This is a must read for anyone who doubts (parts of) Reputation and Ready For It…? Weren’t written in 2015 and the delay for reputation wasn’t planned. Louder for the back: there never was a Karma album.
Every two years since 2006 she has released an album, followed by a tour, then moved onto the next one. But her latest album, 1989, might change plans a bit. “This album has produced more number ones than any album in the past, so we’re just going to go with it,” she says, going on to explain how the usual album cycle could be extended. “Then I’ll feel like I’ll need to give people a breather from me because at a certain point they’re going to get a little sick of hearing about me, so I’ll need to go away for a while then, depending on my gauge on how sick of me they are, I’ll decide when to put out the next album.”
It’s just a goal of mine to not try and be something I’m not.” Her next surprise? Coming to us in three, two, one …
Also the hair, black nail polish, infinity ring, back and white photos.

What does it mean to be a Taylor Swift fan? A few years ago, it was cool to like Swift, ironically, that is; to sheepishly divulge you actually enjoyed You Belong With Me, an admission that would require an eye roll and a faux-groan of some sort. You have probably sung one of her songs at karaoke before. YBWM’s music video was a miniature teen movie, with Swift playing two trope characters: the popular cheerleader and the nerd next door who pines after the boy. Perfect bait for rose-tinted-bespectacled teenagers and pre-teens. (Before you consider my judgement too harsh, it may be time for me to confess: I have all her albums. No shade here.) Liking Swift back then was like a double negative, proving that you were indeed so cool, secure and confident in your own right that you were open about liking a blonde American singer who sang country songs for teenagers. When Swift heard Lena Dunham professed a love of her music, even she was sceptical that the indie-cool Brooklyn-resident producer and director was genuinely a fan of her music, unironically.
Nowadays the tide has turned. This is sure to go down in musical history as a landmark year for Swift. She has won a multitude of awards, broken records, taken on Apple to fight for the rights of musicians and withdrawn her music from Spotify because of its approach to intellectual property. She confirmed her first serious romantic relationship, with the DJ Calvin Harris (their combined net worth trumps Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s), though after initially withstanding questions about her dating life, she now bristles at them and refuses to speak about it. It’s been a gradual change in image, too, seeing her shrug off the twee spangly princess dresses and ringlets for Mary Katrantzou playsuits and Oscar de la Renta gowns.
Most noticeable is her self-branding as a new wave of girl power not seen since the dubiously scented Spice Girls’ version in the 90s, banding together with other ambitious women. These women range from Dunham, to actors Hailee Steinfeld and Emma Stone, to the new breed of “Insta-models”: Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne. “My friendship group is one of my favourite things about my life right now,” she explains over the phone during a break from her tour. “Our friends really have each others’ back. It’s the first time in my life that I’ve had anything strong like that in the friendship department.”
While many are old friends – she has known Selena Gomez and Lily Aldridge since she was a teenager – she is also active in pursuing new friendship, telling stories of how she began friendships with Serayah and Zendaya. “A lot of the time I’ll reach out to people to tell them they’re great and a friendship will come out of them. Ella and I – Lorde – we met on our own because her album came out and I sent her flowers and told her it was great and now she’s one of my best friends. Friendship often comes from admiration and that feels like a natural way to be friends with someone because you’ve established you respect what the person does.”
Her dedication to her fellow female friends – dubbed her #girlsquad – has even helped usher the word “squad” into contemporary vernacular, working conveniently as either its own entity or as both a suffix or prefix, something that surely makes self-confessed grammar fan Swift beam a little more brightly with pride. Try, for example, #squadgoals or #glamsquad. It’s cool to be a Swift fan today.
While to us it seems like a good time to be Taylor, she disagrees immediately. “Oh, that is such an illusion,” Swift says drily. “The public could change their minds about me tomorrow. If they decided that I was annoying tomorrow, they would use that angle and then a few other writers would use that and it would catch on,” she says, knowing how the media works. “Things are good right now but I’m never going to be stupid, foolish or ignorant enough to think I have control over the public. All I can control is making good music. I am so lucky that people seem to like me right now, but in no way, shape or form is it a permanent thing. And I think being aware of that is what keeps you smart and is what keeps you on the game.”
1989 isn’t so much a twentysomething tell-all than a musical reflection from a very heightened self-awareness of not only her own emotions, but also of public perceptions. “I’ve been learning every single day what the right amount of sharing [of her personal life] is, and lately it’s been not natural because this album is such a snapshot of my life – it was so vivid, direct and honest.” The songs address dating rumours, like in Blank Space, and naysayers – “Got nothing in my brain, that’s what people say”, she throws back in the poptastically hypnotic Shake It Off. “One of my main goals is to trying to preserve my sense of reality,” she says of her career.
Her favourite television show while growing up was VH1’s Behind the Music, which profiled famous music groups and singers. “There was always this part of the show where they would show the decline and the moment where everything would fall apart, and I would expect it, even as a kid. It would always seem like the decline of an artist was attributed to a combination of things, but I noticed that the top elements were a loss of self-awareness and making bad art, and usually one led to the other,” she analyses. “That loss of self-awareness can be so dangerous, so that’s when I have days when I have healthy self-esteem and things are in a great place, and I have days where
self-doubt is my primary emotion, and that’s okay, because that means you’re living a human, emotional, unaffected life.”
Like many high achievers Swift is hard on herself, but she’s refreshingly unfiltered and articulate about it. “When I think I haven’t done the right thing, haven’t done a good enough job,
I will punish myself emotionally for it over and over again, going over it in my head,” she continues. “I always have to work on being easier on myself, because over-thinking is my greatest adversary when it comes to life, work, love, friendship, career. I’ve been a bit better lately and realising when I’m having a low-self-esteem day that’s because of how I’m wired, not because everybody hates me,” she says, laughing at herself.
Swift will be finishing up her tour in Australia just before her 26th birthday in December. Her stadium concerts consistently sell out, so she doesn’t get nervous on stage anymore (“If people bought tickets to see me, then they don’t necessarily want me to do badly,” she reasons) but admits instead: “If I’m being honest, at some awards shows, because if the energy out there is really competitive, I know exactly what people, who are my competition, how they might hear me and it’s a really stressful environment when you’re on stage. You feel like, maybe some people in the first few rows wish you would trip and fall, and then it would become a viral video. That’s a pretty stressful and hectic situation to put yourself in, but it’s my job so I deal with nerves and just do it and hope for the best.”
On her past tours special guests would be other artists whose hometown she was performing in, or who were touring at the same time. “But I figured, if I kept on doing the same thing, people would then expect who I was going to bring out, so I wanted to really amp up the element of surprise.” This tour has included everyone from Serena Williams, Julia Roberts and Joan Baez to Justin Timberlake and John Legend and up-and-coming artists, which additionally proves her pulling power and clout. “I’ll approach them and say: ‘I’ll fly you to a city on the tour, I’ll fly you there and back,’” she says, aware of the difficulty of surprising fans in 2015 (she describes how sound checks are done without speakers switched on, since fans are outside trying to guess who the surprise guest is). “Part of being an entertainer is to try and show people something that’s going to confuse them, delight them, surprise them.”
Another surprise of sorts was when she pivoted musically to embrace pop for her latest album, rather than going for her usual country. “You can take that in two different directions: you can take it in the direction of shock, or you can take it in the direction of surprise. I choose surprise every time because I would so much rather plan an elaborate surprise that’s going to delight them rather than trying to shock.” She’s thoughtful about what she wants to elicit from her fans. “Where shock value is your only trick, it’s harder to maintain a long career. I can keep surprising them, which is a big deal for me to capture that emotion because it’s so rare these days.”
There’s a lyrical quality to how she puts words together. Her favourite writer is F. Scott Fitzgerald, for the “beauty and eloquence of his language itself. His writing is more poet and songwriter in nature than novelist.” And, of course, we know that it’s there in her songs, where she inserts poetic conceits (“I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream”, as she taunts in Blank Space). It’s there in how she speaks, too: the cadences in her sentences, the unlearnable consciousness of rhyme, rhythm and repetition. But it’s undercut by a voice that’s lower in pitch and more serious in tone than her songs may suggest, though with just enough of that queen bee bite to it, an ideal accompaniment to those masterful turns of phrase in her song lyrics. “Being a songwriter is the reason why I approached all of this with such conviction. I don’t think that I would care 1/16th as much if I didn’t write every song lyric that you hear me sing,” she says, the words gushing out over the phone. “It drives everything, it drives creative ideas about what the music videos are going to be, it drives the production elements that are going to be on tour and the stories I want to tell. It absolutely determines everything; everything’s drawn from the lyrics.”
It was her writing abilities that ignited her musical career. She won a national poetry competition in primary school, and was the youngest ever songwriter to be hired by Sony, at the age of 13. Catchy songs aside, the way she communicates to her fans allows them intimate access through coded line notes and a social media account full of visual and literary witticisms about herself, internet memes and other in-the-know subjects. “Social media can be such an amazing tool to talk to fans. I go on Tumblr to read someone’s having a bad day and I’ll send them a message to try and cheer them up, or I’ll comment on a video of a little kid dancing to my song,” she says. “Another way is that I have friends who are models but are also loved by my fans because they have personality, which they can show fans on social media. Gigi [Hadid] and Kendall [Jenner] are really great at it and Cara [Delevingne] is amazing … [the fans] feel that they know these girls because they are so open about their lives and I think that element is great in my career too. People can go onto my Instagram and see weird videos of my cat as well as behind-the-scenes of the Bad Blood video. I like it to be a mix.”
She’s pinpointed this talent within herself. “I love being around people. It’s not something I can control; it’s like a genetic part of my personality that I was born with,” she explains. “What you don’t realise when getting into music is that a huge part of your job, your career and your industry is meeting people youve never met before, and having short conversations that have to be meaningful even though they’re short.” A fruitful career in any artistic pursuit is a mixture of talent, luck and perseverance, so Swift may well have highlighted another factor for the 21st century expected of celebrities: access for all. “My greatest strength is not disliking new people or being around people, even if I don’t know them.”
The road to pop music stardom is fraught with obstacles. Swift, of all people, knows this best. She lists the biggest misconceptions about her: “From 2012 it’s like: ‘Oh, she’s boy crazy!’ – I’m chasing this boy, or I’m desperate – and then the ones from 2010: ‘Too much too soon, is she even talented?’” Or, the ones from more recently: “You know, like: ‘Her friendship clique is just one group of mean girls!’ There’s too many to pick from so they drown each other out. There’s too many to pick a favourite,” she says in one breath, reeling off the list with startling timeline accuracy.
Casting an eye over her past two years, she acknowledges she’s changed personally. “I look back on that person I was and think of how I had such a different life, different priorities, different opinions on things.” For a more final iteration of her career, she’s lightly entertaining the idea of remaining in the music industry but behind the scenes. “If I were to say: ‘Okay, what am I going to be doing when I hit 40?’ I have no way of knowing but I hope I would still have music in my life,” she says as a caveat.
“But if I were to give you my best guess I’d say I’ll write songs for other people, or I’ll create an album that’s about what I’m going through at that point in my life. We’re people-pleasers, that’s why we became entertainers, so if people don’t want you to be on stage anymore in sparkly dresses singing songs to teenagers when I’m 40, then I’m just not going to do it. It’s just a goal of mine to not try and be something I’m not.” Her next surprise? Coming to us in three, two, one …

I've missed talking about my partner in Crime Solving on here so I'm gonna share the story of the one time @finlayholmes and I went on vacation and it turned out very badly. It is a long one but here's Part One for now. Enjoy!
Felton & Holmes: Murder in Paradise
"I can't believe you agreed to this!"
"I can't believe I said 'yes'."
Muttered Finlay Holmes, already regretting everything. After being very gently told they should take a break by Francis the butler, Liane had taken it upon herself to plan a vacation for her and Fin. No cases, no trouble, no worries. Except for the fact he was taking Liane with him, there was really nothing to worry about. Which only narrowed it down minutely. As they stepped off the plane in LAX, Liane squealed, lowering her sunglasses, almost knocking Fin over with her large sunhat.
"Could you perhaps not be a walking road obstacle to your fellow passengers?"
"Hey you were the one who wanted to fly commercial instead of calling My-"
"Let me remind you that we do not need Mycroft to get around. We got here perfectly fine on our own."
"Alright. Now cmon, we gotta grab a cab so we can get to our hotel!"
"Why didn't we bring Francis?"
"Because he needs a vacation too. Now relax! I can tell you're kinda nervous and whatever but I've been to LA tons of times, there is nothing to fear. A little sun won't kill you!"
Fin glared at her for that. He had spent the whole flight lecturing her about skin cancer and the dangers of UVA and UVB. He lowered his own sunglasses to emphasise his point. Liane rolled her eyes.
"Stop that. Okay so it could kill you but like if you're protected and yknow you don't just wallow in it then it can do you good! Vitamin D, freckles, and it helps keep acne at bay."
"Which magazine told you that?"
"...Cosmopolitan."
"Exactly."
"Finny! We just got here, just trust me for once." She said, holding out her hand to him, inviting him to join her. Reluctantly, he took her hand in his and a grin spread across her face and she pulled him through the airport excitedly, heading for the luggage carousel and picked up their bags. Liane's luggage came off the conveyor, all in white and gold with embossed lettering on the side. Meanwhile Fin pulled a dark duffel bag off the conveyor and tightened the straps of his rucksack as they headed for the taxi rank.
"Why did you bring so much stuff?"
"My luggage, my choice. There better be smart clothes in there if we go for dinner."
"There's A smart outfit in there."
"Good enough for me. TAXI!" Liane yelled, waving down a large cab as Fin clenched his ears.
----
Liane flopped down on her bed, sighing happily. She'd finally dragged Fin to the sunshine state. It felt good to win. She waited patiently for him to emerge from the washroom as she'd instructed him to change out of his usual attire in favour of actually feeling the sun on his skin.
Liane had arrived dressed for the weather, wearing a soft cotton playsuit in lavender purple paired with gold strappy sandals, a white lace cover up over the top paired with her enormous sunhat and her signature pink heart-shaped sunglasses, her large beach bag slung over her shoulder stuffed with sunscreen, drinks, money, snacks, makeup and her selfie stick.
"Cmon, show me! I wanna go to the beach!"
"Promise you won't laugh?"
"Fin!"
"Alright." Fin stepped out of the washroom dressed in black denim cut offs turned into long shorts, a faded ACDC tshirt, sneakers and had a grey bucket hat on his head. Liane squealed and hugged him tight, making him instantly regret everything and everyone. This was a common occurance for Fin, most often felt whilst with Liane, his trusty detective partner.
"You look great!"
"I don't love the hat."
"The hat stops your black-like-your-soul hair from burning. You. Are welcome."
"So, beach?"
"Beach! Venice beach to be precise."
"Can I bring a book?"
"Sure. But you are going in the sea at least once."
"Deal."
Fin grabbed a book from his book and also noticed Liane slipping a fantasy novel into her bag as well which made him smile. They left the hotel and headed towards the beach and set down towels on the sand to mark their territory. The sand was soft and golden meanwhile the skies were a bright blue, the skyline almost matching the sea as they approached the bay. Liane smiled, gazing around happily. Fin squinted in the sun and quickly set himself down on the sand by the rocks, leaning on the stone as he pulled out his book.
Liane didn't hesitate she tugged off her outerwear, revealing a white bathing suit and ran into the sea to let the waves lap over her before taking a swim. Fin watched her for a while before starting to read his book, glad to see her enjoying herself before settling on the sand to read. He had to admit it was rather pretty here, a little noisy but he could easily tune that out.
After having swam in the sea for a while Liane came running back, her blonde hair in wet curls on her shoulders as she approached Fin.
"Finny! It's so good in there, it's warm but it's also refreshing? Just one dip, I promise I won't splash you."
"Promise?"
"Promise. Cmon just get your feet wet! You won't melt."
Once again she was holding out her hand invitingly. There was something about that gesture that Fin just couldn't refuse. He sighed, putting down his book and followed her out to the sea, dipping his toes into the water. It was nice like she said but he wasn't going to admit that. She was smiling and that's all that mattered. As he waded in deeper he realised he was actually enjoying himself.
"I told you!"
"What?"
"Don't give me that, you like it! I knew it!"
"Alright fine. Yes I do."
"Yeeeee! This is amazing! I've finally got you to have fun my way!"
"Don't push it Felton, any splashing and I am out of here."
"I heard you the first time."
After they'd spent time in the water and Liane had resisted splashing Fin, they made their way back onto the sand laughing and having fun. Fin rarely let his guard down but now it was just him and Liane having fun together with no Sherlock, Watson or Mycroft he didn't feel that pressure to be serious and unfeeling.
As the sun started to lower in the sky and the tide was coming in, they packed up their things and headed back along the road towards the hotel, getting ice cream on the way. Fin offered to pay and bought them both soft serve in a cone to enjoy on the way back to the hotel, the sound of sirens coming from the distance.
But as they got closer the sounds of sirens got louder and they saw the police cruisers parked outside the hotel. Fin dropped Liane's hand and started towards the hotel a bit faster, his crime sense tingling. Or at that's what Liane called it. Liane called after him, chasing him in her strappy sandals as they approached the front entrance and saw what all the fuss was about.
Fin saw a body splayed out in the lobby, a pool of blood around their head as they lay there limply. Liane finally caught up and Fin held out his arm to keep her back as she approached the crime scene. He was deep in thought. Liane gasped, covering her mouth as fellow guests gathered, muttering and gasping in shock as they saw the body.
A woman cried out, running down the stairs to the body but was held back by police. Liane lowered her sunglasses, seeing the look in Fin's eyes. She could already see the gears turning in his mind as he examined the body. She had not planned for this scenario. But if you aren't the killer then you never really plan for a murder, do you?
"Looks like you got your wish after all, Holmes."
Thanks for reading!

In Your Own World
A fic based on Ghost's new cover of 'Stay'.
Summary Stay with me. I didn't think when I ran. And I couldn't think when I saw him singing in a red sequin jacket with his mismatched eyes staring at me.
Papa Emeritus IV x fem! reader
AO3 link here
I took a deep breath through my chill-reddened nose as I stepped through the double glass doors of the restaurant. I am not usually one who socialises; I would much rather spend my night alone in a dressing gown, but I had already said yes to tonight. Why had I said yes to tonight? I cursed my past self under my breath as I kept walking.
Winifred’s was the fanciest place to eat in the godforsaken town. Crisp white tablecloths glowed under the warm lamplight on each dining table. It had attracted lovers of two to groups of six sitting down and eating and I felt my stomach flip as strode inside clearly missing the outfit memo. I glanced down at my black playsuit, long sleeve white shirt underneath, sparkly black tights, doc martins, and long dark grey overcoat with embarrassment. I saw one girl in a cocktail dress. Another in a corset. Why did I say yes to tonight? I didn’t belong here.
But as the second passed, I saw a short girl with long blonde curls. She waved at me excitedly from a window dining table. I took another deep yet sharp breath through my nose and pulled my coat closer to my body.
“I will only be here for dinner and that’s it.’ I said to myself. ‘No longer.’
Ruby greeted me as I removed my overcoat reluctantly and placed it on my chair. I hadn't been friends with her long, but she was outgoing and comforting to be around. Her golden hair shone in the ambient orange light, the reflections grabbing my attention when she moved to embrace me in a friendly hug. She was the kind of person who said she was introverted, yet in the same breath would say yes to going out to the sticky club on a whim. I was nothing like Ruby.
I was quick to tell her that I felt underdressed, but Ruby in her infinite kindness said my curves looked cute in the dark playsuit. I brushed it off. She was wearing a long flowing baby blue maxi dress with matching heels.
I ordered quickly. Anything with chicken and a side salad. I didn't want to be here longer than I had to.
Ruby ordered a margarita and a plate of pasta. She updated me on her job but I felt a million miles away in my own world. It’s not that I didn't care, it’s that my heart did not stop beating out of my chest. Anxiety had her claws in me more than normal tonight.
A waiter came by our table - a long, slender man with curly brown hair piled on top of his head. He was cute, I thought to myself. He placed a margarita in front of Ruby and a sav blanc for me. I eyed it and then gazed at Ruby.
‘I knew you needed one’ was all she said with a wink. I sighed but took a large sip. The burn woke me up. I might need more than one . But the waiter - still standing at attention beside me - stated that if we were too cold with the window slightly open, he was happy to close it. I immediately said it was fine; no need to do any more for us and after all, I know how to close a window if I started shivering. He bowed slightly and left us silently.
But I heard it in the breeze. A whisper of a voice through the same window.
If this world is wearing thin, and you’re thinking of escape …
With the wine glass frozen on my lips, I stared out the window. And the voice continued.
I'll go anywhere with you, just wrap me up in chains.
I don't remember standing up. I don't remember excusing myself from Ruby. All I heard was the voice from outside.
But if you try to go alone, don't think I'll understand.
The chill had bitten into my skin deeply as I left Winifred’s as quickly as I had entered. I shivered; I didn't have my overcoat. Fuck that. Where was the voice coming from?
I started running - I think it echoed from the old botanic gardens, or at least in that direction. My heart was pounding harder than my heavy boots on the pavement. I didn't bother to look where I was running. I was following my ears. I had never been this impulsive.
Stay with me.
It was getting louder. I was getting closer. Did anyone else hear that? Trees were a green blur and I ran faster than I had in my life.
Stay with me.
I had never heard a voice like this one. Full of emotion. Alluring. Quite literally pulling me toward him. If I see Ruby again, I will need to profusely apologise. But right now, I didn't care. Who’s voice was that?
I felt the bass then - it was a performance maybe? A full band was behind the man with an angelic voice. And he didn't stop singing as if he was whispering directly to me.
In the silence of your room; In the darkness of your dreams …
You must only think of me; there can be no in between.
My breaths came in quickly, but I was almost there. Through the metal gates of the botanic gardens. Down the pebbled path. I thanked my past self for wearing solid footwear but hated that I forgot my overcoat because the cold was digging deeper into my bones. Running was the only distraction. And the disembodied voice of course.
When your pride is on the floor, I'll make you beg for more.
I sprinted on soggy grass from earlier rains. Who was performing when it was so miserable outside, and more importantly where were they?
But I knew with every pound of my heart, the performers were on the other side of the gardens. I just needed to round the corner.
And I did, as I heard again -
Stay with me.
Stay with me.
If his voice was beautiful and alluring, it did not do anything to prepare me for what he looked like.
I was right - it was a band on stage and they were surrounded by soft yellow and orange hanging lights. There were quite a few people here and they all wore black. They danced to the slow music and the soft voice.
The soft voice. Then the rest of the band kicked in, leading with the drums and my eyes were glued to him. My heart was in my throat.
You'd better hope and pray, that you make it safe back to your own world.
He was a picture of red and black. The jacket glinted in the light as he moved and swayed to his music, bouncing red every which way with his eyes closed. His face was painted like a skull in black and white, but he wasn't scary. How could he be when he sounded like an angel? He held the microphone close to his mouth as he opened his eyes. They were like two glistening gems; one geen one white. And they were looking at me.
You'd better hope and pray, that you'll wake one day in your own world.
'Cause when you sleep at night, they don't hear your cries in your own world.
Only time will tell if you can break the spell back in your own world.
I was out in the open. I was crashing this … party? Gathering? Why were all these people here? I was puffing out of exhaustion. I couldn’t breathe not just because I was running a second ago or the fact that I felt my nose freeze over; it was because he was staring at me with a curious gaze.
He was still far away, on stage in the middle of a clearing within the gardens. Trees surrounded everyone but the warm lighting kept the dance floor bustling. The stage wasn't too big; it didn't overwhelm the party, but his presence was more than enough to capture every ear there. By his side were other musicians, masked with dark helmets and matching outfits. But my gaze landed back on him. And I found myself walking closer. I was drawn to him like a moth to a very, very alluring flame,
Stay with me.
I was by the dance floor now, gazing up at him. Others ignored me, listening to his voice. How was this man so harsh looking, but his voice like the feeling of warm breath on cold cheeks?
Stay with me.
From here I could see the lines on his face, the greying hairs at his temples emerging from his soft brown hair. He was beautiful. He still gazed at me as he sang:
Stay with me.
Why was I here? What was I doing? Those were questions I should have been asking, but instead, my brain was wondering who he was.
Stay with me.
The music faded and he removed the mic from being so close to his face. I saw him fully for the first time. His chest was steadily inhaling and exhaling deeply from the effort of the performance. He put everything he had into it. I had no doubt of that.
He unlocked his gaze from me suddenly and left the small stage after he handed his mic to one of those masked musicians. I only noticed now that they appeared to have tails. What was going on? As quickly as he left, I heard him again.
‘What’s a girl doing outside in the dead of winter without a coat?’
I turned toward the voice that caressed my ear almost as much as his singing.
He was in front of me. The painted man. He was taller close-up and I could see each individual sequin on his crimson jacket and he engulfed my personal space. The delicate colours in his one green eye and the pure liquid pearl that was his white one stared into my own.
I had no reply. How could I? This person just pulled me from a restaurant with a friend. Shit! Ruby.
‘Are you okay, little mouse?’ he asked. This time concern wrapped his face in the form of his forehead creasing and eyes searching me all over.
I made a slight noise in my throat as a response and his lip quirked up a fraction. He smiled at me.
But before I could even process that, he was shrugging off that red sequin jacket from his broad shoulders.
‘This won’t do. And even if you can't talk, you don’t deserve to freeze.’ He said politely.
He moved closer and delicately placed his jacket on my shoulders. Oh god, I could smell him. Like cider and fresh florals from the market. His gloved hands adjusted the collar and I watched them as they made sure I was wrapped up in his jacket. His lingering warmth from being on stage still clung to the heavy material. His finger caught my chin as he moved it to look back up at him.
He said nothing, just analysed my face. And I hated not knowing, so a question sprung out of me.
‘Who are you?’
The smirk returned, and this time, I saw how it manipulated his face paint. The black lips moved, creasing his cheeks, and smudging the black into the white slightly.
‘So the little mouse does speak, eh?’ He laughed as he looked down at me in his clothing, and continued. ‘Call me Papa.’

So comfortable, flattering even after you eat a big lunch or dinner :), receive multiple compliments whenever I wear one of these. Casual or Night out – just change shoes! Colors are true to color – Yellow is like Yellow Jacket -Yellow -being blonde wearing yellow can be a challenge – not with this one-its perfect- Green is like a forest Green – very pretty, Navy and Black are true for each. Red is a tiny bit lighter than a bold red I’d say. White is bright white-gorgeous! Made well – washed and rewashed – still look just like new – no shrinkage.
