Ever notice how it's "most women have gone through sexual harassment and assault even though most men claim to not personally know any rapists, a high chance that all men cover for their predatory friends and should be held accountable" even with men who haven't committed sexual assault, but when it's time for women to be held accountable for supporting and dating rapists, it's "women are not responsible for men's actions"? I have...
#and women do absolutely benefit from rape because it's an effective way to remove competition on the “dating market”#an attractive woman gets a tad too traumatized after an event like that and can't stand men anymore#boom more chances for another woman to bag a man...

Part 1 | Part 2
WAKE UP BABES!! DINNER IS SERVED!!!
Bruce/Brandi x Reader: part 2
Includes: GN! Reader, Vacay Lovers, polyamory, relationship headcanons, slight Bruce Jr. slander
💜 These two took things slow when they were wooing you, you better BELIEVE they're gonna do the same once you've actually been bagged
🧡 I MEAN DON'T GET ME WRONG!! They're not any less passionate about you or anything, but like... c'mon. They're middle-aged, run a full time business and are married with kids. They've got a lot on their hands already so chances are they're not immediatly urging you to move in with them or just straight up sign marriage documents (sorry to disappoint u_u)
💜 But like I said: this doesn't mean they're not good lovers
🧡 In fact I'd say in my entirely unbiased opinion that they'd make fantastic lovers! Wonderful! Superb, even!
💜 So naturally, once you find yourself added to the relationship? Expect all that supportive energy thrown your way too lol
🧡 No matter what endeavor you choose to pursue, rest easy knowing you'll have your own personal cheerleaders having your back at all times. You got a hobby you're really into? SAY LESS BABES!! Gift-giving is Brandi's love language so you bet your ass she's buying you everything you could possibly need. Wanna pursue some form of higher education, maybe get some fancy degree? BOOM, you've just signed yourself up for study sessions with Bruce
💜 (I mean like... he might not be much help if you're studying for something shmancy like law or medicine, but he will happily hold and read out flashcards for you :3)
🧡 Or maybe you just wanna help out around Vacay Island which? Yes hello they would love that??
💜 Running a business is no easy feat so the couple definitely welcome the extra set of hands (paws??). If you're more social and outgoing then chances are you're out on the front lines with Bruce, taking orders for food, welcoming guests and getting them settled in, leading activites like volleyball or the weekly shuffleboard tournament, etc.
🧡 Obviously if you'd rather remain behind the scenes, you're more than welcome to join Brandi on her end of things. Making food, booking guests into their rooms, keeping track of all the finances, etc.
💜 Maybe you're crap with spreadsheets and numbers and just wanna like... keep her company while she works at her desk? Grab her some refreshments every now and then?? Maybe even offer a shoulder massage once you've noticed she's been hunched over for too long???
🧡 I swear this woman will cherish you forever
💜 Whether you're another troll like Bruce or a fellow Vacationer like Brandi, the way you spend time with either of these two can differ
🧡 If you're on the smaller side? Bruce just enjoys getting to hold your hand while walking alongside you on the beach. The man spends pretty much all his time around literal giants and it can get a little overwhelming sometimes, so he can definitely appreciate having someone around who's more on his level (hehe). Brandi on the other hand just thinks your small size is cute! Hands down one of her favorite things is when either you or Bruce (OR BOTH) just like? Casually hitch a ride on her shoulder?? Or she'll hold you both in the palm of of her hand and just go "omigosh it's totally like holding a couple of grapes haha :D"
💜 Reader POV: Ah yes. Me, my boyfriend, and our giant girlfriend/wife
🧡 On the flipside, if you're closer to Brandi's size? This woman is taking every available opportunity to take full advantage of the fact. She's laying kisses all over your face, running her fingers through your hair, cuddling with you after a long day of work, etc etc. Technically speaking she COULD (and DOES) do all this regardless of how big/small you are... but at the same time it's just soooo much easier when she doesn't have to constantly watch herself so she doesn't accidentally crush you ://
💜 Meanwhile Bruce is just like "if either of you DO crush me... you won't hear any complaints from my end, just sayin"
🧡 Man is horrendously down bad 😳
💜 Last post i was like OUTINGS WITH BRANDI, but this post?? SURFING LESSONS WITH BRUCE! This man will not rest until you know how to ride a wave, okay, he is DEDICATED. Once you've gotten good enough, expect regular invites to the beach so you two can hit the ocean asdjahdslak
🧡 I like to think that even while running a business and family, Bruce and Brandi are still perfectly capable of maintaining a healthy love life— both with each other and you. Partly because they're just that in love but also cuz they don't let ANYTHING get in the way of weekly date nights (yeah that's right, plural)
💜 Bruce, on the phone: "Hey honey, me and (____) are outside the resturaunt. Where are you?"
"Oh, I'll probably be a few minutes. Bruce Jr. just set off a firework in the kitchen, you know how he is. But you two should go get us a table while you're waiting!"
"Alright, we'll see you later, love you :)"
"I love you guys more~"
🧡 And then Bruce just... hangs up and leads you inside the resturaunt, meanwhile you're just?? Very concerned????
💜 Dates with these two are pretty casual ngl. Neither feel the need for extravagant displays of love, so chances are the three of you are just spending some quality time together. Chillin at home without the kids, cooking/baking food together, watching reality TV
💜 (Tbh there's probably some trollverse version of The Bachelor/Bachelorett and lemme tell you that these two EAT THAT SHIT UP)
🧡 Of course if you wanna go out somewhere fancy then no worries!! Your girl Brandi knows the downlow on all the hottest spots in town and Bruce likely has enough connections to get you three reservations at even the fanciest restaurants
💜 Simply ask and these two will find a way to get it done <33
🧡 LOTS OF FAMILY OUTINGS WITH THE VACAY LOVERS HOUSEHOLD!!!
💜 At some point in the relationship Bruce will approach you and go "Hey, our son Benni has a dance recital tomorrow, did you wanna come?" and the second you say yes is the second you offically become a permanent member of the family. You are joining their monthly family camping trips. You are helping Brandi make cupcakes for school soccer games. You and Bruce are sitting down with the kids for homework help
🧡 Hopefully you've got good memory cuz you're gonna need to memorize 13 different fast food orders whenever the kids drag you to Bergen King askdhalslk
💜 Speaking of the little shits
🧡 You thought you were spending a lot of time with them BEFORE you were smoochin their parents?? Well congrats because the second you start becoming a permanent member at the dinner table, expect to have all 13 of them constantly hanging off you
💜 Maybe one of them needs your help practicing a new move they've learned from their martial arts class, maybe another wants someone to listen as they info dump about their latest hyperfixation, or maybe they just need help kickstarting their underground fireworks selling business
🧡 Cough cough (Bruce Jr) cough cough
ASJKJDHALJSKD THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN, I LOVE THESE TWO SO MUCH!! There were a for more headcanons i wanted to touch upon but the post was getting long lol. Definitely plan on doing more for them tho so no worries uwu
but i mean like if you guys got prompts/questions then go ahead, my asks are open 👀👉👈
#bruce jr. had like 10 seconds of screentime total#10 seconds is all i need to clock him as the family Shit-Stirer(tm)#(was gonna shorten his name to BJ but like...)#(i mean i'll slander him alright)#(but im not gonna do him THAT dirty)#trolls#trolls band together#bruce trolls#brandi trolls#Vacay Lovers#brozone#headcanon#brozone x reader#trolls x reader#x reader#spruce trolls

It's only pretend right? ( Bucky barnes x reader) part two
summary : the morning the two get to the ranch only to discover the stay is longer than intended , Bucky meets her family some great and some honestly pissed him off , as if the seeing her judgemental family her ex was also there but still in all that she ignored it ready to show bucky they things that made her love coming home shitty extended family or not
warning: majority of this is fluffy some shitty people but bucky is there to keep her smiling
(previous part )
“ wakey wakey kiddo” Clint's voice boomed throughout the room sending her startled form out the bed. “ we’re leaving in 20 minutes. I was also informed to tell you that Bucky will have food and coffee on the jet” he chuckled seeing her on the floor glaring up at the man.
“ gotta ask laura if she would enjoy the widow life , ” she grumbled heading towards the bathroom .
“ nah she loves me too much and so do you , just not like how you love bucky” he teased .
“ Everybody knows I like bucky?”she came out a minute later.
“ everyone but bucky , enhanced sense my ass” he muttered.
“ it’s 5 am even steve knows to not wake me up so early bird man what is your deal ” she whined looking at the phone.
“ Get dressed, you can sleep on the jet” he called, pushing her back to the bathroom with the clothes the girls were so kind to pick out for her the night before.
“ when did you become so bossy?” she growled
“ Oh shut up , get dressed,” he chuckled .
“ told you she doesn’t like to be woken up , she didn’t stab you either that good” nat assessed.
“ she didn’t get a chance” he winked.
“ Nat Your MALE best friend is going to be visiting the bermuda triangle so say bye bye” she walked out rubbing her eyes and yawning before shooting the man with another glare.
“ Nice knowing you barton , you grumpy sit down” she saluted the man before taking the hair brush in her hand. She sat as nat tackled the bird nest that was her bed head eyes dropping slightly .
“ Ten more minutes” she mumbled before Clint lifted her up, making her yelp before walking out the room and down the hallway , Nat following after.
“Are you excited to see your family kid?… Y/n … is she .. she’s asleep” he turned to see nat standing trying to suppress her laughter as the woman on his shoulders let out soft snores .
“ oh this little shit”he grumbled heading out to the jet .
“ hey doll” bucky smirked seeing clint carrying her onto the jet.
“She’s still asleep” he grunted, placing her down on the chair as she stirred , waking up again.
“ Here's some coffee doll,” the man smiled .
“ hey thank you bucky , good morning” she beamed before taking a generous gulp. “ Where was my goodmorning “ Clint looked to her, arms crossed.
“ back in the room when you scared it out of me” she took the tupperware filled with food.
“ Just friends my ass” he turned, seeing the two filled with adoration for each other .
The trip wasn’t long enough when Clint landed the jet near her family's ranch before rushing them out .
“ Enjoy , have fun and I'll collect you guys in two weeks” he called a mischievous smirk as the two spun around.
“ Did he just say two weeks?” she asked.
“ he did and apparently we weren’t told” he held up the phone to see the team texting them to enjoy the time off.
“ I mean I have Stark's black card so the second week doesn’t have to be here” she held the black plastic up and a devious smirk on her face.
“ I mean I could use a vacation” he chuckled, both turning to see her mother and father coming out smiles painted on their faces as they walked up the drive.
“ Natasha just told me we have you both for two weeks isn’t that exciting,” her mother cooed.
“ she is not getting that prada bag.. Hey mama , pops where is everyone” she smiled softly hugging them.
“ Nice to see you sir , ma'am,” bucky smiled, shaking their hands.
“ Son, call me frank” her father pulled him into a hug .
“ and me beth , your aunt owes me fifty for this” she giggled, hugging her then him . “So good to see you both but i must say seeing her smile this hour of the morning is strange, you must have the touch mr barnes” her father chuckled.
“ Please call me Bucky or James, please both of you and I didn't wake her. It is my secret” he laughed.
“ I aint that bad” she grumbled.
“ doll loki is afraid to go near your room in the morning and i think Clint learned his lesson” he nudged her softly.
“ he’s not wrong , i mean you nearly stabbed jack” her mother nodded.
“ Well my dumbass brother shouldn’t have worn a mask” she rolled her eyes.
“ Speaking of Jack , he and Helen and Izzy and Maya are staying at a hotel along with the rest of the family.” her mother smiled as she and her father cheered.
“ oh give it up to you two , grandma is still staying here” her mother rolled her eyes. `` which one?” she whispered to her dad while Bucky smiled at the close bond the two seem to share.
“ Her mother , so the evil one” her dad winced.
“ Bucky ..baby you’re catholic right? '' she asked .
“ I mean I was back in the 40s” He almost melted at the pet name.
“ She's going bingo Thursday so Izzy will propose to Maya then it will be just us as a family rest will be out ” her mother sadly smiled.
“ Why do we have to entertain these assholes?” Y/N asked.
“ Because they are still family, '' her mother shot back .
“ Well they don’t treat us like that,” she shook her head.
“ it's not even for the full week we can do it kitty” her dad wrapped his arm around her as they approached the house. “ your mama set your room up for both of you so bring your bags up and join us for breakfast” he smiled as she froze turning to her friend.
“ Sorry I didn’t think we’d have to share a room for a week, nevermind two” she winced.
“ it’s ok we bunked together on a mission and sleepover in the compound” he brushed it off pretending his prayers weren’t just answered and frankly he thought his acting skills were Oscar worthy at that moment .
“ ok we can do this” she nodded before taking his hand in hers .
“ Show me the way, little cowgirl” he winked, making her burst into laughter.
Thankfully the rest of the morning was quiet once they finished breakfast ,she helped her mom with preparing lunch while Bucky offered to help her father with some of the chores on the ranch.
“ My , my a little kitty has gotten into the kitchen” she heard the voice before she felt him lift her up swinging her in a bruising hug.
“ Jack in the box” she laughed excitedly.
“ Where is this fella who thinks he’s good enough for my little sister?” he puffed his chest and stood a little taller.
“Behind you” her father chuckled as the two walked into the kitchen .
“ holy shit that’s sergeant james barnes' ' her brother's tough guy act fell instantly.
“ aww shit i owe mama 50” her sister izzy pushed past the men before hugging her sister tightly.
“ Who else owes you money?” She turned to her mother.
“ A couple of your uncles and aunts,” she shrugged, heading back to the food.
“ So where are my future sister in laws?” she asked quietly.
“ how good at you with controlling that little gift of yours” jack stood back shooting izzy a worried glance.
“ Why are you asking?” she crossed her arms as the man gulped.
“They’re outside with Eli. '' Izzy called hiding behind jack.
'' as in the cheating , dick of an ex left me alone in a big city alone , that eli '' she felt the heat on her finger tips til a sudden coldness snapped her back to reality .
“ I got you, '' Bucky whispered in that voice, instantly melting the annoyance.
“ fuck please never leave” izzy patted the man on the back
.” yeah took us forever to grow out our eyebrows last time , he’s my best friend and helen's brother” he smiled sadly to his sister .
“ KITTY” her head whipped to see the two women pulling her to their arms.
“ good to see you Y/N” his voice had the hair on her body standing like bucky could sense it pulling her to him and wrapping his arm around her waist tightly.
“ See my sister the avenger pulled sergeant james barnes” Jack smiled brightly.
“ Please, it’s bucky” he waved to them .
“I'm a big fan, Bucky,” Eli smiled.
“ Mr. Barnes to you son” he turned, ignoring the outstretched hand pulling the knife out of his back pocket . " i forget i had this , hey beth why do i help you with lunch my knife skills are almost criminal " he smirked seeing the man pale .
“ I like this one,” her father beamed.
“ Me too” Helen chuckled before shooting her own brother a glare.
.................
“ So how did y’all meet?” Eli asked, taking his seat across , most of the family arriving.
“ work dummy” Helen rolled her eyes.
“ oh yeah your mom told us you took to being an avenger , what are you the secretary? '' her uncle joked.
“ No, she is part of the team , she beast on a mission.. But always safe, super cautious "Bucky spoke up ,then he added seeing the worry on her parents' faces .
“ I mean she's always been a spitfire,” Jack chuckled.
“ yeah she beat up those boys that picked on you when we were kids” izzy high fived her little sister.
“ You allow her to do that,” another uncle scoffed.
“ I don't own her so she’s free to do what she wants ma’am” bucky laughed thinking it was a joke but from her expression , he wondered what else she hid from the team when it came to her own family.
“ We thought it was made up, “ her aunt laughed as her shoulder tense.
“ Is your son out of rehab yet oh sorry i wasn’t supposed to say that was i? is he out of that college for drugs ” her father asked as she and her sibling hide the giggles.
“Hey bucky wanna see my horse? '' she asked, feeling the man's jaw clench and tension build throughout the table .
“ Sure doll” he smiled softly when his eyes set on her . Almost pulling him out the door as they all watched judging like always . she barely got out the door before he pulled her to a halt .
“ ok what the hell was that” he asked with an almost sad tone in his voice.
“ I may be the black sheep of a judgmental as hell family. I know I should've warned you,” she let out a sigh, wringing her hands.
" Is this why you don’t visit home much?” he asked softly.
“ You cracked that code huh?, i mean even if she can be bitchy i still write to my grandma and my folks visit and i ring siblings regularly but the rest i avoid because i’m never good enough and I thought maybe with a boyfriend and great job would help nope” she sighed.
“ How long are they staying for?” he asked, wrapping his arms around as she melted in his embrace.
“ They leave in a couple of days which is too long” her father's voice rang out. “ you ok kitty?” he asked softly.
“ I'm fine papa , we're going to bring bucky on my trail ” she smiled sadly.
“ What is this kitty I keep hearing?” Bucky asked, smiling as her cheeks heated.
“ oh she ain’t told you that one yet , ” her father chuckled . “ After the madness i’ll tell you “ he added before walking into the house.
“ Let's go see these horses” she rushed off before he could ask her more.
“ Oh no back here doll face ” he chuckled, chasing after her as her father watched from the front door with a smile so wide he couldn’t remember the last time he saw it so free on her face not a force one as she took the battering of their words .
“ he's a bit old for her, no? '' her fathers eyes rolled walking in they barely waited til she was out the door before the nit picking started .
'' yeah isn’t he like a hundred or something” eli added.
“ he was frozen doesn’t count” her brother shook his head
“ he makes her smile i don’t care if he is a thousand years old” her father almost snapped at the guest at the table.
“ That job is so unsafe, people are gonna know she one of those thing ” her aunt shook her head.
“Well ain't we lucky you ain’t doing it , she could be a lunch lady and you’d find a problem in it and ain't nothing wrong with her ” he looked at the woman .
“What is your problem with Y/N? least she not a junkie or a dim witted whore like your kids '' izzy asked hating how it was alway y/n they would attack or show disgust at .
'' You know what our problem is? She’s not even … ''.
“ everybody stop yelling and eat your food” the elderly woman yelled, instantly shutting them up, eyeing the sneaking touches from her eldest granddaughter before the two went to eat their food. “ Sorry mama” and “ grandmama” were uttered around the table as the woman looked out the window at her granddaughter running around smiling . “ she is very happy” she murmured as the rest ignored her words, bragging about their fake lives .
“ Here bucky bear is star , she is the best horse in the state nah in the whole of the US although i might be biased”she winked as she patted the mare’s side.
“ she is a pretty one, star nice name ,it's cute ” he mused but a black mane caught his eyes . “ Who's this?” he asked, walking toward the one across.
“ Oh moon, he's the new one , my pops rescued him , the previous owner said he ain’t nothing good but my dad sees the best in everything i think i get that from him” she smiled .
“ he seems ok to me” he patted the horse .
“ he’s misunderstood like someone i know” she mused only for the horse to kick the stall . “ You must be fed up there huh buddy” she mused.“ What do you say bucket wanna see my childhood being little cowgirl and all that ” she walked towards the saddles.
“ Lead the way doll” he smiled as she handed it to him but the minute the stall opened the jet black stallion made its way toward the almost stark white mare's head rubbing hers.
“ oh you dirty dog come kicking a fuss for the ladies huh ? ” she chuckled pulling them apart as she led star out both getting them ready before she hopped up with ease.
“ you make that too easy” he chuckled before not so gracefully getting on the stallion before she took head. Bought passing the window as her father and brother almost fell over each other seeing bucky easily walk by .
“ catch me if you can” she giggled before taking off down the trail as his horse followed after .
“ Hey, this guy is doing the work” he called.
“ That's because I think he is in love” she giggled, enjoying the feeling of the wind in her hair , taking full advantage given she didn’t get to do stuff like this back in the compound.
“ he’s not the only one” he sighed following after her. Watching her so free and smiling wider wondering if he could get tony to get something like this on the compound just to see her look like that more often .

WIP Wednesday
I do not remember who tagged me, so here we go with whom I'm tagging this week!
Tagging: @ladytanithia @tiredela @skyrim-forever @thequeenofthewinter @did3lphis
@dirty-bosmer @sheirukitriesfandom @elavoria @lillxart
Another writing WIP from me? What's going on???
Well, I'm working towards a special scene in TCoMB and so, words spilled out of me to get there faster.
So, read how Nevri is met with confusion after being escorted out of her cell at the embassy:
The inquisitor led her on and her suspicions seemed to become true; they headed for the entrance gate to the perimeter wall. On this very protective barrier, more soldiers stood, positioned for the night, one already a torch in his hand. Silent, they watched as Nevri was shoved across the courtyard. The gate came to her sight, but to her surprise no carriage awaited her there. Only another sentinel stood by it, opening the entrance when he saw them approach. The man nodded at Rulindil, a quiet greeting, as they passed. A last shove and Nevri stumbled into a snowdrift. Toppling over, she had no chance to catch herself and fell face first into the snow, ice hurting on her teeth. She wanted to roll over, see what her opponents had in store, but Rulindil’s boot on her back pressed her down. Panicked, she threw her head around to look at him and caught a glimpse of his shining dagger. Seizing her wrists, he put the edge of the blade on the rope.
“Don’t get any ideas, Dunmer,” he hissed, then cut through her bounds. He let go of her and lifted his foot. Nevri turned on her back, and crawled away from him, bringing distance between them. Her heart boomed in her chest, a war drum shaking her entire figure. Breathing heavy, she watched, as one of the guards came close and threw a dark bundle on the floor next to her. Her knapsack and shoulder bag? In confusion, she stared at the soldier. The other approached and Nevri saw what she held in her hands. Her weapons. The sword, the dagger, even the crossbow. The soldier positioned next to Rulindil, who conjured up a flame in his hand. “One false move and you are ash,” he pressed out between his teeth. “Do we understand?” Nevri understood nothing. Her mouth gaped open and she wanted to say something, but was unable to sort her thoughts. Turmoil was in her head, reflecting on the determent gaze of the ambassador; the cruelty in her expression. And that damned joy that she had shown while listening to Nevri’s wails. That woman wasn't going to give that up so easily. So, why was she sitting here now in knee-deep snow?

For them, For us [6] (Obi-wan x Reader)
Summary: Following the Kenobi series, two former Jedi masters Obi-wan Kenobi and Y/n Marilla are grieving the lost of Anakin, Padme, and the jedi purge. After pledging to watch over Luke Skywalker and spending ten years in exile and making a life together, what will happen when the mistakes they made in their past come back as a new threat?
Warnings: Canon typical violence but that should be it
Authors note: IM ALIVE AND BACK BITCHES ive been working on this on and off for the last few months that its gotten way longer than i was planning and I still have 14 pages that I spilt off from this for the final part and maybe a epilogue as well but I've missed this series so much and if you enjoyed this very overdue update please let me know down below!
Prologue - Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5
You and Obi-wan watched Leia comfort people with Lola as the explosions grew closer together, the small droid beeping happily at a little boy and his mother. She must've sensed your presence because she turned around and smiled as you waved her over.
Obi-wan kneeled on the ground as you stood behind him, when Leia walked over clutching Lola.
“They're scared.” she said, another explosion boomed outside. “She keeps their mind off of it.”
“Maybe I should borrow her too.” Obi-wan suggested.
Leia looked at him confused.
“Why?”
You sighed and placed a nervous hand on Obi-wan's shoulder.
“Leia, Ben and I…” you swallowed nervously, this was harder than you thought it would be, Leia watched you with big eyes as you sucked in a deep breath.
“We’re going to go after Vader, but you're going to stay here.”
Leia's eyes grew wide and she shook her head in protest.
“No! No way! You can’t just leave me here!” she shouted.
“We’re the ones Vader wants. If we go he will follow.” Obi-wan explained gently.
“No, I'm not letting you!”
“Leia, please.” you begged.
Everyone was looking now, worry and fear as they heard what the two of you were planning to do. The woman who Leia was talking to moments ago now stood up and looked at you and Obi-wan confused.
“Wait, what happened to all of us staying together?!”
Another explosion went off, making you run a frustrated hand over your face before you looked at her with an exasperated look.
“Roken needs more time to fix the ship, this will give him that time!” you sighed, clasping your hands together like you were begging. “You have spent ten years protecting the Jedi, this is our chance to return the favor.”
“But we're so close!” Roken argued.
“Roken, you know this plan makes sense!” you replied grimly.
“No, we need you!” Sully now chimed in.
“It’ll buy you the time you need! You must get these people out of here, you are all the future!” Obi-wan exclaimed looking down at Leia. “You are the future! You're what's needed to survive.”
Leia looked away from his piercing gaze, you could've sworn you saw her eyes watering with tears but before you could get a decent look at her she turned around and ran away.
“No!” she shouted and ran around the corner.
“Leia!” you went to go after her but Haja intercepted and placed his hands on your shoulders to stop you.
“She needs to be given space.” Haja suggested.
“You must promise us that you'll get her home, Haja.” Obi-wan begged. “As soon as we’re in the clear.”
Haja’s gaze flickered between yours and Obi-wan's faces, and it was the most serious you've ever seen the man in the short time you knew him.
“You have my word,” he promised. “Although, I know the words of a liar and a fake jedi may not mean much to you.”
“It means everything to us,” You placed a hand on his chest and you watched as Haja’s face softened at your words.
“Go get your things, I'll go talk to Leia.”

You were putting medical supplies in your bag when Roken walked in, holding something brown in his hands as he walked up to you and Obi-wan. There were no words spoken as he handed Obi-wan the object he was holding, once you could see the line of dashes you sniffled and gently ran your hands over the holster Tala had used in her final moments. The leather wasn't too damaged, just some scuff marks and scratches that could be repaired. You glanced up at Roken and mouthed a silent thank you, not wanting to break the moment of silence for the person you all lost. Roken pursed his lips in acknowledgment before he left the two of you alone.
Looking back down at the holster you sighed, you don't have a blaster anymore and quite frankly didn't like using one but you didn't want it to go to waste if you had brought it with you and ended up dying tonight if things went the worst way possible.
“Can you teach me how to shoot?” Leia's question to Tala coming back from the depths of your memory.
“I think we should go talk to Leia now.” you whispered looking up at Obi-wan
“I agree.”
It didn't take too long to find Leia, a perk for the smaller ship you were thankful for since there weren't many places for her to hide which led you to find her in a corner with Haja kneeling in front of her, whispering in her ear while Leia looked down at her lap. You grabbed Obi-wan's hand and placed Tala’s holester in it.
“I think you should give it to her.” Obi-wan looked slightly surprised but he clutched it tight in his hand, a silent gesture that showed you he was thankful for the opportunity. Haja heard you talking and said one more thing before he stood up and left the three of you alone.
“Thank you Haja.” you said gratefully as he walked out.
You and Obi-wan walked slowly to Leia, who stubbornly kept her gaze on the floor as she refused to even look at the both of you.
“You said you'd take me home.” she said, bitterly.
“I wish that we could, Leia.” Obi-wan said regretfully. “Really I do.”
Obi-wan thought for a moment before he spoke again.
“Please tell your father we tried.”
Obi-wan kneeled on the ground and held out Talas' holster, handing it to Leia. she ran her small hands over the material slowly.
“Roken found it before we got out, she would have wanted you to have it.”
“It's empty.” she observed and you held back the urge to laugh as Obi-wan rolled his eyes.
“Well, I wasn't gonna give you a blaster, Leia. you're ten years old.”
He sighed.
“But you won't always be.”
You kneeled down next to Obi-wan and put your hand on Leia's leg and squeezed it gently to grab her attention. When she finally looked up at you, and you ignored the slight sting behind your eyes as you stared at her. The reality of leaving her alone and this being possibly the last time you saw your niece crashing down at you at once. Your mouth opening and closing repeatedly trying to find the words to explain what you wanted to say to her but your mind came up short. You stopped trying to talk when she jumped down from where she was sitting and came to hug you, freezing for a moment before you melted into the touch and wrapping your arms around her small frame tightly, your cheek resting on the top of her head as you sighed.
You wanted to remember every feeling of this hug, just in case it was your last. After a few more moments you forced yourself to pull away from her strong grip, and kissed her forehead.
You watched bittersweetly as she jumped into Obi-wan's arms next, his arms wound tight around her just like you did moments ago and closed his eyes for a second. When she pulled away from him she looked at both of you with pleading eyes.
“Come back…Please.” she whispered.
You and Obi-wan hesitated, it was unfair of you to promise something like that when you were so unsure on how this was going to play out, you didn't want to give her false hope.
But you couldn't say no to her, no matter how hard you tried.
“I promise.” You and Obi-wan said together.
You prayed desperately you would be able to keep that promise.
🖾
You and Obi-wan split off from each other, going to one side of the medium sized hangar below the ship as Roken prepared the dropship. You wanted to meditate to clear your mind before you left while Obi-wan attempted to speak to Qui-jon.
Obi-wan was prepared to die if it came to it, giving his life to fix a wrong he had a part in to do what he could to fix a trail of death and destruction that has been carved in the large expanse of the galaxy over the last ten years. However, you were not prepared to lose Obi-wan or die at the hands of someone you knew long ago. No, not at all.
You were terrified.
You never questioned the Jedi when you were in the temple. the training, the robes, the almost dehumanizing set of rules in place that have been embroidered so deeply into you it could've been visible on your skin. You always believed you were the one that needed to change, the Jedi had this practice in place because they were good and if you messed up then you deserved punishment from the council themselves, and you as well as Obi-wan stood by as they broke Anakin down and manipulated him as they told him the same rhetoric they told you and Obi-wan and hundreds before you.
Flashes of memories came to mind as you stood in the hangar of the ship, chances to make a difference, to stand up for a kid who was claimed to be the chosen one but was never given any choices of his own. A basic human right stripped away in the name of protecting peace and bringing balance to the force.
Anakin, Obi-wan, as well as yourself lost a freedom you never got to experience due to the jedi order, and even when it crumbled to the ground like a pile of sand facing a gust of wind the reprecisions of the choices you've made and the jedi order played a direct hand into giving the galactic empire its power which led you hiding away for ten years as you were hunted down for something you didn't ask to be apart of. The fear of being found and the unhealed trauma you and Obi-wan experienced held you back from truly living for yourselves and for each other.
You wanted to live in peace with him. You wanted to love Obi-wan to the point he would feel suffocated in the best way possible, to kiss him, to hug him, to bicker, to give him a part of you no one else would receive and vice versa.
You wanted to heal.
And now that the chance to do any of those things were at stake and you were scared for what is going to come next, scared to face the result of many regrets.
“You okay?”
You turned around and saw Roken, his arms crossed as he leaned against the wall. Nodding as you pressed the heels of your hands into your eyes as if you could force the tears back into your tear ducts, clearing your throat you looked back at him.
“Yeah, I will be.” a lie filled with hope slipped out. “The dropship ready?”
Roken nodded.
“I'm about to let Obi-wan know, figured I'd grab you first.”
“Lead the way then.”
You followed Roken to the otherside of the hangar where Obi-wan was in silence, hoping once you saw him his presence would calm you down enough for you to be able to support Obi-wan in any way he needed.
He was sitting on a supply crate, holding his lightsaber in his hands as he inspected it with unease, Most likely trapped in his own thoughts just as you were moments ago.
“Are you ready?” Roken asked him as you walked over to him, your body gravitating to his side like an unknown force was pulling you. “The dropships ready.” Obi-wan stood up, clipping his lightsaber to his belt.
“You don't have to do this, you know.” Roken said, giving one more shot at convincing the two of you to stay. “We can still fix the drive!”
“I have to go.” Obi-wan said.
Roken shook his head and stared at him for a moment.
“It's not about us, is it?” he asked. “You want to do it, it's about you and him.”
A larger explosion shook the ship hard, making you grab Obi-wan's shoulder to balance, you looked at Roken with pleading eyes.
“Keep them safe.”
“Keep yourselves safe too.”
“Roken,” Obi-wan called out. “There are not many leaders left, but people follow you…don't stop.”
Roken smirked and shook his head.
“I'm just getting started.”
🖾
Obi-wan set a path to the nearest planet in the outer rim, not wanting to risk going back to Jabiim where the possibility of imperials were still there. Even now he expertly avoided the shots aimed at your ship, dogging and rolling with ease. You watched out the window as the large imperial ship stopped following Rokens transport.
“Entering the atmosphere.” Obi-wan said.
Your hands curled around the armrests of the co-pilot's chair as the ship rattled roughly as you approached the planet. The next minute of rough turbulence made you hold your breath before it smoothed out and you could make out the terrain of the planet below you. The sky held a dark bluish tint above you with murky gray clouds casted out making it darker than it already was, all around were pillars of rocks tall enough they reminded you of the tall buildings of Coruscant.
Obi-wan landed the ship in a small circle of clear land and powered down the ship, his fingers moving quickly across the control pad turning off the engine. You unbuckle your seatbelt and stand up and look over your shoulder at Obi-wan. He stood up and shrugged off his robe, a loud chirping noise came from his pocket as he pulled out the object and held it up to his face.
Lola beeped excitedly at him and you and Obi-wan looked up at each other and smiled, of course Leia would find a way to comfort you both even without her being present. Obi-wan handled the small droid with care and gently placed her on the dashboard, placed his robe on the pilot's chair, and took a calming breath and opened the door.
“Obi-wan.” you called out quickly, he turned to look at you with concern. “I love you.”
You watched his face soften and he reached his hand out and rested it on your cheek.
“I love you too, starlight.”
Nothing else had to be said, you will be happy if your final words to him were those.
A warm breeze hit your skin as the hatch door lowered, your eyes held a hard gaze at the tall rocks surrounding you as you focused your mind on the target of the soon to be fight and not your emotions. It didn’t matter if it was Anakin or Vader, only one side will make it off this planet tonight.
And you will fight until there is nothing left to ensure it was the two of you.
But you could still feel the anger, fear, and sorrow building inside of you. The control of your darkest emotions had lessened greatly since the fight on mapuzo and the fear of slipping even deeper scared you.
You weren't sure if you could stay in the light and fight Anakin at the same time.
Reaching for Obi-wan’s hand you gripped it tightly, the force of it making him look over at you in worry. He squeezed back with even more force than you did and for a moment everything else drained away.
Then you saw a ship enter the atmosphere and you were dragged back to reality.
Sucking in a deep breath you allowed Obi-wan to drop your hand as the two of you walked down the ramp and far away from the ship to prevent any potential damage. Your boots crunched loudly on the rocky terrain below you as a cold wind swept up your gray vest. You watched in silence as his ship grew closer and closer until it landed in front of you.
The hatch to Anakins ship opened and your hand went to the hilt of your lightsaber as a cacophony of modulated breathing filled the air as he descended down the ramp, a silhouette of black slowly coming toward you like a reaper.
Planting your feet firmly in the ground, you rolled your shoulders, hoping your false confident stance will turn into real confidence. Your eyes flickered to Obi-wan, his blue orbs looking like a stormy gray under the dark sky as you watched his jaw tighten under the weight of his teeth as Anakin began coming towards you. You gripped your lightsaber hard enough you felt the stinging bite of the groves in the metal go into the skin of your hand as the man in black stopped a mere couple feet in front of you.
“Have you come to destroy me Obi-wan?
The blue light from Obi-wan's saber then quickly illuminated the air around you a rich blue as Obi-wan raised his arm in position.
“I will do what I must.”
“Then you will die!” Anakin's modulated voice bellowed as the crimson red light from his lightsaber tainted the air around you, as he moved quickly to jam his blade into Obi-wan's jugular. You parried the blow and swung up from under and knocked your saber against his and rolled to avoid Obi-wan's strike the kickup of dust getting in your eyes as you stood and spun your saber in your hands before changing your grip to stab him in the back, the heat of your blade burned a hole into his cape before Anakin sidestepped away from you and grabbed the back of Obi-wan's neck, lighting him off the ground before throwing him at your feet.
Obi-wan recovered swiftly and rolled onto his feet and yanked you behind him and blocked the attack as he went for both of your heads.
You and Obi-wan knew how Anakin fought and he knew how the both of you fought which created a repetitive game of attacks that forced the three of your further into the rocky terrain of pillars and gravel below your boots leaving you unsteady as lightsaber created a rainfall of sparks as the grinding of mineral surrounding you as Obi-wan shoved Anakin back until Obi-wan raised his hand and used the force to try to throw a rock down on Anakin's head.
Anakin easily caught the rock's weight as the two fought for control before he forced pushed the rock over your heads making shatter on impact once it landed on the ground.
“Your strength has returned.” Anakin mocked before his helmet turned to you. “But the weakness remains!” he shouted before picking up a boulder and throwing it at you, you sliced through the rock and covered your head as the pieces landed behind you.
You watched as Anakin slammed his forearm into Obi-wan's nose and the loud crack that followed, the quick blight of pain allowed him to sweep rocks under Obi-wan making him land on his back. You ran for but went stiff as he used one hand to keep you back as Obi-wan scrambled to get footing Anakin slammed his other hand on the ground, quickly quaking and cracking before a sinkhole formed, swallowing Obi-wan.
“That is why you'll always lose!”
“No!” you screamed.
You watched in horror as boulder after boulder was thrown in after Obi-wan until the sound of his screams were buried under the rocks. Suddenly you felt your legs get pulled to the ground and your back hit the gravel beneath you as he began to drag you with the force. Shards of rock and dirt tore the fabric of your tunic and went into your back as you dug your nails into the solid earth below you to hold yourself back.
Once you were at Anakin's feet you felt the tip of his boot slam into your stomach, you gagged at the force of air leaving you as dark spots filled your vision. You didn't have time to think before you were dragged up a rock and shoved against it, your skull bouncing off the hard matter as you and Anakin's helmet were just a few mere inches apart.
“Did you truly think you two could defeat me?” the modulated voice hissed with detest.
You gasped and struggled in the tight grasp of his robotic hand, the warmth of blood ran down the back of your neck.
“You have failed.” he pointed out
Adrenaline was the only thing keeping you moving, the wheeze’s from your throat loud as the pressure around your throat grew.
“I have seen your potential, Y/n” He said. “Join me and you will no longer be a failure to people. You can be powerful and feared.”
You let out a weak laugh and shook your head.
“I would much rather be a failure trying to do the right thing than to be feared by doing something wrong.” you choked out.
Lifting your leg as high as you could, you planted your foot on the chest plate of the suit and pushed him back causing him to stumble and lose his grip on you, you fell to your feet.
It's been too long since you had to actually calculate and analyze someone in combat and it showed. You were reacting and not thinking through your next moves. If Master Stass had seen it you would have been ripped a new one.
“Focus Y/N, what is his weakness?” you asked yourself. Stumbling forward you truly looked at Vader for the first time, not as the man you once knew but who he was now.
And he was Large
That meant he was slow, his prosthetic limbs also didn't help with that either. All you had to do was be quicker and be relentless, give him no room to breathe let alone react.
Grabbing your lightsaber you began to sprint, pumping your legs as fast as they could go you jumped and landed on Vader's back. You slammed the hilt of your lightsaber over and over into his helmet. Forcing your anger and sorrow into every hit and not stopping when you heard a crack.
Vader's gloved hand reached up and yanked you over his shoulders by your wrist and threw you into the ground below. You activated your lightsaber and slashed at a boulder, and quickly used the force to slam it into his chest making him stumble back. Shooting your hand out, you force pulled him back to you and spun your saber and shoved the hilt into the underside of his jaw, Vader grunted in pain as you slammed your boot into his stomach.
You were enjoying it, your anger growing and fueling your muscles to slam hit after hit into him and you grinned when you were able to slash a cut across his armored chest. It was service level but the heat from it alone had to burn the already charred flesh underneath.
But Vader grew tired of your attacks and was able to grab ahold of the nape of your neck he pushed you face first into one of the large boulders and then hauled you backwards before he shoved you forward again. You face smacking the rocks until you hear a crack in your nose.
You let out a pained shout and when he went to smack you into the rock a third time the ground below began to rumble and shift beneath you.
The ground crumbled as an explosion of rocks exploded from the ground revealing Obi-wan climbing out of the hole he was buried in and going straight to Anakin. Taking advantage of Obi-wan reemergence you swung up and slammed your fist into his throat. Anakin choked for a moment before he refocused on Obi-wan, His lightsaber lighting up the determined look on his face as he slashed his weapon at his former best friend, you watched in amazement as Obi-wan maneuvered quickly around Anakin and parried every attack sent down on him. The clashes of light turned the air around them a bright purple luminating the fight better than the natural glum sky above them ever could.
Obi-wan forced pushed Anakin into a rock a few feet away and you flinched at the pained shout he let out as he fell to his knees. Obi-wan raised his arms above his head and rocks lifted in the air and began to plummet them at him. Anakin slowly worked himself up from the constant blows and threw himself at Obi-wan, tackling him to the ground.
You ignored the rubble that was embedded into the skin of your back and sprinted towards the two of them, the limp in your step slowing you down more than you wanted to admit as you made your way to Obi-wan who recovered quickly from his fall and was standing again. His gaze shifted to you for a moment, eyes wide in adrenaline and Anakin followed his gaze that soon landed on you. Flinching when he raised his hand to use the force you waited for the pressure around your throat, you were too tired and too injured to focus on putting up a mental block from him but the crushing pain never came.
Opening your eyes you saw Obi-wan interlinked their hands and was shoving the hilt of his lightsaber into the box that rested on Anakin's chest repeatedly. You heard Anakin's desperate wheezes as he tired to fight back but more and more sparks shot out as he rammed it harder and harder into his chest before force pushing him backwards and using a bolder to knock him down on his knees, Obi-wan panted before he sprinted and sliced his helmet. The metal burned orange near his head as Anakin kneeled to the ground, Obi-wan stumbled back away from him. Sweat and blood dried to his skin and beard.
Where Obi-wan saw the moment to stop you couldn't, you could end this nightmare right here and the bloodshed would be over.
You reached your hand toward Obi-wans and force pulled his lightsaber out of his hands and into yours, Obi-wan snapped his head towards you as you walked right up to Anakin's kneeling form, his head was tilted down so you couldn't see his face.
Your chest heaved as you held both lightsabers in front of his neck, the blades crossed over each other.
One move, and he would be dead.
“Y/n!” Obi-wan warned, but despite knowing you should listen to your husband you couldn't bring yourself to care.
“Was it worth it?” you seethed. “Losing everyone you loved, everything you were, for this?”
Anakin just wheezed.
The lack of response had you kick him, the force of him bringing him closer to the ground as his wheezing grew louder. You felt like you couldn't breathe, the pain was beginning to choke you and you blinked back tears and out of the corner of your eye you could see his lightsaber a couple feet away from him and you blinked.
He was unarmed.
Suddenly it was like your consciousness had gained the reins of your mind again and you realized what you were doing.
“There's still good in him.”
You've lost too much thanks to Anakin. Your freedom, your friends, your family, and your home.
You refused to lose yourself to him as well.
Deactivating the light sabers, you looked over at Obi-wan with tears in your eyes as he stepped forward and pulled you away from his former Padawan and took back his lightsaber from your shaking hands.
Then Anakin began to laugh, weak and almost breathless as he kept his head hung low.
Until he looked up at the both of you.
“Weak and pathetic.” he seethed. “Coward!”
You and Obi-wan watched in horror as half of his charred face came into the light, burned to the point his skin looked like leather leaving him almost unrecognizable.
Obi-wan lowered his lightsaber in shock at the state of his former brother.
“Anakin” Obi-wan called out softly.
You watched as Anakin stood up and you froze as bright yellow eyes burned into you like the fires on Mustafar.
You couldn't believe those eyes are the same one that held childlike wonder the first time he saw rain.
“Anakin is gone.” he said, his voice distorted from the modulator being damaged. “I am what remains.”
You watched Obi-wans teared up and let out a shaky sigh, his face crumbling in guilt.
“I'm sorry, Anakin.” Obi-wan cried. “For all of it.”
“I am not your failure Obi-wan.” Anakin said. “You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker.”
A twisted grin pulled at the burnt skin of Anakin's cheeks.
“I did. The same way I will destroy you and her.” he spat.
You ignored the tears that burned at your eyes, threatening to fall as Obi-wan shook his head.
“Then our friend is truly dead.”
You watched the man in front of you sway as he held his lightsaber, ready to fight again.
Obi-wan put away his lightsaber and you quickly follow suit, this fight was over. And the truth was the man in front of them both now was someone who deserved to die but despite everything you or Obi-wan couldn't bring yourself to do it.
You bit the inside of your cheek as you looked at the man who used to be Anakin Skywalker, the little boy you held at night, helped train, cooked for, and loved like he was your own blood.
That little boy was gone and what remained in front of you was a stranger you resented.
“Goodbye…Darth.” Obi-wan said before he turned and looked at you and without a single word he put your shoulder around him and supported your weight as you both walked away together.
Beaten, bloody, and exhausted.
Together.

"My first time in space wasn't peaceful. As always."
Masked things ran down the street, guns held in open threats. Daring anyone to come forward, standing shoulder to shoulder, a voice muttering in english. Translators missing the language as she tuts. A mask of three orbs of some sort, jewels arranged within splendid masks. A mass show of power and force, weapons sharpened and soldiers silent as they broke ranks. Marching behind their leader, black cloak draped over her shoulder.
The door thundered open, the room hardly small enough to echo, but each step boomed with power. Even those with anything that could see behind saw a straight frowning face, keeping solid as she lounged in a seat.
"Princess, explain to me why your troops shit down my soldiers."
She glared at the servant beside her, as the girl stammered.
"You are mistaken. Many-"
CLICK.
"Don't pretend with me. Stop acting, or I'll shoot the most powerful woman on the planet."
The room almost immediately tensed, before loosening. Killers, runners. The scum of the earth, as always the best scum had rose to the top.
"... I thought Terrans had no such technology to reach us."
"I thought my deal was clear."
She'd cut in, an insult. But doubtful-
"Third degree, fourth punishment. Right?"
"... You dare-"
A finger held her blade down, glaring up at the larger girl she smiled.
"We have a deal, I'm willing to give you three more chances. Back down, or I kill your brother."
The threat echoed across the room, finger retracted as she made it clear.
"I have no brother."
Snapping her fingers, a young man were shoved in. Hind legs barely showing, a bag over his head.
"Well?"
She'd caught her blade, the iron cutting through her hand but she'd not even flinched. A warrior's custom, an ancient one at that.
"You dare-"
"Go against me? The stars themselves shall burn before I am done with you."
"... Osda 4th millenium."
"so, that's it?"
She snapped her fingers, soldiers thrown into the room.
"Nice try."
She dryly said, grasping the woman by the neck, her arm badly moving as she moved the woman down.
"How-"
Now at eye level, legs straining against the force she spoke loudly into her ear.
"I'm going to say this once. You have three chances, if the next time this happens. I'm killing these men, the second I'll throw them in. Then I'll slit their throats. Once more from that, I'm removing you from power."
"You dare-"
She'd been thrown across the room.
"I don't care about your lineage, your customs. Your little empire. If it were up to me, I'd tear your mind to shreds and leave you to see what I see. Now, am I clear?"
"I am the leader of the Federation-"
"You've seen the files about what we can do right? Our history, experiments. All of it?"
"..."
"That's just human, what we are. We're Hybrid. Hundreds of branches of humans who evolved into new dangerous species, so mixed blood we should be dead. And I'm a corporal, in a system built off strength. Do you really want to see what I can do?"
"..."
"It's ok if you're afraid, if you don't trust me. The best and worst people are. And if anyone in this room thinks their leader is weak..."
A heavy weight, hundreds of souls growing out her cloak. Silently roaring, weeping. Reaching out of the clock.
"Who else wants to see my cloth?"
Her blood had ran hot, bumps appearing across her skin. Tail frozen as she glared at the council.
"Everyone's dismissed, another council in a week-"
"So how long until anyone notices me?"
Wearing a cloak, red eyes shimmering with blood. The girl looks around.
"Captain Vampy at your service, member of the Bitches subsect of the Wolves. Consider me keeper of peace and your emergency soldier. Order follows your systems hierarchy, and before you ask. Yes. I'm the Terran species of Vladat, and no. I don't have any of the weaknesses they had."

“Another drink, Nathaniel?” The woman was slurring every word, who Nathaniel was Ladybug had no clue, clearly drunk despite the lack of alcohol she had consumed. He wondered why he was even here, what had brought him to think finding a hookup on a dating site was actually a good idea? She had been kind, at first, keeping him company as he nursed the glass of coke in his hand, Veronica was her name.
It had been nice for a while, until she got bored. Or more like Ladybug had gotten bored. He supposed it was his own fault she started to chat with the bar staff, after all he had promised sex, and sex definitely didn’t look like the bottom of a coke glass filled with ice and a slice of lime. That’s what Ladybug had busied himself with for almost half an hour.
“I'm good, thank you though.” Ladybug waved her off. He wasn’t trying to be rude, simply couldn’t find it in himself to look at her anymore, he was disinterested.
“That’s not- Nathaniel you’re supposed to be buying me drinks, a lady never pays for her own drinks on a first date!” Again with the Nathaniel. The pitch in her voice got higher with every word, Ladybug’s already blooming headache seemingly on course for the worst sober hangover he’d ever experience. The lack of alcohol mixed with booming music, bright lights and the drunk lady beside him wasn’t tasteful. In fact it made him feel sick.
He only felt worse when he finally lifted his head, hands coming to pat at his jeans, the bartender taking the chance to snatch his empty glass. Veronica was pretty, Ladybug was almost sorry he hadn’t paid attention to her, he’s sure she would’ve been lovely sober. But when he finally went to make eye contact with her, he noticed something, someone, awfully familiar.
“Nathaniel?” Ladybug had been standing from his seat at the bar before he could render himself walking, Veronica’s voice calling out to him getting quieter as he pushed through the sea of people in his way.
He felt like his legs were going to give out, trying his best to keep on the curly, ginger tinged hair that had caught his eye. Ladybug was sure his heart was beating far too fast to be considered healthy and that the way he was breathing would definitely make him seem like he was at the start of a nervous breakdown. He kept walking, more like jogging, his shoulder barges getting harder the more people he passed.
And when he finally got close enough, Ladybug couldn’t stop himself, reaching out and bringing his hand down to a sweater covered shoulder. His grip hard, startling the man, making him jump slightly, the music drowning out his shout as he whipped his head around to the culprit.
“Jesus christ, don’t you know anythin about fuckin manners?” There it was, the ding in Ladybugs head. This is why you’re here. All it took was the wave off a thick british accent cursing blindly and Ladybug knew he wasn’t dreaming.
“Tangerine…”
He hadn’t heard that nickname in months. No one had called him that, not even his handler when calling for check ups, and his brother refused to buy tangerines for the apartment or anything in the orange fruit family for that matter. It filled him with fear, anger. Made the scar on his neck burn. His eyes sting with tears.
Though what surprised Tangerine the most was that it seemed to have the same effect on Ladybug.
He hadn’t changed much, blond hair a little longer, bags under his eyes a little darker. But he was still the same little Ladybug that shot him, the same man he hadn’t stopped thinking about since the day he was supposed to die. Tangerine wasn't mad, he wasn’t upset, not at Ladybug. Sure he was pissed that he was stupid enough to believe a child over him, but he had longed for Ladybugs eyes on his own ever since he closed them for what he thought was the last time, on the train.
Ladybug had sobbed, a horrendous noise wretched from deep in his throat when Tangerine had pulled him forward by his hands, backing them up into the toilets.
Tangerine's hand was on the back of his neck, pushing Ladybug into his shoulder, his other hand coming to grip at his waist. It took Ladybug a few moments to register who’s touch was on him, it had been so long since he’d had anyone this close. Once he had inhaled, realising Tangerine hadn’t pulled out a gun or knocked a punch to his gut, his own hands were gripping at everything they could.
He sent them flying backwards into the tiled wall out of sheer force in returning the hug, pressing his chest up to Tangerine’s, wrapping his arms around him and tugging him closer. Tangerine had begun to cry at some point, letting himself shed the tears he had kept in for so long.
“You’re an arsehole, ya know? leaving me to die.” Tangerine was laughing through his tears, choking on them as he spoke. Every word was being mumbled into Ladybugs hair, the vibrations reminding him that he wasn’t dead. “Can't believe you killed me!”
“Shut up, god please shut up-“ His voice was strained, Ladybug wanted to laugh, wanted to see the light in shooting Tangerine but he couldn’t. Not after watching him bleed out onto the floor of the train, hearing him splutter over his last words which had in fact been a warning to the actual Diesel on the train, seeing the man’s brother mourn his loss right in front of him.
“You’re alright, Bug. I’m fine.”

The Criminal Psychology Majors, Jason Todd x Fem!Reader Part 1/?
Word Count: 1.3k
Author’s Note: Y/N - Your Name, A/N - Any name (your best friend’s name.)
This is just something I’ve been cooking up in my head during my maladaptive daydreaming. Not really having a plan for this one. ALSO: First post ever on Tumblr! I hope you enjoy it!
I forgot to include the Part 1 when I first posted this lmao F
Warnings: Curse Words, no beta bitch we die like Jason Todd
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9) (Part 10) (Part 11) (Part 12) (Part 13) (Part 14) (Part 15) (Part 16) (Part 17) (Part 18) (Part 19) (Part 20)
As a criminal psychology major, Jason Todd was an intelligent young man waiting to inherit a lot of Wayne Enterprises’ company. Not because Bruce was dying, but because that was Bruce’s promise to him, Graduate, he said, and you can work alongside me, boss and boss. The idea excited Jason entirely. To finally be seen as a colleague to his father was something he always needed from him, but he was too scared to say “Hey dad, am I more than just a sidekick now?” and he knew it.
She, too, was a criminal psychology major. An equally intelligent young woman fighting her way to the top of her class, Jason’s class. And of course, dating isn’t out of the question. Especially when she sees her peers, specifically the one with the white streak in his hair. There was something about him that made her insides twirl in many different ways, butterflies soaring throughout her as if he was destined to meet her. Luckily for her, he sat beside her. Before she could speak to him though, the Professor boomed at the class:
“Good morning class! I am your professor, Thomas Hangre, and welcome to Criminal Psych 101!”
And then began the quick and messy note-taking. She noticed the man beside her didn’t take notes. But, it’s his grade, not mine, she thought.
Little did she know.
When the professor finished, she went to pack up her notes, when the man tapped on her shoulder and outstretched his hand:
“Hey, I don’t think we got a chance to meet before Prof Hangre started spewing at us,” he laughed, “The name’s Jason, you?”
“Oh! My name’s Y/N. It’s nice to meet you, strange man from my criminal psych class, Jason.” she retorted and shook his hand.
“Well well, I can assure you if I was a criminal, Batman would have cracked down on me already, darling.” he stated, almost matter-of-fact-ly.
“You say that like you know Batman.”
“You don’t know if I don’t.”
She laughed at him, there was something about the way he delivered words and sentences that drew her in. This is the start of something good, she thought.
He nudged her slightly in a playful tap, “You want to get something to eat later? We can get to know each other better, and maybe rewrite those very, very sloppy notes of yours, Y/N?” he asked, he seemed shy about it.
“I would love to, Jason.”
They exchanged numbers and packed up her stuff. She figured he still had classes, but she didn’t. So she went back home to her roommate, A/N.
----------------------------------------
“Girl, you do not know the hunk of a man I met today, when I say carved by the Greek Gods and deliver words like a Wayne, I mean it!” she giggled with A/N, they were her best friend.
“C’mon, tell me that guy asked you out, at least to a book club if he’s that hot.” she asked.
“He did! We’re meeting up later at the library to rewrite my notes and chat. Do you think this outfit is cute? I want to make him swoon.”
A/N laughed, “Oh yeah? Girl you’re killing it and you know it. C’mon, red mini skirt, get that man. And maybe see if he has a brother.”
She roared out laughing, “A brother? He is the brother, no man comes from a family where there’s multiple nice ones, you know the saying.”
“Well still, roomies stick out for each other.”
“I know, I know.” she laughed. “Oh and have you seen the latest Bat news, apparently he’s gotten injured.”
“Serves him right for being a bat!”
“Be nice! The man protects us and you know it.” Just then, she looked at the clock, she had 30 minutes to meet up with Jason, so she started panicking.
“I gotta go now, wish me luck.”
“Go, get him.”
-----------------------------------
She pulled up to the library with her bag of hastily written notes and car keys on her lanyard. She was nervous. This was someone who was really cute, and so far, he seemed really sweet to her too. She gulped, getting out of her car. The thing was beaten up to hell and back, so she hoped Jason didn’t see her in it. But he did.
“Hey Y/N.” Jason whispered and she jumped. He laughed.
“Nice beat up car, Y/N. Really living out the broke college kid lifestyle, gotta respect it.” he joked.
“Oh yeah, this is, uh, just aesthetics. I’m secretly very, very rich. Millions of dollars. All my money too.” they both laughed and he lead her inside the library and they both sat down at a desk with two chairs and a computer. This was more luxury than she even had back with A/N.
Jason grinned and took one of her notebooks and started trying to transcribe what she wrote onto a word document. She laughed, because even though she knew her handwriting was barely legible, he seemed to be managing, and she admired his efforts.
“You know, Jason, I can always transcribe it myself,” she said.
“No, no, it’s okay. If I write it then I can print it for both of us, so you don’t have to pay the printing fee.”
“There’s a printing fee?”
“Yeah, one of my brothers used to go here, my dad says if we all go here he’ll pay the fees since it’s worth it for this college.” he said.
“You have brothers?” she asked, shocked he opened up this quickly.
“Oh yeah I do. 4 to be exact. 3 sisters too. What about you?”
“A twin sister. She’s quite lovely, goes to a different college like a nerd though.” she joked.
He let out a booming laugh, “I think we’re the nerds, Ms. Criminal Psych Major.”
“You have got me there, Jason, you got me there.”
“I know I do, Y/N. So, what high school did you come from, or are you an out-of-city kid?”
“Not from this city, I’m actually from Metropolis. It’s huge and annoying there. Too many people. This is such a smaller city compared to Metropolis. I’m guessing you were a Gotham Academy kid?” she asked.
“Yeah, repping the Gotham Academy to death and back, I met a lot of good people there and I would have to agree, my uncle lives in Metropolis, it’s massive.” he said.
“Your uncle is probably a people-person then, I’m sure as hell not.” she retorted.
“Neither am I, but there was something about you that seemed inviting if I’m honest. I don’t regret asking you this, what is this? A date?” he asked.
“If you want to call it a date, we can call it a date, Jason.” you assured him.
“It’s been a date then.”
“Well I’m glad you thought I was inviting and worth your time, Jason. Really, this is lovely.” you once again assured him.
“Did I tell you that you look nice? Red’s a lovely colour. It’s even my favourite colour. It’s like you can read my mind and dress for the occasion.”
“Man, if I could read your mind, I’m sure it would be a joyride. Maybe I’ll know why you went into Criminal Psych over everything else.”
“That’s a story for another time, Y/N.” he said as he somehow finished typing out the last page of the notes, “I guess this will conclude our date, shame really.”
“Well, that just means there’s room for a second date, Jason.”
“I’ll make sure to tell my brothers about you, then.”
“Is the second date worthy of the Mighty-Jason’s brothers knowing about me?” you are inclined for the answer.
“Well, the first was the minor mention of your name, the second is saying ‘We had fun, I have hopes.’ You know?” he said.
“I know.”
And he printed the document.

pas de deux XIV [Risotto Nero x Reader|Bruno Bucciarati x Reader]
[SFW]
AO3 VERSION
PREVIOUS CHAPTER | NEXT CHAPTER
You’ve worked your whole life to earn a place in the Rome ballet company, yet everyone seems to work against you.
Between the stress of working to match the other dancers to unforeseen romantic issues, problems just seem to pile up.
Lights shine brightly above you, bouncing off the heavy velvet curtains to each side. Looking down, you’re dressed beautifully, in a white fabric that glitters with little gems. In your hair you can feel a tiara and the hug of a corset lingers when you breathe too deeply. Looking down once more to see your dress again, there are a pair of hands at your waist.
You’re dancing. As you lean back into the dip, you take comfort knowing your partner is Bruno. You’ve practiced together for a long time; you know each other's internal rhythm better than anyone else’s.
His hands release you as you spin out. There is no music, but you can hear a faint… something. It’s muffled and barely there and it’s repeating. But, you still dance.
You look over to your partner, who is not Bruno, who is someone entirely else. He’s much taller, shrouded in shadow as he steps toward you. You cannot make out his face but at his height, you fear you don’t want to.
His steps boom through the auditorium, shaking the stage lights. He’s going to get you. You try to run but you can’t stop dancing. The man gets closer.
The stage light above you threatens to fall and that repeating noise has gotten louder. You spin away from the man, as directed in your routine. You fear the moment the pas de deux continues in his arms.
He stands in the middle of the stage, suddenly larger than before. His face follows you, watching you, as you gladly step in and out, spinning and leaping around him.
The choreography slowly brings you in, closer and closer.
Until his hands are on your waist again, engulfing you. You tremble as you dare get a look at the monster invading your recital, and with wide, fear-filled eyes, you look up to see…
Risotto?
The sound wakes you. It was your alarm.
You sit straight up, shaking off the nightmare. Stretching the sleep out, turning off your alarm and stretching further on the floor take the first fifteen minutes of your morning.
As you lay stretched out over your leg, your ruminating thoughts begin to wander. To your nightmare, why you dreamt of both Bruno and Risotto, why Risotto was so scary (though you’re sure you knew the reason for that).
When you catch yourself thinking too much, stretching ends.
To the kitchen, then. You stand, thoughtless for a moment at the fridge, trying to reset your brain. Coffee drips incredulously, mocking you for your inability to devote thought to anything but <i>boys</i>. Were you not a modern woman? Were you truly some 19th century harlot, who needed her one lover for money and another for love?
You finished your breakfast as a side thought, instead focusing on hushing your active mind. The sun rises slowly, as you watch out your window. The low hum of the coffee machine stops when the pot is full, prompting you to finally move from the chair facing the window. You jump at the chance to do anything other than stare at the sky.
Coffee wakes you up, which in turn gives you a moment to think about anything other than your dance instructor. You grab your things and find your way to the street below your apartment.
You shut the front door of your building. The chilled morning air bit your nose, but the warm summer sun was just beginning to break it. Birds chirped, singing songs you were too tired to hear.
The walk to the conservatory feels longer than it usually does. You pass opening shops and children walking with nannies, giving feeble waves ‘good morning’ when they acknowledge you. As you turn the corner, though, you’re stopped.
Bruno waits before you. “Ah,” he starts, “good morning.” His gentle smile pulls at his lips. “Did you see my call?” He stands tall in the morning sun, looking sunkissed and prepared for his day. His duffle bag hangs languidly at his side, his hair pulled back carefully. It almost mocks you, how ready he looks. You hardly feel able to take on your own day.
You shake your head, partly trying to prepare yourself for conversation. “No,” you admit, bracing for a disappointed reaction. “I had a rough morning.”
“Walk with me,” he nearly cuts you off. “What happened? Was it something with Instructor Nero?”
You instinctively clutch your bag, feeling the new slippers sitting peacefully inside. A breath you hadn't realized you were holding releases. “No, no, it’s not like that.” You snap at him, just a bit.
His brows furrow, “I was simply asking.” His voice is sympathetic, but you hear the thorns of something else, something petty, underneath. “You know how I feel about him.” There it is.
An exasperated sigh escapes you. “I do,” you reason, “Just as you know how <i>I feel about him.</i>”
Bruno utters your name, with thoughtful intent. “I don’t mean to fight with you.” His eyes soften, face falling into a worried visage like a complicated puzzle falling into place. “I <i>wanted to see</i> you, see if we could practice for auditions together.” A smile replaces the worried grimaces he uses against you. “Extend an olive branch.”
Relief fills your chest. You don’t know how many more fights, arguments, leering glances, you can take. The stress front he morning melts away as butter would in the day’s sun. It’s getting hot.
“Olive branch accepted,” you smile. Checking your phone extends your glee further. “We have more than enough time to practice now, if you’d like.” Bruno’s peace treaty warms you up inside; you missed his amicable temper, his dinners on days off, his calls on holidays, and most of all, him. You wouldn’t dare ask why he was so temperamental, as to not spoil the moment, so it rests in the back of your mind as an afterthought.
In the rehearsal room, the two of you are pleased to see the emptiness. The emblematic windows, casting their morning light from the summer sun, make the room tepid. You’re quick to change your shoes.
The dance isn’t easy. But, dancing with Bruno comes more naturally to you than air at times. You felt lucky to have <i>your</i> partner back.
Taking the role of the Sylphide, which is so easy to you now it astounds you, you float across the floor. Bruno slips into his prospective role, James, following you in pirouettes and kneels.
You watch your pair in the mirror, making notes along the dance. Bruno is nigh perfect, while your character falls flat. A reminder is made to ask Risotto about it later.
The dance continues, his hands grace yours with gentle touch. And, you turn around each other, landing in front of him as his hands grasp your waist. Suddenly, your nightmare is brought back to the forefront of your mind. Risotto, the ever affrighted partner in your dance in purgatory. Your wish to return to dancing with Bruno. You struggle to find the meaning, the connection to your waking life.
“Focus,” Bruno whispers to you in the lift. He sets you down and you’re back to the present.
Your brows furrow, “sorry,” the gentle whisper tumbles from your lips.
Another moment before you’re both kneeling, Bruno ahead of you. Your thoughts race again and you almost miss your cue, which you swear he catches in the mirror. But, before he can whisper to you again, you rise. Stepping around his kneeling form with your arms curved upward. You lower off pointe, one hand falling to his shoulder as your back leg lifts into an arabesque.
The short section of the pas de deux comes to end soon after, modified so you finish in an extraordinary lift.
You both sit together soon after. Smiling, huffing and puffing, Bruno’s warm hand finds itself on your knee.
“You did well, but where’s your mind at today?” His face contorts in worry. You laugh it off.
“I told you, rough morning.”
“It must’ve been bad if you’re missing cues.”
“I’m just nervous. About auditions.”
The answer seems to satisfy him. “How was I?” The topic changes quickly, which relieves you.
You smile brightly. “You were amazing.” Your tone is delighted, almost embarrassingly so. “James is practically your part.”
Bruno’s smile in return wills your cheeks to heat up.
A comfortable silence falls over the two of you, short of a moment. Words gurgle to the surface of your mind and you’re compelled to speak before you can stop yourself. “I missed dancing with you a lot.”
His smile falters, turning into something full of remorse. “I apologize,” your name feels so natural in his voice. “It’s my fault. I was, well,” He laughs briefly. “I was rather jealous of you and the instructor.”
You laugh, not maliciously, but rather in disbelief. “Bruno, I love you in a way that cannot be described.” You return the gesture, placing your own hand on his leg. “Nothing could ruin our friendship.”
His face swims in some strange emotion you can’t pick up on. The thought flees your mind when the conversation continues.

An Old Scent [2] - Negan x Reader (A/B/O AU)
Summary: During summer break, you decide to come back home to visit your dad, Rick. Over the course of your stay, you realize that your dad's friend is pretty hot.
Warnings: Eventual smut, A/B/O dynamics, cheating, angst, age gap, Negan, a bit of gore if you squint
A/N: ok so everything is written i'm just gonna stagger posting a little bit :') 2.7k words
The first thing I woke up to in the morning was a dull ache in my lower abdomen. Great. My heat was starting up again. Growing up, Bee always asked why I never went on suppressants. I always got a bad vibe from them. Then, a few years ago, a large brand got recalled because it was shown to cause cancer in a lot of different patients. Now suppressants were harder to come by, more regulated, and needed a doctor's prescription. A lot of omegas took the hit hard, but out of it came an influx of at-home ways to take care of your heats by yourself. Super helpful for a single girl like me. When my heats started to get really bad around my junior year of high school, Bee took me out on a shopping spree and got me a bunch of toys to try and satisfy myself. It worked for a while, but they got worse as the years passed. By my age, a lot of omegas were already claimed and had an alpha to help them through their heats. I was still relying on the toys Bee had bought me. The box was tucked neatly under my bed, waiting for me. I rolled over with a small groan and sighed. The heat wouldn't be in full swing for another few days or so, so I could still go to the courthouse with my dad. Speaking of, I heard Rick shuffling down the hall and slid out of bed, gathering my bathroom stuff and walking out of my room into the small tiled room to start the day.
~~~
"So you weren't at the garage on the night of the eight?" Negan hummed, leaning against the railing in front of the tv. His eyes were glued to the face of the man sitting on the stand. The poor guy was drenched in a nervous sweat, tight blue shirt sucking at his chubby neck. He swallowed thickly and leaned forward to the microphone.
"That's correct," he croaked.
"Oh, Jeremy," Negan chuckled, shaking his head and looking at his feet. "Don't you know perjury is a criminal offense?"
"I-I'm not lying!"
"Is that so?" The alpha held up the remote to the TV "I have some footage here that directly contradicts your story, man. One last chance." He wiggled the remote teasingly and raised his eyebrows. Jeremy held his ground. "Alrighty then, let's see what we have here." He took a step back and furrowed his brow at the remote and pressed a button. The screen in front of him came to life. I had to lean forward in order to see the video, but in reality it wasn't the security tape I was watching. It was him. I couldn't look away. He had dominated the room for the past hour and a half. His deep voice was never raised, but it still carried a commanding tone that had every person sitting on the stand shaking in their boots. My eyes trailed down his body. His suit clung to him in every perfect way. His hair was slicked back in its iconic style and the way his glasses perched on his face made my insides burn. Part of me regretted seeing him like this so close to my heat, but another part couldn't imagine if I hadn't. Rick leaned over and tapped my elbow.
"We've got him now for sure." He whispered in my ear. A smile formed on my lips as I nodded to him. There was a child-like joy on his face. He really did appreciate my presence. I turned my attention back to the video screen. The footage was fuzzy, but there was a clear figure of a woman standing still hunched over what I presumed was her phone. She was texting away, fingers flying over her screen. Suddenly a large figure, who had the same height and build as Jeremy, slunk out from the shadows. He slowly approached the woman from behind and raised a crowbar high above his head. He swung it down with brutal force. There were small gasps of horror from the jury and the crowd as the crowbar connected solidly with the woman's head. She collapsed in a heap, but Jeremy didn't stop beating her until she was a pile of mush. Negan clicked the TV off.
"Well, shit, Jeremy," He boomed "I do in fact think you are lyin' to me." He tossed the remote down on his table top and gave a grim scoff. "Everyone just saw you turn poor Miss Parker's head into your personal punching bag. You still wanna claim you were no where near there?" All of the color had drained from Jeremy's round face. He swallowed again, tugging at his restricting collar. But soon, his face turned a deep shade of pink and he slammed his beefy palms on the flat surface of the box he was sitting in.
"That bitch deserved it!" He howled, gasping for air. "She had no business-" He stopped when Negan raised his hand silently.
"I really don't care," He sighed, turning around and grinning broadly when he saw the defense team resting their heads in their hands in defeat. "I'll let the jury do the rest, your honor."
"Yes, thank you, Mr. Smith." The judge said, voice prickling with annoyance. Negan returned to his bench and pulled out his seat. But before he sat down he gave Rick a small thumbs up. And I could have sworn that he flashed me a little smile as well.
~~~
"You were incredible in there!" I cheered, giving Negan a high five. The contact made my skin tingle, but I passed it off as the consequences of the impact. "You really made that guy tremble like a kid!"
"It's what I do," Negan chuckled deeply. He looked around me and furrowed his brow. "Where's your dad?"
"He's pulling the car around," I said "I just figured I should let you know how good you did before I leave." He was so close. He smelled so good. The same combination of whiskey and campfire that could get me drunk in a few breaths. I was so focused on his intoxicating musk that I didn't notice the group of alphas that were headed our way. Negan did, though. I heard a rumbling from his chest and felt a hand clasp around my shoulder. Confusion clouded my mind and I looked up to him for some answers.
"The next case is starting soon," He said smoothly "Let's go wait for your dad outside." I agreed and he steered me out onto the steps of the courthouse. The short skirt and heels I was wearing weren't exactly comfortable for walking down stairs, so I held onto Negan's forearm as he guided me down to street level. There was a small breeze and I saw his jaw tense as a soft gust of wind swirled up from behind me and into his body. It no doubt carried my scent on it, and an alpha like Negan could probably tell what state I was in.
"So," I sighed, looking to engage him further "What's next?"
"Well," He tilted his head and ran a hand over his bear-covered chin. "Jeremy goes to jail. Your dad and the department get praise. And I get to go to the bar for a celebratory drink." He paused for a moment, looking me up and down quickly. "You want to join me?" I opened my mouth to say something. To be honest, I wasn't sure what I was going to say. I didn't really drink, but I was willing to do absolutely anything that Negan wanted. But it was then that Rick rounded the corner and gave the horn a little honk.
"I would love to," I settled on "But dad has a full day of father-daughter fun times planned, and I don't really want to keep him waiting." I gestured awkwardly to where Rick was sitting in the car, bopping his head gently to incoherent music.
"Totally understand, doll." He grinned.
"Maybe another time, though?"
"For sure."
"See you around, Negan."
"Bye, doll, have fun. And be safe"
~~~
Negan was pleasantly buzzed, as per usual. He got off his motorcycle and hung his helmet on the handlebar before lightly stumbling into the house from the dark garage. The sight he saw he did not expect. There sat his fiancé in the living room, arms crossed over her chest with a pissed expression on her face. And beside her was a woman he knew all too well.
"The hell is goin' on here?" He asked, slurring his words slightly.
"I could ask you the same thing, Negan."
"Lucille, what the fuck is she doing in our house?"
"Oh, so you know her?" Lucille growled. Negan just licked his lips and flicked his gaze between the two women sitting in front of him. "Of course you do. You have been fucking her after all." Negan groaned, rubbing his eyes.
"Baby, please-" He started, but Lucille cut him off.
"Don't you dare," She hissed, jumping to her feet and balling her hands into fists "You don't get to call me that after what you've done, Negan. You slept with another woman. Hell, maybe more than one. You ruined our relationship." Negan took a step forward but Lucille raised her hand and pointed to the kitchen table. "Don't take another step. Your stuff is in that box." Negan looked to see a cardboard box sitting alone in the dark kitchen, his belongings poking out of the top. "I never want to see you in my house again."
"Lucille, can't we just talk about this? You don't understand." He pleased, extending a hand to her. She batted it away.
"There's nothing to talk about." She spat "You cheated on me, Negan! What is there to understand? How can you expect me to forgive you for that?" A moment of silence passed between them. The other woman shifted uncomfortably on the couch. Negan glared at her before turning his eyes back to his now ex-fiancé.
"I have no where to stay." He whispered.
"That's not my problem." Lucille said boldly "Take your shit and leave. Don't come back. We're done."
~~~
I stirred the pot of spaghetti while humming a song I heard on a radio earlier. The father-daughter activities had consisted of driving around town and revisiting old spots we used to go to when I was younger. We got ice cream at the shop down the street and then watched the sun set at the park that we used to picnic at. It was nice. College did really fix our relationship. The TV in the next room hummed quietly and Rick was talking on the phone with someone. I heard him hang up and walk into the kitchen.
"Think there's enough in there for three?" He asks with a sigh, looking over my shoulder.
"Should be, why?" I return, meeting his gaze. He takes a deep breath and scratches his neck.
"Um, well, Negan's fiancé kicked him out of the house. Apparently she found out he was cheating on her. He doesn't have anywhere to stay." He mumbled "He's gonna be sleeping here for a bit." I stopped stirring. The water started to bubble too close to the top, but I blew a gust of air to push it down.
"Why here?" was all I could muster.
"He really helped me with your mom. It's the least I can do."
I just hummed in acknowledgement and returned to my cooking. So Negan was engaged. And he CHEATED on his fiancé? Maybe I didn't know Negan as well as I thought I did...
~~~
"I just can't believe she kicked me out!" Negan seethed, shoveling a spoonful of spaghetti into his mouth. He was still chewing when he continued. "She didn't even give me a chance to explain myself!"
"I hate to say it, but you did cheat on her, buddy," Rick said carefully, not wanting to poke the angry alpha in the wrong way "She's upset."
"I was in a rut." Negan growled.
"For four months?"
I was making a plate for myself, listening to the conversation from across the room. Rick's phone buzzed on the kitchen table and he picked it up.
"Sorry, I have to take this." He sighed, shaking his head and standing to his feet. He left the room and suddenly it was just me and Negan. I took my plate to the opposite head of the table, watching Negan wolf down his dinner.
"This shit is really good, sweetheart," He groaned. Normally, the noise would have sent me over the moon. But there were so many other emotions clouding my mind. "You ever consider changing your major to culinary arts?" I didn't say anything, just twirled my fork in my serving of pasta.
"Why'd you do it?" I said quietly, almost in a whisper. Negan paused instantly.
"What?"
"Why'd you cheat on her?" My eyes never left my plate but I could hear him shifting in his seat, rubbing his face while trying to answer my question.
"I don't know," He said. His voice was soft, sincere. Something I had never heard from him before. My eyes drifted up and met his. They were the same tawny color, but there was something else behind them. Something I couldn't distinguish. "I thought...Something was off in our relationship. I guess I thought that I could fix it by trying something different. I ran into Tanya at a bar a few months ago. She's a beta, just like Lucille. Wanted to be with an alpha. I gave in. Just for a quick fuck, didn't mean anything. I didn't like her. I told her that but...she...she wanted more, I guess. She fucking threatened me. Threatened to ruin my life unless I kept seeing her. I chose to do it. I don't know if that decision was the right one or not but it's the one I made. I texted her last night to tell her it was over. Never fucking thought she would come to my home." I was chewing the inside of my cheek the whole time he was speaking. I didn't know how much of his story was true, but he sounded like he was hurting.
"Why did you break it off?" I whispered.
"That's your damn question?" He scoffed, giving a short smile. He looked in my eyes. I knew the answer. Or at least I thought I did. He opened his mouth, but Rick reentered the room before he could say anything.
"Alright, sorry about that guys," He said, slipping back into his seat. "What did I miss?"
~~~
Negan was set up in the bedroom next door to mine. Our doors faced each other from across the hall. We would have to share a bathroom. Rick didn't seem to have a problem with it, but with my heat starting I wasn't too sure about the whole arrangement. I felt more cramps riddle my body. I was ready to bed, ready to curl up in a ball and go to sleep, but something called me across the hall. Curiosity got me and I turned slightly, walking up and leaning on the doorframe. There was Negan, clad in grey sweatpants and a black tank top, unpacking his things.
"Hey," I said quietly, not wanting to startle him. He turned around. He looked older like this, hair unkempt and his glasses on. When he saw me his lips curled in a smile. Any trace of vulnerability I had seen earlier was now gone.
"Hey to you."
"I just want to apologize for earlier," I said "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I'm also sorry that you have to be subjected to me and my dad for the foreseeable future." He let out a snicker and shook his head.
"Don't worry about it, doll. And you're not that bad. I appreciate Rick; he's a good man." He scratched his beard and looked over at the clock next to the bed. "It's late, you should get some rest." He took a deep breath and I nodded. I turned to leave but he called my name softly. "You know I meant what I said last night, you are looking good." I smiled but didn't say anything and crossed the hall, shutting my door and hopping into bed.

Recap: Pleasantview Round 5 (Summer)
The romance of Spring certainly went to a few heads in Pleasantview - the suburb is in the midst of quite the baby boom. But now Summer is here, and school is out! Parents are scrambling to sort out childcare, teenagers are reveling in their freedom, and with the sun shining, the mood in the neighbourhood is pretty great.
But are the families as happy as they seem? Or are some on the brink of collapse? What secrets lurk in their hearts?
The round began with newcomers Tiffany Sampson and Kevin Beare getting settled in. They adopted a puppy, got new jobs, and got to know the neighbours.
Then as Tiffany finished her first day of work in the Education career, she learned she was already pregnant!
They had a quick, slightly rushed wedding before the baby arrived.
Baby Harvey was born, but it already looks like she might be expecting again.
The round ended on a happy note, with the couple already nicely established as a family in town with a few friends!
The Dreamer family started out just as well, but things quickly started to deteriorate.
Due to a combination of bad mental health, recurring nightmares and possible haunting, Brandi Broke isn’t in a good place. Her relationship with Darren suffers for it, too.
Meanwhile Cassandra’s marriage with Don is falling apart, and Darren can’t help being sympathetic. Perhaps a little too much so.
Mia Broke, obsessed with the paranormal, gets herself abducted by aliens, much to her mom’s dismay.
She’s also eager to discuss her theories about the spooky sounds in their yard, but Brandi shuts it down.
Mia goes on a date with Benedick Monty, but it’s kind of a mixed bag.
Back home, Mia and Darren eventually talk about the possible hauntings at home. He admits to her seeing Darleen’s ghost, from time to time.
Brandi also opens up to Mia about her father, Skip.
And Mia is vindicated to finally some ghosts herself!
I played the Lotharios next since I was interested in what was going on with Cassandra.
Cassandra and Don’s relationship has had its ups and downs - neither of them has been 100% faithful, but they’re dealing with it. Maybe? Between raising the twins and focusing on their careers there hasn’t been a ton of time for marriage counselling.
Don’s been feeling a bit isolated, recently. Outside of his family and his coworkers, he doesn’t really have a lot of friends. That’s been deliberate, to an extent. The fewer people around him, the fewer temptations to stray outside of the marriage.
For the most part, it’s been working. But a chance meeting with Nina Caliente has him feeling… confused.
The kids are doing fine, the parents not so much.
She’s always in low aspiration, lately, ever since her Dad passed away. It’s been hard getting on her feet since then, and Don going on about needing “me time” doesn’t help. She needs his support right now more than ever! Why doesn’t he get that?
They don’t talk about it, but both of them are feeling very alone, and starting to lose faith in each other...
Meanwhile, the boys age up. Bernado’s a popularity sim and Cassimiro’s knowledge.
Eventually, things in the marriage finally explode and Cassandra tells Don about Darren, trying to get a rise out of him.
Don immediately retaliates by woohooing with Sharon Wirth on a grocery-run.
After a cool-off day, they agree to break things off, and Don moves out.
He moves in, temporarily, with Bella. Who is insistant that he and Cassie try and patch things up!
He’s more interested in exploring new options, though.
Bella is devestated to lose her job as a party guest.
Meanwhile Oliver Goth (Dina and Mortimer’s son) gets his first kiss with Ariel Capp! Later he goes on a date with Tommy Ottomas, too.
At one of Bella’s parties, Cassandra and Don keep things civil, but Cassandra evidently isn’t doing well.
Bella goes on a date with Gilbert Jacquet. It’s not really all that serious between them, and Bella still misses Mortimer dreadfully, but Gilbert is charming and handsome enough to take her mind of her worries.
Things with Bella and Don also seem to be getting a little heavy, and Don concludes he needs to move out before things cross a line. Bella reluctantly agrees, it’s obvious her plan to get him and Cassie back together hasn’t worked
Don moves to Strangetown!
Next up are the Ramaswami family, a nice breath of fresh air after all the drama.
Priya befriends some of the other mothers in town, becoming especially close to Kaylynn.
And baby Ravi gows into maybe the coolest toddler ever?
Sanjay survives a near death experience.
And Priya finds out she’s expecting again!
Divorced once and with the girls having just graduated college, Daniel Pleasant didn’t expect to be engaged again with a kid on the way as he approached retirement age, doing it all over again. He’s far from unhappy about it, though. Mary Sue always had an independent streak, but Kaylynn adores him. Maybe it’s a bit selfish, but it feels so good to be needed.
Kaylynn knows some people in the neighbourhood look down on her, think her naive, call her a homewrecker… that’s fine. If they worked as a cleaner for years and years maybe they’d consider packing it in and settling into an easy life, too. What’s wrong with wanting to be taken care of?
Notably (and much to my horror) during the Pleasant round, Brandi and John start up their affair again.
Kaylynn finally gives birth, to a baby boy they call Jeffery Pleasant, after Daniel’s father. Daniel’s really pleased!
Jennifer’s eager to meet her new nephew. She and Kaylynn get off to a rocky start, but eventually start to bond.
She’s closest friends with Brandi Broke, though. The two have become inseperable, with Brandi visiting all the time.
Daniel invites both of the girls over to meet their little brother, but Angela is the only twin who shows. Whether that’s because they have a better relationship, or because Lilith was just busy is anyone’s guess.
Then it turns out Kaylynn’s pregnant again already?
Kaylynn and Daniel tie the knot!
Nina and Don also reconcile at the wedding.
Kaylynn gives birth to another baby boy, Luke!
And Jeff ages upp!
Daniel ages up, too. It’s finally time for him to retire, soon...
Daniel’s definitely a bit of a dirty old man, but Kaylynn doesn’t seem entirely oblivious to that side of him, and figures as long as she keeps his needs met they should be fine. We’ll see if that holds up.
Then it was time to catch up with the Shoreharts, who moved here form Widespot for a fresh start.
A retired chef, Sandy’s enjoying her retirement a lot more than she ever enjoyed being a stay at home mom. Granted, all this free time has her a little restless, but it’s nothing a bit of time outdoors and excercise can’t fix. She hopes.
They were honestly pretty chill! Rhett’s taken to the whole marriage thing suprisingly well, for a romance sim. Turns out, as long as he’s getting lovin’ on a regular basis he doesn’t really care if it’s with one woman or several. It’s never boring with Sandy, and he intends to keep her as happy as he can for the rest of her days. That’ll show her shit-heel of an ex-husband.
Mostly they just spend a lot of time with family.
Sandy’s very generious with the backrubs, but nothing goes too far.
Mimi is definitely at least a little anxious about her parents’ marriage though, because she spends some of the round reading up on Couple’s Councelling.
Then it’s time for her to age up! She grows into a rather cute romance sim.
Then at the party the house of cards starts to crumble, as Sandy gives her ex-husband Hamilton a kiss, right in front of Mimi and Rocky.
Mimi agrees not to tell her Dad, but isn’t happy. She spends a lot of time out of the house.
With Sandy keeping her indescretion quiet, I’m not sure what they have in store in the future!
Regardless, next are the Ramirez family.
Tessa’s spent a lot of time looking afte rthe baby and she’s sick of it! So she spends some time Downtown with friends.
She later takes Bernardo on a date, although he’s not sure if he likes her as more than a friend. Bernardo likes the idea of falling in love with Tessa, who he’s always admired! But he’s a little hesitant at the same time, especially with his parents’ divorce still being so recent.
Checo has a bit of a wandering eye, but mostly he keeps himself in check.
Checo might be a bit of a flirt, but at least he’s not a hypocrite. When Lisa was dancing with Skye he didn’t even bat an eye. Or maybe he just doesn’t see an old man as much of a threat…
Ugh, God, I forgot this happened
Baby Sofia grew up super cute!
Anyway, that’s all from them!
The Oldies weren’t too eventful, mostly just focused on hobbies!
They did finally meet Mary’Sue’s new partner, which went... poorly.
But they did have a nice meeting with their grandaughter later, and a fun night out!
Then it was the Burbs! John’s recent indescretions with Brandi aside, things seemed to be going well.
At least, until he made out with Coral Oldie :/
Oblivious to thins, Jennifer was starting to trust John again.
They had dinner with Jen’s brother Dan and his new wife...
And Jennifer discovered she was pregnant again!
Lucy headed away for college...
And baby James grew up, leaving the Burb round complete and Pleasantview all done & dusted!

Holding on to others' potential is holding you back and limiting YOUR opportunities, blessings, and abundance.
Firstly I wanna say I struggled with this a lot, especially with people I loved. The people who I adored and couldn’t see myself living without so don’t feel bad for yourself because it’s a common thing. But I want the best for you so here are the three main steps to stop doing this.
But first I want to explain what I mean by “holding on to other's potential” and why this is damaging. when I state that phrase. I want you to think of someone in your life, no contact or contact. This person has had chance after chance and could have broken you down multiple times maybe even abused you mentally and/or physically but you love this person you see the potential in them. the potential for them to randomly change, stop the abused, and love you the way you love them. This is unrealistic but I see so many young girls and women going through this. Let’s look at another scenario say you were talking to this person getting to know them and BOOM they ghost you. one day you see them out and about but there is one issue they are out with another person, kissing them and hugging them. you go home sad and instead of collecting yourself together to heal and better yourself from this situation you blow up their phone, think about them 50 times a day and hold on to the potential for them to change and randomly come back to you.
This is extremely draining mentally and physically but also disrespectful to yourself, and your self-esteem and dignity. So let’s go over the three main steps
(1) don’t get too attached (the art of detachment)
The first step to any problem is to reflect on yourself and see where you went wrong so either one it won’t happen again or two if it happens it won’t bother or affect you as much. Holding on to others' potential usually stems from one or more of these things, being an empath, having low self-esteem, identity of self solely based on others, and/or having low self-respect. How to fix these problems? these problems can be fixed by healing techniques such as going to therapy, journaling, and meditation. Another way to avoid this problem is to become your friend, fall in love with yourself, and heal past experiences.
(2) self-love And respect (boundaries, me over anything)
Having self-love and respect would have saved a lot of us from looking like a fool and that’s okay because now we’re bettering ourselves so it won’t happen again. a woman with self-love and respect is powerful, this woman doesn’t take crap from anyone. She always puts herself first and most importantly sets clear boundaries and stands on them. she doesn’t double back on people who disrespect her boundaries because who the fuck do they think they are disrespecting her? She’s powerful and she stands her ground women who fit this example are Lori Harvey, and Naomi Campbell. Once a person especially a man disrespects them they move accordingly. Fuck them people you come first, sis.
(3) realize you aren't a reflection of their actions (can’t change others)
This sounds easy but this step is just as hard as the others honestly might be the hardest. When someone hurts you, abuses you, and disrespects you this is not a reflection of your character but only there’s. You are only responsible for your actions AND what you put up with. Empaths especially struggle with this, you feel their trauma and pain so will sit and be their human punching bag and this needs to stop. Now not only are you not responsible for the actions of others you also can’t change others. if you think you can change hurt men/women you need to check yourself into therapy. You constantly find yourself in abusive relationships where it’s a beat down every night but you stay in hopes of changing them you need to escape and find the nearest therapist to sit down and talk to.

Chapter 1 / ao3
Chapter 2 / ao3
Chapter 3 / ao3
Chapter 4 / ao3
Story summary: Mia Flores flees to Santo Padre for one reason and one reason only: her godfather and the man who raised her, Bishop Losa. The last thing she expects is for Angel Reyes to come into her chaotic life and just maybe be the one thing that starts to make sense.
Chapter summary: Bishop gives Mia a talk then Mia and Angel have some fun.
Rated: SMUT. Sex, oral, cream pie, all that good stuff.
A/N: Esai Alvarez in this story is played by Manny Montana with Rio from Good Girls tats! Just a reminder!
Chapter 5:
“Mija?” Mia hears Bishop’s voice travel up the stairs to the bathroom where she’s finishing getting ready for a party at the clubhouse. The boys just got a big payday and that usually means a fun night.
“Bathroom!” she calls back while touching up her mascara, not at all surprised Bishop is the one to pick her up today. Angel was very clear in his text this morning the reason he wasn’t climbing into bed with her was because her godfather mentioned he planned on stopping by. Angel also mentioned that he was tired as fuck and couldn’t wait to see her later.
It doesn’t surprise her that Bishop wants to see her, he always wants to touch base after being gone on a run, and him and the boys did two back-to-back over the last week and a half, with only being home one day in between.
What does surprise her was that Angel texts her when they are on runs. It isn’t frequent, of course, but it is at least once a day, sometimes more if possible. He doesn’t say much, just that everything is going good and everyone is whole, but just the fact that he even tries means the world to her.
Most the time with Esai, Mia didn’t know he was home until she woke up and found him in bed with her, or passed out on the couch, or heard from Bishop that they were home and wanted to get lunch or dinner or something. It was rare for Esai to text her daily on runs—maybe when they first got together or if something particularly shitty was going on with her mom. She got maybe one or two texts over a five-day period, if that.
She hears Bishop making his way through the shopping bags that litter her bedroom floor. “Nice to see you’re spending your money wisely,” he comments.
“You’re the one who said you wouldn’t take anything from me for the first three months,” Mia counters while twisting the mascara closed and giving her face a last once over. “I tried to give you more than half my paycheck because I know I owe you, but you—”
“I know, I know, I’m just fucking with you,” Bishop stops her with a chuckle as he leans on the doorjamb leading to the bathroom. “You’re only doing what I want you to do—rebuild your life. I’m glad you’re making yourself at home, or at least,” his eyes flick back to the mess on her floor, “making a few businesses happy. Took a trip to El Centro?”
“That’s where Letty said the good mall is, and some pretty awesome boutiques. She wasn’t wrong,” Mia answers with a shrug. “I got her a few things too, and I’m not letting Coco pay me back, just letting you know.”
“That’s his fight, not mine,” he responds with hands up in surrender and they both smile at one another. “You look… good,” he settles on after looking her up and down a moment later.
She’s wearing a new pair of Army green cargo pants that hug her ass and thighs but are baggy at her feet. It’s matched with a dusty rose top laced up through her breasts, showing skin the whole way, but has long flowy sleeves. She isn’t wearing a bra, of course, that would throw off the whole look, but is covered up enough that Bishop won’t say anything, even if his eyes do. It should elicit a different reaction out of Angel though.
“I know,” she replies, and he chuckles again, having learned long ago that fighting about her clothes was a losing battle. “Everything went good this week? No problems?” she asks while passing him on her way out of the bathroom and starts digging through the bags for her brand new white Nikes.
Of course, she knows all went well—Angel had told her so, but Bishop doesn’t know that.
“All the drops went good, prisons up the coast and in AZ are flush with enough H to keep our brothers inside on top, and the other charters are making their deliveries,” he informs her.
“And the Chinese? I know their order was a surprise, but it seemed like you all had it handled,” she says while slipping the Air Force 1s on and smiling down at her splurge. Her godfather’s right, it’s nice to have more than a handful of things to call her own again.
“We’re a well-oiled machine,” Bishop assures her and at this Mia chortles.
“You’re definitely a well-intoxicated one,” she jokes, and they laugh once more. “I’m glad everything went well, Bop. You guys deserve this party tonight, you’ve been working your asses off lately.”
“Like we need a reason to party,” he comments, and she grins. “But a big payday does always make the boys more agreeable, and that I’m a fan of.”
“I’m sure you are. I’m ready to go if you are,” she says and slips her phone in her pocket, the only thing she’ll need for the night.
“You, uh, don’t seem surprised I’m here,” Bishop mentions.
“We usually get together when you get home,” she reminds him. “I figured we’d be doing something. It’s past lunch, so dinner,” she adds on with a shrug. “And I’m paying by the way, no buts.”
“Yeah, that ain’t happenin’,” her godfather states easily. “But, uh, wanted to check in, see how you’re doing now that you’re settling in at the job and the house, you know,” he goes on while taking a seat on her bed.
Realization washes over her. He’s not here for their normal post-run hang out, and this whole ‘check in’ shit is just that—shit. He knows how she’s doing with the job and the house, they talk every day, and before she started at the clinic he saw her everyday because she was making money at the clubhouse or scrap yard.
This isn’t just ‘checking in’. He wants to have a conversation about something particular but doesn’t know how to start it.
“I’m having flashbacks to my quinceanera, when you spent an hour talking about how I was about to become a woman,” she mumbles while taking a seat next to him, “but what you really wanted to know was if I was still a virgin because you knew Esai was about to ask me to be his girlfriend and you worried that he was going to deflower me that very night.”
“Did he?” he asks, and Mia looks at him with a raised eyebrow.
“That is none of your business, but no, he did not,” she appeases him, which isn’t a lie.
Technically, because she wasn’t a virgin that night, so when she had sex with Esai after her party she wasn’t deflowered. Not that he needs to know about that, there are some things her father doesn’t need to know. Esai was her first, but she isn’t fan of the word ‘deflower’ nor is she interested in talking to Bishop about the concept of virginity. No man’s dick is important enough to change any part of her identity.
“Good, good,” Bishop murmurs and nods. “My warnings didn’t stop you from slow dancing with him at every chance that night, though.”
“Bop,” Mia sighs and crosses her legs, “why don’t we do what we didn’t manage then? Just ask me what you want to know or tell me whatever it is you want to say, because it took me a good year to realize what you wanted from me during that long, excruciating talk before my party started.”
“I thought I was pretty clear about how decisions you made that night could affect you for the rest of your life, and how you needed to protect yourself, and do what you thought was right,” he replies.
“I was fifteen, Bop,” she reminds him. “Besides that, I knew Esai was going to officially ask me out, so I had a little more on my mind than figuring out what you were actually trying to tell me,” she goes on. “Plus, I was dreading what you all would say during your speeches, which I was right to because it was another hour of men talking about my virginity without actually talking about it and I was mortified,” she says then remembers that this isn’t the conversation her godfather wants to have. “What is on your mind, Bop?”
“Look,” he starts and leans forward onto his knees, his hands clasped together between them. “I know this shit ain’t my business, that we try to stay out of each other’s personal lives, but if it involves my club and one of my guys, I should at least know what’s going on.”
“What are you talking about?” Mia asks as dread trickles down her spine, not sure exactly how dumb to play. She doesn’t want to give away information he doesn’t know while he’s fishing for whatever it is he wants to know, you know?
Bishop continues, “I know these guys, Mia. I know them, I know their habits, their routines, and I know when something is off with one of them. They are my family just as much as you are, I’d die for them, and they’d do the same for me.”
“That’s morbid, but sweet,” she comments innocently.
“I’m being serious, Mia,” Bishop says, his voice booming. “I need you to be honest with me.”
“Then ask me what you want to know instead of trying to trick me into saying something,” she responds, her tone now just as serious.
“When we’re on runs and we’ve reached our drop point and we’re bone tired, we spend the night,” he starts. “But, boys being boys, they don’t always spend their time sleeping, if you know what I mean, and Angel is no exception.”
Mia’s stomach sinks. Does Bishop think she’s dating Angel and trying to tell her he slept with someone else on their run?
Sure, she and Angel aren’t together, but they agreed while they are hooking up to only hook up with each other. Then again, with the clinic opening she’s done little more than eat, sleep, work and repeat in the last two weeks. Maybe since she’s been too busy and tired for sex lately, he started to look elsewhere. After all, that’s what Esai used to do—get his needs met when on a run. It meant she was less likely to run into whoever he cheated with, and it also meant it was with a girl who knew better than to expect anything more from him.
“Okay,” Mia manages after a minute, not sure what else to say, and not sure why her chest feels like an open wound. It’s not the first time the guy she’s sleeping with stepped out on her when on a run.
So, Angel broke their deal, she doesn’t know what Bishop has to do with it, especially since he wasn’t supposed to know they were sleeping together in the first place. If he thinks they are dating does he think Angel just cheated on her? He always stayed out of her and Esai’s relationship—that is, until she brought him into it because she was a stupid, heartbroken kid who wanted her dad on her side, not caring what position it put him in with the club.
“I don’t know what you want from me, Bop,” she murmurs. “You know the rules, what happens on a run stays on a run, and I don’t know what this has to do with me.”
“I want you to tell me the truth about what’s going on with you and Angel, Mia,” he insists as he turns his face to look her in the eye. “I wanna know if you’re the reason why the guy who never makes the smart move and chooses to sleep on a run actually has done just that ever since you moved here.”
Oh. “Oh,” she mumbles and thinks of what to say as warmth blooms in her chest and she fights the urge to smile. He didn’t cheat on her!
Well, of course he didn’t, because they aren’t dating. He’s just the best friend she’s sleeping with.
“I know you two are close, and at the first I thought it was just him actually being tired, but it’s been months and—”
“Angel and I aren’t together,” she cuts him off quickly. “If we were, I would have told you,” she assures him. “That’s not something I would keep from you. I know what being with a guy in the club means, the power it holds, and the weakness it can be. I wouldn’t keep it a secret from you. Angel and I, we aren’t doing anything like that.”
“You sure about that?” he asks with a look of disbelief on his face.
“Yes. We’re sleeping together, that’s it,” Mia admits because there is no point in hiding it now.
They haven’t exactly been discreet. The boys know, Letty almost walked in on them, it’s only been two weeks and a few of the girls at the clinic are already whispering about him. Besides, Bishop’s too smart to think they are just friends; he knows the both of them too well.
“And we’re friends. Good friends, more like best friends, even though that makes us sound twelve,” she mumbles as an afterthought. “We can talk to each other, no bullshit, and he makes me laugh, but we’re just friends, I promise.”
“Friends,” Bishop repeats and then barks out a laugh.
“We are!” Mia insists. “I’m not fucking with you.”
He stands from the bed, a hand attempting to stifle his laughter. “No, no, I know you’re not. I know you believe you’re friends, that’s what makes this funny.”
“Bop!”
“You know, I was friends with your mother once,” he says.
“Ew! No, we’re not—this is not the same thing,” she tells him, standing so she can look him in the eye.
“Your dad was friends with her too,” he goes on.
“Enough, can we go now, please? You got the information you wanted, I’ve been adequately traumatized, I think we’re done here.”
“Yeah, yeah, we can go. Just, be safe, will ya?” he pleads, his eyes much softer now.
Mia groans. “We went over this before my quinceanera too, Bop. I know how to use a condom and have my end taken care of—”
“That’s not what I’m talking about,” her godfather cuts her off. “I mean, I’m glad you’re using protection, but I’m talking about this,” he said and jabs a finger at her chest. “Your heart doesn’t give a fuck what’s going on up here,” he says and now points at her temple. “You have control over a lot in life, what you wanna do, where you wanna live, the stuff you wear and how you show yourself to the world, but your heart? That fucker you don’t have much control of, and it’ll get you every time, trust me. So, you protect it any way you can, you hear me?”
Mia nods and bites her lip. “I hear you, Bop,” she assures him. “But you see what you just said, that’s what you should have told me before my quinceanera,” she says. “That is the straightforward kind of shit a fifteen-year-old needs to hear.”
Bishop grins and leans forward to kiss her forehead. “Shut up and get on my bike, will ya?”
“Sure thing, Papa,” she answers and leads the way down the steps and out the door, completely missing the look on Bishop’s face at her calling him dad, even if only in passing. If she had, she probably wouldn’t be calling him just ‘Bop’ much longer. “But I’m still paying for dinner!” she calls over her shoulder, not caring to listen to his response because she isn’t going to fold on this one.
Hours later Mia tilts her neck to the side, giving Angel room to continue his hot kisses, her eyes trying to focus on the fire in front of them, but everything is getting hazy. “I’m starting to think I shouldn’t have told you,” she murmurs, hoping he thinks her low tone is because she’s trying to be quiet, not because she’s breathless.
“What you mean?” he wonders, his lips now at her ear, his teeth teasing at her lobe.
“You wouldn’t be torturing me like this if I hadn’t told you Bishop knows,” she moans and pulls away when he hits a particularly sensitive spot. “We need to stop. I told you we have to be respectful when he’s around.”
“Baby, this isn’t disrespectful,” he insists, his hands now playing with the lace strings at the front of her top. “If you want to see what that looks like though…” he says and tugs on the knot.
“Angel!” she gasps and slaps his hand away. “Be good.”
He grins and pulls away, leaving an arm around her shoulders and leans back in their bench seat. It’s the backseat of what probably was some kind of station wagon that the boys pulled out of the scrapyard. It fits three, and since they are so low to the ground Angel’s legs are spread out in front of them, otherwise they’d be touching his chest.
“Fuck, it feels good to be home for more than 12 fucking hours,” he sighs while scooting down the seat even more so his head can rest on her shoulders. “Feels even better to know I get to spend tomorrow doin’ nothing but you.”
At this, Mia laughs, and it’s full and hearty. “As long as you make it worth my time,” she comments. “I do only get one full weekend off a month, you know?”
“Mi dulce, have I ever not left you shaking uncontrollably on my cock?” Angel questions while lighting a cigarette, his actions very nonchalant after the sentence he just dropped.
“Hey, there’s a first time for everything,” she teases him.
He shakes his head at her. “Keep talkin’ shit, we’ll see how tough you are later,” he warns as he decides he isn’t comfortable enough and moves so his head is in her lap, his legs taking up the rest of their seat.
“Ooh, I’m scared,” she sing-songs.
“Better be,” he insists as smoke escapes his lips. “I just spent the last week on the road with dudes, busy as fuck, and without tasting my girl for sixteen days because of her job. I have needs, querida.”
Mia rolls her lips together to keep from laughing. “My poor little drug smuggler,” she coos. “Did you have a tough time partying in Oregon?”
“Yeah, fucking right. It always turns into a pissing match up there,” Angel grumbles. “They are the biggest charter next to Oakland, so they think they got bigger balls than the rest of us. The rest of ‘em forget they wouldn’t have any H if it wasn’t for Santo Padre risking our asses in the tunnels, over the border, and riding it up the fucking coast.”
“I’m sure you guys didn’t have a problem reminding them,” she comments with a hand carding through his hair.
“Didn’t have to,” he replies, “E did it for us. He’s still new to the prez patch, so he’s making sure everyone knows their places, that even though his pop isn’t the president of Oakland anymore doesn’t mean they aren’t in control.”
Mia’s movements stumble. “E? E—Esai was there?”
“Yeah. He likes to make himself known on big hauls, says he’s getting his hands dirty too, not just getting rich off our work,” Angel tells her. “Earns a lot of respect that way, and he gets to know everyone, even prospects.”
She nods, her eyes studying the orange glow. “He does have a way of making everyone feel special,” she mumbles. “Did he… did he, um, ask about me?”
Angel inhales deeply. “Asked Bish,” he says with smoke leaking from his mouth.
“What did he say?”
“I don’t know, they were walking away, wasn’t my business to listen,” he reminds her.
“Not your business?” Mia demands. “I’m—we’re best friends, it’s your business if I say it is and it is.”
“Oookay?” Angel says with his voice on the verge of laughter. “What did you want me to say?” he asks while flicking his butt into the fire. “’Wassup bro, you know the only girl you said you’d ever love? Well, I’m fucking her regularly. She says hi’?”
Mia shrugs. “You coulda gone without ‘the only girl you’d ever love’ part, I feel like that’s a little blow the belt,” she offers, and he chuckles.
“You’re alright with the ‘fucking her regularly’ part then?”
“I mean,” she starts with another shrug, “I’ve heard enough about his exploits, he can hear some of mine.”
Angel takes her free hand and links it through his. “You miss him. Just call him, querida.”
“He didn’t talk to you at all?” she asks, ignoring him, and his suggestion, as she does every time she thinks of it herself.
“We spoke, I guess? Said hi, asked how shit was, I said good, asked how his shit was, he said good, we laughed at something dumb Pac said—”
“Pac was there?” Mia questions, her voice sad as it tapers off. “Of course, Pac was there, he’s Esai's El Pacificador,” she mumbles to herself. “What’d you laugh at him for?” she demands with a punch to the chest with their connected hands.
“Ow! Nothin’! It was a joke. We weren’t laughing at him, geez,” Angel defends.
“Pac’s the fuckin’ best, he was always being made fun of by assholes when we were kids, but… he did it on purpose. That way they weren’t teasing anyone else,” she tells him. “Then Esai came around and a fight would break out. I was the look out,” she says with both nostalgia and pride splashed across her face. “We were the three musketeers.”
“Did that extend to when you and E started dating—stop fuckin’ hitting me!” he exclaims in a laugh.
“No, it did not,” she answers anyways. “But Pac felt left out so I’d make sure to plan stuff with the three of us,” she goes on. “He used to get upset because girls were afraid to date him knowing if they hurt him I’d fuck them up.”
Angel stares up at her and licks his lips. “Call them, baby, I know you miss them.”
“It’s not that easy—”
“It is. Especially with Paco, you think he’s gonna bring up what happened? He’s just gonna be happy to talk to you. He’s like a fuckin’ puppy with a gun.”
At this, Mia laughs. “You’re not wrong, but if I talk to Paco, he’s gonna tell Esai and—”
“So fucking call them both,” he cuts her off again. “Esai’s fucked you over enough times that he definitely owes you one. Call, you don’t have to say you’re sorry or explain shit if you don’t want to. If he’s fuckin’ smart he’ll just pick up wherever you left off.”
“Owes me more like a hundred and one,” she mumbles. “I’ll think about it, okay?”
“Alright,” he replies easily.
“That’s… that’s it? You’re not gonna keep pushing me or tell me I should do it or anything?” she wonders.
Angel sits up and gives her a shrug, “Ain’t my place. I said my part. I think you should reach out. You’ve never given Esai your new number, so he can’t do it. If you want me or Bish to pass your number along, just say so. Otherwise, it’s on you.”
Mia leans forward and presses a kiss to his lips. “You’re cute, osito,” she whispers.
“Don’t spread it around,” he murmurs, then kisses her again.
“Imma spread something later,” she says and Angel chuckles against her lips. “That sounded better in my head,” she admits and drops her head to his chest.
“To be fair, I didn’t think we were spreading mulch around,” he replies while wrapping his arms around her shoulders. “Fuck, that reminds me, I told Bish I’d cut your grass tomorrow.”
“You just volunteered for this?” she asks as she lifts her head enough to look him in the eye.
“He was about to make EZ do it, and I didn’t want him at the house—I’m tryna keep you naked most the day tomorrow—so I said I’d do it, that I was dropping by anyways,” Angel explains. “Now that he knows we’re fucking he knows that was a lie, but,” he stops with a shrug. “Imma still do it.”
“You’re trying to keep me naked tomorrow, huh?” she says with a smile. “Then how am I gonna give you a beer dressed in a tiny bikini top and my shortest shorts while you mow the lawn?”
Angel pulls her by the back of her neck until they are kissing. “That ain’t happenin’ unless you want me to take you right there in the grass.”
“Only if you’re on the bottom,” Mia counters, “I feel like grass would rub in a bad way, you know?”
He laughs as he drops his head to her shoulder. “So, you want my ass on fire?”
“Better than mine!” she replies. “And you get to stare at my boobs, so no complaining.”
“Never,” he murmurs, about to go into another kiss when they are interrupted.
“Either of you need a beer?” they hear over their heads and look up to find EZ.
“If we fucking did you look real empty handed,” Angel tells his brother, then grimaces when Mia smacks him once again. “Fucking stop that,” he mutters and rubs his chest. “It’s the same spot every fucking time.”
“No, we’re good Ezekiel, thank you,” Mia answers for them after a pointed look at his older brother.
“We are?” Angel asks with crinkled eyebrows.
“If you plan on driving me home, yeah,” she tells him and he pouts, but doesn’t speak up because he knows its code leaving soon.
He does, however, stand up. “Alright, if we’re heading out I gotta take a piss,” he says, taking her hint. “You should too, you know, for what I got planned for you,” he says while sending a wink Mia’s way before sauntering off.
“You know,” EZ starts while plopping down next to her. “He’s heading into the clubhouse like he hasn’t whipped it out in front of us all week on the road.”
“Yeah, most the girls have probably seen it too,” Mia agrees, and EZ laughs in agreement. “Woulda saved him a trip.”
EZ looks to see his brother disappear into the clubhouse. “Look, I, uh, wanted to talk to you real quick before Angel comes back.”
“Should I be nervous about this?” she asks, racking her brain for something EZ would need to talk to her about, but comes up with nothing.
“No, I just—” he stops and lifts his butt up as he reaches for his wallet. “When we were teenagers, Angel was real into art. He was really good at it too, it was something he and our mom did together.”
Mia nods, not wanting to tell him she already knew this, but is intrigued all the same. What could he have to tell her?
“But, uh, back then he doodled on everything. It drove our parents nuts. It would be all over the mail, the newspaper, his homework, everything,” he goes on. “He, uh, he stopped when Mom died, and as far as I knew he hadn’t gotten back into it,” he stops and looks to make sure Angel isn’t on his way back yet. “But, uh, before we left the motel at one of our stops, the guys made me go in to check the rooms, to make sure we didn’t leave anything. I saw this and took it without thinking,” he says and pulls a folded piece of paper from the wallet to hand to her.
She opens it with eyes crinkled to find a sketch of her done in pen.
“When I looked at it closer later I thought you should have it,” he finishes.
“I… um,” she stutters, her eyes glued to the paper. It’s only from her shoulders up, and it is rough, but undoubtedly her.
“You’ve brought out a part of my brother Pop and I haven’t seen in over eight years,” EZ tells her as she studies the sketch. “He’s not as angry or closed off. He actually even mentioned our mom the other day and we never talk about her.”
“EZ, I—”
“You don’t have to say anything, Mia. I know you guys are just friends, but I know that my brother feeling lighter, and it’s all because of you. I just wanted to thank you and give you this. It’s of you, so you should have it,” he insists.
“Thanks,” she murmurs while refolding it and putting it in her pocket. “He’s my best friend, the best I’ve ever had.”
“You’re the best he’s ever had too,” EZ tells her and stands, then offers her a hand. “Just don’t tell Coco, a fight might break out.”
Mia shrugs as he helps her up. “I don’t know, I think I could take him, he’s small, you know, and I have training.”
“I’d pay to see that,” he replies and they are laughing when Angel comes back.
“Aye, get your own girl best friend,” Angel jokes while slipping both arms around her shoulders from behind, making his little brother shake his head and walk away. “You ready to go?”
“I don’t know, but I am ready to cum,” she says then laughs at her own stupidity.
Angel turns her around and looks at her as if embarrassed for her before shrugging and lifting her over his shoulder.
“Ah! Angel!” she laughs with hands on his hips to steady herself as he heads for his bike.
“I’m just giving you what you want, mi dulce,” he insists. “Better yell bye to Bish, you’re gonna be busy for the rest of the weekend.”
Mia tries to take in her surroundings between the strips of hair blocking her vision, looking for her godfather in the upside-down masses. When she can’t find him, she just takes Angel’s advice. “Bye, Bop! I’ll call you tomorrow!” she shouts and the people around her laugh, Angel included.
“Alright, be safe!” she hears and raises a hand in acknowledgement at his double-edged meaning, but he has nothing to worry about. She’s on the pill and while Angel is in her heart, it’s not in a bad way, a way that would end in heartbreak like all her relationships do. He’s just her friend because anything more would fuck everything up and she isn’t going to let that happen.
Angel is too important.
*
It had just been a joke the day before, a flippant comment.
Mia had no real intention of putting on a bikini and teasing Angel as he mowed the grass, but—well, she did just buy one and it is hot outside and Angel isn’t one to turn down a beer, ever.
Him outside in a light pair of gray sweatpants and t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up didn’t help, his skin glistening in the California sun, hair free of its usual gel and so blowing gently in the breeze, and those dark shades on his face—it’s enough to make any girl weak in the knees.
Seconds later she’s running up the steps and digging through her shopping bags searching for the bikini Letty insisted she buy the day before. It’s a warm yellow with long strings that wrap and crisscross underneath her breasts before tying at her back. Instead of matching it with the bottoms, she jumps into her shortest black shorts that barely cover the slope of her ass. She throws her hair up into a messy bun before putting on some lotion, so her skin is extra soft and glowy, and envelopes her in a flowery smell, which she knows Angel is a sucker for.
Mia takes a beer from the fridge, cursing him for not buying twist offs as she searches for a bottle opener just as the lawnmower cuts off.
“Fuck!” she curses and decides to forget about opening it. If Angel actually decides to drink the beer while she’s wearing this they are going to share loud words.
She opens the door to the backyard to find Angel on his knees, his hands on the lawnmower, looking at something. He doesn’t look at her as pushes his sunglasses up into his hair before reaching for his phone and, she guesses, sends a text.
“I ran out of gas,” he calls over, his eyes trained on the cell phone screen. “Do you know if Bish keeps a gas can around?”
“No idea,” she answers while patiently waiting for him to look up.
“He doesn’t,” Angel confirms as he stands, his thumbs flying over the screen with a look of annoyance on his face. “He’s gonna send Creep with a gas can in a little bit, what’re you—” he stops as he finally lays eyes on her.
“I thought you might be thirsty,” she says innocently and holds the beer out, but makes no move to get closer.
His eyes look her up and down. “Are you fucking kidding me?” he asks with no heat.
“What’re you talking about?” she questions and shakes the beer a little. “Do you want the beer or not?”
“Fuck no,” Angel answers. “But if you don’t get in the house right now we’re gonna find out if grass really does burn.”
Mia drops the bottle when Angel starts after her, and she shrieks with laughter. He catches up with her in the living room, grabbing her around the middle and lifting her off her feet.
“You think it’s funny to tease me, hm?” he asks in her ear, his hands splayed across her abdomen now.
“You were teasing me first,” she counters and bites her lip as his hands attempt to feel every inch of her. “Wearing those sweatpants low and showing off your arms. I’m only being fair.”
“You think this is me teasing?” Angel demands of her as he makes his way to the couch, pushing her down onto it. “Nah, I’ll show you how I tease, baby,” he warns before getting on his knees.
In retrospect, she should have known Angel would take this as some sort of challenge. He always does, even if they are just playing around.
Later, she might think he does it as a way to prove himself, even if subconsciously, to show he can do anything she puts him up to because his parents never expected anything out of him the way they did EZ.
But now, as his buries his face between her legs, the psychology of it is far from her mind. Except maybe her own, how she’s a glutton for punishment, but instead of falling into old habits of shitty boyfriends she does this. It’s a healthier outlet, that’s for sure.
“Angel, baby, please,” she pleads when he pulls away after edging her for the third time.
“You think you deserve to cum, mi dulce?” he asks as he wipes her wetness from his beard and starts to leave wet kisses up her stomach and chest.
“Yes,” she breathes and gasps when he nips at her nipple after having pushed aside the cup of her bikini.
“But you haven’t been good,” he tells her before switching to her other breast, teeth scraping and tongue swirling, making her moan and mewl. A moment later he slips two fingers inside her and she sighs at the feeling of something filling her up, even if it’s not as big and thick as what she’s craving.
“I—I have,” she stutters out as she cradles his face in her hands.
“You think?” he asks and his fingers crook inside her just right making her tremble.
Mia nods. “Please, I want to cum for you,” she whispers and pushes her forehead against his. “Angel, let me show you I can be good.”
He smiles at her, it’s easy and carefree makes her heart skip a beat. “Do as I say and I’ll let you cum as much as you want, okay?” he starts and she nods up and down over and over until he starts rubbing slow circle on her clit as his long fingers slip in and out of her. “Say it.”
“I’ll do as you say,” she moans, her eyes struggling to stay trained on his.
“That’s my girl,” he murmurs with a quick kiss. “You’re not going to cum on my fingers or my mouth, you’re not allowed to,” he tells her, and she wants to whine, but knows it won’t help her case. “Soon, I’m gonna get on the couch and you’re gonna ride my dick,” he says, and she nods once more, this time appreciatively. “And you’re gonna cum as much as you can when I’m inside you. I wanna feel you cum on my cock, you hear me? I want to feel every single one of ‘em. I want you to cover my cock in your cream.”
“Yes, yes, okay,” Mia agrees with her hands threaded into Angel’s hair.
“Then, when I think you’re done, you’re gonna get on your knees just like I am now and lick it all off me until I cum down the back of your throat,” he finishes.
“Yes, please. Angel, yes,” she pleads and pulls on his shirt in an attempt to get him on the couch, but all it does is make Angel remove his shirt entirely.
“Oh, baby girl,” he says with a lick of his lips. “I said ‘soon’ we’re gonna do all that, remember? I’m not done tasting you,” he tells her. “Until last night I went sixteen days without this, and I hated it,” he mumbles as his fingers start to play with her slit again.
Mia just closes her eyes and enjoys the feel of his fingers inside her, playing with her, torturing her.
“You’re so fucking wet for me, baby,” he mumbles against her skin. “Look at me,” he orders, and she forces her eyes open, but her eyelids remain heavy. “Feel with me,” he says, his voice much softer now, and takes her hand in his and brings it down to her opening. “Put your fingers in.”
She does as she’s told and her much smaller fingers slide in with no resistance, coating her skin in her slick juices. She moans at the feeling, but it’s nothing compared to Angel’s long fingers, and not even close to his thick dick.
“I want you,” Mia whimpers as Angel guides her fingers in and out of her. “Not me, I want—”
“I know,” Angel cuts her off. “Here, see why yours is my favorite,” he insists and brings her wet fingers to her mouth to taste. She opens for him and he smiles. “Good girl,” he murmurs as her lips close around her own fingers.
“Mm,” she moans at her taste and Angel smiles at her.
He leans down and takes a swipe up her slit and mimics her ‘mm’ before getting up on the couch and shucking his sweatpants off. “C’mere, baby,” he offers, and she jumps at the chance to swing a leg over his hips and settles down on his dick. “Fuck, I missed you,” he sighs as she sinks down on him. “I know I said it last night, but it’s fucking true,” he insists with his hands on her hips.
“I missed you too,” she replies as she starts to move frantically on top of him, chasing the release he’s been keeping from her. Her arms wrap around his shoulders for leverage, and she leans her head to rest against his. “Please, please, please,” she chants as she practically impales herself on his cock.
“C’mon, you can do it. I wanna feel the way you shake around me,” he says and it’s like a switch goes off inside her and she does exactly as he says.
She cums and her body shakes as her pussy trembles around him, but rather than let her come down Angel starts bucking his hips up inside her. “Fuck, fuck, fuck,” she swears and buries her face in his neck as she comes again, not as strongly, but it still makes Angel cuss as she clamps down around him.
Mia’s still trembling when Angel shifts to lie down on the couch, his hands undoing the knot at her back so her bikini becomes slack. He slips it over her head and tosses it to the side before lifting her chin to look at him. “You done already, mi dulce?” he asks while pulling at the back of her knees so he’s even deeper inside her.
She moans, but shakes her head.
“You sure?” he wonders with a thumb circling her clit. “All you gotta do is tap out and get on your knees to finish this, baby.”
“I’m not done,” Mia says once she composes herself, then with a twinkle in her eye stands, hating how empty she feels, even if for only a moment, before turning around and settling back down on him in reverse cowgirl, knowing it’s one of his favorite positions.
“Yes,” Angel groans in pleasure, his hips bucking to get deeper inside her.
She leans forward with hands on her knees and gets her hips going, throwing her head back as she grinds down on top of him. Suddenly, she feels a tug at her scalp, and she’s pulled back against Angel’s chest, her back arched perfectly in the air.
With one hand in her hair, Angel uses his other to reach around and rubs his fingers into her swollen clit. “Where am I, baby?” he asks in her ear, his voice low and full of gravel.
“My stomach, holy shit,” she cries and cums, this time feeling a gush and she knows she’s creaming his dick like he wanted, and it only makes her hips move faster. “One more, one more, please,” she pleads with both Angel and herself.
Angel lets her hair go and both arms move to pull at the back of her knees so she’s folded in half, lifting her in the air as his hips buck up into her pussy. “You’re so fucking tight, baby girl,” he says with each plunge inside her.
Mia completely let’s go, letting Angel take the lead and relaxes the best she can in his arms, her pussy clenching on his cock as she readies to cum.
“Go, go, go,” he chants, and she does with a spasm, her whole body shaking as it does when Angel is deep inside her, pleasuring her over and over again.
She hears him grunt behind her and knows he’s painfully close, he has to be.
When he puts her down, she doesn’t hesitate. It takes all the energy she has left to get off him and turn on her knees, doing as she’s told and takes all of him in her mouth in one go.
“Fuck,” he swears with fingers threaded into her hair so she doesn’t move. “You taste yourself on my dick, querida?” he asks, and she nods as her head bobs. “Suck it all off, baby.”
It’s not even a minute later that Angel is emptying himself down the back of her throat as promised. She opens her throat and takes everything he gives her, swallowing his white heat.
When she lets him go with a pop, she finds his face looking completely blissed out as she wipes her lips.
“Wanna know a secret?” she asks while lowering herself on top of him, his arms automatically wrapping around her, holding their sweat slicked bodies close.
“Mhm,” he murmurs with fingers carding through her hair.
“Your dick is my favorite too,” she admits and hears him chuckle against her hairline.
Before her can respond they hear the loud roar of a motorcycle pulling up. “Fuck, that’s Creep with the gas,” Angel groans and flips so she slides down the side of him onto the couch.
“Have fun finishing the grass,” Mia sighs and feels a blanket being placed over her, making her smile.
“You think you’re real funny, huh?” he asks while hopping into his shorts.
Mia shrugs, then squeals when he tickles her side.
“Aye, Angel, you in there?” they hear as the door starts to open.
“Yeah!” her best friend exclaims and runs for the door before Creeper can come in. “Lemme take you ‘round back,” he says and stops the other Mayan from coming in.
Mia just smiles against her blanket thinking she’s a lucky girl. She’s got a best friend who can fuck her then get up and cut her grass. He’s definitely a keeper.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* requests are open ! *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Dark and gloomy clouds swirl over your head, blending into an extremely large and angry looking ready to descend from above. You wonder to yourself just how long you have left before the loud cracks that crumble through the air to accompany the forceful winds and pouring drops of rain are finally released. Halfway through the trip back from the town that lays after miles from the prison the car used decided it preferred to lay quietly in the middle of the road, shortly after the sickly sputters from the engine you heard Daryl mutter a few curse words. You were unable to hold in your amusement, despite the fact that a lack of transport obviously leaves you in a vulnerable position, it felt like it was your luck for that to happen to you.
It’s why you stay behind following the hunter in silence.
Studying him with focused eyes you can’t help but wonder how he never realises when you’re unable to tear your gaze away from him. In the beginning when you began to develop a certain affection for him you had been glad, for it to be too embarrassing for the thoughts you had about him in your head. In spite of this, when you realised that it was much more than a crush did you wish for him to mind read, because you have no idea just how to approach him about such a sensitive topic and while he can be tender about feelings, it’s also his downfall.
“ it’ll be gettin’ dark soon, there should be some houses down there to spend the night in. “
You stop in your tracks with a curious look that bled so suddenly into your features you had no time to stop it.
“ you don’t want to carry on? I mean, we’re not far from home? “ you question him with a hint of fear coddling your words.
“ we’d be trippin’ over our feet. Let’s back it back in one piece, yeh? “
Nodding, you regain your pace. It’s been a few months since you’d been hopping from one house to the other during that harsh winter, the bare thought of having to stay in yet another frail structure sent a chilly hand drawing its claws deeply up your spine. If you never had your group, you don’t think you would have made a winter like that, barely protected from the elements and the walkers that wished to plunge their teeth cavernously into your flesh.
“ as long as we leave as soon as the sun comes up. Please. “ you plead, your words filter off into a gentle volume from your position.
Leaves crumble and buckle underneath the weight, the sound of crickets dominate your surroundings as the two of you walk in silence. You itch to start a conversation, but the fear of distracting the man and annoying withhold the words that wish to fall from your lips, even then you don’t know how to begin. What would you say? There’s not much to talk about in a world where the dead have risen, where they wish to drag the world into decomposition.
Your wandering mind is pulled from its very own depths from a noise coming from Daryl, he’d turned to catch your attention. You both set to work attempting to enter any of the abandoned houses, hoping one had been left unlocked at some point.
Of course, luck is scarce. Despite there not being a soul who occupies them, they’re still somehow locked. Mournfully, you wonder if the owners of these homes had thought the governments and armies would eventually lock everything under their control, to the point that there would be a house for them to come back to? Your heart thuds painfully in your chest to think about what happened to them, and if they’re even still surviving.
A large thud draws you back to the present, the wooden door splinters at the force Daryl puts into a large kick to its frame.
“ well, there goes the lock. “ you mutter humourously, lifting the heavy bag higher up onto your shoulders as you walk in the open door.
“ we’ll put the couch there, stop any unfriendly types that come our way. “
“ I don’t know if there’s anyone left anymore. “ you reply, dropping the bag to the floor and moving towards the couch.
Situated on the other side of it, you grip the plush handle and lift with a struggle. It’s a strain to get it through the doorway to turn it around the corner, but eventually it happens. Daryl is joined by your presence by his side, you both push ⏤ this time it’s an easier feat with two of you on one side to dedicate your strength and weight to advance it.
As soon as you finish, a heavy crackle cuts through the air.
“ we got here just in time, huh? “
“ just about. “ he answers you, sparing a glance before moving through the lower floor ⏤ searching for anything that can be taken back to the prison.
Thunderstorms had never been your favourite thing growing up. Of course, rain was something that calmed you from the anxieties life brought, but the thunder and lightning is what you loathed. Never knowing when you were about to receive a fright from the loud rumbles and flashing lights ruined the whole experience for you.
The rustling Daryl makes is the only thing that brings you comfort in this moment, keeping you grounded and away from your thoughts. It doesn’t escape your notice that these houses feel no more than graveyards with the memories that have no use to live, instead haunting the structures with what could have been had chaos and death not taken over. You climb the stairs, hugging your sides as you refuse to touch the handrail leading up stairs.
There is a middle room with access granted without having to push open the door to gain entry. Your eyes scan the room’s interior, even with the dust and grime that bespeckle its surfaces, you can still see its beauty. Now, who does that remind you of? Your mind cheekly thinks before you banish it into the shadows of your brain, where you know it will force itself out with an immense stubbornness.
Despite the thunder booming in the distance frequently, you can’t help but admire the beauty of rain drops falling to the ground with a dainty grace only it holds. The sky continues to grow dimmer, only seeing the rain on your level and lower, no street lights flood the street to aid you in being able to see torrent from above. Jumping at another roar of sound from the storm, your heart begins to pick up its pace, so much you don’t realise Daryl joining you in the room.
“ scared? “
Turning around with such speed that leaves you surprised whiplash did not greet you, Daryl is left smirking at your reaction.
“ yeah, I hate these things. “ you respond, a bitterness coating each word heavily as you speak.
“ more than walkers? “ he questions you, as he shifts his weight from one foot to the other.
“ well, I suppose not that much .. “ another clap of thunder interrupts you, the rain beating harder and harder on the windows of the bedroom. “ can we talk about anything? This shit really grates on my nerves. “
“ what y’wanna talk about? “
Your mind stalls, with the previous thoughts that had been swirling in a state of disorder your draw a blank. A continuous thump downstairs interrupts your shrug, speeding down the stairs you realise a few walkers are trying to enter the property, of course their lack of intelligence fails to realise they’re throwing themselves into the walls and not the blocked doors.
“ shall we take them out? “ moving closer to the lengthy curtained window next to the door to get a better look, you can see three walkers hauling themselves mindlessly against the structure.
“ nah, the storm’ll get ‘em soon enough. “ he shakes his head softly, your mind taking note of the lack of proximity between your bodies as he repeats your action. “ no need to risk ourselves. “
“ wouldn’t be the first time you’ve risked your life. “
“ s’nothin. “ he contradicts gruffly, wiping a finger across his nose at your words. He truly doesn’t view it as that, refusing to think of it as risking his life. To Daryl, it doesn’t feel like risking everything to help the people around him, it’s not something he can find the words to explain but all he knows if there’s a chance, he would do it again and again.
“ Daryl Dixon, so humble. “ you speak warmly with a gentle smile threading itself into your features. “ you need to give yourself more credit. “
“ stop. “
“ you’re as brave as anyone in the group. I’d say braver than Rick. “ you joke, setting yourself from the entryway to the sitting room. “ although, if I had to choose you and Carol .. I’m sorry, but Carol every time! “
“ damn woman frightens me. “
Laughter light in weight dances airily between you with an elegance in its movement. For even a fraction of a second you forget that there are walkers that are itching to break through into the property, that there’s an angry storm that threatens to demolish whatever stands in its path, because right now it’s only you both here and now in this one room.
“ she’s come a long way. “ you agree, pulling a lone chocolate bar from your bag. Your favourite and you’re thanking the universe that it hasn’t spoiled yet. Turns out all these preservatives and chemicals have some use after all you note to yourself as half is offered to the man standing across from you.
“ so have ‘yuh. “ he acknowledges, taking the broken half of the candy from you.
“ I think we all have to be honest. I don’t think any one of us are the people we used to be. “
“ now who’s humble? “ Daryl asks, his tone light in relaxed merriment. He’d long since taken note of the transformation you’d gone through, he’s never seen you so strong as a person before.
“ don’t you turn this round on me, Dixon. “
The two of you fall silent, you direct your gaze to the window and the raindrops that litter the window pane’s surface. The harsh noises thundered no more, leaving a calm pitter of precipitation to fall with no interruption. From your position on the second couch, you wrap around a thin decorational blanket around your arms, leaning your cheek against the palm of your hand.
Pretending the world hasn’t gone to hell, that it’s just a normal evening where you’re admiring the scene before you. Skies that weep heavily is what the Georgian greenery has been calling out for, especially since the warmer temperatures have returned in full force. Switching your line of sight to Daryl, you feel a mellowness in the pit of your stomach as you watch him fondly. You can’t be sure if it’s the lack of distractions or eyes from your group, but you feel a miniscule spark of confidence within your confines.
“ come sit down, you can relax for a bit. “ you call, trying to convince him lightly. Your hand moves to pat the seat next to you.
“ can’t relax in this world. “ despite the disagreement in his words he does move towards your position on the plush seat.
“ it doesn’t mean we can’t make it. Otherwise we’d be burnt out, I’d hate to see that happen to you. “ You divulge as you reply to him, little inklings of hope in your tone.
“ y’don’t gotta worry ‘bout me. “
“ but I do, Daryl. “ you groan as a dull glumness contorts your features into something new. “ I mean, the lengths you go to .. you scare me to death. “
“ don’t be dumb. “ Daryl warns lowly as he shakes his head, few have shared their vulnerability with him. Perhaps only Carol, his mind can’t wrap itself around the fact that people genuinely care for him. Growing up, he’d been taught of it as a weakness. Something that should not exist, no one cared when he went missing for a short while as a child, and now having people who show him the opposite? It leaves a strange feeling to settle within his heart.
“ please, I need to tell you. I mean, I might not even be here tomorrow. “
“ nah, don’t say that. Y’will. “ he argues, he doesn’t even want to entertain the notion of not seeing you even for a day ⏤ let alone forever.
Truthfully, you’d not been particularly close. He understands it now, he pushed everyone away wherever he had the chance to. But after the downfall of the farm? You wouldn’t let up in trying to forge bonds that could rival even the strongest of metals. You had no idea, but he’d overheard you talking to Beth one day. When you said you didn’t want to be afraid of living, to have something worth dying for. That struck him deep.
“ neither you or I can guarantee that. Now, call me selfish but I can’t die with what ifs in my brain. “ you explain, you know it’s probably selfish to announce any kind of fondness for a person nowadays, because you can be ripped from their existence without any kind of announcement. But if you were to depart from the realm of the living, you’d want to have affectionate memories to experience and for them to look back on.
“ what y’sayin? “
Your eyes well up in frustration, whether it’s over the way you find the words are hiding beneath your tongue like cowards under the cloak of night or over the fact that you have begun this topic of conversation, backing yourself into a corner. There’s so much you want to say but how you should is not coming easy. Eloquence in your words is something you find yourself yearning for with all of your being should it bring you a happy ending to this discussion.
This isn’t a fairytale, there’s no happy or bad endings in real life you sorely think. There’s just reality, and the conclusions for that are neither black or white.
Fingertips grip the roots of your hair for a fleeting moment before letting go as if you’d never clutched them in exasperation at all.
Shutting your eyes so hard they hurt, you muster up the courage to speak the truth you’ve locked away in your heart, allowing it the light it has been deprived of for so long.
“ Daryl, I ⏤ “ your voice shuts off with a painful sound, sighing as if to psych yourself up. “ I feel more for you than I probably should. “
When Daryl says nothing, you open your eyes. Your entire being preparing yourself for the worse answer, this moment may hurt now but the pain will lessen. At least your soul feels lighter with the hidden information no longer chained to it as a burden, no longer will it have to be weighed down by its mass.
“ I know it’s probably not what you want to hear, but I couldn’t keep it in any longer. “
“ who said I didn’t wanna hear? “
“ ⏤ what ? “ you question, your brows falling lower as you squint in disbelief. You wonder if your brain is forming a false memory to protect itself later on.
“ y’don’t nothin’ to do with me though. “ he hesitates, the automatic response to push away anything good that comes his way to the furthest reaches. “ nothin’ but trouble. “
A sorrowful smile full of grief clouds your features, your unshed tears threaten to fall. If only he could see himself from your point of view, he doesn’t see just how admirable of a human being he is. Yes, he has his flaws but who doesn’t? In all of humanity, you don’t think there has ever been a perfect person, but it’s how they approach their downsides that shows the peak of their humanity, that they don’t let the darkness fester in their heart, to poison their soul into becoming a shell of a kind hearted person. That shows the strength of their character.
Daryl? You feel honoured to have been a first hand witness to see him turn from a hot ball of anger to a softer, kinder soul.
“ Daryl, you really don’t see what I do.” you forsake everything, leaning forwards and laying your hands across his. Taking in the immense warmth from them. “ That? It hurts me, because you’re rather amazing. “
Saying nothing, Daryl looks down at your intertwined hands. He wants the chance that’s being offered, though the fear of being the one who poisons everything he lays his touch upon settles heavily on his shoulder. No one has come out unscarred when dealing with a member of the Dixon family, his family tree being nothing more than toxic, with weeds that wrap around the limbs of the poor fool who got involved with them, as they drag them to their lowly depths. He doesn’t know how to let go of the past and for this he continues to pay, with the high price being his happiness in the present world. No response leaves his lips, for the first time in a long time he doesn’t know what to say, while knowing what he wants to say. It’s not until he feels arms wrapped around the top of his shoulders is he brought back down to Earth, a shudder of a breath is released from him as he realises what is going on. The action is reciprocated in earnest, you’re full of gratitude that he’s accepting your comfort ⏤ knowing it could have been a gamble of a decision, a fifty fifty chance of him reacting negatively or positively. You, too, draw comfort from the position you both find yourself, clutching the other. Hope dawns on your heart, knowing Daryl is not a particularly affectionate man. This means a lot, for it’s a leap for you both.
“ thank you. “ he whispers in the night. You know that this is the start of something new.

Jade. The fate of female character in Mortal Kombat
It’s been a while since I posted anything on my blog cause I’ve been busy with my life and rapid changes in it. During this time, I’ve watched the new 2021 Mortal Kombat movie as well as the new animation Battle of the realms and also rewatched the Story Mode of MK11 a few times. As you probably can tell, I have a lot to say.
JADE. MILEENA. KITANA. SONYA.
Skip this if you don’t want to read my very important (and long as sh*t) rant about female characters in MK.
DISCLAIMER. This thing is going to sound extremely feminist and women-supremacist or whatever. By saying things that I’m going to say, I by no means think that male characters should be weak or lacking. If anything, it would be nice to have some godforsaken EQUALITY. I’ll explain further later.
Part One: Mortal Kombat (2021)
There’s no Jade in this movie.
The end. That should be the sole reason I dislike it.
However, it might be better this way since the Nitara and Mileena portrayals in this movie are... questionable to say the least. Okay, y’all been robbed. If MY JADE would be brought into this movie to BE THERE for like 4 minutes of screen time only to get absolutely brutal FATALITY I. would. be. pissed.
More than I already am and that means something.
Sure, there’s a possibility that she’s going to be present in some of the upcoming movies because this one is definitely not the only one they’re going to make. But do I want that? Yes. And no.
Mortal Kombat movies (and Mortal Kombat in general) have a problem with women portrayal in general. The target audience for them are MEN, potentially heterosexual men, who want nothing more than bloody gorey fighting scenes with occasional sex scene here and there. To achieve that, they need a female lead, an attractive, kinda kick-assish but not too much, to not overshadow the absolutely badass men characters. Girls tend to be “independent” (because God forbid they’d want to express interest in the male leads before the time is right), sarcastic, laid back and sometimes even bitchy. Because, you see, they are fighters. And they are Sonya Blade. They need NO MAN. They just need plot armor, bigger than America itself. And if they’re not Sonya Blade, they are... non existent. They are there, but they are never really there. Here, let me walk on screen for a couple seconds. Let me sit beside Very Important Male Character (aka Shang Tsung) for a couple of seconds, looking absolutely gorgeous. Let me have a fight scene in which I make choices so f*cking stupid there’s no potential explanation to it. I exist in this movie to make people that love me (this character) to come into theatres in hopes to see some good action and interesting plot.
Now, I wasn’t born yesterday, I know how the world works. It’S bEeN LiKe ThAt FoReVeR, gEt OvEr here iT. Yeah, it’s been like that forever and the result is a mediocre movie that pleases neither the casual viewer, nor the actual Mortal Kombat fan. I don’t know, there might be guys who just saw Kung Lao’s fatality on Nitara, thought to themselves “Neat” and went on with their lives. But I exited the cinema with a sour taste in my mouth, feeling like I’ve watched one of the “fighting genre” films based on video games that had nothing worth remembering. Well, besides Kano. He was my favourite part of this movie and I normally can’t stand the guy :’D
Would it really help if they changed the way the women were portrayed? I mean - is that the ACTUAL problem of the movie? No, women being the eye candy and barely something else (if they’re not Sonya Blade) are not the only problem it suffers from. It’s that MK has been going the same route, retelling the same goddamn story for the millionth time. It’s always THE SAME. The only thing changing is who’s gonna get brutally killed. But - of course - out of the “disposable” character pool. It’s never Sonya (because you need our female lead or else there would be no female characters in the story), who ya know could be killed by Mileena but magically WASN’T. Because Mileena FOR SOME REASON was like: Ya know what? Naaah. Even though Sonya’s from Earthrealm and is actively trying to stop you. If anything, kill her because she annoys you. BUT NAH. It’s never Liu Kang because he’s the Chosen One. But killing Kung Lao is fine, he can die so Liu can awaken or smth. It’s not the main character because how else can you portray THE MAGIC OF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP? Ya, that’s what I thought, don’t even think about it.
You have an amazing universe, filled to the brim with SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL. Let go of the same boring plot line and show us Kombat from another perspective. Change something. F*ck, go all feminist route and make a story center around Mileena dominating the world. Try with different versions of the same story, making it center around different character each time.
SURE, YOU’LL PROBABLY LOSE SOME VIEWERS BUT TIMES ARE CHANGING, AND MOST OF US ARE TIRED TO PAY FOR THE SAME STORY OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Part Two: Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms
Jesus f*cking Christ.
To say this film was rushed is an understatement. While I was watching it, I was like: TF? Everything happens all at once, we have Kuai Liang-Scorpion story line, we have Outworld’s attack, the tournament, not to mention the final fight that should be whole another movie. I felt like no story line was properly laid out, some of the characters died before I got to even know them and the battles were... disappointing. I believe they needed to push this movie out so they squished in everything they had and just went with it.
But, again, this movie just repeats the same things as its live action version. Let me lay it down for you:
Kung Lao dies (because yes)
Sonya Blade lives (because yes)
Jade is just there (more of it later)
disposable characters are disposed of
Liu Kang is badass and always wins
You watch it and feel like you’ve already seen it before. Sure, gore is fine, human Raiden is precious and need to be protected at all costs and adrenaline is pumping (I guess).
BUT NOW.
You know what’s coming.
JADE.
JADE.
My f*cking piece of sunshine, the gorgeous goddess of beauty and kombat, the woman who owns my heart.
She’s there for like not even a minute.
Words can’t describe how f*cking PISSED I am by this portrayal. These motherfrickers put her in EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE SNIPPET OF THIS MOVIE. HER BATTLE WAS IN THE TRAILER, ONE OF THE SNEAK PEEKS WAS A SCENE OF HER AND KITANA.
TURNS OUT EVERYTHING I SAW BEFORE THE MOVIE WAS RELEASED... WAS EVERYTHING I WAS ABOUT TO SEE OF HER!!!!
THEY MADE ME HYPED UP FOR NOTHING!!!!!!
I know I’m not the only one riding this trolley. Li Mei was there just to be killed. Kung Lao had a f*cking single dialogue line and then BAM, fatality, buh-bye. But I was watching everything of this movie, being so enormously happy that I will finally see Jade in the movies, FINALLY! Only for her to be present in a single scene, get her ass kicked by Liu Kang (what’s new) and then she’s never seen again, even when the whole f*cking world is breaking apart.
Again. She’s just there. Ladies and gentlemen, one of the best Shao Kahn’s assassins, gets her ass kicked in fourty seconds. They NEVER let her speak ffs. She just spews some general villanous sh*t and proceeds to step on Johnny. Then, she just goes Observer mode as Kitana “betrays” Shao Kahn, gets tied to the column and then the world is ending.
WHERE THE F*CK IS SHE?!
If you hype me up for her every chance you get, at least GIVE ME what you’re advertising. This is a scam. This is criminal offense. And homophobic. She is more than a revealing outfit and Liu Kang’s punching bag. I’m SO. F*CKING. TIRED. OF THIS. SH*T.
Kitana. The rebellious princess of Outworld... turned damsel in distress in this movie. Her role is so effing bad it hurts me to my core. You see her as a general being so badass and independent... oh right, we need Liu Kang to save her because he needs to maintain his hero look. And we need two kissing scenes. How do we get there? Oh, right, let him save her, because you know - that’s what makes wahmen kiss you.
ARE YOU NUTS?!
The movie started just fine, with Kitana being in charge with her right hand, Jade. Then, obviously, they water her down and soon she is a princess in a tower (in this case, princess on a column) that needs her buffy sexy man to save her. Oh, and she can’t resist him - you know, every normal girl’s reaction to getting untied is to kiss a guy you’ve known for like a few hours but seen before and you’ve talked like three dialogue lines in total. Sure.
Kitana just gets the unfortunate role of a female main character. She’s Liu’s love interest and that makes her take the role of a strong (but surface level, only) woman who still needs her hero to free her. Classic damsel in distress story, with Kitana being the princess, Liu being the Prince charming and Shao Kahn as the dragon (lul). Of course, they try to cover this up by making Kitana a general, letting her win a few fights but it won’t matter in the end. Some say that women want to believe in fairy tales but the more I see fighting games’ lore, the more I say it’s the men who want to believe them.
Is it necessarily bad? No. But it’s boring as fuk.
I would like to ask the directors to stop being so afraid of upsetting the target audience. Target audience can change and sometimes it comes out better than originally planned. My Little Pony was designed as a child’s cartoon but it was the creepy men who made it reach the top. Morally? Questionable at best. But business is booming, right? And that’s what they care for, right?
All I’m trying to say is these days women and gays are the future.
Thank you for today, more to come. I’m going to rant about the Story Mode.

Kismet
Braindumped this yesterday so now you have this fic.
Thanks to @sleeperswakewriting and @anya-grace. They didn't really push me to write this. It's more like 2 people liked the idea and I'm weak for Rivetra so here you go.
Still dedicating this to the two of you for supporting my need for lolo (grandpa) levi + roller skating petra!! 🖤🧡
Pairing: Rivetra | Levi x Petra
Genre: Fluffy romance!!! Tooth-rotting fluff so sweet that I'm gonna write heartbreaking angst next to balance things out.
Summary: The ginger-haired waitress skates over to him, her pink skirt a flurry behind her. She stops beside his table and gives him a disarming smile. "Welcome to Kismet Diner! What will you be having today, sir?"
Okay, so this diner wasn't a shitty choice after all.
Or: 50s Diner Waitress! Petra x Retired Soldier! Levi Modern AU
[Also, if you wanna listen to the songs Levi was forced to listen to in this fic, here's the playlist.]
--
Sweeter than candy on a stick Huckleberry, cherry or lime If you had a choice he'd be your pick But lollipop is mine
If he's going to listen to another most-likely-already-dead-woman belt out a cheery love song, Levi's sure he's going to finally pop a vein. He grumbles as the next track plays, grateful that this one is more on the mellow side so he can actually focus on his work.
Old school music on loop aside, Kismet Diner is actually pretty decent. They serve good food for an establishment that he thinks is trying way too hard to be a blast-from-the-past monstrosity.
Levi found the place by accident when he was out trying to find a place to work. He didn't feel like spending another evening inside his apartment and thought a change in scenery might help him decompress his mind.
Fucking codes just won't write itself, he thinks.
After wheeling himself around his new neighbourhood for a while, he found that this diner was the only thing open. Having no other choice, he found a spot for himself and settled in with his laptop.
He didn't expect that he'll be returning every night though.
(And that he'd be willing to listen to these cheesy retro love songs every time.)
From behind his laptop, he sneaks another glance at the bubbly server.
He distinctly remembers his first night here. A ginger-haired waitress skated over to him, her pink skirt a flurry behind her, as he settles in his chosen seat. She stopped beside his table and gave him a disarming smile. "Welcome to Kismet Diner! What will you be having today, sir?"
Okay, so this diner wasn't a shitty choice after all, he recalls thinking at that time.
It took him a moment or two to finally answer her and she diligently noted down his order. She flashed him one last smile after she promised that she'll bring his food over in five minutes.
He spent those five minutes feeling like a real creep because his eyes never left her.
It's been a few days since then and he watches her now as she picks up the leftovers from the table in front of his. She wishes a customer goodbye, and skates back to the counter.
"Petra! Think you can extend your shift a little bit? Rico called in sick," a voice from the counter calls out.
"Sure! Her shift's until 1 am right?" The ginger, Petra, replies.
And that's how Levi found himself staying at Kismet Diner until 1 am.
- - -
I laughed at love 'cause I thought it was funny You came along and you moved me honey I've changed my mind, this love is fine
"I think the customers like this song but I can't seem to place what the title is..." The rush hour has since lulled when Petra wonders out loud to the other waitress who's still in the kitchen.
He remembers this one. The older guys back in the military would belt it out when they're drunk as fuck on days when they're allowed to have a break. Frankly, it gave him a headache every time and he doesn't know how Erwin and all the other soldiers were able to take Pyxis seriously after his one-man concert.
He speaks up without thinking.
"Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis."
"Yes, that's the title!" Her eyes light up and she fully spins to face him. "You're into oldies music?"
Levi blinks, and for the first time in his life, he found his throat dry because she's finally talking to him fuck fuck fuck what will he say what was the question again.
"Uh... yeah, I guess?"
Wait, what?
She skates over to his table, a wide smile on her face. "That's so cool! I don't meet a lot of people my age who's still into the oldies. Even my dad teases me about it."
"Oh..."
"What's your name? I'm Petra, by the way. But I think you already know that," she grins sheepishly, pointing to her name plate. "I know I shouldn't really be talking to you but you're here every night so I thought it might be great to get to know our regular customers more."
He blinks up to her, trying to get a hold of himself before he fucks this up even more.
"Levi."
"Nice to meet you, Levi." She looks at her wristwatch and her surroundings, probably checking if there are more tables to cater to, before turning back to him. "My shift's over but I think you stay up late here, right? Mind if I sit with you? I haven't eaten dinner yet and I'd appreciate the company."
He gives her a shrug as his approval and she beams another smile before disappearing back to the kitchen. Petra comes back after a few minutes, still in her pink waitress uniform but without the cap and she also changed her skates to normal cream flats. She brought along a small bag and she unpacks it after sitting down at the chair in front of him.
What the hell is happening?
"Don't get me wrong. I love the food here but it's a bit overpriced if you ask me," she says as brings out her lunchbox. "Don't tell Nanaba that though."
"Wouldn't your boss fire you for randomly inviting yourself at a customer's table?"
"Nanaba? We go way back high school. She's the one who's pushing me to take breaks actually."
They sit in silence for awhile after that. Levi watches as she munches on her sandwich while he takes another sip of his coffee. Not knowing what to say, he just turns back to his laptop to type away. Petra, on the other hand, seems like a great conversationalist.
"So... what's your favorite?" She speaks up after having few bites into her dinner.
"Favorite?"
"Song? There's a lot of classics that deserve attention but I'm curious which one caught your attention."
Fuck.
His mind comes up blank until the image of his blonde best friend came to mind. Erwin knows about this old school shit. Not surprising because he's more ancient than Levi is.
What was that song Eyebrows belted out again when they went on that dreaded karaoke night? He recalls Erwin singing something after his cheating long-distance girlfriend finally broke up with him when they were allowed to call their loved ones.
"Mr. Lonely by Bobby Vinton stuck with me." He replies, again without thinking. She laughs out loud the moment the words were out his mouth and Levi frowns in indignation. "Oi, if you're going to laugh at my shitty taste in music then you can get your ass off my table."
"No, no." Petra wipes away a tear from her laughing. "I think it fits your grumpy 'get-off-my-lawn' grandpa vibe. What, someone broke your heart recently?"
"Grumpy grandpa?" Pretty smile and bubbly personality aside, he's starting to think this woman's a bit rude.
- - -
He's still back the next day though.
"Good evening, sir! Will you be having the usual?" Petra greets. He gives her a slight nod before wheeling himself to his spot. He watches as she flurries around during the dinner rush hour, skating from one table to another. She never loses her smile, even when one lady was being a bitch after Petra delivers the wrong milkshake.
Unlike the previous nights where he's content with just sneaking glances at the gorgeous waitress, Levi spends the next few hours gathering the courage to make a move.
Petra stayed in his table until closing time last night and he listened as she babbled on about all their menu offerings and how she likes creating the milkshakes and the coffee the best.
He'd like to think that they're somehow acquainted enough for him to maybe ask her out.
A look a-there, here she comes There comes that girl again Wanted to date her since I don't know when But she don't notice me when I pass
The booming music is only making him nervous, the cheesy lyrics is pissing him off and fuck, he really wants to punch the music player off right now.
Once Petra finally skates over to him though, setting down his usual black coffee and clubhouse sandwich, he takes his chance.
"Are you free tomorrow night?"
"Sir?" She blinks at him and he almost melts as he stares at her huge amber eyes.
"Uhm... you mentioned that you have Fridays off," he starts. "There's this fair that will be opening tomorrow night and I thought you might be into that. First day's the best time to go too while the crowd hasn't shit on the place yet."
The more he hears his words, the more he wants to kick himself with his still working leg.
He notices that a faint blush started to color her cheeks, eyes shifting down before she gives him a shy smile.
"I'd love to go with you, Levi."
- - -
"Wow, you..."
"Were able to hit them all?" He gears up to shoot the last can. "I was in the military."
"No wonder you have that cool scar!"
His eyes darkens a little bit at that, mind taking him back to the career-ending moment that led to where he is now.
Petra seems to notice his reaction. "I'm sorry, I didn't-"
"It's fine. It's been almost a year." He cuts her off. This day's supposed to be fun and he's not allowing his PTSD to take over his chances of charming a girl (which was already low at his current state, he thinks).
"That's amazing, son!" The guy manning the booth approaches him. "Feel free to pick any prize for the lady."
Petra looks down to him for approval, asking if she can pick a prize or if he'd rather pick one since it was him who won after all. He gives her a small smile, gesturing towards the display of prizes.
He watches as Petra buzzes around in excitement, deciding on whether she should get the elephant plushie or this creepy clown plushie that caught her attention for some godforsaken reason. (He pushes her to get the elephant one instead.)
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day When it's cold outside I've got the month of May I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way
"Vanilla is still the best."
"You're boring," she retorts. "How can you only try mint chocolate just once in your life? You get refreshing and sweet dark chocolate at the same time. It's the best combination out there!"
"Yeah, if you like eating your toothpaste," he retorts back.
"Come on, just give it a chance?"
They're settled on a bench right now, his wheelchair parked next to the seat. They take this opportunity to have a conversation while they finish their ice cream.
He learns that she's currently finishing up a nursing degree and that she's working part-time at Kismet Diner to fund her studies. She has an obsession with mint chocolate ice cream, and that she truly loves skating outside of work because she also does roller derby on the weekends (with her boss Nanaba and another girl named Nifa). She's an only child and her dad currently lives in the countryside.
Levi tells her a little bit about himself too and he's glad that she respects his reserved nature. He doesn't tell her about his time in the military, only that he used to be a captain for a few years before he left. He also shared that he used to pursue a degree in Computer Science before dropping out halfway through to join the military. Since he left, his unfinished degree has been useful since he was able to find consistent freelance opportunities as a web developer.
That seems like the perfect job for someone who's anti-social as you, she notes and he gives her an unamused look.
He also finds out that he's actually ten years older than her, and he feels even more like an old man at that moment.
"Hey, I like your grumpy grandpa vibe," she teases him.
"You'd get along with Gabi and Falco."
"Who? Are they your kids?" Her eyes lights up when she takes note of his fond tone before it starts to narrow in suspicion. "You're not married are you?"
"What? Hell no. My hair would probably be gray now if they were." He says. "They're my neighbours. Both... what? 13 I think? They wouldn't stop pestering me since I moved into the complex a few months ago. Those two brats also won't stop calling me grandpa. Do I really look that old?"
"I'd say it's because of the wheelchair but it's actually your scowl that completes the look," she replies with a cheeky smile.
When they're done with their ice cream, Petra rolls him around while he holds on to her big-ass elephant plushie for her. He'd know she's excited about a booth in particular when he feels his wheelchair move faster towards their destination.
Throughout the night, she won them a bag of lollipops once and Petra insists he takes them home to Gabi and Falco. He, on the other hand, was surprised that his military background would be useful for something as useless as carnival games. His fast reflexes and sharp eye bagged them a few more wins, with the last game earning them a free popcorn.
- - -
Before they capped off the night, Petra (the retro lover that she is) led him to a nearby jazz club that she visited once. She insisted that it's on the way home so why not drop by? The atmosphere is more chill than Levi expected so at least he didn't have to listen to another upbeat bubblegum retro track.
"Come dance with me?" She says after a moment of watching the couples on the small dance floor.
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm on a wheelchair for a reason."
"We can work around it." Ever the optimist, she leans down to try and help him stand up. "Lean yourself on me. I'll support you throughout."
Levi obliges, placing all of his weight on his working left leg while trusting the rest to Petra. He has his arms around and he tries to start moving with her.
He almost slips as he takes another step and in frustration, he attempts to sit down instead. "It's no use Petra-"
Petra's hold on him tightened. "Just trust me a little more Levi."
He sighs, attempting to stand again. They do find the right balance and rhythm on the second try and Levi breathes out in relief.
Soon, they're swaying to the music and Levi couldn't remember the last time he was upright like this, except for when he has to drag himself around with his crutch in the mornings.
Put your lips next to mine, dear Won't you kiss me once, baby? Just a kiss goodnight, maybe You and I will fall in love
"Petra?"
"Hmm?"
"I'm not really into oldies music."
"I know. I realized that when you only kept mentioning the famous hits."
"Huh."
"I actually cringed when you said you liked Mr. Lonely."
"Shut up." She giggles at that and they finally sway in companionable silence, taking in the slow beat.
When the music stops, Petra reaches up to him, placing a kiss on his cheek. He feels his face warm up, throat bobbing as he stares dumbly at her.
"Thanks for tonight, Levi." - - -
Levi goes back to Kismet Diner the next day, and the day after that. He's there every night and she's always the one who takes and serves his order.
He'd accompany her as she eats her late-night dinner on his table and he sometimes brings her some cookies he baked that morning. Nanaba would throw Petra a smirk here and there whenever she serves his table or when Petra clocks off to have dinner with him.
"Your captain's here," he once heard the taller woman whisper to Petra once the door closes to signal his entrance.
Levi would order the same black coffee and clubhouse combination that Petra eventually offered him to try other things on the menu. "Come on, it's on the house! Why can't you just try other options?"
Love me tender, love me sweet Never let me go You have made my life complete And I love you so
One morning three months into getting to know each other, Levi wakes up feeling contentment wash over him when he smells that she's brewing his usual order from his own apartment kitchen.
Petra enters his room beaming a few minutes later, black coffee and a plate of pancakes in each hand. He distinctly notes that she's playing her retro love songs on loud speaker again and he's long since given up on stopping her.
She leans down to place his breakfast on the side table and she starts peppering kisses from his scarred cheek up to the affected blind eye.
"Good morning Levi!" He wholeheartedly accepts both the breakfast and the kisses, hooking his arm around her waist and cuddling closer to her as he sits up in bed.
He takes her in and finds that he slightly misses the pink uniform and roller skates she dons while she serves him at the diner... but he won't deny that he definitely prefers seeing her draped in nothing but his slightly oversized white shirt instead. "Morning."
