damian wishes so much that he could tell everyone around him that he's a demon hunter. he wants to share this cool, dark secret so that people will know just how cool he is. unfortunately, it's also a (somewhat) closely kept family secret, and it would also be kind of a dumb idea for everyone to know he was a demon hunter, otherwise demons would Come For Him, and he can't compromise his mission like that!

(the demon crew all 100% know his "occupation". he is not very good at hiding it. he's also not all that good of a demon hunter, his current killcount is at 0. but shhh. he has to hide his identity!!)

blue: How would your OC spend a single day of uninterrupted peace? Where would they go or who would they be with?

oh this one is fun... ves actually had to contend with this question a lot when he first "retired", because he didn't know how to HANDLE a full day of uninterrupted peace. his previous life of crime had this constant underlying sense of danger, urgency- so that even in the moments he was supposedly safe, he still felt that lingering at the back of his mind. he started picking up carpentry and odd jobs because he was so completely restless and at a loss for what to do with himself- eventually he figured out he liked it, that keeping his hands moving until he was exhausted gave him somewhere to channel all that restless energy.

as a result, though, he has a tendency to never slow down, to always be doing something. he's ostensibly retired, but between half-finished projects and repairs and odd jobs around the neighborhood, he's always working on something. and once he does take a day off, it tends to be full to the brim with people- giorno stopping by with coffee to chat, one of his neighbors dropping in with some extra tomatoes from their garden, sam and ori showing up to "have a few beers and play cards" (drink, get rowdy, fall into bed with him.) he kind of likes it that way, though!

he kind of has to be wrangled into having a true, real, genuine day of peace, but sam and ori sometimes manage. usually by keeping him in bed on some rainy day where his joints are achy and he's already a little tired and he's a little more willing to simply... laze around; draped over each other, a movie in the background, leafing through a paperback or dozing off intermittently. it's rare, but it's definitely worth it <3

“I can literally feel you stealing the sheets.”

“Well if you hadn’t taken the lion’s share of the sheets to begin with,” Damian grumbled.

Tim huffed an annoyed sigh. “Whatever. Just try to get some sleep, okay? This is just for tonight, we’ll be back in Gotham tomorrow in our own beds.”

“May the Force be praised.”

Tim bit his tongue and made a mental note to yell at Dick for showing Damian Star Wars. Luckily, Damian seemed to have settled in, so Tim reached over and shut off the light.

“Goodnight,” he said. Then, after a moment that was probably too long, he added, “Sleep well.”

Silence from his bedfellow.

He sighed and settled down into his pillow and closed his eyes.

“Sleep well,” he heard Damian say in a very, very quiet voice.

Less than five minutes went by before he felt the sheets being tugged away from him. He graciously allowed a little bit be tugged over to Damian’s side, and then the tugging stopped and he settled down to sleep again.

He was juuuuuust drifting off when a rustling beside him brought him back to full consciousness. Damian was smacking his pillow, apparently trying to bully the pillow into submission. The pillow was clearly winning.

“Would you knock it off?” Tim grumbled into his own, more submissive pillow.

“How can you expect me to sleep under these circumstances,” Damian hissed, but he huffed and settled down.

Finally.

This time, Tim was going to fall asleep. Nothing was going to bother him and for once in a long time he was going to get a good night of sleep-

Kick. Roll. Shuffle-shuffle. Loud sigh. More shuffling.

“Damian. For the love of god, stop squirming.”

“Next time get us a room with two beds!”

“They only had one room and it only had one bed! It’s not my fault!”

“You could have found us nicer accommodations!”

“Yeah, I could have, if we went an hour in the wrong direction!”

“You are the most aggravating-”

“PleaseIjustwanttosleep!!!” Tim moaned in despair. Damian fell silent.

“Very well,” Damian said stiffly. “I will endure.”

“Thank you,” Tim said, too tired and exasperated to mention the tiny hint of sarcasm he detected in Damian’s voice.

How my main batboy pookies respond to personal conflict/act in arguments. Because I feel angsty today

If someone was mad at Bruce he probably wouldn't care. But! It does heavily depend on who's mad at him. If it was any of his kids (especially Dick or Jason, considering how heavily he feels like he's failed the two of them in the past) he'd probably go quiet and grit his teeth. His words would get stuck sorely in his throat, and when he tried to speak he'd probably start crying. He'd try to wipe away the tears quickly but they would definitely just keep coming. He probably doesn't get angry at other people that often, unless they hurt people he loves in some way. Even then he isn't really the violent type, he'd probably be more cold, calm and cutting in that situation.

Dick! He'd get MAD mad. No tears, no shaky voice, nothing. Obviously depending on what the argument's about, but if it's serious.. yeah. I have an anger issues Dick Grayson agenda. He is all bark and ALL bite. He would probably throw a punch or just full on dive at you if you went too far. That man has a terrifying angry voice, and even if his actions aren't angry or violent.. if you hear that voice, maybe consider running? And never stopping? Until you reach the other side of the galaxy?

Jason is a crybaby to me. Not the whimpy kind, really, but he cries a lot. Crying is probably one of his main pastimes, let's be honest, he's a very emotional guy. When he gets truly angry it tends to be from a place of sadness. But he's a master of words, so he will also be telling you all the ways in which he hates you as tears stream down his face! I loooove imagining him getting mad at Bruce for, like, everything. He'd definitely yell awful things at Bruce and then, as soon as Bruce leaves, he'd sink to the floor and sob like a baby.

Tim. Timmy boy. Timber. He.. he doesn't like conflict. He doesn't start it directly. He tries to avoid engaging in any of his friend's conflicts. If he's mad at someone he'll just sabotage them in some way. Probably by resetting all their passwords or something, if it's a fairly minor conflict. If someone starts yelling at him he shuts down and tunes them out. He never cries (except for his monthly Five Minute Crying Session™️) over anything. Emotions? What are those? Tim has no idea.

Ough Damian. This actually heavily depends on who's mad at him. If it's an authority figure he'll probably at least think about it for days and cry over it in private. If it's his grandfather.. yeah this kid is probably self disciplining himself over it. If it's any of his brothers he won't apologise, won't act like he regrets what they're mad at him for, but he WILL feel guilty about it for the rest of his life. He can very clearly remember every time he's messed up or made someone angry. The main trait that he inherited from Bruce, personality wise, was his guilt.. though everyone assumes it's the cold and uncaring exterior. Or the acting skills.

no no because talia raised damian that’s his mom-probably one of the only people who game him some semblance of kindness in the league-a roll model-an authority figure he cannot question and suddenly she turned him away and sends him to meet his father, someone whose practically a stranger to him

and so he goes and he adapts but everything he’s been taught is challenged all the things he’d been punished for not doing he’s punished for doing

but to keep his family something’s he’s been easier to value so highly he learns and adapts and so he has his father he gets used to this new form of love and it’s ripped from him, his father is dead and everything around him is in shambles and he’s with dick and dick well dick just drills in the idea that the woman who’d loved and poured her tangible pride into him and taught him everything he’s ever known is just Wrong dick tries to save him from his own childhood

and then where does he go from there, it is all wrong and dear god if that’s wrong then what is he what is he without this everything he’s ever known is mute

And then we have Dick whose just trying to live to survive to continue when his father has died and he has to pick up the ashes he’s got to take care of a. new kid and a whole fucking city and he is terrified he’s going to repeat the past

god he’s got so many regrets and so many things he has to do the and world keeps fucking spinning while his has been obliterated

and his brother is chasing after ghosts and his team is picking up the peices and his sister moves and his brother moves and they’re spread out thin grief cannot be escaped yet they all try to avoid it and he’s left to drown in it

but he has to persevere batman cannot die and neither can robin the cycle must continue but all he can do is his best to make it run smoother so he takes in the kid whose so harsh and rough around the edges but still very clearly a child and he tries to make sure damian knows he’s loved that he’s not leaving he tries to provide stability but he is in his mind but a pale imitation of bruce never able he’s truly measure up to the man and really hes not even sure he wants to

And talia, talia’s stuck between a rock and a hard place, she’s never aspired for motherhood and she’d never really gotten a choice but she has a child and she loves him yet she never seems to be able to do him right she knows the league isn’t the best place for a kid but it’s all she’s ever known and likely all he’ll know so she teaches him how to survive and she makes him know how proud she is and how proud he should be

and then she has an opening she can send him to his father to be trained and she knows if she does she’ll never get him back but as long and he’s safe and happy she’ll do it she has to and she knows she will never be forgiven but she will do what she musts for her family she loves Damian so so much but Love alone won't save you make you a better person or excuse the harm you cause in its name It's not enough just to feel love-what truly matters is how you choose to act on it

I think It’d be kinda interesting if Damian was a legacy because Ra’s was a demigod. Especially if it was a god similar to Ra’s personality rather than Damian’s, and he feels a tension against it. And maybe the Lazarus pit has some relation to nectar or the fire healing river in Tartarus and it works better for demigods, relating to how long it’s been working for Ra’s to keep him alive.

Google told me there was a minor god of trickery, cunning, deception, craftiness, treachery and guile named Dolos, which could fit Ra’s but of course doesn’t really match Damian at all, so Dami might feel such a fun tension with that legacy. And if Bruce was also a legacy of a different God, that would make it interesting for Damian too.

For the Waynes, I feel like either a legacy of Zeus (dating back before the big 3 deal) or Thomas being a son of Apollo (whose domain includes medicine [thomas], knowledge [bruce], and art [damian]). I also like the idea of Barbara being not necessarily a child of Apollo but having his divine blessing (bc oracle), and the demigod/legacy v blessed mortal dynamic between her and Bruce could be really cool. Another option could be Nyx (goddess of night) because of Batman’s ability to fade into the shadows so well. She is also sometimes known as the nurse of the gods (old use of that word, not medical related but related to raising other’s children) which is kinda funny with Bruce adopting so many kids.

Since Dami normally has both such pride about his heritage but also conflicting feelings from the vast difference between his parents’ families, I think having 2 competing legacies could offer some really fun explorations of character for him.

ough demigod Ra's is such a good take oh my god. it would really amplify his own conflicts about his heritage in such a fresh way- the pride in being a legacy via Ra's and whatever he's getting from Bruce's side? add the Kane magician aspect i was kinda playing around with? fun and fresh imo.

I think legacy Bruce would be interesting to play around with! i do like apollo and that might influence his brucie persona lol. but the past wayne (or even the kanes!) might be really interesting to look into as demigods lol. nyx would also be interesting! if anything Bruce could possibly be a nyx devotee if anything - definitely funny in the context of nurse of the gods lol. (i do remember reading a fic where jason was a child of nyx...)

i do think i'm gonna do blessed mortal babs! unsure if i want that to be when she was younger or if it happened after TKJ and her taking up the Oracle name (aka apollo heard some gotham vigilante was going by the name oracle and hes like: how about we make that real :D)

Watching The Dragon Prince Season Six Part Six! Moment of Truth. Under the cut as per the usual! This episode will reveal my habit of using more pet names for characters the more distressed I become!

I’d just like to say that every time the intro plays, I experience a few seconds of intense fear as I wait to see if it’s Callum again. They've done it twice now I am fully expecting them to do it again.

Ohh... poor Callum... Yeah, that would be a blow to anyone’s self esteem. Especially when we know from The Frozen Ship that Callum's been struggling with the idea that he had already permanently ruined himself by using dark magic.

(Also again, the voice acting is amazing.)

Oh, you know, that’s a good idea! Since they don’t really need to kill Aaravos they just need to stop him from being freed and the main threats to his status as imprisoned are Claudia finding the pearl or Callum getting possessed. If it’s in the Starscraper being guarded by Celestial Elves, then that’s both problems solved! Claudia doesn’t know where it is and it’d be pretty difficult for a possessed Callum to go get it, especially not before anyone could stop him. Good thinking Rayla!

...On the one hand that’s really bad and a serious problem but on the other hand that is so fucking funny. The magic prison you've been carrying wrapped in an anti-magic blanket through the freezing cold is a giant M&M. Sorry. There is no good way to deliver the news, huh.

And of course it makes him feel worse because to him, if it really was Aaravos influencing Callum without him knowing, then it’s confirming that, not only is there the possibility that he could one day become a threat to his friends safety, he actively is a threat to them. And if it was simply an accident, at the very least, there’s something he can do to prevent another accident. If it's an accident, then it's something that he did and something that he can make an effort to not let it happen again in the future. Whereas if it’s Aaravos, there’s nothing he can do. The thing he could have done to prevent Aaravos possessing him is not use dark magic but that ship has sailed. He’d be entirely helpless and it’d be his own fault.

Also, it goes without saying but I’m going to say it anyways: Give Callum’s VA an award, the voice-acting is so good, the franticness, the hyperventilation. It’s so good.

Ooh, I love this style of flashback. I love the way that it’s the same artstyle as the credits and how it makes perfect sense since in-universe, Viren’s writing all this down on a piece of parchment. Also, I think that this is first time we’ve heard Lissa’s name in the actual show! I love how you can already see that Claudia got her hair-texture from Lissa while Soren got his from Viren.

Hmm. I know it’s probably just coincidence, but the fact that Soren seemingly had a terminal respiratory disease makes me wonder if maybe he had the same condition as Callum’s father, since Callum said that Damian had “some sort of terrible breathing sickness.”

Oh?? I’ve always been curious what it is about the staff that enhances dark magic since it doesn’t come from a specific primal source. Usually, it comes from taking the life force of living things, but how does a staff help with that? Hmm…

Okay, I’ve questioned this before but. What is up with Kpp’Ar’s arm? It’s clearly injured… Is he using his own blood for spells? It feels like such a random detail to add without explanation. I wonder if we’ll find out...

Ah, so Harrow isn’t king yet. Interesting… I guess that makes sense since Kpp’Ar doesn’t appear in any of the Magma Titan flashbacks.

I think I remember Kpp’Ar having given up dark magic from The Puzzle House (please forgive me if I'm wrong my memory is shit), but I wonder what could have happened to make him veer away from dark magic and the staff to the point where he won’t consider using them to save a child… The royal family doesn’t have Aaravos’s mirror yet so I don’t think it could be that. I am so curious about this man...

KPP’AR MAN, COME ON! I get that you’ve seen some things but you could at the bare minimum be a LITTLE more tactful than that! If there’s some reason that the staff can’t be used, you could, I don’t know, EXPLAIN IT to Viren? Instead of just leaving him sobbing in the room with no explanation as to why you are letting his son die? ...I see where Viren gets it from.

And the implications of refusing to get rid of Aaravos’s control considering the fact that he made Rayla promise to kill him if he ever got controlled again and she did. Oh, honey… Callum’s arc this season is repeatedly punching me directly in the stomach.

Plus the voice acting, again. The way he sounds so dead and empty and almost apathetic, like it’s already over, like there’s just no point to anything anymore. AHG.

Or are you shifting a burden to someone who needs all their strength?” I really like Astrid and I like how they're not going the "lying is always bad, telling the truth is always good in every situation no matter the context" route and instead acknowledging that it requires more nuance! Also, I love how Astrid is animated here, her body language is very expressive and fun.

OH? Oh that explains why it was monotone I had been thinking that it was just like, a sudden style change to portray the emotions or something skjfaslkj. That make a lot more sense.

Also, I like the clarification of how the future-sight works! It seems kind of like Clearsight’s ability in Wings of Fire where she can see all of the possible futures that diverge from her decision. Kosmo can see the possibilities that arise from his decision of whether to tell the truth or not and then pick the best option once he’s seen the diverging paths. It’s probably my favorite form of “prophetic” ability and I especially appreciate it being used here since it lets Timeblind elves like Kosmo exist while still holding true to the themes in the show about the nonexistence of destiny and how the choices you make impact the future.

Okay, I still feel like being Timeblind would suck. I can only imagine Kosmo feeling super awkward repeating what he said in the vision and like. I don’t know but I feel like it’d be creepy to have the people around you constantly parrot what you’ve already heard them say like they’re reading from scripts and you know what they’re about to say and the exact tone they’ll say it in a second before the words come out of their mouths. That would entirely creep me out.

SYNCHRONICITY by orpheusaki ( @damianbugs). We're starting with the fic with the least amount of anguish, but one that still packs a punch. Nightwing and Dick!Robin swapping places. Angsty Dick & Bruce stuff happens in both the past and future, and y'all, it is INCREDIBLE. This author is just. Gah. Everything they do is pure gold, and this fic is no exception. Very much made me tear up and my heart hurt a lot, but I was def smiling by the end of it. This will hurt you but at least put a lil bandage over the bruise :)

Sprinklers by SunnyBlue. Tim & Damian feels bc OF COURSE. Tim is gravely injured and begs Damian to leave him. Damian refuses bc he secretly cares about his big bro. It’s time for music headcanons with the batfam, bc if I don’t get this out of my head and onto page, I’m going to implode.

Fave first, Dick is definitely a indie pop/indie rock kinda boy. Not just because I identify with that, but also bc he gives me those overly energetic, bubbly vibes, that I feel like only come from Grouplove, Vampire Weekend, and Adam Melchor. I also feel like he’s a Mitski and Boygenius kinda bitch, bc ough, boY, he has angst. Said angst can only be expressed through sad girl music, bc he will die before he ever expresses his feelings about anything to anyone.

NEXT we have Jason, I think he’s an emo ass boy, ngl, but specifically like folk punk. He listened to twin sized mattress one time, broke down crying, and hasn’t looked back. Also things like The Mountain Goats, PUP, or Modern Baseball. Ugh, I could make a whole ass playlist for this boy. If he’s with other ppl, I think he’d play something more mainstream of the emo genres, like Arctic Monkeys or The Strokes.

DAMIAN, I THINK, IS COMPLICATED. So, for one thing, he grew up in a weirdo environment, where they probably never listened to music, and if they did, it was “”tasteful”” music, for rich ppl. BABS, I think, would be a folk music/sad girl music enthusiast. She really likes Ryan Adams, Phoebe Bridgers, Hoizer, Mitski, etc. It’s something that she and Dick bonded over when they first started dating. I think with her, she appreciates the calm/slightly sad music bc she lives in a rlly crazy world, and she just wants to meditate a little when she’s sitting at that desk all day, trying to keep her family and friends alive.

Timmyyyyyy is a Kpop enjoyer. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. Specifically, he probably likes SEVENTEEN or ATEEZ a lot. He actively tries, every day of his life, to not stan any of the members, but it’s rlly hard when he’s had two hours of sleep in the past week, and Yoon was just really cute in that last interview. I also think he’s really into trap and pop. He knows all the lyrics to every recent song on the top 100 list.

Duke, I think is really into R&B. I think he’s amenable to pop/rock/rap, etc., but he really just wants something to belt out. Common occurrences are finding him in the kitchen, making an omelette, singing Amy Winehouse at the top of his lungs. If u catch him doing it tho, he gets rlly shy. His guilty pleasure is theatre music. He has to bribe his family to go see Little Shop of Horrors with him.

Stephanie has a 2000s-2010s pop addiction. Anything that makes her feel like Hannah Montana is her SHIT. She’s out here blasting Bubblegum Bitch and early Taylor Swift. You also can and will find her crying to sad One Direction songs. When she’s moody, she will unironically play My Chemical Romance. She understands pop punk a lil bit, but the lyrics tend to get male-manipulator-y, so she sticks with the bands she already knows.

Alfred likes 50s/60s jazz/pop. Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker, etc. It reminds him of home, and of his family. He also really likes old French music, like Joe Dassin. I’m ngl, I don’t know old music enough to add more to this one, but u get the idea 😭

BRUCE. Ugh. He’s definitely the kind of dad who never moved past the music of his childhood. He firmly believes that the Beatles is the best band of all time, and no one can convince him otherwise. I think he tends to gravitate towards the rock/goth end of 70s/80s music, so things like the Cure, New Order, maybe a lil bit of Siouxsie and the Banshees. His goth phase was INTENSE, Alfred can attest to this.

Ok, Cass is defo a similar situation to Damian, grew up with literally silence, so music is a super new thing to her. But I think she really enjoys all kinds of genres. I think that especially instrumentals get her, bc it’s just noises that she can focus on, no lyrics to distract her from the sound. I think she also likes to “sing” along to said instrumentals, but mostly it’s just making noises to the same beat and sound, but it’s very off-key.
