Jiang Cheng for the character meme 🫡
send me a character and i’ll list:
favorite thing about them
Honestly, I love his anger. No, it isn't pretty. Yeah, he's probably not pleasant to be around for most people. But I find that so... human. And relatable too. His flaws and pettiness, his anger, they're all so understandable and relatable to me.
least favorite thing about them
That he has so many antis.
favorite line
Just... the way he says "Wei Wuxian" filled with so much sheer rage.
brOTP
I could say WWX, because I do love to write WWX as JC's gremlin BFF in my sangcheng fics, but if we're being honest, I also think canonically they are way too intense about each other to be "brotp" (honestly I'm a closet chengxian enjoyer).
So I'm going to say I think JC and NMJ would get along really well and would really enjoy going for a beer together in modern aus.
OTP
As far as headcanons and fanfic, sangcheng. I love them together. I'm obsessed with them. Still going over 3 years later, I've written more fic for them than for any other ship. At heart, it's the teenage friends to lovers aspect, but also that they each, on their own have gone through so much loss and pain and anger... including JC's anger at NHS for putting Jin Ling in danger, no, I never forget THAT. But I think after all that, they can understand each other better than most. They can understand the anger and pain and what you are willing to do for that.
And then if speaking strictly canon-based, there's chengxian, which is... everything that it is. Which is SO much. I don't write fic for it or seek it out, but I did very much go through the book reading JC as in love with WWX.
nOTP
LXC, for fandom wank reasons. Wen Qing because I'm a book snob that dislikes CQL.
random headcanon
JC was LQR's favorite guest student that year, and JC greatly respects LQR and values his opinion. Over the years, the mutual respect grew, and they both enjoy getting together for tea and conversation whenever they have a chance.
unpopular opinion
I do not enjoy bottom Jiang Cheng.
Nor do I vibe with the "fandom bicycle" allcheng mindset that enjoys putting him together with any and all, largely because I do see him as very ace/demi. I don't think he gets around very much at all.
song i associate with them
Other than the obvious Hen Bie and the fanmade Swan Goose's Journey (which is BEAUTIFUL), it is absolutely Prince's When Doves Cry, because a now gone JC video to that song is what got me to decide to check out MDZS, and after about 10 seconds I knew I would love Jiang Cheng. Also, it REALLY fits Jiang Cheng.
favorite picture of them
Canonically, probably his first appearance in the donghua.
Tumblr media
Fanart-wise, probably one particular one where he was leaning back on something shirtless, scars on his chest in full view.

May I just say though? Personally, when someone asks me to be accommodating towards them, I can usually entertain, should the circumstances allow it, and if I had also been given that in the first place.
However in this case, why exactly should I be made to feel obligated to accommodate that person (or anyone who had a hand on the dogpiling/gossip train) and give them the benefit of the doubt, when I myself was not given the courtesy?
That's like asking for something I don't have to give. You think it only takes a few days to get over incidents like this?
How about you all fucking try what it's like to be called "ableist" based on a few tags that was written in frustration, then to be dogpiled on and gossiped about god knows where, and called out publicly without even a chance to explain myself in private?
Like sure, now they ask me, now-when they may or may not have found out that I too am a POC in the fandom, who was just literally vibing in my own damn lane, when the defamation has already occurred, when I've already been gossiped about in certain circles, etc.
It's easier to ask for accommodation when the deed has already been done, yknow? LOL
I have no more hesitation to rant on this stupid blog of mine (besides the fact that this is my online diary, haha) since I've already been cancelled and called all kinds of ugly names in the book in this stupid fandom, but to whomever is still somehow keeping an eye on this blog-while I may not be in the icky habit of call out culture, please be aware that I have receipts.
And ngl, the hypocrisy is through the damn roof. Lol
Somehow those people who are still complaining about me on their platforms are bold enough with their back and forth behavior of "all fandom opinions should exist" vs "they should keep what I perceive to be character wank out of the tags" is such a damn whiplash that at this point, I'm pretty sure the two scary extremes of their behavior are all just efforts to create an echo chamber around them where their headcanons are affirmed.
And that's all well and good, create that echo chamber as much as y'all want and invite those people in said echo chamber under the guise of positivity, but lemme just say one thing now, as someone who's read the stupid KP novel twice now, as well as watched the show all the way through three times: no matter how much you want your headcanons to BE canon, THEY ARE NOT. echo chamber numbers don't mean shit against what's canon and what isn't.
Sure, pick and choose what aspects of canon you want to play with, that’s more than fine. But for the love of all the green pastures on god's earth, it is not a personal attack on you that I choose to engage in the canon dynamics, as depicted in the book and show. it is not a personal attack that I choose to talk about these things, omfg.
because believe me, I am NOT the only one with unpopular opinions in this fandom, and lemme tell y'all now, they want to be able to say what they want without fear of being cancelled, and you can only control an atmosphere of fandom for so long.
And finally, a few more things: one, the damn tags don't belong to anyone. Trying to control what is said in the tags, now that's fandom policing, not whatever the hell I was doing just ranting in my own blog and thinking to myself this is my safe space. two, playing the high horse card and saying it's all for the sake of "keeping the positivity in fandom" only creates an atmosphere of people walking on eggshells, of not being able to say what they want to say about the characters, as if somehow people aren't allowed to make mistakes, lest they too are dogpiled like I was.
how sensitive you are about these characters is no one else's problem but your own. I (and anyone else who doesn't agree with your headcanons) am not a damn babysitter, grow tf up.

Re: "unpopular opinions" in the tags:
Voicing in the tags an opinion that is even slightly unpopular gets you many angry replies and some blockings. How often do you see positive posts being engaged on negatively? Rarely if ever. People go and make their own posts, which then get attacked. Sometimes you should live and let live (read: make your own happy posts and don't engage with every critical post you see), because if you don't what you are doing is silencing people that might have critical opinions but don't want to have angry screaming thrown at at them on their own posts.
Not every assertion about people in a group is an ad hominem. To be an ad hominem, it needs to be an argument. "You say that because you are a white woman" is an ad hominem: the argument of the opponent is dismissed rather than counterargued. "Some people in this fandom seem too happy with vampire Jonathan but not as much with vampire Mina" is a statement of fact. It can be true or false, but it is not an argument (there's no cause-consequence relationship between the terms) and therefore cannot be an ad hominem.
Dracula Daily is a tag about the experience of reading Dracula, and that experience can be positive, negative or mixed, and people are in all their right to express those opinions and their respective frustrations and joys about it. That includes their fandom experience of reading the book.
Nobody wants to be called the fandom police any more than anyone wants to be fandom policed. Fandom wank is exhausting for everyone. But, if you are a huge Dracula fan, look at the tag. See how much hype, art, and memes are there for you to happily engage. And consider how close to petty it is to get mad at one critical post that may show up once every three days and tell people to go vent on DMs if they have critical opinions. Same people that most of the time will also positively engage with interesting positive meta, memes and art, liking and reblogging.
For every critical post I have written for this tag, I have also made a positive meme or meta post, and I have reblogged dozens of those for each. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
And I think the harrassing and policing of people that have less than shiny praise to say about the book and the fandom needs to stop.

Also, possibly an unpopular opinion - S&S wank to follow. I know I’m supposed to like Marianne and realize that both she and Elinor need to find a middle ground to be healthier people. But tbh Marianne bugs the crap out of me. She’s selfish, always mean and rude to everyone she considers inferior (which is everyone, including at times Elinor), refuses to take care of herself so everyone else has to suffer for it, even to the point of driving the Palmers out of their own house... 1/2
and spends all her time obsessed either with how in love she is, or how miserable. She’s a whirlwind of selfish chaos all the while thinking her poop doesn’t gloop. People don’t like her marrying Col. Brandon because of the age difference. I’m not bothered by that as much as I wish she didn’t marry at all. Maybe she could have a chance to get a couple more years under her belt and (hopefully) become a less narcissistic person before she presumably starts having babies of her own. 2/2---S&S is one of those books that has readers picking sides in their hearts, with the ultimate conclusion being that neither sister is better or worse than the other, just messed up in different ways. Naturally most of us tend to gravitate to one side or the other, or have people in our lives who resonate as the opposing force, and all the irritations therein. Marianne is chaotic and outward, and Elinor is emotionally-constipated to a degree that’s nearly sociopathic, and they both suffer for it and learn to moderate their responses and engagement with the people around them.
In complete fairness, it’s worth pointing out that the Palmers make the choice to depart (and Mrs. Palmer is hardly set up as a paragon of good sense...but I seem to recall the doctor recommends the removal of their infant, due to the infectious nature of the fever...and kids died a lot in those days, so despite the wonderfully hysterical shrieking of Imelda Staunton in the Ang Lee adaptation, it’s not an unreasonable fear by any means.)
And you hit the nail on the head with Marianne being seventeen. (Who among us at seventeen wasn’t obsessed with being Deep in our Feelings?) I’d like to allow most Austen heroines a few years of stable independence to develop their characters and own selves, but the genteel pressures to marry don’t allow for this (except in the case of Emma Woodhouse, who I still think could benefit more from living in London for a bit and seeing more of the world and being not the top dog for a while, rather than staying in Highbury and marrying Mr. Knightley.)

Y’all wanna help me get through my workday? Come talk to me another Emmerdale and Robron! Things you like or don’t / didn’t like or things you hope to see either in canon or fanfic. I can talk about my fics or things I want to write or am writing. You can even share your unpopular opinions or wank cause I am just incredibly bored and need some distractions. Book or fic recs, tv shows to watch. Or anything you want cause I can talk about lots of various things... you could do a whole “don’t get me started” and chances are I could give you a rant or essay cause, you know, that’s how I am...
Talk to me?

Here comes the vent about some things I’ve been reading because whether I want it or not, can’t escape fully.
Listen, if EVERYTHING that happened in spn so far is Chuck’s doing, not only the bad things that happened to the bros and Cas, are written by him, but by these rules, the good ones too. If we say: " oh! he’s been acting like that because that’s Chuck’s writing it THAT way”, we have to be open to the possibility that NOTHING was real so far. Catch my drift?
I’ve written about this before and how it was an easy way out for the writers to erase everything that was before. The “it was all a dream” trope is strong in this one. But, again, I’m no meta, I have a little blog with VERY unpopular opinions, and of course almost nobody reads me. And that’s ok. I’m not complaining here. I’m just venting a little. Because it bothers me until no end how people, good people at that, are falling for spn bs. And ok, like I always say to each its own. You want to believe Mulder? Be my guest.
But I have ALL the right to call out the bs when I see it. So far for the things ppl have been telling me and things I’ve seen, this season is a mess. And everyone is trying REALLY hard to justify how shitty Dean has been treating Cas. I don’t know why. Because Chuck or not, we have been here before and nobody had any qualms about calling the writers on their bs. NOW it seems that we HAVE to make reasons, because “this can’t be Dean no no”. And even if this wasn’t Dean, if Chuck wrote ALL of this, Castiel being treated like shit since forever, the bros only caring about each other (that’s a plot hole btw), the good people they have found along the way that died for them (another plot hole), the famous mixtape....EVERYTHING could be a lie.
And that’s EXACTLY what Dabb and bobo and co. are going for. Because they are pretty well aware of the metas in the spn fandom (heck the whole season is a great meta fest) and how people can justify ANYTHING with this story line. No matter the plot holes (why the christian god is the only one with power now, when is canon that there are other gods and not all of them are dead?, what happened to the all powerful Jesse?). Think, if you want, very carefully about past seasons and story lines (Metatron anyone?), and you will see how this “Chuck is responsible omg” is nonsense. Just a way for them to get out of trouble when the season ends. Because, again, have no doubt that they know how fandom works from the inside.
And don’t make me even talk about the AUs they introduced and are going to keep playing with. Because it’s easy to get away with bs if nothing is real, if everything was manipulation and to make matters even worse REALLY important things happened off screen just to give screen time to pointless characters like Ketch (ugh) and the mess that was Lucy’s redemption arc (guess Bucklemming were manipulated by Chuck too U.U)
Now about destiel and the cheap soap opera they’re going for (yeah it’s written like a cheap soap opera’s wangst so I’m calling it that), it’s just more manipulation after 12 years of the same thing. Because if THIS is how they resolve things, through Dean being an abusive jerk towards Cas, and Cas, ONCE AGAIN, separated from the family he gave everything for... What’s the point of having a reunion in the last episodes when we are not going to see the pay off if there’s one? What was the point of keeping them separated in the last season, after YEARS of fighting each other, trying to resolve problems, death in several seasons, wangst galore, used and abused Cas... What’s the fucking point of adding to that? It’s ONE episode of Dean praying to Cas enough? Or two episodes when we suddenly forget years of abuse, because they had to keep fighting against Chuck enough? After 12 years of baiting? It’s this enough in the last fucking season? And how are we going to know in the end that they are not really puppets and that there’s maybe no real resolution? How are we going to know that this is not spn matrix? Why I should not get angry at realizing that 12 years of story line, might very well not be real?
Sorry if I’m being too bleak, but I’m tired of the excuses, the metas, the “is better Cas not being there”, the “I want Dean to pine!” and tons and tons of bs. Allow me to have my free will of thinking that what the writers are pulling in this last season is just more baiting bs, with the horrible added notion now, that everything goes because CHUCK!
Ps important note: I’m not going to write in other people’s posts, because my pov of spn and this season is SO different from everything I’ve been reading that I do not see the point in starting wank with people that just want to see what they want to see. So to not hijack anybody’s post or squee! I’m going to vent alone in my corner. Now if you let me, I’m going to keep enjoying Misha’s and Vicki’s book and be as happy as I can be ^^.

My beloved followers...
I’d never been involved with fandom before Supernatural.
I read the Harry Potter books without online interactions and I did the same with the Hunger Games, the Mortal Instruments, the Percy Jackson series and many others.
In terms of TV shows, before SPN I could definitely be considered a casual viewer. I’ve enjoyed other shows before and after SPN, but I’ve never devoted so much of my life to one in particular, like I’ve done for the last 7 years of my life.
I’ve made friends, I’ve learned a lot, and I’ve enjoyed the journey very much. I started this blog kind of accidentally ‘cause when I began “writing meta”, I didn’t know that’s what I was doing. That’s simply how I resonated with the show at the time (during season 9), and I kept doing it for a few years.
I had so many theories in my head and I needed a place to write them down. Half the time I didn’t know what I was doing, but now I feel honored (and usually very surprised) when people (even the meta sisters in the fandom) praise my old attempts to analyze the show :)
This post is NOT a goodbye (I know it feels like it, but it isn’t). I just want to say that, despite saying a few weeks ago that I was gonna write meta again for season 15, I want to be honest here and say that I won’t do it.
Game of Thrones season 8 taught me something about fandom: The more expectations people have, the more disappointed they will be with the end result, no matter what. These past 6 weeks, I’ve read so much GoT wank that there was a moment I felt sorry for the people watching the show. They were clearly not enjoying it.
I binge-watched the show some years ago and enjoyed seasons 6 and 7 live, but I had no online interactions. This was the first time I actively tried to be part of the excitement of the final season. It was an interesting experience, I must say. I LOVED SEASON 8 VERY MUCH! And I’ve watched each episode so many times I’m embarrassed to say a number.
I didn’t have any expectations, though. I didn’t come up with theories or anything like that. It didn’t even register to me to try and guess what characters might die or might take the throne or stuff like that. I just wanted to enjoy the show and be surprised by the events as they were happening. Period.
That’s probably why I was very much satisfied with how the show ended. And that’s exactly how I want to feel in May of 2020 after the Supernatural series finale airs.
I’m 100% sure there WILL be fandom wank during and after the finale. There’s simply NO way the writers can write something that makes EVERYONE in this fandom happy. That’s unrealistic! Take Cas for example: some fans want him to be human, others want him to remain an angel; some want him to rule Heaven, others to stay on Earth; some want him to end up romantically involved with Dean, others are so bitter that don’t want him anywhere near Dean. And I’m not even talking about Cas haters here; I’m talking about Cas fans!
Throughout my years in this fandom, I’ve come up with some theories of my own and I still have them deep in my heart. However, I want to release them now because I WANT TO ENJOY SEASON 15 and be surprised by the events as they are happening. I don’t want to be attached to any expectation or particular outcome. I LOVE THIS SHOW SO FREAKING MUCH that the least I can do is allow myself to enjoy the last year I’ll have the privilege to watch it live along with this beautiful community.
So, I won’t write any meta. Any disappointment people get from a TV show is the result of their expectations, and nothing else. People say season 8 of GoT had awful writing, but there are many people who enjoyed it (even if that is, apparently, an unpopular opinion right now hahaha).
TL;DR I’m setting the intention to enjoy the last season of Supernatural and nothing will ruin that for me.
I may not have meta to offer y’all, but I’ll do my best to keep a safe haven for those who are not into fandom drama. Come join me these last 12 months! I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun! ;)

For the Characters: Cole
Okay, it’s morning, I am alive again! Time to rewrite the answer Tumblr ate. XD
How I feel about this character
Gameplay-wise, the rogue assassin is my favorite spec in DAI, so I always bring Cole with me if I’m not playing rogue assassin myself. As a companion, he brings out very interesting dialogues from the other companions, and I really like the whole dad!Solas x dad!Varric thing that comes out from Cole’s personal quest. Story-wise, though, I think that I am missing something with regards to his character since I’ve never read the book in which he shows up. Meta-wise, it kind of annoys me that a lot of his dialogues (especially with Solas) are not at all relevant to Dragon Age itself, but rather nerdy wank. A small easter egg is amazing, but there is about a dozen of conversations Cole has that, instead of bearing relevance to the Fade or Spirits or other Dragon Age lore, are just veiled references to angel movies.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
None, actually. Give me an a-spec human Cole. Because, after all, it is not romantic or sexual attraction that makes you human.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Cole and Varric. =)
My unpopular opinion about this character
I don’t like his mind-reading skills being used to expose people’s feelings and solve unresolved sexual tension between the main couple, be it in canon or fanfic. I know this is a very popular and well-liked trope (I mean, even Stranger Things did it twice through Murray!) and that’s okay, but personally, it irks me.
Personally, I prefer his mind-reading skills to be triggers of catharsis or self-evaluation. I enjoy it when he exposes a character’s thoughts to that character in particular -- not a third party, -- giving them an external view of their own feelings and experiences and helping them come to terms with shit.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I don’t know that there is anything.

Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
Formatted posts look crap. Have you ever picked up a book and read a story with weird spacing and bolting and font changes? No. It may be “aesthetic” but it looks like a load of wank and reads like it’s being read out by William Shatner.

They made Cersei the big bad because they love Lena. Just like they rewrote Dorne because they wanted more Indira Varma. That’s literally the only justification.
I’m gonna shut my mouth about how if they wanted more IV they could have done it the same as the book without that mess and I’m gonna shut my mouth about the rest of the entire thing because like I know it’s an unpopular opinion and I don’t want to wank/rain on people’s parades but I wish it was just LH, it’s that audience-wise cersei somehow works idk for what goshdarned fucking reason because idg the appeal of either version so if people like her fucking shit up THEN WHY NOT, but flkgjkdlsgjdsjgjklsk

theorizing on this c@ryl and richonn3 fandomwank. lol  so avoid this. It’s probably starting drama. oh deer.
basically, most of the time, we don’t need the fandom. lol fandom is just opinions. when watching a show or reading a book, u don’t have to have the fandom with u too.
fandomwank is all stans being super aggressive over their faves and generalize fans. Like people think carylers all raised the same way and think the same way. Stans or fans anywhere are always thinking who’s the ONE best character and/or ship. I really don’t like how the fandoms does that a lot. And that who’s the most badass. It’s not a game. It’s a story that we’re looking at. I don’t wanna see all perfect characters/superheroes. That’s boring and unrelatable. Also, in stories and in the world, we have many people/couples around us who are different, flaws, and all. I mean why ship or like one character. whatever, stans. We all got different opinions. A group of shippers don’t all like the same ships/characters from other fandoms. I just want good story writing.
It’s weird to think most of  Carylers and Richonners are against each other in the fandom but they are. I wondered why but it’s all generalizing, wank, stuff. It’s kinda more like idk jealous shipper stans or it’s not Richonners but more like Caryl haters.   Suddenly Carylers are racist (and homophobic and others) because they didn’t ship the other ship. Which like I guess it may be true for some fans (each side have some bad apples there) but really c’mon most Carylers ship Caryl for 9 years and they just want Caryl to be canon and love seeing them together. They’re not interested in other pairings. Whatever interested them, each person has their own opinion. Carylers are not crazy for shipping them. All shippers go thru the same ups and downs of shipping. Even when a ship didn’t go canon or endgame, the ship still exist and loved. There’s no winning, just luck that u like the show/story the whole time. I mainly follow respectful people. If one person on my side or the other side is disrespectful, I block them.
I really don’t understand these twitter ship war stuff. lol it’s crazy over there. I guess people who look for drama and game talk all day. And they hold grudges..generalize and don’t block people. whatever.
why does it seem like a group of Richonners (stans) are like “ship Richonne, therefore must ship C/E and D/Connie.” yikes. wtf. it’s not a cult. I ship both Richonne and Caryl. so what am I? lol Then I think it’s the Richonner stans or anti-Carylers who are mad at Carylers (from somewhere like Twitter) for saying I guess “Caryl is the BEST ship ever !one!! There must be only one, so not Richonne/or Rick/Michonne(character).” So then Richonners...ok more like Caryl haters would want to ‘spite ship’ C/E and D/Connie in order for Richonne/or Rick/Michonne, to be the best ship/character evah and that Caryl ship “lost”/”not the #1 anymore!” Really tho, it’s dumb cos who cares..... There’s people who multi-ship and ship more the one ship on a show. Same with characters. I feel kinda bad for some of the genuine C/E and D/Connie shippers who are like wtf idc genuinely about richonne, and carol or daryl.
idk. I guess the point of it is that people want to be on the popular side, their opinion heard, don’t like to be on the unpopular side. Also hard to avoid those rude people and generalizing them. Also the drama or popularity is from people who are really vocal. So I guess if u want to be known just keep talking on the web. Fandom wank!  Blah xP go follow understanding people and ship/fan a character u like. be nice and do ur thing. <3

3, 4, 5, 10, 14 for the salty asks!
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
Mercifully, no! Maybe I’m just in too small a corner of the LOTR fandom for their to be much wank, but everyone I’ve met has been just lovely. Even if I don’t agree with meta or ships or something they do enjoy, it’s never been enough for me to unfollow anyone.
Honestly, that pretty much goes for all of my other fandoms as well. I like my little bubble and I stay there.
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
I wouldn’t say I really have a LOTR NoTP…there’s certainly ships that aren’t my jam, but nothing makes me viscerally recoil, at least not that I can think of. OH. Incest. Any form of it but ESPECIALLY Boromir and Faramir, which is something I had to see the other day with my own innocent eyes.
For the MCU, I loathe Bruce/Natasha but that’s more of a result Joss Wheedon’s Shitty Sexist Writing’s fault (and the complete erasure of Betty Ross) than an issue with either character.
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*
Hm. I’m mostly a ship and let ship kinda gal? So. No?
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
Look. I love the LOTR movies more than I love most people that’s not an exaggeration. But I will be FOREVER bitter about them cutting some of Faramir’s best lines–”I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I only love that which they defend.”–and how the majority of Eomer’s lines were given to Theoden (though I get it, cinematically, I really do). AND I kinda hate how they made Theodred a teenager? His death is just as poignant in the books when he’s a 40 year old man!
Oh also the whole bit of Saurman and Wormtongue fucking up the Shire in the books like WHY let the poor Hobbits rest
MCU wise: the entirety of Civil War. What a WASTE.
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
LOTR: Not so much on tumblr and definitely not on AO3, but some people on FF.net have NO concept of what constructive criticism is versus “I don’t like these 3 specific things about your story so now I hate you and it and the air you breathe”.
MCU: Oh god. So much. I don’t have the energy to go into my unpopular opinions regarding the MCU fandom besides this: Please. Chill. Out.

How I feel about this character
I actually really enjoy Heroes! I’m just kinda meh on the FEH oc’s.  Though, now, it’s mostly Alphonse that I have issue with and that’s moreso fandom kinda blowing him way out of proportion (if it were waistline instead I would have ZERO qualms lol)
But, Lif is a character I enjoyed!....until it was revealed he’s just dead Alphonse. And then book 3 is kinda garbage with plot going nowhere and book 3 becoming an Alfonse wank fest and everyone else gets forgotten about.
romantic ships
Lif x Thrasir is cute but Thrasir gets shoved to the side come like mid book 3? Still nice ship. Lif x Sumoner angst is also great lol
non-romantic ships
I think I remeber one Forging Bonds involving Lif and Dimitri? It wasn’t good at all (like most FBs....) but it’s a neat friendship idea
unpopular opinions
I liked Lif way more before it was revealed he was just dead Alfonse
what I wish would happen with character
Besdies being retconned to not be Alfonse, just give him more screentime without it being revolved completely around him/Alfonse.

Unpopular opinion but I really didn’t care much for LB3.
Most of the characters could have been switched out and the only reason Xiang Yu and Jing Ke aren’t able to be is because of Consort Yu and Qin Shu Huang being chosen but even then they could have been switched. Yu is just nasuverse wank that was applied to a random woman and Qin Shi Huang could have been any tyrannical emperor in China which there is no shortage of.
Red Hare and Chen Gong did literally nothing the whole time and Mordred I felt was chosen to be a popular face but there’s plenty of other rebels in the Throne. Spartacus, I don’t care much for, but he is legit the only character that was interesting and fun in this list belt besides Jing Ke for me. And it’s cause of their interactions with the villagers. I thought this lostbelt was great up until our march to the capital and that’s mainly due to me loving character interactions to develop them (heck America is my favorite singularity because of exactly that).
Now the plot was fine and I did appreciate what Urobuchi’s point of the lostbelt was and I agree on why it was awful for people. The execution was great, just it was all plot and not a lot of substance besides Qin Shi Huang who just felt like an arrogant idiot to me since he preaches constantly about how super cool mega awesome sauce his world is but is so blind to literally everything and Consort Yu...that in itself is a whole bag of obnoxious. “You can’t understand her pain of losing love,” “You can’t understand why she hates people so much,” “You can’t understand why...,” etc. We get it, we don’t understand the burden of immortality, literally something everyone who has read any book about it knows already cause it gets lectured to you. I get it sucks not being able to ever see your beloved again but when it is literally all fixed within a minute it cheapens her whole character which I don’t care for in the first place. She was only made this way to sneak true ancestors into the game which is pointless for a soon to be revealed reason and was only given that outfit to get saint quartz summons. Again, all stuff that could have gone to any number of random of Chinese figures, wouldn’t be the worst they’ve done to China. That said, still better than LB2 by a looooong shot.
