the Simon baby-trapping fic is finally finished but where Price was the fluffy, 80s sitcom (but one filled with gone girl-esque mutual manip, morally ambiguous shenanigans), Simon is what happens when you try to tame a rabid dog.

his idea of want in this is like a child trapping a firefly inside a pretty glass jar filled with shredded grass, leaves, broken sticks, dirt, and crushed flowers. everything is perfect; cosy. comfortable—

but he forgot to poke holes in the lid.

I went back to check the animation in the last episode of the Swordsmith Village Arc to see if Tanjiro had a Red Blade or not. There are a couple moments when the early light of the sun gives it a reddish tint, which is a very touch, but it's still a black sword. Then as he strikes Hantengu, it's full on Hinokami Kagura effects, but it's still a black sword. Then, for one very, very brief instant as it hits Hantengu's true neck, it does flash with the tell-tale sign of a Red Blade. Tanjiro achieved it for a split second without Nezuko's help.

But why was I checking?

BECAUSE I DON'T THINK HAGANEZUKA-SAN EVER ACHIEVED HIS DREAM OF SEEING A RED BLADE AND I AM SO SAD FOR HIM

“So what do you think?” “Hmm?” She leaned back in her chair, tapping her pen on the edge of the table.  “About changing your identity for a bit.  Just until things start to smooth over.” Super leaned back against the counter, angling his head just slightly so his quills rested across the top.  He tapped his fingers on the cabinet doors in thought.  “I guess… Super Sonic isn’t much of a name, is it?”

“Hey! Wow what are the odds of this, eh?” Buck’s eyes follow the voice to see Abby’s fiance standing beside her. Or, husband actually, the thick gold band on his finger taunts.

"Yeah," Buck agrees with an anxious laugh. "You, uh, you guys in town visiting?"

"Sam's has some family in the area, we thought we'd bring the girls, spend a few weeks in California for old times' sake."

"That's the nice thing about being your own boss, you get to approve your own time off," Sam adds with a wink.

"Wow that's great," Buck says. "Uh, hey, congrats by the way. On the wedding."

He watches Abby's eyes flit to Buck's left hand quick as a whip after he says it. In a blink she's back looking at his face. Buck might be able to convince himself he imagined it, but for the way her expression has an extra layer of sympathy in it now. He feels his palms go sweaty about it.

Abby smiles. “Just out here doing some shopping?” Alone, she doesn't say.

“Uh, no. Actually I’m, um, I’m just waiting for someone.” A lie. "My partner." A bigger lie.

"Oh!" Abby says. "I didn't realize you were seeing someone!" And she looks genuinely relieved at the prospect.

"Yeah." He smiles back, nervously. "It's still kind of new."

"It's not another dispatcher is it?" Sam chimes in, like his ribbing his old pal. Buck fights the urge to cringe visibly.

"Uh," he flounders, "no, no, it's-" His eyes are flitting around the crowd like he'll find answers there. Jesus, all he has to do is say a name. Any name. "It's, um…"

There's a split second where he almost drops the act, admits that he's exactly as hopelessly, chronically single as Abby had first assumed. And then, by some miracle, he locks eyes with… Tommy? He does something with his face that must portray some kind of ‘please get me the fuck out of this situation’ message because Tommy subtly cocks his head before striding over to them and then the first words out of Buck’s mouth are-

“Hey, baby!”

a/n: I am pretty sure Sam has two daughters at least? I also cannot remember what he does for work and I am probably not going to go back and rewatch the train ep to see if they mention it so I made him a generic entrepreneur

i've returned from the shadow(ban) realm

which is the good news. i guess? on strange news - i have no idea how? i just opened tumblr and suddenly i could see my posts in gen tags again.

tumblr support never contacted me back after i sent my ticket. so. like? was i just put in naughty shadowban bucket for a week or so as punishment and now i was let out??? ok i guess????

Brief quilting break for a scrap basket update! This is my braid first, basket later method experiment, sewn and unsewn, and I think it might be faster than the no-sew method but the no-sew method might be sturdier? I’m going to keep braiding it and make it a deeper basket
