I want their relationship to heal his hurt and guilt from Kathy’s death, I want her to get excited when she sees him for the first time in a long time, I want him to call her “Dawnie” and/or have some stupid nickname(s) for her, I want him to help her with her history and art homework, I want them to fight and bicker like siblings, I want her to be mad at him for leaving Buffy (and her by extension), I just want that relationship for them SO BAD!

Someone please gif the parallel between Buffy in The Gift and Joel in the season finale of TLoU! The way Buffy argues with Giles when he implies she should kill Dawn to save the world, "Then the last thing she'll see is me protecting her" "You'll fail", and Marlene telling Joel that he can't protect Ellie forever...Both Dawn and Ellie wanted to make the sacrifice, but of course Buffy and Joel wouldn't allow that. Buffy says "I'll kill anyone who comes near Dawn", and Joel literally did it. Lol

Regarding BTVS’ fandom treatment of Buffy is such a historical study. Joss Did Those to her character but also: Buffy even in the early seasons got so fucked up?? She came back with optimism but SO MUCH happened to her. In the first season she literally DIES. It’s no wonder by the end of the show (S6 specifically) she was depressed after dying and coming back again!! But this time for longer!! The girlie needed to find reasons to get back into it… Dawn and her friends after experiencing being ripped away from heaven bro….

Im glad in recent years people see how Buffy is such a great character and stopped hating her as vehemently. I genuinely can’t fathom how so many people just bashed her. Her character is nuanced and shit, she is allowed to be a girlboss who fails sometimes and needs help getting back up. When she gets back up she’s stronger. Smh.
