a/n: I did not proofread and its lowkey a summary of the first movie? This is my first smut regarding anyone in the tolkien universe but I did write some sad fluff at some point lmao. Anyways, please like and send any requests if you want <3 tags go absolutely wild
You’ve been an adopted hobbit for the last 18 years of your life, Bilbo was always comforted in the known so when he brought you along with him and the dwarfs on their journey you were beyond surprised. Your presence was unexpected for everyone, except Gandalf of course, and most of the company was against your involvement. The dwarves saw you as frail and weak, the only one on your side was your dad, but of course he was.
Kili has kept an eye out for you since you joined the company, he makes sure you're safe and also just enjoys looking at you.
__________
When Elrond and his fellow elves come back the dwarves pull you and your father behind them and create a circle around you. You stay behind your Bilbo as the elves talk with Gandalf.
Upon your entrance to their dining room you look around with wonder, you sit down between Kili and your dad. “They're so beautiful,” you whisper to Bilbo, he nods with a gentle but awkward smile. Kili’s ears twitch as he looks around, his eyes narrow on an elf who has his eyes on you, he moves closer to you wrapping his arm around you.
“You think so?” Kili questions, his jaw clenching slightly, “I think us dwarves are better looking, stronger too.” he says pridefully, you chuckle in response.
“Is it a competition now?” you cock your head, “You’re very good looking too, Kili.” he smiles wide.
“Is that so? I am the best looking of all of the company, aside from Thorin of course.” you laugh, putting your hand on his arm.
“A bit full of yourself huh?” he shoves your shoulder gently in response. Kilis arms finds its way around your waist as he continues to glare at the elf who dared to look at you, who did he even think he was.
Gandalf, Bilbo, and Thorin wander off with Lord Elrond, leaving you with the dwarfs. You watch quietly, laughing with them and listening to their conversations before you feel yourself drifting off to sleep. Kili quietly sits next to you letting your head fall to his shoulder he smiles, covering you up with a blanket.
__________
After the company left the palace Thorin led everyone to the Misty Mountains, Kili keeps you in front of him. He insists that it’s better that way so if you fall he can catch you. As the rain picks up your feet slip under you, Kili and Fili grasp your arms quickly, pulling you back onto the ledge.
“Thank you,” you say softly as your eyes look over the ledge. Kili keeps a hold of your arm tightly as you all try to avoid the stone giant's blasts. The ground splits under your feet as the mountain takes shape as a giant, you grab onto the stone behind you before everyone begins to slide forward.
The stone giant slams into the mountain, throwing everyone off of it and onto the ground. Thorin yells for his nephews as the rest of the company runs over, Kili helps you up dusting your clothes off and checking to make sure you weren’t hurt anywhere.
After all the commotion everyone settles into the cave, Bilbo pulls you off to the side and quietly talks to you, he tells you about his plan to leave once everyone is asleep. “Why dad? What's wrong?” you whisper to him.
“Thorin is right, we never should've left home, I’ve put you in danger and I can’t let anything else happen to you.” he sighs as he runs his hand through your hair, “It’s okay, we’ll be fine.” he smiles reassuringly.
You both gather all of your stuff and sneak out, he leads you by the hand. He pulls you behind him as he talks with Bofur, you stay quiet looking around the cave. You didn’t really want to leave the company, I mean they were becoming your friends, you enjoyed the company.
“Y/N?” Kili mumbles as he looks up at you, he yawns. “Where are you going?” You crouch down putting your hand on his shoulder.
“Go back to sleep Kili, you need your rest,” you smile sweetly.
The floor splits and you slip down with everyone, Bilbo gets away but you are guided off with the dwarves. Your eyes fill with terror as you look around, you take a hold of Kilis hand squeezing tight as the goblins push you all around. You cower behind him, holding onto his shirt tightly.
Once you get out the dwarves all argue over where your dad went, your head drops as you think that your dad couldn't possibly have left you all alone. He reappears and you rush over to hug him, his hands drop to your waist as he smiles.
“Y/N!” Kili and Bilbo yell at you as you try to defend the dwarves with your small blade; it goes into the center of the wargs head, and Kili grabs you and pulls you up to the tree with him. His hand wrapping around your waist as he holds you close.
“Don’t move,” Kili’s voice is angry as he demands you to stay put. His hands dig into your slides as you look below your feet. Kili’s hands slip away as they start to throw the pinecones, the tree begins to fall, you grasp onto the trunk as tight as you can. His hands wrap around the tree, his eyes focused on you.
As Thorin and your father begin to fight the orcs, your eyes squeeze shut tightly, you try to focus on anything but the attack of Thorin. Kili pulls you up and onto the ground, insisting you stay put as they go to fight. You look forward, clutching the blade you retrieved from the corpse tight. As all of the commotion ensues you feel yourself being picked up by an eagle.
Once you all are in a safe place you watch as Gandalf helps heal Thorin. You stand next to your dad, holding onto his arm, as Thorin goes in for a hug you let go of him and move back. Your eyes wander to Kili who turns his head in order to avoid eye contact with you.
As the company moves forward you come across an area close to a river, Gandalf suggests that you all take a break and bathe. You and Kili were the last to go, you were paired up at the recommendation of Fili.
Kili guides you to the river, holding his weapon close to his chest, he’s been giving you the silent treatment after you got in between a fight. “You can bathe here, I’ll keep watch.” his voice stern.
“Kili..” your voice trails off as you look at his back, trying to pull his attention to you.
“Y/N, just take your bath. It’s getting dark.” Kili’s tone is extremely cold. You pout your lips as you begin pulling your clothing off slowly, once you finish you slip into the cold water.
“You can turn back now,” you say softly before you dip all the way under the water, holding your breath and squeezing your eyes shut. After a while you break the surface of the water sliding your hands over your face pulling the water back with your hair. Kili had turned around keeping his eyes on everything but you.
“Kili,” you wave him over, “come here, please.” you bite your lip as he gives you a bored expression.
“What is it?” he walks close to the bank of the river, his eyes scanning your face.
“Shouldn’t you join me? You're supposed to bathe as well,” he sighs, turning his back to you again.
“Fine, turn away.” he sets down his sword and strips quickly. You face the other way as he slips into the water with you.
“Kili, what is your problem?” you huff, spinning around with your arms crossed over your breasts.
“What do you mean?” his eyes are half closed as he looks at you with a slightly annoyed expression.
You move closer to him, “I mean, you’re acting so rude for no reason. You won’t look at me, you barely talk to me, you’re being so dumb” you glare at him, “So what is your problem?” he rolls his eyes at you.
“I don’t know maybe the fact that you threw yourself into harm's way? You could’ve gotten yourself killed,” he yells at you while running his hand through his hair.
“Calm down Kili,” you move close to him, putting your hand on his arm. “I didn’t expect you to get all worked up like this, I know I should have been more careful but I just wanted to help.” your eyebrows furrow as you look down.
His warm hands grasp your upper arms “You really worried me Y/N,” he presses his forehead against yours.
“You worried about me?” a sly smile paints itself on your lips, “does that mean you like me Kili?” your voice is soft and teasing. His ears turn a deep shade of crimson as he turns his head up.
“Y/N cut that out,” he puts his hand on the side of your neck, his eyes flick to your lips.
“Cut what out?” you wrap your arms around his neck pulling yourself close to him.
“You know what,” he clenches his jaw, your hands running down his back as you wrap your legs around his hips.
Kili pulls your face to his, hovering his lips over yours “Quit teasing me,” he whispers. Your hand snakes up to the back of his head, cradling it as you push your lips against his. His hands move to your waist, his fingers dig into your soft flesh as he hugs you tighter against him.
“Mahal,” he pulls away, pressing soft kisses down your face and onto your neck. You lean back letting his lips trail over your body, your nails scratch his scalp softly as you arch into him.
“Amrâlimê,” he whispers against your collarbone, “you’re driving me insane,” Kili groans. He grasps your face pulling you in for an intimate kiss, he’s getting more intense with his affections, his hands squeezing your hips roughly.
Your hand trails down his chest tracing every muscle on his stomach, he begins grinding against you while holding your hips against him. Pulling away from the kiss you gasp for air, leaning your head against his shoulder, you wrap your hands in his hair pulling it off to the side. Kissing his neck roughly you begin to leave soft marks on his flesh as he massages your ass.
“Y/N..” he mumbles into your ear, you moan softly as he picks you up, moving into shallow water. “Can we..?” his ears flush as he looks away, “I mean, would you mind?” you chuckle softly.
“Mhm,” you move your hips against his thigh, feeling him twitch underneath you. “But we’ll have to be quick..” you kiss his shoulder as his hands pull your hips up, he lines himself up with your hole, pushing the tip in.
“Let me know if it hurts,” he says gently, his hand finding its way to your neck grabbing ahold of it pulling your head back as you moan softly. He bucks his hips up into you, leaning forward you bury your face into his nape hugging him tight as you moan into his skin.
“My precious girl,” he groans as he slowly begins moving your hips up and down, his fingers digging into your soft skin, leaving red marks. You moan into his ear as you begin riding him, your arms wrap tight around his neck, eyebrows furrowing as you squeeze around his dick.
Kili cradles your head against him, holding you as close as he can, thrusting up into you pushing as deep as he can. Your head falls onto his shoulder, he moves a hand down to your sensitive clit, rubbing circles into it.
“I’m so close,” you moan, Kili nods in response.
“Me too,” he groans, his hands exploring every part of your body as he pulls you into a passionate kiss.
“Hey, Y/N, Kili, hurry it up.” Fili yells to you, causing the both of you to jolt up. Kili pushes himself into you as deep as he can. You bite your lip as you cum around him, your hole pulsing.
Your back arches, silent gasps leaving your open mouth as you ride out your high. Your whole body seems to tense up causing Kili to groan while he cums deep inside you. He pulls you off of him giving you a sweet kiss.
“Now we really need to clean up, and fast.” He says lowly, his hands creep up from behind you gasping your sides as he pulls you into deeper water to rinse off. You sigh contently as he holds your body close to his.
After quickly cleaning yourselves up; you both get out, drying off before putting your clothes back on.
“Kili, you can’t tell anyone about this.” you bite your lip as you turn to him, his eyebrows furrow. “Bilbo might actually get so mad he tries to kill you,” you giggle softly as his face relaxes.
“So it’s our dirty little secret then?” coming close to you he wraps his arms around your neck giving you a deep kiss. “But we will get to tell everyone later, right?” he pulls back, eyes scanning yours.
“Yes, Kili,” you kiss the tip of his nose, hands resting on his shoulders, “but let's wait it out for a bit, okay?” he smiles in response.

Not All Who Wander - Chapter 6
[Chapter 1] - [Chapter 2] - [Chapter 3] - [Chapter 4] - [Chapter 5] - [Chapter 6] “Fingers crossed the next chapter won’t take quite so long“ I said. Well, obviously, every last one of you crossed your fingers, because LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, here’s the next chapter. ...I had so much fun writing this one you have no idea =D Have some hijinks and fluff to make up for the dark tone of the last chapter.
Bilbo had absolutely no idea what he was doing. It was stupid, foolish, ridiculous. He was behaving like a tale-addled fauntling, and the worst part of it all was that he couldn’t even bring himself to regret it, even though he knew he should.
It was just that Thorin’s letters over the autumn and winter had been so sad. Well, actually, they’d been clipped and formal. Still just as informative as ever, and still full of just as much gratitude and curiosity as ever, so Bilbo was relatively assured that Thorin wasn’t mad at him, at least, but… Bilbo was concerned. And usually, when he was concerned about a friend, he would pop over for a visit.
Of course, Thorin wasn’t a hobbit, and he didn’t exactly live just down the lane. He was a dwarf, and  he lived in a mountain. It was an insane notion, and Bilbo had spent all winter trying to shake it out of his head. But he couldn’t shake the memory of how Thorin had smiled to see him, and his nephew’s words about his more usual demeanour, and… If Bilbo could help make the dwarf a little happier, then- Well, then he wanted to, and that was reason enough, surely.
Thorin had ever so helpfully provided him with a map that had his home marked on it – marked, but not named as more than ‘dwarven settlement’, which Bilbo thought was rather sad – and his own maps helped him plan out a route, and there wasn’t really anything stopping him, was there?
It had been like taking a walking holiday, and just… not turning back. The first night he stayed with his Took relatives, which was normal enough, and the second night he spent at the inn in Michel-Delving, and that wasn’t too odd, but the next night he was forced to camp out on the Far Downs, and at that point he was rather forced to admit that this was very much akin to an adventure.
On his own.
In the wilderness.
Gallivanting off to meet dwarves, for heaven’s sake!
What was he thinking?!
Only, of course, he knew what he’d been thinking. He’d been thinking of Thorin, of how the homesickness had been so very plain in every word he spoke about Erebor, of how he cared so deeply for his nephews, of how he looked at Bilbo like he was something remarkable. He was thinking of Thorin’s letters, how Bilbo could match the tone and cadence of the latest ones with the way he spoke to the other hobbits, but never Bilbo. He was thinking of that last letter, that had mentioned his plans to travel yet again being derailed by… Well, by something. He’d been annoyingly vague about that part.
He’d been thinking that he really, really just wanted to see Thorin again soon. Far sooner than his vague promises of ‘perhaps in the summer’. Why, by then it would be almost a full year gone by without seeing the stupid dwarf, and Bilbo couldn’t bear the thought of it.
One more night was spent camping in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, and then he was there.
His first clue was the huts. There were several little clusters of them, scattered across the slopes in a way that reminded Bilbo of nothing so much as stubborn goats perched halfway up garden walls out of sheer tenacity. They were not the best-built houses he’d ever seen, nor were they particularly elegant, but they looked sturdy enough, despite Bilbo’s fear that they might just go sliding off down the side of the mountain at the first nudge.
He got more than a few stares as he passed through the make-shift little village, and it made Bilbo feel very out of place indeed. Goodness, but if this was how Thorin felt in the Shire, no wonder he’d been scowling so fiercely. There was another slightly larger cluster of huts further along the path, but by that point, Bilbo was feeling a little uncertain. Thorin had said that they lived in the mountain, but was that another cultural difference? Had Bilbo walked right past Thorin’s house and not known?
He pulled out his map, wondering if it might hold any insights for him, but no, the little dot that symbolised this particular settlement spanned half a mountain, and offered him no details. There could be dozens of these little hamlets, and Bilbo could be wandering them for days looking for ‘a dwarf named Thorin’. He hadn’t thought this through at all.
“‘Scuse me, Mr Hobbit?” Bilbo’s head snapped up, startled. There was a dwarf standing nearby, head ducked forward as though he was trying to peer around Bilbo’s map to look at his face. He had the most ridiculous moustache, but there was a friendly, inviting smile underneath it, and his eyes were surrounded by laugh-lines. “Bit lost?” The dwarf suggested, tone light like they were sharing a joke.
“Ah, somewhat.” Bilbo admitted, going a little pink with chagrin.
The dwarf perked up and stepped closer now that conversation had been engaged. “Maybe I can be of service?” He offered, and then leaned in to look at Bilbo’s map. “Why, that’s a dwarven map, or I’ll eat my hat!” He exclaimed with some surprise.
“Well, yes, I should hope so, as it was a dwarf who gave it to me.” Bilbo agreed. “It’s no help, though. I know I’m in the right place-” He jabbed his finger at the little dot. “-I just don’t know where Thorin lives. I should have asked, really, but I never thought- Well, never mind. I don’t suppose you happen to know where I might find him?” He asked, hopefully, giving up on scowling at the map to look over at the helpful dwarf, only to find him looking startled.
“Thorin?” He echoed. “You’re looking for a dwarf named Thorin?” He checked, sounding a little incredulous, although Bilbo couldn’t imagine why. Unless that was like asking after a ‘Daisy’ in the Shire? Bilbo would be a bit incredulous if anyone asked where to find Daisy, without adding in a last name, or anything else to separate that Daisy from the dozens of others living in Hobbiton alone.
“Yes. Ah, he’s a blacksmith. He said dwarves don’t really do last names, but he did have one of those epithets you lot bestow for acts of valour or whatever.” It took Bilbo a moment to root it out of his memory, but he’d remembered weirder names for many a distant cousin, and, well, he liked Thorin a great deal more than he liked any of them, so he had ascribed the name a good deal more importance. “Oakenshield? Do you know him, by any chance?”
The dwarf was gaping at him now, slack-jawed and wide-eyed. “You-” He began, but didn’t seem to know how to finish that sentence. He mouthed helplessly for a moment. “Oakenshield.” He repeated. “You’re- you’re quite sure that’s the name?”
“Yes.” Bilbo insisted, getting a little impatient now. “He’s about so tall-” He gestured well above his own head and a little above the dwarf’s, even with the extra inches his hat gave him. “Long dark hair, short beard, impressive scowl.”
The dwarf started nodding about half-way through, one fist pressed to his mouth as if in thought. Bilbo stared at him, entirely befuddled and unsure whether the dwarf did or didn’t know Thorin. “Oh, Mahal’s balls.” He breathed suddenly, and Bilbo’s eyes nearly bugged out of his head at the profanity. “Blacksmith.” He squeaked. Snorted. And then he started laughing so hard he doubled over, wheezing. “‘Acts of valour or whatever’! Don’t know where he lives! Oh, by Mahal’s forge!”
Bilbo was feeling more and more embarrassed, and more and more annoyed about that fact. “Yes, alright!” He snapped eventually. “It’s very funny, I’m sure. But in case you hadn’t noticed, I’m not a dwarf! I’m sure you’re all well versed in where you all live and what you’ve all done, but this is the first time I’ve even left the Shire, for goodness sake! I just wanted to visit a friend, because that’s what we do in the Shire when someone you care about is having a rough time, but I’m really starting to feel like maybe I just should have stayed home and not bothered!”
“Ach, sorry, sorry.” The dwarf said, but he was still smiling, so that took some of the sincerity out of it, in Bilbo’s opinion. He seemed to notice that, because he went so far as to sweep his hat off his head as he sank into a bow. “My most humble apologies, Master Hobbit.”
“Well, now you’re just mocking me.” Bilbo grumbled.
“I promise I’m not.” The dwarf assured him, straightening up but not replacing his hat. “Well, not much. It’s just, uh, that Thorin, you see, he’s… Well, he’s a little bit famous, round these parts.” He admitted with a sheepishly amused grin.
“Oh.” Bilbo muttered, still feeling a touch irritable.
“He lives inside the mountain, too, and you might have a little bit of trouble getting in. We don’t usually have non-dwarves wandering around up here. I can show you the way, though, and maybe, uh, vouch for you, or something.” The dwarf offered.
The last of Bilbo’s irritation melted away, and he sighed. “Thank you.” He agreed, and then. “Oh, where are my manners? Bilbo Baggins.” He went to hold out his hand, and then remembered that Thorin tended to bow, so he did that instead, even though it made him feel very silly. “Um… at your service?” He offered, hoping that was the right thing to say.
The dwarf beamed at him. “Bofur, son of Bomfur, at yours and your family’s!” He replied, bowing again. Bilbo blew out a quiet, relieved sigh, glad he’d at least got something right. “This way, then.” Bofur encouraged, tipping his head back the way Bilbo had come. Bilbo sighed again, this time at himself, and then fell into step with the dwarf.
They walked for a minute or two in silence, weaving between the little stone huts, Bofur waving or nodding cheerfully to anyone and everyone who paused to stare. He didn’t get much in the way of response. Maybe a cautious nod if he was lucky, or a frown if he wasn’t. “You dwarves aren’t a very sociable lot, are you?” Bilbo asked, before he could think better of it.
Bofur snorted. “Nah, we’re plenty sociable among ourselves. It’s just… well, we’ve been through a lot, and it makes a people a bit wary and suspicious-like. No offence to you specifically. If, uh, if Thorin thinks you’re a decent sort, then you probably are, at that.” Bilbo felt oddly flattered by that, both for himself, and at the implication of trust in Thorin’s judgement. “D’you mind if I ask how you met him?” Bofur questioned, not exactly tentatively, but in a tone that suggested he was half expecting to be shut down.
For a moment, Bilbo was confused. Then he remembered the way that ‘blacksmith’ had been one of the reasons why Bofur had been laughing at him, and frowned. Was Thorin not a blacksmith? That hardly made any sense; Bilbo had seen him hard at work at the forge on more than one occasion. Had stopped to watch for long enough that he was pretty sure it couldn’t have just been for show. “He stopped to ask for directions to Bree.” He said casually, watching Bofur closely out of the corner of his eye. “He had business there, and his nephews had gone on ahead to advertise. I suggested he might want to try selling his wares in the Shire on his next trip, since we’ve a lot of need for good quality farming tools and such.”
Bofur looked surprised, but not as startled as Bilbo might have expected. “And did he?” Bofur wanted to know.
“Well, yes. Several times now.” Bilbo confirmed. The conversation faltered when Bofur didn’t seem to have anything to say to that, but before Bilbo could think of trying to find a new topic, the dwarf pulled up short and rapped his fist against the cliff-side they’d been ambling along. Bilbo froze, blinking in bewilderment.
Only, to his very great shock, a slab of the rock-face swung inwards in two parts. Like doors, Bilbo realised, staring open-mouthed in wonder. They were more than tall enough to accommodate four or five hobbits standing on each other’s shoulders, and wide enough to allow half a dozen or more to walk abreast, and the tunnel beyond was lit with glittering crystals that revealed a smooth hall lined with intricate geometric carvings.
“Oh…!” Bilbo breathed in awe, taking a step forward without thinking.
He pulled up short when a very long-handled axe was lowered across his path. Although, it was nothing like any axe Bilbo had ever seen before, with pointy bits on top and on the back and across the top of the handle as well. It looked like it would be next to useless chopping firewood, and Bilbo was fairly sure that meant that it was meant for a far more gruesome purpose. He stepped back again sharply. “Who’s that, and what’s he doing here?” The dwarf holding the axe – if it was even called an axe when it was meant for people and not trees! – demanded of Bofur.
“He is right here.” Bilbo huffed, irritated by the rudeness. “And he can hear you perfectly well and speak for himself just fine, thank you.” The dwarf gave him a long, incredulous look. “My name is Bilbo Baggins – at your service – and I’m here to visit a friend.” He offered a short bow, because that was apparently the polite thing to do, and it would be just the thing to make the dwarf ashamed of his own behaviour, really, to be better at dwarven manners than a dwarf.
“A friend.” The guard echoed incredulously. “What friend?”
Bofur cleared his throat. A glance told Bilbo that he looked like he was about to burst out laughing again, but was valiantly restraining himself. “Ah, I know we’ve got rules and whatnot about outsiders not being let into the mountain without King Thorin’s say-so, so I was just going to run on in and let His Majesty know he’s got a visitor?”
The guard nearly dropped his axe in shock. Bilbo couldn’t honestly say he would have done any better. Indeed, his fingers felt rather numb all of a sudden where they were wrapped around his walking stick. It felt a little like Bofur’s words were drifting over to him from a very, very long way away, but slowly, they filtered through into his mind in a shape that made… well, it didn’t make any sense at all, actually, but he understood what the words were supposed to mean, anyway.
It seemed like a small age that the guard just stood there uncertainly, before, eventually, he nodded, and gestured Bofur through with his axe. Bofur slipped past him and flashed a reassuring grin at Bilbo that Bilbo barely registered. “You just sit tight, Master Baggins.” He called, the words echoing in between the confused repetitions of ‘King Thorin’ and ‘His Majesty’ still swirling through Bilbo’s mind. And then Bofur was gone down the hall, and it and the guard vanished from view as the invisible rock-doors swung soundlessly shut again, leaving Bilbo gaping like a fish at a blank stone wall.
“King?!”
Bofur wasn’t really expecting anyone to stop him on his way to deliver a message to the King. Oh, there was a gamut of guards to get past, but ‘message for the King’ opened a lot of doors, even if Bofur didn’t have the braids of a courier. He was from the surface dwellings, which meant that if he made himself look a little bit harried, everyone expected him to be reporting on some new disaster, and they ushered him on quickly. He was glad that he’d get to deliver good news, instead.
He assumed it would be good news. Thinking back to the awkward little hobbit he’d left on the doorstep, Bofur had to stifle a grin. He knew very little about hobbits, all told, but that alone was enough to know that they didn’t exactly get out much. To have one come all the way here was remarkable, and the fact that it had all been for the sole reason of lifting the King’s spirits? That was sweet, and something Bofur most definitely approved of.
The guards pointed him towards the King’s office, an area of the halls he’d never ever had cause to visit before. It was a little intimidating, even if they didn’t look all that different from the rest of the halls. The carvings were more artistic, and the rooms and walkways better maintained, maybe, but only barely. And that was why Bofur liked King Thorin. Unlike the puffed up old sods on the Broadbeam council, who insisted on their station being venerated despite the fact that no one bloody well had time for that rot anymore.
Before he could reach his destination, though, he was halted by a pair of stony-faced suspicious-looking guards. “I’ve a message for the King.” He told him.
“What message?” The guard demanded.
Bofur blinked, but, well, it wasn’t like it was a secret. “There’s a visitor for him at the Gate.”
One of the guards nodded to the other, and the other one left, heading down the hall, while the other remained in place and kept a gimlet stare pinned on Bofur. There wasn’t anything for him to do except wait, so he leaned against the wall, and started humming an old mining song to keep himself entertained. The guard didn’t relax, even when Bofur pulled out a jauntier tavern song, and then started singing a song that was perhaps not appropriate for the royal quarter.
He was on the fourth verse when the King came into view. The guard grimaced, and gave Bofur a ‘shut up right now!’ sort of look. Bofur stopped singing, but he didn’t stop grinning. Especially since the two Princes, who were a step behind their uncle, both looked to be struggling not to laugh. He offered them a wink, and the youngest snorted into his muffling palms.
King Thorin shot the Princes a reproving glower, and then swept the same look over Bofur. It was very intimidating, and Bofur bowed to get away from it. “Bofur, son of Bomfur, at your service, m’lord.” He offered politely.
“At yours and your family’s.” The King replied, entirely serious, bowing back. It left Bofur a little stunned, if he was being honest. He knew, of course, that King Thorin was good to even the poorest of his people, but that was a level of respect Bofur just about never saw these days. “You said there was a visitor at the gate?” King Thorin pressed on, already setting off past Bofur down the hall and gesturing for the poor surface-dwelling ex-miner toy-maker to walk beside him. “What sort of visitor?”
“A hobbit.” Bofur informed him, and had the distinct honour of being one of the few dwarves ever to see their good King stumble like a wee pebble still taking their first steps.
“Mister Baggins?!” The younger Prince asked in what Bofur could only describe as glee.
Bofur looked over his shoulder at him, grinning again. “Yes, as it happens. He did say he was looking for a friend. You do know him, then?” He asked, feigning innocence as he looked to the King. “Only, I wasn’t entirely sure, seeing as Mr Baggins was very clear he was looking for a simple travelling blacksmith and all. But I don’t think there’s another ‘Thorin’ in these halls, so…”
The younger Prince was howling with laughter, and if Bofur wasn’t much mistaken, their great and noble King was blushing. He had to press a fist to his mouth to keep from joining Prince Kíli in his mirth. “That must have been an awful shock for Mr Baggins.” The elder Prince interjected, his moustache quivering with the laughter he was biting back.
“He did seem a little stunned.” Bofur acknowledged.
“That’s enough.” King Thorin snapped. Bofur did put some effort into repressing his grin, but that was kind of ruined when Prince Fíli sniggered into the ensuing silence. “Fíli.” King Thorin growled.
“Sorry, Uncle.” Fíli offered, not sounding very sorry at all. “But really, he had to be told some time before you present him with your first gift.” Bofur’s eyes maybe bugged out of his head a little bit at that, because that sounded an awful lot like the King was intending to court the fussy little surface-dweller Bofur had left standing outside the gate.
“Yes, I know.” King Thorin huffed, sounding resigned. “I had only hoped to be able to inform him in my own time.”
And there was no denial. Which meant the King was planning to court a hobbit. That was… Oh, that was going to put a raven in the tinker’s shop, and no mistake. Still, Bofur wasn’t an old tradition-bound councillor and, in his opinion, a dwarf could do a lot worse than someone who would go out of their way just to keep your spirits up.
It didn’t take them much longer to reach the gate, because the pace King Thorin had set had been only just this side of eager. The guards standing sentry in the watchtower carved into the mountain either side of the main tunnel opened the gate without needing to be ordered to on seeing the King approach. It took Bofur’s eyes a moment to adjust to the sunlight, and then another moment to find Mister Baggins, because he wasn’t standing on the path anymore. Instead, he’d taken a seat on a boulder not too far off, travelling pack and walking stick leaning against the mountainside beside him.
“Bilbo.” King Thorin greeted, hand raised to shield his eyes from the sun, but not hesitating to step out to greet the little hobbit.
Mister Baggins got to his feet as Thorin approached, and Bofur only then noticed that the poor thing’s feet were entirely bare, because he was digging his toes into the shale and gravel like some kind of living tree attempting to root itself even in stone. Then he cleared his throat, lifted his chin defiantly, and said “Thorin.”
And King Thorin laughed.
Bofur was pretty sure his own jaw wasn’t the only one to have dropped. The two guards shared looks like they were wondering if their ale had been spiked. Everyone in the mountain knew that King Thorin didn’t laugh. By Mahal, he barely smiled. Not that anyone considered it a flaw, as far as anyone Bofur had talked to was concerned, the King had precious little to smile about, so fair enough, really.
“What are you doing here?” King Thorin demanded. “You must have been walking for days…!”
Mister Baggins frowned at him. “Well, yes, a few. But it wasn’t so very different from a walking holiday, really, and I’ve been on plenty enough of those that I knew what I was doing. And I had that lovely map of yours to show me where to go.” He paused, and then peered up at the King’s face intently. “You sounded upset, in your letters, and I rather thought- Well, if you’d lived in the Shire, I wouldn’t have thought twice about popping over to check in on you, and really, it’s not so far to walk. Less than a week, and it’s that far to Bree. Which I haven’t actually visited, mind, but a fair few hobbits do, so it’s not as though I’ve done anything scandalous-”
Bofur couldn’t see the King’s face, because he was facing away from the rest of them, but he didn’t need to, to know that he was staring at the little hobbit in wonder. It was all right there in his voice, when he said; “Thank you, Bilbo.”
“Oh, I- Well, yes.” Mister Baggins stammered, clearing his throat again, before smiling warmly in response. “You’re quite welcome.” He offered, and then promptly shook the moment off with a brisk little sniff. “Now, are you going to make me stand on your doorstep all day?”
“Of course not.” King Thorin said quickly, and turned to usher Mister Baggins into the mountain. The guards stepped smartly into flanking positions either side of the gate and raised their weapons in salute. Putting on a proper show for the first surface-dweller to step inside dwarven halls in- Well, since Erebor fell, probably. Mister Baggins squeaked, though whether in surprise or fright, Bofur couldn’t tell, and though King Thorin nodded respectfully to the guards, his momentary solemnity doing nothing to dim his smile.
“Oh, Fíli! Kíli! Hello! I’m afraid I didn’t see you there.” Mister Baggins greeted as he approached the cluster of dwarves. Bofur edged away, not wanting to intrude, but still a little caught up in enjoying watching someone else’s happiness. The Princes, while clearly not besotted the way the King was, were still clearly delighted to greet Mister Baggins, and were doing so with all the rambunctious enthusiasm of dwarves half their age.
Before he could actually retreat back through the closing gates, though, the King turned to him. “Thank you for taking care of him, Master Bofur.” King Thorin said, still with that fond half-smile on his face. He actually looked a little dazed by his own happiness, which made Bofur grin in sympathy, and maybe a little amusement.
“Oh, it was no trouble, Your Majesty.” He assured him cheerfully.
“If it would not be too much of an imposition, would you be willing to see Mister Baggins home when he wishes to leave? You’ll be paid for your time and trouble, of course.” King Thorin requested.
Bofur maybe gaped at him a little. He was doing a lot of that today, but he dared anyone else to keep their composure better after the day Bofur’s had. “I’d- O’course I’ll do it,  but- I’m just a toymaker. Not even a miner, anymore. Wouldn’t you rather send an actual guard for- for someone so important?” He asked, bewildered.
For a moment, the King looked pained, but then he cleared his face, even though his smile looked a little less happy. “The guards are currently stretched rather thin, and I don’t expect there to be any real trouble on the road to the Shire, but Mister Baggins is of a gentle, peaceful folk, and I would feel better if he had someone with a strong enough arm to swing a pickaxe with him.” He paused, and then fixed a steady, intent stare on Bofur that startled him, just a little. “I have no doubt in your skill, nor your honour, Bofur, son of Bomfur.”
“A’right then.” Bofur managed, feeling a little ridiculous for being so flattered at the trust being put in him, but it was King Thorin. He figured that earned him a little leeway. “Yeah. I’ll- Whenever he’s ready to go, just- ah-” Bofur gestured uselessly, in a vague attempt to communicate that he wasn’t going to be busy doing anything that couldn’t be dropped with a few minutes notice.
“We’ll find you.” King Thorin replied, and Bofur felt a laugh bubbling up at the thought of King Thorin dropping by the tiny clumsy surface shack he shared with his cousin.
“What’s this?” Mister Baggins asked, finally released from the Princes, it seemed. “Why will we need to find Mister Bofur?”
“He’ll be escorting you home, once you wish to return.” King Thorin informed him.
Rather than being grateful, Mister Baggins’s face scrunched up in what looked like annoyance. And sure enough, his next words were damn near to a scolding, hands on hips and everything. “I’m not a helpless fauntling, Thorin, I hardly need babysitting-”
“It’s not that I believe you to be helpless, Bilbo.” King Thorin retorted in frustration. Bofur’s shoulders shook with laughter at the long-suffering look on his face. “I’ve no doubt that with a little training, you would wield a blade well enough-”
“A blade?!” Mister Baggins squawked.
King Thorin jabbed a finger at Mister Baggin’s horrified expression. “But that – that right there – is why I’d rather you have someone with you while you go cavorting about in the wilderness! The world is a dangerous place-”
Bofur finally exited the mountain to the sound of the hobbit’s flustered, indignant blustering, and the King’s fondly frustrated retorts. He whistled a jaunty little ditty to himself as he ambled home, marvelling at everything he’d seen and learned today, and the strange little turn his life had taken, just because he’d stopped to give a hobbit directions. Bifur was sure to get a laugh out of this story, sure enough.

Pairing: Thorin Oakenshield X Reader
Word Count: 1,449
A/N: Huehue. This is a little late, but I wanted to do an April Fool's thing. I ended up being super busy on April 1st so I couldn't actually work on this ;-; cri
The company was sick of seeing the tension between you and Thorin. Every day was the same routine. You couldn't admit your feelings for the King; so you became stubborn. He couldn't admit his feelings for you; so he became rude. It drove the company mad. Kili nudged his brother as you began to wonder away from the camp. The young prince had been planning a way to force you and Thorin to out your feelings for each other, but he couldn't ever get a window. His window was now. "Fili she's going," he whispered, pointing a low finger at you as you disappeared out of sight. Fili grinned down at his younger brother. "Is it time to set Plan âzyungâl into action?" Fili asked. Kili nodded in response. The pair stood to their feet causing the company's attention to rest on them. "We're going to go collect some more fire wood," they stated, in sync. They glanced at the fire realizing that they didn't really need anymore fire wood. Before anyone could pipe up the two scurried off in different directions. Once out of sight they met up in the woods. "Okay now we just need to find (Y/N) and get this over with," Fili spoke. Dread hung in his gut. This wasn't the best plan, but it was hopefully going to be worth it. The prince's began to search for you making sure they were quiet. Their plan was to scare you enough that you'd go to Thorin. They'd noticed that during dangerous situations you stuck close to Thorin and he was always at your aid if you were in trouble. Neither of you would admit why you were staying so close to each other. Fili's head turned as a whistle sounded a few paces away. He crept toward the noise spotting his brother crouched behind a tree. He raced to Kili and slid behind the tree. They peaked around spotting you.
~
I sat down on the edge of the pond with a sigh. I removed my boots and socks rolling up my trousers. I dipped my feet into the icy cold water allowing it to sooth my feet. I couldn't keep this up. My heart burned and ached at the thought of Thorin. He was a king and I shouldn't love him, but I did. Everything around me seemed peaceful. I tried to focus on the welcoming silence of nature, but I couldn't. After my recent treatment I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back to camp. I froze in place as a few twigs snapped behind me. Swiftly, I jumped to my feet. I moved to unsheath my sword, but quickly realized that I had left it sitting next to my bag. I silently cursed myself as I glanced around searching for any possible threat. I found none. I whirled around as another twig snapped behind me; another one snapped again. I was turning in circles. Something was teasing me; something was playing a sick game before it attacked me.
~
The prince's split up and raced to either side of you. They began snapping twigs drawing your direction in every which way. Guilt pooled in Fili's stomach, but he kept going. After a moment the brothers came back together as they watched you. "Think she's scared enough to run back to Thorin?" Kili asked, snickering as you continued to whirl around searching for the owner of the sound. "I think so," Fili replied. The two princes readied themselves to jump out, but something large caught their eyes. "Great Mahal..." He gasped. A large bear hobbled toward the pond stopping when it saw you. "Go get Thorin, now!" Fili hissed. He watched as his brother took off through the trees. Fili quietly drew his sword and waited. He'd never seen a bear so big. You didn't move a muscle as the bear stared down at you. Panic rose in Fili's chest as the bear stood on it's hind legs towering over you.
~
The bear stood over me like a pillar of stone. Fear coursed through my veins, but I tired to hold my ground. I began to wish Thorin was at my side, but I was too far away from camp for anyone to see the trouble I'd gotten myself into. I yelped and rolled aside as the bears paw suddenly raised and slammed down. It continued to try and strike me, but I kept moving. I flinched as Fili leapt from the bushes with his sword drawn. He advanced on the bear. "Fili look out!" I cried. The bears paw grazed him knocking him off balance. I needed to help him. I ran forward and grabbed Fili trying to drag him away from the bear. He began to run, but a large weight knocked us from our feet. I yelped as I was scooped from the ground with a large paw. I was certain this would be my end. My head turned to see the company emerge from the trees weapons drawn. Thorin held everyone back. I could see the fear in his eyes. The bear released me which sent me crashing to the ground. Every part of my body ached from the drop. As soon as I was out of the beasts grasp the company pursued the bear until it fled. I sat up and was surprised as Thorin dropped to my side. "Are you hurt?" He asked, helping me to my feet. "No I'm-" Thorin cut me off as he embraced me. The warmth of his body was comforting to me; I'd never experienced anything like it. "Thank Mahal..." He breathed, in my ear. That sent a shiver acrossed my body. Thorin finally released me, but his hands lingered on my arms. He finally stepped away from me. Disappointment rushed through me for a moment. "(Y/N), there is something I must confess to you," Thorin began. I watched the company disappear into the woods leaving us by ourselves. "Yes Thorin?" I asked, a little to eagerly. My heart began to beat quickly in my chest. "I have treated you horribly throughout our journey; I see that now. You are a valid member of our company and I should not have treated you in such a way," My heart sank. "It's fine Thorin," I muttered. "No, it isn't fine (Y/N). I have been lying to you. I have been hiding away under the fear that you would not accept my truths," My heart picked up it's pace once more. I took a small step closer to the king. "What is the truth that you are scared I will not accept?" I asked. I had my hopes high, much higher than they should be, but I couldn't help it. "I care for you (Y/N). I care for you very much," He blurted. I was shocked to see deep shades of pink creeping onto the King's cheeks. It suited him. "And I for you," I spoke, quietly. I moved until I was standing almost against his body. "After seeing that bear.. I realized that I could not move on without you," he continued. His eyes left mine. "I need you (Y/N)," I reached up and touched Thorin's bear gently with my hand. I ran my thumb over the course hair. "Thorin I-" he cut me off as he pulled away. "I understand if you do not share these feelings (Y/N)," I frowned and walked toward Thorin. "Will you let me speak?" I snapped. He did not respond, but his gaze locked with mine telling me that I was allowed to speak. I reached up and rested my hand back onto his cheek. "I share your feelings Thorin, I really do," I smiled, softly. "Men lananubukhs me Thorin," I purred. Thorin's lips pressed to mine in a gentle manner. For such a brute warrior his kindness shocked me. The kiss was short and worth the while. "Let us return to camp," He held out his arm for me and I linked mine with his. We returned to camp only to have all eyes on us. "Are you two done creating awkward tension or do we need to scare you again?" Kili called. It quickly dawned on me that they were behind the scare. "You did that?" Thorin growled. "Oh no, the bear wasn't our fault, but the rest of it was," Fili pipped. I chuckled and let go of Thorin moving to go sit by Bomfur. "You two are in for it now lads," Dwalin chuckled. The company laughed as Thorin began to chase his nephews giving each of them their punishment for scaring me. His eyes met mine once more and happiness rushed over me.

THRANDUIL AND WHITE DEER
Bilbo and others dwarves are safe across the enchanted river with boat, but when Bomfur is getting ready to scramble out of the boat suddenly a deer spring over them and make Bomfur fall in and drown into the river. They help Bomfur and lying him of the bank. From afar they hear blowing of horns in the wood and the sound as of dogs baying. Short while later, appear some white deer before them again, a hind and fawns as snowy white. The deer is a symbol of many things, a symbol of spiritual authority, a messenger, an animal power, sensitivity, intuition and genteleness, also related to the sacred and to forests, independence, purification and pride.   The white colour meaning coolness and simplicity, innocence, light, goodness, heaven, safety, brilliance, sincerity, and perfection. Seems like the white deer as representations of the king of Mirwood forest. Bilbo and Thorin's company see white deer when they almost exit Mirkwood forest in the northheast, a region save from Necromancer influences in the southeast.  So it's not come from dangerous area.  It comes from the king of Mirkwood forest. The white deer brings message to dwarves as mortals are entering the lands of immortals the region of woodland elves where different rules or laws apply. That is, the Elves rule in this part of their forest and their laws must be honored. No matters what happens, thirsty, hungry and frustate, they should not trespassing the mirkwood forest. If they have been in Mirkwood forest the should go to otherside.  As Tolkien then writes: "If they had known more about it and considered the meaning of the hunt and the white deer that had appeared on their path, they would have know they were drawing towards the eastern edge"

THRANDUIL AND SEAGULLS
Legolas gets message from Galadriel :..... "Legolas Greenleaf long under tree. In joy thou hast lived. Beware of the Sea! If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the shore, Thy heart shall then rest in the forest no more"
It seems to be Legolas's fate, when he hear seagulls, the sea-longing will make him leave Mirkwood forest forever. And how if Thranduil has known about that. He has known that oneday Legolas will leave him alone and sail to Valinor. And i imagine what Thranduil worries everytime he sees seagulls. His heart beats fast and asking himself...is this time to Legolas to valinor? Or he will try to speak to seagull to never appear before Legolas.

The path I choose
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/37VSJZO
by AvariaRevallier
A knocking on the door made her look up from the book she was reading. A guest? At this hour? Slowly the small Hobbit stood up to answer the door. „Dwalin, at your service.“ A dwarf. A dwarf on her doorstep. A dwarf she knew a long time ago. A dwarf who died in battle, proudly swinging his weapon. With a blank stare she scanned the dwarf. ‚Oh Yavanna, how cruel of you‘ Another moment the hobbit stood in the half open door, slowly realizing what was happening. In her empty eyes a spark lit up, after a long and cold winter. A single teardrop ran down her cheek, breaking her numbness. „You are alive?“ She wispered under her breath. Before Dwalin could react the small hobbit jumped at him, hugging the big warrior and sobbing at his chest.

Bomfur, Determamfidd's OC of Bombur and Bofur's father. I don't like his expression. But my previous image of the whole family captured his personality a bit more. This was me experimenting with my iPad app again. I'm getting better, slowly. I'm waiting on a firmware update so that my stylus works properly with the iPad Air...which might be a long time. But it's not half bad right now. Next up will be a portrait of Genna, Bomfur's lovely wife. After that, maybe some actual illustrations of Sansukh, to keep me busy until the next update! ^_^

Looking for a Hobbit Fic
Can someone help me find a hobbit fic? Basically it's an AU where the Shire has a drawling where who ever gets chosen is sent to the dwarves and the Hobbits think that they're all going to their deaths because no hobbit has ever returned but it turns out the dwarves had no idea about that. Also the reason their being summon because it's a hobbit that could break the curse on Thorin who turns into a dragon sometimes. Does anyone know where this is? I'm almost 100% sure that I read this on Ao3. Thanks!

A/N: Here is another mostly relaxed chapter! I’ve got some ideas for the next chapters to kick things back off. ALSO I may or may not have some plans to write some smut stuff :P Would anyone want me to write that or nah?
Erebor was breath taking... I walked quietly behind my father and my brothers as we entered the mighty kingdom. Our king, Dain, had been invited to attend a princing ceremony, as he called it. I hadn't ever seen a kingdom so beautiful in all my life. "Remember children if anyone speaks to you I am to do all the talking," Father called, over his shoulder. The three of us nodded our heads and kept to ourselves. We were greeted by a group of guards and an old dwarf. I quickly realized that the old dwarf was the king. Our small company bowed to him and his men. "Welcome Dain and company to Erebor!" He boomed. "You have aged well Thror," Dain boomed. I glanced at Dain and then to Thror. Dain was a child compared to Thror... My eyes drifted to another dwarf standing almost behind the king. I hadn't noticed him until now. "Thorin! It's good to see you lad!" Dain boomed. The young dwarf came out from behind Thror and moved to embrace Dain in a tight hug. "Good to see you cousin," the dwarf, Thorin, answered. I was awestruck at the sight of the dwarf. His Raven black hair stretched over his shoulders. He had two fresh braids in his hair. One braid was on the left and one of the right. His features were strong and young and a growing beard rested on his jaw. His eyes met mine for a brief moment before I looked away casting my feet to the floor. "Cousin, this is my royal advisor, Lord (Name)," Dain introduced, motioning for my father to step forward. My father was older than Dain and Thorin. "Prince Thorin," my father bowed. Thorin shook his name. "That title does not suit me yet, please, call me Thorin," he spoke. His baritone voice sent a shiver up my spine. "Allow me to introduce my son's, (Name) and (Name)," my father motioned to my brothers and they stepped forward. "They will be at your service as long as we take residence in Erebor," he added. Thorin bowed to my brothers as they did for him. I stood behind my father with my head down. It was not a new feeling to be left unintroduced. "And her?" I brought my eyes up meeting his oceans. I looked away again when it seemed as if I was drowning. "She is a serving girl of mine," my father replied. That was my title and it always had been. Thorin stepped past my father and toward me. I kept my head low as he came to stand in front of me. "What is your name?" He asked. I opened my mouth to speak, but remember what I had been told. "(Name)," my father spoke, quickly. "Let her speak," Thorin growled, shooting my father a sharp glance. I raised my head slightly before curtsying to him. "I am (Name), the serving girl of Lord (Name)," I spoke, timidly. I knew not to speak of my true relation to my father. "(Name) is our sister!" Our eyes landed on my eldest brother. My father's gaze was harsh toward my brother. "I am tired of pretending that she is not my sister," my brother snapped. A frown formed on Thorin's face. Before anyone else could speak Thror called silence. "Let us not argue. We are here for a ceremony of happiness. Allow my grandson to show you to your chambers," Thror boomed. I let out a soft breath as Thorin stepped away from me and began to lead us to our chambers.
I stretched out my body as sleep began to leave me. There was a comfortable silence over the room, but an uncomfortable space next to me. My eyes opened as I sat up. I glanced toward the empty space next to me. "Thorin?" I called, quietly. He was nowhere in sight which sent a spike of worry into my stomach. I slid out of the bed cringing slightly as my arm protested against the small amount of pressure I had placed on it. My feet touched the floor and I began to move toward the door. I wasn't sure if it was day or night until I stepped out into the halls of Erebor. I was surprised to see them buzzing with dwarves. My eyes caught Dori. "Dori, have you seen Thorin?" I moved to him stopping him in the hallway. "Last time I saw him lass him and Dwalin went down to the dungeons," Dori replied. I thanked Dori before heading off toward the dungeons. To my own surprise I seemed to know my way quite well. I moved down a flight of stairs until I came to a set of guards standing at the entrance of the dungeon. "May we help you?" One asked, blocking me from entering. "Have either of you seen Thorin?" I asked, calmly. The guards exchanged glances. "He has asked not to he disturbed," the other spoke. "Tell him that (Name) is searching for him," I muttered. They did not move. "Alright then, tell him that his queen awaits him," I ordered. I knew that I was not queen was yet, but I knew they would respond. One of the guards nodded and disappeared into the dungeons. I waited patiently until the guard came into view. Thorin walked behind the guard before his eyes rested on mine. He passed the guard and came to stand in front of me. "Good morning ‘ibinê”," he purred, running a gentle hand over my cheek. I leaned my face into his touch smiling softly. "Did you need something?" He asked, dropping his hand after a moment. "I was only wondering where you'd gone. I woke up without you by my side and I grew worried," I spoke. I glanced over Thorin's shoulder to see Dwalin coming toward us. "What have you two been up to?" I questioned, remembering that my father had been placed here the day before. "I was speaking with your father," Thorin's voice grew strangely cold. A frown formed on my face. "Do not worry yourself (Name). We did not harm to him," Dwalin quickly added. "Oh I don't mind if you harmed him," I said, casually. That seemed to surprise Dwalin. "Did he apologise for his treatment?" I asked, folding my arms over my chest. Thorin shook his head. My frown grew. "Let me speak with him. He must apologise for the treatment toward the king," I growled. I was angry at him. I was angry that he had treated Thorin and myself so cruelly. He had no right.. I stepped forward, but Thorin's arm gently came out to stop me. "There is no need (Name)," He spoke, calmly. "There is every need Thorin!" I yelped. I tried to push past him, but he caught me. "There is no reason pushing him for something he will not give my queen. Do not waste your energy," Thorin had made his final statement on the matter. I knew it was settled. I let out a huff and turned my back to Thorin. I heard his mouth open to speak, but I walked away leaving the dungeons.
~
Guilt grew in my stomach as I walked into the kitchens. I wasn't surprised to see Bomfur hanging around the kitchen scavenging whatever he could find. "Good morning Bomfur!" I chirped, stepping into his line of sight. Bomfur smiled wide holding an armload of food. Ori appeared from a side room in the kitchen. "Good morning my lady!" Ori squeaked. "Now Ori, there is no need for that title," I giggled. Ori let out a laugh as well. "Would you like to help us? We're going to try and cook something for the dwarves still staying in the mountain," Ori asked, holding his own armload of food. "I'd love to!" I followed after the two as they began to separate everything and deal properly with it. It had been a long time since I'd cooked; some things I didn't remember how to do, but they aided me.
~
Our trio carried out the pots and plates. Dain had made an announcement that food would be served in the main dining hall. There were just enough dwarves to fill the hall completely. We began to serve each dwarf until our hands were empty. Nori had come to help us pass out food while Ori went back to the kitchens to make more. I gazed over the room full of dwarves quickly noticing that Thorin was not present. My brows furrowed as a frown formed on my face. I walked over to Dwalin, who was placed near my brother. He didn't seem pleased with the placement, but did not make it public. "Dwalin, where is Thorin?" I asked, ignoring the sharp stares from my brother. "He has not left the dungeon," Dwalin replied. I turned away from them and made my way into the kitchen. "Ori, I need a bowl," I called. I was greeted with a fresh bowl of soup. I took the bowl and rushed from the main dining hall and back toward the dungeons. When I moved down the stairs the guards at the bottom had left. I could only assume they were in the main dining hall with everyone else. "Thorin?" I spoke, quietly. I wandered further into the dungeons to see Thorin sitting in front of my father's cell with a stool. "Thorin, you did not come to the dining hall," I called. I walked into view of my father and paid no heed to him. Thorin turned his oceans to me. His eyes were glazed with appreciation and love. "Thank you bunnanunê," Thorin purred, taking the bowl from my hands. He set it carefully on his lap and returned his gaze to my father. "Daughter, did you bring a bowl for me?" My father asked, hesitantly. "No," I replied, keeping my eyes on Thorin's. "Do you wish me to starve?" He snapped. "Yes," I replied, blandly. "(Name)," Thorin scolded. I did not say a word casting my gaze to my feet. I raised my eyes to see Thorin standing to his feet. He took the bowl and slid it through the space in the bars that was meant for food. I opened my mouth to protest, but snapped it shut. "You are a merciful king, thank you," my father bowed, taking the bowl. Thorin's gaze turned to me. "Come, let us join our kin," he smiled, gently. I did not return his loving smile. I glanced to my father who was hastily gulping down his soup. Thorin's hand rested on mine intertwining our fingers. I did not deny him. We turned and left the dungeons making our way back to the dining hall. We walked slowly and in step with one another. Our weight rested on each other trusting one another to hold each other up. I rested my hand on his shoulder as we continued to walk. Thorin's pace slowed as the dining hall came into view. I looked up at him seeing the pain glazing his eyes. "Are you alright?" I pulled him to a halt and stepped in front of him. "It's nothing I can't deal with," Thorin replied, giving me a fake smile. "Thorin, you need to rest," I spoke, resting my hand gently on his chest avoiding the healing wound. "It is nothing," He held his stance appearing strong and mighty. After a moment he cringed. "Come," I put his arm over my shoulders and slowly led him away from the dining hall and back to his chambers. Once inside I helped him sit on the bed. "Stay here and I will return," I ordered. Thorin did not argue. I hurried out of the room made my way to the infirmary. Everything was silent when I entered. Most of the dwarves that had been occupying beds were well enough to go to the dining hall and they did. The infirmary was empty. I moved to the room where they kept all of their supplies. I scooped fresh bandages, a bowl, and a few leaves of Kingsfoil before hurrying back to Thorin's room. He had stayed in place. I set the materials down and rushed out again talking the bowl with me. I appeared in the kitchen and thanked Ori as he filled by bowl with hot water. I rushed back to Thorin’s chambers only to find him walking through the room. I sat the bowl down and moved to Thorin. His hand was rested over his healing wound. I led him back to the bed and sat him down. I walked back to the door and closed it. “Arms as far up as you can manage,” I ordered. Thorin did not hesitant to attempt to lift his arms. I bent down and carefully grabbed the end of his tunic bringing it over his head and setting it next to him. The bandages definitely needed changing. I crawled onto the bed and sat behind Thorin slowly untying the bandages and unwrapping them. Once they were off I slid out from behind him and stood in front of him. The wound was healing nicely, but it still made me want to gag.
I turned away from him and picked up the Kingsfoil crushing it over the bowl and allowing the leaves to fall into the hot water. “Does it cause you much pain?” I asked, keeping my eyes on the bowl as I allowed the leaves to soak. “Only a little,” Thorin replied. I heard movement behind me. A shiver ran up my spine as hot breath attacked my ear. “You should not be standing,” I commented. I underestimated how close he really was. I turned on my heels only to find our lips connecting instantly. For a moment I fought him thinking about what task needed to be done. Eventually I gave in bringing a hand to rest on his cheek. I allowed him to continue to a moment before separating my lips from his. “Sit,” I ordered, giving him a smile. Thorin nodded and moved back to the bed placing himself down. I waited for a moment longer before dipping my hands into the water and removing the now paste like leaves. I carried them over to Thorin and skillfully began to press them against his wound. He gritted his teeth letting out occasional grunts of pain. I finished and grabbed the fresh bandages. Thorin lifted his arms enough to allow me to wrap the bandages around his body covering his wound. “There,” I smiled. I stepped back and found myself tracing my eyes over every inch of his exposed chest. My face heated up as Thorin stood to his feet. “Wait here,” I left the room once more and returned to the kitchens. They were cleaning everything up now. “Is there any soup left?” I asked, moving to help Ori clean up. “There is plenty left over! I may have made too much,” he blushed. I smiled at the dwarf. I helped Ori finishing cleaning before going to collect two extra  bowls of soup. I returned to Thorin’s chambers with the bowls in hand. I entered the room slowly as Thorin slipped a sky blue tunic over his body. The color suited him well. I cleared my throat letting him know that I had returned. “Is that for me?” he asked, strolling over to me. I handed him one of the bowls before walking over to a low wooden table in the corner of his room. Around the table laid multiple pillows. I placed myself down on one of the pillows and set my bowl on the table. Thorin sat down across from me. We sat in a comfortable silence and ate. Once I was finished I pushed my bowl aside and laid down my back moving a few of the pillows so that I could lay on them. “So what did you discuss with my father?” I asked, breaking the silence. “Nothing of much importance,” Thorin replied, after a mouthful of soup. “It is important to me,” I reported, resting my hands on my stomach. “I spoke with him about his harsh treatment toward you and his disrespect toward you,” Thorin spoke, reluctantly. “And?” I asked. I doubted that was all they discussed. “I-” Thorin paused. I sat upright and looked at him. His eyes were away from me. “It isn’t of any importance my dear,” Thorin spoke, bringing his eyes to mine. I grumbled and dropped back down onto the pillows. My hands came to rest behind my head as I stared up at the ceiling. A silence fell over us once more, but it was welcomed. I brought myself to sit up once more. “You should rest,” I locked my gaze with Thorin’s. “Would you join me?” he asked. My face flushed once more, but I nodded and stood with Thorin. We moved toward the bed and crawled in. Once I was under the furs Thorin pulled me close holding my body against his own. This was something that I was used to. I let my eyes slide closed as sleep came over me.
