i'm being so serious when i say that this book warped my perception of what any sort of relationship should look like. is it healthy to want to exclusively feel soul-crushing love for the friends you choose or to know you would absolutely give up every single piece of yourself to them if they asked? probably not, but nothing else feels worth any effort and maggie stiefvater is to blame for that.

rereading bllb part 3:

adam spending the entire book thinking he is alone and unknowable then realizing that ronan truly does know him, maybe more than he knows himself

love that adam, gansey, and ronan cover the entire spectrum of types of assholes

Yes Ronan’s flirting technique would be dubious with anyone else but have to say he really does quite well with tailoring the flirting / wooing game for Adam specifically. Very correct call about taking him to the Barns so Adam can swoon over it and see Ronan in that space embodying the things about it he admires, and then he assigns him research and calls him smart because he saw how that worked on Adam when Gansey did that and also has freshly witnessed Adam’s teacher kink when it comes to his dad’s murderer. All I’m saying is he was taking notes on things that weren’t Latin.

Hey so I’m rereading the raven cycle and the parallels in the ways Adam and Ronan look out for each other?? Fucking INSANE. Like the ACUTE similarities between how Ronan responds to Adam’s grief over Persephone (sitting down next to him on the porch; ‘I don’t want to talk’ ‘the fuck would I talk about?’) and how Adam responds to Ronan’s grief over Aurora’s death (getting into the car with him; ‘are you coming in?’ ‘no’ ‘wake me if you need to’)?? The way they comfort each other just through their presence and comfortable silence?? I am UNWELL about these books.

(I’m sure there’s more examples but this is what we’re getting today)

Henry is actually so valid for trauma dumping on Gansey the first chance he gets. Them bonding over their childhood traumas. True friendship was born in that hole in the ground and everyone who still doesn’t accept Henry as a part of the Gangsey is wrong and delusional

for me, the great thing about the gangsey is that i can never pick a favorite because they all are equally great characters. there's gansey, the awesome one who has a weird obsession with dead, welsh kings... then there's ronan—gay icon, deeply religious, edgy, and the guy with the best supernatural ability ever. along with him comes adam, the (kind of) overlooked one who suffers from self-doubts, and unresolved trauma. and then you have noah, the dude who died long ago (and unsuccessfully lied about it), but still has the best attitude. and blue sargent—fashion icon, feminist, and mystic teen—basically collected them all.

their friendgroup is so unique (and chaotic), and i love it.
