a little moment of connection between Demeter and Tantomile
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Petra Ilse Dam's Tantomile seems to understand Demeter very well—among other things, she picks up immediately on her unease about fake Deuteronomy, and reacts with aggression towards him.
(alternatively: Demeter realising she has no chance at getting between Coricopat and Tantomile and their twinsync.)
Jo Lucy Rackham covering Demeter, and Rhys Batten as Coricopat.
Vienna revival, 24/06/2022, filmed by @cryptidvoidwritings and @falasta.
(And if you're looking for that other ship in the background, it's giffed over here.)

Cute!

I found this footage a day too late for Greycat day, but look! She can have a little Bombashanks. As a treat.
And if we go with the theory that Grizabella isn't Munkustrap's mother but a former lover - look, there's another lovely triad on the other side! That sweet look Demeter gives her. Demeter's just so happy to have Grizabella and Munkustrap reconciled and to be able to show her the same love and acceptance that she found in the Junkyard..!
(Meanwhile Tuggoffelees...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is from an interview with some cast members on the closing night of the original London production. Tugger is John Partridge, Benjamin Tyrrell is Mistoffelees, Ross Finnie is Skimbleshanks, Alexis Owen-Hobbs is Bombalurina, Summer Strallen is Greycat, Barbara King is Demeter, Chrissie Hammond is Grizabella, and Jack Rebaldi is Munkustrap.

An underrated Kronides dynamic we don't often talk about is Hestia & Poseidon, or more rather Poseidon's one-sided proposal towards her:
Homeric Hymn 5 to Aphrodite 18 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C7th - 4th B.C.) :
"Nor yet does the pure maiden Histia (Hestia) love Aphrodite's works. She was the first-born child of wily Kronos (Cronus) and youngest too, by will of Zeus who holds the aigis,--a queenly maid whom both Poseidon and Apollon sought to wed. But she was wholly unwilling, nay, stubbornly refused; and touching the head of father Zeus who holds the aigis, she, that fair goddess, sware a great oath which has in truth been fulfilled, that she would be a maiden all her days. So Zeus the Father gave her a high honour instead of marriage, and she has her place in the midst of the house and has the richest portion. In all the temples of the gods she has a share of honour, and among all mortal men she is chief of the goddesses. Of these three Aphrodite cannot bend or ensnare the hearts."
First of all good move on Zeus to respect his elder sister's wishes (regardless of the type of ruler you see him as he was very fair in this situation), second it's interesting seeing the word sought, like it was a stubborn request on Poseidon's (and Apollo's) part up until Zeus gave his verdict. Also interesting is the supposed timing of these proposals, considering Apollo is his fellow rival it implies Apollo was an adult/old enough to seek Hestia out. If they sought Hestia at the same time, does that mean that a.) Poseidon wasn't married to Amphitrite yet? (In one way that's logically impossible if Triton's daughter Pallas is Athena's childhood friend, which implies Amphitrite and Poseidon married early enough to have Triton to be old enough to have Pallas) Or b.) that he was already married but would be willing to divorce Amphitrite if Hestia had said yes?
I like to think that Apollo and Poseidon's proposals happened in different time periods, Poseidon during or after the Titanomachy (in which Hestia just said no/would think about it and just never responded) and during Apollo's proposal is when Hestia asks Zeus to let her be a virgin goddess. (It just seems weird to me if a Poseidon- especially a married Poseidon- would just seek Hestia's hand out of the blue with no hint of intentions before, unless he specifically did that to compete with Apollo though that seems unlikely.)
It leaves me just asking why Poseidon wanted to marry Hestia. I personally think he wanted to marry her because he had a crush on her (the same way a kid would have a crush on an older girl in movies) and that he was a littleee bit jealous that Zeus and Hera were lovers/married and wanted a sister-wife for himself (which yes, incest is ew but this is greek mythology we HAVE to abandon the "incest is bad" metric when it comes to gods. Most of the gods during the Titan era married their sibling/cousin so Poseidon may have had a similar mindset).
Also kinda interesting that Poseidon loved Hestia and Demeter and was able to respect Hestia's wishes but not Demeter's. Smh bro.

As there is no motive for concealment, I am permitted to use them, and accordingly send you a rescript, simply omitting technical details of seamanship and supercargo. It almost seems as though the captain had been seized with some kind of mania before he had got well into blue water, and that this had developed persistently throughout the voyage. Of course my statement must be taken cum grano, since I am writing from the dictation of a clerk of the Russian consul, who kindly translated for me, time being short.
Interestingly, this is one of the few accounts (if not only) in the book that we know for a fact have been altered. Of course, we shouldn't totally discount the differences between shorthand vs. written English, but this is still another level. The captain's log as we know it has been translated from another language and had details removed. Those details were pretty much just technical jargon that wouldn't interest the average reader, but still.
Mr. Swales' talk of the (lack of) trustworthiness of the written accounts on the tombstones is a good prelude to this. And indeed we see the captain suspected of insanity, some even believing he was the killer, because ay least later parts of his account don't seem realistic. There are some really interesting discussions to be had about the trustworthiness of other people's stories, about the written word specifically, and how that relates to our experience as readers as well as the characters within the world.

ok so bianca lives au!
the stress of being inside talos causes bianca to accidentally shadow travel (which explains the lack of a body)
talos is defeated, just to clarify
the quest continues on, zoe dies, and percy gets back to camp and tells nico bianca is dead
nico in this version denies it because he can feel that she isn't, but the rest of that interaction follows canon
so meanwhile bianca is in the underworld and when she figures out how to control her shadow travel she gets back to camp the day after nico leaves
unfortunately she can't do much to help find him, but she does search while also rejoining the hunters
eventually she realizes he's in the underworld, but minos leads him away before she can get there
after that it's a game of cat and mouse
nico has been convinced that he's wrong and she's dead because that serves minos' goals better
so she tries to find them, minos keeps moving away, this goes throughout the labyrinth
at the same time annabeth, percy, grover, and tyson are on their quest and have been told to keep an eye out
they see nico at the ranch and try to tell him, but he refuses to listen
after percy kills geryon, annabeth manages to send an iris message
bianca shows up, there's the reunion/explanation, nico hates percy less, and since now he has a whole reason to not trust minos, he sends minos away.
nico doesn't want to go back to camp atm, so he stays at the ranch and bianca sticks around too
then the quest continues, calypso's island happens, annabeth and percy go back in with rachel's help, etc.
bianca shows up and helps them in daedalus' workshop (nico didn't have enough control to properly return minos to the underworld so he ended up sticking with some chthonic kids from the ta)
they escape, go to camp, where nico and that immortal ares kid who's name i don't remember join them, as do the hunters
so castor doesn't die
lee still does because reasons
tlo goes more or less the same except more powerful demigods = less deaths
also hades favors bianca so she stays in the underworld freeing up nico to assist the others
plus bianca and hades, demeter, and persephone show up earlier
alabaster will probably work his way into this b/c i love him
and he is a chthonic kid so maybe...
so there you have it! bianca di angelo lives. she's also scary.

I’ve been working on a retelling of Abduction of Persephone and there are things I might add here:
This might be a black comedy work (inspirations taken from The Good Place and other American/British comedy shows)
Persephone isn’t the “Goddess of Spring” but called and praised as one
Kore is Perse’s nickname
Hades’ design is based on Jemaine Clement (I kept imagining that)
Hades is sort of an antagonist in my retelling (he’s the main antagonist at first then became a supporting character)
Persephone wears in blue green motifs in the mortal realm
Perse wasn’t aware that she’s Zeus’ daughter until she and Hades had an argument about marriage
Perse and Hades’ relationship resembled Eleanor and Michael’s from The Good Place (their role are similar to architect but Hades focused a bit on parties and sometimes punishing)
Demeter isn’t an overbearing/overprotective mother but a cool mom to Perse and Dionysus (Perse and Dio are twins and they’re both Zeus’ kids)
Perse and Dem have no knowledge of Perse being married off to Hades (Dem was in the mortal realm when the arrangement happens)

ronan  harris  hadn't  taken  himself  into  the  public  to  practice  his  powers  ever.  his  surveying  and  reporting  was  always  done  in  a  secluded  area  or  in  the  midst  of  night,  measuring  and  analyzing  how  much  stronger  his  abilities  grew  or  how  much  he  can  handle  before  becoming  fatigued.
this  time,  the  man  decided  to  finally  show  his  face  to  the  training  pit  in  his  workout  clothes,  a  two-toned  compressed  shirt  hugging  his  frame  with  joggers  that  hardly  kept  anything  to  the  imagination.
he  knew  he  could  always  manipulate  it  but  instead,  ronan  focused  on  the  nearby  flowers  as  he  attempted  to  pluck  the  petals  of  its  contents  attempting  to  summon  the  liquid  to  his  fingertips.

Nionbaster AU, in which Nico and Alabaster are mortal lovers, and Aeon, a god. Aeon falls for and courts Nico, who refuses since he already has Alabaster. Aeon respects this and steps away, but he can't help watching over his mortal. Which is how he was there when Nico, badly bruised, injured and bleeding, slowly succumbed to his wounds, on the brink of death. Aeon makes the impulsive decision of making him immortal, which upsets Nico at first because he's under the impression that Aeon separated him from his mortal lover. However, Aeon pointed out that he was to be separated from Alabaster, regardless, and that in him being made immortal, he could still be with Alabaster. (Plus he couldn't bear to watch his mortal die) Aeon offered for him to become his consort, to which he agrees because he feels indebted to him, but under the condition that he was allowed to be with Alabaster. Which is how Nico ends up spending six months in the mortal plane, six months in the immortal plane. Eventually, he falls for Aeon as well while having feelings for Alabaster, and when Alabaster neared the end of his life, Nico offered him immortality as well in the same way Aeon saved him before.

Okay after that comic I tagged you in yesterday. I can't stop thinking of Hades using a crow to see through it's eyes and check on Persephone. And her noticing his energy in it and just smiling and sitting in front of it doing what she was. Then kissing the crows little head to let him know she knew before slipping away in to the woods. And you cut to Hades literally just a happy giddy little puddle of joy in the underworld 😂. Though who could blame him knowing his has the heart of such a beautiful and powerful creature all to himself 😌.
Lmaooo this is cute af!! Oh Hades being his romantic self xD and agreed, the joy she brings him is unparalleled ~
and of course she'd know, she'd sense his energy anywhere - those rascals are just one being split into two c:
i think that's one of the reasons why i love them so much - as different as they may be, they also are very much alike; their views and priorities and that fire within is the same.... they are equals through and through.
