Well. We know that the Fenton extended family are really affectionate people physically and just emotionally. So, I could see them treating Jack like any other blood related family member.
Now—think of what the Wayne brother’s share ironically. Bruce studied many different obscure topics in order to become Batman. Including some occult and otherwise supernatural stuff.
Jack Fenton’s whole career spawns from a fascination with ghosts. Even if he was inspired by his adopted family, he enthusiastically hunts down proof alongside Maddie. Can you imagine how weirded out Danny feels knowing his dad comes from old money? (Plus the whole being kidnapped as a newborn baby thing too.)
And, in this shared universe, I feel like Sam or Tucker would catch onto the fact Bruce Wayne is pretty suspicious. He’s always ducking out of formal occasions to deal with something. Pretty buff for a rich dude—Vlad’s rich yet built like a twig unless in his Plasmius form. Jason Todd died mysteriously years ago under his care, Tim Drake took over as Wayne Enterprises CEO for a short while, he has several kids (emotionally adopted for most of them), and he tends to go on vacations a lot only to come back injured.
That last one they had to comb through the Wayne Kids’ social accounts for. Even then it was only vague references toward him being out of action. Feel like they connected the dots to the Wayne Family being involved with vigilantism but not who is who. To be fair there are several people in the family—and most of the Gotham heroes are hard to get on camera.
Tucker’s working theories: Batman is sponsored by Bruce Wayne, related to him, or they are in a relationship. Sam’s theories: Bruce is Batman!
(I kinda got away from Danny but I think his best friends would react strangely to learning this. Vlad must be seething in this universe.)
—All I have for now, @ladydisasterinthemaking
Might make a fanfiction out of this.
This idea came to me yesterday while I was taking a break from my studies.
What if Jack Fenton is not the clone or half-brother of Bruce Wayne. What if he was the stolen twin brother of Bruce Wayne, and their parents thought he died a few hours after he was born because someone wanted the Waynes to suffer. Thomas and Martha were too heartbroken to ever speak about the death of their son. Then Damian and Danny meet in Gotham during Casper High’s field trip. Damian thinks Bruce had a child with another woman, and he’s p*ssed off about it. Danny insists that he wasn’t some billionaire’s child, and that his parents are both loyal to each other. Then Danny shows Damian a picture of his parents. Now Damian thinks his father was cloned instead. They call the whole Fenton family in Gotham. They do a DNA test. Bruce finds out. Turns out, Jack’s kidnappers took him as far away as they can manage, which was in Minnesota. They dropped him on an orphanage and his adoptive parents eventually took him in as their child (as an infant). Bruce is freaking out. The batfam is in chaos. Alfred is heartbroken, but is doing his best to support the Wayne family. Damian has been appeased. At least this boy isn’t an usurper.
I know this breaks like a lot of lore from Danny Phantom. This is just a ‘what if’ and a random idea.

man i remember when nevermore first came out i was sad it was so underrated.. but now after all the drama, i wish it had stayed underrated, because a big fanbase (especially one with a lot of minors) ALWAYS brings drama
#not saying red didn't fuck up. they definitely did#but i do think this has been blown way out of proportion#and it seems more of a case of someone making a mistake and then people escalating it#classic case of people jumping the gun and trying to make it into a black-and-white situation#and thinking making mistakes make someone into a horrible irredeemable person.#even though everyone makes mistakes#honestly this is why official fandom discords should start making themselves 18+ or at least 16+ imo. to avoid all of this#anyway im not leaving the fandom. if i had to leave a fandom for every drama blown out of proportion that comes up#then i couldnt be in anything#bro ive been in fandom for years. ive seen this kind of stuff happen plenty of times and its always the same.#it always seems like such a big deal at the time. then a few years later you look back at it and think ''oh yeah this was so dumb''#honestly this is more of the norm than the exception. which is also why i think the drama is so tiring#im just currently taking a break from it for unrelated reasons (currently not hyperfixating on it. will come back when hyperfixation return#nevermore#webcomic#nevermore webtoon#i just hope the comic doesnt go under because of this#best case scenario the fandom gets smaller and hopefully less toxic

I'm once again thinking about the missed opportunities to have Klaus and Kol bond more. Part of Klaus' whole motivation as a vampire is to get his werewolf part back and to finally be stronger than Mikael (sort of, I'm simplifying) both of which can be obtained by breaking his curse. But Kol? Kol is the only other original that can relate to having a fundamental part of themself ripped away from them. Klaus might not have known he was a werewolf until he killed, but he likely still had a connection he couldn't explain, as evident by him going to watch the wolves transform. And something he'd never been able to explain was now gone. He might only be able to realise the connection afterwards through its absence.
Kol though. Kol had grown up with magic, a connection to nature and the world around him in a way the rest of his siblings supposedly didn't have. And then he gets turned. And not only has his baby brother died, his father has just murdered him and the rest of his siblings after forcing them to drink human blood, which he'll later learn. Now, not only does he have to deal with the grief of Henrik's death and also his own but also the loss of his magic. A loss that's likely only worsened by Kol being a self-proclaimed child prodigy.
Kol is pretty much the only one who could understand what Klaus is going through with the binding of his wolf. We know Kol searched for ways to get his magic back/carry on practicing magic in the same way that Klaus was looking for ways to break his curse. While Klaus likely could still feel his wolf there despite being bound, Kol has no access to his magic anymore. I just think they should've been able to bond or connect over their shared loss of an intrinsic aspect of their selves at the hands of their parents
#TVD#The Mikaelsons#Kol Mikaelson#Klaus Mikaelson#briefly back on my the originals shouldve gotten to be a family goddammit and as someone from a big family im personally offended bs#i did right a lil snippet about them bonding over this that i havent posted yet for the joml verse but still think its an unexplored concep#need more witch!kol acknowledgement honestly. just need more content of my boy#anyway. klaus having a fascination with the moon and kol telling him about celestial events and how it affects his magic when theyre boys#klaus losing that connection to the moon feeling lost & extra tempermental feeling his wolf claw at its binds and vowing to break his curse#kol determined to get his magic back at any cost relating to that devasting loss and promising to help him find a loophole for his curse#kol who becomes extra reckless and determined when he learns that theres a way to break klaus' curse so maybe he can get his magic back too#that knowledge and recklessness combined with his loss of magic driving him to become the volatile vampire that we see#that leads to him being daggered repeatedly but that first time breaks something in that bond between him & klaus that never fully recovers#it makes him bitter and resentful only fueling his reckless behaviour particularly when there seems to be no leads on reclaiming his magic#that he becomes distant from his siblings in the process especially with finn still daggered but that distance only cements the idea#to his siblings that hes a danger and cant be trusted that he needs to be daggered if theyre to stay safe from mikael#the loss of his magic leading to his spiral as a vampire and him being ostracised by his family > actual tvdu kol canon#klaus being trapped in a room staring at the corpse of his little brother knowing he never repaired that relationship with him#and now he never can so he refuses to look away as penance and a reminder of his failings to his little brother#*edit: one of the reblogs on this post is the author of big bad wolf and honestly she does an amazing job at portraying the mikaelsons#as actual siblings if you havent read it its one of my favourites for characterisations but we need more 😭 i want it to be the norm

Another pro-reader tip for mxtx novels: they are all stories with clear-cut good guys and bad guys and a strong moral message, BUT you have to actually read what the story has to say about characters without taking anything at face value, relying on genre tropes, or using identities and statuses as shorthand to your understanding of the moral system and themes of the story. So no, most characters in her stories are not morally gray (though some are, most can be definitively categorized as either morally good or bad, and ALL of her main characters are definitively morally good), and no she does not write morally gray plots where “morality is just subjective!” If anything, the term I think people are looking for is “morally neutral” (meaning that the thing is not assigned a morality in and of itself) in many cases.
An mxtx character is never designated as good or bad based off their backgrounds or class: Wei Wuxian, Jin Guangyao, Shen Jiu, and Mu Qing all grow up outside of the elite class, but Mu Qing (eventually) and Wei Wuxian are unquestionably good guys while Jin Guangyao and Shen Jiu are unquestionable villains. Shen Yuan, Lan Wangji, and Xie Lian all grow up within the gentry class but are all good guys while Jiang Cheng, Jun Wu, and The Old Palace Master are bad. Likewise, life circumstances or tools don’t determine morality. In mdzs, the sword path (which is the orthodox one) is used to commit genocide by the general cultivation world just as easily as Lan Wangji wields it to protect the forsaken commoners. Wei Wuxian’s ghost path was created to protect himself before being used to protect others, but Xue Yang and the Jin Clan pervert it to cause mass destruction for their own wishes. In tgcf, Xie Lian uses his god powers to attempt to help the Yong’an people while the other gods simply collect worshippers to increase their power and oppress lesser gods. Every character I’ve listed minus the Old Palace Master has experienced intense trauma that has informed their lives and colors their morality, but it does not define why they have chosen to take on certain moral stances.
(This is not to say that mxtx doesn’t have certain tropes she dislikes, as she clearly hates the “dedicate their whole existence completely to another person” trope. Su She, a villain dedicated to Jin Guangyao, dies. Zhuzhi-lang, a sympathetic antagonist dedicated to Tianlang-jun, dies. Hua Cheng, A WHOLE LOVE INTEREST dedicated to the literal main character, dies a whopping three (3) times before he learns his lesson.)
Mxtx does not condemn those who stray from orthodoxy. In fact, every story she’s (currently) written is about the dangers of entrenched and unquestioned hierarchy and status quo giving way to corruption every time. She wants you to question the dominant narrative of the benevolent group who descend from on high to “save the ignorant masses.” She wants you to question the idea that the only people with the right of choice are those at the top of the hierarchy. She wants you to question the idea that even the smallest decision of “powerless” people does not matter in “the grand scheme of things.” She wants you to actually think about the story conventions that you accept as infallible and question whether or not it would make for good shorthand by which to understand well-written characters and story arcs (and also, hopefully, how society is structured at large). So if you find yourself reading an mxtx novel and siding with the mob characters or lamenting how x character was locked into making certain choices “against their will” or being unable to reconcile how a recognized trope led to an unexpected conclusion because “that’s not how it’s supposed to go,” then it may do you some good to stop and ask yourself “was this idea supported by the narrative that I read in the book, or is this an idea I’ve come to entirely from my own preconceived notions of how I wanted the story to turn out based on how other, similar stories have panned out?”
#human metas mxtx#mdzs#svsss#tgcf#and this isn’t to say that you can’t question mxtx’s choices#again her work BEGS you to do just that#but you can’t have an adequate critique of something you refuse to even see for what it is#if you are expecting a normative genre piece from mxtx#you will leave disappointed with the ways in which she specifically breaks those norms#you will walk away without understanding how or why she chose to do so#and you’ll misunderstand her intentions and her works by foregoing this understanding

Where is my fic where the humans never return and the Sully’s and Spider and Norm and Max and Mo’at and all the Omaticaya get to live together all happily and confront their trauma and issues in a healthy and supportive environment? It still can have plot without colonization drama okay here’s what’s happening and here is the plot:
-Neteyam is now in charge of training all the younger hunters, and he’s iconic at it. He’s very nice, but also stern and intense. He’s like Neytiri in his skills but he’s very calm and supportive, they all feel like they can trust him and come to him with issues.
-Neteyam and Jake are subtly trying to get Lo’ak to help Neteyam with this current group. They want Lo’ak to be in charge of training when Neteyam has to become Olo’eyktan. Jake has a secret ulterior motive: having his sons share the burden of being in charge of the hunters and the training, so they can both have a chiller time in the many many years (knock on wood (throwback to my sayings Jake brings to the Omaticaya post)) that they have to take charge.
-Kiri has now like, fully taken over for Neytiri as tsakarem in everything but like, official title. I’ve always had this belief that Neytiri doesn’t fit completely as tsakarem. She is a warrior more than she is a healer. She isn’t built for sitting still, staying home from the fight to heal the wounded. She has great healing skills, and she has a very strong connection to Eywa, but not as much or as strong as Mo’at and Kiri. Neytiri was never meant to be tsakarem, that was Sylwanin. The feeling of taking her sisters place has to be weird.
-Lo’ak is not a bad teacher at all. At first he struggles because he literally can’t explain how he does anything. He’s like “you draw back the bow and shoot the bow” and Neteyam is in the back facepalming like oh, my god. But, eventually he learns. He recognizes someone doing something wrong and what it is and is able to translate that into explaining how to do it right from the get go. Ironically Tuk is the most helpful in this, all of her friends are too nervous to say shit to their teachers but Tuk is just in Lo’ak’s face like “THESE DIRECTIONS MAKE NO SENSE,” and Lo’ak is deep breathing attempting not to kill her in front of Eywa and everyone. He is here to set a good example and to prove to his dad and Neteyam he can be a leader, and killing Tuk will not help with that image. Even if it would be satisfying.
-Mo’at and Spider have been testing Kiri’s Eywa connection for months. It’s a secret. Spider brought it up to Mo’at one day, and Mo’at was like “Very good observation young one, I have noticed this too. Let’s try to figure it out.” And Spider’s all pleased because she basically said she can tell he’s observant and sensitive to Eywa just like her. They clear entire days and tell anyone if it’s an emergency to find Neytiri, and then they just tell Kiri to go and they follow her into the forest and see what happens. Kiri thinks they are overreacting, but she likes a chill forest day with two of her favorite people. Sometimes they find a rare herb Mo’at was running low on, and then the next day they happen to need it for something. One time Kiri found a palulukan pup trapped under a piece of Sampson that had eroded and fallen. One time they just ended up finding some really good fruit and Kiri fell asleep surrounded by atokirina while Spider and Mo’at ate the fruit and chatted over her. One time while she was sleeping a sunbeam started to really beam right on her face, and then a tree sort of shifted and the leaves covered it. They both saw it and maybe it could’ve been the wind, but that was the best Kiri observation day.
-Jake and Lo’ak’s mission to get Neteyam to chill out has been going on since he was like seven and told on Jake to Neytiri for balancing Lo’ak on one hand, which scares Neytiri. Jake told him snitches get stitches and he didn’t know what it meant but he took it very seriously. Now, Neteyam is not a tattletale, but he is a stick in the mud. Maybe Lo’ak steals a little extra alcohol (I know they have alcohol it’s in that deleted scene but idk what it’s called okay) from the clan’s celebration one night to share with Kiri and Spider, and Neteyam isn’t tattling but he is judging. Judgmentally. Maybe Neteyam hasn’t told Jake about Spider and Lo’ak practicing Spider jumping off of cliffs for Lo’ak to catch on his ikran, but he is definitely watching with the most disapproving looks he can manage. The mission is daunting, but Jake and Lo’ak will get Neteyam to relax if it kills them. And if it does, they can always resort to Lo’ak’s final option that Jake keeps vetoing: drug him when he isn’t expecting it.
-Tuk’s band of friends are all obsessed with Spider (especially the war orphans). It’s truly the worst thing that has ever happened to the Omaticaya. Tuk brought a bracelet he made her to her friends once, it was the most delicately woven bracelet ever. Kid has small hands and an extra finger, he can weave. What else is he gonna do while he’s sitting there watching Kiri trance/sleep for hours? All of a sudden, every single child needs a Spider original. He’s the Louis Vuitton of the Omaticaya. Mo’at, who’s been wearing Spider originals since she first met him when he was three and decided he was Eywa’s child, is very smug. No one dares to call her out. In fact, every Sully has a Spider original except Neytiri. Even Jake, who got an armband when Spider was very little. He still has it but that is between him and Eywa. The parents all hate this, because it means they kind of all like him. Spider’s now been around so fucking long everyone would be really sad if he left, and now they actually know it.
-How do they know they would miss Spider if he was gone?? He got sick for a month one time when he was thirteen. He caught some human sickness from a sample in the lab and because he’s literally never sick due to his mask and generally sterile environment AND the fact that he mostly lives with a different species, he got wrecked by it. Just destroyed. Everyone got kind of worried he might not make it for a while? The first few days he wasn’t there no one really noticed, besides every once and a while a “good riddance the Sully’s and that human aren’t causing a ruckus.” But the kids miss him, because their ringleader Tuk is a mess. Lo’ak and Kiri are simply moping around. Neteyam is really trying to buck everyone up and be the leader but he’s kinda lackluster. Even Mo’at is snappier than usual. Neytiri is kinda pissed, like she knew they all liked him but god at what cost? The human child was never going to make it, right? He just doesn’t belong there. Her mother of all people should know that. They’d seen what destruction humans brought, but also how fragile they were, how easy to kill. But if she has to look at Jake’s face one more time she’ll punch something so she goes storming over to the human compound to ask to see the kid. Jake and the kids can’t go see him, they don’t know if they could catch what he has. But Neytiri knows Mo’at has been going, so she’s fine. She brings him medicine and just things she knows he likes that the kids have. She does not ask or tell anyone she is going, and when the kids question where their stuff is she pretends she had no earthly idea what they are talking about. It’s fine, how many wooden “space ikran” does Lo’ak really need for his pretend assault on Earth? Neytiri visits him daily for the rest of the time he is sick. One time, towards the middle of his quarantine, he gives her a woven bracelet. It’s not up to his usual craftsmanship but it is still beautiful. The child was obviously delirious and didn’t intend for her to have that. She keeps it but does not wear it. He needs the space and the time, there is too much between them.
-Spider was not delirious. He did intend for her to wear it. He totally noticed she isn’t. But he has also noticed she doesn’t ignore him anymore, treats him almost normally. Maybe just a little too carefully and formally.
-This is particularly dramatic for the plot, but I’m partial to Eywa blessed Spider. I want him to complete his iknimaya and uniltaron and be a full member of the clan. I am a particularly huge fan of the headcanon where he can bond lightly through the back of the neck or his wrist, I like the wrist one (Bitter changed the culture of our society). I also enjoy him finding an ikran to bond with who has a deformed or cut kuru. I don’t care how, but get my man his ikran. Ooh, maybe a forest ikran, the ones the Na’vi are too big to ride. Fun-sized, Spider-sized. Here is where the drama comes in: Spider and Lo’ak dare Norm to go through the trials with him. I’ve always thought it’s odd Norm never tried, he was so jealous of Jake and he lives in the village basically. I want the drama of Norm Spellman clowning his way through the very serious rites of passage while Jake, Spider, Lo’ak, and Norm’s band of 47 adopted orphans all try so hard not to laugh at him. He’s being so SERIOUS and trying so hard but he’s not really made for this lol. I think he’s secretly doing it for Spider, to make sure no ones looking or laughing at him for being different when Norm is right there acting a fool. I think Jake would be the most ecstatic and supportive friend while also ruthlessly bullying him.
-I think a diplomatic visit from the Metkayina and TO the Metkayina could totally happen at one point in the plot, and if we really wanted to spice it up... we could sprinkle in some locorro, but this is getting far too long already. Anyways where is this fic for me.
#a quick break from the asks#although i've almost waded through them all i've mostly caught up honestly#but this just JUMPED out of me jsut especially the neytiri and spider part#feel free to ask more about this shit or any of my other world headcanons lol#jake sully#neytiri sully#neteyam sully#lo'ak sully#kiri sully#tuktirey sully#miles spider socorro#spider socorro#spider sully#mo'at#sylwanin#norm spellman#max patel#locorro#melissa og#melissa on avatar (cameron)#we are mindmelding get in#avatar#avatar the way of water#james cameron avatar#humans never return au

anyways. i truly believe that any "fan" of stranger things who hates mike wheeler does not understand the whole point of the show. like. make it make sense
#truly baffled by people's hatred for mike. we started the show off through his eyes and as he grows up and gets more confused about his#identity we're shown things from his pov less and less. he hates himself bc he can't be who he wants to be so by default he's acting in a#way the general audience doesn't like in later seasons. if you don't get that ''breaking out of the norm'' and ''being different'' are huge#themes of the show. no wonder mike seems like an awful character. but look deeper im BEGGING he's dying on the inside trying to make#everyone happy. trying to fit it. clinging to normalcy. in a life that's never been normal#cut him some slack !!!!#ok rant over btw if you don't like mike pls block me. k bye#mike wheeler#sarah.txt

One thing I adore about PB is Tommy's approach towards modernity. Straddling the non-industrial past and the industrial/modern present; constantly positioning himself on the cutting edge, if not quite bleeding edge, of period/era technology. Cars, manufacturing, shipping, phones, typewriters. Medicine, psychology, and even bringing in incredibly modern concepts into politics in that era. He is constantly grabbing at the future. It's this striking characteristic in him, all the way from S1 when they install the phone in the Garrison - ~if only we knew someone else with a phone, we could call them~ - through to S6's final episode when he even wangles a seat on an airplane to get to Canada without wasting time. So uncommon at the time, but he just went: I need to get there with least time lost, and matched requirement to a borderline experimental non-consumer-available insider technology to do so.
(Sidestep: Such an interesting juxtaposition of all that, with the constant representation of the pre-industrial-era Romani threads in S6, too: Esme, the hills, the horse, the curse, the mythology, the vardo, all that slamming up against an actual cutting edge submachinegun, so ‘contemporary’ it’s actually anachronistic by a few years (if my research was right, it’s a WWII weapon that submachinegun, not to get on the symbolism, but). Arguably, Ruby in hospital having the most contemporary medical treatment available while Tommy goes walkabout to lift a curse is another notable juxtaposition.
There’s also an interesting slant of his modernity balanced against what I call his hoarding habit — the most cutting edge piece of tech or modernity in 1923 he’s still hanging onto in 1933. But yeah, even with that the juxtapositions are interesting because they can only happen if the forward reaching/modernity focus is there)
So, when I see contemporary-modern!AU takes of Tommy that are like, representing him as a relatively humdrum part of the capitalist consumer status quo, or even as a luddite who can't and won't use an Iphone, I scratch my head. I do think he’s *not* much of an innovator, but he is absolutely a considered first-gen adopter and recognises (and takes) opportunity regarding tech innovation with little concern for risk.
I have contemplated would rich modern!AU Tommy with disposable income finance startups if they pitched well: probably yes, because he takes gambles; with a personally vested interest in the innovators in the same way he had that vested interest in Bonnie. Startups as horses or boxers on a diff playing field, win some, lose some, etc.
#There’s also how modern Tommy is probably a weapons trafficker of some sort too#but can still scratching at how it all translates#Only bothers w illegal drugs because breaking into the international pharmacology cartel is too hard#The thing that really changes in contemporary era is the ease of global reach. Tommy was an innovator in the 20/30s because he looked globa#As soon as he could#from his class-bound ethnically diverse neighbourhood. Internationality was always there but it was a difference#Compared to now global reach is more the norm not the innovation#Anyway modern AU Tommy is interesting because representing that ‘future reach’ he shows in the 1920s rarely seems to be explored…#Another part of this thinking is me wondering *why* I keep seeing in-my-head-contemporary!Tommy in Japan on business trips#think it’s something to do with the same interesting juxtaposition of the pre industrial traditionality with bleeding-edge in Japan

Botw is fun but im very happy to have another old style zelda game
#zelda#echoes of wisdom#linear story! a friend to adventure with who helps! story driven plot!#all my favorite things about zelda#botw is very fun and a nice break from the norm#but it feels empty and loney#and you can very easily play the entire game and not get any story beyond the unskippable beginning#idk i just like playing a story in a game#if i ever motivate myself to actually work towards my goals and make a game from one of my stories thats the way i want it to go#fjdjshsbshsjsj
