Inspired (Simspired?) by @pralinesims, because their post made me wonder how much stuff we put out in 2024--and wow. Amazing what can happen in a year! I went from just building, to recolors, to texture editing, to mesh editing, to conversions, to frankenmeshing my own stuff, all while grappling with my fickle health. This is probably the most project I've ever completed. I can hardly believe it.

Seeing everyone do the "sweet beginnings" tag is terrifying. Like, you guys have only been here since 2022?? Or 2021??? And I don't mean that in a "I've been here longer so I'm superior to you" way. It's just that, for some strange reason beyond my control, I assume that everyone who is older than me must have been on simblr longer than me, so therefore must have joined in 2019 at the latest. Which is very much not true. Idk why that's what my brain expects, but it's true. And it's even weirder given that I started posting when I was 15, and joined when I was 14. Obviously not everyone has spent 1/4 of their life on this hellsite. Or even just 5 years, period. And you shouldn't have. I probably shouldn't have. But it's still weird to think about.

The Simblr Cycle

Paid creator acts up for the 19348th time, site-wide outrage

Everyone pissed off about paid creator

Vague appreciation posts for free CC creators (but they still get fuck-all in terms of reblogs or exposure)

Everyone points out the fact there are places to get this paid CC for free

Paid creator releases new set, gets thousands of reblogs and everyone is putting it on their sims and in their houses and on their Simblrs and basically doing free advertising

Free CC creators go back to getting fuck-all in terms of interaction

For a site full of people obsessed with the ideal of a person who does no wrong, y’all are sure as shit in love with the people who cannot do anything right whilst the good folk get bugger-all!

When do people stop paying shitty creators and when do these same people stop freely advertising for them as well? 💀 And when it comes to when they fuck up, you know what they say about there being no such thing as bad pubilicity. There’s no way these people will actually be booted from the community because of the price tag making it look more special and desirable, and because people refuse to check out places like Rebels and DHM where you can get all this shit for free.

They can do whatever the fuck they like at this point because the callouts will only summon their white-knights and the rightful reblogged callouts and warnings will only get them more advertising - because most people only care about pretty desirable things and for whatever reason will gladly tolerate shitty business practices from these people.

So many decent folk and passionate folk in this community get nothing except empty vague mass reblogged messages about how much people love their creations whilst the scamming cunts get all the constant attention and advertisement. And all free creators get is pitiful exposure, none of the excited ‘look at this cool CC so and so made!’ and all they get is taken advantage of by paid creators. Don’t be surprised if even more free creators like myself leave the community because they’re tired of it. Scammers in the Simblr or wider CC community and thieves have fucked this up for everybody. Paid content has ruined the TS4 community, but at the same time the whole community almost revolves around it despite it.

Everyone talks about how people making stuff for free or just doing stories and challenges are the backbone of this community and then it entirely becomes about the paid creators. Again. And again and again and again, and it’s never-ending.

EDIT: Please stop following my account since I am a retired creator who doesn’t upload anymore. I appreciate it but I am no longer posting Sims content to my blog. You are welcome and encouraged to reblog my Gaza / Sudan fundraisers reblogs however.

The funny part is, I got more notes on this one rant post in 3 days than I did across most of my actual Sims content for months, with the exception of 1 or 2 semi-popular pose packs, lmao. Like I said, paid creators run the place at this point. This entire community revolves around paid creators and awful business practice and behaviour now, and with TS5 cancelled they’re here to stay for a much longer time than we’d hoped for. Good luck to all of the gameplayers, storytellers and free creators. You’re going to need it.

Since this post is getting so much traction, let's be outraged about something more important for the New Year - the ongoing genocide, war and famine that a lot of people have conveniently forgotten about. Don't turn your back just because it isn't happening in your country / to people like you / to people you know or can relate to / because you're too busy pointing out others not doing enough when you yourself are doing nothing.

Donate to a fundraiser for someone in the middle of war, genocide, or famine.

Hi! I'm an anonymous asker who sometimes sends fellow simmers questions. "Simblr Question of the Day" is something I saw going on around September '23 and I wanted to revive this "trend"!

ive been thinking a lot, and outside of the amazing circle of people i interact with, im at a point where i no longer enjoy simblr. a lot of it feels like walking on eggshells so you don't get an inbox full of shitty comments and people pearl clutching at things they don't like.

ive felt this way for a while now, but after being harassed on multiple occasions, along with people i am close too also being subjected to continued harassment, which is STILL going on, i want to be here less and less. it's fucking frustrating.

im not deleting my blog and I will not stop making CC, but I'm also not going to be very active otherwise. Maybe this will change in the future.

Do you remember the 80's? Boy, I do! ...like totally! ...But the 1980's were more than just neon colors, big hair, Madonna, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, MTV, righteous toys, and most excellent games like Nintendo and Pac-Man. It also had it's own awesome iconic building style - postmodern "contemporary" architecture (which is, sadly, no longer contemporary today.) Houses from the 80's often present asymmetrical facades, geometric shapes, unusual rooflines, and stone accented features against a mix of vertical and diagonal wood siding. It is an eclectic mix of patterns, fer shure.

This build was a request from Testarossasosa on Tumblr. Their request was what started me down this path - for the whole "The 80's Called" series. LOL!

can i just word vomit for a min...

there was a point in late 2023 where i felt like i overstayed my welcome on simblr and i planned on just wrapping frozen pines up as quickly as possible and moving on. continuing to write when it's clear that the audience for it is dwindling felt so embarrassing that i almost didn't even want to put effort into it anymore, because i was afraid it just looked pathetic (obligatory disclaimer: no one made me feel this way, you're all so lovely, it's just the nature of seeing a community change over 7 years). writing already feels very personal to me and it's becoming increasingly harder for me to put my work out there (again, for reasons unrelated to simblr and entirely related to mental illness 🤙🏻). i know my story is so long that it deters new readers, and so sporadic that it makes old readers drop off with time. this has really been bothering me lately because i don't know what i can do to fix it. i don't think there IS anything i can do.

but. okay. don't make fun of me for saying this. dan and phil returning to youtube kinda changed my mindset? they may be pulling a fraction of the views they got in their peak, but they're happier than they've ever been and they're working on things they actually want to do, not things they think will be particularly popular. seeing that has made me realize that it is possible to keep finding joy in a community that has largely moved on without you. obviously my little blog is nowhere near the same scale, so this feels kind of silly, but i've been thinking about all the things i used to do on simblr that were never fun for me, i mainly did them because i knew they would get notes or because i felt like i had to do it. making cc, lookbooks, sim requests, reshade help (oh my god the reshade help), lot downloads, etc. they DID get notes, but i can't imagine spending my time doing any of that stuff ever again tbh.

on top of that, it makes me sad to scroll through my dash and realize that i don't recognize most of the people i see anymore. i still talk to some wonderful people here who i consider friends and that's invaluable to me (💖), but the broader community aspect is something i no longer feel a part of. and believe me, i know i'm at fault here because it's not like i'm going out of my way to talk to new people or participate in trends like i used to. i don't blame anyone except the passage of time!!

frozen pines, and simblr by extension, played such a gigantic part in my life when i needed it the most. and that's not to say that i don't still care about it, because i absolutely do, but it's a different kind of feeling. i've always promised that i would give frozen pines a satisfying conclusion rather than silently abandoning it someday, and though i do intend to keep that promise, i know it's possible that i might never get there. but i don't want to let my own insecurities get in the way of something i really enjoy doing. writing is an intrinsic piece of me that i'll never quit doing, but sharing my writing on tumblr is something that can't (and shouldn't) last forever. i know that. but i'm going to enjoy it to the fullest while we're all still here together 💞

to anyone who's still reading my silly story after all these years (especially those of you who still check in on my blog even though you're not on simblr anymore): thank you thank you thank you THANK YOUUU. you don't have to change a single thing about what you're doing. this is not me fishing for compliments or putting down an ultimatum, this is just me trying to make sense of my feelings.

but with all this being said, i've decided to quit simblr and start my own exclusive streaming service for $60 a year, i hope you'll all support me as i increase my production value 😌

hello everyone! 👋🏽 you can call me liss (she/her), I am 25 y/o from europe. I´ve been on tumblr/simblr before but I had a longer break (at least three years I think), and now that I have more free time and thankfully a new computer I´m very excited to be back in this community! 💕

First era: active simblrs

The first order of business here is to reblog all the content that was made and is being made by simblrs that are still active members of this community.

This does mean there will be a queue as I go through people's blogs and posting their CC on here, and it might get spammy so I apologize in advance. But hey, look on the bright side, maybe you'll find some old CC of that one creator you really like that you haven't seen before! You never know 😘

Second era: inactive simblrs

The second phase will involve digging a little deeper into other CC finds blogs and reblogging older content from simblrs that are no longer active parts of the community

Third era: separate blogs and wix-sites

Third phase will be to dig even deeper on individual websites of older creators. There will be separate posts made on the CC they released with as much relevant information as possible.

Fourth era: Mod the Sims

Next in the line up I will be going through Mod the Sims and making separate posts on this blog with all the information that is available. I will not be doing this for every post on the site, just the ones that are qualitatively good and/or useful, this includes programs.

Fifth era: The Sims Resource

It has to happen at some point sadly, so The Sims Resource will be scoured for all relevant posts. I will not be including everything that is on there, because there is a lot of frankly ugly and low quality stuff on there from the early years, but I will again be making separate posts for TSR sets and items of quality.
