What is the difference between jelly, jello, and gelatin?
Welcome to Lucky Store's summer sales! As you browse our selection of sweet treats and desserts, you may come across products that contain jelly, jello, or gelatin. While these terms are often used interchangeably, they actually refer to slightly different things.
Jelly is a type of fruit spread that is made by boiling fruit juice, sugar, and pectin (a natural thickening agent found in fruit) together until it sets. The result is a semi-translucent, spreadable substance that is commonly used on toast or as a filling for cakes and pastries.
Jello, on the other hand, is a specific brand of gelatin dessert mix that has become so popular that the brand name is often used to refer to any type of gelatin dessert. Gelatin itself is a colorless, tasteless substance that is derived from animal collagen. When mixed with water and other ingredients, it sets into a jiggly, semi-solid texture that can be molded into a variety of shapes and flavors.
So, while jelly and jello both contain gelatin as an ingredient, they are not the same thing. Jelly is a fruit spread that is thickened with pectin, while jello is a brand of gelatin dessert mix that contains gelatin as its primary thickening agent.
At Lucky Store, we offer a variety of delicious treats that feature jelly, jello, and gelatin. Whether you prefer classic fruit spreads, jiggly gelatin desserts, or anything in between, our summer sales have got you covered. So come on in and find your perfect sweet treat today!
