Wedding season is upon us and there are hundreds of brides buzzing around town with that magical glow of pre-wedding excitement as they anticipate their big day arriving just around the corner. As I approach my three year anniversary, I reflect on my own experience of planning a wedding. When people advised me to bask in the enjoyment of the wedding planning process, I strived to remain conscious of enjoying each week that led to our wedding. There were moments when I felt that the world was our oyster and everything was working in our favor. There were other moments when the planning process became a bit stressful and I would turn to Michael and ask him, “Why didn’t we choose to elope?” It’s a natural sensation to have as there are so many details to think about when planning the perfect wedding. One wise woman told me, when that day comes you will be so happy that you worked hard to throw the wedding of your dreams.  She couldn’t have been more right as we were another fortunate couple in the books to have had such a beautiful wedding.

Things fell into place rather easily when planning our wedding with the chosen venue, the preferred caterer, the florist, the ceremony, music, décor, etc. There was one small surprise that I wasn’t prepared to feel overwhelmed by, and that was registering for our wedding! Ladies, one word of advice, take your time with this process and be sure you have the proper support and guidance to line up a well-rounded registry. For us, we knew there was only one destination where we would consider registering at, and that was The Little House Shop, located in Eagle Village Shops in Wayne. I knew they would put me at ease and create a fun and enjoyable experience all around. With a full staff of the most endearing and pleasant women greeting me at the door, I knew I was home.

We love the Danish line, Georg Jensen which offers an array of unique silver home accessories that are sure to pop in any room. Keep an eye out for the gorgeous Robert Haviland chargers and china patterns, along with the remarkable Beatriz Ball line which focuses on luxury tableware and home décor. Add in some custom colored lamps, gorgeous frames, boxes, books, that come in rich textures and brilliant colors to add to the aesthetic of your new home together. I’m reminded because I just got a lovely one from a baby shower gift that I gave two weeks ago! ❤️When I was still in the business of registering brides, this was singlehandedly the hottest topic. I’d pick up the phone everyday to... “ Are you sure you sent out the gift I bought ? I haven’t received a note yet “ to which I’d reply... “ Yes... and Emily Post says that brides have a year so please be patient!” The thing is ... just keep a good list... and if you wrote your notes as soon as you get a gift, you’ll never have to worry about it! It’s fine to use an online services for Thank you notes for presents...just know that sometimes they can end up in the junk mail. It’s easy to buy a pretty pack of cards, or have them made especially for you... whatever you like! I’ve received three handwritten thank you notes this year from members of my family, including the most exquisite notes from my daughter in love, her sister and her cousin and I was so proud and delighted. I know it sounds silly, but it’s the little things. If someone has taken the time to select something for you with love, they deserve a little recognition.
