ships that make me go absolutely insane
Ranked from most insane to least
EREMIN (AoT: Eren x Armin)
the entire time I'm watching them my brain is "they're just like me fr" they make me feel as if I'm tearing apart. Oh the shared dream, the ruin, the raw honesty cutting through layers of deception, the way they end - it's too much. I saw myself so much in their dynamic something about queer childhood friends to lovers. something about living in that in-between...also aspec Eren real. You have NO IDEA how much analysis I've written about them. The slow corruption of their shared dream, the way Armin knew Eren best, the way Eren looks at Armin :( "And in the corner of your eye / I saw a dream that never died" - Aurora
Catradora (SPoP: Catra x Adora)
First canon queer ship I watched <3 both healing and painful at the same time, it tapped into something deep I had forgotten long ago. The sort of relationship where you're really close but there's a gap you both feel and won't address for fear of your own feelings and about losing each other (both eremin & catradora) but then they're able to actually close it!! To see each other as they are! Do you understand how much hope that offers?! To be seen and be told your fate is not tragic? I have also written so much analysis about them. "You're the only friend I need / Sharing beds like little kids / And laughing 'til our ribs get tough / But that will never be enough" - Lorde
Cassunzel (TTS: Cass x Rapunzel)
*gasp* a ship that isn't queer childhood besties to lovers? But bro the YEARNING. Oh it hurts so bad. Also the aesthetic is simply divine. I'm ranking it here because it was very impactful for me some years ago, though I'm not into it enough right now to deliver a thorough explanation. Also I'm pretty sure Cass is a canon lesbian? Massive W. idk, something about shipping noncanon queer ships that gets me. "I'm sick of the sun / Can't trust anyone" - Poppy
Nuts n Dolts (RWBY: Penny x Ruby)
Idk they just cared for each other so tenderly and then Penny died twice and Ruby couldn't save her either time. Ow ow ow. THE doomed yuri. I love to hc both of them as aspec, & both are very neurodivergent-coded (because that is what I am). I'm drawn to the comfort, security, warmth, and the angst. There's also just something very bright in their relationship that draws me in, similarly to eremin. seeing each other in such a golden light while resenting themselves perhaps? the way they look at each other & hold each other so dear? "A chance to share the world / To be a girl who finally felt alive" - Friend, RWBY
Bumbleby (RWBY: Blake x Yang)
Holy shit the yearning! Blake abandoning Yang AND THEN COMING BACK AND STAYING. Protecting each other :') Healing together. It's just so sweet and powerful I can't help but adore it. I remember watching the first 2 seasons when I was little before I knew gay people existed, and shipping them even then. ngl I really want to go rewatch earlier seasons through a sapphic angst/yearning lens. "I made a vow, I'm not alone / Not dying now, we're protecting our own" - Nevermore, RWBY

This is my personal preference/opinion and a head-canon I would really like to see in volume 10, but I would really like to see each member of team RWBY to individually receive training from the other 3 maidens, in preparation to fight against Cinder and ultimately Salem.
Team RWBY are amazing as a team, but with their past experiences and losses against a certain maiden, and “magic” in general, I feel now is a good time for them to learn on how to better handle against “magic” users.
And with potentially Winter, Spring and Summer being in the same place, there in no better opportunity to learn about “magic” then right now….
So to begin with the most obvious pairing….
Weiss and Winter:
One reason I would like to see these two train together is that it could play into Winter’s fear of losing Weiss again. She would want her sister to be ready for anything and practices with Weiss relentlessly. Weiss would more then love to have Winter train her, but it could possibly lead to uncomfortable tension between the two as Winter pushes Weiss more and more.
This could inevitably lead to Whitley, Willow, and Klein cutting between the two sisters and have the whole Schnee family go into probably their first heart to heart conversation with each other, since the fall of Atlas, and begin building the new foundations of the Schnee family moving forward.
Now for the next pairings, be prepared, I’m throwing curve balls at you….
Blake and Yang, with the Summer Maiden:
Now for this pairing I have to give a little a context. I am under the same camp of people who theorized that each maiden has a “connection” to each member of team RWBY.
Ruby - Cinder (enemies)
Weiss - Winter (sisters)
Yang - Raven (mother/daughter)
If we follow this train of thought then it would be easy to assume that the Summer Maiden might have a “connection” with Blake. I’m imagining that whoever the Summer maiden is that they could have a much better working relationship with Blake, compared to the other girls.
Now for the reasons I included Yang together with Blake are actually fairly simple…..except for one.
Yang is actually one of the most fairly easiest people to get along with. If the Summer Maiden is who I think it is then they would no doubt love to train together with Yang, along side with Blake.
After the official Union of “Bumblebee” in volume 9 and after how much their teamwork has synced near perfectly, it’s almost impossible to see them apart now.
The Summer Maiden would no doubt train them individually of coarse, and both Blake and Yang could give each other pointers on how to get better at a certain topic that one another is lacking on.
Now I said there was one other reason that Yang would be training with Summer Maiden, and that is because of her mother Raven. Obviously the two have a discomforting relationship with each other, so before things could start mending between the two of them I can imagine they would keep their distance from each other for most of their time in Vacuo.
Now for the last pairing you are definitely going to be asking yourself “Why?”…..
Ruby and Raven:
To me……I believe that after what Ruby had experienced back in the Ever-After, she will begin to experience a “change” within herself to have a strong desire to be better, and to be stronger then what she currently is. A desire to better focus on the aspects of herself that she feels that need to be approved upon, without the burdens of responsibilities weighing down upon her.
I imagine Raven would see this “desire” building up within Ruby and oddly feel reminiscent to how she felt back in her younger days, and find a particular kinship with her former partner’s daughter, and agree to train Ruby.
Not only that but I can also imagine Ruby would feel immense pent up aggression, in regards challenging against Cinder, and Raven would be a fitting teacher for Ruby.
Raven has several years of training as maiden and would no doubt know certain “tricks” to utilize against another maiden. She also has first hand experienced fighting against Cinder and actually won between the two.
Another reason why Raven and Ruby would be together is because of their connection with Summer Rose. There is obviously something building up to happen between the two, after what was discovered in Volume 9, so it seems fitting that putting these two together is a must definite story-wise.
I obviously know that something like this may not actually happen when we finally get into Volume 10 and Vacuo (#GREENLIGHTVOLUME10), but I would find it amazing to have training arc like this to happen for team RWBY, especially for future battles to come.
What do y’all think? Would you be interested in seeing a joint training session between the maidens and team RWBY in Volume 10???

With the recent episode having been released many shippers are saying this was the proof that Nuts and Dolts was canonized. Via through Ruby’s actions towards Penny’s sword and her speech about her. What are your thoughts on it?
Personally I never saw their relationship as romantic. Their interactions to me have always been things that friends just do. Now if they acted like Blake and Yang I would be more convinced but I just don’t see the romance shippers claim is there with them.
But then again I am aroace so romance is lost on me sometimes, maybe I just don’t understand that aspect but I always valued their friendship more.
Hello there anon-chan.
Speaking for myself here--- while I’ve been fond of the close dynamic between Ruby and Penny in the past, I too share in your opinions of never once perceiving their relationship to be anything more than simply platonic.
Similar to Whiterose, I’ve never one gotten romantic vibes from neither Penny nor Ruby. That’s just never been the nature of their relationship as portrayed in the show.
Penny and Ruby are friends. Heck, I’ll even go as far as to say that Penny was more of a best friend to Ruby than Weiss who was supposed to fit that role.
There is no doubt that Ruby cared deeply about Penny. Ruby was literally the first friend that Penny ever made. Even Penny’s theme that was featured for the first time at the end of V8 was titled “Friend” and was clearly about her friendship with Ruby.
Ruby and Penny are friends and always will be.
Ruby’s expression of her from today’s episode doesn’t change that; at least in my opinion. Penny was someone important to Ruby. Not as a lover or even a crush. Just a very dear friend she clearly loved and has now lost.
And the reason why Penny’s death is deeply affecting Ruby right now in the story is because, for the second time, Penny has been killed while Ruby was far away completely powerless to prevent it from happening.
We already saw how much Penny’s death deeply impacted Ruby the first time based off of what she told Oscar back in V5 and how the imagery of Penny’s murder at the Vytal Festival acted as a mental block to Ruby using her silver eyes on the Leviathan back in V6.
Now it’s happened all over again and unlike the last time, Penny is gone for good this time.
Ruby failed to protect her friend AGAIN! So it’s no surprise that it would eat at her both emotionally and psychologically.
But like with everything else that has happened, Ruby will attempt to bottle her emotions up for the sake of not giving into her unhappiness. Her negative emotions.
What Ruby is feeling right now for Penny is grief. The pain of losing someone who meant something to you.
Yes, Ruby cared a lot for Penny. I’ll go as far as to say that Ruby may have even loved Penny. But that doesn’t signify that Ruby was ever in love with Penny and vice versa. There’s a difference.
Basically what I’m saying in a nutshell is not all forms of love and incredibly deep connections are romantic only. Platonic love exists and that’s what I believe we’re seeing with Nuts and Dolts. Penny was one of Ruby’s most dearest friends so it makes sense for her death to hit her. Doesn’t mean there’s any romantic intentions behind it.
Anyone who thinks otherwise…well, that’s their opinion. And this is mine.
As someone who has become completely exasperated by the nonsensical nature of the shipping wars that go down in the RWBY community, I am sincerely not interested in digging up any dead horses and having debates/arguments with any shippers about the probability of their ship being canon or not. Despite being a romantic and have a gigantic shipping heart myself, I’m just so tired of shipping drama when it comes to RWBY. It’s not fun. It’s just so tiresome to listen to which is why I’ve disconnected myself from it entirely.
That being said, if the Nuts and Dolt shippers wish to claim today’s episode as a so-called “win” for their favourite pairing as they attempt to cling to any tiny remnants of it, then let them have their fun, I guess.
Bottomline, I don’t see Ruby’s speech about Penny confirming anything. Once more, I think the shippers are merely overexaggerating things to help rationalize their push behind their favourite ship while completely ignoring the actual context of the scene in the show.
To me, Nuts and Dolts is, was and always will be just a really good FRIEND-ship that ended in tragedy.
Nothing was confirmed (except Penny being the catalyst to Ruby’s eventual emotional breakdown to come later in the season).
Ruby and Penny’s “romance” isn’t canonized at all because their romance never existed to begin with.
Today’s episode does not change that. Ruby’s speech about Penny from today was not a proclamation of romantic love.
Just a girl clearly in pain sharing nothing but sincere words of admiration for her deceased friend while trying to keep things together and not crumble under the weight of how sad and angry she is about that.
It was like listening to Ruby give a eulogy for Penny at the funeral she never got to have rather than a love confession. What about that is romantic?
At least that's how this squiggle meister sees it.
In order to change my stance on this, I would actually need to hear Ruby Rose say in the show that she loved Penny Polendina as more than just a friend and not like family either.
And that’s NOT what happened in today’s episode.
Those are my thoughts on that. Hope I answered your question anon-chan.

RWBY is really, REALLY good at queer romances, but my WORD the writers cannot write a convincing het relationship except by accident.
Jaune/Weiss: Weiss is completely uninterested in Jaune on account of him spending the first season and a half sexually harassing her, but the SECOND he's twice her age (and the same age as his voice actor, who also happens to be one of the head writers), she suddenly COMPLETELY forgets that she just lost her home and wants nothing more than to be his housewife.
Lie Ren/Nora Valkyrie: Lie Ren is HEAVILY coded as a aromantic, to the point that this couple's first kiss consisted of Nora forcing a kiss on him right after he blatantly said that he didn't want to discuss the possibility of a romantic relationship with her. While Nora learns in the next season that she shouldn't base her entire personality around being Ren's girlfriend, said season ALSO implied that the sexual assault was partially Ren's fault because he was too busy repressing his own feelings to realize he was in love with the girl who I honestly think he should just see as a sister at this point.
Blake Belladonna/Yang Xiao Long: One of the best slow burn romances I've ever seen, starting with Yang using "I want to help my sister make friends" as an excuse to flirt with the mysterious girl she laid eyes on five seconds after she tried and failed to force herself to be attracted to boys. Yang makes Blake feel safe, comforts her, unknowingly helps her realize that the way her ex-boyfriend treated her was wrong. They realistically work through their issues after their not-break-up in Volume 3 and awkward reunion in Volume 5's finale. They have the most romantic first kiss ever an in-universe day after Blake watched Yang fall to her apparent death and realized she didn't want to risk losing the chance to get her feelings off her chance. Yang can absolutely fake flirt when she wants to bait information out of someone but can't form a coherent system when Blake makes a mildly flirtatious comment.
Terra/Saphron: They're a reference to the island that produced the word "lesbian", and are a happily married couple with a beautiful baby boy. While extremely minor characters who've only appeared in a handful of episodes (and were only really important to the final arc of Volume 6), they are very much relationship goals with their limited screen time.
See what I mean? Without the context of the canon queer couples, you'd think it was EXTREMELY heteronormative based off of how the two official m/f couples are written, but NO! It's WEIRD!!!
I'm sorry Jaune/Weiss is a thing? Like. In Canon?
Sorry I just. I am nowhere near caught up with this show I only watched maybe the first volume and heard plot points by proxy but I did not think that was a genuine ship that sounds like a ship that is like a kinda side rarepair.

Behind the Scenes / Meta Commentary on RWBY: Amity Mega Thread.
I kinda want to take this time to and make a post detailing the kinda behind the scenes and processes that I went through while making this fanfic.
It’s nearing a full year that I’ve been working on this (the anniversary is June 1st I do believe). So I kinda. Just want to have a place to share and ramble on about what goes on inside my head while writing.
I started this fic when I was fresh out of high school and I have been struggling through college. The first 10 months was spent purely note taking. I was bing watching FRWBY and started to compare it to canon. Mostly V1-4 that is. Some parts of canon I really loved, such as the food fight or the Tyrian fight, or the lore. Man the lore is still something I think has me hooked to RWBY to this day. Of course this was a time when V8 was the last bit of RWBY content, so I was very not happy with the state of the show. So, I decided to write my own rewrite!
It was full of cliques and most of it took things either directly from FRWBY, canon, or other rewrites. This would become apparent to me down the line but for the first 3 months, it was nothing but making an outline for everything I needed.
It was a 10 Volume plan, structured into episodes that I would use as chapters. I think it was about 20 “episodes” per volume and it followed canon very closely. I only managed to write up an outline for one chapter, the very first one, and it was basically Salem and Ozpin’s talk from V1E1 mixed into the color trailers. It kinda worked out well because the last line of “a more simple soul” lined up with Ruby’s appearance in the Yellow Trailer. I also used the fractured moon as a transition, to really allow everything to feel connected. I had all of the color trailers happening in a single night, which looking back still feels like a cool idea.
Some parts of the original draft/notes have managed to remain a thing to this day. AroAce Ruby, Qrow being Ruby’s dad, Cardin being saved by Velvet, and Pietro and Maria having Ciel as their daughter are a few that come to mind.
Some more notable parts were scrapped when I later reworked the story into an AU. The Bees happening in V6, Summer turning out to be alive in the end, and Ironwood heroically sacrificing himself to slow down Salem. Some of those even if I wanted to keep now, would have no place in the story I’ve crafted today.
A story, with plots that I have planned out. The original draft didn’t have that until V9 and V10. The rest of it was basically canon retold. V1 ends fighting Torchwick, V2 ends with the Breach, V3 ends with the Fall of Beacon, etc. Anything else “original” was a long list of head canons that took up over 100 pages on Google Docs. My notes were all over the place and some conflicted with others.
I believe it was October that I decided to move from a rewrite to an AU. That was also the time that all of the stuff about RT came out and made me look back at some of the things I was going to include in my fic and made me realize: “Well I’m just repeating things that I find problematic in the show in my fic so am I really improving or changing anything?” That along with the lack of original ideas and direction made me sit down and get to work reforming my fic.
Before I get into that I want to mention that I did V9 both in a good and bad way. The good is that I really focused on each member of RWBY in the Ever After. Ruby with her role as a leader, Weiss with losing Atlas, Blake with feeling like she betrayed the Faunus, and Yang not feeling like she was able to protect those who she cared about. They all would talk and work together to help each other get back to Remnant and work through their problems. The bad is that half of the Volume was Ever After, and the other half was in Remnant following several factions across all of Remnant trying to gain support for the final battle at Beacon. So it was all over the place and no one got time to truly shine. Also I think this was the time that V9 was beginning to be teased so I was also trying to quickly add in details to an already messy Volume.
Step 1 was to organize my notes, which I did over the course of October to December(2022). November I spent diving into the wiki and this is where my 300+ characters came from. Worst part is? That the wiki has 400+ characters, I had to combine names and cut down a bit to make sure that everyone fit into four person teams. It’s closer to 200-250+ characters subtracting the major ones like Ruby or Coco or Whitley, etc. The rest were character names on Qrow’s scroll in V4, the huntsman boards in V7, and obscure mentions in books and side content. These names are mostly made up of those who worker on RWBY the same way game devs will include their names to plaques or memorials in games. To this day, I only have 12 of these characters figured out. Most characters are in Mistral with the least being in Vacuo. Can you guess which one I did first?
But yeah, that should be it for the start of this AU fic/project/thing. I will try my best to continue adding to this in the future.

This is one of my hypotheticals, with the caveat that the thought of Jaune and Cinder with anybody else makes me cry and throw things - but I can put it aside for a moment.
So you all don't see the sort of stuff I get in my inbox, and before Tumblr changed its rules there was someone who left a lot of spam about Jaune/Ruby. I hope he's okay after Volume 9. But the irony of it, of course, is that he viewed me as an enemy when Jaune/Ruby - with the stipulation of developing the Penny Problem properly, which they didn't (for the purposes of romance, I mean) - is the only other plausible Jaune ship I think I could tolerate in canon.
That's partly because Cinder-Ruby and Jaune-Oscar are twinned already - the first two even more prominently, but Jaune/Cinder and Ruby/Oscar are effectively edgy and light versions of each other as pairings - and partly because it avoids that gross replacement goldfish implication of Pyrrha warming Weiss' spot. I also like the development of their interactions generally, and if you leant in a much darker direction (like the Ruby/Oscar relationship necessitates at some point) with Jaune in particular then it could be made to work.
It wouldn't and couldn't be classic guy-gets-girl, foregone conclusion from the minute they meet type stuff - I think to be tonally true it has to be playful like the other canon pairings, in a bittersweet fashion. Blake/Yang and Ren/Nora both go in unlikely directions; Jaune/Ruby would need to be a similar case. But the interesting thing is that as much as I'm attached to Jaune/Cinder (OTP for life, my favouritest ship to ever ship, the ship I have been searching for all of my life), I am partly attached to it because of the way R/WBY conceives of romance, and I'm making an argument for it on the basis of R/WBY, not on the sole basis of my personal desires and preferences. That would mean that if they wrote Jaune/Ruby well, it's probably the only other pairing for them both that could actually be done... well, without completely losing the plot tonally and thematically. But then you start crunching the numbers with both Oscar and Cinder and we're kind of up shit creek structurally. But if you went into writing R/WBY with the intention of keeping the character arcs for both Jaune and Ruby mostly as-is, it's almost applicable. Almost!
But it's not really because it's cute or because it meets the bland conception of romance which is guy and girl look at each other and boink. It actually has to be an actual experience of romantic love and realise their character arcs and narrative role in the story.... similarly to Jaune/Cinder and Ruby/Oscar, it would have to be a slow-burn and basically seem impossible for a long time, especially with The Penny Problem. Actually, when you think about it, The Penny Problem basically had the potential to be what The Pyrrha Problem was for Jaune/Cinder, but if you're rewriting this for Jaune/Ruby you'd have to rewrite that, too. But it does tickle me that Jaune and Cinder are alike that way.
Now - spitting the dummy aside about the implication of Jaune and Cinder not ending up together - I do find it funny that I had so many asks about Jaune/Ruby (there were legions of them in response to multiple posts I had made about Knightfall, suggesting somebody was very upset and anxiously awaiting my response) when like, yeah I think if you tilted your head it might have once been possible. I don't think it is at all or was ever intended as such - and certainly not for the reasons this aggrieved individual believed - but don't ever think I'm not trying to give credit where it's due. I'm willing to entertain the other side... on my own terms when people aren't being annoying. (:
But ironically the similarities of Jaune/Ruby to Jaune/Cinder (and Ruby/Oscar by extension) actually kind of justifies by extension the reading of those pairings. Because Jaune/Cinder is on crack and edgy and fun and the Jaune-Ruby friendship clearly sets up part of its drama (and emotion). Which is why I love making a case like this, because it makes me reconsider canon and reconsider my position on the pairings I think are going to be canon. I don't ship Ruby/Oscar (not yet at least) and I think considering why Jaune/Ruby could conceivably work teases out why Ruby/Oscar conceivably can work - if it goes the direction Penny couldn't - and that Jaune and Oscar are similar in that the romance with either of them, and especially the latter, has to be divorced from the schools in some way, and Ruby's sense of Huntressing and related to something deeply personal.
Anyway Jaune/Cinder 4 lyfe.

Option on RWBY ships:
Btw, I don’t usually ship characters. Romance is usually the least interesting part of the story for me so expect a lot of meh.
Arkos: obviously I love this, it’s perfect
Blacksun: ehh, it’s cute. I started out feeling kinda meh, it was sweet but not really interesting, but now it’s growing on me. Ironically the same thing is happening with Bumblebee, although I still like Blake and Yang better platonically
Bunanas: so this is a ship between Velvet and Sun, and it’s honestly really cute to imagine even if it is completely random. I like it better then Blacksun…I think?
Candy Cane: this is just weird. I can’t imagine Nora being anything but a older sister to Oscar. The age gap makes it creepy too, not the four years is much of a gap, but when your teenagers it’s a big gap.
Chocolate Arc: this is hilarious to imagine but obviously yeah, Coco isn’t going to fall for someone like Jaune
Cinnabun: I barely know anything about Yatsuhashi but he and Velvet are cute, I guess? Still like her better with Sun
ClockRose: heck no!
Coconuts: again, can’t see Sun doing anything but annoying Coco. I really don’t like the whole ‘badass jerk of a girl falls for goof ball trope.’ It always ends up feeling sexist in several ways
Combat Boots: honestly outside of an AU I can’t see Yang ever forgiving Mercury much less falling in love with him. Also Mercury just doesn’t deserve her
Combat goggles: I feel like Yang and Neptune would have fun causally dating each other and slowly realizing they actually like (Blake/Sun/Jaune/whoever) and become each other’s wingmen. That fanfic better be lying around somewhere
Crimson Lotus: okay, if I didn’t love Renora and Rosegarden so much I’d probably ship this. It’s really cute
Crimson Sun: this feels like an excuse to write lemons of the two hottest characters
Crimson wings: look I understand most of the shipping heroes with villains because they’re both hot and the villain/hero dynamic is always fun. But Cardin…he’s not even hot. He’s not even interesting. And yet people ship him with Ruby? Why?
Daddie Issues: you know I see where this is coming from but they would just end up murdering each other.
Dairy Farm: obviously this is downright creepy in cannon, but in an au where Neo isn’t evil and both are closer in age, this would be adorable. I feel like Neo’s main problem is she’s incredibly lonely—other then Roman no one bothers to understand or talk to her. If Oscar reached out to her, and she began to protect him…it would be perfect. In way even better then Rosegarden because I think Neo would still be a bit of pycho even when good, and it would be fun to see her lose it when Salem hurts him.
Ilia/Adam: I just want to say I am forever grateful the show went out of its way to avoid this obnoxious, cliche ship from being canon
Dragon slayer: I see why people ship Jaune and Yang, I really do. They’re both the team mom/dad of their team, they’ve got the whole goofball/badass thing going (which is a trope I do like when the badass isn’t a jerk), they both have a good sense of humor, etc. But I just can’t see them as romantic. It feels really weird. I can’t even explain why. I understand shipping them but I really can’t ship them myself.
Emercury: I really love this ship, but I also don’t mind at all if the show decides to make them platonic. I enjoy their relationship in general and it works either way.
Oscar/Emerald: again, feel creepy. I love the idea of a sibling relationship and can’t see them possibly being romantic even without the age gape.
Cinder/Qrow: yeah again. Both are sexy and good for angsty lemons. I’m not into that stuff so I don’t ship them
Fall Stinger: I just don’t know why anyone would ship Tyrian with anyone. Unless it was Salem and even that is super creepy
Firerobber: I like villain relationships but Roman already has Neo and Cinder is a hot mess. Literally
Firewall: I don’t know why anyone would ship Watts with anyone. He’s even worst less ship-able then Tyrian
Footloose: I don’t actually ship it but just imagine Mercury and Melanie bonding over weaponized feet.
Freckles: Yeah this is just painful. The two most adorable characters (Penny and Oscar), who go through the worst things imaginable. It’s endless fluff, angst, and whump, and I love cute romance and tragic romances, so this is definitely something I ship.
Frostbite: seriously, this is so weird and toxic. Having Adam fall for Weiss or vice versa. Maybe it would work in an AU or something but it’s just too creepy
Funky Beats: it’s cute, I ship it.
Gelato: yeah I love healthy villainous relationships! Neo and Roman are freaking adorable, and I’m sad that we didn’t see more of them together.
Grandmasters: I obviously don’t ship Salem and Ozpin because that’s just creepy, but I do like their romance. I like tragic romances, and this probably the most tragic one in existence
Greek Lotus: I don’t see the chemistry and crashes two of my favorite ships so…
Green Knight: well, she kinda helped kill his last girlfriend so…unless it’s AU this isn’t going to work. Even if it is an AU. This feels like another ship made solely for lemons
Velvet/Cardin: yeah, a bigot changing his mind when he falls in love with a minority isn’t cute. Isn’t sweet. It isn’t romantic. I don’t even excuse lemons that use this trope. Even porn ought to be above that
Weiss/Cardin: WOULD EVERYONE STOP SHIPPING CARDIN WITH PEOPLE
Hummingbird: it’s hard to ship something when you only know one character, but I was interested in the theory that Qrow was actually Ruby’s father. But then in season 7 Qrow’s description of Summer made me rethink it, and it didn’t sound anything like how you’d describe a romantic relationship. So I don’t really like that theory anymore
Iceberg: this is just cliche and boring. I get them dating but it wouldn’t last that long
Flynt/Weiss: I really love this one, it’s my favorite ship with Weiss. I don’t want it to actually happened in cannon because that would be random, but I feel like it would be fun for both their characters. And they both share an interest in music. I’m imagining an AU where he gets her into jazz and she starts singing it at all her concerts to the horror of Jaques.
Iron Maiden: honestly what. Why. Gross
Iron witch: well I definitely see why people like it. I actually wouldn’t mind it being cannon, It’d be a good combination of funny/tragic and I’d like to see Glynda mentoring Winter
Jailbirds: this just feels forced and also Qrow is probably too old for her. I like their relationship and don’t want it to be romantic
Knight fall: lemon ship. Moving on
Knight Life: I feel like Jaune just gets shipped with everyone but this is cute I guess
Lancaster: it’s cute, but I can’t ship it because it feels cliche. I was worried that Jaune was going to be her love interest when they first met and was relieved to see him with Pyrrha instead. It just feels forced and boring to have him end up with Ruby
Pyrrha/Mercury: this really popular for some unfathomable reason. I like Mercury but Pyrrha deserves better
Marrowgold (May/Marrow): I just don’t see it
Nikong: Pyrrha and Sun would be cute together, but I don’t really love this ship. It’s kinda meh.
Nora’s Arc: no. Just no. It technically would work but their platonic relationship is way too good to lose
Old Silver: this is Maria/Pietro, and I think it’s adorable. They both strike me as really flirty for their ages and both are very good mentors. They can be the crazy grandparents of the team
Ozglyn: just don’t see it
Phoenix: yeah Raven was a horrible girlfriend/wife. I don’t ship her Taiyang
QuickSilver: Ruby deserves better than Mercury.
Rehab (Qrow/Glynda): the fact that this is called rehab explains why I don’t ship it
ReNora: yeah, this is probably my favorite ship. I don’t think I have to explain why.
Robotic Knight: I briefly shipped this but now disagree
Rosegarden: I really love Rosegarden, they’re just too adorable together, though the whole Ozpin does make it a little awkward
Rosewick: I can’t see this happening, even in an AU
Coco/Fox: I don’t know enough about Fox to really ship them, but the fact that Coco canonically slaps his butt during battle definitely makes me want to
Mercury/Neo: I could see this working. It would be pretty cute
Silent Knight: again, it would have to be an AU and even then I don’t see it working
Snowbird: so at first I really liked the idea of Qrow and Winter being ex’s, but now that I think about it he has to be at least twenty years older then her. Also, I have to say that while they have chemistry I think they would just end up killing each other
Speakeasy (Flynt/Coco): I got to say I like this ship and could see them having a lot of chemistry together
Strawbanna: I just can’t see Ruby and Sun together. It feels weird
Sunflakes: Can’t see it working
Sunflowyr (Ren/Yang): don’t see any chemistry. Again this just seems random
Tauradonna: this is obviously as toxic as you get.
The Hunt (Cardin/Blake): stop shipping Cardin with anyone!
Mercury/Cinder: Mercury is way too young, and even if he wasn’t this would be really weird. Also Cinder makes him look like a stable, peaceful person, so also no.
Toxic Petals: I swear I’m done with this. No more Cardin, Tyrian, or Watts ships. They too gross
Velveteen Knight: Aw, they’d be cute together
White Knight: I really hate this ship. It’s so obnoxious and boring, and nearly falls into the jerky badass/goofball trope I hate
Winter Soldier: ew, no, Ironwood is like her dad
Wise Dragon: anyone care to explain why this is so popular? Sage barely has any character to him, I can’t ship him with anyone
Yellow rose: Yeah, I kinda ship this, but again, it’s difficult when you barely know one character
IronQrow: I understand why you would ship this but I just don’t see it. Guys can hug without being gay you know
Martial arts: why?
Noah’s Arc: why?
Sea Monkeys: again I understand why you could ship it but I don’t. They’re obviously just friends to me
Shovel Knight: like most Oscar ships it feels weird. Jaune is obviously a big brother to him
TaiQrow: As funny as it is for Tai to sleep with every member of his team, I don’t ship it.
Fair game: I really can’t stand Clover so again, don’t ship it
Achilles heel: Cinder literally kills Pyrrha, why would you ship them?
Baked Alaska: lemon ship
Black glass: annnd, another lemon ship.
Blood Mint: yeah I don’t see Emerald and Ruby ever being a couple
Catmelon: I found Ilia’s crush on Blake kinda cringy and I can’t see them being a couple
ColdMurder (Weiss/Cinder): even in an au I don’t see it working
Cold Steel (Penny/Winter) eeewww, they’re practically sisters
Cream Machine (Neo/Penny): I mean…if she wasn’t evil…and wasn’t so much older…it might work? Maybe?
Crosshares: cute but I feel like Velvet is too much of a doormat for Coco
Digital Clock: Ciel obviously didn’t care much for Penny, and she was barely a character at all. I don’t see it
Pyrrha/Nora: don’t see it, and also can’t stand the idea of breaking up the two best ships
Falling Petals: I get that Cinder is hot, but can we stop shipping her with the kids she’s trying to murder? Because I can see several things wrong with that
Freezerburn: again, for no reason that I can think of this ship just doesn’t work for me. Much like Dragonslayer it just feels weird
Gingersnaps (Penny/Nora): that would be chaotic. I can’t really see them romantically though like most Penny ships it would be cute
Guilty Conscience (Bree/Winter): oh please no. They really don’t have any reason to be together
Ladybug: I just can’t see Blake with Ruby at all. Blake feels way to old even though she’s only older by two years.
Milk and Cereal (Ruby and Pyrrha): I guess it would work but I just don’t any chemistry
Mint chocolate (Emerald/Coco): if Coco managed to forgive her for everything that happened at Beacon I could maybe see this happening. There is some chemistry
Mommy issues: Nah, can’t see this working out.
Monochrome: Blake and Weiss have never had any romance chemistry despite plenty of opportunity to have it, so again, I see them as strictly platonic and shipping them feels almost like incest. I know that doesn’t make sense
Nordic Winter: I can’t see Weiss handling Penny, but again, any Penny ship is pretty cute
Nuts and Dolts: I would ship, but I like them together platonically too well. Definitely understand the ship, though I find it funny that Ruby, who insist she likes weapons better then people, would fall in love with a personified weapon. I know that’s probably racist against robots
Overheating (Penny/Cinder): I take back what I said about every Penny ship being cute
PennyWeiss: but this one is pretty cute
Pink Lemonade: can you imagine the chaos of Yang and Nora dating each other? They both need someone with a cooler head to keep them in check
Scheenoks: with Weiss’s fangirling I can definitely see were this is coming from, but Weiss is too mean for Pyrrha
Steadfast: I really don’t ship any of the ace-ops with anyone. I found them all boring and annoying except for Marrow
Strawberry Shortcake (Neo/Ruby): not seeing it
Sugar Rush (Ruby/Nora): Again, too much chaos. They both need chill partners. And I love Rosegarden and ReNora too much
Thunder cat (Blake/Nora): don’t see any chemistry between them
WhiteRose: I can see why this is shipped and I don’t dislike WhiteRose shippers. I just prefer Rosegarden, and find Weiss and Ruby working better together romantically
Bumblebee: again, I see this working better platonically, not romantically. It kind of annoyed me at first, but it is growing on me, much like Blacksun. I still like Blacksun better though
Enabler: No.

this is a semi-chronological playlist of all the taylor songs that make me think abt the bees when i'm listening to them. i had to keep from putting in things that could work in AU's or altered canon so it stayed focused but just know this could have been way longer,,,, anyways here you go <3
apple music link // spotify link
enchanted // fearless // epiphany // false god // hoax // breathe // august // the archer // sad, beautiful, tragic // the 1 // if this was a movie // forever and always (piano version) // this is me trying // the story of us // that's when // death by a thousand cuts // all you had to do was stay // afterglow // closure // jump then fall // dress // peace // daylight // this love // long story short // wonderland // evermore
BONUS: how you get the girl (this is suffering weiss giving blake and yang advice)
putting the explanation for each choice in the read more if anyone is interested in my thoughts:

fearless - oh my god cute little “friend” dates at beacon, little rides on bumblebee; blake being like idk i just really like spending time with yang,,,, platonically,,,, of course
epiphany - immediately post fall of beacon; blake at yang’s bedside (this is more so a thematic one tho and could fit the whole narrative n not just them)
false god - yang post v3 recovery bed musings
hoax - post fall of beacon v3 yang; right after learning blake has left
breathe - blake’s thoughts after she leaves. this is what a letter from her to yang would have looked like,,,, sorry abt this one

the archer - yang v5 musings; post meeting raven, thinking about her abandonment issues and how blake has contributed to them
sad, beautiful, tragic - generic v4-6 bee angst song
the 1 - v5 blake,,, accepting the fact that she might never have yang again and accepting the part she played in that outcome
if this was a movie - yang recovering in v4 this also makes me lose my mind
forever and always (piano version) - lol so much of this is angsty yang can u guess who i project onto,,, anyways this is what yang was feeling that prompted the weiss talk
this is me trying - if taylor wrote the music for rwby this would replace all that matters
the story of us - wow v5 reunion
that’s when - “it’s just gonna take some time for things to get back to normal. but.... i am glad we’re all back together” that line. that’s this whole vibe
death by a thousand cuts - v5? v6? yang feeling angsty about being around blake again
all you had to do was stay - angry yang; in the barn at the farm

I really don't get the complaint about Ironwood. His descent into a villain honestly made perfect sense.
Okay, look. Before I begin, let’s just get one thing straight. The way I view Ironwood is mainly my opinion, and it is not an objective fact. Love or hate him, I hope we can all have an intelligent and rational discussion on the way General Ironwood was portrayed, okay? Okay.
My problem isn’t necessarily how Ironwood became a villain in Volume 7, but rather, how he acted as villain in Volume 8, and what the story was trying to say about him and his actions. Buckle up first, there’s some infodumping to be done before we get there.
Now, for those who haven’t seen RWBY (and be warned, spoilers are obviously ahead), General James Ironwood was a supporting character introduced during the show’s second “Volume”. He was in charge of all the military forces of Atlas, the most militaristic of the four main kingdoms in the world of the show.
He had a bit of a bad reputation in universe for bringing a lot of his troops to Beacon Academy (where the first three Volumes took place) for a fighting torunament to serve as security. Long story short, thanks to an act of sabotage from the villains, an army of monsters called Grimm and a faction of former equal rights movement turned terrorist organization known as the White Fang attacked Beacon, killing a lot of people and forcing the survivors to retreat.
Ironwood had a handful of scenes in the next Volume, showing his support for one of the main characters, Weiss, and donating a robotic arm to another main character who had lost hers in the Fall of Beacon, Yang. After, that, he was mostly silent until Volume 7, where our heroes made their way to Atlas to deliver one of the four MacGuffins the main villain Salem needs to Ironwood.
We see that since the Fall of Beacon, Ironwood has been stretched thin in protecting Atlas over the run down town directly below it, Mantle. It’s clear that Ironwood can’t really keep up with handling both towns, to the point where not only is Mantle protected by a single robotic supersoldier named Penny, but Ironwood is also diverting supplies meant to fix a wall to keep Grimm out of Mantle in favor of working on converting the same stadium used for the tournament in Volume 3 into a satellite to restore global communication, which had been down since the Fall of Beacon.
The heroes are naturally conflicted about their loyalties to Ironwood, as while he has given them his trust, they don’t really trust him to tell him some of the secrets they learned. Blake and Yang, two of the heroes who have always been more opposed to authority, leak classified information regarding the satellite to the leader of a group of freedom fighters, Robyn Hill (who is actually voiced by Christina Vee), who at this point, was someone Ironwood viewed as a threat.
Now you could make the argument that these college drop-outs are severely unqualified to handle a tense situation that even a seasoned veteran like Ironwood is struggling with, but the point is when Ironwood finds out, he’s pissed. It’s really not hard to agree with him when you consider everything he’s done for Team RWBY and their friends only to be betrayed like this. So Ironwood declares all of the heroes fugitives and place a warrant for their arrest
At this point in the story, you can understand both sides of the argument regarding how to handle the situation. Ironwood’s anger is very understandable, and while he acts as an antagonist to out heroes, he’s not really a villain.
And that’s when he shoots a fourteen year old child. Granted, he currently had the soul of an old friend of Ironwood in him, but Ironwood literally just tried to murder someone, and almost succeeded.
Volume 7 was very polarizing among RWBY fans for the portrayal of Ironwood. It doesn’t help that when Salem, the main villain of the series, launched an invasion of Atlas, Ironwood’s plan was to launch Atlas and keep Salem from getting the MacGuffin, essentially distancing it from the rest of the world... when Volume 7′s final episode aired in February 2020.
Now, you would think, after being forced to stay in their homes to minimize Covid deaths, the writers would understand what they were antagonizing Ironwood for was basically what every government in the world did a month after they finished work for the Volume, and maybe realize that maybe they shouldn’t portray someone like Ironwood as a complete monster.
Volume 8 opens with him killing a councilman who disagrees with him. And it all goes downhill from there.
This Volume goes out of its way to portray Ironwood as a genuine psychopath, mainly to stop the people who agreed with him over Team RWBY from supporting him. He does things like working with one of the villains to achieve his goal, gives his soldiers permission to torture people for information, and after Salem is neutralized temporarily, rather than continue to evacuate Mantle like he had originally planned before the villains and Team RWBY screwed up his plans, he decides threatening to bomb Mantle to use as leverage is a better idea.
And then there’s the whole idea the the writers want to treat Ironwood losing his arm in a fight and replacing it with a robotic one like Yang as a symbol of him “losing his humanity”. It’s... kind of insulting when you realize that Ironwood is a man suffering from PTSD, and the show is basically demonizing anyone who uses prosthetics in their daily lives, or is traumatized from war.
I’m not saying Ironwood is just like Chloe, but the way both narratives choose to demonize both characters to spite their fans is why I draw the similarities in the first place.
There’s also the fact that the writers claim Ironwood is acting this way because of his Semblance (they’re basically Quirks from My Hero Academia) giving him an iron will that won’t make him change his mind on his decisions... when it’s never addressed in the show, is only mentioned at a fan panel, and not even Ironwood’s voice actor knew about this until a fan told him. It’s a stupid way to handwave away the criticisms that Ironwood is acting out of character, and is universally considered by fans to be the dumbest Semblance in the show.
But overall, the point I am trying to make is that instead of portraying him as this morally grey villain who merely opposes the heroes because he has a different way of solving problems, the writers decide that isn’t a good thing, so they demonize him just to make Team RWBY and the heroes (who many have claimed do a lot of bad things this Volume) look better by comparison.
I’m sorry if you disagree with me, but I just want to understand that I am not trying to attack anyone who hates Ironwood. Like Adrien, I don’t hate the character entirely, I just don’t like the way he is handled, and simply prefer his fanon self over what we got in canon.

1. It really bothers me people use LGBT people to deflect criticism. No spoilers, but The Last of Us 2 has story issues. A lot of confusing writing decisions and overall lackluster compared to the first. It's a disappointment for me. A group of people don't like the game because it has lesbians and trans characters. Those people are shitty. Problem is people group all critics of the game as those bigots when there is legit criticism from people who aren't those bigots.
Ngl, finding that balance is really hard. Like:
Me: Hmm. First 100% canonical queer character is the would-be murderer of her crush’s parents and uses those unrequited feelings as an excuse for her actions. That makes me very uncomfortable
Others: Oh, so you hate lesbians and bi women. I get it.
Me: I am a bi woman?? Which is why I’d like some representation that’s not all doom and gloom. I get that it’s a preference but it’s still a valid one. Not all of us want “problematic” rep but rather something more loving and stable. Like Blake and Yang. I think they could be really good moving forward
Others: They absolutely could not. Here’s an extensive list of every way that their romance has been “forced” on the viewers. They single-handedly ruined RWBY
Me: Okay Number One, there isn’t actually a canonical relationship yet so I don’t think we should be discussing their situation like there is--
Others: OH so you’re one of those aphobic critics who just ignore all the buildup and coding we’ve gotten. It’s not a “real” relationship unless you kiss, huh?
Me: No! I’m saying that RWBY hasn’t given us anything irrefutable, something to get the bigots off our backs. I 100% believe that the coding reads as romantic but if we never go past coding that’s going to turn into queer baiting, something we’ve been criticizing for years. This need for canonization doesn’t exclude the potential for any sexuality, including making one or both of them ace, but RT needs to have them come out in some way in order to solidify that rep. The “Dumbledore was always gay” argument isn’t enough for 2020.
Others: Do you have any idea how rare it is to have a lesbian or bi relationship in media?? Of course they need to kiss. You claiming they don’t just proves how out of touch you are.
Me: ...okay, can we just agree that it’s impossible for one ship to please everyone and this is why we need LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of representation so that two characters aren’t trying to shoulder the weight of everyone’s identity? We’re moving on. Number Two, Blake/Yang has been no more “forced” than thousands of straight ships out there. If we can accept a guy and a girl being madly in love after looking at each other once, why does a queer couple need a dissertation’s worth of evidence to “prove” that love?
Also Me, a Volume Later: Hey, I love Blake/Yang but they’re caught up in this whole “protagonists can do no wrong” theme which means that not only are they written as really co-dependent but that co-dependence has led them to making reckless choices without consulting others. Can we maybe let them talk to the other team members? Learn from their mistakes? The relationship - when we hopefully get it - will read as much more healthy and compelling if we let them grow as characters. Here I’m criticizing the depiction of a (potentially) queer relationship, not arguing over whether that relationship has a right to exist at all. Sure, queer characters have the right to be written “badly” just like their straight counterparts, but considering RWBY as its own, autonomous story, don’t we want the writing to be the best it can be? I don’t need to be a world renowned pastry chef to “justify” making a cake. The cake is allowed to be shitty. But wouldn’t I want to try and improve my baking skills if given the chance? Surely we can give queer characters the same pass straight couples get while also pointing out ways to improve their depiction?
Others: Ah ha! You do hate them!
Sadly it’s a lose-lose, anon. If you support queer ships you get backlash. If you criticize the writing of queer ships you get backlash. I’ve gotten angry messages about it all. All you can really do is listen when you feel it’s warranted, stick to your beliefs when it’s not, and block/delete at your discretion :/
(Also I’ve been meaning to play The Last of Us at some point so that’s something to look forward to now lol)

Hey hi I've loved every single one of your writings so far and finally worked up the nerve to send a prompt: Blake calls her parents to let them know she's safe in Atlas.
I don’t think that this went the way you asked but... inspiration struck and this was the result. I hope you don’t mind how it turned out 😅
Featuring;
Meddling, embarrassing mama Kali
Yang “I don’t know how to respond so I’m just going to leave the room” Xiao Long
Anxious Blake
And dorky bees
Oh and I have a silly little headcanon that has absolutely no basis in canon that when Blake’s agitated with her mother, she calls her ma 😅
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
“Oh there’s my beautiful baby girl!”
Blake laughed at her mother’s greeting. As embarrassing as it was when Yang was literally sitting right next to her, Blake had missed her mother’s enthusiasm terribly.
“Hi mum.” Blake smiled happily at her.
“Your father’s out dealing with some diplomatic issues right now so you’ll have to make do with me. And the first thing I want to know is about your hair!” Kali said excitedly as Blake flushed. “Oh look at you! You look so grown up! I’m sure that you’re just sweeping that partner of yours right off of her feet, hmm?” Kali smirked at her through her scroll. Blake felt herself freeze, a brief moment of panic before glaring at her mother, purposefully ignoring the way Yang turned away with a furious blush.
“Mother. Please.” Blake said dryly. She should have expected this.
“What? I’m just saying that, if she’s as incredible as you told me, then she’s worth pursuing.” Kali smiles at her sweetly. Too sweetly.” What was it you said? Strong, beautiful, charismatic, brave? And something about her having the most adorable, dorky laugh that never fails to lift your spirits?” Blake.exe has stopped working. Please reboot. “Oh! Then there’s how intelligent you said she was. Compassionate and kind. With the most beautiful lilac eyes that-“ “Okay, that’s enough!” Blake finally managed to interrupt her mother.
“That feel like home.” Kali finished with a cheeky grin.
“Thanks ma.” Blake said sarcastically as Kali giggled. Her ears were pinned and she absolutely refused to look at Yang.
“I-um.” Yang stuttered, causing Kali to blink up at Blake in confusion. Blake sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose and turned the camera to Yang.
“Say hello to Yang, mum. I was just about to introduce you before you went on your tangent.” Blake said while pointedly glaring at her mother, ears flat. To her credit, Kali appeared sheepish.
“Oh. Hello, dear. This is certainly a bit… awkward, I suppose.” Kali giggled. Blake was starting to pray that the floor would open up and swallow her whole. “Blake has told me so much about you!”
“Uh… Hi Mrs. Belladonna. Pleasure to see you.” Yang grinned awkwardly. “I should go check on the others. I’ll see you later!” And with that, she ran off.
“I see what you mean by charismatic, dear.” Kali teased but stopped when she saw the almost hurt look on Blake’s face. “Blake, honey, what’s wrong?”
“W-we’re in weird place, r-right now. Things have been awkward since I came back and-“ Blake stammered as the story, minus everything to do with Ozpin and Salem, came out. How scared she was that they’d never be okay. How they had to protect their own. How they exist in this weird relationship purgatory of theirs. “And I’m terrified of losing her! W-what if this sets back at square one?” Blake sniffed, heart aching at the thought. “You saw how she reacted! She was uncomfortable!”
“Blake, baby girl. I don’t think that’s it. I am so sorry that I embarrassed you both, but I think she’s less embarrassed and closer to flustered. She just may not know what to do with what she heard and needed a moment to think it through.” Kali cooed gently as Blake inhaled deeply. “I’m so, so sorry you had to go through all of that. I’m sorry we weren’t there for you. That we didn’t fight harder for you. I’m sorry that things ended the way they did.” Kali let out a sniff of her own, tears streaming down her own face. “But I am so grateful that Yang was there for you. What you two have is so special and rare, baby girl. I don’t think either of you will let it go. Especially not over some old woman’s ramblings.” Blake let out a testy huff of laughter as she wiped her eyes.
“Don’t apologise, mum. I-I’m okay. I’m safe.” Blake smiled reassuringly at her before letting out a heavy sigh. “I know that neither of are willing to let… whatever this is go. But there’s still this voice in the back of my head telling me that I don’t deserve her. That I’ll mess up and-“ “Blake Belladonna!” Blake jumped as her mother scolded her.
“I will not have any daughter of mine talking like that. You deserve to happy. You deserve to feel safe. You deserve love, sweetheart. And I think that could be with her.” Kali said with a soft smile as Blake flushed. “And just so you know…. I’m pretty sure she feels the same way about you. You can’t fake that amount of adoration that I saw in her eyes.” Blake let out another sniffle.
“I’m still scared, mum.” Blake said quietly.
“Most things that are worthwhile are, dear. But she’s worth it. Isn’t she?”
The two talked for awhile before Blake asked her mother to send her love and best wishes to her father and Ilia, considering that her old friend was working alongside the older Belladonna. Ghira and Kali had become mentors of sorts to her.
Once she hung up, she took a deep breath and sought out Yang, who she found sitting on a bench in the courtyard. Quietly, she sat down next to her, keeping a respectful distance.
“I’m so sorry, Yang.” Blake murmured, voice thick with emotion. Her chest felt tight and she instinctively crossed her arms across her torso.
“It-it’s fine. Don’t worry about it.” Yang said quietly, refusing to look at her. Blake felt her heart crack, fear taking root.
“Are you… mad at me?” Blake asked, anxiously biting her lip. Her ears were pinned and she felt mildly unwell.
“What? No! No, of course I’m not mad!” Yang gasped turning to face her, concern washing over her face. But concern turned to horror as she saw Blake’s face. “Oh God. Have you- have you been crying?” Yang whispered heartbreakingly soft as she reached out to cup Blake’s jaw, thumb brushing over her tear stained cheeks. Blake, Gods help her, leaned into her partner’s touch.
“I’m fine. Just… talked about everything’s that happened and it got… overwhelming.”
“Blake… did I upset you by leaving the way I did?” Yang questioned gently as she pulled away. Blake ducked her head.
“I’m sorry. I just…” Blake scrunched up her nose in frustration before taking her mother’s advice. “I just was worried that this would make things weird. I don’t want to lose you just because I couldn’t keep my feeling in check.” Blake felt a hand gently lift her chin, bringing her gaze up to Yang’s rather hangdog expression.
“No, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. Or hurt you.” Yang murmured regretfully. “That’s the last thing I want to do. I just…” Yang paused, licking her lips nervously and giving out an anxious laugh. “It’s kind of… overwhelming to realise that the girl you’re crazy for has been ranting about you to her mother, ya know?”
Blake stared at he partner in shock before grabbing her jaw and pulling Yang in to a passionate kiss. She heard the surprised squeak that escaped Yang before she wrapped her arms around Blake and pulled her closer. Blake tilted their heads and deepened the kiss for a moment, earning a soft whimper from her partner. When Blake pulled back, both of them breathing heavily, she saw a slightly dazed Yang, who had a goofy, disbelieving smile on her face.
“So… does that mean you’ll let me take you out?” Yang whispered, looking slightly awestruck.
“You mean on a date or with a sniper rifle?” Blake asked with a quirked brow, a slight smirk tugging at her lip.
“Really?” Yang deadpanned. “You’re going to be a little shit right now?”
“You like it.” Blake murmured as she leaned over and brushed her lips against Yang’s.
“No, I love it.” Yang whispered, leaning forward to capture Blake’s lips with her own. Blake hummed happily against her before pulling back and quirking an eyebrow at Yang.
“I just hope you’re ready for the third degree. With mum knowing, it’s only a matter of time before dad decides to have a little chat with you.” Blake teased playfully. Yang merely smirked at her, causing Blake’s breath to hitch.
“You kidding? Nothing could scare me away from you.” Yang said confidently. “You’re stuck with me now, Belladonna.” Yang said, playfully nuzzling Blake’s nose.
“Hm. I hope so.” Blake murmured softly. “Because you’re exactly what I want. What I need.” She added softly. She heard a sharp intake of breath and looked up to see sentimental tears filling her partner’s eyes before she felt her jaw being framed and rapid fire kisses being placed on every square inch of her face, quickly pulling giggles from her lips.
“That’s it.” Yang mumbled in between kisses. “You’re too cute!”
“So what? Is this my punishment?” Blake snickered as Yang kissed along her jaw.
“Yes. For crimes of excessive cuteness.”
Blake let out a laugh. Calling her parents did not go the way she planned. But she sure as hell wasn’t mad about it.

How Ruby losing an eye could be great for the show
From early on, the theory that Ruby will lose an eye during the course of the show has been circling and seems to grow in popularity with every passing season. Once you’ve looked into it, it’s easy enough to tell why. There’s the early concept art of her with an eyepatch, the fact that her eyes are so powerful in the first place and Tyrain’s chuckling about ‘an eye for an eye’.
(I would have inserted said concept art here, but it appears to have been lost to the internet. If I find it, I’ll edit this.)
There’s also the small (and possibly unintentional) detail during recent volumes of her hair’s shadow occasionally falling over her left eye to resemble a scar much like Weiss’.
There are still some people who aren’t convinced though, and to them, I bring up Adventure Time. From early on in the show, there was a lot of foreshadowing regarding Finn losing his arm, be it regular old symbolism or alternate versions of himself missing an arm too. Then, it actually happened and then, after it grew back (it’s complicated), it happened again and the show ended with his arm permanently gone. I strongly believe that these little hints we’re getting about Ruby’s potential loss of an eye are going to lead to confirmation, just like Adventure Time.
But, I’m not really here to discuss whether or not it will actually happen. I’m here to discuss the many great opportunities this could lead to, from the point of view of someone majoring in professional writing with three years of study so far under her belt.
So, let’s take a look at all the doors this scenario could open in the world of RWBY and the effects it would have on everyone involved.
Now, I won’t take any joy from seeing our precious angel baby being so severely injured, but the cause and effect surrounding it are extremely intriguing to me.
First of all- how might it happen? Many people have many different theories, each with their own great potential. Some have said it would only be appropriate if Cinder was to do the damage in hand-to-hand combat, a payback for the loss of her own eye. Others have said it could be interesting if it was an accident during a training bout of some sort, leaving the apologetic attacker with a ton of guilt. But my favourite has to be a theory I came across right here on Tumblr. Unfortunately, I can’t find the original post, so if anyone does know who’s it is, tell me so I can link it here! The theory details that Cinder might use Neo’s illusion semblance to trick a member of Team RWBY into attacking Ruby, resulting in her losing the eye. The theory didn’t go into detail about who specifically may deal the blow, but it’s a heartbreaking idea all the same. The attacker would be riddled with guilt, though there’s a good chance nobody else would blame them. We’d certainly get some really heart-wrenching moments, which would undoubtedly lead to some good old character development.
Now there’s the fact of how severely this would affect Ruby. She’s worked hard to build herself into a strong fighter and is proud of how she’s able to help protect those she cares about. Then there’s her secret little ability, her silver-eyed powers that would be severely damaged or even totally depleted if one of those eyes were to be lost. This extremely powerful power she’s finally been able to use in purpose, this power that could be key in defeating Salem, suddenly taken from her. Throughout her whole journey, Ruby has refused to admit defeat, but this might just crush her, especially on top of whatever else might happen during volume 7. We may even see her briefly defect from the group and try to strike out on her own, though it’s more likely she’d try to hide her pain in an effort not to burden anyone- which could be damaging if it builds up too much. The possibilities here are endless.
And how would her teammates react, even if it wasn’t one of them who did it? Well, it’d strengthen her bonds with them at the very least. For anyone worried that Yang and Ruby will get less time together now that Bumbleby are essentially canon, one can be sure that we’ll get some heart-wrenching sister moments if Ruby were to lose an eye. After all, Yang’s lost a part of herself too, so she’d be vital to Ruby’s recovery, there to offer comfort and advice whenever she needs it. And maybe, after it’s okay to, Ruby and Weiss could share some jokes about their similar eye scars- we could even get some cute Whiterose moments. As for Blake, while she might not be able to relate to Ruby at all, we can hope that the two would share some scenes of comfort, perhaps one of Blake assuring Ruby that she won’t leave like she did last time one of their teammates was so badly injured.
So there’s plenty of doors opened for how Ruby losing an eye could affect the show in-universe, but what about outside of it? Well, the CRWBY have certainly handled disabilities of both the mental and physical kind and how they’re dealt with by different characters quite well before. It was done especially well with Yang from volume 4 onwards, accurately and sensitively portraying the mental and physical downsides to losing an arm. I, at the very least, am confident that the CRWBY could pull off the main character losing an important physical part of herself with extreme care and grace, further diversifying the show and giving anyone with similar injuries to relate to.
There are even more paths to take than the ones I’ve mentioned, but I have arthritis and my fingers are starting to ache, so hopefully what I’ve covered was interesting enough to think about. With that said, feel free to share your ideas and theories with me; I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I’ll see you guys tomorrow with some more fanart :)

can you rank (loosely if u don't want to play exact favorites) villanelle's most important or influential denny relationships?
i’m just putting them roughly in the order she met/reunited with them on denny, for the record. and in case anyone was thinking of coming for me, this is just what i reckon are the most INFLUENTIAL, good and bad, not a complete list of her friends or family or important interactions
okay and this is just going underneath a cut because it got long as fuck
fox is villanelle’s best friend, her -- if we lived in the, like, idk, homestuck universe (not to immediately make this cursed.) where you can have a romantic soulmate AND a platonic soulmate, he’s her platonic soulmate. and in terms of influence, i want to emphasize how much of villanelle’s denny arc, like... could not have been possible without fox. fox was the first person who was ever kind to her despite having absolutely no reason to be, and he was also the person who challenged her in such an important way at such an important time. during the whole GRACE plot, HE came back for her, and HE’S the one who essentially said “look, you have a choice. you’re not just a tool for this organization. one way or another, you need to make a choice.” which. again. a huge first in her life!
i’m trying to keep these short and sweet since i have so many to talk about, but genuinely like... i cannot understate fox’s importance as a part of villanelle’s life. and for her to even be able to have a best friend, to begin with? that’s such a like, idk. cornerstone of things Normal People Get To Have, and every day i write her i am so so happy she found him. from an ooc perspective, they’ve like, been to hell and back together also, and there’s a fierce kind of joy as writer when you look at a relationship that’s over a year old and has evolved so much over that time and get to go “we made this together!!!”
konstantin meanwhile is... well, he’s the healthiest parental figure villanelle’s ever had. which. really isn’t a high bar! their relationship has always been so tempestuous because it is built on konstantin’s manipulation of villanelle, both to use her for his own gain and... y’know, for his own survival, being able to manage her as long as he did! but he also genuinely loves her, and has gone out of his way on a number of occasions to protect her or help her or take care of her whereas it’s quite likely that most of the twelve’s handlers... just wouldn’t give a shit! i highly doubt that the twelve are the kind of organization where you’re supposed to get actually attached to your agent. and for villanelle, konstantin’s affection for her makes things more confusing, because it’s hard for her to ever draw the line between what’s sincere affection and what’s manipulation. post-canon update, she kind of now aggressively thinks he’s full of shit and is rejecting him for her own well-being which i think! is an important boundary for villanelle to be able to learn to set for herself! and you and i have spoken about how we don’t want to reconcile that immediately, but i also think... she would very much miss him and that it would be very, very strange for her to be without him when she’s ALWAYS had him to fall back on on denny, and indeed in most of her adult life in general. she needs to learn to stand without him, but at the same time.... i’m super interested to see how they approach each other now from this more honest, fractured place.
and then we have ruby , which. i still think ruby and villanelle are one of the most delightfully unexpected panfandom dynamics i’ve ever helped form PERIOD. and it’s interesting because hunter and i have always talked about how you would never expect these two characters to connect on the surface -- and you wouldn’t! but in exploring the ways they’re different, we’ve also found these really jarring similarities between them, too? and i think in a way, they’ve kind of bled into each other on top of that. villanelle’s relationship with ruby is like, INCREDIBLY formative to her learning empathy and just how to... nurture a relationship and be there for other people, but she has also become someone who ruby looks up to, and i think she’s contributed to maybe. Darkening ruby a bit, in that way.
i also think of all the girls, ruby is the one who villanelle has the most explicitly maternal relationship with. weiss too, but i’ll get into why i think that works a bit differently in weiss’ section. but anyway, WHEN you have that kind of relationship with someone, at least when you’re approaching it with earnesty and a determination to do it Right, it challenges you with a certain kind of responsibility that i think has been essential to villanelle’s development too. not only has it taught villanelle how you love someone in a comparatively selfless way from what she’s used to, but requires from her a certain kind of self-awareness and moral awareness (if she doesn’t care about doing the right thing In General, she cares about doing right by ruby) that has allowed her to mature a bit on denny. so yeah, ABSOLUTELY one of of villanelle’s most influential dynamics.
she’s obviously also very close with weiss, and i would also call her feelings for weiss maternal, but compared to ruby/villanelle i think weiss and villanelle’s relationship tends to take on a more Sisterly overtone on the surface. and i think that’s maybe because weiss HAS a sister who is basically villanelle’s age, who is her other maternal figure, so for weiss that’s more just how these kinds of feelings tend to Manifest. idk. you know, not to speak for jay, that’s just my take on it. but while weiss and villanelle have never really clashed the way ruby and villanelle have and then had to work through resolving that, i think in a way weiss just holds villanelle more accountable on a more day to day basis? they’re always quite honest with each other, weiss has always been quick to call her out, and like -- post-graceplot, for instance, weiss was the one who was like “i believe you didn’t mean to hurt us but you still need to find a way to make this right.”
and not that weiss did this deliberately, but she’s also the person who REALLY tested the person villanelle has become on denny and how... committed she is to loving the people she loves, via everything that went down during the hunger games. the way villanelle feels about the sacrifice she made is still really complicated -- it’s not something she feels comfortable being commended for, but it’s also not something she regrets. she’s not one to put selfless sacrifice on a pedestal, especially not in a horrible situation like that where neither of them should have had to to begin with, but a part of her... does find a deep sense of relief in finding this validation that her love for weiss - and all the girls, really - is real, and that she proved it to herself. after the games, i think maybe villanelle can be open with weiss in a way that she can’t entirely be with the rest of the girls. it’s just one of those things where if you go through something like that together, the bond it forges is quite unique.
i wavered on whether to include blake because villanelle didn’t do quite as much active development with her or yang, but i’m throwing blake in here for a few reasons. 1) post-graceplot when villanelle was kind of avoiding everyone, blake was the person who was able to approach that from the most empathetic point of view since she had just recently been on a “running away from everyone” arc herself, and i think that ultimately helped villanelle a lot in easing into wanting to make things right.
2) blake’s death during the games, and her not coming back afterwards, was a HUGE driving factor in how desperately angry villanelle became after the fact. it’s also maybe the most raw experience she’d had with grief up to that point, and it wasn’t something she was able to reconcile. that loss really helped to fuel her rage and also taught villanelle that even when you do your best to love someone else, things can still go wrong and you can still lose them, and that... wasn’t an easy thing for her to come to terms with.
and 3) she promised to fuck up adam for her if he ever showed up which, i think, should be the driving goal of the rest of villanelle’s life,
sun and villanelle aka the single greatest example of “what if we jokingly shipped this oh god oh no wait i’m invested.” look they were always meant to be temporary but they were so goddamn sweet! while they lasted! i think planning temporary ships can give characters MOUNTAINS of development that endgame ships just can’t give you in the same way (not to say there’s not plenty of development that comes from endgame ships; i’m just saying there’s. a special kind of development that comes specifically from being brave enough to approach ending things with finality.) in villanelle’s case, that kind of stable, sweet relationship where she was tempering so much of herself deliberately could have never lasted, but it was good for her to get to experience that for a little while regardless? while i don’t think she was in love with sun, she did learn to just love him, and i think the clarity and simplicity sun approaches people in general with was something villanelle really benefited (and still benefits) from. most of all, it was significant for her to be able to see and understand that she wasn’t going to be able to be present and stable in that relationship in the way that sun deserved, and to make the decision to let him go. even if she was never OBSESSIVE about sun, villanelle still used to be a pretty selfish person who didn’t see any reason to let go of things if she enjoyed them, so i think. it can’t be underestimated, what sun taught her about love.
emerald and villanelle have come SUCH a long way. first they were friends, then they were very bitter enemies, now they’re friends again approaching even a familial fondness. when villanelle was angry at emerald, it was never so much morally based as it was specifically based in the way emerald had hurt ruby, and penny, and had lied to villanelle herself. and although they started to resolve that after em didn’t take the chance to take advantage of villanelle during the memory glitch, i really think it was all the cinder stuff that allowed them to become close again. there are a lot of parallels between emerald and villanelle: both of them have coped by refusing to acknowledge the depths they’d sunken into over their heads with their respective organizations, both of them have been stuck in incredibly fucked up situations with older women. i think when villanelle acknowledges what emerald’s been through and is able to recognize that and feel compassion for her, she’s in a way learning to feel compassion for herself, and that’s very significant. i’d love to see how they evolve after villanelle’s canon update because i think now she’ll even have. More feelings about that. and i also think on some subconscious level as the new fall maiden she feels some kind of obligation to em, to be better than cinder was.
eve is, of course, a given on a list like this. she is such a powerful - the most powerful, in fact - influence on villanelle in any universe, and i think a lot about that in the context of villanelle having so many other people in her life now who she loves and who love her. as we’ve kind of seen on at least one occasion, if villanelle had to choose between eve and everything and everyone else she has... she would always choose eve. which isn’t something i’m trying to paint as sweepingly romantic (i love villaneve and i love how disastrous they are around one another, but i can still admit i’d be concerned for someone who would choose their partner over EVERY OTHER LOVED ONE THEY HAVE COMBINED,) but then again, it’s not even necessarily only for romantic reasons. it’s because eve is someone and something villanelle... craves, needs, finds time and time again that she simply cannot live without.
and them trying to make a relationship with one another work on denny has really provided its own unique set of challenges that’ve had an impact on both of them. eve and villanelle are deeply intrinsically connected, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to peaceful coexistence. any semblance of that, i think, is something that they’re always going to have fight for durations of, because their instinct is so much to consume one another instead! while its effect on villanelle of course can’t be described as wholly healthy - like i just mentioned above, she can be pushed into that place where she just sabotages everything else in her life for eve even still - that isn’t to say that there aren’t things about eve that haven’t changed villanelle for the better too! because to even have a romantic relationship with eve for an extended period of time like she has, villanelle has had to get better at certain things. she’s had to access a place of vulnerability and willingness to communicate that she hasn’t with anyone else, she’s had to accept eve’s own agency and individuality separate from their relationship (which is something she did on denny even before season 3 had her do it in canon!), she’s even had to do things like confront what her, say, killing bill actually meant and how it affected and continues to affect eve. it’s an absolutely explosive and constantly unstable dynamic, but there is of course GENUINE love between the two of them, and i really love all the ways in which villanelle’s been challenged to fight for that.
carolyn bears a mention because she’s undoubtedly been hugely influential in the choices villanelle has made (and the ones which have been denied to her), especially lately. i don’t think villanelle ever particularly underestimated carolyn, but i think she was much too proud and too cocky to have imagined she’d have ever ended up under carolyn’s thumb the way she did. carolyn forced villanelle into the RID, and that was a situation villanelle was pretty complacent in for a while if only because it generally worked out for her. it took being backed into a corner to realize exactly how fucked she was, and interestingly enough i think that started to open villanelle’s eyes to the reality that she keeps ending up trapped by these higher powers, which is something that her canon update is going to heavily heavily emphasize. so. yeah, although while canon villanelle is mostly ambivalent to carolyn, denny villanelle absolutely HATES her. which. heh. may not end well. for at least one of them.
natasha is such a significant relationship for villanelle because i think, even with all the time she’s spent on denny and all the people she’s met? villanelle does not know... many people who are like her. most of her friends who know she’s an assassin either shy away from that part of her, or acknowledge it without really understanding what it means or what villanelle’s relationship is with killing and her own inner darkness. but natasha is such a PARALLEL to villanelle in so many ways, she was shaped into a weapon and told it’s the thing that defines her too, and even though she got out, she still has to grapple with that part of herself every single day. villanelle and natasha have their differences, sure, their variations in character and how their individual stories play out, but they also share a very specific understanding with one another that i don’t think either of them can really get anywhere else at the moment. and that’s a huge part of why nat has been such a significant influence on villanelle. when nat shows villanelle compassion, it comes from a deep, unfiltered place of empathy, something that could never be mistaken as Pity because they both understand what an insult that would be. when nat shows kindness and affection towards villanelle, it always seems to come from a place of “i understand the place you’re in completely, and you deserve to be treated like a human being anyway” which i think is so tragically ironic considering the self-loathing nat still carries around with her.
and i think there’s a part of villanelle that... while on denny she’s never expressed outward interest in completely changing her lifestyle or anything like that, i think there’s a part of her that looks at nat and admires how far she’s dug herself out of the hole she was in and, in some small quiet way, hopes to be like her someday.
pyrrha is pretty unique among the ruby girls in that like, rather than bonding with her gradually, villanelle kind of latched onto her immediately in a very “THIS IS TEAM RWBY’S DEAD LOVED ONE I MUST PROTECT HER” sort of way. which is interesting in its own way, because villanelle is rarely that protective of other people, and i think it goes beyond the physical (because she knows pyrrha can take care of herself) and more into the emotional. which villanelle does not especially consider herself well-equipped to handle, but hey, she’s gotta make sure pyrrha values herself beyond just what she can give or sacrifice to others!!!
on the subject, in terms of influence i have to mention that pyrrha gave her life for villanelle during the games, which is something that no one has ever done for her before, and an event which directly compelled villanelle to do the same for weiss. i don’t think villanelle knows how to even... address that, really, and can’t fully process the scope of it even though she made a similar decision in the end. in simplified terms, she feels like she owes pyrrha a debt, and one she hasn’t yet fathomed a way to repay.
elizabeth really just started out as a minor infatuation, a lil crush like villanelle gets on any pretty woman who intrigues her for more than 5 minutes. her flirtations with elizabeth were all in line with that, and i don’t think villanelle really realized how much she was encouraging elizabeth’s feelings for an attachment to her, particularly because her own feelings were not particularly intense for the first stretch of their friendship! in a way, villanelle’s relationship with elizabeth is a good examination and challenge of something i haven’t really done before with villanelle, which is that, like. it’s not her fault that she doesn’t bond or attach the way other people do (or at least, is much slower to), but she also has virtually no self-awareness of the way she engages and sometimes leads people on as a result. a lot could have been averted if she’d just... had the sense to set boundaries or had found a way to be more honest about the person she is.
but a lot’s happened since then, and now villanelle has to contend with the fact that she DOES love elizabeth, but at a time when their relationship has already just become too strained and impossible for the time being. additionally, villanelle really has no reference at all for being IN love with someone (or approaching that, anyway) in a way that’s non-obsessive and more quiet and gradual and just... very different from the way she loves eve, so she has a real hard time distinguishing this grey area between platonic and romantic feelings. because villanelle is still very literal in the interpretation of her emotions, so her reference for being in love with someone is “eve”, and she doesn’t know how to recognize anything on such a different part of the spectrum (particularly because villanelle is probably physically attracted to like, many of her platonic adult friends,)! SO elizabeth and villanelle’s relationship is very influential in the sense that it really pushes villanelle into exploring parts of herself and emotional experiences that she hasn’t really yet.
do i need to put cinder here? she wasn’t in villanelle’s life for very long, but technically she is the reason villanelle has maiden powers, which changed her life entirely, so,
and then i’ll also toss in jigsaw (and technically also handsome jack), who will be INCREDIBLY pleased to know that his trap had a lasting effect one way or the other. don’t get me wrong, she was pissed as hell about it and would go on the WARPATH if she ever caught so much as a whiff of their involvement, but i mean. aside from the fact that lasting trauma definitely counts as an influence, i think it is one of the events that definitely brought villanelle closer to and more attached to eve, if perhaps in a. somewhat codependent and overprotective way. still can’t believe they caught villanelle saying she would give up everything else in her life and die for her gf ON TAPE,
#fizzlep0p#tony genuinely this is an essay you dont need to feel obligated to read it all#or read it all in one sitting#BUT THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE EXCUSE TO GUSH ABOUT THESE DYNAMICS IVE LOVED SO MUCH#seriously this started out as a quick list of character names and then i wrote like 2 paragraphs for each of them#so feel free to look up your character (s) and then just nope out#cuts dennys lvad wire#long post /#i guess. because the cut will not fucking work the way its supposed to for some reason

001 RWBY!!
Favorite character:
Penny Polendina. She’s roughly 60% responsible for me getting into the show so deeply. Just, if there was a move to sway me in RWBY’s favor, it was definitely returning a character I regretted always being spoiled narratively for and giving her more story.
Just, one of the first spoilers I knew about the show as a whole was Penny’s fate at the end of V3. For the first volume that came out after I was introduced to the show (V7) to return her had a massive impact.
(she’s currently the only character I would come close to saying I stan, even if I don’t like the concept of stanning characters as a whole).
.
Least Favorite character:
Adam Taurus. Conceptually, he’s kinda interesting, but I’m not too invested in him. Also fandom opinions on him are too polarized for me to consider interacting or creating for his character.
.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):
Nuts and Dolts (Penny Polendina/Ruby Rose)
Pyrruby (Ruby Rose/Pyrrha Nikos)
Bumbleby (Blake Belladonna/Yang Xiao Long)
Seamonkeys (Sun Wukong/Neptune Vasilias)
Rosegarden (Ruby Rose/Oscar Pine)
.
Character I find most attractive:
Pyrrha Nikos is beautiful and no one can convince me otherwise.
.
Character I would marry:
I don’t self-ship. I like having more distance between myself and the characters I like.
.
Character I would be best friends with:
Ruby. I too am awkward, determined, and can get very, very interested in a specific topic.
.
a random thought:
I really want Nora to have a connection to one of Pietro’s scientist colleagues, so she and Penny can kinda be like sisters.
.
An unpopular opinion:
I love General Ironwood entirely because he thinks he’s a hero, when he’s really not. It’s vastly more entertaining to me to watch a character who does want to do Good Things, but can’t get over his own character flaws to actually be doing good things, than to watch another standard, cutout ‘military general character’.
(also this is partially due to me writing a fic where he is almost entirely responsible for a fucked up situation. I’m going to make him realize it and want to rectify things, but by then it’s too late and the damage is already done. Then he’s going to simmer for a bit in a nice steamy pot of ‘his kingdom, which he cares so deeply about, is in jeopardy because of him’.)
(otherwise that time I lowkey decided to try and bring James to his knees before putting him on a redemption arc, where he struggles. A lot.)
.
My Canon OTP:
It’s not quite canon, but bumbleby (I’d be surprised if it didn’t end up being canon)
.
My Non-canon OTP:
Nuts and Dolts. It’s the only ship I’ve wished to become canon this strongly.
.
Most Badass Character:
Maria Calavera. Man, do I want a scene where she whips out her scythes because she still has the skills, even as an old lady.
.
Most Epic Villain:
Salem is everything Morgana from Tales of Arcadia wishes she could be and so much more.
Look, I’m just saying, only one of them dramatically showed up to the fight riding on the back of a giant, evil whale with an entourage of equally evil flying monkeys.
(I mean Morgana had to outsource her Evil Army to Gunmar, so she loses points there).
I’m just very down for the villain who is effectively a fairytale that went really, really wrong.
.
Pairing I am not a fan of:
Tauradonna. It just makes me squirm and is definitely squicky to me.
.
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
I’m pretty content with how the writers handle the characters. I don’t really have any complaints.
.
Favourite Friendship:
Ruby and Weiss.
. Character I most identify with:
Ruby.
Character I wish I could be:
Yang. I’d love to be as outgoing as her.

B.s. fan here I dont want to be, but I am really scared now, because clunky or not the scene does show yang being a mess and blake speechless. Blake was never like that with sun. I mean the whole scnene is setting up for or down the line. (Part 1)
I mean how can one agrue that it was not a aww they like each other scene. I mean at this point blacksun is getting weaker and weaker and will die. I mean we had volumes 1-5 and yhe very beginning of 6 but the ship is gone. (Part 2) also sorry for the long post just full of emotion.
i’ve seen this sentiment from a lot of blacksun fans who’re losing hope and i do just wanna say; even if bees does become canon, it doesn’t matter. yes what rt did was shitty because they spent 5 years building up a ship to then switcheroo at the last minute; but that’s still five years worth of development that bb doesn’t have.
at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if your ship’s canon or not; it Really doesn’t. there’s been a shift in fandom culture in the last couple of years or so where people really seem to need validity from their ship being the Canon one and i don’t agree with that. back when i first got into shipping, i crackshipped the fuck out of the characters i loved with no allusion they were going to get together (Except zutara. that one cucked me Hard.)
so you guys are allowed to feel sad that rt basically just said nah we’re going to throw all this development away bc lesbians make us money (and that accusation is So Hard for them to deny considering their bees merch is like twice the price of wr and monos merch at nearing 100 quid for those outside the us sksksks.) feel sad, but don’t stop shipping what you love just because it’s not canon. canon is not the be all and end all, and sometimes things that are canon … are worse sksksksks.
#rwby#blacksun#anti bb#anti bumbleby#owl speaks.#post,answered.#fandom,rwby.#queue.#i didnt really want to invalidate anyones feelings#but also give some advice bc yeah ive been in this position sksksksk#so i hope this helped a little lmao
