James had big plans for the house he and Regulus had just bought. It was small and unassuming with a black peaked roof and beige exterior. Regulus had chosen it, had demanded a simple house after years of opulence.

Regulus had said he wanted a small house full of love rather than a large one full of deceit, and it was such a James thing to say, that how could he possibly deny the request?

Not that James ever denied Regulus anything, anyway.

James wanted to build a shed and plant a garden and make a walkway out of pretty pavers. He wanted to make their builder-grade house a home, but more than that, he wanted to make it colorful. He wanted to strip away anything that was bland or plain or dark, he wanted to cover everything with reds and blues and greens, so every time Regulus walked in the door, he would know that his home was full of color.

His life, his future—they were fucking bright now.

So he got to work: bought gallons of paints and a handful of brushes and rollers and drop cloths. He painted and painted, ignoring the pain in his shoulders and wrists, because he needed to do this for his partner.

“James…” he heard suddenly. He swiveled around, flashing a wide, albeit sheepish smile at Regulus, overnight bag slung over his shoulder.

“You’re home!” James knew he must have looked a mess, with paint smears on his face and on the tips of his hair. His clothes were certainly trash now: the knees of his pants worn from painting so many baseboards, the bottom hem of his shirt stained with color from acting like a napkin for paint-wet fingers. James dropped the brush he was holding into the tray of paint on the floor, making his way to Regulus.

“Why is our house….rainbow?”

“It’s for you!” James beamed. “I wanted to take away all the darkness in here and leave you nothing but light.” James kissed his cheeks, his forehead, willing him to understand.

Their new home would never swallow him whole the way Grimmauld did.

“Oh,” Regulus replied softly, like the word was punched out of him on an exhale.

“Do you like it?”

“I love it,” Regulus said, finally kissing James back. “I love you.”

I could think of no better way to share the news than this!

So when I was 17, my cat went missing and I'd given up hope of ever seeing him again.

Until on Monday, 27th of May, 2024, my friend sent me a FB post asking 'isn't that your mother?' about the person named on the microchip.

Here he is! 16 years old, and found safe, twelve whole years after he went missing!

Yesterday (Tuesday the 28th of May, 2024) I went to the rescue that had him, and I reclaimed my boy, renaming him Artie! (He'd originally been called 'Cat' because my mother and I couldn't decide on a name)

He's home safe with me now, currently inhabiting my bathroom and purring up a storm every time someone goes in there!

I'll be doing slow introductions between him and my current cat to give them the best possible chance of living in harmony!

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)

At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.

Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

The manga industry, especially JUMP, needs to hurry up and do away with weekly scheduling for mangaka. There needs to better regulations put into place for their health and safety because this is pitiful. Two weeks - monthly updates should’ve already been the standard for the manga industry at this point. These money grabbers will only continue to put the lives of these artists at stake for the sake of capitalism unless some serious changes are implemented.

I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw or a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

reading and watching “classic” books and films is such an interesting experience because, before you get into them, when you only know them by name and maybe the vaguest plot outline, they’re intimidating and stuffy and up on a pedestal, but then you finally take the leap and check them out and realize that almost every story that’s achieved such a legendary level of popularity did so because something in its emotional core reached out and grabbed a lot of people by the throat and you are NOT immune.
