so, there was a but of a question on how ingo would be able to leave the moon if the in game character died due to the Frog (that is, apparently, what the monster that eats you at the end is called) but Kiwi had the brilliant idea of: what if there were Two monsters?

the eye you take a picture of in-game is rather different then the monster that kills you- so... Two Guys!

i kinda. ran with it.

(both of these were traced over straight from my sketchbook- so they are... messy. the concepts since then have also changed a bit, but i... have no clue where my other Frog drawing went- but here is the BEAST (name pending))

ive had this idea cooking in my little brain for a while and finally got around to doing it!!!

quick explanation here and the longer one coming when the story is more developed:

the general idea is that the lamb finds a cat that looks. way too similar to narinder. so obviously they do the most rational thing which is taking him to their cult and dressing him up like their god!! naryn is terrified of the lamb and forced into discipleship which leads to him trying to run away and then beat up which leads to him trying to run away and then beat up which lea

im slowly losing how i did the star thing.

we came up with the idea that it was a power source of some sort and that it exists because grain is a gardener divine (out in the wild, someone had to be taking care of the divine. hence, special-type divine that takes care of the others. the star thing provides warmth so that the gardener doesnt freeze overnight. these divines also have some combat abilities that im still ironing out, because i *assume* they were part of an ecosystem before. even regular divine are theoretically a threat if you walk into their pens. so. motions vaguely. grain can be too, but moreso.)

anyway.

grain exists down in the blacksite because the caretakers werent allowed to leave the facility until everyone else had evacuated. the last caretaker left alive, Circe Celian (praise be the naming conventions of canon game) who was injured when the facility originally went into lockdown, used the time she had left to create conditions in the garden that would allow a special-type divine to grow, so that it would take her place when she died. If she wasnt going to make it, the least she could do is give those who remain a chance at survival.

at the bottom of the ocean, oxygen is a limited resource.

Grains role, if he were actually in the game, would be to make rounds around the facility, dropping the corpses of dead expendables off in the gardens to be used as fertilizer. You can fill up oxygen tanks if you find him in the halls, or offer the corpses of your friends in exchange for protection until you reach any in-game milestone. If you find his prices to be too high, you can tell him stories of places outside the blacksite.

you'll have to hope he likes it, because if he doesnt, well.

he might just kill you when your back is turned.

youre most useful to him dead, after all.

Occasionally he runs into sebastian picking up expendables in exchange for ferryman tokens. there may have been a few times where grains been like "nah id win" and refused to hand over an expendable when asked. he has a job to do and the rest of you WILL die of oxygen deprivation if he cant get it done.

(in this au, hes eventually the only divine left, and seeing as he's mobile ((and the timelines been extended to several months)) he's the only way any expendable would ever make it to the outer edges of the facility alive. the rest were either killed or burned to death.)

vague color blocking. will probably change it later but im alright with this for now.

also if you just want to see the colors:

for the Frog i just cherry piked from the one colored thing we have of it, and for the Beast (name pending) i uh. wanted it to contrast so i moved it more towards blue/green color scale, and added bits of red like the Frog has bits of green. there uh. really wasn't much thought there but i think it looks kinda cool.

unintentionally also relating the Beast more towards the crocodile side of its inspiration. that was... definitely intentional haha!

Here’s the art piece I mentioned yesterday on the Colress' Locket post.

Without my mentioning and visual of it, you never would’ve known it was Colress next to N, huh?

Also, Colress can’t see properly (he still has bad eyesight), so relies on N to serve as his “eyes” (until he finds some glasses that can fit him, anyway.)

'nother wing au!hunter to showcase his wings post-flapjack; the coverts over his back are tinged red, though it doesn't spread far enough to be mistaken for actual cardinal wings. it didn't quite come out how i intended though lol

some hunter hcs while im here:

due to having caleb's human bones as opposed to a witch's hollow ones, the grimwalkers are all rather poor fliers and have extreme difficulty getting off the ground on their own. belos intentionally didn't even try to fix this when he noticed, as it makes them even more dependent on him and less likely to run away

as the golden guard, hunter prefers to work on the ground and mostly just spreads his wings for intimidation. he uses his wings heavily in hand-to-hand combat as a powerless witch, where others would rely on their own magic

hunter usually relies on his staff to get him into the air before taking off due to the aforementioned Heavy Bone Issues. the period between losing flapjack and carving waffle was especially difficult for this reason; luckily he usually had gus or willow around to help
