Do you think if the trolls all came back, like everything in the main comic did happen and they were alive again. Do you think Feferi would actually forgive Eridan? Or want to even be his friend after everything? I don't personally like the erisol and fefertasprite interactionâŠfelt rushedâŠ..so I just wanted to know your opinion if things were different! :)
Yeah, I think they would be! Feferi is one of the trolls who takes dying the least badly (relentless optimism) and Eridan does genuinely feel bad, which means a lot when it's Eridan. I think she really is genuine when she says she wants them to be friends and also that she's really not the type of person to hold a grudge, and like... death is SUPER cheap in Homestuck, it's really not the horrific, irredeemable, irreperable damage that it is IRL - and if you're talking about (Feferi) and (Eridan), then they're both dead (and irrelevent) now, so the score is kind of even.
In general, the fandom - I mean, people in general, really - tend to have difficulty divorcing themselves from other people. We tend to assume that the people and characters they like will hold similar opinions to themselves. This is how people who like Karkat and don't like Eridan can mentally gloss over or even block out their clear, close friendship, or how people who dislike Cronus can end up overlooking that Meenah actually takes his opinion seriously and unironically defends his wizard thing. Feferi really isn't mad at Eridan or upset about dying the way we probably would be, because she's friends with the horrorterrors, relentlessly cheerful, comfortable with death in general, and death is also just not really that big of a deal in this setting. "I'm really sorry about that, that was shitty of me" is honestly probably all the apology she needs, especially if they came back to life anyway.
#i dunno in general the fandom loves to blow stuff up#and make it all way way angstier than it needs to be or was even shown to be#by all accounts feferi takes dying really well#im sure shes still not STOKED to be eridan's friend again but out of all her faults#holding long unreasonable grudges isnt really one of them#(that's a kanaya thing actually)#eridan's always gonna be an annoying pest to her in large doses but i think she basically thinks of him as a friend#also eridan responds to problems overwhelmingly with Fight#so this idea that eridan will be forever mopey and angsty also doesnt ring true to his character#if anything i can see him becoming annoying again because now he won't stop fucking apologizing#like bro chill its fine already oh my god why is everyt)(ing suc)( a PRODUCTION wit)( you#because thats the last point too like#homestuck always returns to humor#hussie even says in the book commentary that homestuck is lighthearted and comedic at its core#that it keeps returning to that as a touchstone#even during its tensest moments like murderstuck theres just constant funnies and gags#so i just end up going kinda :/ when an interpretation is purely maudlin or cathartic#like its more homestuck when its funny and characters treating murder with the same gravitas as irl#not only doesnt make sense in universe where death is cheap - ESPECIALLY for trolls#but also just doesn't really feel very homestuck to me#but that is 100% personal taste so if you like that stuff by all means keep enjoying it lol#you just arent going to get uber angst from me u_u

Connecting dots tonight (didn't connect shit, I've connected them, etc) because of this post about item descriptions to do with Sampo I saw a few days ago and! I feel like there are so many interesting things that could be implied from this!! Because the recipe for the High-Tech Protective Gear is given to you by Bronya (before the IPC invaded Belobog!), who says this little interesting tidbit about it:
This is an item from before the Eternal Freeze, 700 years ago. Even to the rest of the universe, it would be SORELY outdated. It cannot be made in Belobog anymore due to the loss of entire eras. It is effectively useless; this recipe had to be somewhere gathering dust, kept around solely for archival purposes. There is no reason for Sampo to know about this item or have any idea how it works and yet. AND YET. He's just running around selling knock offs!!
He shouldn't even know how to make these, but the fact that he does means Sampo either
had the blueprints from off-world before he came to Belobog (most likely but also most boring answer)
broke into Qlipoth Fort and copied down the blueprints (completely plausible - he's possibly shown doing exactly that in his splash art)
found another copy out in the ruins of the old world (also completely plausible - Sampo is astoundingly resilient against both the Fragmentum and the cold, as noted by Lynx haha)
Meanwhile, the Inferior Protective Gear recipe comes from an NPC in the underground, and when she gives it to you, she talks about building robots and the robot fighting scene sorry about the quality I didn't have screenshots for her dialogue so I had to use wiki
Which makes me feel like it's safe to say that the inferior gear is mostly being used in the underground, especially by the vagrants and their robots for fights, because...well, who else would use it? Cocolia has made it illegal to explore too far into the Snow Plains, and besides, it's way too dangerous for most civilians even WITH gear. The Silvermane Guards are funded by official sources, they have no reason to rely on Sampo for armor. So it makes sense for an underground mechanic to know the recipe; there's probably not as much market for it up in the overworld.
And if you look at the descriptions, you can see why this probably wasn't something that could be made in Belobog anymore; it requires a charging system of some sort.
We know it's not a problem with the basic materials because all three ingredients can be found right in the administrative district. But the underground only has two of them; somehow, despite being in the planet's crust, and literally crawling with robots...there is no metal down there. It isn't found anywhere, sold by anyone, or dropped by anything. And metal just so happens to be the one ingredient Sampo replaces in his knock off version.
The Inferior Gear uses trash instead, something which, going by the words of that same mechanic, is MORE than abundant in the underground- any good quality parts are extremely difficult to come by down there.
Anyway, all his shadiness aside, I love the implication that Sampo is smart enough to be able to take this item that no one else on the planet probably knows anything about, and was able to figure out what he could replace, and how, and with what, in order to make it easily accessible to the people of the underground, even without access to overworld resources. Because his version DOES work! It literally gives you the exact same amount of defense boost as the IPC one!
Someone should absolutely still knock him around for it, though, world's most slappable face fr fjkdsjfdkjafk
#hsr sampo#hsr sampo koski#sampo koski#honkai star rail#hsr#belobog#he's such a slimeball fjklsdajfkld#I feel like there is something to be said though about the fact that if anyone in the underground is buying this shit armor off Sampo like.#it's either his armor or it's nothing. the overworld isn't exactly sending them a lot of protective gear.#And I'm sure they'd rather have cheap armor they can make and afford themselves than nothing at all.#I wonder if Wildfire would be one of his customers for this stuff or not?#like I think Sampo would be a lot more upfront with them if they were- he's not stupid enough to bite the hand that feeds him.#And Natasha is probably his most important client. We already know Sampo smuggles weapons and is her arms dealer.#It's canon that he brought Seele her scythe-#-and I wonder if it's coincidence that Natasha uses a giant weapon that looks similar to the Silvermane hand canons.#I could totally see Sampo trying to sell his armor to ring fighters to fix the matches in his favor though FJKDLSJAFDKLJ#we already know he bets on the fight club from his About Luka line and his dialogue from the Cyrille the Fool quests#so I'm sure he'd be gambling on the robot fights out by Svarog's encampment too haha#do you think they have penny bets for the kids for that kind of fight#crying imagining Hook tagging along and betting single credits on the fights alongside Sampo's much heftier bets#she still wins more than he does JKLDJSKLAJDS

Cheaply Starting Seeds
This is my fourth post in a series Iâll be making on how to increase biodiversity on a budget! Iâm not an expert--just an enthusiast--but I hope something you find here helps!Â
Having a high-quality seed-starting setup can feel like an ultimate but distant dream. An entire shelf--an entire room, even, filled with grow lights and plant trays in the optimal setup to make tons of plants? Tons of garden tools, each with a diverse and dedicated purpose? Thatâs just not an option for some of us. But that doesnât mean we canât get started at a low cost!
Seed Starting Set-Ups
Speaking from a somewhat biased Floridian perspective, Iâve had great success starting seeds outside! My usual set-up is on a rarely-used outdoor patio table thatâs moved to a sunny spot in the yard, but Iâve even grown seeds in solo cups on sidewalks, or directly in the ground, with great results!Â
Some seeds grow best when they go through a cold period before germinating, while other seeds arenât affected much by it and just wait for warm weather. As such, a viable option is to sow your seeds in late fall, let winter roll by, and wait until the seeds sprout on their own come spring! I would try and mark off where you planted said seeds, so you donât lose track of them and accidentally dig them up.
Alternatively, if you want to get started while it's cold outside, a popular option I've seen is to grow in milk jugs! There's a lot of different ways to do it--everyone has their preference--but if you're already drinking things like milk or juice or sweet tea, and you're going to get jugs at some point in time--why not use them for gardening?
An easy way to clear up a section of lawn to create open gardening space is by using a sheet mulching or lasagna gardening method (though I like to call it the Cardboard Snuff-Out). Place cardboard or newspaper down in fall/winter to mark out where you want to garden. Layer compostable materials like grass clippings and wood chips on top of it, or potting soil/bagged compost. Itâll decompose over Winter into an organically rich bed thatâll have killed the grass and weeds underneath it. You donât have to break out any tools and sweat over it come spring, and the cardboard itself will slowly decompose as well!
Though it's often recommended to plant things directly into the ground to decrease watering needs and increase nutritional independence, thereâs plenty of reasons you may not be able to. Whether youâre renting, living in a place without a yard, or even just canât or donât want to break ground in a yard, you can still help biodiversity by growing in pots. Some plants have rather extensive root systems and arenât well suited for pots, but there are still plenty of options available for plants thatâll boost biodiversity, be beautiful to look at, and grow just fine in pots! A recommendation is to get a larger pot, if youâre able, as itâll hold onto more water and need watering less often. Not only are potted plants great for providing food for insects, but they can be shelter for other creatures too--thereâs been a good few times Iâve moved a pot and found a frog or toad living underneath it.
If you donât have room for pots on the ground, you could consider using hanging pots or window boxes! These can be great and easily-maintained options to provide food and habitat for insects and birds in an urban living situation like apartments or townhouses, but they can also be a fun way to add even more habitat to an already-robust home garden. You can even make an entire mini habitat in a window box or pot! I can personally say Iâve seen tons of pollinators visit my yearly hanging basket garden that consists of about five to seven plants, and Iâve always loved the idea of having a window box for blooms right out my window. Just make sure that itâs safe--make sure theyâre securely fixed, and that whatever theyâre hanging from can handle their weight when theyâre freshly watered and loaded with plants.Â
If you want to start indoors, you donât necessarily need grow lights or heat mats (though it will make things a bit easier.) Iâve successfully grown milkweed, peppers, tomatoes, zucchinis, and even sprouted lemon seeds in college dorm rooms, and kept tomato and pepper plants in a dorm room on a sunny windowsill. For the most part, you need a nice and sunny window, some kind of container, and a source of heat (in my case, I used anything from a space heater to the warmth of my laptop running nearby. If you donât have any sunny windows, or enough windowsill space to start plants on, its possible to obtain cheaper grow lights. One year, my mom bought me some gooseneck grow lights that could clip onto things for cheap off of Amazon. (Fair warning, though, they did light up my entire room in purple. I lived alone that year (covid year, my roomies bailed), so it was fine, but it was kind of trippy,)
Another year, when I was in an apartment on my own, I bought a grow light modeled like a normal light bulb from the lightbulb aisle in Loweâs and put it in my desk lamp. Growing seeds indoors can make them grow fast and leggy, so itâll help if you can keep a desk fan on them so they focus on growing strong instead of tall and fast.
If youâre fortunate enough to have a friend with a nice set up, you could see if theyâre willing to let you borrow some of their space to start your own plants as well! My set-up in college was by no means High Class, but I was still more than willing to start seeds for my friends who asked!
Containers for Seed Starting
So now that weâve talked starting seeds indoors and out, we need to address what to start them in. Itâs important that whatever youâre using has drainage holes, and be large enough to support your plant (starting something like milkweed or a squash in a tiny little pot wonât yield great results). Fortunately, there are options here!
If youâre looking to buy pots, Dollar Tree will sell some small plastic pots for cheap in the spring! Theyâre kind of thin, and wonât last forever, but theyâre great for a few uses and donât cost a lot of money. Something thatâs a bit more pricey but are longer-lasting, in my experience, are the Burpee SuperSeed trays. They come in different sizes, but Iâm fond of the 16-cell trays--they have silicone bottoms and are made of a nice solid plastic with a tray to hold water, so they hold up for a long time and are easy to clean and reuse!
Burpee seed tray, my beloved.
Whatâs better than a cheap pot? Free ones, and thereâs plenty of options there! Iâve seen people use toilet paper or paper towel rolls as pots by folding the bottoms in and have it work well for them! I think this method would work best if you had some kind of tray to keep them moist, because mine dried out fast last time I tried this method. Iâve also seen people make pots out of newspaper with a few different methods, and the people who use this method love it--apparently, the roots pass through the paper easier and it decomposes faster when buried, so you can just transplant the whole pot and avoid any kind of transplanting shock. If you donât have any newspaper on hand, you can likely ask your friends or neighbors!Â
Iâve gotten lots of mileage from reusing old containers by poking a few holes in the bottom with knives or scissors--just be careful while youâre doing it! I, personally, am more likely to use an already-used solo cup for it--theyâre a nice size, so they hold a good amount of soil and moisture and give the seedling a good amount of root space. I tend to write the plant information on the side of the cup in sharpie marker, or on an index card in pen. Iâve also heard of people making use of egg cartons, fruit containers, yogurt cups, milk cartons, soda bottles--the more you start thinking about what you could easily poke a hole in, the more options start coming around!
This photo may be from 2018, but I'll still regularly reuse cups like this! They're also great for cuttings!
As you start planning to move your seedlings into the ground and preparing planting sites, youâll likely need a few tools to do it! How do you get these? You may be able to borrow some tools from a neighbor! As long as you make sure to return them in good condition, depending on how friendly your neighbors are, they might be totally fine with you borrowing their tools for awhile. If you donât want to take that route, there may be a tool library you can borrow from, or a mutual aid group that can loan you tools for awhile. Either way, borrowing tools is cheaper than buying them--though, if you do have to buy tools, cheap hand-tools from Walmart or the dollar store work just fine. Theyâll even last a good while if theyâre taken care of when not in use! I've even seen places like Ross sell some tools and pots in spring!
Spotted in a Walmart gardening section by the registers, 2023.
Of course, your mileage may vary with these. I genuinely cannot think of the last time my house got a newspaper, and as I've mentioned I don't have to worry about snow. Similarly, maybe you don't use plastic cups when you can help it, or don't have a particular affinity for eggs and yogurt. Maybe there isn't a tool library in your area--I sure don't know if there is in mine--but it could still be worth poking around and asking a neighbor!
That's the end of this post! My next post is gonna be about ways to support your plants for cheap--we're gonna be talking compost, mulch, and trellises. Until then, I hope this advice was helpful! Feel free to reply with any questions, your success stories, or anything you think I may have forgotten to add in!
#biodiversity#solarpunk#gardening#outdoor gardening#growing from seed#budget gardening#cheap gardening#indoor gardening#ani rambles#out of queue#the biodiversity saga#I can make a post later about how I prepare solo cups for being used as pots if yall want#I've found its safest to just use a nice pair of scissors and keep the cup upside-down on the table while I cut into the bottom#and when i say 'take care of the tools when not in use' i mean 'dont be me and leave a cheap shovel from dollar tree out in the rain'#it had a wooden handle and it basically just like. rotted. fell apart in my hand when I picked it up#generally keeping tools in the garage will also help them not rust as fast too#but if you're gonna leave them outside at least put them in shade#the number of times i have lost feeling in my hands because i picked up a hoe that was laying in the sun and fuckin SCALED my palms#its not fun. dont do it. maybe its a Floridian problem but still#if you read all these tags. uh. shovel emoji. idk. sorry dude.

Shadows of Fear: At Occupier's Risk (1.3, Thames, 1971)
"I happened to look into one of the other rooms and there were dust sheets."
"If there were other guests, you would have seen them."
"I once lived in a flat for six months and never saw anyone in the house. Heard them, yes, but never saw them."
"No. There's no one else here."
"Good."
#shadows of fear#at occupier's risk#1971#single play#horror tv#thames#classic tv#richard harris#peter duguid#gemma jones#annette crosbie#anthony bate#tom chadbon#john swindells#the best of the plays so far; feels like a notable upswing in qualityâ tho to be clear this is still a very visibly cheap production#all rickety sets and awful CSO backgrounds to suggest people are outdoors. but the get here is that cast: three peerless actors in their#prime. Jones and Crosbie were already making names for themselves but would go onto much bigger and better#Bate is one of my favourite actors and really deserved to be a bigger nameâ he was never less than phenomenal#the script is a winner hereâ too. it's much more consciously theatrical than the previous twoâ in that slightly unnatural way that much#tv drama of the 60s and 70s was (an acquired taste i suspectâ but as a lover of british theatre of the mid 20th century suffice to say im a#fan). it's an intelligently writtenâ and mischievously obscured play; difficult (imo) to guess exactly where it's going but easy to be#misled by some ever so helpful red herrings and delicately worked misdirection. the style allows for some shamelessly wordy scenes#between some seriously great actorsâ tooâ in which much is said but even more left unsaid or just implied (rightly or wrongly as it turns#out). yes a very decent old potboiler of an old spooky tale and i shouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be one of the most memorable#tho that saidâ i didn't remember it really at all from watching this series all those years ago...

also guys the festival is still six months away, i promise u tickets are not gonna be sold out this soon. they're just trying to create panic buying by increasing the prices, right now it's at p4, at best it's gonna to p6! tickets for lolla berlin were available even until the last day. so u can always plan accordingly and book tickets!
#get on payment plans and stuff i know they had like lazypay/amazon pay/simpl pay which will at least help spread the cost#i know shelling out 10k in one go can be gruesome but when you're paying like 2k a month it still feels manageable#if u are traveling from other cities and want to look at cheap stays i would 100% recommend zostel or other similar hostels!

kinda frustrating how we've spent the last few months acknowledging how a lot of well intentioned but guilt trippy social justice posts are like specifically designed to worm into ocd ppls brains and then now every single post abt palestine is "i dont care how bad your mental health is, i dont care how bad looking at all this makes you feel, if you don't read every single post you see on this topic in full you are a horrible person and directly contributing to their deaths. 'waaaah my mental health' well at least youre not being bombed, did you think about that??" and its like. i absolutely get where youre coming from but you dont get to complain that guilt tripping is bad then turn around and use it anyways because you think the cause youre using it for is worthwhile. like. everyone thinks the cause theyre using it for is worthwhile, thats why theyre using it. but its still a shit way to do it
#like when you make a tumblr post to your tumblr blog youre not guilt tripping people who disagree with you#youre guilt tripping your followers who if theyre still following you probably already agree with what youre saying#and esp on a topic with so much brutality involved like. yeah OBVIOUSLY theres people who have to look away#like. yall know a bunch of these posts and articles and videos show graphic injuries in them right?#like i physically cant watch news videos abt this bc i will spend days with my brain making me imagine#peoples deaths in graphic detail specifically because it knows that will upset me. and i would prefer not to do that#in fact me doing that helps palestinians exactly as much as finishing my brussel sprouts helps starving kids#by which i mean none. its just a cheap guilt trip to get you to do something you don't want to#which when it's brussel sprouts thats whatever but when its 'deliberately expose yourself to extremely triggering#things otherwise youre a bad person'. not so much#idk i feel like maybe its due to ppl feeling. agitated abt not being able to do anything abt it#like the government isnt listening and we're a world away so physically /all/ we can do really is sit and watch#so i can understand a) wanting to find someone to lash out at to alleviate that feeling#like if you cant stop the actual problem at the very least you can shout down the people supporting it right?#and b) seeing 'not watching' or even just 'not watching as closely as i am' as a transgression#bc well its all we can do so if youre not even doing that you must be bad#and its like. i really do get it. but the whole world is watching right nowâ like this is THE big news thing happening rn#so a few people choosing to avoid to subject will not make a single iota of difference#idk. i guess what im saying is if youre feeling the urge to yell at someone for not looking close enough#just donate some money to a support fund instead itll do a lot more
