Rare But Not So Rare Sonic Moments

Sonic Swooning Over Amy

So, Sonic’s been kind of the driving force of Sonamy recently. Let’s analyze that.

I’ll show Sonic having feelings for Amy in almost every media aside from Fleetway and the two cartoons she isn’t in. I’ll also present the “whys” in more detail then just “Amy calmed down.” While that’s part of it, I’d like to add my own can of worms. And possible headcanons too. Bear in mind I never grew up with Sonic, so forgive my mixed opinions.

While I love Amy having a crush on Sonic like the energetic sugarplum she is, nowadays Sonic’s oddly been the drive of their dynamic. Any examples of it beforehand? Let’s look outside of the games first.

Sonic X

This Sonic takes more time to himself. He’s introverted, so his feelings for her isn’t displayed as obviously as the others. In fact, most people think he didn’t like her in this show because of how much he runs away. He even manipulated her by flirting in one episode. In my opinion this show has Sonic running away from Amy more often than not. Hot take: Sonic and Amy never had a real conversation either. They don’t…talk like they do now. Unless you count,

“Oh, Sonic I love you!” “Ah! C’mon, Amy. Knock it off!” No, it wasn’t constant but still common.

From my point of view, the conversations were short lived to none existent. It was the same in the earlier games too. Compared to how they talked to other characters or now, you might be able to notice. At least until Sonic And The Black Night were he talks to both The Lady Of The Lake and Amy. The two would also have visual gags of Sonic getting aggressively hugged by Amy. Or Amy falling on her face while trying. Aside from one moment in Sonic Riders where Sonic put Amy in danger, it wasn’t good or bad. Just cartoony for lack of a better term.

Maybe I’m just insane. You decided.

Anyhow, their dynamic in X is clearly built on actions. Like Amy giving Sonic a seashell bracelet and Sonic giving her a rose. Those little things. While I do prefer them being able to hold longer conversations, I don’t mind how X handles them. But let’s get to Sonic’s crush. I assume in Sonic X Sonic is conflicted. He’ll run away from Amy or try to pull from her on most occasions and others Sonic would constantly hold onto her when he doesn’t have to. For a long period on time no less. Amy’s the same way. One moment she’d be head over heels and other she’s bashful. Goes to show how young they were I guess. I have no clue as to why Sonic liked her back because there wasn’t much to go off of. Except the bracelet moment or her general kindness like feeding him one time. She was a bit much to him and most characters back then.

It’s possible Sonic just liked her and that was it, but I’d imagine due to all of the hand holding and small reciprocated gestures were enough to convey something was there. Straight forward and simple like the show itself. I headcanon this Sonamy being where the boyfriend gets dragged into a relationship and is fine with it. This version of Sonic’s attraction seems to be chaotic pink hedgehogs apparently.

Sonic Boom

Should I even explain it? Might as well because not only do I have something different to say, but these two haven’t been brought up much. Sonic and Amy’s romance mostly is played for laughs. Not saying their love for each other means less because of that, but the humor is the main reason they exist. Much like why in the main canon they started out the way they did. Regardless, I’ll dive deeper into Boom!Sonic’s affection for Amy to the best of my ability.

Boom!Sonic is egotistical, so whenever he thinks Amy’s crushing on someone else, it bothers him. Apparently he’s the only one she’s allowed to like. No “Radical Speedsters” or “Celebrities” can take her attention away from him. Like in Sonic X he tries to keep his crush to a minimum. Even though both him and Amy are terrible at it.

The moment in “Fortress Of Squalitude” a episode where everyone is a bit rude to Amy, close to the end Sonic says, “We may have a hard time saying it Amy. But…well you know.” Then she responds with, “Yeah, I know.” It’s such a sweet moment. Not as powerful as most moments with them but for Boom it’s very nice. Sonic and the others still value her as part of the team, but it’s Sonic who expresses it out loud. Goes to show how much he cares about her for even attempting to open up in this instance. Didn’t even have to finish the sentence. Amy understood perfectly. I also noticed how much he tries his best to impress her. When he needs to returned her book back, finds her hammer in Archie, (Vector did it in the show and Sonic got jealous) shows off randomly or dreams about her, and stopped racing to get her some eggs in one episode.

The funny thing about this Sonic is how much of a people pleaser he can be. Especially since the towns people are very spoiled and ungrateful. He wants to be needed and that’s possibly why he goes out of his way to do special things for Amy like go out on picnics, implied dates, and comforts her. She’s very take charge in Boom and Sonic has no problem calling her out when he needs to. Much like Amy in the show and games. Sonic will even put effort into doing things he doesn’t feel like doing for her. How honorable of him. Sure, sometimes he tries to make her jealous and isn’t perfect, but he tries. I believe Sonic likes Amy because again like Sonic X Boom isn’t canon, so more outright reciprocated feelings are allowed in this case. Not to mention the dude likes being shipped with her in the show. Which is a win in my book.

Sonic enjoys bugging Amy much like a playful boyfriend. He probably admires her leadership, but I’m saying this by observation. It could be for anything. Maybe he thinks she’s cute when she’s mad and finds her temper amusing. It could also be for her stubbornness. Some people like each other because of how much they can relate to their partner and in Sonic Boom’s case they’re two cuts of the same cloth. Although still different, due to the show’s theme, they carry the same condescending, slightly self centered, hotheaded, stubborn, and humorous traits. But they’re still good hedgehogs with a heart of gold and usually makes reasonable decisions. Not to mention they’re both equally shy about their crushes. In Sonic Boom, Sonic and Amy is that married couple who doesn’t get along much, but when they do you’ll understand why they stay together.

Reboot Archie Sonic

I haven’t read the comics (unless you count watching a few dubs and internet reviews) but I’ll give my limited thoughts. Luckily there’s not much to say. Although most people believe it was unintentional, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch that someone from Archie thought it was a fun idea to have Sonic crush on somone in this reboot. Maybe it’s unintentional but it doesn’t seem that way.

I’m basically using this part of the post to ramble about how Reboot Archie’s Sonic still manages to be a casanova. He’s like a mixture of his old self and how he is in the games. That’s also why he acts the way he does around Amy. Could it also possibly mean he’s meant to like her canonically too? Reboot Archie did have to follow a more accurate way of writing Sonic after all. Anyways, let’s run down the list of Game!Sonic if he was allowed to be down bad for Amy like they’re already dating. Which is how I view this continuity. It’s basically if Boom and X had a weird fusion and this version of Sonic’s crush was the result. Except here he manages to be more bold and upfront. He knows what he’s doing. Here’s a run down.

First of all, THIS. No joke, more of these interactions would send me to the moon. I would explain why but the panel speaks for itself.

Sonic says, “I was worried about you.” Which he hasn’t admitted to her before this to my knowledge. He states this by giving her a side hug. Along with other out of nowhere physical affection and flirting. Not to single out Sonally fans. Sonic and Sally clearly have a close connection people appreciate and I respect that. In any case, Sonic and Amy in Reboot Archie also matches energies so much. They’re both clearly running off the same brain cell. You’d think they were together. They’d be a chaotic couple that’ll do the most outlandish things and somehow manage to survive them. After willfully risking their lives they’d do it again because being normal and safe is boring. I promise you, this version of Sonamy would be a huge force to be reckoned with.

-I’d also like to mention my friend Salty showed an example of Sonic being jealous of Knuckles coming with Amy on a mission and it’s brilliant. Dude gets all bratty about it too. Archie!Sonic does not play around. The post in question.

Sonic Prime

Already talked about this in another post, but I want to mention it again. Prime!Sonic is the most sensitive version of the character, so it’s no surprise he displays his admiration for Amy freely and out loud.

This moment says enough on its own. Sonic’s like this throughout the entirety of Prime and even changes the tone of his voice when speaking to or about her. It’s so authentic and adorable and makes him stand out against other variants.

Amy’s crush on Sonic in Prime is up to interpretation, but I don’t think she likes him in that way personally. Like other characters, Amy tends to be done with Sonic’s childishness. Guess she thinks he’s probably too immature to be boyfriend material whether she has feelings or not. Sonic on the other hand, acts how you wouldn’t expect. I personally see him as his own interpretation, so I’m fine with it. If he wants to have goo-goo eyes for Amy in Prime, it’s cool.

Prime!Sonic has it bad and I wouldn’t be shocked if he’d be the one wanting to go out on dates. Maybe he’d cook dinner for her sense he cooks in the show. I’d imagine Amy declining at first, but does it after his constant begging. They’d be swapped version of most emotional to least emotional. Prime!Amy would be a girlfriend who feels more like a parent than a partner.

Unleashed/Black Night

No one can bring up Sonic Unleashed without the lovely Amy meeting the Werehog scene. I love how Sonic didn’t like Amy hugging him, but right after she left he solemnly mopes around for probably the first and last time. He’s never in any game slowly moped around disappointedly before. Proving he only has certain reactions when it comes to Amy Rose. At least in some continuities. Unleashed gives you a choice to go on a date with Amy or not. Then the next game Sonic Team followed through with it, but ended up having Amy mad at Sonic for missing it. At least Sonic tried. Not to mention his reaction to The Lady Of The Lake and him flirting is fun to watch.

See how Sonic still likes her back but it isn’t because she’s “calmed down?” She’s still the same excitable love strucked Amy. There must be something more to it. Other than the obvious answer with Sonic Team wanting to do something with the pear. I have no idea why but having multiple hints even in the past must’ve been done for the fun of it. “We created this love interest but then railed back to Sonic not reciprocating her feeling. But we still want to market them as a couple in some way.” This franchise never cease to confuse me.

Amy encouraging Sonic in one of the cutscenes could’ve been where he started liking her back. Not in the way he does now, but he admired her none stop compassion and might’ve wanted to return the favor. “Eh, she’s sweet. Maybe a date won’t be so bad.” The fact he went out of his way to get her a chilidog and flirted with a different version of her should tell you enough. Of course it would take a while before anything else happened. 

IDW/Sonic Frontiers

Yeah, after issue 2, Sonic’s never felt the need to run from Amy. From the comics to Sonic Frontiers there’s a lot of moments of Sonic being somewhat emotionally candid. Not by much, but close. I believe Amy’s the reason for that in a way. Sonic’s not afraid to hang out with her anymore. He even hugs her back on some occasions. “Ames” was a nickname from fanfics and Boom which became canon over time and he occasionally calls her that.

Sonic wishes to share an umbrella and spend more time with her. He also gets excited to see her more often. It’s like Reboot Archie but slightly toned down. At least up until the hard to trigger lines from Sonic Frontiers. The same game where he outright admits to being worried about Amy and smiles back at her with a Coco looking between the two. Then he supports Amy’s decision to leave etc. We all know where we are now.

Crazy how the more you look into this franchise the more tiny details you notice. It’s also crazy how much Sonic’s been into the love interest he originally was already supposed to love. To me, Sonic had a crush on Amy in Unleashed but fell in love with her in IDW. What makes Sonamy gripping though is how unique it is compared to most romantic relationships. Leaves it to be more entertaining whenever something unexpected happenes. It keeps you engaged.

Why Sonic Crushes On Amy?

1. Amy doesn’t want to slow him down. Obviously because of IDW issue 2’s love confession with Amy saying “I can’t change you. I don’t want to change you.” Amy joins Sonic and he includes her more often because of that. His speed is no match for her persistence anyways.

2. She shows compassion and love for those around her. Not just to Sonic, but everyone. She’s the definition of soft hearted. Even for people Sonic and his friends would be weary about. Think about now in the recent comics and games where Sonic’s trying it out. I do think it should be more of Amy’s thing then Sonic’s but it just goes to show how much she probably inspired him. Who knows? Even in the past he had respect Amy for her tenderheartedness.

3. Amy’s energy matches Sonic’s. Though sometimes she can be overly enthusiastic compared to him. Even before now, Amy’s always been adventurous and that’s probably something Sonic liked from the start. Not in a romantic way, but in a respectful way. If he were to have a partner he’d need someone to keep him grounded and be on the same level. No exceptions.

4. Her loyalty. No matter what Sonic does (including times she disagrees) she’s one of Sonic’s most loyalist companions. Obviously other characters are too, but Amy has her being a long time childhood friend/Sonic 06 and Unleashed going for her. 06 for trusting Sonic over Silver and Unleashed for still loving Sonic despite his transformation. Heck, before she knew who the Werehog was she wasn’t disgusted. Amy’s commendable for that.

From all these points here physical attraction isn’t included. What I like about both characters is their crushes don’t stem to how they look. Though it is worth mentioning Sonic has called Amy “Radiant” in TMOSTH, but that’s probably the closest we’ll ever get to an outright physical compliment. From Sonic at least.

- Side note thanks to @saltynsassy31 again, Sonic and Amy’s dynamic can be summed up as not a relationship but rather a situationship. Yes, it’s a real word. What does it mean? Basically two friends who has crushes on each other but doesn’t do anything about it. Just a fun detail for you guys.

Why Did Sonic Run From Amy In The Past?

I’ll make this quick, but the reason Sonic ran from Amy wasn’t because he didn’t like her. On the contrary. Sonic always could’ve ran at his normal speed to get away from her. Sonic’s the fastest thing alive. Why would he let someone he “didn’t like” catch up to him? I personally think he enjoyed the thrill of the chase. It’s why I believe he misses it nowadays. Though I do understand Sonic didn’t often treat Amy like a friend. Not in a way I can understand at least. Not that I think their relationship was bad, but from what I’ve seen, it was more told then shown due to Sonic and the gang not including her on missions. Amy normally had to catch up with them which was a running gag. Especially in SA2. It might be why some prefere her in stuff like Reboot Archie, Boom, IDW, and Frontiers. Because Amy’s friends includes her on adventures now. At least in my opinion. Correct me if I missed anything.

Final Headcanon

Since Sonic in the games has been the one to push the Sonic side of Sonamy much more then Amy does for herself, I’d like to think in most cases (especially as their dynamic grows) Sonic would start carrying other versions of him traits like trying to mess with her.

He’d want to get her to chase him more often and Amy would probably ask once or twice, “What’s going on and why are you acting weird?” He’d definitely play it off as him fooling around. Sonic doesn’t know much about romance, but he does know what Amy likes. Maybe he’d ask her out or go on a bunch of traveling missions. Anything to get her to pay attention to him again. After all, there’s been examples of the guy feeling ignored by her in and out of canon. It’s possible.

-There’s also a consistent detail where Sonic’s finally ready to open up but has to deal with Amy doing her own thing. Or when he’s face with different variants of her, he’s flirtatious with them. For the fastest thing alive, he has terrible timing when it comes to making his mind up.

Conclusion

Welp, there you have it, darlings. Examples of Sonic crushing on Amy more than some would think. It’s a Sonic character analysis and Sonamy post all in one. I know there’s more, but I think this gathers examples from the actual content.

Am I making a random Sonamy hc up on the spot to cheer up the Queen(tm) of Sonamy? Yes. Yes I am.

Ahem, without further ado:

Sonic is one of those men who hears you like something once and proceeds to gift you this exact thing over and over again. It’s not slackness or anything of the sorts, if anything, it his way of showing he listens to you. Thing is, he doesn’t realise it’s not always practical or nice when in the long run.

For Tails was gifting him the newest comic book of some series he really liked. Every single month Sonic bought the new edition when it hit the shelves. (While Tails no longer likes the series, he cherishes every single one he has.)

For Knuckles it was some weirdly flavoured protein shake, which was a misunderstanding honestly. Knuckles had loudly proclaimed he “liked this drink” after the first sip and before the weird aftertaste kicked in. Our favourite speedster did not realise this however and continued to buy the same drink over and over again, while Knuckles just drank it over and over again, not realising he could just tell Sonic he didn’t like it.

And Amy. For Amy it was something a little different. While adventuring with Sonic once Amy had absentmindedly mentioned she really liked the exotic plants in that area because they were nothing like the ones at home and had taken a little cutting to try and grow it in her home. Now ever since that day, Sonic brings a back a little cutting for Amy whenever she is unable to adventure with him. Problem is, he does not know anything about plants, resulting in Amy accidentally growing some sort of flesh-eating plant in her living room… multiple times. *Que a sonic boom montage of the gang fighting flesh-eating plants*. Let’s just say Sonic is now only allowed to pick flowers.

I don't really ship him with anyone, no. But ima give you my thought process:

I know Sonamy is technically the canon one, but that's straight, which means it's boring. Sonic has never really showed he's interested in her and quite often rejects her affection. And I know the creator said something along the lines of "He's just scared of his feelings and didn't wanna confess", but you'd think he would make ANY indication on if he loved her. I think they had something going on in Sonic Boom, but that's not canon

Sonadow is a ship that's canonly disliked by the characters, as shown in 1 or more Twitter Takeover Livestreams. Despite this, Sonadow is pretty much the only ship I see on Tumblr, so exposure to it has made me like it more than Sonamy, but I wouldn't say I ship it

Sonally was a thing in the early stages of the Sonic franchise, and it's canon in the comics that they get married and have a family, but since she was pretty much replaced by Amy and thrown to the back-burner, I feel like that ship has been nearly forgotten about

Now for the Tails headcanon:

You're really gonna sit there and tell me Tails DOESN'T know how to crochet? He absolutely makes beanies for all his friends that match their colour scheme/vibe. Sonic gets a blue and red striped one, Knuckles gets a red and white striped one, Amy gets a pink one with red hearts, and so on and so forth. He also adds little custom details on the hats. Sonic's has long, braided ropes on the bottom of his so he can fidget with them, Knuckles' has a big light green pom-pom at the top, Amy's is entirely pink with red hearts embroidered on it, Cream's has giant floppy bunny ears, etc.

He also made Eggman one for christmas that has tiny little sprites of all the members of Sonic's crew embroidered on the rim of the beanie. Eggman, although hating Sonic and friends, loves the hat and wears it every winter do his bald head is protected against the cold

I was just rewatching parts of the four-parter of Sonic Boom, "Robots From the Sky," originally for the Sonamy content 😂 (since that has some of the biggest evidences for them secretly dating in that show, but that's for another post)

But then I noticed something a little odd.

In the fourth part, Sonic is weirdly...quiet.

I'll just say real quick I'm a big fan of the headcanon that Sonic used to be mute, and is still selectively mute, all depending on the day and the situation and whatnot. I think it adds depth to his character and another side that'd be fascinating to see in canon (and I always latch onto fanworks that portray such). But besides there being the obvious thing about Classic Sonic being completely mute, and Sonic X Sonic being quiet most of the time, and stuff like that, I didn't expect to find anything for it in Boom, of all things.

(to be clear, that wasn't an insulting comment. I adore Boom. It's sorta my comfort show. XD)

ANYWAY, the point of this post! In the fourth and final episode of the miniseries, even though he started out the episode talking as usual, Sonic went weirdly silent starting shortly after the rest of his friends arrived. There was the silly, rather flirtatious scene he had with Amy, they all tried (and failed) to fight, Sonic instructed Tails to take the others and fall back while he went and got the robot guy (I forgot his name). That command he gave Tails was the last real thing he actually said for the next five minutes of the episode (these are ten minute eps remember, so that's more than it sounds, and definitely way more than five minutes happened in the real timespan of the episode). He said a couple things at the very end, but spoke no real words in the conversations and battles (other than yelling "ow" that one time 😂).

Like?? Boom!Sonic isn't necessarily as talkative as Movie!Sonic or Prime!Sonic, but he doesn't often come across as "quiet," either. But...???

Like, several times in that period (which must've been hours, since the robot guy built a bunch of robot duplicates of them during that time) he was the only character who stayed quiet the whole time. He was paying attention to what was happening, but I kept expecting him to contribute or just say SOMETHING, and he just wouldn't. Not even when Tails said something to him. Several times someone gave him some type of instruction and he just nodded, without so much as a hum. He just stood there. His robot duplicate said something a couple times (or maybe just once, idk, but still).

I might be reading too much into it, but the thought was just interesting to me. I was trying to think of why he might've gone silent for that time, in context of the situation, and thought either maybe it was because it was a truly more serious situation, or maybe because he was actually hurt? And his being silent was the only tell that something was off? IDK!! Selective mutism, especially with Sonic, is very interesting to me. 😅

Shadow, easy. Sonic and Eggman too... and Amy... and Tails... yeah pretty much everyone... but poor Shadow is the unfortunate victim of being hugely popular and hugely misunderstood due to inane takes that spread like wildfire.

Shadow is not an edgy boy (okay his game pushes it). Shadow is not a poow widdle blorbo who only needs to cry. Shadow did not suffer like a dog on the ARK. Shadow is not "Vegeta". Shadow does not monologue about who he is and what he thinks (neither does Sonic btw, coughcoughidwcough). There should be a law that you cannot analyze Shadow's character if you haven't at least read his script in Sonic Battle.

Sonadow, one of the main reasons it annoys me so much. Although some Sonamy fans push it, and I like that ship.

Well, I used to dislike Shadow precisely due to his popularity, but nowadays I've warmed up to the guy. He's cool. Just... I don't get the hype.

I guess Surge is a better example. She's very annoying in canon, but what really ruins her is the amount of adoration she garnered. Y'all like her simply for the aesthetic, I checked, because she has a pitiful amount of fanfictions that actual star her as a character. (one of them is mine, and I don't even like her. Just sayin'.)

Oh, and I will never be objective about Sage. Sorry. She's bland and on her own inoffensive, but her association with Eggdad ruined her for me.

Again, I can't choose. This fandom has just... so many Takes. I guess I'll go with "Shadow was turned into Vegeta", which is... factually untrue, outside of the Boom series.

Can't choose, honestly. Maybe splitting Classic Sonic into a different character, instead of simply keeping him an older design for Sonic. Boy, the discourse that it caused...

Hmm. To be fair I mostly like popular characters. I'd say that now I like Elise much more than I used to, but then again she's becoming more popular. So... Infinite, maybe? I like the dude, he's both cool and pathetic and I have no idea how he manages to do that. Sick theme too. And he's voiced by Liam O'Brien and his horniness for violence shows :'D

And you know what? Zor. Zor is the funniest of the Deadly Six. He's self aware and that elevates him. Y'all are too mean to the Deadly Six in general, but Zor is the one who deserves it less.

I swear that that story is completely useless, nothing happens except getting beaten over the face with pointless references and Ian Flynn self-sucking over how better he is than Pontaff, no I'm still not over "then I'm wildly inconsistent" :') and while '06's story is better because at least shit happens (until the game erases itself from existence), it's still a dull, boring, confusing mess to sit through, especially in English because they all sound bored out of their skull.

Headcanon: So many years in the future, no one ever knows if Sonic someday will be in a relationship with someone or if he is gonna be single forever. But one day, after a battle, Sonic got really hurt and the only one who can recive information about his state is a familiar... everyone knows he has no one more than his friends, but then Amy apears and say: “I’m his wife”.

Nobody belives her, they guess she is acting like her older self and they tell her she shouldn’t act like that again. 

What they didn´t know is that Sonic actually married her, so many years ago. They just liked keep their relationship as a secret... a very big secret... until that day

No joke, that’s one of my all-time favorite moments from Sonic Boom.

Imagine realizing one of your best friends, and the person you pretty much built an entire life with (in your mind), goes and supposedly say some nasty things about you. Yeah, an 11-minute kids cartoon won’t elaborate on that and it plays it more for the laughs and some ship-teasing, but that little spark of conflict is something that really goes right up on my SonAmy angst alley.

I cannot express enough how on point Cindy’s delivery throughout the entire sequence has always been (that “why am I even here?” is wonderful), in addition to Roger’s stuttery Sonic reactions and that beautiful “So now you're gonna trust some bucket of bolts over me?” (agh! That kinda stuff feels so nice to hear!) line. Bingo! 

I feel like any other iteration of Sonic wouldn’t feel the need to prove UT wrong so hard as Boom!Sonic did, because something like Adventure!Sonic (or even Archie!Sonic, ugh) would’ve defused the entire situation in his most nonchalant, “You know who I am, and I’m still your hero at the end of the day”, kinda way. But Boom!Sonic doesn’t just want to be Amy’s hero, he wants her to trust him there’s something more, he wants to say something to her, that something that keeps the ship teasing alive and would spoil the fun should he actually find the words to express it (even though the entire fandom, shippers and non-shippers alike, would turn on their heads should Sonic ask Amy out, at least speaking in short-term). Also, this whole scene sets up another favorite scene of mine, the one later in S1 with Eggman teasing Sonic he’s not gonna win “that couch for that whiny little girlfriend of yours”. Amy may have come across as whiny in episode 3, but I felt it was well-deserved for her to react in such a volatile way, you can’t mess with Amy Rose’s life plans so easily.

Sonic Boom’s 5th anniversary has filled me with some of the best memories I have from this decade.

On a final note, this episode always left my imagination running wild since 2014. 

I always had this little Boom one-shot in mind of Sonic and Amy arguing so hard they actually can’t go back and be friends again, causing Eggman (who was watching the entire thing, of course) to fire a barrage of rockets in frustration from his lair to Sonic’s shack, completely wipping it out, and forcing him to stay at Amy’s place meanwhile Tails and Knuckles try to help him rebuild it (Tails also kinda cuts Sonic off of staying at his place on purpose, putting excuses like his house was a mess or he had to lock the place down for the night because he had to go to the cinema with Zooey). This set up leads to Sonic and Amy trying to talk things out that same night, but at first they fail to reach a middle ground for both, so she frustratingly goes to sleep while Sonic stays up watching TV. By the climax, Sonic falls asleep on Amy’s couch and Amy can’t quite find sleep. Amy feels that she may not have been fair to him, she gets up, walks up to Sonic, tries to cover him a little bit, he wakes up, they use the moment to talk seriously again, reach some consensus and fall asleep together while watching TV (cuddling, maybe? hee hee!). Next morning, they wake up together with the entire village watching them from the window. Sonic’s shack has been restored, but their secret is out now!

My Sonic Headcanons

1. In Sonic Boom, Sonic wears a scarf/bandana/neckerchief/whatever to hide the hickeys that Amy gives him.

2. Amy reads/writes Sonadow fanfiction, while Eggman does the same with SonAmy. They both are competitive when it comes to the amount of readers and followers they earn. Once Sonic and Amy confess their feelings, Eggman texts “You lost biXch” to Amy. 

Eggman has not been seen for the past few weeks-

3. Sonic and Knuckles compete to see how many kids they’re able to make (as long as Amy and Rouge allow them to) and Shadow ends up winning with ten kids in one shot.

4. Cream originally wanted to name her kids around the lines of: Cracker, Chocolate, Sugar, or Bagel, but ended up naming them something like Violet, Skye, Sugar, and Mabel. She has them with Tails.

5. Rouge is being a two-timer. She is official with Knuckles, but is secretly with Shadow as well. This type of love is called Ludus. (I ship them all hehehehe)

6. Sonic is a huge pervert, and has watched Amy change without her knowing-

7. Amy IS RELATED TO SILVER AND SHADOW SOMEHOW HUEHUHEHUEHUE

More Future Sonic Headcanons

-Oldest to youngest: T.K., Kelly, Saida, Ember, Sora, Serena, Trent, Nico and Geo.

-Silver realizes that no matter what he did, his future would never be completely restored. This epiphany was reached when he discovered Blaze was pregnant with their first child. Silver wasn’t going to allow Blaze or their new baby to go through what he did, so him and Blaze decide to live in the past (or the Sol Kingdom, though I honestly doubt things would be much better over there). A few months later, Ember was born.

-Trent and Serena both begin to crush on each other during their adolescence, but neither of them has the courage to ask the other out.

-T.K. and Ember, on the other hand, straight up hate each other. T.K.’s arrogance gets on Ember’s nerves, while T.K. accuses her of being stuck up. The two can’t even be in the same room without trying to kill one another.

-In the first timeline, Shadow isn’t around much due to his work. He tries to make it up to Saida by putting aside set dates where they train/shoot/etc. Basically just general father/daughter bonding. In the renewed future timeline, Shadow can be seen at home more often while also keeping his profession.

-Due to his experiences with time travel, Silver’s wary of others trying to study it and/or change certain events.

-Even though they aren’t related, Knuckles’ kids like to refer to two certain Mobians as “Uncle Vector” and “Aunt Rouge.”

-Sometimes, Rouge likes to take Kelly out on Girl’s Days, mainly just for the two of them. Even though Kari likes Rouge, she can’t help but feel like she’s an inferior mother compared to her.

-Vector still has his eyes on the money, but he’s grown smarter about the subject too. Along with his day job as a detective, he is also a DJ on the side for parties, birthdays, weddings, you name it.

-Rouge is the first person to snap some sense into Vector (and succeed) about his unrequited feelings for Vanilla, being aware of the feeling all too well herself.

-The gang often teases Vector and Rouge on whether or not they’ll get together.

-Blaze’s parents don’t necessarily approve of her relationship with Silver, but they understand that they have no real say in the matter. Blaze’s mother often sends the family gifts from Sol.

=First words:

“No!!!” -Ember, and T.K.

“Daddy/Mommy” - Trent, Saida, Serena, Kelly, Sora.

“Cookie” - Nico and Geo.

And, promptly, Amy and Kari would say “(X)!!! Get the camera!!!”=

-While Amy records milestones, Kari will record basically anything (even the most mundane task). It took some convincing on Knuckles’ end to tone it down an edge.

Okay, time for a hot take.

Boom "Sonadow,” SPECIFICALLY the Boom versions, is an atrocious ship.

Modern Shadow at least has some moments of getting along with Sonic. Boom Shadow is all the bad parts of Modern Shadow and none of the good parts of Real Shadow (pre-06) that make Shasoni a good ship.

All Boom Shadow has ever done is physically beat and verbally insult Sonic. All of Sonic and Shadow’s interactions in Boom are abusive. But unlike Modern Shadow, Boom Shadow doesn’t have any reason for his behavior.

Modern Shadow at least still has Maria and GUN to give a backstory for the way he is. Boom Shadow has no backstory at all, none of the hidden depths. He’s just a jerkass who randomly shows up to abuse Sonic and his friends.

Shadow was only put in Boom in the first place because the fandom demanded that he be. And it shows. The team making Boom didn’t even LOOK at the original Shadow’s backstory, they just saw “edgy rival, Ultimate Life Form” and shoved a thinly-outlined caricature of the guy into the game and show, not even bothering to explain where the “Ultimate Life Form” title came from, and with the worst voice acting of any Sonic character in history.

A big contribution to why Modern Shadow is so poorly written, because Sega for whatever reason decided that the flanderized personalities in Boom should be the characters’ canon personalities forever and ever. Even as the other characters begin to be written better, they retain an iron grip on Shadow.

But Modern Shadow at least has moments of reason and compassion. Moments that make us actually care for him as one of the good guys.

Boom Shadow is just an asshole who hates everyone, especially Sonic, to the point where HE’S WILLING TO DESTROY THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE TO GET RID OF HIM, and yet for some reason people still insist that behind that he secretly loves Sonic... and Sonic loves him back... just because you ship their FAR more compatible Modern selves so their Boom selves must be the same?

I don’t usually bring up preboot Archie, but that’s like the toxic Sonamy shippers shipping Scourge with Rosy instead of Fiona, not because it’s a better ship, but just because Rosy is Scourge’s version of Amy, and they can’t possibly imagine an alternate Sonic being with anyone else. From what little I’ve seen of her, Rosy is the most badly written version of Amy... but 1000x WORSE, EXPLICITLY yandere, and would probably keep Scourge tied up in her basement.

I am not insulting Modern/Real Shasoni. It’s not one of my OTPs, but it’s pretty cute. But the Boom versions... do not work.

I don’t care about the fanfics out there, Shasoni or not, giving Boom Shadow a backstory and sympathy. The Shadow in those fanfics is not Boom Shadow. He has depth. Canon Boom Shadow does not have depth. He only has abuse.

One exception I will make is a hilarious headcanon I discovered on Discord that actually makes a lot of sense: “Boom Sonic and Shadow are exes.” This actually explains a lot of their spite for each other. But I will not adapt this headcanon as “they will eventually make up and find their way back together.” I see it as “Shadow was the abusive boyfriend that Sonic had to let go of, and Sonic will eventually find a happy relationship with Knuckles or Amy that he can rub in Shadow’s face til the day that edgy fucker dies, alone and unloved.”

Yes, he dies. He’s not immortal like Modern/Real Shadow. Nothing and nobody in Boom canon says he is, even if the Sonic wiki does. Nothing even says he’s the Ultimate Life Form. It’s just a title that he randomly has. It was never explained. And it never will be explained, now that Sega has decided to exile Boom from existence.

I will say it again: There is nothing wrong with the Sonadow/Shasoni ship as a whole. It is the most popular ship in the franchise, and I can see why. But shipping their Sonic Boom counterparts, specifically those versions, will never sit right with me.

While they're all about adventuring and being in action, on the rare occasion where they feel the need to relax, they get ultra cozy with it. Beach days are Amy's favorite way to kick back, though Sonic still lovingly comes along. She loves the gentle warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. She's in her element, floating on her back in the water or reading a good book in a comfy beach chair.

Sonic, being a little more hesitant around the water, enjoys being in the depths of the forest or in the mountains. He actually takes some time to take in his surroundings when he sets the intention. He loves the sound of birdcalls and takes the time to identify the foliage around him, foraging edible plants. At the end of a long day of quiet exploring, he's setting up a campfire and making a meal for himself and Amy.

there's always lots of hammock cuddling and sweet kisses between the two of them in either environment!!

Other than using her Piko Hammer, Amy's favorite method of 'punishment' when Sonic is an idiot and upsets her over something is to sit on him like he's a park bench. Her super strength means that unless Amy decides to move, Sonic is stuck worse than a fly in a spiderweb.

Before their relationship turned romantic, this annoyed Sonic to no end.

Now though?

I'm very picky how these two interact so I also like how they interact in the canon for sure. there is still quite a few things about shadow amy struggles to grasp, and shadow doesn't really care for sweet personalities, but he's neutral about her at best.

2: otp - I'm not sure... I used to be a huge SonAmy fan when I was younger, so there is nostalgic value for that ship. However, BlazAmy and MetAmy are kinda cute too.

3: brotp - Sonic and Amy. I have an AU where they're, like, chaotic besties. I've always really liked their banter in Sonic Boom. However, I've seen some really awesome Shadow and Amy friendships.
