all the album and music polls going around this site have radicalized me… votes abound for insert contemporary white punk/pop/metal/indie rock artist and yet for a dollar you cant name a black blues or soul or rock n roll (or ska! or reggae! or dub!) artist … are you not embarrassed? its like trying to do calculus without learning arithmetic. where do you think any of this came from! western popular music would not exist without black music, point blank. do you, tumblr user, understand what that means, or did you just reblog an info post about sister rosetta tharpe once and call it good.

The Bojan one I think is quite well known-ish, or at least it's somewhat easy to find cause he's got like Njen Korak on there, and the Jan one is the first thing that comes up when you search his name on YouTube but I recently accidentally came across the Kris one the other day and I thought that others might like to see it.

They're all legit or whatever, there's just one video on Bojan's (Njen Korak, it's a song he released when he was like 14 or whatever so he looks super young in the clip), two on Kris' (some guitar covers he did in the early years of the band, back in the 2017 hair days), and a bunch on Jan's one (I think all or mostly covers of other songs).

I’ve been exposed to waaaay too much taylor swift lately, so I went for a walk on the anti tag to cleanse my mind. I’ve seen a lot of commentary about her racism / privilege / climate crimes etc, which is all extremely important ofc, but also, like…

She’s boring. SO boring. The music, the lyrics, the ideas, everything, it’s just the most basic stuff you can imagine, just beige all around.

I get being basic but, like… at least Starbucks drinks have some semblance of taste.

it’s funny to me that ethel cain and chappell roan share such a big fan base bc i think their music theoretically appeals to like diametrically opposite types of lgbt women but i also think for more recently out people they eat up anything made by lesbian/bi/trans women no matter how disparate bc i was that way when i was younger. but ethel cain’s music genuinely makes me feel so seen and chappell roan is i think the way taylor swift haters feel about taylor swift where they think it’s less about the music and more about a cool kids’ club. i am not pretty or extraverted or fun enough to get anything from chappell roan even though i think she’s very talented and a really good vocalist in particular and i also find her vibe obnoxious actually
