I know Beardsley already alluded to thing but it was really sad and powerful when Kristen tells Cassandra that she knows “chaotic is not cute.” And then Cassandra straight up tells her, “I can’t rely on you.”
And Kristen and the entire audience have to agree. It’s really humbling for me as an audience member but I’m guessing also for Kristen in that moment

Part of this has been sitting on my drafts for a while and after Brennan's "Do you think Kristen even wants to be a cleric?" question (which was honestly my conclusion as well), I think Kristen's only problem is not executive dysfunction. She also does not know how to be a cleric in a healthy way.
She only knows how to be a follower. Kristen was not good at converting people for Helio either and lost her faith before learning. She probably associates that work with Helio, even as a prophet of a deity she created. I have seen a few people mention her position as a prophet must feel very similar to being Helio's chosen and I fully agree.
Also, there is a way to do chaos in a productive way but Kristen's ends up destructive because its chaos without purpose. I think we have seen all the ways embracing chaos has been good (creating Cassandra came from embracing doubt and chaos) and in this season we're really seeing the other side of chaos which is fear, confusion and anger in the face of uncertainty.
Side note: I think Fig is actually a decent example of chaos with purpose: her actions are absolutely insane ("I disguise myself as him" "I minor illusion a sexy rat") but usually have an end goal (I wanna get the racist pirate off Riz, I wanna find Zayn through his rat) and are within her capabilities which really works with being the archdevil of rebellion.

Batfam Goes to See Hamilton (Thanks to Jason Todd)
note: based on the fact that i saw hamilton on broadway today!
So, Jason somehow managed to drag the entire Batfam to see Hamilton—because yes, Red Hood is a theater nerd, and apparently, none of them can say no when he’s excited about something. Here’s how it went down:
Jason Todd: Living for it. Jason knows all the lyrics by heart and is practically singing under his breath the whole time. He’s vibing hard to every song, mouthing along to My Shot like he’s in the show. You’d think he was a one-man standing ovation from the way he keeps reacting to every scene. He also goes full nerd mode explaining all the historical inaccuracies and why they don’t matter because the storytelling is incredible.
Bruce Wayne: Very confused, but engaged. He’s trying to get into it, but you can see the gears turning in his head, over-analyzing every political angle and historical context. He does appreciate the themes of legacy, sacrifice, and honor (classic Bruce). He might’ve even shed a few tears during It’s Quiet Uptown, but he’ll deny it forever.
Dick Grayson: Having the time of his life. Dick is the one clapping the loudest, laughing at all the jokes, and crying during the emotional songs. He’s completely caught up in the performance, and by the time The Room Where It Happens comes on, he’s all but bouncing in his seat. He also loves the choreography and probably made a mental note to learn the dances later.
Tim Drake: Secretly loving it but pretending to be indifferent. Tim walked in like he was only going to humor Jason, but by the end of Act 1, he’s fully invested. He tries to keep a straight face, but you can catch him mouthing the words to Wait for It and tapping his fingers during The Room Where It Happens. He’s obsessed with the way the show mixes history, strategy, and storytelling, and he’s definitely taking mental notes on things to google later for a deep dive into historical rabbit holes. After the show, he’s already re-watching bootleg clips on YouTube, but if anyone asks, he’ll just say, “It was fine.”
Damian Wayne: Not impressed. Damian doesn’t see the appeal. He’s sitting there with his arms crossed, giving side-eye to everyone clapping or singing along. “I could’ve done better,” he mutters after Guns and Ships, but you catch him tapping his foot during Yorktown, and he seems unusually focused during the duel scenes. Maybe it’s growing on him… but he’ll never admit it.
Stephanie Brown: Living her best life. Steph is totally into it. She’s laughing at all the jokes, especially King George’s bits, and probably even got Bruce to crack a smile. She’s belting out Helpless and Satisfied in her seat and whispering excitedly to Cass about how they should come back for the next performance. She’s already planning a Hamilton-themed karaoke night after.
Cassandra Cain: Loving the energy. Cass isn’t much for words, but she’s totally feeling the performance. The choreography and intensity of the actors keep her fully engaged. She’s watching every movement with laser focus, and you can see her appreciating the way the actors tell the story through body language. She’s not super vocal about it, but afterward, she signs to Jason that it was “powerful.”
Duke Thomas: Totally into the music. Duke is all about the beats and rhythm. He’s vibing in his seat, really feeling the music and lyrics. You catch him nodding along during Wait for It and The Room Where It Happens, and he’s probably already added the soundtrack to his Spotify. He’s impressed by the storytelling through music and keeps shooting Jason looks like, “Okay, you were right—this is awesome.”
At the end of the show, Jason’s the first to stand up, clapping like his life depends on it, and despite the varied reactions, everyone else follows suit.
#tim drake#jason todd#dick grayson#bruce wayne#damian wayne#stephanie brown#cassandra cain#duke thomas#batfam#the batfam go see hamilton#they all leave with a ne found appreciation for musical theater and a few new songs in their playlists#i just watched hamilton on broadway and it was the greatest thing ever#phillips actor naruto ran up the stairs and i lost it#they did so good like i think the cast did soo good embodying the characters#i already wanna go again#the reactions arent well thought out so i dont think this is accurate to how i think they would actually react ykwim?

Nightwing's weird fem-coding
! LONG POST !
Finally got around to jotting down my thoughts on the weird way that Dick Grayson (Nightwing) often occupies female-coded roles without being a particularly feminine guy. This is entirely due to me procrastinating on my finals. Okay!
Dick has often been cited as the hero who plays into the "female gaze", and he takes up some key roles that are typically reserved for women characters.
A large portion of Dick's fem-coding is contingent on his being with his family, and when he's not with them, this fem-coding kinda drops away, such as when he's with his various teams or acting solo.
His most prominent (and imo, complex) femme-coded role is:
-> Eldest Daughter + Widow
Eldest daughter syndrome means " frequently feeling like you’re not doing enough, like you’re struggling to maintain a veneer of control, like the entire household relies on your diligence." It's born out of the unique way that first-born girls are expected to take on adult roles around the household before they've had an opportunity to fully experience childhood (an opportunity their younger siblings will have, in part due to this sacrifice). It creates a strong sense of independence and a desire to be a good role model, but also leads to undue pressure and perfectionism.
Dick acts as a central emotional pillar for those in his family. To the point that when he fakes his death, it breaks something fundamental in the family dynamic:
Not only is it repeatedly made clear that Bruce depends on Dick to act as a lifeline for his own mental struggles, but moreover, his siblings do as well. In a very literal sense, the maintenance of the batfamily rests on Dick's shoulders. Bruce is so rarely available for emotional support that these children turn to the next best thing, which, to be fair, is better than what Dick had growing up. He has to clean up so many breakdowns, it's honestly pretty staggering.
As the OG sidekick, Dick receives quite a bit of hero worship, particularly from younger heroes/sidekicks, who look toward him for guidance. As a naturally upbeat and welcoming person, Dick ends up in the position of bringing light to everyone, not just Bruce. For example, here's Cassandra:
This balancing effect is unique to Dick's skill set. However, this can (and does) backfire very easily. The same pragmatism Bruce engages in hurts extra bad when coming from Dick: like when Dick had to take Robin away from Tim. Not to mention just how intimidating Dick's legacy is, which can create resentment when his successors aren't able to play this role so easily. For example, Jason both before and after his death expressed insecurity that he felt he was constantly being compared to Dick, and falling short.
As the original character that people think of when they think "sidekick", DG Robin (and his successors) had the advantage of not losing prominence even as his contemporaries (Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, etc.) were de-prioritized in favor of independent teenaged heroes (like Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire). But that means Robin as a concept now has to deal with questions that weren't so prominent in the earlier decades, such as: "How do we justify a grown-ass man using a child (and in fact, children) as emotional crutches?"
It's icky to think about, but there's no denying that early Batman and Robin got side eyes for homosexual subtext. I mean, they literally call each other "partners". So while that "subtext" was, and remains, just audience speculation, given Dick is literally Bruce's adopted son, there is room, I believe, to call into question how healthy it is for Bruce's oldest kid to be taking on a nearly-parental role and be a core pillar of Bruce's emotional regulation.
Hot take here, but I think Dick's relationship with Bruce was/has been pretty emotionally incestuous for a long time.
-> Emotional incest
"Emotional incest[...] is a type of emotional abuse performed by a parent. In cases of emotional incest, parents rely on their children for significant emotional support, which is a reversal of roles. Emotional incest is more than just relying on your kids on occasion—rather, it is an extreme dependence on them." (There's a pretty good argument to be made that Bruce has been emotionally incestuous with all his Robins, especially Dick and DEFINITELY Tim, but y'know. Small steps.)
Emotional incest is a semi-common consequence of eldest daughter syndrome; the natural conclusion of deputizing a child to manage the other children combining with an inability to see the child as a child, still in need of emotional guidance, but more like an adult capable of shouldering the burdens of grown-ups dumping their traumas on them.
To be clear here, while emotional incest may not be incest in the most traditional, taboo sense, it is still abuse. It's putting a burden on a child they shouldn't have to carry, even for children that aren't dealing with such extreme burdens as "grown-ass man running around in a fursuit needs me to keep him from getting himself killed". It's a perversion of a healthy parent-child relationship, where the child is treated more like a partner than a child. In Dick's case, it further exacerbates the parentification he already experiences. This is made more explicit when Bruce "dies" and Dick is cast into a sort of "Widow" role.
Dick reluctantly dons the cowl in an attempt to bring order to his family members. He's also left to parent Damian, alone. He has to make the decision to take Robin from Tim, and try to deal with the fallout from that decision. He has to put a stop to Jason's fratricidal rampage. He's made into the de-facto head of the family.
And the thing about this is: Dick's not even bad at it. In comparison to Bruce's litany of disasters-in-parenting, Dick does a pretty bang-up job of managing his siblings, heading the Justice League, and being Batman. But the crucial point is that he does this at the expense of his own mental health, which is the crux of eldest daughter syndrome. There's no denying that at the time, Dick was most certainly the best choice for New Father Figure, but it was a choice he was pushed into, and a sacrifice he had to make. When this sense of responsibility to the point of self-sacrifice is pushed to its logical conclusion, it has the effect of making Dick a Martyr-type figure.
-> Protector/Mama Bear/Avenger
Dick has shown repeatedly that his hot button is his family. From Tony Zucco to allowing Blockbuster to be killed after the villain targeted Haley's Circus, going after Nightwing's family is a pretty good way to earn yourself an asskicking. Probably the most infamous example of this is when Dick thought the Joker had killed Tim, beating the clown to death to avenge both Tim and Jason.
And while this role isn't particularly feminine, I do think it's interesting that Dick protects his family members from each other with almost the same frequency that he protects them from outside threats. He's pretty notorious for wrangling Damian and Tim, foiling Jason's murder plans, and most importantly, beating the shit out of Bruce whenever he crosses a line, such as when Bruce asks Dick to conceal being alive from their family to join Spyral or when Bruce wanted to abandon the Bruce Wayne persona after the murder of Vesper Fairchild. Or of course, more recently after Bruce's latest MK-ULTRA shenanigans.
This basically puts Dick in the position of being the glue that holds the family together, at basically all times, but especially in times of conflict. This also means he's put in the dangerous position of bodily defending his younger siblings from Bruce's wrath or irresponsibility, a position made even more awkward given the whole emotional incest thing.
That's not to say that Dick's relationship with his family is 100% unhealthy. Dick and his family members (including Bruce!) feel legitimate affection and care for each other. There are times when the dynamics here are indeed healthy. And like most people with eldest daughter syndrome, the unhealthy nature of this dynamic is usually understated. Oldest sibling syndrome is often just an unavoidable consequence of how parenting works. So while I am of the opinion that this dynamic is often unhealthy, hot take: I'm fine with that.
Now, though I've just listed some tropes that he only falls into around family, Dick also falls into some fem-coding all the time, regardless of who he's with, and these have to do mostly with his sexuality.
-> Sexual Assault & Harassment
Yeah, so nobody is surprised that this is a factor. Look up any list of the top ten hottest/sexiest/most attractive male superheroes, I guarantee 9/10 times Nightwing is number 1. However, unlike his father, whose attractiveness is usually played as a part of the male wish-fulfillment fantasy, something people aspire to be, Dick's attractiveness more often makes him an object of desire- very similar to how most attractive female characters are perceived.
And as an object of desire, Dick Grayson is constantly having to deal with being objectified.
Now, Dick Grayson being an attractive character is not the problem. Dick Grayson being sexually assaulted isn't even the problem. the problem is that he keeps being harassed, assaulted, and raped in ways that are flagrantly nonconsensual, and yet it's not treated with the seriousness it deserves. In fact, it took a full decade for Devin Grayson to retract her previous statement and admit that yes, the rooftop scene with Catalina Flores was in fact rape, and it's never been acknowledged in-universe (though, comics have always been atrocious at calling out sexual abuse of all kinds, let alone that which targets men).
Hell, even when he in-universe calls it out, he's dismissed immediately and the story continues like nothing happened.
Like???
Dick's adult sexcapades (which were consensual and enthusiastic) have long contrasted with the numerous times he's been harassed; times in which he comes across as bored, exasperated, and even frustrated with his own attractiveness and the vulnerable position it often leaves him in.
This puts him in the rare (in comics) position of being a male character who consistently and near-exclusively has his sexual agency and boundaries violated by women - a position that authors uniformly refuse to examine despite writing him into it all the fucking time.
Other characters around him frequently make comments passing off this harassment and assault as a natural consequence of Dick's own attractiveness, making "jokes" that essentially amount to "I understand why someone would want to assault him". Which- UH?
There is also, of course, the unavoidable reality that as an acrobat and an aerialist, he receives a very specific type of sexual harassment
the nature of nightwing's fight style necessitates a type of tight-fitting suit that male heroes typically don't go for: an extremely slick suit with bare-minimum armour that again, makes him vulnerable in a way most male heroes aren't, but a style female heroes wear all the time, whether it makes sense for them or not. This of course then allows artists to draw attention to this fact by posing Nightwing in poses usually reserved for femme fatales:
And unlike the Hawkeye Initiative, these poses are (largely) unironic, and not played for jokes. Dick isn't arching his back or looking over his shoulder to poke fun at how female heroes are treated; he does so because the artist (clearly correctly) sincerely believed these poses would play into the unironic gaze of the audience, and also probably thought it was hot. It's the same line of thought artists use when posing femme fatales.
He's even been known to use his sexuality as a bargaining chip, much like more traditional Femme Fatales. In Batman and Harley Quinn (2017), he refers to sleeping with Harley Quinn after being kidnapped by her as one of "the things I do for Gotham", to which she responds "I'm taking that as a 'yes'." And that's uh- not how consent works.
And this particularly sucks because- HELLO? The opportunity to explore the very real and tragically underacknowledged phenomenon of sexual violence against men is literally invaluable, especially with such a prominent character. It's one thing to ignore that men face sexual violence, it's another, entirely more unforgivable thing to continuously and explicitly depict such scenarios and play them off as jokes or not as serious as they clearly are. But what did I expect from an industry that has never had a good track record on sexual violence anyway.
-> Queercoding?
There's also of course the fact that DC has been, as of late, dropping hints that Dick might be bisexual.
That on it's own doesn't mean anything, but when paired with the fact that DC has been angling toward giving Dick a similar playboy persona that Bruce has, just with men included, it's just very interesting.
(BTW: The likelihood DC actually commits to making Dick bi is, uh, not a lot, but if they're gonna stick with this weird closet stuff for a while, let's hope they do so in a way that doesn't make him sound like a cross between Donald Trump and Harry Styles next time? Please?)
Anyway, all of this is basically to say I am forever fascinated by the gender dynamics of Dick Grayson, likely due to the fact that I'm projecting all my eldest daughter traumas onto him, and that someone who's background is in Gender Studies needs to get on this shit if they haven't already. I just love this character sm.
#this ended up taking/being way longer than I thought it would#but its done now so i can stop procrastinating yayyyy#shut up somaya#batfam#dcu#dc universe#batfamily#batman#dick grayson#nightwing

Hiya, I'm new to the blog but I've loved everything I've read so far! I was wondering if I could request the Dimitrescu daughters (separately) getting saved by a maiden that they thought hated them? Like, maybe a hunter breaks in + smashes a window and the maiden literally carries (or drags) the daughter to safety and refuses to leave their side until they've warmed up.
Maybe the maiden never actually hated the daughters (like a miscommunication/the maiden having a difficult to read expression), or maybe they stopped hating the Dimitrescus a while ago but nobody noticed? Idk, it's up to you, I just think you'd have a fun take on it :3
I went through the anon lists and hopefully I didn't miss any, so if possible can I be sleepy anon? Please and thank you, and have a great day/week!
Hi :)! I’m happy to hear ya like my works :)🙌 Honestly what a cute prompt!
Let’s get into it :) anon name is all yours🙌
Masterlists
Bela
Bela is, a mystery to you
To her, you seem like an enemy. A staff member, yet with a deep hatred towards her
Perhaps, if you weren’t so pretty and cute, perhaps if she didn’t like you in some strange way she is too proud to voice, you would’ve ended up in the basement already
Alas, Bela keeps you safe and only puts you in your place when your work isn’t done properly. She thinks you should consider yourself, lucky
To you, she seems like an uptight boss bent on punishing you for every little mistake
You wonder, what have you done for her to be this obsessed?
She notices every little mistake you make
A true perfectionist, you realize soon enough, and it bothers you to no end
But, unlike her interpretation of you, you don’t hate her. You don’t even really dislike her
She’s just..uptight, a little bitchy, yes. But she’s smart, you’ve come to notice, and quite obviously she is breathtakingly beautiful
Perhaps, if both of your false views and interpretations of one another were out the way, you’d have talked sooner
You would have liked to start a conversation with the supposedly dangerously intelligent and cold eldest daughter of Alcina Dimitrescu
Bela, on the other hand, would have liked getting to know you sooner
Still, she only ever sees false hatred in your eyes that is truly mere curiosity
She has never been all that good at reading people’s emotions
Their intentions? Yes, their facial features? Yes. But still, her books cannot teach her to fully understand humans, people, it seems
It’s a fatal misunderstanding on both your parts, one that this day will clear up, it seems
The day, while not being an ordinary one at all, is not all that unusual to Bela. An uprising, again, though somewhat cute in numbers
Four maidens. Bold, or perhaps only desperate enough, to dare fight back
It’s a pointless fight, a squabble she doesn’t even bother notifying her sisters about
Even with the many knives and utensils scattered around them in the kitchen, the fight seems pointless
That is, until Bela easily dodges a pot that smashes into the fragile window behind her
Immediately, she screams in pain at the cold air rushing in
The three remaining troublemakers spot their opportunity instantly, so it takes less than seconds for the other kitchen windows to be shattered
Bela grits her teeth, one arm wrapped around her protectively, her other hand clutching her sickle
She refuses to tell her sisters. Refuses to allow Mother to hear of this. She can do this! She can’t cause her family trouble. Cassandra would have never let this go on. Daniela would have killed them in seconds. Bela should have never let it come this far, should have prevented the window from breaking..
Throwing herself back into her battle, she strikes one down, but pays the bitter price when two steak knives are sliced and thrust into her thighs
Immediately, she falls, her blood gushing, her limbs aching and as if on fire. The cold immediately finds the large gashes and digs through. The blades of the knives seem icy cold like the terrain outside
She manages to knock one down with her, but as the back of her hooded head hits the windowsill, her vision begins to blur
One more
She tries to call out for Cassandra, hoping, pleading, Mother will hear nothing of this
To her surprise and horror, she finds she can’t reach her sister, too far away for her weakened swarm to detect
She grasps for her weapon, but can’t detect it. Was it lost when she fell? She can’t remember, but tastes her own, foul blood in her mouth
With difficulty, she sees the maiden’s lips moving. She can’t make out what she’s saying, but her expression enough is sufficient to allow her to assume it must be some kind of insult
Pride, cockiness, a human’s downfall
She watches as, seemingly out of nowhere, you stand behind her, bringing Bela’s abandoned sickle down at her neck
It’s messy, and rough, but enough for the woman to drop her weapon and scream. Enough to fall to her knees and enough for Bela to finish her off
Golden, unfocused eyes meet yours. She looks unsure. Worried. Confused. Cold. Hurt. Scared
Never did you think Bela Dimitrescu would feel such things. Never did you think you would truly see a glimpse of humanity in her
But, you have…
You have seen her eyes squint when she laughs with her sisters, seen the faintest hint of a blush and happiness hidden beneath pride when being praised by her mother. You have seen her playful annoyance aimed at her youngest sister
When you close in on her, her first instinct is to lean in. Then, nearly within that same moment, she snarls and pushes herself harder against the cold wall
You hate her. She has no reason to believe you are not part of this attack, or at the very least are now that her weakness is so pathetically displayed
But you don’t approach predatorily
With your hands raised, you gently move closer to her
She watches you closely, her golden eyes watchful even as her body trembles
Slowly, you unwrap the sleeping robe from around you. Is it this late already? Bela hadn’t noticed
The material is thin, but the action shows your intentions nonetheless, and so she allows you to lean into her personal space
A small, quiet gasp passes her lips when you pick her up. Automatically, she sets her hands on your shoulders and wraps the robe tighter around herself
With her vision blurry and the foul taste in her mouth, her bloodied, non functioning legs and aching arms, she doesn’t protest when you keep holding her up and close to you
Your warmth is…comforting
Bela winces a little. She doesn’t want to look up at you, doesn’t want to ruin this perfect moment
After all, when she does look up, what will she see? Hatred? Annoyance? Cockiness?
You pass the fireplace, walk up the stairs
She clings tighter to you, but there are no others in the hallway
All staff members know better than to leave their rooms at nighttime, and even more so in winter, when it is known the residents of castle Dimitrescu are more on edge and easier to irritate
After a little while she notices where you’re taking her- her own room, her safe harbour
She extends an aching arm and closes her fingers around the door knob, helping you open the way inside
She wonders; have you ever been in here? What do you think?
Despite her annoyance, Bela manages to bite down a curse when her cheeks heat up a little
Secretly, perhaps, she wants you to like her room
And like it you do
Bela is every bit the perfectionist you knew she is
But, there is beauty in this
Her shelves are organized neatly. The books placed in them tell you the woman in your arms is fond of just about everything
Information and documentaries of a vast range of topics can be found, from hobbies to animals, to biomes, to sciences
Her bed is made and her nightstand is nearly empty, save for the storybook placed on it
It isn’t opened and sports no mark or so
You assume she hasn’t touched it in a while, but somehow, you correctly guess that it’s meant for the few times her sisters sneak into her room and the story calms their anxious minds
When Bela looks up at you eventually, she gasps quietly at the softness found in your eyes
She stays quiet as you set her down on the bed, doesn’t even wince when you brush aside her hair to have a look at the nasty cut on her head
With the heat of the room, the wounds begin healing slowly
And still, you fuss over her
She hopes you don’t take notice of her dusty pink cheeks and wide eyes when you press your sleeve to her forehead
Your subtle smile tells her differently
Cassandra
She hates you, you’re sure of it
And you hate her, she’s sure
After all, why else would she dump dead, stinking deer in front of your room every single morning?!
Why else would she do this to you and no one else!
Why is she tormenting you? What have you done to her!
After all, why else would you dispose of her beautiful gifts every single morning?
You must hate her!
She feels stupid for gifting you her finest meat every day, but can’t stop, either
Perhaps she can yet woo you, after all
But you dump it off to the kitchens every time! Not even back to her! The kitchens! For common staff!
You must hate her…!
When you pass her in the halls, you do your best to avoid eye contact. Were you looking at her, you would notice her doing the exact same thing
Despite her hatred for you, you are curious about her
She’s beautiful, there’s no question there
With chocolate-coal-brown hair that easily falls down at her shoulders, sometimes curled, at other times straightened, her golden eyes you only sometimes dare gaze upon
She has one lazy eye, and you find it’s the cutest thing in the world. Her features are stunning and you regularly fight yourself to avoid staring at her
At night, at times, you can’t help but wonder what this beauty of a woman would be like curled against you
Her pale, snow-white skin pressed against yours, her face tucked away by your neck, your arms tight around her
Sometimes, you bitterly remind yourself; she would strike. Bite down at your jugular with all her might and drain the life from you
But, perhaps even happily so, you would allow her to
Despite her hatred of you, she has you wrapped around her finger
Despite your hatred of her, you have her wrapped around your finger
A raid at the castle marks the time both your lives are about to change
Raids are, by all means, hardly unusual
While they aren’t everyday happenings, all residents and staff of the castle, even the villagers, know of the foolish men and sometimes women attempting to break into the castle every few weeks or months or so
None are successful, but it seems this never dampens their spirit
But, there is protocol
And so you find yourself hiding in the only room closest to you at the beginning of the raid: the armory
The very armory occupied by Cassandra Dimitrescu
You know protocol, you know to hide in the nearest room, lock it even, and wait it out. Protocol never mentions the case being in which a Dimitrescu sister is near
You hold your breath, but it’s no use. She notices you immediately, and given the current raid at the castle you ought to be happy she doesn’t automatically strike you down
Instead, she holds your gaze for a moment. Your eyes meet a dark gold, more beautiful than anything you have ever seen before
You don’t notice you’re holding your breath until she stretches her arm out, her gloved fingertips pointing towards the back of the room
You understand instantly. A hiding spot, as instructed. Of course
Even as you slide between and behind the large barrels, hide behind the suits of armor standing at the back, you can’t help but keep your eyes lingering on her
Her back is smooth, her hips surprisingly slim
She looks regal, yet lethal in the way her fingers twitch and she grasps the weapon tighter every few seconds
Soon after you’ve slipped into your hiding place and Cassandra started sharpening her weapon- you briefly wonder why it is she stays with you, rather than throw herself into the sure fight happening somewhere in the castle- when you begin hearing shouts ahead
Then, you see them, two men, as they burst into the armory
They’re broad shouldered and sport brown hair and a brown, stubby beard. Thick noses and burst lips adorn their faces. They’re twins, and judged by their clothing, hunters stemming from the village
You hold your breath and shrink against the suits of armor and barrels surrounding you
They sneer at Cassandra, their weapons- two machetes, one each, drawn. They’re wholly focused on her
If they’ve seen you, they pay you no mind at all
Cassandra doesn’t wait for one of them to attack. Instead, you watch as she throws herself into battle
Swarming halfway and masterfully avoiding all incoming attacks from the two intruders, she catches one’s neck with the end of her sickle and reaps chunks of the other man’s clothing and skin from his ribs
You watch as blood forms and drops fast. The man splutters uselessly, stumbling back while the other, though injured, tries to fight back
It becomes clear to you now, why Cassandra is known as the best huntress at castle Dimitrescu
Despite her impressive display, your eyes press shut when the injured man stumbles in your direction
Again, he doesn’t seem to take notice of you, and yet you don’t dare move
Then, a loud bang forces your eyes open and a scream from your lungs
But you are not the only one screaming, and so you are lucky enough to be unnoticed again, for…
Cassandra’s scream was the one outweighing yours, you realise
The woman screams and shakes, her hood torn off to reveal teary eyes and her beautiful, pale skin breaking off slightly
Behind her, you notice the crack in the wall now a large gap. It must have been caused by the explosion you’ve heard
She’s still fighting strong, having finished the already weakened man bleeding out near you
Still, you grit your teeth and watch with wide eyes as the machete of the other connects with her arm. At first, she howls in pain, the noise so desperate and pure you almost cry
Then, the limb falls. You watch as it falls from her and breaks off into what must be hundreds of little flies that curl in on themself as the cold wind touches them
You grit your teeth when the woman stumbles backwards, her back dangerously close to the large gap in the wall. If she was to fall…
The man seems to have the same idea, pushing and swinging his machete around like a madman trying to make her back up into the gap
You decide you can’t bear to stand idle while her fate may be sealed
Slithering from behind the armor and barrels, you yank the other machete from the dead man’s tight grip
In a smooth, albeit difficult swing, the sharp blade meant for monsters connects with the man’s exposed neck, just where Cassandra struck him before
His head tips to the side as he collapses, and you drop the weapon immediately
Cassandra groans and growls madly as you near yourself and push her weak arm wielding the sickle aside
She reminds you a little of an animal with rabies, the way she shakes and growls, and you hope you don’t pay the bitter price for your care
Still, you wrap your arm around her slim hips and pull her towards you, wary of the large piece of broken off wall behind her
She doesn’t fight you, merely keeps on growling and- crying? You can’t be too sure. You didn’t take her for one to cry, but then again, you wince when you nearly step on what used to be her arm
Carefully, you scoop the unmoving flies from the floor and into your pocket
The woman is clearly out of it, her lips parted and sharp, fang-like teeth on display as she snarls and growls over and over again, her screams quiet, but almost banshee like in their shrill tone
You wonder; is she trying to reach her sisters with it? If she is, it’s entirely too quiet and weak of a scream, you decide
You take another gamble and hook your free hand under her legs, promptly lifting the woman into your arms
Again, she snarls and shakes, but makes no move to attack you
That is, if you don’t count her sharp, bloodied nails of her remaining hand digging into your shoulder
And still, you can’t bring yourself to believe this is meant to be an attack
You carry her out the library and the only place you know to be warm; the kitchens near the grand dining room
Cassandra relaxes significantly as you move her to the room, the warm fires and steam warming her sore body
Still, you don’t dare let go of her
When you hold your breath, you realise; she’s almost..purring? That can’t be right
The next thing you realise are the flies, previously unmoving, buzzing in your pocket
You set the woman down on a clear part of the table and retrieve one of them, smiling as it buzzes in your hand
You place a gentle kiss to it, not unaware of the small gasp coming from Cassandra, and release it. Immediately, it returns to the stump where her arm used to be
You repeat the process, kissing flies as they return to her
Cassandra’s thankful for the cold still in her body, for it’s at the very least suppressing her growing blush
You feel her lean against you and cant help but wonder;
Perhaps, she doesn’t hate you
Maybe, you don’t hate her
Daniela
Daniela is almost 100% sure you hate her
You never react to her sly smirks, her cute giggles, the sweet hand resting on your shoulder!
She has tried flirting with you for ages, and nothing!
You’re never rude to her, actually- you’re very kind to her!
You always bring her a flower when your work in the gardens is done
You always braid her hair for her and brush it out after
You make sure her room is clean and her bath is full of bubbles and delicious scents
You always smile when you see her
So why haven’t you kissed her yet!
She doesn’t understand
She’s thrown you so many signs! All she could. But you haven’t acted on a single one
She thinks, you must hate her
And you?
You’re a little…clueless
You like her, so very much
You lie awake at night, your mind occupied by the beautiful, auburn haired woman that regularly visits your dreams and thoughts alike
Sometimes, you dare dream
Could she be yours?
Could you make her happy?
Could she want you?
But is she not with others? So many stare when she passes, you hear the hushed voices either insulting, or praising her
She’s a goddess residing in this castle; what chance have you got?
You try to be close to her, yet never too close
You don’t want to disrespect her, never
You care far too much about her for such a thing
Then, one day, there is an attack
Lycans, they say, a stray pack headed from the village and led by their prey directly to the castle
Of course, the staff is immediately brought and locked away for safety
You are less lucky, having insisted the day prior you’d like to clean out the library
After all, this is where Daniela is known to spend her days…
Now, separated from the other staff members, you have little choice but to stay put
You try your best not to glance at Daniela, who stands with her sickle held tightly. She too heard the alarms, it seems
You grip the fire poker, your eyes still trained on the floor
You wonder; if you looked at her, could you ever advert your eyes again?
It seems, there is little to no time for you to dwell on this thought, for a loud bang and a snarl is all you hear when the door to the library is ripped from its hinges and a furry snout peaks through
Before you have time to react, Daniela grips the lycan already
You watch as she works, no, plays with the wild animal
She spins it and giggles, grips and yanks, breaks and slices
The beast only snarls at her, yet can’t even hope to land even a single claw on her
All goes well, you don’t even think you need to make use of your improvised weapon
Even the snarls and screams from the outside dull. They’re retreating, it seems
Then, however, a gasp is ripped from you when the beast pushes against you. Whether it did it on purpose or was knocked against you, you can’t tell, but you do realise one thing; you’re falling
Hoping to catch yourself, you reach out to grab all within reach
Only, unfortunately, is that a lever
In the next second you feel icy cold wind come down at you and hear the piercing scream of the auburn haired woman next to you
Your hand stretches out, your lips parting as you scream a warning that comes too late
She’s knocked back by the force of the lycan’s gigantic paw swiping at her, thick claws dragging through her dress and soft, pale skin
You feel ill as blood pools at her stomach and the sickle falls from her
She kicks the animal away, yet it looks, and sounds, as though each move only pains her so much more
You realise your own mistake fast and quickly work on shutting the windows again, her scream and your own blood pumping loudly urging you to work faster, faster, faster
When you look to the side, she’s barely sitting up, her bloodied hands and arms desperately shielding herself against the creature
You don’t think, can’t think, won’t take the time to think now
With the fire poker gripped tightly in your hand, you charge
You scream, and it’s met with a pained howl
Thankfully, Daniela must have injured the creature enough for a simple, powerful strike to its heart to finish it off
And still, you feel your uniform slip from you and the nasty, aching pain of the large slashes made at your back
You grit your teeth, ignoring the mark the creature has left on you even as its foulness enters your body
You turn Daniela to find her bloodied and shivering, her flies dropping, her skin seemingly switching between breaking and healing itself
Again, you don’t dare waste time
She watches you through a blurry haze as you wrap your arms around her. She almost tastes your scent
It takes everything not to taste you
She feels her wounds, the pain she has almost forgotten all about. What is pain? This is a nasty reminder
Next she’s lifted to you, her fingertips and face nuzzling your warm skin
You feel her move to you, as close as she could, and all but grant her this
You know now what happened, what you have caused her
And you’re set to fix it. You won’t allow a stupid mistake, an accident, to be it for her
Daniela shivers still as you pick her off the floor and rush through the halls
Yet, all she feels is you. Your warmth. Your heartbeat, loud and close against her ear. She loves every moment of it
She isn’t sure where you bring her at first, until she finds herself set on her bed
When did she get here? She can’t tell. Black dots appear in her vision and her stomach feels slick with blood even as it starts closing up again
You gently cup her cheek, your eyes, so beautiful and worried, checking her over
You notice the little cuts on her face heal and shut nearly instantly, whereas bruises caused by the cold wind stay stubbornly in place
Perhaps, if the cold hurts the woman, the heat could help her, you figure
Daniela whines when you move from her and for a moment you feel your cheeks heat up. Her fingers entangled with yours, her golden eyes wide and hopeful
She doesn’t want you to go. Not now. Even if you hate her
And really?
Neither do you
You only wish to hold her close, to protect the precious creature held so close to you
You wish to cup her face and stroke the soft fingers holding onto yours so sweetly
You want nothing but to nurse her back to health, to know her, really know her
To be here
To make her yours
You watch, the truth laid bare in her eyes. No flirty smiles you don’t understand, no hidden meanings behind words you can’t understand
Her feelings, exposed and shown to you in her bright, golden eyes
You lean down as gentle as you can, and even more so, you press your lips to the flower tattoo adorning her forehead
“I’ll draw you a bath, it will warm you up”, you whisper. Then, you promise:
“I’ll return, iubita mea”

Cait's Obsessive Personality hinted at in S1
To those who are shocked by "the sudden change in Cait's character."
This persistent need to pursue something to the bitter end has always been Cait. When Vi sees Cait's map of Zaun with all her notes for the first time, she makes a comment about how Cait might be more obsessive than Powder. In season 1, Cait's drive is a positive. But it's also implied that Cait lives under her mother's thumb, restrained from fully pursuing her goals because of her mother's power and disapproval. When the Piltover council rejects her proposal for Zaun (S1) and Vi storms off, Cassandra nods her head, a rare acknowledgement that she approves of Cait's actions.
After her own kidnapping by Jinx, Cassandra's death and the bombing of the memorial, Cait slips into her obsessive tendencies, but this time it is a way of coping with her grief, guilt, anger and vengeance. I seen some people say "I would never do what Cait did if a loved one died at the hands of a killer." Good for you. Not everyone reacts the same way to trauma or has the same circumstances to pursue vengeance.
Unfortunately, Cait doesn't have her mother's guidance or restrictions to stop her. Mel and Jayce are gone. She pushed Vi away. Her father is depressed, and so there's no one to stop Cait and say "Hey, I am on your own side and this is a bad idea." To make matters worse, Maddie and Ambessa are stroking her obsession for their own purposes. Cait probably knows she's being manipulated, but it is clear she is isolated and doesn't know who to trust, until Vi comes along and calls her an "angry mongoose" and "cupcake." For the first time in months Cait has someone who is honest with her and she can trust. Cait is then immediately on a path to make up for her "wrongs."
This point has probably already been made, but I thought I'd put it out there for those who haven't seen it.

headcanons on the re8 ladies when ur on ur period ✨
tw// periods, period pain, and mentions of blood
(this is quite short)
alcina dimitrescu
she is straight on the money. alcina knows you’re on your period before you even do - of course she notices the change in both your demeanour and even your smell. silently curses all/any higher power for the fact that you have to endure such pain each month. alcina does not like you to be left alone - she insists on using the desk in her room to work or if she has to leave then a maid is stationed outside the door to your shared rooms
bela dimitrescu
bela very vaguely already knew the concept of a period but was still quietly concerned at the sight/smell of blood coming from you. all but refuses to leave your side and will slightly panic whenever you hunch over during bad cramps. will definitely call donna and find out different ways in which she can help you relax
cassandra dimitrescu
how dare something cause you so much pain? at first she isn’t sure what has happened - she sees/smells blood and you in pain and decides that someone must pay for hurting you. is wholeheartedly against the fact that your body is ‘torturing’ you. she would definitely threaten a maid or two to find ways to alleviate your pain
daniela dimitrescu
again dani is not used to periods and will most definitely freak out when you’re bleeding and in pain - rushing to alcina panicking about you bleeding. i feel like you would have to explain it through a couple of times for her to calm down fully - but that’s not to say she’s not instantly trying to find ways to lessen the pain.
donna beneviento
all the comfort you could imagine. she is constantly trying to find ways in which she can stop you being in pain. you get the full works - teas, hot compresses, herbs, and tonics. she seems to be calm but if angies panicked running in circles when you groan in pain is anything to go by then she’s probably just pretending to be calm. poor donna just doesn’t like seeing you in pain

working on my version of veilguard, so far it goes like:
act 1:
exactly the same. inquisitor lavellan hired people who were unpredictable to track down Solas. And they did, untill that plan backfired. Well, shit. Solas is trapped. Evunaris are blighting the world with their two blighted dragons.
Solas continues to advice rook and rook informs the inquisitor. We need the wardens. But the first warden hates the inquisitor as much as he hates rook. Inquisitor is a wise woman, she knows she can talk down first warden so she does exactly that (you can do that as rook in game so why not as inquisitor? I seriously don't know why this game won't work if inquisitor was the protagonist but anyways it is what it is. Let's continue)
act 2:
after weisshaupt's fall, thousands of wardens dead, inquisitor realises this is not going to work. A group of seven misfits cannot win a war against immortal gods. They had an army, a network of spies and alliances with two nations when they were fighting corypheus... they need that strength once again. So time for inquisition 2.0 (kinda makes sense why different provinces/organisations will be willing to make an alliance with a former hero with a name than a random kid). So rook has some ground work to do while the inquisitor sets up the new inquisition at the lighthouse, which is much easier because they got dreadwolf's eluvian. The lighthouse was the heart of Solas' rebellion and now it's functioning as that once again. Lighthouse servers its purpose. Every adviser is there, inquisitor herself now acts like an adviser and rook gets the job done.
But you cannot win a war against immortal "gods" without having an immortal "god" on your own team, right? You need everyone on your side, even the people you can't trust fully. Inquisitor understands this and some members of the inquisition, that is Cassandra, is more than willing to get Solas out of that prison and have a "talk" about varric. And Cole needs someone who can understand him "i do not understand...the demon behind the crow's eyes is a friend or a foe?". So the inquisitor makes a deal with the dreadwolf. Freedom in exchange of his alliance.
They track down the dragons. With the help of our new dragon hunter, remaining wardens, what's left of inquisition army, the crows/shadow dragons and the dreadwolf himself. Rook manages to kill the dragons and wound Ghilan'nain with minimum loss of life.
In Arlathan, Rook et al infiltrates venatori's ritual. At lighthouse Solas senses that Elgar'nan has trapped Rook and their companions. He informs the inquisitor that he can help...Inquisitor suprised from his eagerness to help rook of all people (whose daily agenda is to annoy Solas to death) is hesitant. Solas says he wants to save the elves just like inquisitor wants to save her people.
"There is no other motive behind my plea other than saving innocents from being sacrificed for Elgar'nan's sadistic whims, like I did during my rebellion...Trust me vhenan. I know his mind"
So rather than Rook just telling Lavellan that "Oh Solas is good. You should totally try to redeem him". I'd rather have Adviser Inquisitor Lavellan and Adviser Solas slowly grow close to each other once again, like they did back in skyhold. A perfect parallel.
We all know he can't help but rizz her again with his fade talk
"Allow me to show you something, Inquisitor"
"You and your sweet fade talk"
"No fade tongue this time"
They relive all dai solavellan scenes... Even the crestwood scene. (These parallel moments with her are important because we know she almost changed his mind. That's why he ran away. Avoided her like plague for last 10 years because she has that power. To change his mind. And reliving dai moments with her is going to be the catalyst when we have to stop him in the end and redeem him)
It's here, in the garden, she mentions the letter he had sent. He finally... FINALLY tells her everything. His past, the titans, the veil, the evunaris, the dagger, the blight... his people... him being a former spirit of wisdom... Everything. Lavellan connects the dots and asks if this is why he was so hurt when his friend, a wisdom of spirit was corrupted, because it was personal, because it was his trauma. All new, faded for her.
"Forced to do something against its purpose, fighting... Is that what happened to you vhenan?"
"Yes"
"But you were always wisdom to me. My Solas. My wisdom. Everyday at haven and skyhold...I saw the real you. I saw Wisdom. The self you're always mourning. I loved all of you. I still do."
"Your empathy is a blessing. Your spirit pure and unmarred."
"I am only human, Solas. And so are you"
"That I am. A broken man."
"Not to me my love."
act 3:
Eclipse takes place. Solas and Rook kill Ghilan'nain but Neve/Bellara is lost. With the strength of the new inquisition and its allies, it is much easier to get in Minrathous. Rook and companions along with Inquisitor and Solas fight the blight. Solas tells Rook and Inquisitor the blight can sense him, some intelligence is controlling the blight tendril. They need to get to Archon's Palace and kill Elgar'nan with the dagger, while he fight the archdemon.
"What? On your own?"
"Don't be afraid, vhenan. All these years... My feelings for you, they never changed. Ar lath ma"
There's pain in his eyes, like that night in Crestwood. She's not sure what he means.
"Solas..."
" Now go with rook. When next we meet, let us be standing over Elgar'nan's body!"
"Woooow... Your husband is a... dog?"
"That's a wolf rook and he's not my husband"
"He is huge though"
"And fluffy..."
"Inquisitor, you can dream about petting your wolf husband after we're done here."
"He's not my-"
"LET'S GOOOO!"
If Solas is Wisdom, then he is also Pride. In Emmrich words "He is however, a former spirit. Solas cannot help but listen to appeals to his nature... his yearning for reflection." And his duty to save his people. So one last betrayal from the dreadwolf. Blighted Neve/Bellara informs that killing Elgar'nan will destroy the veil.
"Of course he lied! I knew something was wrong... his eyes. He's a terrible liar"
"Inquisitor what are we supposed to do?"
"We stick to the plan, Rook. I'll deal with Solas"
*outside dreadwolf cries in pain*
"Solas..."
"Inquisitor, Solas will do his part. We must press on forward.
"Yes Cassandra, but I need you and Cole with me."
"I understand. Always with you inquisitor."
Inquisitor, Casandra and Cole fight the blight and darkspawns, helping rook and companions get to Elgar'nan.
But Solas can't win alone. Blighted Neve/Bellara uses her power to free Solas and he kills the archdemon, making Elgar'nan mortal. Rook and companions kills him and the veil starts disintegrating.
"I am sorry for this final betrayal. But when you'll see the old world restored..."
Rook persuades Solas. He relents but it's not enough.
"I cannot. To stop now would dishonour those I have wronged to come this far"
"Even if those you've wronged asked you to stop?"
"Vhenan..."
"You think you've gone too far to come back. But you're wrong! I am here, walking the dinan'shiral with you!"
"I lied. I betrayed you."
"I forgive you. All you need to do is stop!"
"Ir abelas vhenan. But I cannot."
(I had to add my boy)
*Cole*
"They sleep, masked in a mirror, hiding, hurting, and to wake them I must burn down the sky again. Break the old chains. But it's not enough. Never enough. This world is too real."
"Cole?"
*Cassandra*
"You need to stop"
"But Varric...."
"Not your fault completely. Honour the death of your friend. All those years ago. When I asked what do you believe in, and you said you believed in People. We are people. Have faith in us, Solas"
*Cole*
"I long for my home, my people, my world. But here is also home. Here is home. She is home. Vhenan, my heart. Ar lath, ma vhenan. Wherever you are, there is my heart. Wherever you are, I am home. She is home and my heart and a cold fortress in the mountains that shines so brightly because she shines, she has made it home and they were together, the Inquisition, my family.... You are not alone Solas"
*Lavellan*
"Banal nadas. Ar lath ma vhenan"
Solas breaks and binds himself to the veil. Vows to keep it intact, protect innocents and help with the blight.
He's ashamed. So ashamed but he needs her to know his sincerity. Needs her to know that he can be that man she fell in love with. Her Solas, as she has said that night in the garden. So he looks at her finally, in her eyes and says. "I will go now and seek atonement." It's a promise, of a better duty, a better path, for her.
"But you do not have to go alone"
"Ar ghilas vir banal"
"Tel banal ara'ma vir shiral ma'lasa. bellanaris"
"Bellanaris"
~
And now we turn to my beautiful city
Black skies changed into blue
And my love is so wise and so pretty
I no longer dream of her
cause she is real
she is here
she is mine
And I am whole

Danny Punches a Clown part 9
masterpost
Danny is led up an unnecessarily long flight of stairs into a fancy house. The floors are all hardwood with rugs interspersed throughout the rooms.
Hood starts leading him down the hallway and he can see paintings and antiquities, so many rooms. He is reminded vaguely of Vlad's mansion back in Wisconsin, but this seems larger, and better decorated. They end up in a living room of sorts, lots of different chairs and couches wand a huge TV lining a whole wall.
Danny sits in one of the armchairs. Agent A soon comes in, with another tray of food. This tray seems to be for more than just him though. Hopefully. He could never hope to finish that many snacks by himself.
A isn't wearing a mask this time. “No masks upstairs, Master Jason. I'll keep the boy company until the rest of you get here.”
Hood (Jason?) leaves and A introduces himself as Alfred. Apparently, he is the butler of the people that live here. Makes sense that people rich enough to live in this house would have a butler.
Alfred lets him sit and eat for a few minutes in silence. The room gradually becomes more full as people come in and take their seats. They all introduce themselves as they come in and sit down. Damian and Dick sit together on a couch, with a girl he knows he’s never met before, Cassandra on Dick’s other side. Jason comes in and takes another armchair. Tim sits on a couch, a blond girl, Stephanie, and another boy, Duke, sit next to him. They all start working. Seems like Stephanie and Duke are in college, and Tim works at a big company.
Once the oldest person yet comes in, Bruce, and sits on an armchair, they all stop whatever else they were doing and turn to face him. He’s pretty sure he’s met most of them before while they were in masks, but other than Jason he doesn’t really know who is who.
“Can you tell us more about where you’re from now?” Bruce asked.
Danny looks around the face in the room. They’ve all been helpful and kind. And he’s so tired of lying all the time. They’re most likely going to kick him out once they get their answers anyway.
“I’m from a different dimension. I fled here after a fight.” Danny admitted.
They already seem less shocked than Danny would have imagined, and they aren’t calling him crazy yet, so this is going great!
“There is a… war, almost? Starting in that world.” Danny gets fully into storytelling mode, as none of the others seem like they’re going to interrupt his thought process. “It all started with my parents actually. They started building a portal to the ghost zone, and that’s when it all went downhill really. Especially for me. I had my best friends over, they wanted to see the portal, so I took them down to the basement.”
Danny took a deep breath. “My parents had put the on button inside of the portal, and when I went in… I hit it on accident. The portal turned on with me inside.”
Everyone in the room remained quiet, and Danny couldn’t bear looking at their faces right now. He did his best to move on. “The portal was open, and ectoplasm started seeping into our town, we didn’t realize at the time, but that becomes a bigger problem later. At the time, we -or I- was busy becoming a one-man army against an invasion of ghosts. My parents started developing weapons. The government declared any being whose body could process or contained ectoplasm was non-sentient and could be kidnapped, experimented on, and/or killed at will. The Anti-Ecto Acts. The government branch dedicated to ghosts, the G.I.W, invaded Amity. Me and my friends had been capturing the ghosts causing problems and sending them back into the ghost zone. Now, we had to do that while trying to play keep-away with my parents and the government, while trying not to get captured myself. The government decided they wanted to send a nuke into the portal, trying to kill all ghosts at once."
“I had to stop it. I was gathering all ghosts left in Amity to bring them with me to the Zone. My friends were going to close the portal behind us, destroy it. My parents had just finished their new gun.” Danny’s hand went to his side. “They chased us. I made it through the portal, with as many ghosts as I could find. Theoretically, the portal was closed once I left.”
Danny was quiet long enough that the others realized he was done.
“I’m sorry that happened.” Danny heard, he looked up, but didn’t know who had said it. They all seemed sad.
“And you’re… A ghost then?” Jason asked.
“Only half.” They all looked bewildered at that. “It’s complicated."
“So, you can’t go home?” Bruce asked.
Danny shook his head. “If all went well then the portal doesn’t exist anymore, not that I could leave this dimension without a portal. I’m stuck here.”
“You’ll be staying with us then.” Bruce nodded firmly. “Metas are protected in this world, Danny. I’ve worked on a team with a ghost before. You’re safe here, Danny.”

something I found really interesting about kristen in last night’s episode is how calm she was. the trailer made it seem like this was going to be an emotionally turbulent episode for her, with bobby dawn and her parents back to back, but she met each of those hurdles with a sort of zen detachment. i know the bad kids were making a concerted effort not to rile things up bc of the rage crystal factor, but it feels like everyone has still had a real outlet for their anger aside from kristen. in a season about emotions like stress and rage, its curious how outside of a few goofy moments, she really hasn’t leaned into rage. it makes me think of two things: 1. her comments to cassandra during her rage in the mall that anger was a “check engine light.” part of me gets a sense that kristen is fully ignoring that signal so that she can keep driving. if she acknowledges her anger, she may actually have to stop and take stalk of things in a way that the urgency of their task will not allow. and 2. it feels almost like a calm before a storm, a tide receding before a tsunami. kristen is acquiring stress mechanically even if she’s acting calm. there’s a real feeling in regards to kristen this season of being set up to fail no matter how hard you try or how good you are. her prioritizing academics this episode so that she can stay on bobby dawn’s good side, and him expelling her anyway, was such a clear example of this. how much more swimming against the stream will she have to do before it’s too much? i think we’re building to kristen going full rage monster, and wouldn’t you?

I'm still in awe of the level of self-determinationin Black Tabby Games. Both in Slay the Princess and Scarlet Hollow, they look so scripted on the surface, but your character has an amazing level of ability to assert their individuality. In Scarlet Hollow, I have played:
A gremlin who never showers, can and will eat literally anything, and makes a living stealing furniture and reselling it as upcycled on Etsy. They go out of their way to make their cousin's life difficult.
A beefy, attractive doofus who just wants the best for everyone and is in love at first sight with the nerdy goth girl. He also eats everything, but in an entirely different way.
A stressed out elementary school teacher who is very anxious about all this supernatural stuff and just wants to go home to her cat. She wants to keep her head down, so she's glued to Tabitha's side most of the time.
A streetwise skeptic who mostly goes out with Stella to have something to do and is reeling from their world getting turned upside down.
An psychic, Cassandra-esque young woman who desperately wishes people would listen to her. She sought solace in books to escape the stress of real life.
A cheerful dork who can talk to animals and is also psychic. They are fully unaffected by all this nonsense and are completely open about their abilities. They're very fond of Avery because they accept the evidence of their eyes and ears and roll with it.
I'm not done with the many possibilities of this game. It's wild.
Then there's Slay the Princess, where everything is a spoiler, but suffice it to say that you are spoiled for choice. Sometimes very very literally.
There are very few games that feel like you have this much agency. Even Baldur's Gate III is more limiting at times.

The Bad Parents would see Kristen in crisis, sort of in free fall, and all endeavour to help her. She's a kid who had to leave home because her parents are bigots. Then she moved in with her girlfriend's family (which thankfully is also her best friend's family). But do you ever think she was scared, even briefly, that she'd have nowhere to go when she and Tracker broke up? Like maybe in the back of her mind she wondered if the grace they'd shown her was because she was Tracker's girlfriend.
I think the bad parents would have rallied around her. Jawbone who knows how hard she's been grinding at school. Sandra Lynn who fully understands what it's like to be a young woman in crisis. (And who is used to dealing with Fig's special brand of bullshit; Kristen's problems might seem easier to tackle.) Wilma and Digby who are so kind and understanding but don't put up with bullshit and won't be pushovers. Even Sklonda who didn't want Riz's friends exploiting him, but you can't tell me she wouldn't hear from Riz that Kristen is Acing her cleric classes and crushing it on the campaign, and now you're telling Sklonda this girl who's really applying herself in shitty circumstances is being punished for it and on top of that it's going to effect her own kid's academics and future. Get the fuck outta here.
Kristen just needs one adult to march into that school with her and say "You're out of order." Like the school may be able to push around some kid and force her through hoops, but Sklonda or Sandra Lynn? No way. "You can't expel her. Kristen has perfect grades and is an active student in extracurriculars. What do you mean, 'She fails because her deity is dead'? Does Kristen still believe in her? Yes. Does Kristen still have her magic? Yes. How then can her goddess be dead? Last I checked Cassandra is a goddess of mystery. Just because you don't understand the mystery doesn't mean you have the right to punish Kristen for it. In fact combined with the cleric teacher's behaviour, this constitutes discrimination on religious grounds." Like... "Who's in charge here? You don't have someone qualified at the head of your administrative faculty? I'm going to have a class action suit brought against the school on behalf of the student body and you don't have Arthur Aguefort here to protect you."
Kristen needs an adult to reasonably address these issues on her behalf and failing that, an adult who will be mean.
Put me in a room with whoever you want from that school and I'll eat them alive. I'll make them cry. I don't care if Jace Stardiamond is evil or not. And I certainly don't care what big tent megachurch bullshit Bobby Fucking Dawn slithered out from. Fuck him and his Kentucky-fried drawl. I'll crush him.
(Side note: Kristen should have immediately begun whatever emancipation process Solace has because Mac and Donna should not be making legal and medical decisions on her behalf.)

As promised many months ago to end this day, here's a 🧵of the insanity Cassandra Cain's "human" body can do due to what David Cain put her through (besides the two obvious ones of body language and various forms of killing he trained her in).
The best issue that showcases that is of course Batgirl Vol. 1 #14 where various government agencies look at the footage Cass got caught filmed in.
The first few pages are literally showcasing how inhuman, but still bordering on human she is due to what David Cain put her through.
This is always fully covered throughout Batgirl Volume 1 and is usually forgotten when writers and editors tend to have their job. Not saying any names or storylines of any RECENT kind where a WAR broke out in GOTHAM.
is still salty YES
We've seen Cass's speed all the time throughout the Puckett run. To just showcase the prior issue's bullet dodging or her issue of Tim (#18) be child's play (along with her taking several shots up close and dodging each one from a certain corrupt government bastard).
Nah the best example of Cass's true "speed" is in #34 facing the mob boss Ving and his gang.
Yeah, you're seeing that right she is faster than a freaking bullet. Surprising how SOME seem to forget that in other comics. 🙄
Something even Batgirls remembered (#15) when Cass was playing shogun dodge with Cluemaster who was trying to shoot her with a shotgun.
But what of Cassandra's strength? Just how strong is she really?
#19 where Cass is faced with the obstacle of three-inch quartz preventing her from escaping a gas chamber. So let's examine just how thick three-inch quartz is.
Well, let's google just that.
A SEVEN on the hardness scale. Further research says that it can only crack due to "extreme impacts" which wouldn't ya know:
As for her body itself, Batgirl/Ghost: The Ressurection Machine #3 suggests this about Cass being immune to A LOT of poisons:
Something Batgirl Vol. 1 "sort of" delves in #50 when both she and Bruce are doused with a new batch of super drug but it turns out they were both immune to it due to them being built differently than normal humans.
This is all the more surprising because a few issues prior to (#46) Cass is doused with a version of it, but you could say given what she "sees" Cass is under A LOT of stress (the building tension with Bruce, Babs breaking up with Dick, Superboy/Black Wind stuff). Plus she does "sort of" snap out of it to beat the bad guys in that issue.
Just like in #51 she avoids the pheromones to Poison Ivy even though she is showing signs of falling under the hormones but snaps out of it due to willpower (something Bruce was almost succumbing to before he fully snapped out of it too).
It really feels like "this anti-poison" ability Cass had was all but forgotten once the series ended. Of course, naturally with a certain "infamous" story ONE YEAR LATER, but also Batman & Robin Eternal as she is affected by Fear Toxin (among other stuff too).
#9 & #59 showcase that David Cain shot Cass regularly so much that she can not even feel it. This could explain also HOW she was eventually able to dodge bullets and become so fast.
#22 also showcases this as well so this is not something simply just randomly put in. This was something the writers wanted to show the sickening lengths David Cain put Cass through.
Again, #14 brought up Cass's metabolism and how off the charts it was. I think something we just overlooked is that in #26 Cass slept for 20 hours a day for four days (or perhaps longer) straight until she fully recovered from fighting Lady Shiva.
That's not even going under the amount of food she consumes. This little detail was first showcased in #39 when Cass ate like she was freaking Goku.
This little bit of detail was brought back in #66 when she ordered THREE burgers (I'm assuming with everything on it) with three sides of fries and a BIG milk.
Amusingly, this detail was recently brought back in Nightwing #106 & #108 where she FEASTED on who knows how many pancakes.
Lastly, I feel this bit is worth mentioning as well from #47 with Doctor Lewis Friedman who started the theory on body language that David Cain made a frightening reality with Cass (shame he was never brought up again after this issue).
All this isn't even counting on the extremely LONG hours of shower time Cass picked up in the Gabrych run that even Willingham's Robin (which went on during this) teased (something again Batgirls kept up on).
So there you have it. The utter anomaly that is the body of one Cassandra Cain.

Neck of the Woods
Note; reader is alluded to having problems walking in that sometimes they can and sometimes they can't
Gn! Reader
Reader who invites Jason out to their neck of the woods for a hike. Nothing too strenuous for the vigilante as they're really just going to the nearby park. But with all the connected trails, it's a pretty good workout, all things considered.
To Jason, there's such a stark contrast between the parks in Gotham and this one. There's both less population and less walk-ability where Reader lives. In Gotham, even the parks are crowded. But here, there's barely anyone except the regular walkers.
He doesn't know how to feel about it. Relaxed in the sense that he feels like there's more room to breathe. But with how secluded the area is, he feels more on edge. Reader picks up on this, links their hands together. If it's too hot, only the pinkies.
Reader who quickly becomes confused when every walker they cross paths with starts to avoid them. Instead, speeding up their pace. Blatantly ignoring the greeting they give. Looking back at Jason, they realize he's taken to being their scary dog privilege.
Squared shoulders, straight mean mugging. Easily carrying Reader's bag that holds a few water bottles mixed with some juice packet, a pair of headphones, walking poles, and a hoodie if it gets cold/rains.
Seeing how tired they are afterwards, Jason helps them into the car. Glad that his travels made him have to use one of the bat-cars instead of his motorcycle. Speeding 20 miles over the speed limit even down the back roads.
The tracker on it makes the other bat siblings worry. 'What is Jason up to? Why is he in the middle of bumfuck nowhere?' Tim asks, confused as to why Bruce isn't furious, assuming Jason had stolen said car. 'He's with Reader, they're cute together,' comes Cassandra's response.
'I know you want to sleep, but let's get you showered and then we can go to bed,' His voice is low and sweet as he gently guides them to the bathroom. Sitting Reader on the counter while he goes to grab a change of clothes for the two of them.
'Lift your arms up for me, bub.' He instructs after undressing their lower half. Having messaged the muscles as he went. 'Thank you. Think you're gonna need the shower chair?' asking once he's removed their shirt. 'Can't you just hold me up?'
'I'll take that as a yes.' Jason circumvents the question because yes, he could hold him up with the amount of muscles he had but didn't want to hurt them. Knowing if their legs fully gave out, he could risk a dragging related injury.
With the chair set up, he picks them up, settling them down in it. Keeping the door open as he goes through their routine. The water cascades over the sleeves of his shirt. Not that he cares. 'You're all wet.'
'That I am, hun.' He remarks, patting them dry with a towel. Glad they're still talking to him. Pulling the sweatpants up their legs and a hoodie of his over their torso.
Picking them up into a bridal carry, lightly flopping them on the bed. Even with their fish legs, Jason doesn't treat them like they're made of glass. Aware that they'd been able to get through life by themselves just fine this far. But he'll always be there to try and make life a little easier for them.
'Get some sleep hun, I'll wake you up around dinner time.' Plugging in an electric blanket to place along the back of their knees with the duvet on top. Going to his side, Jason's quick to take his spot as the big spoon.
