MissPir8Feather
Trying to remember my other characters... There's a faun character. Her mom decided to share her with her human father and she got like, traded every 6 months or so. Half the time she's living in the woods with her kind, and the other half she's at her dad's bar.
GhastlyGhifinT
Neat!
MissPir8Feather
Like, her dad actually has a bar that welcomes non-humans. The character was a pathfinder idea for the Scald class (which is a cross between a bard and a barbarian, which is the classes of her parents.)
GhastlyGhifin
Bardbarian, nice
MissPir8Feather
Scald's are cool. Like, imagine if a barbarian can shout and give everyone around them their rage abilities
Really good for groups with a lot of martial fighters
GhastlyGhifin
So basically "What if Skyrim's Dragonborn was a Bard"
Also
"A brigantine is a two-masted sailing vessel with a fully square rigged foremast and at least two sails on the main mast: a square topsail and a gaff sail mainsail. The main mast is the second and taller of the two masts."
MissPir8Feather
Oh...
GhastlyGhifin
I mean it's fitting for a middle school/early high school age nerd to use a cool-sounding name with a boring technical meaning
papyrus3e
“can u get brigante”
GhastlyGhifin
BRIGANINANT?
papyrus3e
how to tell if brigant
^ the name of an alternian criminal vengeance handbook
GhastlyGhifin
How can I tell if I'm Brignan?

Critical Role Miniature Rollout C2E41
With Andrew Harshman
A review of the minis used on Critical Role.
At long last, a naval confrontation! It was definitely worth the wait though. Some fine ships on this episode, what a treat!
Roll up your sleeve and choose a tat design, it’s time for Critical Role Miniature Rollout Campaign 2 Episode 41!
The List
Unknown Water Mat
Waterdeep Dragon Heist #004a City Guard
Waterdeep Dragon Heist #007b City Watch
Edér Teylecg Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire Collectors Edition Figurine
@Minileed Custom Ship
TabletopThings Large 3-Level Brigantine Ship
Dwarven Forge Gangplank
The Terrain
The Lucidian Ocean Unknown Water Mat
C-C-C-Combo Breaker! Until this episode, every mat appearing in campaign 2 has been a Mats by Mars product, but not this one. The physical texture suggests this is plastic. While there are a lot of plastic water maps on the internet, the angle the waves are moving at makes this one somewhat unique. The closest map I was able to find is from a company called Tiny Wargames. Alas, it’s difficult to say with any certainly if this is the actual mat. I like how rough the waters look, captures the adventure on the high seas theme.
The Ships TabletopThings Large 3-Level Brigantine Ship and @Minileed Custom Ship
Here we have two distinct miniature terrain types represented. The mechanically precise gridded ship on the left and the aesthetically focused scale-less ship on the right. Both schools are valid of course. And both these vessels are mighty impressive and the TableThings 3-Level is already sold out at the time of posting.
The NPCs
Crew of the Stormcap Waterdeep Dragon Heist #004a City Guard and Waterdeep Dragon Heist #007b City Watch Mini images in this section sourced from minisgallery.com
This spear wielding City Guard premiered in episode 35 and I already remarked on their quality. I think this figure and the sword version are nice minis. I’m not terribly fond of them in this setting though. Too much armor, seems dangerous on a boat.
With a near identical title, Waterdeep Dragon Heist City Watch looks to be more appropriately dressed for water work. The paint on this mini and the alternate version (both pictured in my main post photo) have painted chinstraps. I assume these straps are for the helmets they are wearing, but I like to think they are chinstrap beards. As if two different city watch members showed up for work after a three day weekend with the exact same new facial hair style. I think this is a good miniature, nice attention grabbing colors and much like the City Guards, City Watch clearly looks like a guard type NPC.
I would have preferred to see some more sailory looking minis in this encounter. The models here are perfectly serviceable, but what can I say, I’m stickler. Fortunately, there is ample upcoming opportunity to see some of the great prepainted pirate and sailor minis that exist.
Captain Jules Errog of the Stormcap Edér Teylecg Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire Collectors Edition Figurine
A wildly specific miniature. Edér Teylecg, one of three figures produced for the Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire Collectors Edition. One of the other character minis showed up in Laura’s one shot. I searched the internet aimlessly for 2d4 hours for the source. Ultimately, an absolute savior of a Reddit user, Rather_curious_lass was able to I.D. this one.
In retrospect, perhaps I should have recognized it, since the pose is just like the POE2 promotional art:
They’re even on a ship! How on-brand.
I’ve seen some up close photos of the Edér miniature posted online, which are generally accompanied by some negative comments. The paint is not very good, but at least the pose is interesting and animated. It’s a unique enough pose that I immediately knew it was not a Pathfinder or D&D prepaint as I did not recognize it. It’s neat to have this piece on the show since it is such an exclusive and rare miniature.
As for the paint, I would imagine the three Collectors Edition items were produced in very small quantities, which likely drove up production costs. The paint quality is forgivable. The quality is still better than most PC minis from the ongoing Icons of the Realms D&D set.
Closing Remarks
Many obscure and original miniature components in this episode. Good stuff.
