ANYWAY that moment when trauma hits you like a truck. As a child soldier, you are robbed of your childhood (lloyd parallel fr) and then you run away making 16 realms, 2 kids and possibly humans as well. You ingrain it into your everyday life and never realise your coping methods are unhealthy until you suddenly realise you’ve hurt your sons, but its too late by then.

Caitlyn Is Constantly Underestimated

Something that I (and probably other Caitlyn fans) have noticed is how often and constantly Caitlyn is underestimated by everyone she meets.

Her parents, especially her mother, genuinely love her and want to protect her from danger. But they never fully supported her job as an Enforcer, her mother being more open about her disapproval. And her flashback as a child implies that her parents had a habit of paying off her competitors so she could win. They may love her, but their actions also show they don't fully respect her.

Her and Jayce have a playful and loving big bro and lil' sis bond since she was a young teen but even, he's not immune. He may be more supportive of her Enforcer job, but it's also implied from his wording that he didn't try to stop Caitlyn's mom from kicking off her force. I understand he was worried, and I am NOT demonizing him for it but it was still against Caitlyn's wishes. And despite her pleas for help, Jayce refuses her request to help Zaun, so he won't upset his political alliances with the other Council members. However, when Vi calls him out on his inaction, he doesn't defend it and looks away in shame.

Marcus and the other Enforcers see her as nothing more than an entitled, rich brat only taking up being an Enforcer out of boredom. Marcus doesn't even try to hide his contempt of her and when she tries to engage in conversation with other Enforcers, they smugly deny her the chance.

While not elaborated on, a teen Caitlyn calls herself a "misfit", implying she was friendless and ostracized since she was a young child.

Jinx only thinks of her as some "stupid Enforcer" who "stole" Vi.

When they first meet, Vi is nothing but rude and belligerent to Caitlyn for her background and doesn't think much of her. And while her opinion of the Piltie changes, their breakup in the rain further shows Vi still has a mindset of (to an extent), underestimating Caitlyn - Vi thinks they won't work out and tells Caitlyn to forget her.

I think this trend will continue in Season 2. Most of everyone she interacts with, will only see her a naive child with no idea how the world works. I think something will happen to Caitlyn to shed the last bit of naivety she had in season 1. And I think it will ultimately lead her to saving both cities. Now, I have a theory that Caitlyn will play a key role in stopping the conflict between Piltover and Zaun for a number of reasons:

In the official LOL lore, her bio refers to her as "Piltover's best peacekeeper"

Arcane co-creator Alex Yee says believes she is the bridge of the two sides of the two cities. Sorry, I don't have the official link.

Her magnetic personality - Despite just being excluded by the Enforcers just a second prior, the moment she warned of a fire, they follow her lead immediately. How she managed to easily charm one of the Zaun prostitutes. Despite his hatred of Piltie Enforcers and general distrust, Caitlyn's kind words managed to convince Ekko to trust her, probably the first time he ever trusted one. And do I need to mention how Vi fell for Caitlyn's personality despite them only knowing each other for 1 to 2 days.

She is deliberately meant to draw parallels between herself and Vander, another well-beloved leader with a similar personality to Caitlyn's.

number 1: why is he so crazy even BEFORE becoming a jujutsu sorcerer

it seems like he had a normal and happy upbringing, he never even met his real parents or had any contact w the sorcery world before the events in the series (his own birth doesnt count) so WHY IS HE LIKE THIS T-T

im so serious. he is UNHINGED. its like his survival instinct kicks in a million years later than normal. stubborn and sturdy almost to a fault, both physically and mentally, always running towards danger unprepared, getting seriously hurt, and getting back up again. like yea ok todo picked him up during his fight w mahito but, dude, itadori has died TWICE in the series till now n hes still going, his will stronger than ever before (ya know wat they say tho, 3rd times the charm am i right hahah*WRECKS THE ROOM*)

(btw i think so, so often abt how gojo theorized that itadori maybe could use sukunas technique/s since itadori was borrowing his cursed power….i wonder if he never could do it cos sukuna was so freaking uncooperative until the bitter end aka their soul divorce lol.. bc clearly itadori is capable of learning techniques that are not his own..idk idkkkk just sayin….wondering…)

& it looks like itadori in particular can affect others' soul with precision.

the question is How the hell..... bc as far as we know no one else has this power amongst the surviving sorcerers (i want her (nobara) back so bad rn....)

The ending made me feel like I was watching the finale of the last season of a TV show. So so good. Like I said, the parts can be read separately, but they're stronger when read in order. <3

I think Panta would make a decent father (for a Harbinger ig.. If that counts?). Mockinbird by Enimem lyrics perfectly describe how I see him as a father lol. I think rough childhood in poverty, plus fact he's one of harbingers will make him very reluctant abt becoming a father but reader is there to reassure him ofc^^

And exactly bc of his rough childhood he'll do everything he can to protect his child from going through the same stuff as he did. Will he spoil them? Yes, most likely. Reader will have to take role of "strict" parent bc he just can't resist their c/n's cuteness- (child's name)

But! Endless wealth also allows to invest into studying and hobbies. You want to do art? Become a sculptor? Learn more languages? Anything else? Well, you'll get it. You'll even get money management lessons from Panta himself (not that you need them that much, since thanks to Reader being more strict c/n knows not to go overboard, but let Lone have his moment, please)

I think other harbingers adore you too. He's not a big fan of you spending too much time around his co-workers, especially when some of them are insane (COUGH COUGH Dottore COUGH COUGH), but they end up loving you. Listen, I don't care what Wanderer says about Pulchinella, I stand by Papanella agenda *puts on clown mask silently*, Child is also great with children thanks to growing in a big family and I feel like La Signora is very gentle with kids too

Another random thought but imagine little c/n trying out their dad's harbinger coat-It's way to big on them but they're so cute-He snaps a few photos w/ kamera and makes a mental note to make you your own coat too

On more melancholic note, he'll never let you to get and use a delusion, no matter how much you'll plead for it, if/before you're blessed with a vision. He knows what delusion does to person's body and mind, there's no way (in any cycles of Samsara) he'll let you go through it

On more bright note, if you actually receive a vision he's delighted. For your training to wield it you'll get the best quality weapons and coaches. Whatever weapon you choose, you'll wield it amazingly, thanks to training

And on angsty note... I don't think c/n will spend all of their time in Snezhnaya... So imagine them meeting Traveler at one point, outside of their homeland. Maybe even after Signora's tragic passing. C/N battles Traveler bc he/she killed someone C/N deemed their family member! Of course C/N loses and they're ashamed and scared. What if they're not strong enough to protect their loved ones? Fatui agents will inform lord Harbinger about these events and after a good scolding for putting yourself in danger, both of c/n's parents will comfort them^^

Summing it up, I think Pantalone would make a good dad. Not the best one, of course, but no one's truly perfect

I too believe that he would make a good father, one of the best out of the Harbingers (Childe easily takes number 1.) He knows what it’s like to struggle as a child in many aspects so he would definitely treat his kid with love and respect. And yea his biggest issue is how much he spoils his kid🥺 bro does NOT have a limit (I can just imagine you scolding him for spoiling the kid so much and he’s just like 🥺 the whole time)

Ah I love Pantalone indulging his kid on their interests and hobbies💖 He would be really supportive and want to listen about every new thing they’re learning. And the money management lessons are my favorite ;( teaching his kid what he would have liked to know when he was small.

good morning. i skipped two days of writing to be precise. why?

it's because too much was going on. 13th aug was fine

yesterday there was earthquake of around 5.2. the whole building got down, especially the ones living the upper part of the building cuz we wouldn't have much time to survive.

that was number 1 reason.

secondly, mom found out that i text people on messenger and also saw me sent out some pictures.

to be precise some VERY DECENT pictures, like just my face. and the chat history? FULLY DECENT DAMN NICE chat history. still i got like a "ultimate warning" from my parents and they also made me deactivate my acc and block the guys b4 doing that. i felt super bad for them. cuz

i'm ahanaf's only bff and he has no one else to talk about everything so openly… we were also planning to research on the scholarships and go together… i couldn't even tell him that my parents are making me do this… but i had to cutoff everything… he was inspired by me, he was one of the people who truly cared for me, and i was one of them for him. he's now gonna think i left him like his other friends too :(

on the other hand, tousif is also an introvert + he is a totally broken guy. domestic violence, no real friends, people stepping over him, what not? that guy found his safe place with me, i took care of him while he was depressed and got him out of it. i helped him continue his friendship with others. when no one was there to support him, i was there… he was very grateful to me, he also wanted me to share my pain, but i never did except once cuz i don't wanna hurt him. he didn't like it when i didn't share my pain. he sometimes wouldn't even believe that i was not in pain cuz he knows i'm too good at acting and hiding emotions. so blocking him and breaking contact like that is gonna go too harsh on him as i won't be returning for a few months now. and even when i do, i won't be able to talk to any boy or enter any group. only girls, that even of my own school… poor him… he's gonna think i ghosted him too :(

it was my niece’s confirmation day, today…I had the most surreal *this must have been life/slice of the American Dream in the 1950s nostalgia moment*…just as we—my fiancé and I—were readying the car to leave after the *brunch* my sister-in-law (her mom) hosted for the family afterwards (brunch—-which meant we ate and chatted with the other cousins, my parents, for another 5 hours… whilst the kiddos, who are now old enough, spanning middle school to highschool, kept themselves occupied, outdoors even, on such a gorgeous day…the fiance and I were pulling around in the cul-du-sac where my bro’s house is, and there was an odd moment as my youngest niece and her brother were shooting hoops, my dad (at 78) joined them for some shots too, with my brother, as my sister-in-law, and my oldest niece (the honorary confirmation day lass) were getting ready to take a bike ride on the trails by the Fox River, my cousins and their kids, all about the same age, and number (3 of them), we’re doing the Midwestern mosey-leaving (where you’re readying to leave, but it actually takes another 1 hour to get out the door bc you continue chatting…) along with my mom, in the October sun, with the leaves of the small forest preserve, and along the FoxRiver, around their neighborhood all just glorious red-oranges and golds right now, the sky absolutely vibrant, and sharp blue…99% of the time, we’re like, “Why the hell would you ever move to north-central IL, of the western ‘burbs of Chicago?” But there is that occasional 1%, like today, when I guess I can believe the stats that say the tri-city area (Batavia/Geneva/St Charles—the FoxRiver corridor) is ranked as some of the best places to live/raise families…to keep it real, the fiance and I landed in Aurora instead-lol. The place you end up when nothing in Batavia fit the bill…🙄 About 14 min from Batavia, also on the FoxRiver corridor…We actually do have a lot of nice places around us—the off-•leash dog trails in the forest preserves for 1–the Dude-Bros (our basset-Doxie sausage cross, and his bro-ling, out Jack-russel Doxie cross…) love’em…we love our Dude-Bros…

Watched 3 and 1/3 episodes of The New Employee and the vibes weren't rancid enough even though, to me, the actions and romance were supposed to be had terrible power dynamics and it would've been fun if those were played with. So instead I'll watch this because I've heard it's got horrible dynamics, at least in the earlier episodes.

I hope I like it, I want the Omega X members to be part of something good after the fiasco with their abusive company. Also, I had kind of skimmed through that old trailer that was leaked several weeks/few months ago and it seemed like an angsty high school coming-of-age type show; I'm really in the mood for that now I think, so hopefully, it'll be great for me.

I think Da Yeol looks so cute in the last ep with his pretty hair and pretty smile.

I think it's an okay last episode, it's cute that there's like no conflict and just cuteness (is it the "special episodes" from the manhwa?) but also it didn't necessarily have the same ~vibes~ as the first 5-6 episodes of the show, so hm

Overall Thoughts:

The high school/uni kBLs tend to work better for me than the workplace ones and this one was good too. I really liked the first few episodes (first half essentially - 4 eps) when there was so much contempt but Taehyun couldn't stop himself from terrorizing or goading Da Yeol and Da Yeol couldn't stop noticing how beautiful Taehyun was, and then the friendship that bloomed in that but still with an edge. I didn't quite get the reason for separation in episode 6 and think in the last episode was cutesy which I like but didn't necessarily have the edge that their relationship has, so it feels like kinda ? to go from the Manufactured Angst of ep 6 to such affection here.

Still, overall a pretty good one; reminds me of a mix of Blueming and Utsukushii Kare. I was giddy so many times while watching this, especially the first half and was clutching my head and curling my toes despite it not being romantic, just full of tension.

I am terrible awful bad bad bad at math. But from my own experience (several years of engineering math courses that i failed a lot of lol) the thing that I think most people don't understand about numbers conceptually is how big they get how fast. Even just objectively. People dont realize often what exactly it means for 500 million to be 500 times 1 million. It seems intuitive but when you add economy and inflation and etc, it becomes incredibly unintuitive very quickly.

Even if you need 10 mill to retire today, if you are not actively investing that money into the stock market (it's just sitting in even a high yield savings account) inflation eats your money. If you saved $5 for a sandwich 20 years from now, I hate to break it to you but sandwiches will likely cost more than $5 20 years from now! The money you saved previously, is literally worth less (unless you buy into the capitalistic model of wealth of course!!!)

I have seen this in my own life as I have moved through my education and early career that my original targets for income to keep living in my home city have ballooned from "$65k should be fine to start" to "$100k is absolutely the bare minimum" by year 2-3 of me working.

My parents are in that generation of people who got good degrees and good jobs and "did everything right" but they (60s) do not have enough money to retire in 15 years let alone now when ppl are "supposed to retire." They keep telling themselves that "oh it's fine if I work longer." but retirement is not just about not working. It's also about being able to pay the medical bills that come along with your body starting to break down severely. Most people will have more medical costs in their 70s than in their 20s.

Seeing this happen around me my goals have shifted away from a retirement fund. Obviously some month to month disposable income then is important. But for people now, have access to stable and safe housing that won't be gentrified out of your retirement tax bracket is 10000000000% more important than any specific number. But that also involves working my whole life until then to help change laws that gentrify retired people out of the homes they bought as young adults for a smaller amount of money that now has a massive tax bill despite the mortgage being paid because tech bros moved into the neighborhood. That involves making policy changes that improve the state of the healthcare system because yes as a 30 year old, I'm happy to pay more taxes for healthcare for people who need it because I will also need it someday!!! Retirement funds are almost entirely an invention of capitalism because they have privatized public services that people should just be able to access regardless of their income at that specific point in their lives.

I've seen this sentiment lumped into Eat the Rich posts which goes like "if you're worth more than $1 million I think you should die" and I think tumblr users need to know this is not the Eat the Rich statement they think it is.

Someone being worth $1 million doesn't mean what you think it means.

A 71-year-old widow who bought a single-family 2,000 sqft home in Somerville Massachusetts with her husband 40 years ago to raise their family in, who now lives in this home all alone because her children are grown and her husband is dead, is--without a shadow of a doubt--worth more than $1 million. Maybe even $1.5 or $2 million. And it's because of her home equity, because that's what single family homes go for these days in that area.

The 71-year-old widow may be living pension check to pension check, because her millionaire status can only be dipped into if she's removed from her home and sells it. And if it's the home she's loved for 40 years, where she simply wants to live out the rest of her time peacefully in, I wouldn't put her to the guillotine for that.

Maybe that comes off as an extreme example, like that's just an outlier of the "we hate millionaires" agenda. But I don't think it truly is. I'll scale back and tell you the median U.S. home price right now is about $430,000. And that's just median. Half of them are more expensive than that.

The statement "I think people should be able to afford to buy and own the homes they live in" is, I would desperately hope, not a radical statement to anyone on Tumblr. I think that's a pretty well-received idea. So someone who's done that, who's bought their home and worked many years to pay off the mortgage and now owns it fully, is worth close to half a million dollars on average. Many of them more than that, as many areas rapidly gentrify and drive up housing worth.

Statement 2: "I think people deserve to have a retirement fund which would comfortably support them through end of life." Too radical for anyone? I hope not. And I won't pretend to be an expert on how much retirement money is ideal. I'm sure it varies with cost of living in places. But considering this is money which, ideally, should support someone for the remaining 10-20 years of life (money which may be necessary to cover the absolutely crippling medical costs of end-of-life treatment) I'd bet it's well into the many hundreds of thousands. Even if someone was simply living off $30k/year of take home money and just making that work, then 15 years of retirement, costing $30k/year, plus maybe $50k+ of end-of-life medical costs... That's at least $500k.

Which is all to say, if you show me someone approaching retirement age who's "worth" $1 million dollars, my hope would be that their house is paid off and their retirement fund is comfortable. I'd be happy for them. I would want this for them.

Even that may not be true, though. Someone "worth" $1 million maybe owns a paid-off house which has rapidly appreciated to being worth $900k, and their $100k in retirement is something they're trying to stretch through end of life. Maybe someone worth $1 million owns a house which has ballooned to $1.1 million, and they're in fact $100k in debt.

And the fact that SO many Americans will never even meet this bar is significantly more appalling to me than the existence of people worth more than $1 million. "I own my home and can retire comfortably" is a bar we want every American to meet. I want more millionaires who are millionaires because they meet these criteria.

If Nana Somerville's house burns down tomorrow, she'll have lost everything. If a billionaire were to similarly lose $1 million of worth, he would not feel it. That's a fickle day at the stock market. That's Tuesday. That's the rich which desperately needs to be eaten.
