Feralytosis
The werewolf disease
Tumblr media
Different specimens of the primate order can be affected by this rare sickness.
The main symptoms are a total change in the anatomy of the body, increase in size, elongation of the muzzle and a great appetite for meat, preferably of the species of the infected subject.
Tumblr media
lýkos-protanthropos Primordial Were-man.
The Protanthropos is a cuadrupedal animal with great intelligence and are very sociable, they're often found in big groups or tribes, ruled by a dominant (Alpha) pair.
These creatures can spread the sickness throught bites and corporal fluids, altought the percentage of surviving a direct attack of any of these beasts is close to none.
Tumblr media
lykánthropos Homo sapiens lycaon.
The illness is believed to have spread to the human world when the outcast Lycaon started his reign over Arcadia, Greece.
Starting generations of disease that stretches into modern times, despite this, werewolves are nearly extinct due to the extensive hunt made by humans.
Tumblr media
(top to bottom) lýkoseráida & lýkosnános
These are examples of small variations of the sickness, these are rather exotic due to the spreading method of the disease.
these creatures are often formed by experimentation rather than a natural contagion.

The Dana Terrace Vs Vivienne Medrano, The Great Debate of Two Female Creators
Tumblr media
Hello Starry Knights, This is the lovely Kyoko Cane, The Brown Sugah Queen, & cosplayer who performs and visits numerous cons throughout, while making blogs/vlogs on animated media & entertainment.
as you know or are new to this page, I am an artist who also dedicated my fashion in drag, on all my platforms along my artwork & discussions (be it anime or Western) that can affect real-life even fandoms, with a variety of videos.
the title of the post is about The two proclaimed talked about animators, Dana Terrace & Vivienne Medrano, I'll be critiquing how these two women of animation tackle the industry. This will have strong opinions from recent interview videos I've watched.
(I'll be calling Vivienne VIVI FOR SHORT & letting you know, if I were to watch ones in the future affecting my post come on the comments to ask freely, AND YES ALL PROJECTS AND TOPICS ARE NOT WITHOUT THEIR CRITIQUES, FLAWS IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT, CHECK OUT THE DAYSTAR VOYAGE, DON'T HATE, APPRECIATE! )
OK LETS GET STARTED In this 3-part segment
Tumblr media
1. The Different Artstyles That Made Us Love These Shows.
Vivis work (Helluva Boss & Hazbin Hotel)
Tumblr media
Now We all know as fans & lovers of animation when we hear a series that's greenlit after viewing on a television screen, in a magazine, or sponsored in commercials, right? As for these two,
The first time I heard of VIVI's work was on a YouTube ad commercial in line & premiered for the pilot, I was fully captivated by its groundbreaking story, from hazbin hotel to the comedy in helluva boss, along with its ghoulish Beetlejuice-inspired art style.
(which I'm a sucker for the niche, indie projects & gothic horror.)
observing her sketchbook on YouTube, I was drawn in by the captivated humanoid shapes she sketches, along with her fluid & flowing style.
the worldbuilding version of heaven & hell drew me in, after watching hazbin hotel. The pilot had a lot to offer from its dreary horrific turns/obstacles from its character debut, story & distorted beauty that there was a lot to tune Into along my first episode of Helluva Boss,
Now we are gonna get down to lore storytelling and character growth.
(and im fully aware of how the fandom treats the rest of the main & supporting cast not letting them flesh out including the females, btw)
Vivi has so much to offer, after watching the latest episode of Helluva Boss and finishing Hazbin Hotel, I see she has the potential to make a good show on drama & sell it, however with her controversy coming through I feel she needs to learn on how to perceive herself online, so makes it hard for me not to hate her series, be it art and her work.
(its truly good when it wants to be as for the writing ima get to that later. with the stolitz & lumity discourse on part 2)
The owl House by Dana terrace
Tumblr media
Now you all know by now, I am a full-on Owl House fan regardless of its show ending early, and my many critics on Dana Terrace drew me in with her macabre art and full-on passionate skeletal pieces after looking at her socials and sketchbook online, as a debut showrunner who made her great stance on lgbt representation she has cemented herself as an acclaimed cartoon creator.
However, she does have her flaws ever since rewatching the series, and a lot to learn about the business, after rewatching The Show and yes I have notes written to prove them,
To add I felt if alex Hirsch wasn't on the project, everyone wouldn't watch that show since yall want it to be the next GRAVITY FALLS,
I love the fandoms that discuss the errors of these creators cause it gives more insight on how to portray yourselves on in the real world, cause lemme tell you, it was all watered down I'm get to that in a minute
one problem i have with particularly since she's a good artist & creator is her depending on certain tropes to carry out her cast, cause some may be harmful, along tropes being flanderized & the writing of character being generic & stereotyped.
She needs work on being a better showrunner cause those skills need Cleaning up including writing certain characters on who gets the spotlight.
NEXT SEGMENT
2. The Good, Great, Bad & Ugly in Fandom Discourse,
Vivis Work (Wow Yall can be Wow)
Tumblr media
Vivienne Has made her mark in the YouTube market ever since making her pilot debut on Kesha video & hazbin hotel pilot,
I'm so glad for her contributions towards the indie market cementing her way to showing great representation in the general audience for an adult show, not to mmention disablity rep, yes an adult show and that's not without its controversy,
with her grand debate, I feel everyone took this woman's artwork turning it into something ugly, which is so uncool.
and I for one will not stand for the hate trains of now popular shows flip-flopping and then float back to it cause your series is acclaimed now, let's be real she deserves her crowns and laurels, Just keeping it real, regardless cause its a fire show
The fandom has shown their love of the show cause it knocked down so many doors in many ways, but let's be real the audience is now geared toward children cause we all know, this generation can be doing some crazy things, the way they all need to tone down the language, and let characters breath in the show
which I feel viv needs to work on the jokes. I get, it's an adult show which is concerning and it's a Gen Z world where people have access to computers 247, which contributes to all the nasty discourse and crass behavior not to mention,
fandom needs to calm down her fans when it comes down to her work and the way stoliz is perceived.l can be questionable, not to mention how the females are written which I do know the key word for this below.
cause i rarely do find the females are compelling, but yet to fleshed out like the rest of the male characters so misogynist comes into mind in this show and how it sells
there some moments it only aims to the infamous ship Stolitz (and doesn't let other characters breathe (this is a problem with the owl house which ill get to right now cause the pacing is wow smh)
(next to the owl house which I'll get to cause OMG)
Tumblr media
THE OWL HOUSE FANDOM (GRRRR) lemme calm down
If you haven't seen my posts, including the bashing and discourse there's also a list I swear lemme quote
in the words of Biggie Small - if you don't know now ya know.
The owl house fandom i was on ride or die for lumity. however we all know how that ship got it start and built up cause they expected it to be this thing to say (F you to Disney) which is good cause disney had its comuppence howver, after the show ended
fans have become the most foulest ugliest & disrespectful fandom ever since the Steven Universe, Voltron and miraculous incidents,
its sad to see how these two franchises fell into the worse cases, the two creators may come across not caring of there fandom acts cause there's a saying
The captain always goes down with his ship MEANING
A captain should not have to sacrifice their life or crew, simply because the vessel they are in control of is in distress
There’s two fandoms such as Steven universe & voltron fell from grace into toxicity down below that are prime examples
youtube
The Owl House fandom has got to be some of the most entitled, uppity if not (racist) fans!
yall clearly have not listened to other fans or can't take criticism, yes the show did make very feminist undertones and the male characters didn't shine at all in their titular episodes or moments, which doesn't help at all.
Since Dana drew inspiration from Powerpuff Girls
(which comes on and the writers being all female, might have some damaging effects)
Cause its stifled the male characters in a way where there not as prominent or impactful,
So this word MISANDRY comes to mind
The fandom has gone down to the point of no return, I mean,
one fan from a webcam interview WANTED DANA's ADDRESS EWWW! (in one disccus video0
its not that the Disney drama was too blame for the project, (to an extent) which I'm proud for the fandom for banding together on animation, but need to take off the lgbt glasses, cause boy the show's writing was pushed in favor of that.
CONGRATS You did at the cause of Harassment and bad behavior in fandoms,
NEXT TOPIC
3. Make The Business Makes Sense & epilogue
THE OWL HOUSE
Tumblr media
Dana Terrace has the makings of doing good shows however when it comes down to an audience to kid she has some major damage control on how the fandom will come across,
i mean have we not learned from the Lilith and Camilla toxic issues, you can tell the show likes to demonize the adults which is unacceptable, and can damage storytelling and characters.
Tumblr media
the truth i feel there needs to be proper staff on how to write POC, ethnic and cultural representation In the show, Amphibia, Molly mcgee, Haileys on it and other break-out shows did it better,
hell even Amphibia doing those cuisines food culture in Frogworld, can you imagine the boiling isles taking on Hispanic cuisine.
Which i felt could've hit a mark on luz home life and culture if written & fleshed out,
Like the staff didn't know how to write those topics, they've coulda gone so far with it but unfortunately fall flat in that area,, not to mention the fashion. UGH
sigh.
ViVI WORKS ( i try not to make this quick but i can discuss more on comments be NICE)
Tumblr media
Vivienne Medrano has good fashion and business sense
its important to have that cause having a Cloud Nine franchise coming from nothing can do wonders for how you are perceived as an artist,
The discourse has come due to her take on the controversy on platforms talking on her many harsh topics
(in my opinions she too needs to work on controlling scenarios & damage control that can affect her
So tried but yeah
vivi is a dominant artist who takes her business seriously so I am glad to have her flourish in Spindlehorse,
but just i wish i cant help but fall outta love with her work, knowing of the problems in today's animation comesacross how you say even snowflakes can break under if heard by there favorite creators.
lets be honest these two can learn from each other. and vivi does sure know angles and promoting
youtube
very glad to get this written so I put some thought into this
i wish nothing for the best for these awesome artists and creators thank you all for coming so far and have a wonderful voyage thanks.

If able, could we get an update on any of your writings? I loved hearing about them (Not forcing, ofc!)
YOU SURE CAN ANON!! again, as with all of these asks, thank you so much for being interested in my work??? i LOVE talking about my silly fics <333
here's a rough timeline of all my fics btw!! i thought it'd be fun to visualize hkgj i'll be talking a little about all the ones i haven't yet talked about!!
Tumblr media
Preface, here's all my fic wips as explained before!! and all my writing can be found in my #inland drabbles tag! ask 1, ask 2!
Message to All Bitches: Please Survive - This funny title has been the name for a while, but I think if I had to choose a serious one, it'd be "Should the Stars Go Out" :3 This is my most ambitious project of all my skill wips, I think, due to the medium i intend on telling it in (it is. technically not a fic?? hkjg) this is also my most secretive project hkgj <33 word count(?) is 2908!!
Meet the Parts that Make You - Kim meeting the Skills fic, though it's mostly been abandoned by now hkgj well, not abandoned, i still really love the concept? but I need to get a bunch of these other fics done first (Let's Make It a Home for worldbuilding, Swept Up for character studies) so I can get everything correct, before introducing it all to Kim hkgjg <33 Nevertheless, word count is 5459!
The Sunrise Momentum - Mostly abandoned, but i still froth at the fuckin mouth thinking about it RAUGHHH. HOLY VOWS. waking up, getting out of bed with depression, that part of you that wants you to live, caring about you so so so fucking much. this hypothetical fic hits very close to home <3 i promise i will keep you alive, as long as you're there to wake up every morning. willpower and devotion. volition is kind of everything to me did you know that? hkgjg current word count: 331 <3
Who Are You, If Not... - Esprit De Corps centered fic! i wrote a lot about it in this ask, but basically: hey, if Harry leaves the RCM, what the fuck happens to Esprit? i have some personal feelings about leaving a community that only used you for what you could give them. to keep going back, trying to check on them time and time again, even when they hurt you. it's cathartic to put it in the perspective of this fic, i think :] also i just think the psyche group is fun for discussions hgkjg esprit, my darling community skill!! current word count: 1497
When Two Skills Love Each Other Very Much - again, funny silly title hgkjg but i think its serious name would be, like, Summer Solace or something? brightest day of the year, sunrise parabellum. hypothetical child of volition and echem, she's hope, y'know? small and trying to grow. something to carefully tend to, to keep alive, and in turn she will keep you alive. this fuckin. symbolism raguguhh i love you baby solace you are MY ANGELLLLLLLLL!!!!!! <333
I THINK THIS FIC IS SO SWEET I LOVE THE SKILLS TRYING TO RAISE A KID HGKJG im so.. it's like how Let's Make It Home redux, the skills are kinda dysfunctional, but they've grown and they're getting better too and they're trying to work together towards a common goal, and together they can do it. i think they've gotten a lot better about working together!! and they all care for this kid a lot <333
Here's a snippet because oh my god i am fond of them (not in AO3 ready format though hkjg)
ELECTROCHEMISTRY presses a tentacle to his cheek to prop up the grin on his face - Hey, man, we've never raised a kid before. Give us *some* credit, at least. VOLITION holds Solace to his chest. She sleeps peacefully, starbright face pressed to his armor at his heart - I am. I think -- despite all the mishaps -- we've been covering all our bases surprisingly well. We wouldn't have been able to do this when we woke up in Martinaise, is all I'm saying here. VOLITION looks up and exchanges a fond glance with Electrochemistry - We've... all grown a lot, haven't we?
^ like hey. if you uh. compare that last volition line to the last volition line in the snippet i shared for unstoppable force? where now volition cannot only meet echem's eye, but LET HIMSELF FEEL AFFECTION FOR HIM?? oh my GOD the parallels, the character growth, i WILL PERISH.
i still do think this fic would be better as a comic hkgjg it feels like a good story to cap it off, and if i ever get the rest of these fics done, i'd want to end on it if i could hkjgg <33 LOOK AT THEIR CHARACTER ARCS. LOOK AT THEM FINDING JOY. GIVING THEM A HAPPY ENDING HKJG
that's about it, i think!! thank you for reading!! (and holy fuckin shit if you've read all of these i will. die for you now. i really appreciate anyone who takes the time to read my rambles, i love you hgkjg <33)

Aurim worldbuilding day 20!
no explicit world building of aurim right now, i just briefly want to talk about the history of it!
the initial idea for a world building project started about 5 or 4 years ago, intially starting as a "beastiary" that people could plug into already existing games.
more spesifcally they were little tid bits of lore in books about suprisingly normal subjects. the first idea was for a book to put it in was an encyclopedia of plants in a fantasy world! though there wouldve been other books like travel guides and etc etc all written within the cannon of the world.
in fact the few ideas i had back then still kind of apply to this, mostly kings fruit and deathblooms.
there was also this god of the library, who took every book he can. in fact the series of books were going to be named after him!
there was even some lore with him too!
early in aurim history i wanted to explain why there was so much time between progress (of course theres a much better explanation now) and at the time i had this organization called the occult (creative i know), where they would seek scientific and magical progress at any costs. and by the time people discovered steam engines, theyd be about our modern level.
ofc they found out that gods could be created through belief (which is where the idea came from actually) and they wanted to create a god. so they found a tomb of the four horsemen of the apocalypse and woke up famine, and then put him immediately back to sleep.
(btw the designs for the horsemen were actually pretty cool. plague was a sentient swarm of bugs, war was actually a mamal that flew, and a bird that was stuck on the ground and they were constantly fighting. and death was... i dont remember)
and what they did was they somehow turned his physical hunger into a hunger of knowledge or something? and then SCP style implanted the idea that he was always a god into peoples heads.
now i should explain: THE OCCULT NO LONGER EXISTS IN AURIM. in fact its so old that aurim was still called ennisis at the time. (aurim is technically a rewrite of ennisis)
the occult was my attempt to give the world building of ennisis a "story". to force it to create a narrative. of course this is not the direction i want to go with aurim anymore, aurim doesnt have a villian.
lets talk more about my design process for aurim itself actually.
as aurim exists now, i try to world build for it "naturalistically". in other words, everything in aurim conforms to the rules aurim has set, and its nature. i think arcano curcuitry is a really good example of this, as though i say its a different casting system, its actually just a different more understandable method of the SAME spell casting system.
this is also why i dont create a map for aurim, nor its countries quite yet. because aurim is more a set of rules then an actual place. aurim is a world built to allow me to tell any story i want within its boundries.
oh who wants to hear about the very first incarnation of ennisis?
this comes from a story called the celeste invictus, it was a story based on spelljammer, and was firmly set in the dnd world. but i changed alot of what was in between different solar systems.
but the idea was that there was this pink blue yellowish gas out in space (this is where the colors for sourile comes from) that had a very spesific flow (IDK MAYBE LIKE SOURILE DOES???), it always flowed away from this giant center storm in space (idk ever head of OFAN STORMS??).
and the interesting part about it is how it interacted with solar systems! because solar systems were surrounded by this oily black crystal with little holes in them (which made up the night sky). as this material (called phlogiston at the time) made its way through these holes, it dispersed into this energy almost that could be used to cast magic (HM?????). in fact its only because that energy was there is why gods could exist in the first place (HM?????????)
back to that storm, in the center of it WAS ennisis, but a very very old version i remember nearly nothing about, besides the fact that there was a giant dragon that took up half the planet.
i think thats about as much misc things aboht aurim i can remember now. but its nice to look back on the past of aurim and see what changed and where inspiration for my modern ideas comes from. ig it makes me wonder how much of todays aurim is going to be thrown out in the future? but yeah thats all rn

do you have any tips on fanclan worldbuilding? cool blog btw! :3
Well, I really love sociology and injecting culture into my Clans, but put story and characters first! Think about what you want to say, what you would like your themes to be, and THEN dive into the environment.
For me, learning some new trivia or tidbit about a plant or animal, or finding something cool in a process, that's all an extra reward to me. Really, what I want to do is make the five Clans feel like a real culture that is molded by their environment.
I want to,
Have more roles within Clans, so that there's more ways to contribute than just fighting and patrolling (especially for characters like Briarlight!!)
Work together more often; cooking or building is a way to do that easily (that's why I picked Torear and Mudclaw as the little cameo cats in the Tunnelbun entry. to show them just casually being brothers. scourge btw was just my partner being funny and we leaned into it i love them)
Include some more concepts of land appreciation and think about what resources they have access to, and how that shapes them
You don't even need a HARD list (I only wrote this out as demonstration) but when you're adding stuff, think about what this says about the culture. Think about what you want to say with a little addition. With tunnelbuns; WindClan has a remnant of a part of their culture they lost, they don't steal from humans without 'repayment', and they're creative.
Maybe your Clan is brutal and rejects new ideas. Maybe they DON'T want cats doing 'soft' things like gardening. You could have two clans with different cultural values in the same biome, and as a result, ClawClan hunts a lot more and GrainClan breeds fat mice.
Then expand on that. You want to show GrainClan being isolated? Make the domestic mice a well-kept secret. ClawClan's benevolent side? Share food when a disease spreads in livestock populations. Show me what the Clans you've created are like.
From there; Pick a location.
You don't have to do what I do where you stick to hard rules and shave out things that could be very cool, but I actually find that working within limitations is a LOT more fun because I have to get creative with what I have!
Plus, when you pick a location you're familiar with, you can actually learn more about the place you live in that way. I learned a lot about rewilding projects in my own area because of one of my FanClans.
As an example, for the Bonefall Rewrite, there is a massive expanded conflict over the Mothermouth Moorland. I learned that flax grows best in a floodplain; a place that has high water levels which completely drain away. So, the area became a floodplain.
If I just gave in and worked backwards to give them silk or cultivated hemp fields or something, the pieces wouldn't have fallen into place.
Learn about your location. Find what's available. Work with the guidelines you set down. Make exceptions when it sparks joy, of course!! But limit them like a treat. Over time, your guidelines will shift anyway as you get into the flow of making your story.
I'm no professional or anything of course. But, that's my advice. Hope it all helps!

Last Song: Magnetic by Waterparks (i'm going to see them in a week!)
Currently Watching: Four different things lol 1) Neon Genesis Evangelion (rewatch) bc i'm gonna watch End of Evangelion w a friend over spring break. 2) Black Lagoon - kinda mid but pretty fun. I like how Revy has Gun Autism and belligerent sexual tension with every other woman in the show 3) Dungeon Meshi. very nice to chill eat dinner while watching the Monster Food Show. 4) Scavengers Reign - soooo good. What if you were marooned on the most beautiful scifi horror planet ever. Alien ecosystem that hates you is one of the most creatively designed things ive ever seen
Three Ships: hmmmm i feel like i think less abt ships now than i did a few years ago. That said,
Asa x Denji (Chainsaw Man manga) - ohhhhh my god its so good. this is mostly bc Asa is one of my favorite characters ever but their cringeboy x failgirl dynamic is peak. theres also the impending doom which totally wont happen if i look over here.
Anthy x Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - the blueprint. i can't talk about them here this post would reach novella length. go watch Utena legitimately the best show ive ever seen.
Shinji x Kaworu (NGE) - whenever i get sad i post this to my instagram story
Tumblr media
Favorite Color: her...
Tumblr media
Currently consuming: Priory of the Orange Tree (book, good), The Magnus Protocol (podcast, good), Kill Six Billion Demons (webcomic, goated)
First Ship: The first thing i shipped in any way relating to internet fandom was Pharah x Mercy (overwatch). The first fictional relationship that i really liked and thought about tho is probably Percy and Annabeth. PJO numero uno campeao do mundo

Last Movie: DUNE PART 2 ITS SO GOOD RAHHHH
Currently working on: I have several writing projects that are neat but are not getting finished, but primarily three things: 1) scifi project ive been working on since i was 15. I think ive managed to stay true to the original vision (star wars ripoff) while also making it somewhat good. 2) Newish high fantasy project born out of worldbuilding a four-gender system. I like how the magic system intertwines with gender i like the theme of cycles and how to break them, but ive still got a long way to go. 3) Long scifi short story about a clash of oppressive societies via toxic yuri. almost done!
Writing: I'm assuming this means completed. Several small things i don't care too much about, and one pretty good short story about a spaceship AI having a Transgender Moment (1 dead many injured)
Art: discord whiteboard akiangel. they're in love btw.

seven snippets , seven people
( thanks @cosmic-opossum !! here's his post )
Doing the same thing shx did bc I also haven't written anything much lately since sai'm focusing on worldbuilding and research for a personal project ( idk if it's going to be an essay or slideshow or who knows ) on critical theory and nationalism.
[ 1. chronicles of dust ] - Just another epic fantasy story. Part of my Turalinverse multiverse. MC Khanyi is a the favorite of the deity of cruelty and malice , war between factions , old magic , and a fallen empire she tried to place her hope in reviving ( but it's really and truly dead ). Lots of themes of duty and one's purpose.
[ 2. skyfall ? ( undecided ) ] - Also part of Turalinverse. Postapocalyptic adventure with lots of philosophy in which the two ( m/f ) mc don't fall in love :)) Also a not-so-subtle critique on capitalism and exploitation of labor , along with fighting monsters , and existential dread. Ends with the nihilism of the mcs prompting them to destroy humanity.
[ 3. under the mountain ] - Turalinverse. Cults and old gods and the politics of colonialism ( wooo ). A small colony town on the border of the Arinthar empire struggles with warring factions of monks , Arinthari envoys , and the town guard. One day , two defectors from the Arinthari armies come to the town with a vision to revive magic ( which is suppressed by the Arinthar ) and chaos and betrayal ensues.
[ 4. golden voices ] - Turalinverse ! The legend of Aurum Vox , the golden voice , a being that calls itself the chronicler , and seeks the end of knowledge. Gonna try to write it as an epic poem.
[ 5. just before dawn ] - Basically more philosophy but absolutely ridiculous at the same time ( think waiting for godot ). Set in a rural southern california town , a group of 3 teenagers meet in the dark hours at their favorite grocery store parking lot to process their lives. Nothing comes of any of it.
[ 6. tacit and filigree ] - Turalin. The story of the courts of magic and an exploration into Dalan's ( the main plane in turalin ) magic system and the politics surrounding it. Idk i came up with the title before the plot.
[ 7. unnamed ] - Another story in verse ( in epic poem ) threading together a couple poems i've written. It's bloody , it's dark , it's utterly incomprehensible.
Tagging : @julystruck , @orionsworldbuilding , @eccentric-kalki-talde , @revenant-chaos , @ponygirl-izzy , @local-yurei , @reptiles-of-the-mind. BTW ! I feel as though this can also work for art ocs ( like a lil description maybe ) , poetry , and anything creative.

we've been mutuals for a while but i know nothing about you so like, your sona character, can you tell us a little about them? i remember seeing a ref posted once a while ago but not much else haha
oh!! i will absolutely take any opportunity to talk about My Boyn't but talking about them requires context involving the world they exist in so i'll take the opportunity to talk about that as well. you will regret this
so my Project™ (because everyone on tumblr has a Project™, no?) is a hypothetical series of video games that i intend on making some time in the near future revolving around a galaxy known as veritia (hence the title, veritian legends). the first of these games stars the character i've kinda adopted as my sona, varent:
Tumblr media
(↑ this is the ref anon was talking about, btw)
varent's whole deal that gets them the main character schtick (and leads into the plot of their first adventure) is that they're picked by the queen of the gods to go after these cool relics that she created at some point, mainly because the main antagonists (team working for the goddess of the ether, basically the physical manifestation of chaos) are trying to get the crystal artifacts first for their own nefarious purposes
as for what they're like as a person, that's kinda touched on in the lil bio thing — they're a good kid at heart, they just happen to put up the front of a jackass most of the time (at least in the beginning). a lot of their time is spent tinkering with stuff in their cousin's workshop (which is also where they work up until their first quest starts), taking part in fighting tournaments around their home world of zolara, and generally just being a lil weirdo
sorry a lot of that was more worldbuilding than character stuff but i wasn't really sure what to touch on beyond elaborating on the stuff from the refsheet lol

I'm entirely unfamiliar with your OCs. If you could introduce them and the setting they're in, though, I'll for sure read it! Tomorrow, though. I stayed up way too late being ultimately unsuccessful in a video game because of the poor choices part of my brain (which is the entire darn brain)
Tumblr media
ough i am so so sorry for only getting to this now, i kept blanking whenever i tried to write but ive been having so much brainrot abt this oc all day that i need to talk abt her
This is Rose!!

(There's two picrews bc picrew is inherently very limited but I tried my best. Her facial structure and hairstyle in the second pic is more accurate, while the first pic has the right skin tone and actually shows off her personality a little.)
She's 21, 4'10, and infected with a demonic parasite that gives her super speed. I haven't really decided on the details of her backstory, but she was basically just constructed by some sort of godly force to use as a host, and then plopped onto Earth. Which happens to be a post-apocalyptic wasteland lmao
Humanity has been reduced to just about 100 small gangs, all of which are constantly scavenging, surviving, and fighting for territory. Rose happens to be part of a group called Target Practice (bc they suck really fucking bad). There's a lot more to the world than that but that's all the context you need for Rose.
She's very loud, bubbly, excitable, cocky, and comically stupid. She either has no awareness or just doesn't care about how other people percieve her; all that matters is that she and her close friends are having fun. This means she takes any opportunity she can to crack a joke because of that, no matter how stupid or crude it is. It's the epitome of "pinhead dipshit"
As for likes/dislikes/hobbies, she's a huge fan of pop and rock music and loves to sing whenever she has free time. She also likes exercising a lot, especially since the parasite provides her with a shit ton of stamina so she doesn't really get tired from running around. To top it off, she's a huge gun nut and loves to collect/shoot/nerd out about guns. No I'm not projecting at all shut up
It can get super fucking hot in the wasteland sometimes and she never gets used to it, much to the chagrin of everyone else. Rose gets really whiny and annoying about it, and she's basically bound to her room until the heat wave passes, which she also hates because she's hyper and energetic and NEEDS to move. This also happens with rain, but it's much easier since she doesn't get sweaty and the sound of rain is relaxing to her. (There's no nuclear winter btw)
That's about it for now! I'm probably forgetting a shit ton and I'm intentionally leaving out the worldbuilding because this post is just supposed to be about her, but if you have any questions at all, don't be afraid to ask. please 🥺

Hey Sol. I've seen some of your Winx Reignited content and I am loving it. I especially love what you did with Charmix, as I love the outfits and find them to be both pretty and cute.
Anyways, I was wondering if I could ask you something about rewrite stuff. You see, I'm currently in my Ben 10 Reboot hyperfixation phase and, being an aspiring writer myself, am developing a fanfiction rewrite for the series called Ben 10 Reboot Reimagined (though I should note that it's possible that the fanfic's name could change in the future). It's currently in its early development stage (as I have a wip for the rewrite's premiere + a notebook (which is fittingly green given that's the main color of Ben 10 himself) talking about my rewritten fanfic au) and I'm having some trouble with planning things out for the rewrite itself. So, I thought maybe I could ask you for some rewrite advice given you've posted ideas of your Winx rewrite on your blog (which are great btw).
Do you have any advice & tips on how to plan a rewrite out (ex. episodes (rewritten or fanmade), worldbuilding, arcs (plot & character-related), characters (including ocs & self-inserts), etc) from experience with your Winx Reignited project?
Feel free to respond back to me whenever you get the chance. Thank you and have a wonderful day/afternoon/night. 🤗💕❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖💕🤗
Hiii
First I would like to state i’m kinda bad at advice but i’ll try to explain how my rewrite is kinda in development
I don’t really view the story episode by episode I mostly view it story point by story point so all the filler already kinda falls out so you are left with the more basic straightforward plot. So that you can later ad in own filler and character moments.
With some parts you might wanna stick closer to the canon while with other parts you might wanna completely redo them depending on like plo5 holes and inconsistencies
Mos5 important factor is to make it so it stays enjoyable to work on
Some characters might be more the focus of your ideas while others aren’t and that’s no problem sometimes the chats weren’t even canonicaly important and they still end up becoming your favorite!
Some elements can feel more like a puzzle that was put together in a way that doesn’t really make sense so it’s good to try and have a look at what points you can alter/move/remove to make the story flow better
And sometimes you get 1 small idea and it ends up magically fixing stuff and sometimes you gotta look back and see if then things you added were also affected and how to change it.
I hope this helps ?!

Yesss ask game time: 25, 41, 78
Thank you so much for your patience Vex!!!! Here’s the first round of answers for you:
25. What’s your favorite part of the writing process (worldbuilding, brainstorming/outlining, writing, editing, etc)?
My favorite parts are probably the ones that feel the most good, and for me there are two main ones: the first is when I start the writing process on new a project (often I’m pantsing so no outlining here baby) and I’m brimming with ideas so oftentimes I’ll end up writing 2-3k in a day… the prose I write at this point usually only ends up requiring minimal edits because it’s all so clear in my head and I feel powerful & accomplished haha. Of course that tapers off eventually and then the rest of the draft will be a lot of messy throwing spaghetti at the wall and will require a lot of tedious editing to clean up and it’s the worst. But then that’s where that second favorite part of the process comes in: once I finish untangling the rough draft and I have a second draft done, that’s when I start to feel much better about the project again, since usually that first pass involves a lot of cringing 😂 So being able to see that light at the end of the tunnel and watching it all finally click into place feels GREAT! Finishing the thing? Best feeling ever!!
41. Who’s your favorite character you’ve written?
In the last meme I answered a similar question, but I think I’ll be more specific this time:
I really loved writing Erwin in The Upper Hand because it was fun to depict him calmly going along with all this weird fucked up shit but since he’s such a cool badass and has a guy like Levi who trusts him intrinsically, all he has to do to win is watch his opponents fall on their own swords. It’s fun to write such a cunning character (even if I just do it for dumb horny shit so in this instance cunning mostly just means shameless haha.)
I said last time I love writing Achilles, particularly his complex emotional state in Where The Dead Forget, but I also enjoyed making him more awful and self-centered in Closest To My Heart. Writing Patroclus & the unstable, erratic mess that he is in Closest To My Heart was probably my singular most fun writing experience to date, period 😂
78. What motivates you during the writing process?
Knowing that the downs will be followed by ups if I keep at it with patience and persistence. Reminding myself that it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Early on in my writing endeavors, a friend of mine sent a graphic that perfectly sums up the process, and I keep it on my phone home screen and it’s my “hang in there, baby!” motivational poster equivalent 😂 For my longfic specifically, my dream is to make a bound copy of the finished work for myself, just so I can have something physical that I Made on my shelf… so hopefully that’ll be the carrot that will entice me to make it all the way 😤🔥
Here’s my motivational graphic btw:

12, 19, and 24 for the writers ask please :)
Hi!!! Thanks for the ask!
12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules
I wish to find the will to finish my novel and my short story collection
I wish that every time I sat down to write, inspiration would come and words would flow
I wish original descriptive language came more easily to me
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
I've been writing (or at least trying to write) since I was really little. I remember being around six years old and creating little "books" from construction paper and ribbons at my grandmother's house, and then filling them with little stories. When I was ten or eleven I discovered fanfiction.net, and shortly after that I started writing god-awful fanfics. When I was in ninth grade I wrote my first attempt at a novel in three of those pretty $5 notebooks you can buy at Barnes & Noble. Shortly after that, I created this blog and continued to write god-awful fanfiction for a variety of fandoms. In college I took some workshop-style writing classes, which I really enjoyed. During my junior year, I won a prize in my college's writing contest for a short story I wrote, and the next year that story was a finalist in a contest run by an MFA program at another university. In 2020, I got a different short story published in a literary magazine, after being turned down by a lot of other ones. If money weren't a factor, I would have tried to pursue an MFA in fiction, but since it is, I had to go to grad school for something more practical. Now writing is just a hobby for me, and I mostly write fanfiction, but part of me still hopes to get a book published someday.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
It honestly depends on the story. There are some stories I can sit down and draft in an afternoon, but others require a lot more prep. For my fantasy novel draft, I have a planning document with ten pages of notes on the worldbuilding lore and characters. For some fanfics, I've created mood boards to help ground my descriptions and establish the vibe of the stories. For others, I rewatch certain scenes or episodes from the source material to try and get characterization and relationship dynamics down (I did a lot of this for The Successor). I enjoy this prep work, if only because it allows me to procrastinate, and I think it allows me to go into a writing project with more focus than I would otherwise.

my tags wasn't enough, i had more than 30 tags worth of things to say about worldbuilding and food (feel free to read said tags in past reblog, aka it's this post's "previous tags" which hopefully you know the process to get to that) but i will restrain myself of truly babbling as much as i really want — for instead the following:
i will repeat that worldbuilding = culture, and culture = food, what are meals here, how many meals are here, where do the ingredients come from, how does seasons impact what you can eat, what do they eat for birthdays, etc + clothes, what silhouettes and types of fashion are here, where do they get these outfits' materials (livestock? plants? dyes?), what special occasion outfits are there or is there any regalia to occupation/type of dancing/age/etc, how do outfits change with seasons + so on and so forth
here is a great youtuber who has a playlist analyzing world-building, and it can include things like food. my favorite video from this playlist is for the show "Ascendance of a Bookworm" (yes, the playlist is linked as part of this video btw) which does specifically go into food (as do other videos within said 10-video-long playlist. another video within the playlist is "Dungeon Meshi" which is very much about food). please watch as much of the playlist as you like! another video of his about worldbuilding, that is not in this playlist, is about "Castle In The Sky"'s worldbuilding as shown in that intro-instrumental bit of the film specifically (a movie my brain farted and called "Nausicaä: Valley Of The Wind" in my tags before, iGNORE THAT)
and here is another great youtuber. his entire channel is largely about "how to write" and various aspects of worldbuilding. but i do want to mention that this conversation is biased towards Hard Worldbuilding, evidentally, and he has some videos that are in support of softer worldbuilding too (which, my memory could be off, but i dont think he gets into food often? but an example of Soft Worldbuilding and food would be how idk how the fuck Chihiro/the spirits has access to food in "Spirited Away", they just kind of begin and end with a vague ✨️magic food✨️ vibe about how these are meals for the dead, but the soft worldbuilding there not including how they source this food is not bad worldbuilding at all). it's best, in terms of mind-set, to have different types of worldbuilding for different projects in my opinion
In Defense of Soft Magic Systems
Hard Worldbuilding vs. Soft Worldbuilding | A Study of Studio Ghibli
and this is in regards to stories outside of fantasy period-pieces as well. like, "Coraline" for example is VERY fascinating to analyze in respects to food. both what Coraline eats, what the Other Mother eats (or rather doesn't eat), what the Other Father eats (he is starving, always), what foods are available to who and when; and that is a story that takes place in modern-day and has some pretty restrained fantasty elements as part of the Other Mother's powers and whatnot
but even things like "this character never cooks, only orders out or eats other people's homemade food or eats leftovers" can say a lot about the individual (doesn't take good care of themself, or doesn't have the time or energy to, may have been neglected as a child from learning this life-skill, could be a lot of reasons why they can't cook), even if the character themself is from a culture that has a rich history with food
i will admit some cultures have a more restrained history with food, like Indigenous Americans' intertribal culture (which, hi, hello, i am one such Indigenous American) has a semi-strained, semi-loving relationship with frybread. bc it's not a "cultural"-food, it's a survival food. it's a food that was invented bc people were starving, forced into bottlenecks of limited, unfamiliar ingredients due to us being forced into reservations and militant forces not allowing us access to trade for other ingredients on these lands that yielded poor crops and limited to no livestock. as a result, frybread is super unhealthy. (though some Indigenous American chefs have worked to make healthier varieties now) but also frybread is a cheap, easy food to make that celebrates that we survived a time when people tried to kill us via starvation, but it also is a symbol of said starvation attempt as it was a food that was only created to help its people survive rather than as an expression of culture. hence, a relationship with a piece of food that is semi-strained, semi-loving. so that is an irl example of how food can be a cultural yet not-cultural yet also a history-informing item
so, if you want to read me praising the fuck out of Hard Worldbuilding including meals and how the implications even of something as simple as "this culture eats lots of beef" can be unfolded, read my past reblog's notes. but also, Studio Ghibli does really Soft Worldbuilding masterfully, and also mentions food here and there throughout their films, while not always explaining where it comes from (i think "Howl's Moving Castle" is one such example, as Sophie goes to a market to buy food for said moving castle's residents at one point. but, again, where the spirits import food (besides pigs, i guess) into the bathhouse for its workers, guests, and Chihiro to eat is beyond me). and neither worldbuilding method is superior than the other, i just have more to say about the One That Inherently Requires More Self-Questioning than the other, evidently. but food is an excellent way to show, not only culture (or survival) within said worldbuilding, but an individual's personality (eg. the Can't Cook aforementioned example), relationships (eg. aforementioned "Coraline" example), or emotional state (eg. in "Spirited Away", when Chihiro cries while eating her food because it's the first moment she has been able to safely process what has been happening to her, and the food tastes so good and was a kind gift, and she us just so overwhelmed and sad), and so much more
i think, overall, it is best to have stuff match. as in, if you have a hard magic-system, then you probably should map out and source your food in similar levels of detail for your own reference, even if it may never show in the narrative, just so you can be consistent. and then, if you have a soft magic-system, it'd be wise to have a similarly soft worldbuilding relationship with food. your audience expects hard worldbuilding with hard magic-system, and soft worldbuilding with soft magic-systems. i cant think off the top of my head of any examples where we get a juxtaposition of hard/soft that ends up with a well-polished story audiences love. and if you dont have a magic-system for the worldbuilding to reflect, then have the worldbuilding reflect similarly to what your story does examine. like, "Pulp Fiction" is soft towards what is in the suitcase, and similarly has a soft worldbuilding and explatory attitude towards its cast of characters, and it's also pretty soft about what the characters eat and drink being sourced from where (the most famous is probably the coffee lol), which fits as it's in contemporary LA and you assume most food there comes from similar places as your food does irl but no one knows for sure, but there's still an interesting relationship to food to follow within this film and whatnot
edit: i finally thought of a story that does a mix of Hard as well as Soft Worldbuilding, and luckily enough the example includes food in its story and that would be "Over The Garden Wall" (spoilers ahead). it has a ridiculously heavy amount of research put into it, from the fashion and architecture to the very doorknobs, and it does both explain and not explain its world as the Unknown is both real and not as it was a type of limbo of "Dante's Inferno" that Greg and Wirt experienced when they were almost drowned to death. it is the only story i can think of where arguably what happened within it was "just a dream" yet that ending doesn't make people unhappy this time around; i think because there is a real feeling of "they could've died if they didn't escape the Unknown, so the stakes were real, they had an arc, this story still matters". and, to me, i think the Hard Worldbuilding is the reality within the world— like the fashions, doorknobs, Wirt and Greg's hometown, as we later see evidence of characters in the Unknown having tombstones and the like in the Wirt and Greg's hometown, there is pieces of reality that carried over beyond death and into the Unknown— whereas the Soft Worldbuilding was the fantastical elements, like the anthromorphic animals, Adelaide's magic, the bluejay curse, the Beast, the pumpkins and skeletons, the lantern, and so on that do not have a real-life equivalent. and one thing that does have a real life equivalent is food, almost all the food in this show is real, even if i wouldnt personally wish potatoes and molasses on my worst enemy. i'll sooner slurp a turtle, like the dog and Auntie Whispers. but also Endicott's food and the tavern food looks so good. but, yeah, we really don't know anything about where these real-life meals are sourced other than that they are real foods you could theoretically make yourself (like Endicott is not eating mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, and some kind of sliced meat like ham), but the one fantasy meal that is those turtles has soooo much mystery surrounding them that it is nigh-infamous how much the creator dodges questions about those lil turts lol so!! if you do want to mix Hard and Soft Worldbuilding, just do so thoughtfully and have there be a consistent and clear line. for OTGW, that's putting a ton of hard-research into real-life, historic equivalents within the Unknown to Wirt and Greg's hometown juxtaposed with extremely soft fantasy elements of the Unknown unexplained as there is no magical equivalent in Wirt and Greg's hometown. consistency, consistency, indeed lol
anyway, hope the free resources help ✌️ thanks for letting me yap about why you should let your characters eat and also maybe pay attention to what they eat lol

i know I’ve been working on my drag gods project, but i rlly wanna get back to my old queer space pirates novel idea. putting as much worldbuilding as i can under the cut about it bc i want to!!
like the main protag is an autistic trans man (who eventually becomes comfortable with presenting more gnc) that goes back to a destroyed earth (humans have already colonized parts of the Milky Way by then), which was abandoned because of climate change and an exchange of nukes, to research old human culture and how the environment is recovering.
what he finds there tho, is an agender alien (i know i know, it’s a stereotype), in a universe where aliens have NOT been confirmed to exist so it shouldn’t even be there, who somehow ended up there and lives alone on earth. they have no idea how they even got there in the first place, but they’d been living there for some time, and has tried to study what human culture was like bc they thought that humans were extinct, and immediately latches onto the protag. so the protag and his crew of misfit queers make it their mission to teach them about human culture and how to blend in with human society.
so now that he has an alien, the fascist government that has been searching for aliens for ages, eventually finds out and wants his crew imprisoned for hiding them, and wants the protag for his own personal reasons which I’ll get to in a bit. so the whole plot is them trying to evade government forces throughout the galaxy while trying to climb their way up the space pirate ladder, which is predominately full of crews of poor, queer rebels who are just truing to make it through life alive and are building their ranks of rebels to hopefully, one day be enough in numbers to overthrow the government. so they have to build an untraceable communication network to organize everyone under, which the protag’s whole crew and him are one of the crews tasked with establishing in the more ‘rural’ planets (like the ones on the outskirts of different solar systems). also, I’ll get to the main crew in another post, and the protag is named Ray btw
space fascist guy will be talked about in a character post, but there’s some small stand alone pieces in this universe that are about how all of this effects trans ppl in this. like this is hundreds of years into the future, right? u would think that transitioning is pretty much not a thing bc u could just get a custom robot body, right? nope. bc it’s astronomically expensive and only the ultra elite can afford them, therefore making them functionally immortal bc their brains are already downloaded into the next body. old school medical transitioning is so far out of affordability for about half of the population, the poor mostly, bc there’s no such thing as a middle class at this point, it’s all the poor and the ultra rich with no mid point. so the rebels, as a collective, use the space pirates to steal hormones and associated medical equipment for surgical transition to distribute to the people. even so, it’s still fairly hard to come by for most trans people.
there’s a small piece I wanna do about Ray, the protag, pretty much being raised by a collective of queer and trans punks along with their homemade robots (basically to be a friend and comfort to young queer ppl and to help them raise orphans). his mother tried to raise him, but she just couldn’t deal with her child being different AND her husband being the leader of their planetary rebellion therefore never being home AND him taking his son with him on non dangerous missions once in a while. Ray learns all about building things with scraps and rusty old stuff from the punks, and how to restore ancient (aka our current era of humanity) earth machines and also to become one hell of a haggler and how to cheat the government. idk I just thought it’d be a cute lil thing for his character and the general worldbuilding.

13, 14, and 15 for the ocverse ask game!
13.) how long have you been working on this project? what has changed from the outset?
ive been working on refactoring since july of 2019 so its coming up on 4 years here soon! its actually crazy looking back at how small the scope was when i was first putting things together vs how big it is now ;__; the biggest patch notes i think are basically just 1. the characters have changed SO much and are way more solidified in my mind which is awesome and 2. the worldbuilding is just like... not even something i imagined ever being capable of. like. if i went back in time and told my past self about vitium i think their jaw would just drop because i have always been so insecure when it comes to worldbuilding but i actually have like a WORLD now... its so neat i honestly give so much credit for all the growth thats happened to the fact that like, my friends let me infodump about my brain guys all the time and give me their own brain thoughts about them in return. its so helpful and also so appreciated and i love my friends so much btw if you even care
14.) whats your favorite part of this story/project?
the thing about refactoring is that in its entirety it is so catered to me. so the entirety of it is my favorite thing ever and i am very autistic about it <3 in GENERAL? my favorite thing is all of the characters obviously. but just the STORY as in the actual plot? chapter 3 (the gang gets roped into a speedrunning tournament) and chapter 4 / 5 depending on how i plot it out (undercover party plotline but it is so much more than that) are tied for 1st place in that department
15.) how/through which format is it told? (ie webcomic, video game, books etc)
it will be a webcomic! :] (once i get over my perfectionism. gary i need to write my fucking comic)
