Question any fav ships in cats?

I'm not too big of a shipper in general, but there are a few pairings that I find fun! (+ explanations as to why I like them)

Jennyanydots x Skimbleshanks (I can't help but picture them as the 'aunt and her boyfriend-who's-way-better-than-her-ex-husband' duo; they can't always spend time together given that Skimble is often out of the junkyard and Jenny spends her nights organizing vermin, but the time they do get to share is calm and quiet -- something both of them appreciate a ton, seeing as they both live very hectic and busy lives)

Bombalurina x Demeter (Bombalurina is the only cat that Demeter presently trusts with her heart, and Bomba knows this. Bomba is one of few cats who knows how to pull Demeter from her neurosis, and is the one Demeter trusts to do this the most. Part of the reason why Demeter is able to sing about Macavity at all is because she has Bombalurina by her side, reassuring her with presence alone that things will be fine)

Rum Tum Tugger x Mistoffelees (I like to imagine them in a queerplatonic relationship -- Tugger enjoys the occasional company of multiple casual partners, while Misto has an aversion to romance and gets all of the interpersonal joy he needs out of being able to wow his friends; but at the end of the day, they both share something exclusive and special with one another that both would describe as being a bond beyond friendship)

Victoria x Rumpleteazer (Victoria keeps Rumpleteazer's feet planted on the ground, while Rumpleteazer shows Victoria how to have some fun every once in a while. I imagine that Rumpleteazer is particularly good at speaking in signs, given that she'd need to be quiet yet communicative while sneaking around with Mungojerrie; and as such, she's naturally able to be quite talkative with Victoria, who has picked up a number of Mungo and Rumple's made-up signs as a result of this, while also teaching Rumpleteazer some proper JSL (junkyard sign language) 💪)

Sharing my opinions on various Rum Tum Tugger ships because I have them

Tugger x Bomba: the OGs. Icons. Bi4Bi t4t annoying4annoying together4ever. Love them forever and ever. This too is yuri

Tugger x Misto: LOVE to see it! Don’t like how Some People want them to fit into the most basic boring prepackaged Netflix rom com gay “relationship dynamic”. They’re little freaks. Oh also this too is yuri

Tugger x Alonzo: I just find it kinda boring? Seems like ppl just took two of the “conventionally attractive” (in air quotes bc. They are ppl in cat makeup and spandex) male characters and put them together. No chemistry IMO

Tugger x Plato: I didn’t care for it at first but now I can see the merit (esp in the 1998 movie) . I’m a huge platoria sucker though so I like interpreting it as Plato and Victoria bonding over a massive crush on Tugger (a hc that I’ve heard from others too)

Tugger x Victoria: see above

Tugger x Demeter: I think it has interesting possibilities, story-wise, but they just don’t seem compatible at all. Anxiety personified x king of disasters seems bound to break.

Tugger x Munkustrap: I tend to see them as brothers, but sometimes I see art or smth that I enjoy. IIRC a handful of actors have played into this headcanon or referenced it. Lots of humor potential

Tugger x Grizabella: I don’t hate it but like, I don’t like to ship Grizabella with anyone bc that’s not what her story is about. That being said Tugger would 100% have a may/december romance

Tugger x Skimbleshanks: speaking of may/december, idk where I saw this but it was drawn as a crack ship by someone? And I actually love it I think the idea of these two together is hilarious but also kinda sweet :)

Tugger x Jennyanydots: similar to skimbleshanks in concept, but onstage I always feel like they have more of a familial relationship. Ik in the revival choreo Jenny has that fainting moment so I can see where it comes from

Tugger x Mungojerrie or Rumpleteazer: meh I guess I can see it but like there are so many better options?

Tugger x Etcetera: nope nope nope nope absolutely no.

12. Crack headcanon

In my human/celeb/soulmate au, Etcetera is a big fan of Tugger's-- her whole purpose in the fic is to keep Misto informed about what's going on with Tugger's fanbase and is constantly telling him stuff that he 1000% didn't even ask about or wants to know. She's a queen of fandom Discords and an avid Tugger x Bomba shipper-- she's probably made ship edits and AMVs and everything.

30. Sleeping habits

Etcetera can't sleep alone. She grew up the same way all the Junkyard kittens did; sleeping in the kittens' den all together, and when she became old enough to move out of aforementioned kittens' den, she, Electra, and Victoria immediately moved into a new den together, not wanting to be alone. Every night that she retires to their den first, she has to wait up for one of the other two to come down so she can actually sleep.

44. Their happiest memory

Perhaps not her absolutely *happiest* of all her memories, but her first Jellicle Ball only a couple years before the musical was an amazing night for her; just the fact of being old enough to finally participate in such an important celebration, getting to view the festivities, and seeing her first Jellicle Choice happen was amazing to her; when it was over she went to the kittens' den and told younger Jemima all about it for hours.

(For me, the girlies' ages go Victoria -> Electra -> Etcetera -> Jemima, so Jemima moved out of the kittens' den last)

what are your favorite Cats canon x OC ships you have

Tugger x Artemis is obviously my favorite, I adore them.

There's also Bomba x Calfuray, the two met during Bomb's time with Macavity. Calfuray lived in Macavity's little headquarters because she was mates with one of his main hench cats. The two talked any time they could get away from their respective mates, and Calfuray is a big reason why Bomb eventually decided to leave. Calfuray does escape and finds a place with the Jellicles, and her and Bomb slowly fall in love as Bomb helps Calfuray recover from everything she's been through.

And lastly is Cass x Jalaneel, who is this drop-dead gorgeous blue Queen. Jala was with Macavity for a short period of time but was tossed aside by him. Like many cats who escape Macavity, she finds refugee with the Jellicles and Cass is just instantly smitten with her. They start as close friends for awhile, Cass not wanting to rush anything due to Jala still being shaken up from Macavity. But one day when the two are hanging out, Jalaneel is the one who boldly tells Cass, "So, when were you planning on asking to kiss me?" Anyways, I love these two and wanna get art of them at some point

I don’t think I have any ships for him I actively dislike, at least not any I see often. Like I’m not a huge fan of for example Munk x Misto (sorry) but I don’t think they’re popular enough for me to specifically call them out as something I don’t like hfhgfjffh

My instinct is to say Munk and Tugger, but tbh I think the idea of Munk and Jenny being friends is super fun, especially with my headcanon that Jenny used to be the Protector before Munk was. They have tea together and chat about life every weekend

OTP

Demestrap, I love them so much aaaaa !!! They care about each other so much and they’re so soft together, and they’re so fundamentally good for each other, they help each other heal and grow as people and just [dies]

Second choice

Alonzostrap <3 I don’t spend as much time thinking about them but whenever I’ve read a fic for them it’s been great

Demestrap <3 their softness is unparalleled and despite being pretty similar in the anxious overthinker kind of way, they compliment each other really well and are great at bringing out each other’s more carefree side

Bombacass/cassalurina listen they're just neat, ok? also I have this one hc that when Bomba pushes cass out of the way from dancing with Tugger is cause she was like super jealous. not of cass but of tugger, like "yeah enough fun for you"

also I hc they're pretty competitive with eachother too, but it's mainly instigated by bomba fur fun and Cass is happy to play along.

My second choice pairing for them 

Cassmeter!!! especially in 2019 cats but I also ship them in stage verse. like cass usually being very relaxed and reserved I think could really compliment Demeter's skittish and cautious nature.

My fluffy pairing for them

Cassoffelees, she needs her short magician bf who's always trying to impress her, and you know they can enjoy each other's peace. magician and assistant mwa mwa.

My angsty pairing for them 

I don't really think I have one? but I think there's some angst potential with any Demeter pairing since they all involve her learning to love again after Macavity. So, I suppose cassmeter again.

6. Who forgets their anniversary?

Surprisingly,, Misto! He gets so caught up in learning new magic tricks and helping around the junkyard (he solved problems w his magic lol) he forgets important things! Tugger never gets mad at him though, Tugger almost forgot himself.

8. Who keeps the other awake at night with their snoring?

Tugger snores loud. He gets it from his father. When misto complains Tugger absolutely refuses the fact that someone as attractive as him would snore. (Misto threatened to shove a pillow down Tugger’s throat once because of the snoring)

13. Who gives the most compliments?

Again,, Tugger. He knows Misto suffers from crippling anxiety and self esteem issues, so he compliments his tuxedo boyfriend anytime he can!

17. Who takes care of the others when they get sick?

Misto! He’s always worrying for Tugger, so when he gets sick (could just be a headache or a full on flu) Misto absolutely babies him. Blanket burrito, warm soup and snuggles,,

19. Who clings to the other for comfort when they’re sad or scared?

They both do! Tugger gets scared easily (he’s scared of thunderstorms/lightning due to Macavity) so he clings to Misto during stormy weather. Meanwhile Misto will cling to Tugger when he’s sad. Usually Misto isn’t too keen on physical touch (due to his magical powers) but when he clings Tugger knows something is wrong.

Domestic hcs for your favorite ships??

You’d expect Jelly and Asparagus Jr’s den to be very tidy and orderly but instead it’s a comfortable mess of wool, theatre posters, music sheets and photos of their kits. Imagine how many things those two have accidentally bulldozed through when playing/play fighting. And they don’t have a door, they have an old curtain which they pull back and forth and they’ll keep it open whenever Jelly or Asparagus are in there so everyone knows that they’re free. It’s like their lil open sign and it’s absolutely adorable. And you can go visit them whenever you want and talk about whatever. If an adult can’t find one of the kittens one of the first places they’ll look is Asparalorum’s den. Like

“Honey, jemima just kinda vanished”

Bomba gives Tugger a look of ‘don’t word it like that’ before saying “go check with Jelly and Asparagus”

how badly underrated alonzo x Cassandra are? I'm not a big fan of the couple , and before you come at me respect your opinion. just want to know why they are underrated.

Casslonzo is underrated for the same reasons that Platoria is underrated.

once again, this is not me bashing the ships, this is just me stating what i've seen in the fandom

Alonzostrap is probably the most popular Alonzo ship (Alonzo/Tugger is also quite popular), but my least favorite thing about those ships is because Alonzo suffers from the Bomba effect, i.e: he's rarely given a personality outside of his relationship with the other toms.

Cassandra, in general, is a very underrated Cats character, and I rarely see content for her that is JUST focused on her.

I'll be the first to admit that Cassmeter is my main 2019 ship for Cassandra, but that's only because Alonzo's a barely-there character in the movie. Believe me, if he had a more prominent presence and personality, 2019 Casslonzo would be the SHIT

I mean, 1998 Casslonzo is just the MOST beautiful, and I think that it's a ship that deserves so much more attention.

and it really comes down to the fact that, like i said yesterday, there is just something about the fact that m/f or bi4bi m/f ships are not given the same attention as other ships within the fandom

TUGGER DOES WHAT--!?!

Here’s another pile of screenshots from the Jacob Brent fanpage! Misto vs Alonzo during ‘Gumbie Cat’ seems to be a recurring thing (Idk why they fight? It’s making me headcanon them as brothers lol)! I wish I would’ve been able to see it. Plus here’s some Carbucketty/Pouncival x Misto fluff! I must say, I really like these various versions of Jacob’s Misto! Reading it has been a delight. He’s playful and rowdy, but also has a serious side to him (based on what I’ve read from one of the reviews). He’s also a little FLIRT (he massaged Cassandra’s paws once, tried to flirt with Bomba, and was seen flirting with Tantomile?). I’m fond of his interactions towards the other cats because I didn’t see much of that in the 1998 version, which to be fair is only a movie with so much editing. I’d like to thank the people who created the fanpage for these reviews. <3 You guys rock, may your refrigerators always be full of food! T_T
