The entrance scene to Lady Danbury’s ball is one of my most favourite scenes from Season 3 because there’s so many little details, and interesting tidbits that show the dynamics between these characters beautifully.

But I feel like a lot of these small but important details are missed, simply because this scene is a really quick one. So, let me breakdown some of my personal favourite bits from this scene:

Starting with, Anthony entering, proudly with his Viscountess on his arm. His head is held high and there’s even a spring in step. He’s so freaking happy to be walking in with Kate!!

But, besides being Kate’s proud husband, he’s also Francesca’s worrisome big brother and so he turns around check on her and when he sees that she’s feeling apprehensive, he holds her hand and tucks it into the crook of his elbow to remind her that he’s right beside her, to support her

While, Anthony comforts Francesca, Kate keeps the attention off them by dealing with all the polite courtesies and by complimenting Lady Danbury’s skills as a hostess.

Which distracts Lady Danbury from Anthony and Francesca long enough to preen at her Ball and also gives Anthony another convenient reason to keep falling deeper in love with his wife

Benedict and Colin are on their best behaviour because they are in Kate’s direct line of sight and she’s smiling sweetly at them and they absolutely will not be the reason she’s disappointed.

And for once, Violet Bridgerton is simply looking forward to a Ball

i think one thing i'm looking forward to the most once everything is out and we reach the point of happily ever after is the bridgerton's welcoming penelope into the family with open arms bc our girl has never had that. her sisters are cruel, her mum is unsupportive and uncaring, her dad ignored her and was a gambling addict. she needs that family dynamic and we know they already love her but to be seen as a 'sister' and 'daughter' and more importantly a 'wife' is what i need for her. she deserves that.

"I understand why Penelope didn't tell Colin about LW, that was a huge risk and could have put her in an uncomfortable situation." So, for some that I've seen with this rhetoric, you can understand her not wanting to tell Colin about a gossip blog she wrote that, not only, made repeated digs at the queen (who's on her neck mind you) but HIS OWN family as well but can't understand why Marina, who was pregnant and left out of options, would conceal her pregnancy from him to protect herself and her children from the threat of being thrown out? Hmm.

But All Will Be Well

Edwina loved London, however. There was a part of her still hoping that she would make a match here. The friends she had thought she had made had not spoken to her much, aside from the odd quick pitying smile. But her mother was here and Kate would be there. The people she loved were in England. But would London love her in return again? — Edwina has always wanted to help her family and she can do that - in Berlin. Prince Friedrich was a good man, a broken man and yet, they managed to find a way to fit together.

The Family and Friendship storylines remain by far my most favorite things about Bridgerton (and yes, I just finished Season 3).

The romances are decent, and I do enjoy the thrill of Polin, but they pale in comparison to my enjoyment of the familial and platonic relationships. God that family is just so darn cute and even the Featheringtons have managed to win me over.

I'm re-reading On the Way to the Wedding and I totally forgot that Greg straight up abducts Lucy and ties her up at the end there

oh look, an emotionally neglectful/abusive parent suddenly being nice to the scapegoat child as soon as they realize they’ll no longer be able to force their child to have a relationship with them🙄

i'm watching queen charlotte and young violet reminds me so much of eloise for some reason.. i hope we get to see more of their relationship as mother and daughter in the future

I fear Julia Quinn. She is simultaneously a very good and very questionable author. The Bridgerton books have so many points where they start getting good and then miss Quinn just pulls out the strangest poorly disguised fetish thing or randomly very sexist thing or like disturbingly modern turn of phrase and like the whole emersion is ruined.

Sometimes I like to amuse myself and remember that if we line up the spouses next to the Bridgertons in canonical birth order, not ages birth order, these would be who each other's counterparts.

Like the vibes of the character and the backstory and the motivations are ALL THERE and could be so compelling and interesting!!!!! if this man knew how to make even one other facial expression. But alas.

Hi Fic Anon again! Oh! I never noticed that about Anthony and Eloise before but you are right! They do have a complicated relationship with their mother! Violet really messed up here with her relationship with her children. She loves them but doesn't know how to parent them.

I wonder how their relationship would evolve in your fic when they realise how alike they actually are.

I think I think about all this things because I am so much more interested in the Bridgerton family dynamic than almost anything else in the show - which is an interesting choice of approach to a romance show hahaha
