Man, the Mountain Goats band description on Spotify is so obnoxious. I love the band but whatever publicist thought to write "The Mountain Goats are, for all practical purposes, the endlessly clever and prolific and whomever he chooses to work with at the moment" should really rethink how they value the other musicians' contributions to the band. Yes, JD is the only member who's been there the whole time, is the band's primary songwriter, and his voice is the biggest defining feature of the band, but you can't tell me that any of their recent albums would feel the same without Jon Wurster's incredibly specific style of playing the drums or Peter Hughes... everything really, not to mention the absolute level-up in the breadth of their sound when Matt Douglass joined a few years back.

Especially in light of Peter deciding to step away for, as he put it, "a tedious multitude of reasons including health and sanity," I hope they take the opportunity to write up a description of the band that doesn't belittle the remaining folks.

Pros of doing the kiddie walls at the bouldering gym: easier routes which I can actually sometimes top out on. Not as sore the next day either.

Cons of doing the kiddie walls: the humiliation of a ten year old asking “which route are you trying? Oh, the purple one?” And then flashing it immediately when you’ve been struggling with it for two sessions 😭
