Title: No Child of Mine

Author: Nichelle Giraldes

Sanjay and Essie have been together since they were teenagers, and though she had to put much of her life on hold for Sanjay, she is now looking forward to their future together. After agreeing to move into an old house, Essie unexpectedly finds that she is pregnant, throwing her plans to finish medical school right out the window. The pregnancy is difficult, putting her on bedrest, and in the meantime, Sanjay has changed, spending much of his time pacing around the attic. Is there something wrong with their new house or is there more going on that has yet to be seen?

This was a pretty good book, though at times repetitive. I had a hard time connecting to Essie or finding her to be a likable character, but the suspense factor throughout the story is what kept me pushing to finish. The author does a good job of misdirecting the reader as far as what is truly behind the spooky happenings, and it’s a unique twist that I enjoyed. However the story ended abruptly and seemed to fizzle out. I enjoyed the majority of book but overall, it wasn’t consistent.

Title: Play the Fool

Author: Lina Chern

When a man stumbles into the shop where Katie True works, she decides to do a tarot reading for him. But when she sneaks a glance at his phone and finds a photo of her friend Marley — with a bullet hole in her head — everything changes. Now she’s gotten herself tangled up in a world of lies and deceit, putting her own life in danger while searching for Marley’s killer. But how well did she truly know Marley and how far is she willing to go to find the truth?

For me, this book was just okay, but I think I enjoyed the idea of the story more than the actual story itself. Some parts dragged on and were a bit anticlimactic, and when Katie discovered what really happened to Marley, I have to admit, I was surprised but also a little disappointed. I felt bad for Katie getting dragged into something that had nothing to do with her, all because she cared so much about Marley and wanted her to get the justice she deserved.

Overall, it was a decent story but I’m not sure if I’d recommend this one.

- The Road to Avalon (Joan Wolf) - The once and future king (White), a classic - the Guinevere trilogy by Persia Woolley is very good but a bit ambivalent, maybe more Arthur/Guinevere than Lancelot/Guinevere - Rosalind Miles´ Guinevere trilogy - Lavinia Collins´ Guinevere book, keep in mind this is nsfw

The house in the cerulean sea by Klune, all the found family feels!

Just checked it out, that does sound really interesting. Love me some found family and weird supernatural beings (also they mention a cat and i need that cat to be present 24/7 in the book)
