VOULEZ-VOUS! - 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐇 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐌𝐒𝐎𝐍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WARNINGS: reader singer, a silly little thing made with love, english is not my first language!
It was a sunny morning in London, and Y/n and Leah Williamson's home was filled with an energy only a passionate singer could bring. Y/n, dressed in a sparkling outfit reminiscent of ABBA's iconic style, was bouncing around the room with a microphone in hand, belting out every note of "Voulez-Vous" with a passion that could ignite any stage.
"People everywhere, a sense of expectation hanging in the air!" Y/n sang, spinning in the middle of the room and dramatically pointing at Leah, who was sitting on the couch with her legs crossed, trying to read a book.
Leah, in her typical calm demeanor, sighed deeply and slowly closed her book. It was obvious her patience was wearing thin. She loved Y/n, but her love for ABBA was reaching its limit.
"Y/n..." Leah began in a calm but firm tone. "Yes, my love?" Y/n replied, still dancing as if she were at a live show. "Don't you think you've sung that song enough for today?"
Y/n stopped in the middle of a dramatic step, looking at Leah with eyes that sparkled with pure disbelief.
"Enough? Leah, it's Voulez-Vous! How can I stop when the spirit of the music lives within me?"
Leah rubbed her temples, trying to find the right words.
"Y/n, I love you and I support everything you do, but you've sung that song... like, ten times. Just today. I'm starting to dream about it." "That's great! It means you're feeling the magic of ABBA!"
Leah laughed humorlessly, throwing the book aside.
"No, it means I can't stand to hear 'Voulez-Vous' one more time. I was starting to like ABBA because of you, but now..."
Y/n put her hand on her heart, as if Leah had just stabbed a knife there.
"Are you saying I'm ruining ABBA for you? How is that possible? They're pure perfection, and I'm just spreading that perfection around the world!"
Leah stood up, walking over to Y/n, who was still holding the microphone like a weapon of defense.
"I don't want to ruin your passion, really. But... maybe you could sing something else? Anything else. Please."
Y/n narrowed her eyes, tilting her head dramatically.
"Are you suggesting I betray ABBA?" "No, I'm suggesting you give me a break. Just a break, Y/n. I need peace. I beg you."
Silence hung between the two for a moment, as S/n pondered. Finally, she lowered the microphone and sighed deeply.
"Alright, Leah. I won't sing ABBA... for now. But only because I love you."
Leah smiled, pulling Y/n into a tight hug.
"Thank you. And I love you too. Even when you're driving me crazy with Voulez-Vous."
Y/n laughed against Leah's shoulder but soon pulled away, raising an eyebrow with a mischievous smile.
"What if I sing Dancing Queen? It's softer." "Y/n!"
The two burst into laughter, with Leah shaking her head as Y/n took an exaggerated bow in the middle of the room. Despite their differences, that chaos was part of what made their relationship so unique. And Leah knew, deep down, that no matter how many times she heard ABBA, she could never stop loving Y/n... even if it was with earplugs.

No, the flannel and the wolf cut don't make you look like Will Graham. I see a lot of people trying to emulate Will's style or hair but of course it doesn't satisfy them because they're not fully getting what they actually wanted, which is the Will VIBE. So here's a guide, for you, because I love you, and fashion and aesthetics and the codes of physical appearance.
How to Give Will Graham
(oh and do check out my vibe analysis where we go into the spiritual code of Will Graham using astrology and numerology).
Now, I'm sure you didn't aim to give "plaid and kaki" vibes, right? Maybe you did, in that case you can move along. But if not, you were aiming for Will by just copying his clothes, which would never work because he doesn't give plaid and kaki guy, he gives sexy confident motherfucker with a gun who isolates himself because he thinks he's too cool but also because he is a menace and has no patience for people.
Tumblr media
In other, better lol, words, he has the codes of disinterested academia. I made that up. But it's accurate.
It's the code of intellectuality but without the academic flair of formality.
Sam Winchester has almost the exact same wardrobe yet the vibes are different (the character arc is the same, interestingly enough), Sam is softer and kinder, and Will is more fuck everybody get out of my sidewalk vibes.
So there's an arrogance to Will. He isn't interested in what most are, he thinks most things are boring. And he's also hiding his true self, which comes out a bit more in Season 2 when he have the Slut Fashion Transition, which is excellent. Translating that to his style, you have outfits that carry a bit of an edge, although concealed to avoid exposure, and lack of attention to detail. So Will would not care to choose patterns because that is too much detail, or belts, or too many layers. His mind is busy with other things, he cannot focus on styling details.
So you can evoke the vibe without copying his exact outfits. As long as it has the elements of a put together but simplistic academic "southern" style. Which is also known as rugged americana.

Minghao + suggestive prompt 8 please. Love your writing style, thankyouu ♡
hi anon, happy that you're loving the drabbles :) thank you for requesting! 💜 hopefully you will like it!
suggestive prompt: 'don't give me that look.'
'this would look so good on you!' minghao thrusted up several dresses in your hands. 'now go and change.'
'what about you?' you asked, unsure. first time shopping with your boyfriend made you nervous. 'go and check men section while i'm changing.'
minghao shook his head, sending you a reassuring smile. 'it's okay, let's first finish with you.'
you nod, going to the changing rooms with bunch of clothes in your hands. it'd be hard to call you a fashion enthusiast, but shopping with minghao sounded like such an exciting idea that you agreed immediately and you could see why - while you went and chose clothes from your usual style, minghao picked something completely different on which you'd never look on your own. wanting to appease to him, you changed first into one of the dresses of his choice, not recognizing yourself in the mirror. you never went for more open things in general, not out of modesty but more of them not being your style, but the slit on the leg of this dress made you look... dare you say, sexy. the 'i did a double take' kind of beautiful. it felt good - you smiled, albeit a bit out of your element and walked out to patiently waiting minghao. he was on his phone but at the sound of footsteps he looked up and froze with his jaw open at the sight of you.
'what do you think?' you asked, trying to sound more flirty than insecure. yes, you two are together but you still had hard time believing in it. 'i think it's alright.'
minghao swallowed. 'it's not alright,' he said strongly, coming up closer. 'it's gorgeous, my dear. you are utterly gorgeous.'
minghao always complimented you left and right but this one sounded a bit different. and it had a lot to do with his gaze, with the way his eyes roamed on every single inch of your body with a hunger that you never saw before. it made you feel inferior, made you cock your hip a bit to the side, accentuating your waist. minghao's eyes instantly snapped there, intense. this gaze of his started fire in your chest and you gulped, turning away. 'don't give me that look,' you muttered shyly, taking one step back.
'what look?' minghao asked, smirking at the way you bit your lower lip. he chuckled, deciding not to tease you anymore. 'it's hard not to, love. especially when you look like that. but i'll try, yeah? go and try another dress.'
you didn't want to try another dress. you wanted to go somewhere, where minghao could pull you close and whisper everything what he thinks right in your ear, making you moan. minghao could read that in your gaze and before you turned around, he grabbed your wrist: 'or not. go and change, grab this dress and another too - i'll buy them and we're going home, love.'
now that sounded like a good plan you'd gladly follow.

BAND AUS AND MUSIC MY BREAD AND BUTTER. HERE ARE SOME IDEAS:
- tomura is defo a lead singer
- toga, at first, is skilled in being a keyboardist/pianist... but she enjoys singing A LOT more
^ regular singing BUT ALSO... hear me out... scream singing too bc her in s7... 😁😁😁
- not really emo, but i feel like they have an a lot like birds esc style in their singing styles. tomura fits kurt and toga fits cory lockwood (ex: orange time machines care by allb)
-since toga wouldn't be their keyboardist though, perhaps... compress on keyboard.
^ he gives the silliest ideas for songs that just WORK. think a random slow jazz part in a song. he has to write that part tho, but toga, twice, and magne are all super into it.
^ (ex: "doing the same things and expecting different results" by hail the sun @ 1:56)
^ dabi, tomura are against it at first, and spinner is a little unsure abt it. but when the song is finished, they like it. begrudgingly for dabi
- dabi... he gives me bassist vibes. idk why, but he also does backing vocals occasionally. i think he'd specifically sound like the part in again by sufferer (2:35)
^ also totally gives me vibes that he knows how to play violin or something, only because endeavor pressured him into playing in orchestra in school
^ definitely joined the band and learned how to play bass JUST to piss him off, ended up liking it a lot
-spinner on lead guitarist and magne is an additional guitarist (most bands usually have 2 reg guitarists and 1 bassist)
- TWICE ON DRUMS. drumming takes strength and stamina, which i feel like he has and also just Gives Off drummer vibes to me
^ throws his drumsticks to the crowd for ppl to have LOL, gives broken cymbals to em too
additional ideas + other villains:
- tomura is passionate about music, and his dad knows afo who owns a record label 🤢 they sign to his label it SUCKS.
- they meet giran and kurogiri there. kurogiri is their manager, giran is their producer and helps scout out band members for tomura's band
^ they teach tomura how to book shows, so they don't have to spend the extra money to order to hire a booking manager
- muscular was their drummer for a short time (afo assigned him the role), but his attitude and behavior towards the band caused him to be kicked out
^ because of this, twice is apart of their touring crew and helps them set up on stage since muscular is the drummer. but occasionally he takes over if they need him to
^ kurogiri had to go to afo and explain that muscular not being kicked out would hurt the band, AND his business. thats why he agreed to muscular being kicked out
other villains + their bands:
- stain is also in a band... he's a singer that can drum too. he drums and sings. but i think his style is definitely more like zeta's (venezuelan rock band). idk who his bandmates would be tho sorgy
^ inspires toga/dabi/spinner/whoever else to actually pursue music.
- both bands tour together, with the lov as openers for stain's band! stain and tomura don't get along, but fans love when they tour together.
^ they would both hate overhaul's band though if he had one, thats the only time they bond 😭
- the shie hassaikai hypothetical band is that they have aesthetic perfection or iamx vibes...
- overhaul is their lead singer, chrono is on keyboard/synth and setsuno is a guitarist, hojo is a bassist, and rappa is their drummer
- tengai is their manager briefly, but i think it'd be funny is they signed under afo's label and forces them to have lady nagant as their manager 😭 so tengai becomes their booking agent
^ she gets along with them though. somewhat.
- if we wanna get even MORE specific abt villain bands... the meta liberation army's having thank you scientist vibes. they have a jazz/prog-rock style
- the only ideas i got for them though is curious on violin, skeptic and geten on electric guitar, trumpet on... trumpet LOL. redestro as bassist and singer, tokoname (slidin go) on drums, and sanctum on sax
^ i had to research the mla and the band to see what instruments they played and would fit 😭😭😭
anyways thats all i got, sorry this got long. i go nutso boingo for music/bands 😁
The League of Villains should've just been a band. They would've made such banger emo music.

i also think that honestly dropout's treatment of tme trans ppl is... well. idk the amount of casual misgendering to the way a lot of them are styled/prompted by showrunners feels very "progressive cis friend that you have to avoid making Uncomfortable" of them, to the point that i wouldn't be surprised if they came out and said they don't see the difference between trans ppl and drag personas. not to detract from their obvious issues with what feels to be avoiding guesting/hiring transfems (so few of them in the UCB/LA pool of comedians? i doubt it) and casual transmisogyny but it isn't a surprise when the few transmasc/nb actors are kinda just treated like Quirky Dyke Lite.
that’s really sad and disappointing to hear too. ugh, i’m sorry, i hadn’t seen any of that but it doesn’t surprise me.

Im sure you have noticed many radfems talk of how men will use their spouse/partner as basically a second mother, having her do all the chores, the emotional labour, the organisation, etc. And I agree with this take.
But can we talk about how a lot of women, especially trad adjacent ones, also see their male partner as almost a parental figure. The amount of times i’ve seen women use different versions of “I just want a man that can think for me” is too many to count at this point. And it’s common. It’s seen in so much romance media, where the man takes control of everything, all the big decisions. It’s become a whole trope in heterosexual romance books and stories, of a rich man with control issues who sweeps some woman off her feet and makes it so she basically just disappears in his embrace.
This is gonna sound super harsh, but please know it isn’t meant as a critique of them as much as something i’ve noticed. I really do believe a lot of women who crave old school gender roles are very lazy, “useless”(to themselves) people who don’t want to amount to anything in life. The idea of struggle and hardship, heck, even just working TOWARDS something, it scares them so much they would rather be shapeless blobs controlled by someone else. That’s why they fetishize that traditional life style for women. Obviously WE know the women of that time and current time too in those types of homes aren’t just sitting around all day doing nothing, but I really do think a lot of women use it as an escapism fantasy from life.
The way a lot of them describe their sexual fantasies is similar, it’s always what is done to them, like they aren’t actually active participants, like they don’t actually have to make any choices.
I think the reason a lot of men crave a parental figure partner vs the reason a lot of women crave one is very different but they seem to be extremely common nonetheless. And with women I also know it’s a very complex issue of both society telling us our worth, the fact that women nowadays even as the more educated demographic STILL do more housework and emotional labour in relationships, capitalism being horrifyingly exhausting to live under, I could go on. But the point is, I think certain women crave a life of no consequences so that whole “i’m just a girl” and “he thinks for me, he makes the choices” mentality thats unfortunately had a huge uptick in popularity in recent years, I do think it’s women craving a parental figure as a partner. Not to say it’s anything linked to incest, i’m not trying to make freudian connections here, but I think the role of a parent is to take responsibility for the child and they crave that floating consequence free existence of a child.
I dunno, is what I’m saying completely deranged? Let me know.
Anon, I'm gonna try to be respectful and hold your hand when I say this... YOU'RE RIGHT! Thought I was gonna get condescending on your ass, huh? 😎🤪
Firstly, don't undercut your words with "I dunno." You made a completely logical point and casually explained yourself so eloquently I wouldn't be surprised if English wasn't your first language.
Secondly! I have seen this too! This weird, "take care of me" emphasis from both sides of the camp. Is it laziness? I wouldn't cast that aside for a second. But I think it's also this strange reaction to the present world. At least in the U.S., the economy is shit and people kind of already know that shit is just going to be hard, no matter what. And as humans, we have a weird tendency to swing the pendulum completely to the left or the right. So our reaction to very real, economic hardship that requires frequent "grinding" is to desire a complete release of the wheel, and to have someone else handle the hard stuff.
For some reason, according to social media, you either need to be grindset girl boss or a trad trophy wife which is...yeah. But I don't doubt your point being more of a reason for this. It's bizarre, and you're not crazy.

Why do we find it okay as artists to redo "the greats" arts, to make 1:1 of them, to use them as practice, to refference them in our own works,
But then if you did the same with a small artist's work, you're suddenly an art theif, a cheater, a liar, a terrible person??
Why is it acceptable for me to make fanart of any anime character I so please, but if I come across someone's OCs online I'm expected to ask their concent if I wanna make fanart?
Small artists and "the greats" are the same, we're all just artists.
I genuinly don't understand it. If I want to paint a 1:1 of The desperate Man (Gustave Courbet), or if I wanna make a thousand fanarts of Deadpool that's fully okay, but if I even think of doing that with a small artist, it's suddenly one of the worst treasons I could have ever commited on art and I get stripped of my title of artist??
That's the thing I hate the most of the art community too, you're expected to know from the beginning all these sets of "rules" and are never given an explanation to them
Like, I remember getting fucking torn to shreads on instagram once, when I was fucking 11-12 years old, because I found a drawing I liked on google, decided to redraw it in the exact style with different colors for the characters, like?? Sorry, I am a *child* who doesn't know shit about the internet and tried to do something I thought was nice and neat???
And the worst part is, deppending where your art lands? Some artists will tell you it's okay, there's no rules to art, do as you want!
And others will send you death threats for so much as existing bruh.
To me personally, I fall in the category of art has one rule; don't claim another person's work as your own. Don't just screenshot someone's art, post it and say you made it.
(Obv with the new age, don't use A.I., but that'll never be art so.. 💀)
For everything else, there are no rules. Trace, copy, make a 1:1, build upon pre-existing works, draw someone's OCs, share your own OCs, inspire yourself of different works and mediums, do as you wish, share what you want, art is not something to be gatekept, it's the most human thing there is. Music, drawing, painting, writing, feeling inspired, Creating. it all comes to us naturally as humans. We all love beauty and creating it. Let's not stop eachother from experiencing the beauty of creation. ♡
Also, never try to ruin someone else's work or tear them down, but that mostly applies to everything in life, not art specifically..
Lets build a beautiful community together and nurture eachother's talents with love and appreciation ♡
Feel free to reblog & add any tags to this! I tried to tag as many art forms / communities as I could think right now ♡

I'M HERE I'M A PODCAST ENJOYER!!!
(tldr at the end because this is kinda long)
I should mention that there are also unused versions of the TSON cover made by the same artist (hauntedfaun) that show Noone having long black hair and a white gown. Though I think most people in the fandom (myself included) don't really like that look as it feels a bit too similar to what we've seen in previous LN designs (Six and RK for example). It's obvious though that they made her hair way shorter in the final design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So basically, don't feel bad if your version of Noone isn't accurate to what's shown on the cover, since most of the other fanmade Noone designs that I've seen don't really follow it anyway. My version (seen below and here) is actually similar to yours in a lot of ways, except I envision her having reddish hair and freckles - but there are other interpretations, like her having brown hair or blonde hair and different styles of clothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for when TSON could take place, we can only kind of guess using context clues seen in the rest of the series. In the preview for the new comic we do get a glimpse of the counties having some blend of modern skyscrapers and gothic architecture, but nothing that really pins down a time period.
Tumblr media
That being said, a lot of the technology in the LN games does seem to come from the mid-late 20th century, specifically things like heart monitors, subway systems, electric fences, big blocky CCTV monitors, etc. And in TSON it's implied that Otto records everything on a modern tape recorder, while with his dream machine the noises it makes always made me think it was hooked up to some larger old-fashioned computer cabinet (think of an old NASA supercomputer).
Taking all that into account, I imagine what we see in the Counties likely takes place between the mid-1960's and early 1970's, since that would be modern enough for the buildings and tech mentioned above, but also vintage enough for the stuff we see in LN2 like black-and-white TV or the style of hair and clothing on the Viewers to still be common. Although, this is all assuming the Counties is supposed to be OUR world and not just the fictional LN equivalent of the real world.
tldr: You can pretty much draw Noone however you like since there doesn't really seem to be an "official" design for her between the official artist or the fanartists. Also TSON likely takes place in the mid-60s/early-70s based on the buildings and technology seen in the wider LN series.

Noone!
So, recently, I listened to the Sounds of Nightmares podcast (a little late, I know, but still better than never) and I have become obsessed.
(P.s. If you're wondering what the scrawls read, I was just speculating what hair-do Noone carries. In the end, I do think they're pigtails but I drew her with short hair because it's recognisable.)
Also side note, when do you guys think the podcast is set?
-The modern-day or perhaps sometime during the 1900s...

You've criticised nationalism a lot recently — don't worry, I'm not going to start insulting you or anyone, but could you tell me what your definition thereof is? Because in conversations with other people I have realised not everyone actually thinks it's the same thing (e.g. my mother seems to consider it the same as patriotism, ergo "being proud/glad to be part of your people group" — I doubt this is your definition, but as an example of how far-flung these may be)
i mean. i'd say a few things to this. one, uh. i realize this is annoying but. discourse objects do not have definitions--or rather, they may have definitions which are useful guides to how people use the word, but what discourse objects actually are is constructed by usage, and so will vary depending on how different users of those concepts divide the semantic field, and even depending on the context in which they are used. so, like, be aware of that pitfall
and having laid down that marker, i would then go on to say i don't think nationalism is strongly differentiated from patriotism, either in terms of how it's usually defined or how it's used in practice. i think patriotism is often used as, like. a synonym for a lighter, fluffier form of nationalism. i don't find compelling the idea that patriotism is inherently a virtue. and i think a lot of manifestations of patriotism are also manifestations of nationalism. like the dictionary definition of nationalism is probably going to be something like "preference for one's own nation and its interests especially vs other nations and their interests" and i think that covers a lot of expressions of patriotism, too.
indulging our tribalistic affinity for Us vs Them thinking is cute when it's something that doesn't matter at all, like sports, or which way the toilet paper faces, but i think as a style of thinking it ought to be resisted strongly when it comes to politics. the relevant virtue ought to be solidarity and humanistic feelings that encompass as many people as possible--ideally the whole human race--and not a sufficiently nice form of political or ethnic chauvanism

First don’t think I’m a hater. You’re not a Paige stan so I believe you’ll be reasonable when reading this. So far Paige has not lived up to the hype and I don’t see it happening. I worry if she’ll even make it far in the W. I won’t say her name but she’s not going to have a season like her. Paige should’ve went to the W last season. She was better last season. I doubt she’ll even make it Top 3 in the draft. Sarah is outshining her and it looks like she’s trying but she’s having a bad season like Kiki.
yeah i'm not a paige stan in terms of thirsting over her and stuff, but i am a paige basketball fan. that is why i started following her in hs.
i am interested in what you would consider being her "living up too the hype". i'm assuming that this means she does not put up cc or juju numbers. this goes back to people who think that stats = worth in basketball nowadays. you see a lot of people say that cc should've won over paige, because she had higher numbers. a lot of that doesn't take into account a. efficiency and b. the different style of play at uconn vs iowa. uconn has always played heavy ball movement. they want everyone on the team getting involved and getting assists. they also value minimal turnovers and high fg%. there are a lot of things you see in a game that highlights and boxscores don't tell you. anyone with real ball knowledge can see how paige runs a basketball court.
now to address she was better last year and that sarah is outshining her. she had to play insanely heavy minutes last year because of uconn's injuries. she also had to pf, because one of the only healthy and experienced players was nika, another pg. nika rarely scores, so paige was in a position where she had to take that role on more, especially with two freshmen in the starting lineup. sarah is lookign fantastic and i love how quickly she's flourishing, but she is in a much more comfortable situation. watch any game so far this season and it is obvious how quickly this team falls apart when paige isn't on the floor (their biggest issue which is why geno is trying to prep them for next year).
why did she comeback? well she played two and a half seasons at the college she's been dreaming of going to her whole life. she wants to win natty, but also it is her loyalty to geno and how little she has actually been able to play for him. even by leaving after this year, she still didn't play a whole four years. another thing she probably took into consideration is that she played almost 40 games for the first time in two years. not only that but playing 40 minutes each game, so to go from that into a new, harder league where she would've likely been drafted to a bad team where she would've again played heavy minutes and also likely a team that does not have as good of trainers and medical resources for rehab and preventing another injury.
there's about nothing she can do this season that would make her drop from that number one spot. her versatility, marketability, and overall play puts her above any other candidates.

how do you think they are going to go about the story telling for tvl
i know it won’t be a wwdits style but it is a funny thought
I am curious myself. It's brought surprise and wonder, and parts which capture it well already, but also what I wouldn't have thought.
I think at least season 3 will be dramatic, or Lestat will be tired of some things Louis has to say, as Louis has lied, embellished, or totally misremembered aspects of their time together, but similarly, this will happen even if different parties who exit a relationship believe that they're telling the truth, so it'll be good to see where they take Lestats perspective.
I think there will be some inclusion of Nicolas de Lenfent, how Lestat ended up in Paris, and there's teasers, musical tracks, and talk already of his music career. The inspiration for his music is partly a surprise, not what I'd expect, but it also makes sense. They may have changed this/will change it with filming, though.
Magnus. I'd say they'd include him. He is a difficult character for me, but I hope they tell the injustice that was faced, rather than how he was painted too nice in the QOTD movie, not to mention replacing him with Marius (or pretending he didn't exist at all amd it didn't happen to Lestat) however much I loved the movie.
This one I expect we will finally see more about the reality of Lestat, rather than through Louis' adoring and hatefully complex perspective.
In the past, we've not had much book to media, about that, not deeply, and not a way a movie can really intricately capture some complex stories, which is why I support the development of book series being made into a TV series opposed to one movie at a time. There's too much to these, and even if the series is an adaption, I believe it's capturing the essence well in a variety of ways.
Lestat is complex, he's problematic, he's experienced trauma, and living as a queer man in a place that was old fashioned, and as time draws on that will be not as hard, being out won't be, with The Vampire Lestat I don't know if they will delve into that but I feel we will certainly see some of it, the creation of him, his side which could be lies, or could be the truth, or simply, his perspective.
From the teaser, he already looks tired and fed up, having to sift through what Louis has to say.
There's a lot they can do, to say the least. I'm not disappointed so far, I know there are many who are, but that's just me. I don't mind that it's not wholly accurate to the book, and they haven't stated any falsified information that it would be exactly the same either.
I'm thinking Armand will be in it, flickering around the timelines.
I'm hoping to see a role given to Lestats mother, Gabrielle. It would be nice to see her finally shedding the feminine clothes and roles she never liked it the first place, and seeing her free within vampirism. It works for some! Haha. I don't know if they will, though.
Either way, I can't wait. I expect surprises.

I don't really have much to add, I just wanna second these:
The Arai manga is easily the best choice IMO, but of course you can't watch it, so it depends on how your friend feels about comics I guess? But it's seriously so good, absolutely amazing at capturing the emotions and the vibe of the story, as well as being a very faithful adaptation too
1934 is a very good introduction, but obviously it's pretty long and if your friend isn't used to old movies, the style might be a bit distracting (also make sure it's the French 1934 movie and not the American 1935 movie, because that's a very different film and sometimes those two get mixed up ahsjdkf) It's not as faithful but it does have the right energy. It's a lot like the musical in terms of accuracy and vibes, but not as abridged and it's not a musical (well it does have singing but it's all diegetic) Absolutely amazing Valjean in Harry Baur, and I really enjoy this Cosette as well. I also think this one has the best Gillenormand, by which I mean he's hilariously shitty in exactly the way he should be
1972 is my favourite adaptation but I don't think it's a good introduction to Les Mis, I feel like it would work best as a companion to 1934 because it focuses on exactly the parts of the story that the 1934 movie doesn't adapt very accurately. 1972 has the best Marius and the best Éponine IMO, and the best Gavroche, and the best Amis, and the best Javert, and the best Thénardier
The 1925 silent film is probably the most accurate film adaptation, and it's one of the best adaptations of Les Mis I've ever seen, but it's like seven hours long and I know silent films are a bit of an acquired taste. It genuinely is amazing though, I especially love Milovanoff's Fantine. She's my favourite Fantine ever. This one also has a great Myriel and it actually adapts the Myriel section in detail.
OH AND ALSO: a lot of it was filmed in the real locations! The Digne parts were filmed in the real Digne, the Montreuil-sur-Mer parts were filmed in the real Montreuil-sur-Mer!
And it doesn't have the weaknesses that other screen adaptations do, it adapts the whole story faithfully, without changing any big plot points or skimming anything important
(Arai's manga also does that, it has no major plot changes and it's very complete. It might also be better for more modern tastes because the silent movie is obviously very old)
What is the best adaptation to introduce my friend to Les mis?
So like the title said I want to introduce one of my friends to Les mis bc I know she will really like it and loves the themes of the story, she agreed to let me show her an adaptation to get her into it, but idk with which adaptation I should choose to get her into it
I've heard the shoujo cousette is good and complete (I've only watched the first episode for now) but I worry it might be too long for someone completely new to Les mis? Ik the musical is probably also a solid entry point but my friend also isn't really into Musicals so I'm not sure it's the best to get her into it but I could convince her to watch it she's not that much against them, but if there's a better entry point I'll take it
My favorite adaptation is the 1982 one but it's also very strange and I'm not sure how book accurate it is compared to other adaptations so idk if it'd be a good adaptation
So I'm not sure what adaptation to show her first and would appreciate any input to with what adaptation to introduce her to Les mis!

men will spend hours on a Supernatural art deep dive because they search for the artist of that damn T-shirt and know that art is somewhere in someone's archive

Starting off the new year with I think the most background heavy piece I've ever made! I think Rainwings and Nightwings would celebrate their traditional holidays together after the events of The brightest night. So this drawing is meant to show their cultures kind of blending together during a very joyful time. I remember talking about this concept with someone on tumblr a year ago but when I went back through my posts I couldn't for the life of me find it - so if your reading this, I remember you and this drawing stems from that conversation so thank you!

(It took 2 weeks to get the googly eyes off of the line since it kept running away from the narrator. It liked them too much! Though they did eventually get taken off bc Nigel was getting frustrated with it and it's antics)
might draw Nigel interacting with it as a pt 2 :-3

Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple and how “ability users” (opposite to “normal people”) learning to accept themselves through the acceptance of their own abilities is a queer metaphor of acceptance of own's sexual orientation and gender: an essay by me
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#About: Dead Apple. Watched this a while ago with a friend and it was a lot of fun!!!#If you're reading this: thank you so much for hanging out with me I had such a good time (ㅅ´ ˘ )♡#Next to general considerations: wow they were right that Bungou Stray Dogs movie sure can Bungou Stray Dogs#It's always nice to see the detailed animation and elaborate backgrounds of movies. The animation quality compared to the manga is#definitely noticeable and it's nice to see. That said... I still like the season 2 art style more? And I'm speaking strictly of art style.#The s2 one looks more soft and smooth while the da one is so much more rough.#The plot is... Very bsd-esque I don't think there's anything to add.#In my opinion Kyouka's arc is the one that turned out best tbh. I really like her narrative development and personal growth in this movie.#I like the complexity of her state of mind. how full of contradiction she is. I especially appreciate the recurring small changes of–#expression that indicate how she thinks differently from Atsushi even if she doesn't voice them. The fight between her cynicism and her–#kind nature. It's all very interesting.#Atsushi's development is interesting too. Although all the open questions about his ability we still have kind of leave me frustrated#I don't feel very strongly about Akutagawa in this movie? I mean‚ he's there. The ss/kk scenes are always great and in character and a joy–#to witness no matter what they do. He just doesn't shine particularly? Or at least personally I dont find the “proving my strength against–#myself” narrative arc to be particularly interesting. Imo it was a lot better flashed out in the da stage play! With the complexity that–#the dialogues with Chuuya added to the character. Dazai attacking him. And especially Aktgw understanding that Rashomon wasn't testing Aktg#but rather only expressing that unstoppable rage that is also Aktgw's own. About that I checked out the play and I really liked it!!#I only watched highlights (aka: ss/kk and chuu/aku scenes) but there's some stuff I really like. I like the conflict between Aktgw and–#Chuuya and how Chuuya messes up with Aktgw at first maliciously and then amiably. It's interesting how Atsushi himself observes that Kyouka#and Akutagawa get along. And especially the sskk almost-handholding and Atsushi saying Akutagawa has a nice profile were cute akjdhbsawhjb#Next. Da really is shipping paradise (╥﹏╥) Sorry but... It is. oda/zai. daz/atsu. ss/kk. s/kk. fuku/mori. chuu/aku. It really has everythin#and the moments are so good!!!! What else. Wish we'd see more of Tsujimura. And Christie. And women in general tbh.#Also‚‚‚‚‚ Atsushi's tiger form in this movie is ATROCIOUS. I've said it before but it's crazy how a franchises that relies so heavily on–#fanservice came up with something this hideous. Man the movie overall was pretty but Atsushi sure wasn't. Firmly stand by the belief–#that only Akutagawa would find that form attractive.#Oh last note. honestly if we're ready to accept a movie where an antidote has effect AFTER the person has effectively died then we really–#can't complain about any kind of insanity the manga brings up#random rambles
