Binah has hundreds of scars, some large like the familiar one in her torso and some small like the ones dotting her hands. but the one she keeps hidden is the one on her head, tucked under her hair. even with her jumbled memories, she can recall her head being ripped open, prodded and poked through while she was still alive and breathing and suffering.
it hurts. it hurts like being flayed, and sometimes she'll spend break hours gripping her head; silent, stoic agony.
but it slowly recedes when she feels a presence beside her, your gentle lips pressing a kiss to the scar, and the pain eventually fades as she allows herself to lean, just a little bit, against the warmth of your embrace.

Easter weekend!
Fun food and a horse show
The horse show did not really go the way I wanted but at least we looked good! My bf came which was lovely and he took video but unfortunately he’s clearly not used to videoing horses so he missed some jumps and it’s all far away, but it was mediocre at best so it’s fine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The jump standards were cute tho! Bunnies and butterflies. And Luna had a cute Easter bonnet and briefly wore my friends hat. I also made birds best cupcakes for the show too! I just wish that the little chocolate eggs weren’t so expensive (they were four dollars for a bag and I need two bags)

And then I made bunny pancakes and duchess potatoes for Easter Sunday. And this was Friday but this was a delicious tiger themed drink from a local Chinese place

Battalion Mobilisation Rotations
Hey folks, Arch here!
I've had a whole bunch of Worldbuilding rolling around in my head for a little while now, and it's about time I try and put it out there for you all.
This'll be part one in a whole 'series' of posts touching on some of the more... 'behind the scenes' aspects of the United Commonwealth Army. Basically, the sorta stuff which won't make itself too apparent in writing but which I've enjoyed making nonetheless! And there's one sentence that sums me up...

What Are They?
A "Mobilisation Rotation" refers to the 12 month cycles that the various Battalions of the United Commonwealth Army's Regular component go through as part of the modern service. They're broken up into three phases, namely 'Demobilised', 'Mobilising', and 'Ready', and different units progress between these phases in accordance with a service-wide timeline.
Why Are They A Thing?
War, and being constantly ready for it, is a difficult thing, and the UC Army has long recognised the toll it takes on the morale and effectiveness of soldiers and their units. In order to alleviate the strain the troops feel, units are shuffled in and out of 'readiness', splitting the hard work of keeping a minimum level of forces on hand at any time amongst a larger number of units.
What Do They Look Like
Tumblr media
Side Note: Spreadsheets are a complete fucking pain and I'd like to never touch one again.
Battalions, the primary functional and administrative 'building block' of the UCA, 'begin' their cycle with a two month long 'demobilisation' period. At this point, soldiers are put on leave to recover from their operational tour of duty, and are encouraged to look after their personal affairs as they wish within certain Army regulations. Note that, in most circumstances, soldiers' travel is limited only to ensure they can report back to their unit within three days of a summon in case of an emergency.
As their 'demob' comes to an end, Battalions are reconstituted. Once new personnel are brought in and promotions settled, the unit transitions into an intense period of training and preparation. Individual soldiers are requalified on their ability to fulfil their basic tasks, such as marksmanship and equipment handling, and training steadily advances upwards into Section, Platoon, and eventually Regimental level inter-unit cooperation, where applicable.
Once a Battalion has been certified as 'ready', it is then assigned to any of a number of potential commands, depending on its nature and the Army's wider operational needs. They may be assigned to overseas stations, or held in the 'Deployable Reserve' domestically to respond to emerging needs. Once their six months are up, the unit is returned to the UC and demobilised, and the cycle starts again.
Who's Involved
In addition to the Battalions themselves, three major commands play a significant role in this system: Service Corps, Military Districts, and Field Forces Command.
The Army consists of numerous Service Corps, which manage troops and units according to their specialisation and job. Such commands include the Corps of Artillery, the Corps of Engineers, the Army Medical Corps, and several others. Each of them manage the administrative records of their own soldiers and units, and establish and train them on their respective methods and doctrine under the 'mobilising' phase.
A key exception, however, applies to the UCA's Infantry and Cavalry. Outside of the Airborne Corps, Battalions of these two arms recruit locally, while more conventional SCs take in personnel from across the Commonwealth in their units. Thus, while the Corps of Infantry and Cavalry both construct and maintain their own training and doctrinal regimes, responsibility for a Battalion's 'paperwork' falls to the Military District.
The first two phases of a cycle primarily fall under the purview of one of the UC's numerous Military Districts, which are administrative commands overseeing the Army's infrastructure on Commonwealth soil. They manage garrisons and barracks, liaise between the Army and national civilian governments, and control the training grounds and installations within their geographical reach. In addition to managing the recruitment and administration of Infantry and Cavalry Battalions, their real work can be seen with their oversight of the reservists of the Territorial Guard. That, however, lies beyond the scope of this post.
Lastly, but most importantly, is Field Forces Command, one of the Army's four primary Operational Commands. FLDFORCOM has complete control over the UCA's operationally ready units, and oversees how the Army's strength is deployed in theatres across the 12 Worlds. Every Regiment, Division, Corps, Field Army, and Army Group falls under its authority, and at the direction of the Chief of the General Staff and the Executive Committee of the United Commonwealth it oversees the posture of the UC Army the worlds over.
