I kind of love that the Morbius movie is now the standard measurement of failure. Doing worse than Morbius is kind of like tripping on your own feet right out of the gate and eating racetrack dirt.
#Either my sanity is gone or it's kind of funny#movies#box office flop#Every damn flop we Morb fans must deal with the jokes again#Much apologizing to my boy 616 Morbius#You did not deserve the new kick to your rep every damn time it comes up

I saw the trailer for “Fly Me to the Moon” a while back. It’s a comedy about faking the Apollo moon landing starring Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson. They are popular and good looking. I thought it would be a hit.
I was wrong. It opened very nearly on the 55th anniversary of the actual moon landing and… failed spectacularly at the box office. It earned only $31 million against its $100 million budget. It probably needed to make $200 to break even.
Aftering being away on vacation, it’s the first movie I decided to see - purely based on my reaction to the trailer. I didn’t read and reviews in advance. I had hoped it would be an old fashioned screwball comedy. But I don’t think director Greg Berlanti knew what kind of movie he wanted to make. He has directed 3 other movies (two gay comedies) but most of his experience is with superhero shows (aka The ArrowVerse).
The movie starts off okay… Johansson plays a super successful New York ad executive right out of “Madmen”. Woody Harrelson arrives as a super secret Richard Nixon operative who needs her to improve the public’s perception of the Apollo program. For some reason he needed to blackmail her which didn’t quite make sense.
In Florida Johansson and Tatum met-cute. He’s the Apollo mission’s launch director and doesn’t think he needs her help. He resists her every way he can.
After successfully doing her job, Harrelson then tells Johansson he wants a backup plan in case the moon landing fails. He wants her to organized a secret fake film of the landing to broadcast instead. Of course this puts her at odds with her budding romance with Tatum.
Let me cut to the chase… even if this is a screwball comedy (which it’s not) the plot makes no sense. Harrelson wants to use the actual audio of Armstrong/Aldrin from the moon but use the fake video of Johansson’s mock up. Huh?
If the Lunar Module arrived without crashing, no disaster, therefore the fake footage is unnecessary.
Then there’s the fake drama created as a wedge between Johansson and Tatum. Apparently Johansson’s character has a secret criminal past (just like Don Draper) that Harrelson uses to blackmail her. This was so unnecessary - couldn’t she just have been a successful ad exec without that bullsh#t?
Then there’s Tatum’s backstory. He feels personally guilty for the deaths of the astronauts in the Apollo 1 launch testing disaster. I can just imagine the writer’s room discussion about how they needed to add more gravitas to the story and let Tatum prove his acting chops. Again totally unnecessary.
At the age of 44, Tatum is 8 years older than Gene Kranz was in 1969 (the actual flight director). In his first scene I noticed that Tatum looked like he had very obvious stage makeup. Throughout the movie, except for two lines between his eyebrows, he had absolutely no wrinkles… no crows feet when he smiled, no lines across his forehead, no laugh lines. (BTW, Kranz was not the flight director for Apollo 1.)
At the end, the movie attempts to become a comedy again with antics involving Chekhov’s Black Cat. When all else fails, throw in some slapstick. (The poster above spoilers the ending.)
And my final petpeeve - Berlanti, who is opening gay, included a character (played by gay actor Jim Rash) who is the worst gay stereotype - he can only be described as “f@ggy”.
The fact that the movie flopped at the box office, probably doesn’t matter to Apple Studios who produced it. They didn’t care that 2023’s “Napoleon” lost $165 million.

Jenna’s beloved fans are trying to cancel her over this movie : https://youtu.be/82K_PfvcNBg?si=IC0uLtsO4ARsCOln
I feel like Rich here is the Average Person.
You, me, the Twitter and TikTok Twats, everybody in the freaking Jennaverse: We're not average. This shit is on our dashes and fyps every day. Stans like the Twats have a bit of a skewed perception of her star power because of it.
Rich is obviously not into Wednesday, or her movies, or her Disney garbage. He might be someone old ass who just doesn't pay attention to pop culture stuff. But it also seems to show that average people aren't really seeing much of her outside of the internet.
And I think that the Mogwai might be coming to the quick realization that 40M followers means shit when it comes to bringing in the box office for her movies...or she should. (Natalie on the other hand hasn't, and keeps blowing smoke into the asses of the same people who are deliberately trying to screw with Ortega's box office and sales on WSSF.) They're both pushing hard for HUT because of it.
She knows how to scream and cry (and play a character like Wednesday, so maybe she needs more character work). But every other role is just herself in a different Mommy Issued font. Since there's a lot of screaming and crying in HUT, she'll do well as far as acting goes, but is she the box office draw? She wasn't with DOAU, and no amount of tit shown can make up for the fact that it bombed badly.
I think Aliyah's car might be worth more than what her sister's movie grossed in New Zealand. 💀
I really don't know who her advisers are, but they're not working. They are not. Working. The only big, steady thing she might have going for her right now is being Burton's girl, but even that has its limits. Portman is the real star of The Gallerist, Klara and the Sun won't be taken seriously by Average People since this isn't really all that novel an idea... we've seen it before
youtube
(I looooove this show, go watch or fuck off.)
What else she got? The J.J. Abrams thing? 🤔 I dunno if that has a draw either. Do any of the upcoming film projects ASIDE from any sequels have the kind of B.O. (🤣) that will bring in the bag or did she just curse her career forever with her dog's name? She needs Gremlins 3. It will be a shame if she doesn't get it.
WSSF won't be big box office and will be floppy. As for HUT, even the Weeknd's stans are predicting a flop
There's supposed to be some kind of fan event two days before the official release. If so, this is how crowded my theater is for it so far

Bay Street's more popular

Imma keep an eye on the Jack London Square venue LOL

Warner Bros. spent $125 million to produce “Wonka" and at least that amount of money if not more to promote Wonka around the world.
So over the weekend Wonka made $39 million at the domestic box office and $112.4 million at the international box office to bring its total to $151.4 million.
To be only 26 million over budget is very disappointing, especially during the holidays and more box office competition is coming.
I don't blame Timothee' s relationship with Kylie Jenner for the low numbers ( I saw people out there doing that). I think in general people didn't know what to expect from this prequel and didn't know any of the songs in the movie, they could have done a better job of getting the songs out there.
I fully expect Dune Part Two to do way way better, everyone is excited about that movie.

Exclusive: Walt Disney's Pixar targets 'Lightyear' execs among 75 job cuts
Walt Disney's (DIS.N) Pixar Animation Studios has eliminated 75 positions including those of two executives behind box office disappointment “Lightyear,” sources said on Saturday, the first significant job cuts at the studio in a decade.
The cuts included "Lightyear" director Angus MacLane, a 26-year animator who was part of the senior creative team on such acclaimed films as “Toy Story 4” and “Coco.” Galyn Susman, producer of "Lightyear," also departed. Susman had been at Pixar since the release of the original “Toy Story” movie in 1995.
MacLane and Susman could not be reached for comment. Michael Agulnek, Pixar's vice president of worldwide publicity since 2015, was also laid off, the sources said. He did not return a call seeking comment.
The cuts, which took place May 23, are part of Walt Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger’s previously announced plan to eliminate 7,000 jobs and slash $5.5 billion in costs. That restructuring combined the film and television groups into a single Disney Entertainment unit and eliminated a division charged with distribution.
While small compared to Pixar's employee base of about 1,200, the layoffs are notable because the studio is a creative force generating franchises and characters that drive revenue across Disney.
Pixar is famous for cinematic franchises including “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles” and “Cars.” But “Lightyear,” released a year ago with a reported budget of $200 million, brought in a modest $226.7 million in worldwide ticket sales and received a mixed critical reception.
By contrast, Pixar's "Incredibles 2" in 2018, which was reported to have had a similar production budget, had worldwide box office sales of $1.2 billion.
“Lightyear” could not be shown in 14 Middle Eastern and Asian countries because of its depiction of a same-sex relationship. This had an impact on its box office performance.
Disney has implemented layoffs in every division including film and television, streaming services and theme parks.
The last time Pixar cut jobs was in 2013, after the studio postponed the release of the 2015 film “The Good Dinosaur,” and removed its director, Bob Peterson. About 30 positions were eliminated.
Disney acquired Pixar in 2006 to revitalize its struggling Disney Animation.

Conversations with Grok
Q: Based on the data available, including the trends for recent Disney live action remakes, do your best to project the total box office takings domestically and internationally for Snow White's cinema run. I realize it's very hard to predict; I'm looking for your best estimate. [ DeepSearch enabled ]
A:
[ Detailed analysis omitted ]
Final Estimate and Considerations Based on the above, the projected total box office takings for Snow White (2025) are approximately $100 million domestically and $150 million internationally, totaling $250 million. This estimate accounts for current earnings, projected drop-off rates, and the impact of controversies, particularly on international performance. While the film may see steady family audience turnout, its mixed reception and external factors suggest it will not reach the heights of Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King, aligning more closely with Dumbo's $291 million total. This projection, while uncertain, reflects a balanced view given the data available as of March 30, 2025.

"Netflix’s Costliest Gamble: $320M Flop That Outspent Avatar & The Avengers
When streaming platforms first emerged, they have been seen as a extra budget-friendly various to the big-ticket expertise. In consequence, the movies that have been launched straight on OTT have been smaller in scale, if not star energy. That has modified over the previous couple of years, with huge filmmakers bringing superstars to the small screens in movies which have astronomical budgets.…

Damn…sales, ratings and overall numbers must be down so bad that Jenna has to promote DOAU a lot for people to actually care about it….lol and these people who shit on WSSF want me to believe that she “loves” these movies more than WSSF? Nahhhh I think it’s because she wants more money 😂

They haven't even bothered listing returns for yesterday (when they have for other movies), which dropped it to 19 (it'll adjust itself when the returns come in, but domestically it looks grim...I'm sure it'll break records in Brazil though 💀).
And now she's dropping titty for the next floppapotamus lookin like She Knows
Nobody likes the lightened eyebrows.

Vincent, I love you man, but ya dun goofed. We do not like the Mia Goth look on her. We don't even like the virtual lack of eyebrows on most people, it's why the meme exists
Fuck right off w that shit. Also blend a little more on that tit makeup. I have the rest of my opinion on her overall look on the previous post. It's a good look, I hate the lightened brows, but at least she has some brows.

For the rest of your thoughts anon, sure, we can look at it that way too. At this point, WSSF would definitely not be a box office draw even it were released domestically so there's no need to even try. It just needs to come out on streaming already.
NEW poll time because the last one didn't last the length I wanted it to, plus it ended in a tie anyway:
