oooo im curious, who do u think in bts would like hug their stomach/rub their own belly/generally touch their stomach when its upset vs who wouldnt? i know some ppl who dont and more just curl up (aka me lol) or who want belly rubs from someone else

oo, lets get into it. 

Honestly, I think it’s extremely hard not to touch your stomach when it’s hurting or upset, so I think all of them would reach for their middle in some kind of way, but some would be more open than discreet about it. 

I think jin, jimin, taehyung, and hoseok would be the vocal “rub my tummy” gang while the rest (jungkook, namjoon, and yoongi) would love a tummy rub, but wouldn’t dare ask for one themselves. 

If Jin’s in the comfort of his own home, his hand will stay on his belly (his favorable way to take the edge off the cramps) and he’ll mope around until he finds someone to demand some comfort from. The discomfort is always enough to make the eldest moan sadly into someone’s shoulder while he curls around the warm hand that presses under his own into his stomach. 

Jimin is a pitiful ball on the couch or floor or bed when his stomach’s giving him trouble. He’s quiet, save for maybe a few soft hisses if a wave of pain or nausea floods through. He prefers not to move, so if he’s in public, he’ll hunch forward and try to hide the discomfort, but his face and his posture will give him away. At home, in his miserable ball with his arm locked around his stomach, he’ll shoot Taehyung or Hoseok a text to come to him if he’s alone. He’ll take anyone’s available lap to curl up onto, hug their torso and his his face into their chest while they rub his back. Any ounce of tactile comfort is Jimin’s most effective medicine. 

Taehyung is whiny in the most wholesome way when his stomach’s upset. In public he’s a total champ, to the point where staff could tell him “it’s okay, taehyung, we know you don’t feel well, take it easy” and he’d still give 100%. At home, he’s shuffling around, practically right up under whoever’s closest and begging for them to rub his stomach. He likes the slow, rhythmic circles, not too fast to agitate the organ and light enough on his sick belly. It can lull him to sleep. He will shamelessly hike his hand up under his shirt if he needs to comfort himself. 

Hobi vooooccalll when he’s in distress. Very moany and breathy. It don’t matter where that boy is. And his hand will find itself under his shirt in a constant circular motion until he’s home where he can get someone else to do it. Hoseok is already a touchy person, so it’s no different when he’s sick. He’ll have his hands comforting himself as someone else is also comforting him. 

Namjoon won’t try to give himself away whether he’s in public or at home. He’ll hide away in his room and curl under his blankets in bed with a hot pad or a pillow to shove into his gurgling middle. He will say he’s fine if someone asks him if he’s feeling okay, but if any of the members take it upon themselves to try to soothe him, he will not object. He’ll turn into putty in their arms; it’s like he’s been dying for someone to do it--but he won’t ask for it. 

Yoongi is the exact same way as Namjoon. Won’t ask or try to show it and will try to handle it on his own, but by golly he loves the comfort--give that boy all the touches! 

Jungkook is honorary in this “won’t ask won’t show will handle” gang--he’s really bout 50/50. Depending how bad he feels, he’ll either let someone know and openly show it, or he’ll keep to himself. Most of the time, though, he won’t outwardly say he wants someone to rub his stomach when it’s upset. Instead, he’ll just grab someone’s hand and place it on his belly himself. He owns his hyungs, after all ;)

yoonie has had that uncomfortable-looking leather couch for FOREVER. i can’t even imagine how often he sleeps there, poor thing 🥺

thinking of him falling asleep at the studio one night to wake up in the early, early morning hours confused, feverish, and sticky with sweat and utterly upset at how sore and uncomfortable he was from sleeping on the couch on top of the fever aches. how he wakes up and for a second doesn’t really know where he is because isn’t he supposed to be in bed? why does he feel so bad?

calling a bandmate at 4am to come pick him up because he’s so shaky he doesn’t thing he can drive. wincing as he peels his sweaty skin from the leather of the couch. he’s hurting so bad, both from the fever and sleeping on that damned couch.

the maknae trying to get him to replace it with something more comfortable, even a futon, because hyung you sleep there so often, you’re going to hurt your back/neck/muscles/etc.

can we talk about sickie jungkook? 🤔

Yes, let’s talk about sickie kook.

We know kookie not to be the one to show much of what he’s feeling if he thinks it will negatively affect his hyungs. And we also know him to get so wrapped up in whatever he’s doing that he doesn’t notice how his body’s feeling until he’s worse off.

But once he’s helpless to sickness, he doesn’t have the energy to fight off all the coddling, and he rather likes it once it’s happening. Healthy kook is independent and even feisty to affection, but sick kookie is clingy and afraid of being alone.

Pallets of thick padded mattress toppers and piles of fresh laundered blankets are a must when it’s time to sleep. He’ll burrow his face into the fabric while sandwiched by two of his hyungs, ideally some combination between hobi, jimin, and jin.

There’s always something about Yoongi’s calm voice that puts him most at ease if he’s vomiting. Yoongi never makes the ordeal seem as much of a big deal as everyone else does. Jungkook tends to panic when he vomits because it’s not usually a one-and-done process for him. Once he gets started, it’s violent and it’s copious. It freaks hoseok out and it puts jimin so on edge that he usually has to run and get someone else, so the energy puts jungkook’s nerves in an internal frenzy.

Every member has something he loves about them specifically when he isn’t well: Jin’s forehead kisses and his famous rice porridge. Namjoon’s voice rumbling in his ear against the leader’s chest. Jimin’s constant doting and ever-soft murmuring voice. Tae’s trailing fingers along his back and arms, his hypnotizing lullabies. Yoongi’s calm reassurances and tried-and-true remedies. Hobi’s sweet pet names and professional cuddles.

ugh i'd have to dig up the clip, i'm sure if you look up "jungkook in pain at award show" on youtube you'll find one of two clips i know of where he's hugging his stomach/one of them he's patting his chest, he was NOT shy about that grimace :') but even with the hot sorbet way back in rookie king he was hugging his stomach and moaning without a care in the world

I knew about the hot sorbet bit—I always feel bad for him in that clip. He was so young there too 🥺 there’s a little fix out there on the aftermath, cuz you know you were wondering how he must’ve felt after the filming.

I’m sure kook gets stomach aches a lot, he just tends to handle them on his own. That one time on vlive where he said he doesn’t eat late must’ve been his little wake up call that he needs to take it easy with his late night indulgences. It must’ve been really bad for him to decide to cut back like that—the tummy wasn’t havin it.

an upset tummy wouldn’t get in the way of joonie’s work at first; he’d put up a good fight. it would start as an annoyance, a noisy gurgle here and a sharp whine there, shooting across his middle and making him press into it--that’s when he’d notice he’s pretty bloated, but he’s too focused on his laptop to be concerned. he’d fidget like crazy though, tapping his foot feverishly or patting his knees. 

time passes and his lunch is still sitting like a stagnant brick in his stomach, seemingly making no attempt to start breaking things down. that uncomfortable fullness that comes after eating but doesn’t usually stick around very long is still very much present, after an hour later, and it’s now settled in the back of his throat. 

he types with his swivel chair pushed back so he can be bent over. his stomach turns constantly and noisily as he reads over the same lyric. he smothers a few foreboding belches that taste a little too acidic to be normal. pressing an arm across his belly, he stares down at the wood grains of his desk to give himself a little breather before trying to concentrate again.

he doesn’t get far. that frustrates the hell out of him. he’d allotted himself this time to focus and he can do anything but. 

he gets up when his own attempts to rub his stomach just seems to nauseate him further. he’s just too heavy handed--he isn’t good at self soothing. 

joon would pace around the house and hover by someone until they offered him comfort, but he wouldn’t directly ask. he’d have his hand under his shirt and he’d look real pitiful. he likes it best when his hyung comes to bombard him with examining questions all the while pressing cool hands on his neck and forehead to feel for a possible temperature. namjoon tends to feel so much younger when jin cares for him like this. namjoon’s voice gets smaller around jin. he might even whine. 

namjoon would be putty in anyone’s arms when any of the members offer to rub his upset stomach. he’d shiver at the gentle touches along taut skin and try his hardest not to burp too loud when pressure is applied, but he won’t be able to help it. 

joon would probably sit through a whole movie in someone’s arms if they’d let him, but if his stomach starts to make him feel too sick, he’d reluctantly get up to sit over a toilet, and he wouldn’t let anyone come with him. 

i envision a bad upset belly from joon would involve a lot of trips alone from the bathroom and back to the couch or bed in someone’s arms, pouty and disappointed that productivity is lost and the members trying to reassure and cheer him up.

I want to talk about carsick Yoongi. Do you have any personal carsick Yoongi headcanons?

i feel like yoongi would have a lot of control over his carsickness. he’ll be the least likely to forget his meds and will be asleep for most of the drive. he has to be in control of it, because it gets so bad that he could delay their schedule; it could ruin things. his clothes, especially. and it might even start a chain with jimin and hoseok, as it has in the past. it’s been a messy ordeal a few times, and painfully embarrassing for yoongi. 

he’s really silent about it. He might voice that he’s worried how bad he might feel on a trip, or how he’s going to be affected by it, but it’s a murmur under his breath, at best. everyone knows that after yoongi leaves the vehicle, he needs some time to hide away by himself to lay down before one or two of the others goes to check on him to make sure he’s okay. usually, he can get through a long trip just feeling horrible without inevitably vomiting. like most things in yoongi’s life, he has it under control.

but on the occasions that he doesn’t… on the occasions it gets really bad…

some car trips are too short for yoongi to take something, and he can manage as long as the drive is smooth. but when it isn’t… when there’s sharp turns or bumpy roads or sudden brakes, yoongi’s head and stomach cannot deal.

the others know he’s going through it when he brings the mask from under his chin back over his face and his adam’s apple starts bobbing way too much. he’ll have his eyes closed, but he won’t be sleeping, and his shaky breathing will be heard past the hand covering his mouth. 

when the nausea is strong, his body is too overwhelmed to handle comfort, but he wishes he could be comforted, because he’s never not liked the affection of his member’s hands. 

hoseok knows pinching the back of yoongi’s neck won’t make yoongi recoil. He’ll even let someone rub their thumb into the top of his hand (he’ll squeeze them back weakly to reassure). 

someone will hand him a bag that he’ll gratefully take. he’ll continue to breathe slow even though each full breath is clipped short by the tightness in his throat. 

he’ll hold back everything if it’s the last thing he’ll do. every quiet burp is swallowed back immediately and the added pressure swirls unhappily in his time bomb of a stomach. the hiccups make no sound, just makes his chest jump and pull his eyebrows together. 

when it gets this bad, there’s no way out of being violently sick, but he’ll always try to wait to get out of the car because it’s highly unlikely a flimsy bag will stay intact with the force of his projectile vomiting. And with how desperately he holds back, it’s promised it won’t be pretty.

yoongi recovers fast if he’s allowed a quick nap before getting going with their activities. the boys will help clean him up and get him water to sip on. someone will place a cool damp folded paper towel on his forehead while he lays down in the dark and one of the maknaes will come in after a while to spoon him and slowly wake him up.

he’ll look like death warmed over for a lil bit, but if you ask him, he’s okay. :3

dunno about anyone else, but muscle relaxants make me nauseous and dizzy af (i take them legally and safely ofc).

but really I am in love with the idea of a character being sick from a medication that they absolutely need to function. they know there’s a good chance of it making them vomit or feel sick, but there’s no way around it.

a character with an injury taking prescribed painkillers accidentally on an empty stomach without realising it. waking up from sleep to vomit immediately upon opening their eyes.

a character taking ssris or something else for their mental health and it always makes them feel sick. they’re feeling particularly anxious when it’s time to take them and it causes them to lose the battle against the nausea.

a character feeling super loopy when they take their meds along with dizzy. they take it after a big meal and somehow that just makes it all worse as the dizziness makes them lose all the food they ate. plus, they’re so loopy and out of it that they don’t know they’re gonna vomit until they’re already being sick.

a character doesn’t really feel sick from their meds, but it does make them dizzy and overheated. they take some while feeling nauseous and it pushes them over the edge.

really, there’s just so much potential here.

I have a soft spot for Jeongguk with long hair. By soft spot I mean mortal weakness. It is my literal Achilles heel. It’s right next to my sweet spot of Yoongi with long hair and mullet tae

Imagine his hair falling into his face as he’s sick, someone holding it back to keep it out of the way. Once he catches a break, they pull it up in a messy bun for him even though his hair is mostly drenched it sweat.

Vomiting while trying to tuck his hair behind his ears before someone finally finds a Bobby pin to hold it back. Or, better yet, cute and colourful hair clips.

Someone running their fingers through his hair later in the night, trying to coax him to sleep, scratching gentle circles on his scalp through the thick strands.

Getting overheated with a fever and hating the feeling of his hair on his neck and how warm it makes him feel. Tying it up into a little ponytail.

And - hear me out - someone putting his hair in a French braid to keep it out of his face once and for all, because the man buns and Bobby pins keep letting strands slip through.

Any headcanons about jungkook as a sickie and as a caregiver ?

(i made it a little too long oops so i have to put a read more)

-as a sickie, i feel like he’s stubborn - to a point. he’s all denial until he starts feeling really bad or until the hyungs notice and start being extra sweet and caretaker-y to him.

-to anyone outside of the boys, though, he’s always “completely fine” and shy about admitting to how he’s feeling.

-super cuddly when he’s sleeping.

-even when it’s known that he’s not feeling well, he’ll try and do things himself because he’s embarrassed when the hyungs start to baby him.

-at times he gets really frustrated and teary when he can’t work and especially when he can’t perform - it’s a real task to cheer him up when he has to miss a concert.

-baby names are the window to his soul - that helps break down that tough exterior. 

-sleeps a ton when sick, but never very deeply so he’s left exhausted for a while even after he’s recovered.

-would rather vomit than have a sore throat/cough.

-kind of clingy but pretends not to be.

-good at taking medicine when it’s offered to him but when left to his own devices he won’t take any. like ever. he also forgets to eat as much as he should bc often being sick kills his appetite. that, and he’s usually tired and can’t sleep after he eats.

-generally obedient unless he’s feeling super bad.

-doesn’t even know what carsickness is, that fucker. jimin is jealous.

-when he gets food poisoning, relatively little vomiting. when he gets stomach viruses, he goes all fucking out. it goes 0 to 100 real quick

-rhinitis flare-ups all the time. extremely sensitive to smells and allergies. colds at least semi-often

-usually strong, but fevers & throwing up leave him weak and worn-out

caretaker gguk is something I cherish with all of my whole heart

-the sweetest. just a baby bunny. so cute it’s just tooth-rotting sweetness.

-just “hyung? 🥺”

-kind of scared and doesn’t know what he’s doing at least half the time. nervous he might get things wrong or mess up.

-follows what his hyungs have done for him in the past.

-hates it when his hyungs are hurting or sick. makes him very sad and quiet.

-goes a little bit overboard sometimes but it’s always well-received.

-carries his hyungs around, helps them stand, changes their clothes, just typical muscle bunny stuff.

-likes to cuddle them during the night.

-if they have a headache or cold or are too overheated, he’ll drive them around in his car with the windows rolled down a crack to help them get fresh, cool seoul air. is extra gentle and slow when driving.

-makes a lot of tea.

-will give them the other members’ clothes to dress in, most of the time his own.

-will stay up all night with the sickie and read to them or watch YouTube with them until they fall asleep.

-sings them to sleep.

-massages their sore muscles in the best way possible.

-lots of playing with their hair.

-will offer his chest or thighs as a pillow.

-just a fucking babie i’m obsessed

-diligently checks their fever and changes the cool cloth (sometimes a little too much)

-fiercely protective. if he feels like they are being mistreated in any way shape or form that nice, charismatic ggukie is gone. even if it’s another member.

I wish every single fic had caretaker gguk. i would pass away.

OK, I need to tell someone and you seem about the right person: you know ON's choreo, right? When at the end they put their arms around each other? It's a strenous choreo, too. Imagine Yoongi collapsing as the performance ends, when they're still like that, Jimin and Jungkook quick to grab him before he actually hurts himself but he's basically a dead weight. A... scenario.

oh my god, what a thought. and yoongi went HARD in this choreo, like, with a whole front in center solo part in the break down--i was TOOK. did you SEE him??? 

it would be hard for yoongi to recover from choreo like that. yoongi will silently soldier through practices without complaint. but his limbs are screaming and his heart is pounding and salty sweat drips down his forehead and keeps getting in his eyes. he’ll probably never sign up for this again (i wonder what made yoongi so adventurous as to agree to have a whole active dance solo like the one he had. it was seriously some A+ Stomp the Yard on these hoes type ish. i was like “yoongi is that YOU???) 

4 practice run-throughs of “ON” in the dance studio and everyone is tired, but no one’s limbs seem to be trying to give out like his almost does when he spins and drops down, kicks back up. and it isn’t just that--he sees spots when he jumps back up this time, an odd sensation of heat flooding his head and clouding his vision. just for a split second. but it’s okay. he’s fine now. 

jimin and jungkook notice themselves carrying more of yoongi’s weight each time they gather at each other’s arms for the final ending pose. it seems like the easiest part of the choreo, the end, but it isn’t. he’s panting. his heart is pounding through your chest, but he has to hold his stance until the cameras get a good shot. yoongi wants to tip his head back to get more air in his lungs, but he can’t even do that. 

but then they reach the 5th time, and yoongi’s legs don’t want to hold him anymore. “yoongi hyung?--hyung!” is both jungkook and jimin in unison as the rapper pulls them down, sudden deadweight as yoongi’s head droops forward. the boys instantly crowd around him, a frenzy of panic and concern even as yoongi wearily assures everyone he’s fine, he just. . . lost his balance for a second. doesn’t stop everyone from watching him more closely from now on. 

ever since, jungkook has a stronger grip on yoongi and keeps an arm around his waist, both panting and connected at the hip as they walk across the room to sit down. someone else is at the ready with a water bottle for him and hoseok, despite his own fatigue and breathlessness, has busy hands massaging yoongi’s shoulders, telling him endlessly how proud of him he is, how cool he is. yoongi can’t not blush at those words. hobi thinks he’s cool? 

yoongi gives up telling everyone to worry about themselves because they won’t listen to him. instead, he tries not to show on his face how much he appreciates the way his members dote on him. 

i think more than ever, yoongi will need a good sleep after ON, periodt. whether it’s a practice or performance, a nap is in order, best believe. he makes sure he’s extra hydrated for this comeback and eats more frequently (since he burns more) to keep his energy up. i was blessed with a crazy amazing ticket for the Orlando concert this May, so i’ll be watching yoongi very closely myself hehe

STOMACH/BURP HEADCANON: JIMIN (2/7)

♡ itty body, large capacity, big bites and chipmunk cheeks.

♡ strong stomach for any food, sensitive stomach to motion.

♡ eats like he doesn’t have time. hobi and jin always teases him that he eats like he grew up with a house full of siblings. 

♡ finicky tae’s garbage disposal #2 (first being kook) around the clock--doesn’t mind it one bit.

♡ likes to trail fingers up and down his full belly when he has a chance to lounge around after eating. makes him sleepy.

♡ has particular favorites but will eat and appreciate whatever’s been put in front of him.

♡ will eat from your hands, or steal a bite.

♡  loooooooveeeeesss to be fed. 👏FEED👏THAT👏BOY👏

♡ needs your attention when he doesn’t feel good. your participation is not a choice. he will find you and he will lay his body over you. 

♡ will rub all up and whine at the back of his throat until you touch him, all “love me, pet me, hold me” until comforted. self soothing is pointless if someone’s in the vicinity. like, why rub my own tummy when there’s a hyung/dongsaeng who can do it for me?

♡ hiccupy baby: when drunk/tipsy, full, after eating too fast (which happens almost every time), before he’s sick--after he’s been sick, after long fits of laughter, when startled. . .etc. //cute, subtle, and chirpy hiccups most of the time---deep and heavy enough to jolt his whole body if he’s nauseous. 

♡ burps quietly. usually small enough to be contained without even opening his mouth. isn’t a very burpy individual, unless he’s not feeling well. motion sickness will swirl things up enough to make him burp pretty loudly. same if he’s nauseated for whatever reason. in those cases, they’ll be clear, throaty, and pretty wet. 

♡ talkative belly in general. isn’t embarrassed about it unless it’s upset. likes to make a joke out of it and pretend it has a personality to diffuse the awkward sound. cutely talks back to it--jin often plays along.

STOMACH/BURP HEADCANON: JIN (1/7)

♡ big appetite (handsome likes to eat!), fast metabolism, temperamental tummy. 

♡ eats more than the average male, but knows his limits. rarely overindulges unless he’s feelin’ wild (or drunk lol). always a horrible mistake if he does.

♡ has a really hard time burping (thus doesn’t burp very often) / body doesn’t work out gas very well  :(

♡ needs help to burp (patting/rubbing the chest or back, tummy rubs). tries to take care of it himself, but if he’s having a hard time, he’ll look for jimin because jimin is unjudging and ALWAYS available for gentle tummy rubs or some back patting or just a good cuddle. second choice would be hobi. 

♡ likes coffee. coffee doesn’t like him. drinks water in order to enjoy it without a gassy belly afterward. 

♡ too much water upsets his stomach (canonnnnn!) doesn’t try to guzzle much while practicing or doing concerts because it makes him gurgly and hiccupy. 

♡ suffers bad indigestion if he overeats (because it’s so hard to relieve himself)

♡ very vocal when in distress so will hide away to suffer alone. gets embarrassed if anyone hears him moan or hiccup or burp. 

♡ blushes profusely if his stomach makes noises that catch him off guard, even worse if anyone’s around because world-wide-handsome does not! dies inside if any bodily function is audible in public.

♡ burps are either one or the other. quiet and basically a hiccup, choked, strained and kind of painful, or gurgly, heady, and loud. usually always prompts a swallow because it took a lot of effort to dislodge. 

♡ gets burpy when nauseous and can’t help it. if jin’s burping on his own and they’re throaty and frequent, something’s wrong. handsome’s about to be sick. 

♡ feels entitled to barge into jimin’s room at any time for comfort.

seokjin hcs

hey! so since i don’t have anything out yet (i’m sorry) here are some hcs i’ve had for a while but haven’t posted yet. feel free to use them!

emeto hcs: 

mildly loud vomiter

pretty middle-ground sickness when he’s vomiting. it’s not super severe but he also can’t work through it. vomiting is also not violent, pretty toned-down, but not as calm as it could be

doesn’t get stomach sicknesses suuuuper often, but does sometimes. they can get really bad if they go on for long enough, especially if it’s food poisoning 

slow-build nausea that has him suffering for a while

loud stomach. it demands attention

fairly touchy with his stomach. will rub it a lot

Hiccups before/after vomiting and if he overeats

doesn’t have a preference between being sick in a bucket or in the bathroom (+has puked in the sink a few times)

usually makes it on time since he knows his limits well. unless he’s drunk. good luck cleaning everything up when when he gets wasted

can only control his nausea for so long before it gets the better of him

has only thrown up on yoongi and jeongguk. it’s a long story

semi-vocal. will groan against his will if stomach cramps are too bad and whimpers in his sleep

will usually stand bent over while vomiting, but will kneel if he’s too tired to stand

a lightweight but alcohol can make him really sick if he drinks enough of it

beer also makes him really bloated and burpy and miserable

doesn’t always want someone with him when he’s sick - it depends on how bad he feels

can count on one hand the number of times he’s ever been carsick

doesn’t burp a whole ton unless he’s sick or has been already

other hcs: 

head/chest colds a lot

migraines two or three times a year

gets sick fairly often but not a ton. pretty average immune system that does its job for the most part

super junky/greasy food messes his stomach up 

eats a  t o n  but that’s normal for him and he isn’t likely to overeat. he knows his limits well and only overeats if it’s his favorite food and he doesn’t want to waste any 

a flushed face + constant headache + sweating = a fever

gets sick from stress from time to time

super tired and kind of clingy with the older members when he’s not feeling great

has had pneumonia twice

would rather vomit than have a sore throat

doesn’t get easily embarrassed around the members; is only really flustered when he vomits around people he doesn’t know well (basically whoever isn’t one of the boys) 

fairly open when he’s sick - both to set an example and because he knows his limits well. the only exception is if he has to attend/do something that’s important to another member or if they’re nearly done with something (ie. one last concert, a couple more hours in the workday, one more fansign, a final vocal practice) which he makes himself push through. 

is a BITCH to take care of, though. he will not tolerate a n y t h i n g and wants to do everything himself 

likes long showers when he’s sick

if it’s bad enough, he won’t argue with whoever is taking care of him and will accept his fate

sleeps through a lot of it but still somehow wakes up early in the mornings

likes massages, belly rubs, the works - will probably ask for it 

usually goes to namjoon, yoongi, and hoseok
