I just finished BSD last week and this whole week I'm just scrolling through information about this and then. All I can say is Chuuya and Akutagawa stole my heart 💗 My gallery is full of them now I— I've had enough of myself for doing this. And yes I love Soukoku and Shinsoukoku of course like wth how am I supposed to ignore that. The love and hate relationships huhuuu, Akutagawa always threatening Jinko to kill him and also doing his best when working with him— my heart might just explode. Also Chuuya always saying he hates Dazai and always wanting to kill him but when someone hurts Dazai he's just like there and shouts his name worried oh my. And dead apple I— I really thought it was only a 1 ep like 24 mins like that, so I watched the whole movie thinking that it's only 24mins because I enjoy it sm LOL. Fav scene is when Chuuya uses his corruption to save Dazai and also trusting Dazai to save him, man I can't anymore with this two. And that scene where Chuuya can't move I'm wheezing what are you doing Dazaii, move it's my turn now. Just kidding LOL he can take Chuuya if he save him like— man ;(

Chuuya won't die right?!13?2! Like he's literally a GOD and he already experience harder challenges beside drowning, Chuuya don't let the water kill you pls my my I'm going to sob AAAAA. Okay I'm going to finish my research project if Chuuya is alive just kidding. But pls Chuuya, Dazai might have some plan to save him like I know he also cares for Chuuya despite of teasing him always pls pls pls. I'm not going to get mad at Dazai since Chuuya drowning is Fyodor's fault, if he didn't turn Chuuya into a vampire, that's not going to happen to him. But I am still wondering how Chuuya turn into a vampire like, he can avoid getting bitten with his ability? Who bit him? Who the heck bit him?! I really really really hope Chuuya will be able to get out of that room, I really feel bad when I saw his vampire face because he looks so exhausted ;(( Chuuya's a good boy why would they do that (个_个)

And for Akutagawa, the way he died man. And his line man, I hope he'll be resurrected or such, because if he died, what will happen to shinsoukoku, Dazai build that up y'knooww. He always threatens Atsushi, kill him or what but also ended up sacrificing himself to the tiger (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ And they're just so cute together but I am talking about the way he ended up slashed in his neck ;(( If anyone be hating Akutagawa— he spends his entire years to be acknowledge by Dazai because he has a lung disease so his time is running short, despite his efforts, he found Dazai already had Atsushi. That just hurts I really understand his position so much, as well for Atsushi. When Atsushi thinks he's not good enough or such, I really wanted to hug him, both of them needs a hug mannn. I really hope, pls let Akutagawa be resurrected uhhh that will change my view on life huhuu. Also the PM, Higuchi, the old man and Gin are already bitten. Tachihara got stabbed and slashed in his eyes, what is happening oh myyy. When I think of reading the manga, I was like "this one will make me comfortable at least" but noooo, I'm typing this now because it's a no no no. I hope they will get over this soon huhuu.

And about them in BSD wan, that is my comfort zone since I can avoid angst there LOL. My favorite part is when Akutagawa is sick and he called Atsushi in his full name instead of Jinko uuuu that's just so cute. And the way Atsushi observes Akutagawa if he'll keep his promise and there's a sign "beware of stalkers" LMAO. Akutagawa really is the man of his words huh I love that sm.

I just can't express how I love them sm rn I'm going to cry they're just too precious to exist. I really love how Chuuya helps other people and being probably the normal one in PM, in Hot spring cd everyone is having their own thoughts and Chuuya was like taking care each of them. He's such a good boy inside huhuuu that's enough talk for today, I'm having a breakdown and thankfully I manage to type this long I love them sm

akjdflkasjfkajdsfoiaejw fireflower i need you to know that when i opened tumblr & saw that i suddenly had five asks i was like “oh my god, what did i do wrong & who’s mad at me???” so seeing it was instead fangirling about bsd was quite a relief lol!!!!!!  for context, i just finished s2 (yes, i watched 24 episodes in the span of approx 3 days i am INHALING this show) but GOD i love dazai i love atsushi i love kyouka i love kenji i love alll of them i am going INSANE.  i know what you mean about parts of canon being iffy but i agree--i’ll carefully select the bits i like & disregard the rest bc the parts that are good are SO GOOD.  also YES i know that song and YES given dazai’s backstory it fits PERFECTLY i have so many emotions XD  i think i’m gonna do one more ep before bed tonight & try to finish the series tomorrow bc i am in turbo content consumption mode lol!!!!  feel free to dm me if you want to talk about the show (esp given that we are both found family aficionados the armed detective agency found family potential is SO GOOD) bc i’m going insane & would welcome the chance to scream about it with someone!!!!!!  thank you for sharing this excitement with me it really made me happy!!!!!! xo

like. like the thing is studio bones makes amazing animation, there's a reason its such a big studio. The art style is just. bad.

anyway gonna b taking jjk, banana fish, and yoi for MAPPA, bnha, mp100, and bsd for BONES and tbhk, dgr, and assassination classroom for Lerche.

jjk objectively has a beautiful manga style- Both expressive, fun, and it keeps with the "traditional" style at its base while still having its own distinct vibe. The gnarly style and reliance on solid black and grey lighting is v memorable.

Banana fish also has a memorable style, though- subjectively- less so than some others.

I don't know anything abt the yoi manga. from the screenshots i can see tho its. well drawn but not v distinct

In what i've seen MAPPA tends to draw closely to the manga style, and its best quality is the color+lineart. While I can't access specific screenshots of it at the moment, you can see very well in visually dark scenes + cold areas, there's something they do w/ the lineart and skin- the lines are a dark red and the skin color has a slight gaussian blur effect that creates a certain Vibe in it- My favorite example is in one of the early scenes with Yut Lung in the rain in banana fish. The art in the scene is beautiful in of itself and it brings emotion out of it.

You can also see in many of the skating scenes for yoi, and ep 23/24 of jjk (along with others but that's where I remember it most)

bsd ALSO has a great manga style. While I personally dont like it as much, the eyes/hair/facial features are noticably That Style

bnha has a rounder style than most and is fairly noticable from others.

MP100 has an INCREDIBLY prominent style, and while from a standalone artistic standpoint its not.. that good, the way its drawn is AMAZING for storytelling, with v expressive movements and such.

All the ones listed above have amazing animation by BONES, very crisp and smooth. I like the style BONES does in mp100- It's drawn in a similar style to the manga just,, prettier. In bnha and bsd though the style is. kinda basic.

While it still holds the core aspects of both (face/hair for bsd and round shapes for bnha) the quality if style goes down. In bsd its v obvious in comparison to the manga- the bodies are drawn a lot thinner and many layouts of scenes appear differently in the anime than manga. In bnha the facial expressions and, again, scene layouts are just. different. Both of those have been critiqued many times by other fans

tbhk has a STUNNING manga style. Second only to mp100 it's one of the most distinguishable styles of the ones listed (to me, at least). Both the backgrounds and character art is beautiful- the coloring style (when applicable) is also distinct- its something I personally take inspiration from

dgr doesn't. have a manga so i'll be using the games as a substitute. Once again, a noticable style especially in colors and hair.

Assassination Classroom has a beautifully drawn style, though its kinda. basic (though keep in mind I have two different categories of "basic" style- bf, for example, is in a different category than ac, which is more similar to cotw)

All these are drawn well, and the way its animated has more of a manga feel than the others. (idk how else to describe it its just. Like That)

Lerche tends to put their own style into their animations- while tbhk keeps the manga style, the other two don't. All three of them keep the coloring style of lerche, too.

The coloring style looks almost flat- which I actually find to be a good thing in this case. The best way I could describe it is paper cutouts but. animated. The animation itself isn't as good as BONES, but the og style and animation are very distinct.

TL;DR

MAPPA- best at standalone art in its anime, very pretty style

BONES- not the best adaption style, but stunning animation

Lerche- unique color and animation- not in the way BONES animates, but in the way that it gives a good vibe

I sort of assumed either Enta or Mabu would become a monster, based on people’s speculation, but the spoilers I read never stated anything about who became the monster/s in episode 10 (and/or 11). So this’ll be interesting.

I never thought Mabu would be going solo, although my sources did spoil me on the fact Reo would become a kappa.

A tsuzumi seems to be a type of drum, if the kanji is anything to go by…at least, from my recognition of the kanji for “Tsuzumi”, I seem to recall that first kanji has something to do with drums. Update: Yes, it means “drum”. I recognised it because it’s the Chinese way to write “drum” – I don’t think I’ve seen it in 10 years or so, so...I’m glad I still remember it…(?)

As much as I don’t like seeing slapping a creep as humour…I feel sorry for Zenitsu…

It turns out…this show’s deliberate humour…sucks…

To clarify, BSD Wan! is just a spin-off that has nothing to do with the canon timeline. One could argue that the anime’s timeline also slightly diverges from the manga/light novels when they moved LN1 to the current timeline though.

Ok, related to before. I just finished BSD (anime) and I have some questions. How come season 2 doesnot show full tiger change at all? Like I miss my tiger-kitty. also, episode 25 seems out of left field for a semi-decent wrap up in ep. 24, so what's the deal? is there more to come or not? Finally, I still do not understand why its called stray dogs, like ya two called that ONCE but meh, didn't seem consequential...

atsushi stops changing into a full tiger because of fukuzuwa’s (leader of ADA) ability which allows him to control the outcomes of the ADA. so he can allow atsushi to change parts of himself into a tiger without going fully tiger; which, in reality, is MUCH better than going fully tiger. after going full tiger, atsu is often tired and can barely remember anything, and it seems as though he can’t really control himself once the tiger takes over. ep 25 is an ova about kunikida, probably set in between season 1 and season 2 since atsushi still seems fairly uncomfortable around dazai. there’s a movie that came out in the USA in may, which was AMAZING, i went to see it. it’s yet to come out translate on the internet, but it explains more of dazai and chuuya’s background while diving deeper into fyodor’s mission.if you want more...the manga is really good :3 but i don’t know if they’ve officially announced the making of a third season or not i hope this helps !!
