I think the translation made it slightly better but honestly I still don't like it lol. If I had to describe to you just how much I hate romance endings outside of romance manga, I would tell you that it's my least favorite trope to the point that I feel like I kind of just wasted 6 years liking this series. Do I think it all looks nice? Yes. Do I have any problem with the ship? No. I just think that romantic endings are ass and I thought bnha would finally break free of the "MC gets the girl at the end" shit (before the extra chapter was announced) because I feel like there was no need for it to happen. It would've been great to see Ochako and Izuku moving on from Himiko and Tenko's deaths separately, but you know what makes it worse? Making that, of all things, a relationship thing. Not only did Horikoshi stick to the overdone shounen romance ending trope, he also used their grief as a plot device to encourage a romance. Those were like, the two biggest things I was afraid of when the main manga was still going. Andddd they happened. I'm gonna go read something else.

The fact that when Toga first uses Uraraka's Quirk, she looked all goopy and almost "incompatible" with Uraraka's appearance? And at that time she used said Quirk to kill?

But the second time she changes into Uraraka, she changes into her to save Uraraka's life and their faces are nearly seamless with each other?

Who's going to write that fic where Kurogiri secretly survived and timed himself to take Tomura somewhere else so everyone would think he was dead.

And then they went for Toga, because everyone would also believe she was dead.

And years later they went for Touya after a lot of planning on how to make his dead convincing.

So now they're all living in some mountain, trying to figure out how and when to take Compress and Spinner with them.

if we don’t get a post-war moment of inko and bakugo talking by deku’s bed and inko asking bakugo to keep looking after her son cuz she knows katsuki’s the only one who can keep him safe, and bakugo agreeing and smiling with determination cuz there is literally no way he’s NOT gonna protect the nerd. if we don’t see a scene like that then horikoshi obviously just forgot to add it to the final draft because i know this WILL happen.

we don't want izuku to be quirkless in the end blah blah blah, yeah i know. same.... but also, it could be cool.

imagine he still becomes a great hero, but quirkless? he's the first quirkless hero? and maybe that message is not one for mha to tackle, but hear me out:

what if his arc is him wanting so badly to have a quirk, getting one, learning that being a hero is inherent to himself and not attached to his quirk/abilities, giving his quirk up, AND still being a great hero? wouldn't that be awesome?!

i think that type of character trajectory is unique and interesting in and of itself. but i also know my personal experiences in life contribute to why i think it's cool. i became sick and chronically ill in my late-teens/early-twenties. i lost my health. over the past 5 years, i've regained a lot of it, but i'm not 100% better (and most likely will never be). i've had to go through the arduous process of accepting my physical limits through many iterations of functionality yet learning when i was actually being held back by mental limits/fears and how to push past those.

i relate to izuku's character on many levels: wanting so badly to have something i don't, trying so hard despite not having that thing, and getting that thing you wished so badly for seemingly out of the blue (for me, it was a medication that drastically improved my health). i also relate to his self-destructiveness in name of a goal and sense of (sometimes unwanted) martyrdom.

but i was always a little disappointed throughout the series in the fact that izuku's big problem at the beginning was just seemingly resolved by him getting his quirk from all might. does he view his quirkless self as worthy as his OFA self? we don't know. (do i view my sick self as worthy as my "healthy" self? i don't know.)

so, i just think, if izuku loses his quirk, there is more room for growth for him. in other words, he becomes more interesting. and i get it, this is a shonen manga, it's ending soon, and it's supposed to have an inspiring message (i assume). so maybe it ending with him being quirkless is not something that belongs in this category of manga/anime. but if any series can break the mold, isn't it mha?

at first they just accidentally see each other all the time at the hospital for their regular check-up, and they banter and bicker all the time. then they start texting each other and miruko is absolutely ruthless with jokes about katsuki’s obvious crush on his Best Friend and she becomes SO invested in bkdk’s development like😭😭

bakugo: Nah, me and Izuku are going to train together, so I’ll check in tomorrow.
