips meeting with a passion borne out of shared trials and newfound love. Their hearts entwined in battle, they stood hand in hand, ready to face any challenge that came their way. The darkness may have threatened their world, but it had inadvertently brought them together, creating a beacon of hope amidst the chaos. And so, Alex and Lucy continued their journey, fighting evil forces together, their love for each other shining as brightly as the flames that once burned within Alex alone. In a world where superheroes and romance intertwined, Alex, a fire-powered hero, met Lucy, a brilliant scientist with telekinetic abilities. They were drawn to each other, their hearts beating as one in the face of darkness. As they battled the evil forces threatening their city, their love only grew stronger. Their connection became a beacon of hope, guiding them through the chaos and fear that surrounded them. Together, hand in hand, Alex and Lucy stood ready to face any challenge that lay ahead. And so, in the midst of darkness, two hearts entwined, finding solace and strength in each other's love.

Written in the Stars.
(Here I go trying to post my writing again. I revised this piece I wrote a few years ago.)
He was out later than he planned. Most don’t spend hours at a bookstore. He wore a black tee shirt and blue jeans, with a checkered flannel hanging loosely open as he walk. The cafe he settled in had since closed and chased the only two patrons out of the area.
He had made small glances at this girl who looks to be his age for the past hour or so. She’s roughly five-foot-one with dark hair that drops to her shoulders. She had these deep, mysterious eyes that kept his attention locker. She’s dressed in a black long sleeve that’s exposing her shoulder somewhat. It’s covered by a dark thin jacket. Her jeans tight in the right places.
“You know, you could say hello.”
He snapped out of his thoughts as he walked and noticed that she’s beside him now as they both reach the door. His face flushed a faint pink as he opened the door for her. “After you.” She grind as she walked past him and then stopped abruptly as he followed “Hello.” She greeted.
“Hello.” He plainly spoke and she giggled.
“Gee, how long is it going to take you to ask me name then?” She teased.
His mind whirled as this beautiful girl spoke to him. Not once in his life had he been confident enough to approach someone like this. It never happens. The most might be admiration from afar toward the occasional girl and wondering about saying something, anything. This was surprising. “I’m Lee. What’s your name?”
“Randi.” She briefly stated. Then started to walk with her hands in the pockets of her jacket, gesturing for him to follow. They’re certainly heading away from the parking lot. He decide following a pretty girl might be worth some risk.
“Did you buy a book or anything?” He asked to fill the silence. He noticed she wasn’t carrying anything. She shrugged as they walked beside each other. “I couldn’t find a story I liked, so I chose to make one instead.”
If possible his face turned another shade of pink. She sounded so bold and sure of herself. He clearly was not. “What do you mean?”
She pursed her lips and reached for his hand to lead them into an abrupt left turn. He looked ahead and saw a pier within view. The lighthouse at the end shining brightly. She lead him with purpose as they walk in silence to the edge. The waves crashing gently.
She lets go of his hand and looks up to him. She was much closer than he would have expected. “What’s your sign?”
He paused for a moment, curious on what she’s thinking. “I’m a Virgo.”
She nodded briefly and looked up to the stars as if she knew what they said up in the dark night. “I’m a Pisces. Which, is your perfect match. At least I’d say so. I’ve always felt something toward Virgo men.”
She looked at him again and then to the lighthouse as she took his hand and led them against the lighthouse wall that over looked the body of water. “I was born on February, the 19th.” She mused and gazed at the waves. Even though she was beside him, he could tell her mind was up in the states.
“September 3rd for me.” He shared and that got her attention again.
“So, tell me more. Where you were born. What year. What time.” She encouraged. He found himself willing to share anything with her in this moment. As if she erased his boundaries. He shared his story with her about his life and she seemed like she was lost in thought. Almost as if she’s a computer processing.
“It’s funny, how you randomly find someone there’s this connect you can’t describe. But you feel it so strongly. Maybe the stars aligned for us.”
He found himself lost in thought not as he looked to the softly crashing waves. He didn’t expect to be sitting beside a stranger. Most nights he would be at home and spending him time by himself. Going to sleep early. And now he let this girl lead him over to a spot he had been a million times before. Yet it felt so different. Then she spoke once again.
“I’d argue you’re one to be hard on yourself. That you need to be more confident. You seem so smart. Just reserved. And you need to not be so down about what you haven’t accomplished. You have so much time.”
It was as if she read his mind. Read him like a book. It was uncanny how she pulled those thoughts right from inside him.
“I know I’m right. You’re good looking, you just have to believe it for yourself.” She added with a smile as she looked to him.
“I’m sure I can work on that.” He spoke softly. He didn’t expect these words from this strange girl.
“Oh boy. There you go thinking.” She teased and playfully pushed against him as she laughed. “Loosen up. You’re out with a pretty girl and looking at the stars and waves. This must be the best night of your life.”
He rolled his eyes and felt his body soften. His jaw loosen. For a moment he felt relaxed. Even if he still felt flustered. In this moment he felt brave and then put his arm around her. To which she moved into his body and rested her head on his should as she looked up at him. Like she had looked up at the stars.
Maybe the stars had aligned tonight.

Salutations! Much love and appreciation to the talented writers here that share the same loved for a beloved 80s classic like TLB as I do! If obliged I would like to request a Poly!TLB based prompt where they become drawn to a fem! dhampir reader sheltered under the protection of her vampire father. What they don't know is that her father and the boys' sire Max carry heavy history as rivals.
O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? || Poly!Lostboys
[Poly!Lostboys x Fem!Dhampire!Reader]
Summary: The boys fall for a girl they see on the board but no matter how many times they attempt to talk to her, she disappears
Warnings: vampirism, the boys are kind of stalkerish, cursing
Masterlist
A/N: for some reason I completely forgot what dhampires were for a hot sec. I gave her the ability to turn into fog for fun. Hope this is okay (I don’t think this is what you had in mind sorry) and sorry for the long wait ♡♡
You enjoyed venturing the boardwalk in the moonlight. You come to the attraction most nights, when you are able to sneak out the house, and enjoy the rides and food. Your father only allowed you to leave the house once a month but you found an escape through your bathroom window.
The boys spotted you the first night you explored the beachside. You looked like a tourist the way you admired the neon lights and the way you smiled at the rides. Your beauty was unlike anything they had ever seen before. They had to speak to you.
You were sat on a bench enjoying some dessert as they admired you from afar. “I have to go talk to her,” Paul announces as he stands up dramatically.
“Wait I’m coming too!” Marko quickly replicates the taller boys actions and they both begin to stalk towards you through the crowds. The only problem was one minute you were there, the next you were gone. The only thing around was fog.
“Shit,” Paul curses, “where the hell did she go, man!”
“I don’t know,” Marko shrugs and turns around to question his brothers but they seemed just as confused.
The next time the quartet saw you, David and Dwayne tried to approach you but the same thing happened. This only intrigued the boys more.
A couple days later, you were back on the boardwalk. You were aware of the four vampires watching your every step since day one but it didn’t bother you. You knew who they were and you knew that their leader was Max so you stayed away. You were convinced they were spying on you on behalf of the older vampire.
Yet again, you saw the two youngest blondes strut towards you and you planned to pull your usual antic of transforming into fog but you felt a strong hand grip you wrist.
“Didn’t know there was other vampires in town,” David smiled down at you. You pull away from him.
“Your fog trick is so cool!” Paul compliments as he approaches you.
“Thanks? And I’m technically a dhampire..” you mutter. Communication is a hard skill to learn after being locked in a house with no one to talk to but your father. “Now I need to go.”
“Why in such a rush?” Marko tilts his head, “why do you also disappear when we approach you?”
This confused you more. They didn’t know who you were.
“Sorry for my brothers’ rudeness,” Dwayne gave a posted look to the others, “Maybe we should introduce ourselves. I’m Dwayne.”
You already knew their names but you nodded along with their introductions anyways. “Nice to meet you all. I’m Y/N.”
“Beautiful name for a beautiful face,” David smirks. Heat rises into your cheeks. The only flirting you have ever witnessed was on the television.
“How come we don’t see you around that often?” Dwayne asks.
“Oh I’ve only started leaving my house recently,” you said like it wad normal thing, for all you knew it might be for vampires.
“You’ve been stuck in your house all these years?” Marko furrows his eyebrows.
“Yup,” you nod, the boys looked at you in shock.
“Then let’s make up for them years by having fun every time we see you, ay?” Paul flashes a big goofy grin making you giggle and nod.
And the five of you did just that. During the next month, you went on all the rides multiple times, ate as much food as you could, hung out in the cave, gave you your first alcoholic drink, went late night swimming, scared tourists and so much more. You had strong, indescribable feelings for the four vampires and you were miserable on the nights where you couldn’t climb out the window. You still haven’t told them about the ancient feud between Max and your father.
“Hey! How bout we get rent a movie from Max’s store?” Marko suggests with a proud begin plastered into his face.
“How about the beach again?” You quickly suggest, you knew Max would recognise your sent. Marko tried to hide the fact he was disappointed at the speed you shot down his suggestion. The boys nodded anyway at the beach and you all trekked down, your arm interlocked with David’s.
You were all ready to sit down on the branch on the floor when you heard your name being called, turning around you saw you father. “Y/N? What in God’s name are you doing here?”
Marko, Paul, Dwayne and David all looked at you in confusion. “Dad I-” you tried to come up with an excuse but you father saw your company.
“We are going. It’s bad enough you leave without informing me but loitering about with Max’s gang is unexplainable,” you saw the anger in the man’s eyes.
You shot an apologetic look at the stunned group before leaving with the elder vampire. You were sent to your room as soon as you stepped through the threshold of the house and you father forbade you from leaving the house for another two months as punishment. You loved your father and you understood that all this was to keep you safe (the more skills and abilities you learn, the more time you’re allowed out the house) but he always took things to extreme level.
Moping in your room over the thought you’ll never see the men you desired, you hear something hit the window. You ignore it thinking it’s just a branch but when it happens ago you turn to watch a tiny pebble hit the window. You rush over to open it and look down seeing the vampires staring up at your window but with a gust of wind, they were behind you.
“What are you doing here?” You ask in a quietly.
“We wanted to see you,” Paul explains a little to loud making me shush him.
“We followed you back here to let you know we enjoyed hanging out with you and we are not prepared to let this stop,” Dwayne whispers, “even now we learnt about our sire’s rival.”
You envelope them all into a group hug, “I would love to hang out as soon as my father’s rules calm down but in the meanwhile don’t forget about me.”
“Oh sweet Juliet,” David smirks, “we could never.”

Henry Cavill x Reader / Lessons / SMUT
A/N: Henry has to learn how to play golf for a film but his teacher may teach him a bit more than golf. In which Henry is a clumsy cinnamon roll. Inuendos intended, sorry not sorry. SMUT: oral sex (female receiving), vaginal sex, teasing, cursing, cumshot. Read at your own risk.
For the sake of a film in which he would play an aristocrat, Henry had to know how to play golf. He had agreed to it though he never had one single piece of knowledge on the matter.
Him who had done life-endangering stunts was not going to abandon for golf. He had three weeks before the beginning of the set and had decided to spend his holidays at a golf resort off in Scotland where he was determined to master the skills to that sport.
Y/N had been working at the Baurheid Club for the past five summers. The rest of the year, she lived in Glasgow but since her uncle was the club's manager and since she knew all about golf, she kept on working there.
The season was about to start and she was in charge of giving private classes for top-notch clients. Her rock solid privacy was celebrated by all and she was the perfect fit to deal with bankers and members of the idle class. An actor was about to complete the list.
"Y/N, here's the list of your clients for the next week"
Three names as each client required all attention. Quality over quantity was the motto of the club on that regard. The second one rang a bell to Y/N: Henry Cavill.
"Why does that name sound familiar? We've already have him, perhaps?" Y/N asked to Olivia who was welcoming the clients in the resort and who happened to be a close friend to Y/N.
"He's an actor, you fool" she replied in a moment of rest from the wave of clients "A handsome one too, lucky you!"
Instead of rejoicing along with Olivia, Y/N just hoped he was not the megalomaniac kind and that he wouldn't be a nightmare to work with. She went on with her day, many things had to be fixed before her first classes the next day.
Henry arrived by the entrance desk where Olivia acknowledged him and welcomed her just like any other client, in spite of her shouting internally. He had packed the bare minimum so his installment was brief.
The next day, it was almost noon when he woke up so he took himself out to the cafeteria.
Y/N had finished her first class of the day with a young member of the Dutch royal family and was gaining back the main accomodatio, up to the staff's lunch room. She had not changed clothes as she was not to meet any client.
Or so she thought.
"Oh, come on now!" Y/N heard someone grunting in her back as she was about to open the door to the place where she had left her food. She turned around only to see a frustrated Henry Cavill.
"May I help you, sir?" Y/N asked.
"Yes, please!" Henry jumped on the occasion "I'm looking for the lunch room but I always end up in this corridor... It's a bloody labyrinth there", he added holding back a nervous laugh.
Henry came back from his frustration as his misery was coming to an end with Y/N's arrival and that's on his way back that he noticed just how splendid Y/N was.
"Please, let me be your guide"
"Thank you very much. By the way, I'm Henry"
"And I'm Y/N", she responded making the connection with the photograph of Henry Olivia had shown her on her phone.
Along their journey to the lunch room, the two of them made some small talk while Y/N had to keep her composure. Olivia was right, he was bloody handsome. Even more so that on any photograph. And besides, he was visibly not a douche but an angel, making her feel at ease early on in their conversation.
As they arrived by the cafeteria filled with expensive furniture, the actor accompanied his "thank yous" with an offer: "I'm all alone at the resort, I could use some company for the lunch"
It was tempting if it wasn't for the fact that Y/N and the whole staff wasn't allowed to eat with the clients.
"Oh I see..." Henry said as Y/N explained the situation "But what if it's the client's decision. Isn't the customer always right?" he completed, glad he had found this trick to make her stay.
"Well, I suppose that it's the rule, yeah..." Y/N had been upset to decline the offer but she figured that indeed, she could stay a little while. Besides, the cafeteria was big enough for her not to be seen by anyone.
"It's a yes, then?"
"Yes, it is"
"So, what do you do here anyway?" Henry asked her as he came back from the buffet.
"I'm a golf instructor"
"Well, in that case, I'll probably see you on the green"
"About that, I should probably tell you that I'm the one who's gonna take care of your lessons for as long as you stay"
"I cannot wait. Though I should apologise in advance"
Y/N quizzed him by fixing his eyes. Shit, those eyes... Don't stare, don't stare, Y/N thought.
"I'm probably the worst golf player in Britain"
***
"You want to hold it like that" Y/N informed the way to seize the putter as she placed herself behind the impressive stature she had in front of her.
She could not believe that she was giving in the cliché of being glued to get someone to play golf.
Henry had not exaggerated, he indeed was pretty bad. In fact, he lacked of coordination and Y/N had to constantly remind him of how he was supposed to swing his body.
"May I?"
"Yes!" Henry was relieved to hear that he would get more help from her as she suggested than she could grab his arms to show the move.
She took his arms by the elbows. Henry being in a polo, she could feel all of his muscles under her touch.
"There, that's right! You've got the move. Now try to hit the ball"
And Henry executed himself but failed to even graze it. He snickered and then gave in a frank laughter that Y/N echoed.
"Right, you're gonna need to spend more time with me, Mr. Cavill"
"It's all I'm dreaming of. Dinner with me tonight in the garden?"
The class ended and for Y/N, it meant the beginning of her third and last class of the day.
As it was only 4 pm, Henry joined the games room where he had a view on the green where Y/N was helping an old lady to practice.
Of course, Y/N was too busy to notice him but it didn't stop him to smile like a child at her.
He was admiring her grace and her air of benevolence when a man came to him "She's a beauty, isn't she?"
Henry nodded at the stranger who in turns carried on "It must run in the family"
As Henry took his eyes oof of Y/N to see whom he was talking to, the stranger introduced himself "I'm Max, the club's manager. Y/N's uncle"
"Oh! How do you do? I'm Henry"
Max nodded, knowing very well who his select guest was.
"Is she a great teacher to you?"
"For sure. It's just that I'm a terrible pupil"
Max laughed along with Henry "Ah, son, she'll make a great player out of you"
The dinner happened. Henry had changed into another polo paired with camel chinos.
Y/N too had changed into a strapless floral dress with brown sandals. She greeted Henry as she sat down in the grass on which Henry had displayed a basket of fruits.
They started drinking and talking as the moon rose in the sky.
"I've talked with your uncle this afternoon"
"Oh have you? He's quite something, isn't he?"
"That he is. According to him, you're the greatest teacher out there"
"And you doubt it?"
"I'll try to be as good as a lamb for you"
After dinner, Y/N suggested that they take a walk around the resort. Any way to make the night last longer was worth seizing.
Everything was calm. No one around. Under their feet, the grass was slightly wet as dew had started forming and tinting their shoes.
Y/N took off her shoes, soon followed by Henry who had not done something as spontaneous as throwing a picnic in a very long time.
With their shoes in their hands, they carried on walking on the grass as crickets were going for a symphony and more and more windows got dark afar.
"It's been ages since I hadn't spent a lovely night like that" Henry sighed with pleasure "but that being said, I should hit my bed if I want to be at the top of my performance for my strict instructor"
The two of them had gotten very close to one another "If I stay now, I'm staying the whole night" Henry commented as Y/N's lips were dangerously close to his.
"I would let you" Y/N replied.
***
Henry and Y/N had met regularly apart from the times set for the classes over the last two weeks and if Henry had barely gotten better, the two of them had grown fond of the other. They had kissed on the fourth night, but both of them were not craving for more. Henry did not wish to rush things, nor did Y/N though the tension became unbearable.
"Do you think your uncle would kick you out if you spent the night at my room tonight?" Henry ventured as the class was over, wishing that he could kiss her right there, on the green.
"I wouldn't mind being kicked out if it meant spending the night with you" Y/N answered as she put back the clubs in the trolley.
After they finished eating at their favourite spot, Henry seized Y/N's hand and together they traveld to his room.
As Henry opened the door, he preceded Y/N,cupping her face with his hands to make her follow him in the suite.
He shut the door behind her and took her in his arms, only letting go on her after having carefully laid her on the bed.
"It is my turn to teach you a lesson, baby", he purred in her ear as he had let his lips wander from her legs to her face.
He placed his body over Y/N's but suddenly he got repentant and cursed "Fuck, I came here with nothing..."
Of course, Henry had no plans of making love to his instructor when he had booked holidays at the resort and found himself caught off guard, without protection for the night.
"In my purse" Y/N told him where to look.
"You might just be the most prepared teacher ever"
"Just grab it" Y/N begged him as he was going for encores, giving another sequel of kisses to her skin.
Henry ripped the scabbard and took his apparel out of his trousers, dressing it for the occasion.
Gracious God! There was lot to look at...
Fully erect, Henry came back in bed where Y/N was trying her best not to stare at the length.
"You sure about this?" Henry inquired as he aligned himself.
"Never been more sure in my whole life"
Henry then slid his member, inch by inch to be sure that Y/N was coping with what she was given.
He was just half through when it began to hurt.
"It's alright, doll!" Henry consoled her "I'm sorry, I'll go slow, I promise"
Henry found his way out as he had an idea to ease the process. Y/N still under him, he got down on her and made a feast of the flesh flashing before his eyes.
There was no doubt: he was much better at this than with golf.
As Y/N looked down at the face that had found shelter between her legs, she noticed just how dedicate he was. He was giving it all the attention required.
His eyes were glistening by the feeble light above their head.
Henry's cock was beating a rhythm of its own, pleased at it was that Henry was able to make Y/N moan with just his tongue and fingers.
The resort was known for "its quiet nights" and "tranquil setting" but tonight, Henry was eager to go off the rails.
It did have the expected effect on Y/N since her lair had gotten damp. Henry let her come back from the mountain she had climbed before he dived inside.
This time around, the whole length got in no sooner said than done.
"You're just so gorgeous!" Henry articulated with difficulty as he was carrying his moves, putting more energy by every second that went by.
Y/N's fingers borrowed the path drawn by his torso which was dripping with sweat "You're one very good student. And a very hot one too"
Henry's heart was pounding in his chest as he lifted Y/N's legs to put them by each side of his spine. That way, he reached a new spot with the tip of his penis which made Y/N pant with his name on her lips.
"Henry!" she cried her lungs out through the dark of the night. The tranquil nights long gone.
"Come for me, doll!"
She didn't have to hear twice as she was unleashing her falls.
But Henry was insatiable. Though teased twice by the sight of Y/N coming for him, his cock was still showing no sign of weakness.
He was willing to let go of her lover to give her some rest while he would take care of himself but Y/N stopped him as he was about to take off the condom.
"I wouldn't mind a third lesson" she told him "Let's change the angle. Show me how your swing's going. As for your stamina, Mr. Cavill, it got much better"
Y/N got on all fours, spreading her legs for Henry to come up behind her. As he entered the well, Y/N stretched herself so that she in turn allowed more of Hnery to get in and out.
Henry was admiring the view as he held Y/N by her hips, pounding her.
In and out, fast at first, the sounds of his cock hitting the bottom of her cunt.
Then Henry who got tired of the the action - and who was not going to hold it back for very much longer as Y/N's moans were rushing his climax - got slow, savouring every second he had ahead of him before he would come too.
Sensing that Y/N was close to get her third orgasm as she got tight around his cock, he decided for her to come to do so as well, and hoped that it would arrive soon.
She did come, shouting and laughing as she came back.
"I don't want you to come in that. I want to see you coming for me, Henry"
Henry then quickly removed the piece of latex which was soiled with pre-cum. The sole fact of taking it off almost made him come.
Henry kneeled on the bed by the level of Y/N who was laying down and emptied himself on her stomach.
"I cannot wait for our next class" Henry said in a sigh as he rested his limbs by Y/N.

doctor, doctor - jay halstead
jay halstead x fem!reader
summary: in which y/n takes it into her own hands to look after a sick jay
a/n: i’m not gonna lie i think this is one of my fav things i’ve ever written, i would really appreciate some feedback and p.s the beginning of it is based on that scene from brooklyn 99 :)
masterlist
“okay, it’s 10 o’clock, meaning halstead is officially an hour late to work,” y/n announced as she appeared from the break room with a mug of poorly made coffee. looking around, she had immediately distracted everyone in the room with her playful smile. “okay let’s do this, theories!” she encouraged, taking a sip with excitement, but immediately regretting it as s he spat it back in the mug and abandoned it on adam’s desk as she leant against it.
“uh, he forgot to set his alarm?” antonio suggested, willing to play along with the little game that y/n had created. however clearly his answer didn’t suffice as y/n scrunched up her nose and shook her head in disappointment.
“you are a detective in a unit that just last week rescued 5 people kidnapped and used as chess pieces in a human sized version of the game and the best you could come up with is he forgot to set his alarm? pfft, disappointing, dawson. who’s willing to take this seriously?” she scoffed, brushing his idea off with a simple roll of the eyes as the group laughed at her ridiculousness.
“maybe he has been murdered by a gang looking for revenge.” adam piped up, earning a sudden and rather forceful slap on the back as y/n cheered. her eyes looking over at antonio as she gestured towards the less experienced detective.
“yes, that’s what i’m talking about. bit dark, ruzek, but better than dawson’s,” y/n hummed, adam clearly pleased with the praise he had received by the pretty detective. “any one else wanna shot?” she offered it out into the room, suddenly the sound of rolling wheels on the chair had everyone turn to face al who was munching on a ham sandwich.
“he walked into the middle of a drug ring, slept with the kingpins daughter and is now having limbs removed, one by the hour.” suddenly an eery silence fell in the bullpen as al suddenly disappeared back to his desk and everyone was left with an image that she was sure was burned on the inside of everyones mind.
“uh, okay, someone might want to arrange a psych check for olinsky asap,” y/n mumbled, pointing in the direction where he had once been and looking around as if checking that she hadn’t been the only one to hear al’s suggestion. “anyways, all of you are wrong. clearly he has joined a motorbike gang and now makes his money on the road striking off names on the government’s hit list.”
just as the room erupted into discussion about how idiotic this conversation was, as well as their ideas, the sound of footsteps caught y/n’s attention as she arrived at her desk. however as he reached the floor, the reason for his absence was clear.
“woah, you look like death.” adam chuckled, it immediately being silenced as jay sent a deadly glare his way. with his skin paler than normal with undertones of green, a layer of sweat draped over his forehead. jay flashed as smile at y/n as he passed, reaching his desk and collapsing on his chair with a wince.
as everyone went back to what they were doing, y/n found herself straying her eyes away from her computer screen for longer and longer periods of time until she found herself by his side with a sickly sweet grin, pun intended.
“i don’t wanna hear it, y/l/n.” jay mumbled, massaging his temples with his fingers hoping it would somehow sooth his pounding skull. whilst usually he had every minute of his day just to hear the woman chat away about whatever crossed her mind, he had found himself in quite the state since last night, leaving him restless and irritable.
“believe it or not, i just wanted to make sure you were alright,” y/n’s entire demeanour crumbled as she melted at the soft features of his face that came with being so vulnerable. but from the look in jay’s eyes, it was clear he didn’t 100% believe her excuse. “and to ask what the hell you think you are doing here? you are sick jay, you need to rest.”
it was very rare that jay found himself ill. in the years that y/n had been working by the man’s side, she could count on one hand the times she had seen him with so much as a cough. in fact she had called him captain immune system for a period of time when she realised he was pretty much indestructible. y/n couldn’t deny the concern bubbling in her gut seeing him so weak.
“i’m fine,” with her eyes slitted in a look that practically shouted ‘bullshit’, jay continued. “i promise, it’s just a little cold. nothing serious, i think i’ll survive.” he joked dryly, finding it incredibly hard to look away from y/n for her eyes were filled with a warmth that he knew was an expression usually saved for those she cared deeply about.
“yeah well, you need to take care of yourself, jay, i’m being serious. chicago can cope if you just have one day off, get your energy back.”
y/n was reminded of the times she had the exact same words spoken to her by the exact person that didn’t seem to want to take them onboard. every time she had so much as a sniffle he would be straight over with some soup that his mother used to swear by and the name of a box set that he would put on for the two of them to watch as he sat stroking her hair in order to try and convince her body to rest. neither of them had anyone else to take care of them, so had taken it upon themselves to be that person for the other.
“now, i’m gonna go tell voight that i’m taking you home before you infect this whole office.” before he could object, she had already ran (not literally but jay was impressed by her speed walking) to her boss’ office. knocking on the door, with a sweet smile and a sea of words running off her tongue so quickly that voight had to agree just to shut her up, y/n returned by his side. “come on, germ face, your carriage awaits.”
“you know i love it when you talk dirty to me, y/l/n.” winking at her, y/n giggled as she supported him back down the stairs and out of the station. the two chatted away, y/n explaining how she thought al was secretly a sociopath and jay filing her in on the newest instalment of his apartment block drama until they pulled up in front of jay’s apartment building.
as they walked through the door, jay’s arm resting around y/n’s shoulders as he struggled to find strength, they managed to reach the sofa before y/n’s body gave up. both of them letting out large breathes before looking at each other and falling into laughter.
“you hungry, i could try making your mom’s soup?” y/n asked, as she pushed herself up to look down at the man. her hair falling down around her face and tickling jay’s skin. “i’m sure it won’t be as good as her’s but i’m willing to give it a try.”
the way she was sat with the large window gleaming light behind her, y/n almost looked like an angel. her eyes and smile were wide, with her beauty wrapping its hands around jay’s neck squeezing until his head felt light and he nearly reached up to touch her porcelain skin. but jay had noticed the sensation way before he was blocked up with a cold.
“yeah, uh, that sounds nice.” jay agreed with a minimal amount of sass, but y/n didn’t seem to notice as she moved off the cushions and towards the kitchen. she had pretty much memorised the recipe when jay had finally given it to her on her birthday after offering to pay for it multiple times. whizzing around the kitchen, she was too busy to notice the tired eyes admiring her from afar.
jay wished his mom was alive to see the woman that she would have loved. all the times he had brought girls back to his family when he was younger didn’t add up to an ounce of the beauty and power that y/n held in her middle finger. the way she bit back at his wit, but also had the ability to spot when he was upset from the other side of the city. she was everything her mother wanted in a daughter in law, everything she wanted for her little boy.
“okay, give me your honest opinion. i can take it i promise.” y/n sudden appeared with a tray that held a large bowl of the semi-thick orange liquid, a glass of water and a couple pills. approaching jay, she carefully helped him up from where he laid and placed it onto his lap. “actually that was a complete lie, do not tell me the truth. i may just cry.”
“why thank you, nurse y/l/n.” he teased.
“it’s doctor actually.” she quipped back.
jay chuckled lowly, as he grabbed the spoon and took a large spoonful to his mouth. feeling the slight sting of his tongue at the heat, it was only when the flavours hit that he was suddenly transported to an earlier time in his life. a simpler time. only this time there was y/n by his side.
“the verdict?” she prompted, taking a seat besides him, pulling her knees up to her chest.
“not sure whether i want to tell you, don’t think you’ll fit in this room if your ego grows any bigger.” y/n grinned as she leaned over to press a kiss against his shoulder. jay closed his eyes at the contact, feeling the ache in his body freeze for a moment as it registered the tingling sensation. “all jokes aside, it really is good.”
“i’m glad, your mother was a smart woman.” she nodded, leaning forward to turn tv on. jay continued to spoon the soup into his mouth, as y/n chose a show that they both had started together and had refused to watch another minute without the other. y/n leaned back making herself comfortable, having already texted voight telling him that she would most likely need the entire day off, and getting the go ahead, she had no plans other than being by jay’s side for the next however many hours.
it was sometime in the early evening and the tv continued to emit light, but neither jay nor y/n was paying any attention to the drama. jay, with his head on y/n lap, was leaning into her touch as her short, thin fingers ran through the dark strands that sprouted from his scalp. his body wrapped in a blanket that y/n had grabbed from his room, he felt completely at peace.
“you know what, i think you are more bearable when you are at death’s door.” y/n joked quietly, as the forest green eyes were exposed back to her own. jay groaned in annoyance, realising that there was no sweet y/n without the sharped tongue y/n. a trait he adored, but at his own expense.
“and to think i was starting to think you had gone soft on me, y/l/n.” he hummed, wishing he could forever have her giggle on repeat wherever he went, for the sound made goosebumps run down his neck and down his arms, like some kind of magic that only y/n possessed.
“as much as i love you, i can’t risk my bad ass reputation for you.”
although jay was sure it was just part of her banter, the moment the ‘i love you’ fell off her tongue, he found himself wide awake, unable to push past the feeling in his gut as it looped over again and again in his mind. y/n could see the conflict in his face, as he glanced up at her with something she had never noticed before.
“you mean it?” he asked.
“mean what?” confused, her fingers fell from his hair, making jay regret ever opening his mouth.
“do you really, you know, love me?” he knew he had committed too far to try and retreat. maybe he could blame it on the fact he couldn’t think straight, although she was like a lie detector that wouldn’t let such a bogus excuse pass. y/n blinked down at him, watching as he sat up to look at her with a hunger that needed to be addressed. swallowing the lump in her throat, y/n nodded.
“of course, you are one of my best friends, jay.” it was true, but it wasn’t the full truth, both of them knew that.
“i didn’t realise we had started lying to one another,” jay’s eyes were soft, as he reached to place his hand against her cheek, smiling as she slowly leaned into it. closing her eyes, she tried to find what direction she was looking for, but didn’t dare take the first step. without even thinking, jay jutted forward and captured her lips before they could form a single syllable.
gently, but passionately, jay and y/n moved their lips against the others. the feeling was ever-growing as the kiss deepened and deepened until they had no choice to pull back, deprived of their ability to breath. as jay’s eyes came back into view, y/n, for the first time in her life, had lost the ability to form a sentence.
“we just...” she began but it ran off quickly. jay chuckled.
“we did.”
the two sat in silence, examining the other one’s face until y/n found herself moving forward until she was sat in his lap, legs wrapped around his waist as she pressed her lips against his. just like before their bodies and minds were set ablaze with desire and what had remained unspoken for what felt like forever. jay had nearly completely forgotten about the illness that had put him in the care of the woman that he craved more than anything else the world had to offer.
as their lips parted ways, suddenly the air had thinned and everything felt... normal. jay’s lips were unable to break out of the large grin mould that y/n had put them in, which was soon mirrored by the young woman. a small giggle escaping her lips.
“if i get whatever it is you have, i expect the exact same treatment.”
“only for you, doctor y/l/n.”

close to you | jaehyun (teaser)
[RELEASE DATE]: Mid-May 2021
SUMMARY. You and Jaehyun have been dancing around each other for years, never finding the courage to speak up on your feelings. But here’s the problem: you and Jaehyun aren’t friends nor acquaintances, you’re two complete strangers who share nothing but several undergraduate classes and a strong, drawn connection.
— you’re both strangers until you’re not.
GENRE. fluff | angst | orange!au | strangers to lovers!au | college!au | lots of… pining
WORD COUNT. roughly 15k
warnings. mentions of death, blood, and lots of swearing
“Thanks for the coffee.”
You and Jaehyun have been productive all afternoon, creating a plan along with its respective deadlines to follow. Never would you have imagined closing the distance between you and Jaehyun. Whenever you would try to reach out to him, he would be twenty steps away. But standing next to each other like this, arms gently brushing against each other, unspoken thoughts, you’ll be more than satisfied. You just hope that your unspoken thoughts are somehow heard by him.
“Do you always take this bus route home?” He questions out of nowhere.
You slowly nod your head in reply. “Always. Do you?”
He tilts his head in confusion. “That’s quite odd.”
“What’s odd?”
“I always take this bus route home too.” He begins to explain. “It’s odd that we’ve become friends now rather than years ago. It seems that there were many chances for our paths to cross.”
Jaehyun had a point. You always knew Jaehyun took this bus route going home. You would always sit in the back of the bus on days where afternoons weren’t busy and he would always stand near the front, helping the elderly get to their seat. As a spectator and observer, those were one of the many things you admired about Jaehyun. You and Jaehyun have shared many classes throughout your undergrad years, but you would always sit far from him, sitting behind him was ideal, because it gave you the chance to admire him from afar. There were many chances for your paths to cross, and you fear that you would let it drag on until you’re too late.
The bus arrives and surprisingly, it’s not full. There are many empty seats available. Tapping your card against the card reader, you head straight to the back of the bus, plopping your butt down on one of the empty seats. Jaehyun follows suit, taking the empty seat right next to yours. Your breath hitches in your throat and you distract yourself by looking outside the window. The bus begins to move on its route.
“What’s your favourite colour?” He asks out of nowhere.
You raise an eyebrow. “Blue.”
Suddenly, he pulls out a set of earphones and plugs it into his phone, handing you one of them. You look at him, doe-eyed and hesitant. He senses your hesitancy and places the earphone into your ear himself, flashing you a warm smile. “It’s a long ride.”
And indeed, it is a long ride. Fourteen stops in, Jaehyun finally hits the stop request button. He’s slinging his bag over his shoulder, slowly getting up from his seat and waving goodbye. “This is me.”
You nod. “I’ll see you when I see you.”
Just as he’s about to get off, he gives you one last glance and calls out your name. You tear your gaze away from the window to look at him. “Text me when you get home safely.”
You chuckle. “Yes, sir.”
“I’ll be waiting for your text,” he says. “See you, Y/N.”
Jaehyun hops off of the bus and stands in the waiting shed, watching the bus drive away. As the bus gets smaller and smaller, he blows a raspberry, crossing the road. When he’s finally on the opposite side of the road, he heads to the waiting shed for a bus that’ll take him back to where he came from.
No matter what, always take the bus home with Y/N.
No matter what.
You let out a tiring sigh, yawning right after. Stretching out your arms, you get up from your seat to get off at the next stop. Out the window, apartments and buildings slowly transform into parking lots and a hospital.
“Next stop, Seoul National Health Network.”
You request the bus to stop.
On the bus ride back to where he came from, Jaehyun takes the seat at the back of the bus. The bus is quite empty this afternoon, with a couple of elderly people sitting near the front and a couple of high school students occupying the seats in the middle. Jaehyun zips one of his backpack pockets open, pulling out an envelope. Written on the envelope is his name with the handwriting itself identical to his own. Opening the envelope, he pulls out a letter. It’s a tear-stained letter, with some of the ink smudging because of it. But it’s a letter written from him, his future self.
Dear Jaehyun,
Since this is the first time you’ll be taking the bus home with Y/N, I figured I would give you the reasons why in advance. You’re probably curious as to why you need to fulfill such an odd request. But it’s more than just a simple, odd request. I want you to remember a date.
May 26th, 2022.
On this day, no matter what, I want you to take the bus home with Y/N. Even better, I want you to get off at the same stop as her. On May 26th, 2022, Y/N got into a car accident. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to make it and passed away because her body succumbed to her fatal injuries. It might be difficult to even imagine a world without Y/N, but it happened.
As I write you this letter, I’ll be paying her a visit at the cemetery with Jungwoo. As I write you this letter, I’m doing this as a means to cope with it, where I would imagine a parallel world where we both exist and no one leaves the other behind. I imagine a parallel world where Y/N doesn’t pass away, where I am able to save her, where I am able to tell her how I feel.
As you can tell, I have many regrets. But I’ll get into those regrets later, not today.
No matter what, always take the bus home with Y/N.
No matter what.
author’s note. you’ve reached the end of the teaser! this is what i’ve been working on in between exams and so this is definitely going to be posted (i’m already at 8k words so it’s almost reaching its end.

series masterlist // part ii // part iii // part iv
Fred laid back on his bed, his hands clasped behind his head as he watched his girlfriend adjust her uniform in the mirror. Fred had known Y/N for years but she had become a Weasley family staple after she rescued a very stressed Ron in the library who was pouring over a potions essay that Hermoine had refused to help with. It wasn’t until they had convinced Y/N to spend the summer at the Burrow with them this past year that Fred had finally worked up the nerve to express his feelings for her, and now here she was flashing him that sunshine smile in his dorm room, his mirror, making her way over to kiss his lips.
“You’re staring Freddie.” She giggled, as she plopped down in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Can’t help it angel.” He replied, pressing a sweet kiss to her forehead. “You’re just too good to be all mine.”
“Well-” she started “I can assure you that I am, my love.” He chuckled as he placed another kiss to her lips. She closed her eyes, relishing in the feeling of his lips on hers for a little longer than she probably should have. In all honesty, Y/N had been crushing on Fred for years, long before he had even known who she was. She had simply intended on observing him from afar, sneaking in quiet chuckles at the jokes he and George cracked in class, stealing quick glances at him across the Great Hall as he teased his siblings. But when she developed quite the unlikely friendship with his younger brother and they had invited her to their family home, Fred started to see her in a different light. Y/N had been at the Burrow for over a month when Fred finally realized that maybe the reason he always wanted to be close to her and that he laughed the hardest at her jokes wasn’t just because he wanted to be her friend, he wanted to be her boyfriend, he was in love with her.
She was everything he had ever wanted, the perfect girl for him, but her being perfect made her quite the center of attention. Fred would never admit that he was jealous but the stares she attracted as the pair walked down the hallways always got to him. However, she never noticed the way other people looked at her, probably because she was too busy staring at him, too focused on the feeling of his hand in hers.
“Freddie.” She whined, wriggling in his grasp. “I’ve got to get to the library and you’ve got practice.” She giggled as he buried his face in her neck, inhaling her scent.
“The library isn’t going anywhere and they won’t mind if I’m late.” He mumbled which earned a playful scoff from her.
“I have a feeling that your lateness will not be excused.” She replied as he groaned into her skin.
“Fine.” He spoke before placing a playful smack to her butt, signalling for her to move off of him so he could reluctantly get ready for quidditch practice.
“Don’t worry Freddie, I'll find you once you're done.” She cooed, placing a kiss to his lips before making her way out of his room and down the hall, leaving him breathless, once again.
Fred quickly got dressed and started the trek towards the pitch, his head flooded with the thoughts of Y/N, a smile seemed permanently etched on his face. Until he overheard voices from around the corner; there stood two Ravenclaw boys leaning against the wall, and the topic of discussion happened to be his girlfriend. Fred gritted his teeth at the sound of her name coming from such mouths, his jaw becoming tight as he felt his hands ball themselves into fists.
“No, I’m telling you, she knows how to fill a uniform.” One of them groaned as the other laughed in agreement. The thought of someone staring at her, making such comments about his girlfriend made him angry, but the fact that they were looking at her like that, like she was nothing more than a body, infuriated him. She was so much more than that, sure she was gorgeous but she also helped his younger siblings with their homework when they couldn’t figure something out, she baked bread with his mother on Sunday mornings and always reassured him when he felt like the entire world was against him.
“You’re right.” The other remarked. “Don’t know what she sees in Weasley. Merlin, she could do so much better.” He added, running a hand through his hair. Fred couldn’t listen any longer, couldn’t handle the garbage he was hearing.
“And I assume you think you’re better eh?” Fred spoke as he sulked his way out of the shadows, causing the two boys to jump at the sound of his voice. “Quiet now, are we?” He chuckled.
“It’s only the truth Weasley, she’ll leave you at the sight of someone better.” The braver of the two spoke. “You’ll be tossed out soon enough.” Fred could feel the anger bubbling inside of him, but he knew that Y/N would despise the thought of him fighting, especially over her.
“We’ll see about that.” He breathed, feigning a lack of bother, the two boys stared at him, shocked at his response as he simply walked past them.
The week had melted itself into the weekend and the thought of his conversation in the hallway still plagued him, he knew Y/N wasn’t like that, she wouldn’t simply drop him if someone better came along. He knew that she loved him, knew that she barely even noticed those who were interested in her no matter how persistent their efforts in pursuing her were. But he needed something, something to prove that she was his, something that could show that she was proud to be his. After seething over this for the past week, thinking about constantly pulling his jumper over her head or maybe just never letting go of her hand in an attempt to keep greasy eyes off of her, it finally hit him and after a sneaky visit to a jewelry store he had a solution.
“Hey princess.” He spoke, excitement evident in his tone as he took his spot next to Y/N in front of the tree she was leaning against.
“Hi, my love.” She replied, abandoning the book she was reading to lay her head in his lap. He sighed with content, running his fingers through her hair as she gazed up at him, nothing but pure love gracing her features.
“I got you something.” Fred said softly as he ran a thumb across her cheek, she looked up at him, taking the hand that wasn’t occupied on her face into her own, interlacing their fingers.
“Freddie-” She started, but he stopped her, pressing a finger to her lips.
“No, no, no.” He protested. “I know you always say you don’t need gifts but this one means a lot to me.” She stared at him curiously as he continued to speak.
“I overheard these guys talking about you and I tried to not let it get to me but I- I couldn’t.” He spoke, her face softening. “I know you love me and I love you more than anything, I just wanted to get you something that could show everyone that, that could show you that.” He ran his fingers through his crimson hair and let out a shaky breath as she brought his hand to her mouth, gently kissing each knuckle. He was so nervous, he had planned exactly how to go about this in his head, but here in this situation, with her staring up at him with those eyes, all previous thoughts of smooth words and flirting were abandoned. He wanted nothing more than to spill his guts to her, tell her every single reason why he loved her, kiss every inch of her body.
“I always say I don’t get jealous when it comes to you, but I do, I hate it when other people look at you the same way I do.” Her lips quirked into a smile. “You’re the love of my life Y/N, there is absolutely no one out there better for me than you, I’m all in.”
“I couldn't agree more Freddie, all my bets are on you.” Y/N said, rising from her spot in his lap to straddle him. She placed her palms against either side of his face, resting her forehead against his closing her eyes and feeling the heat of his cheeks against her hands. Fred reached into his jacket pocket to reveal a small velvet box, Y/N’s eyes grew wide at the sight. He chuckled, sensing her surprise.
“It’s not an engagement ring angel.” He started, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “At least not yet.” He opened the box, where a simple silver necklace sat, four letters sat in the middle, his name in plain script. Y/N gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as Fred pulled the necklace out of the box and loosened the clasp.
“May I?” He asked, a grin etching itself on his face.
“Of course.” She whispered as he placed the chain around her neck.
“There.” He spoke, leaning back to admire her, she looked so pretty with his name lying against her skin. “What do you think?” He asked, his voice quiet as he searched her face for some sort of indication into how she felt about the gift. She stayed quiet for a moment, simply staring down at the necklace, she ran a finger across the letters as Fred bit his lip, nervous at her sudden silence.
“I love it Freddie.” She whispered, pulling his face to hers capturing his lips with her own before kissing his forehead, both his cheeks, his nose, his eyelids, his lips again and again. He broke into a full fledged laugh until he noticed the tears in Y/N’s eyes.
“Oh no princess, don’t cry.” He chuckled, wiping away stray tears.
“They’re happy tears Freddie.” She giggled. “Just love you so much.”
“I bet I love you more though.” He retorted, resting his hands on her waist as he buried his face in the crook of her neck. “I’ll have to buy you more gifts if you keep kissing me like that.”
Y/N sighed in response, her fingers twirled in the hair at the nape of his neck. They both knew that Fred could never buy her another gift for as long as they both lived and she would still love him as much as she did in this very moment. There was so much uncertainty in the future but right now, with his name around her neck and his arms wrapped so tightly around her waist she knew that no matter what happened in the next month, the next year and for the rest of her life, her love would be completely and utterly Fred Weasleys.

Captain Potter
Summary: Lily Evans has a secret that the army cannot know and it doesn't help that her captain is trying to be her friend.
Note: So I was watching Mulan and it's Shirtless JP May and this got me into googling shirtless army man, so please enjoy this piece of very much self-indulgence set in another AU. Also, I have no knowledge of military ranks, so bear with me.
Read on AO3 or below:
‘Evans’, the captain calls, and Lily turns to him, slightly afraid as she always feels when she hears her name. Maybe this is the day her secret will be found, this is the day she will be expelled and will fall in disgrace —
But Captain Potter has one of his carefree trademark grins, none at all looking as if he is about to arrest her. He looks at ease, leaning against one of the training posts, arms crossed lazily, watching her with interest shining in his hazel eyes as if she is a puzzle he will understand someday.
Lily truly wishes he won't, so she avoids looking at him directly in the eyes.
‘Captain’, she answers at least, saluting. That seems to amuse him.
‘I have a name, you know’.
‘Hum’, she stops, unsure. Her interactions with the captain have been restricted — well, her interactions with everyone have been limited —, but she has watched him from afar.
He is young and yet he never tries to act bossy with all the other soldiers, never tries to impose himself. He may have a more affinity with three of the soldiers (his friends for a long time, as she gathered), but he tries to treat everyone fairly, encouraging and teaching all soldiers equally, from the weakest of them to the strongest, and it’s not hard for her to see why everyone is willing to follow him into battle. The only one that he hadn’t been able to reach some sort of relationship was with her.
Something that had fit Lily’s plans and worries very well.
‘Captain Potter?’, she tries.
‘I am someone besides a rank’, he suggests.
‘Mr. Potter’.
‘That would be my father. I am James ’, he says at least, as if she is unfamiliar with the name of the youngest captain of the army.
‘I know , but — it would not be proper —’
‘Liam’, he stops her and, just as anytime someone uses that name, Lily wants to look around searching for that person until she remembers her situation. ‘Can I call you Liam?’
‘I’d rather Evans’, she answers, grimacing, and when he looks dismayed, she adds quickly: ‘It’s how everyone calls me. Not… it’s more personal, really’.
‘Fine, Evans’. He grins again. It’s a beautiful smile, so open and inviting, that again Lily has no difficulty understanding the success he makes with all the other soldiers, why their unity is unanimous in praising him. There is something on him that draws people to him — her included. ‘Well, call me James. I can order you to if it will make it more proper’.
Lily lets out a laugh before she stops herself, biting her lips, worried. She shouldn’t laugh; though she can disguise her voice mildly well, her laugh is too thin, too sparkling. It’s not a man’s grave laugh.
Fortunately, the captain doesn’t seem to find anything amiss. He looks just… glad with her reaction.
‘So you are capable of laughing’, he notes teasingly. ‘I had my doubts, you know’.
‘There has never been an occasion, Cap — James ’.
He opens his mouth in an offended expression; it’s so dramatic that, again, she wants to laugh. ‘I beg your pardon? Yesterday, when someone — a very clever someone, I might add — pretended to be shot by an arrow? That was an occasion!’
‘Wasn’t that you?’, she asks, raising her eyebrows. It had been a long tense one minute in which one of the other soldiers, Sirius, had been sure he had shot by mistake the captain and his best friend before James had revealed himself alive, laughing hysterically and showing the fake arrow attached to his badge.
Sirius had punched him, all rank forgotten, but then he was laughing too and everyone thought it was hilarious.
‘It was fun ’.
‘It was terrifying’.
‘Oh, so you were terrified I’d died?’, he jokes, his grin now very smug. ‘And I thought you didn’t like me’.
Lily blushes, lowering her head and hoping he hadn’t noticed it. Truth was she had misjudged him on the first day, annoyed by the way he acted with that captain badge pinned on his chest. He came from a long family of militars, after all, and he was very young, no matter what his father would praise about his grades in military school, so she had truly believed he didn’t deserve to be a captain, that he had only got there for his family name.
In the last few weeks, though, she was forced to admit he was a good captain. He had the vision for it, good ideas, an efficient way of training everyone and, of course, he was a leader.
‘I have nothing against you, sir — James’.
‘I’m glad to know’, he says, sounding earnest. ‘I am worried about you, you know’.
‘Have I done something wrong?’, she asks, surprised, fear involving her again. Lily had taken care of doing all exercises, overworking herself, all to prove that that stupid rule that forbid women in the army did not make any sense. They needed everyone in the fight against Voldemort, after all, and she would not wait patiently, especially when people like her were one of his targets.
‘No, no, you’ve been perfect, really, no one dedicates as much as you’, he assures her. ‘But you don’t socialize. You stay quiet during dinner. You don’t participate in any of the games', he pauses, before adding again dramatically: 'You don’t laugh at my pranks!’
All of it is true. Lily has purposefully gotten away from everyone, afraid they would notice something different about her, though that quiet soldier, Remus, had tried to talk to her. She just feels she can't risk.
‘I do not think it’s time for pranks, James’, she answers, deciding the last point was probably the easiest.
He shakes his head. ‘We are at war, Evans. If we don’t laugh now, we may not laugh after’.
She supposes he is right. And even though he enjoys more pranks than she thinks it’s reasonable, she knows he worries too. More than once, when she is on guard duty, she has noticed the light of his tent is on very late in the night. James may look carefree with everyone else, but he has concerns about the war — and what lies in his shoulder.
‘Your work has been impeccable’, he adds quietly. ‘I just want you to get to know more of your colleagues and for them to know more about you’. Lily presses her lips, hoping her worry doesn’t show on her face. That was all she was trying to avoid. ‘You will need to count on them in the battlefield and they will need to know you have their backs too. And the only way to do that is if we trust each other. Can we do that?’
James is waiting for her answer, his eyes boring into hers firmly, and Lily can’t turn away now. In the light of the morning, with the sun shining on his face, his hazel eyes seem to glint in gold, the pupil barely visible. He has wrinkles on the side of his eyes, and she suddenly wishes they weren’t meeting in the army while she is pretending to be an introverted thin young man.
He seems the kind of guy she would like to meet in college, or to grow up together with, or even in a dancing club with her friends; they would talk and she could be then fully herself, could share with him her witty side and even help him in a prank or two. In that other life she would appreciate how nice and beautiful he is, with that black hair that’s always messy no matter how much he tries to comb, and those hazel eyes that were made for laughing, not to be worried for the war.
But that’s not her life and she is sure that if he ever finds out about her, he will hate her. Somehow, with how much she has learned to admire him in the last weeks, she fears his rejection more than she fears being expelled from the army.
Lily knows she would trust James Potter with her life, knows she would do her duty and die for him if it was needed, and yet she also knows she can't ever tell him her secret.
So she does what she has been doing best ever since she joined the army.
‘We can trust each other’, she lies.
He beams. ‘Great, Evans! And I thought we could start sharing your mourning runs’. He raises one eyebrow when she looks surprised. ‘I’ve noticed you awake at dawn to run’.
‘I like to train’, she admits. ‘I am… thinner than the others, so I am trying to get fitter’.
‘You look a lot better’, he compliments, touching her arm, where her biceps have been evolving nicely. It’s a pat, a soft brush, and yet it sends shivers down Lily’s spine; his hand is warm . ‘Mind if I join you?’
She hesitates just a little. ‘I will stay quiet’, she warns him. ‘I like to think while I run’.
‘Works for me. And if you want to share a thought or another, well, I’m here, Evans’.
He winks at her, again so friendly that she turns her eyes away, wishing she could tell him the truth. But she can’t, so she presses her lips, ties the ribbon around her hair so the bun stays in place, and kneels to make sure her shoes are tied. Then she raises and her heart stops for a full second.
James has taken out his shirt. She knows he is fit — there is no way he can’t be with all the years of training he had — and she has seen before shirtless, but only when she was far away in the line, hoping to get unnoticed as she trained the movements.
Now, it’s only him, his tanned skin glistening under the morning sun, a god coming out of her dreams. She is staring and she knows it, but there is no way she can avoid it; weeks at the army have made her lost a lot of discomfourt around men's body, but this... This doesn't seem fair.
She watches the muscles in his arms, his biceps far more evident than hers will ever be, and it suddenly occurs to Lily that she would like very much to feel them around her, involving her, holding her. There would be only benefits in hugging him, she realizes, as her eyes move to his torso, enjoying the firmness of his chest and the muscles in his abdomen, a six pack that seems drawn perfectly. In his arms, she would glide her hand through his chest, would place a kiss over his heart and then she would raise her head and they would be so close —
And then James stretches his arms, raising them above his head, and she notices the hair on his torso, a few patches near his chest that shine with a few drops of sweat she wouldn’t mind drying, and then the darked patch over his abdomen, in a path that goes on vanishing inside…
When she finds herself staring at his pants, Lily decides she has crossed more limits that it's reasonable.
She turns, all her concentration in avoiding glancing at him again, though she feels it's fruitless. The sight of him seems to be recorded in her mind. He will appear on her dream, she is sure of it.
‘Everything all right, Evans?’, he asks, right behind her, and she jumps. 'You look red'.
Lily knows it; her face is hot, burning even before she has started to run, and she won’t fool herself pretending she doesn’t know the reason.
‘I'm fine, let’s go’, she answers quickly, heart racing in her chest. This was a horrible idea; mourning runs with her very gorgeous hot captain will do no good for her keeping her secret.
She sprints without warning, but he catches up with her easily. She keeps her eyes ahead. Don't look, don't stare, don't ogle.
‘There is something special about you, Evans’, he declares, the run not seeming to disturb his breathing. ‘I will find out one day’.

A Case of You -Alcina Dimitrescu x Maiden!Reader
I’ve been wanting to write something based on the song ‘A Case of You’ by Joni Mitchell. Alternatively the K.D. Lang version is also very good and meaningful to me. Also who better to write with than really tall vampire mommy 😭
As always feedback is appreciated highly! Thank you for reading 💙
Warnings: blood, and smut (18+) little babies
🩸🩸
You had been polishing the silverware reflecting on the years that you had been in Castle Dimitrescu. 3 short but eventful years. At the beginning it was hectic, bouncing between all of the orders from the daughters and those of the Lady herself. Cleaning up countless messes left around as if they were guests in their own home. Clothes here, blood stains there, broken plates and cups everywhere. It had been as if your birth in the village was a curse, born to feel ashamed of poor class. A majority of the women that lived in the village knew that the only fate of their futures was to be sent to work for Castle Dimitrescu until the end of their days. Once the fair young women reached 18 that was where they were sent. Of course not all of them were so “lucky”. The rest of the women and all of the men were left to the struggles of the small village left to the devices of the surrounding lycans of the other lords. Or worse, kidnapped never to be seen again.
Most of the villagers rumored that those that disappeared were taken by the holy Mother herself and experimented on. Everyone knew what she could do, but for all of the bad sometimes holy Mother Miranda brought some good. One time before sweet Imelda lost her leg to a lycan attack, she saw the fainted mark on the side of its face. The same mark her husband had upon his face on the same side, before his disappearance traveling back to town. As she was dragged back safely by a couple farmers who managed to kill the sickly beast, the only sounds that all of the inhabitants could hear were her screams of her husbands name. Utterly distraught that she could become so unrecognizable enough to his dead eyes that in his transformation could still cause her deadly harm. He never had an angry bone in his body, but if that rumor was true, the experiment had created a monster of a once calm man.
All of your years weren’t as hectic as the first year. Eventually the lady of the house had taken a liking to your work. Always quick to come and cater to any mundane request her and her daughters had demanded of you. Actually now that you think, you can’t remember the last time any of your orders came from the daughters. They only came from the head maid or Lady Dimitrescu herself. A small quirk of your lips found it’s way thinking of your Lady.
Shortly into your second year she began to request you privately into her bed chamber. The first time she asked for you, you had been scared that your end had found it’s way sooner than you would have liked. Your heart was racing in your chest, begging your feet to be just as erratic on the way to her room. Somehow you managed to compose your pace but your heart insisted on faltering you. You knocked three times on her door upon arrival. You were unsure if she had heard, the doors of the castle were solid wood and although your hands were not soft due to the amount of work you were asked to do, your knuckles certainly weren’t hard enough to evade a slight throb from the hefty door.
Her voice crooned from with in, “Come in, my dear.” You opened the door to her chambers carefully as to not slam the wood open and not damage whatever might be on the other side of its radius. She smiled down on you very sweetly. There was something in here eyes. It felt almost like an admiration. You wiped that thought from your mind as quickly as it came. Why on earth would she ever admire you.
She sauntered toward where you stood and slowly lifted her hand. The fear you harbored for the Lady caused you to flinch at her movement. She had never laid a hand upon your person but that did not mean your time would not come.
Your flinching halted her movements. Her expression changed but only slightly. “My dear, I am not going to harm you in such a way.” She had lowered her voice in the close proximity of your bodies. You opened your eyes once more to see her gently place her soft gloved hand upon your head. Gently she moved it down by your ear and caressed the side. “Come to me little one.”
You followed her to her vanity. The space was tidy with neatly placed powders and lipsticks and other make up you had never seen any of the women of the village actually own. She sat down on her chair in front of the vanity. All of the furniture you noticed was made to her size in this dim room. None of the maids were ever called to clean this space, it made you wonder if she even used it at all. Maybe the Lady chose to take care of her own space in a way she knew no one could ever recreate or perfect to her liking. She hummed and pulled your hand to her. In her glorious size, she picked you up and placed you on her lap facing the large mirror. Your eyes shifted between her and your own height. Even perched on her Lady’s lap, your height was still shorter than her own.
Her eyes never met yours even as she slightly moved about to gather a soft brush and place it closer within reach. Your heart was still bounding in your chest trying to make sense of what was perspiring at this moment. The Lady removed her gloves by pulling one finger at a time until they could slip off smoothly. She then reached up and began to undo the clean French braid your hair was done in. She was being so kind and so soft with you, you were baffled. She started to unwork the three strands until she reached your scalp. You moved in tandem with the Lady as she reached again to grab the brush and began at the bottom of where your hair reached. Her ministrations were so soft it allowed your heart to calm. You kept your hands in your own lap, not daring to speak before being spoken to or move before being asked to move. Your Lady focusing solely on brushing the tangles from your hair allowed your own eyes to look about the space you sat. Her only task to groom your tresses, allowed you to get a good look at her face. Her lips and cheeks looked so soft. Her face wasn’t stoic but content in the space. She certainly didn’t look as nervous to have you here as you did to be here. Occasionally her hand would come around the underside and her knuckles would gently brush against your clothes back.
Everything she did was so calm and planned and relaxing. You took the rest of the opportunity to admire her further. Her raven dark locks meticulously curled in their places. Her hat always cocked to the side on her head, you wondered if it ever got in the way. She certainly never let it bother her if it did. The sudden speaking of her voice caused you to jump due to how silent it was seconds before, “I had been admiring you from afar for a while now. I’m sure you have an idea of why you had been called to my chambers after not being asked to before.”
Your voice betrayed you, you had been silent for too long. “Y-yes my Lady. I think I know why I’m here.” She hummed again. You felt the brush finally make its way to your scalp. The bristles were so soft and comforting they made your eye lids heavy. Seeing that she was done with her work on your hair, she placed the brush back in its spot and made eye contact with you through the mirror. She looked at you for a couple minutes more until she spoke again. “You’re always so quiet and kind around everyone here. My daughters can have a way with making the maids end up with either tougher skin or breaking their calm façade.” She was now running her fingers down the length of your back over your uniform. “But not you. You are still the same as you were when you showed up. Quiet and composed.” You weren’t sure if you should thank her for the compliment or be offended by being told that you haven’t changed. You felt like you could handle anything after the tortures her daughters could put maids through.
You could feel her hands moving back up your back and over your shoulders. Her cold slender fingers found your collar while the other hand swayed your hair over your left shoulder no doubt to expose your neck to her. This is it. This is how you end. What a lovely way to die. Her faced inched closer to your exposed neck and you could feel her breath inches away from the space. Your eyes couldn’t seem to move away from her though. You watched the whole thing and how her face never changed emotion. Everything she had done with you was in admiration. Like she longed for what you could offer her as if she didn’t have everything she could want in this castle.
Her face inched closer until you felt her lips press against the spot she was just eyeing. She lightly kissed you and reveled in the sounds you let escape. A chill ran down your body and found purchase in your stomach. You could feel the butterflies going crazy. Yes truly what a lovely way to die. You braced yourself when you saw her go to bite. Braced yourself for the white hot pain to shoot across your whole body but it never came. Instead the only thing you felt was pleasure. She continued to suck in the same spot for moments more. It all made you feel a growing knot down lower. Her strong arms encircled around your waist to hold you tightly as if you could slip away at any moment. You felt them hugging you tightly. The embrace soothed every part of you. You had never felt so cared for.
Unconsciously you noticed that your hands found purchase upon her own. Her face lifted from the crook of your neck, not a smudge to be seen or hair out of place. You could feel her lips by your ear. “I could drink a case of you, and still I would be on my feet.” She whispered and it made you visibly shudder in need. What kind of affect was she having on you?
“You must never speak of this with anyone”
🩸🩸
She requested you many more times and each one was just as delicate and sweet as the last one.
“You’ve been polishing that spoon for an awfully long time, dear.”
Your head whipped around at the Lady’s sultry voice. Your Lady, you thought. “What is it that has your mind occupied?” She questioned.
“Nothing my Lady. I was simply thinking of you.”
She smiled a genuine smile at you and reached her hand toward you. You walked up to her and laced your fingers with hers. Every moment you spent with her you cherished since the first. She reserved so much kindness for you. Internally she ached for the next time she would request you again. Thinking of the way your blood tasted on her lips. So bitter and so sweet. She couldn’t help but want something slightly different this time.
You both made your way to her private chambers once more like clockwork. She allowed you to enter before bending her way inside. You immediately walked over to her vanity as that was where she always fed from you right after brushing out your hair. You turned to her and smiled but she stopped next to her own bed. “Come here to me, my little love.” You walked up slight confusion on your face. “If any of this makes you uncomfortable, I want you to stop me. Can you do that for me, draga mea?” You nodded slightly. She sat down on the edge of her bed and reached her hand to wipe the wrinkle that etched on your forehead in your confusion.
“My little doe, you mean more to me than you could ever know.” She pulled your hand to her and moved both of you to the head of the bed. Gently she cupped your chin in her large hand. You closed your eyes and suddenly you felt her lips press against yours. Gods they were so soft but so cold. You reciprocated her kiss. Alcina had craved this for too long but she needed to pace herself. She has the rest of the afternoon until the night to indulge in anything your freely gave to her. You didn’t move to stop her and she took this as invitation to continue further. Keeping your lips pressed to hers, her hands roamed your body lower than just your back. She relished in the soft skin of your thighs and the way you felt under material that had softened from years of wear and wash. She couldn’t help but think of how your bare skin would feel under her own hands.
Your own arms snaked their way to her face as you cupped the sides with both hands. Your lips continued to move in tandem with her own letting soft whimpers escape here and there. Her hands grabbed the hem of your dress and slowly made her way up to removing the garment. You whined when she separated the kiss to completely remove the dress. “Are you still okay, little doe?” You answered with a small yes and moved to undo the buttons behind her own dress. Once the buttons were undone enough to slide her dress down you moved the sleeves down her muscular arms. She couldn’t keep her eyes off of looking how small your body was compared to hers. How soft and unblemished your skin was. All she wanted was to kiss every soft inch. Even the one side of your neck that she fed from ceased a single indent. She always made sure to feed carefully as to not rise suspicions.
She pulled you back into her slightly laying over you and began to kiss you once more as her hands roamed to your chest. She wrapped her hand around to undo your bra carefully to free your soft tissue from their confines. She separated once more to look at all of you that was exposed. The gods certainly took their time in creating such a spectacular woman she had thought. Her whole hand moved down to palm your breast lightly. She could feel the bumps raise and your nipple harder under her touch. You let out a little moan under her touch. She could spend eternity doing anything to hear your little sounds. Little sounds only she could make you release. She looked into your eyes creating the distraction for her hand to move to your underwear. You stared deep into her golden orbs never breaking as she sought out your core with her finger. Your breath hitched when you felt her slide down your soft folds and move back up to your clit. You were warm and wet and all for her. Alcina’s sweet little doe. She pressed a small peck to your lips then moved her mouth down to your breast that her hand had just been. She began to suck as she teased the entrance to your tight hole. She relished in the feeling of your most intimate parts and the sounds she could draw out from your delicious mouth. You were arching your back into her wanting nothing more than to be so close to her.
Your hands gripped anywhere the could. Her arms, shoulders, neck, hair. Everything she was doing made your brain go crazy. You did everything you could to find where your hands fit best. Her soft tongue swirled around your nipple while the tip of her finger pressed deeper into you. She was losing patience in having more of you and it was taking everything in her body not to devour before she was content you felt as good as she did all those times she tasted your blood. But damn did she want all of it. He finger pressed deeper until she was down to her knuckle. Your soft panting didn’t give any indication that you were in pain. She started to move her finger in and out at a slow pace to get your body use to the intrusion. Your panting grew louder and so did your moans. You wish you could feel this way everyday from this moment on. So cared for, so deeply wanted. Alcina kissed her way up from your breast to your neck. Leaving light nips and soft kisses near where she could feel your pulse quicken. He finger moved faster inside of you, pressing at your soft walls until she found that spongey spot that would surely get more sounds out. She had to take her time though.
‘Ohs’ and ‘ahs’ were all you could really get out along with all of your sickeningly sweet moans. Alcina never expressed out loud but she wanted you to say her name. Moan her name out from your lips, cry to the gods or whoever would listen that she could make you feel bliss like you’ve never felt before. No one ever got this much want out of her. She never wanted anyone the way she wants you right now. The way she’s been wanting you since you came to the castle. Her little doe unraveling under her half naked body. You were finding it harder to contain any noises and began to moan louder the faster her finger moved. All of a sudden curled her fingers, hitting that one spot. “My Lady!” It made Alcina hummm. “Tell me little doe, do you know my true name?” It took every fiber of your being to come up with an answer for your Lady. “N-no my Lady. T-the maids, they d-don’t talk.”
It was amazing you could come up with that through your haze. The Lady was sucking on your neck while she curled her finger more to get you to come undone the way she wanted. “It’s Alcina little one. I want to hear my name fall from your lips.” The knot in your stomach grew. You were getting very close from her sinful fingers buried inside your tight hole. Alcina could feel your Wales tightening around her. As she felt you get closer she bit down on your neck to drink from you the way she had truly craved. The knot broke and you came hard on her fingers, screaming her name to the high heavens. She continued to feed through your orgasm and once she felt your walls stop pulsing she lid her finger out and detached away from your neck.
You were sweating at this point. Utterly spent wrapped up with your Lady holding you tight. She wiped the little droplets that formed on your neck and pulled you onto her as close as she could get you. Your head rested there on her chest still panting. She would go to the farthest parts of the world for you. Hopefully she would have all of the time to prove it to you now.
“I could drink a case of you.” She whispered into your hair before placing a kiss to your crown. You mumbled a little getting more comfortable and sinking into Alcina’s chest.
Sleep began to take over you. “I would still be on my feet.” Was the last thing you said before slumbering in your Lady’s arms.
