As sad as it is, it's interesting Sonic recognized this place as a home immediately from the stuff lying around. He has plenty experience with that.

Tragic that Sonic realized in seconds what the scientists who worked here never did. They probably saw this all as a pointless distraction. And it's because of their lack of foresight, it all blew up in their faces.

While Tom was demoted from main character to supporting character as the movies went on, I do love they kept him on as like, someone who could give Sonic guidance. He's very wise, likely a trait he picked up from his own dad who was also very wise.

God, is this liveblog just going to be me pointing out the jokes I liked? They've crammed this movie FULL of jokes!

I mean, we're going to get a child murder later in the movie, yet they are stuffing in these jokes.

You know, it's wild these movies explore the concept of loneliness. You never get a sense that the characters in Sonic are lonely.

Like, the blue blur himself only takes on friends that can keep up with him, and is completely fine roaming free like nothing matters. Tails has an inferiority complex, but you never see him like, long for friendship, his arc is about growing as a person. Knuckles literally spends all his time alone, but you never get the sense that he wants connections from people. He just seems content just guarding the Master Emerald forever. Even Shadow has always been so focused on revenge that he never has a moment to feel lonely.

So it's surprising that the movies decided to zero in on the idea that maybe these characters would want some companionship, and I honestly think the story is so much better for it.
