She applies for the Gender Clause (Female), Unconventional Birth Clause (Egg), and is a Unique Exception (Mold Breaker ability; multiple people have brought up Mold Breaker/Wonderguard to me so I'm just gonna embrace it)! With the hypothetical that this Haxorus was born from a male Haxorus and a Ditto, she would also apply for the Birth Parent Clause!

((I chose Iris's Haxorus specifically because according to Serebii, she's the only trainer you fight that has a female Haxorus with Mold Breaker. Drayden's Haxorus has Mold Breaker but is male, and Cheren and a random trainer in Undella Town have Male/Rivalry Haxoruses. Haxori? Whatever, all other Haxorus instances don't have their gender listed. None of them have their parent Pokemon confirmed, so the Ditto thing is still a hypothetical, but this Haxorus is the only one in canon that fits all the other criteria. I went out of my way to look this up so it's going in the post whether you like it or not.))

Seeing the bigoted discourse around HotD as an Indigenous woman from an interracial extended family, one full of 'illegitimate' circumstances of births that the Canadian government has always been SO eager to weaponize, and especially as the daughter of a 60s scoop survivor who found his way back to his birth family which means we navigate belonging to two families, of two different races, in two different ways... it's actually hurtful and a little scary to see all the vitriol levelled against fictional 'illegitimate' children by a MODERN audience.

This is a weird example but it's also the most famous. You know that saying about how you shouldn't insult Trump for his body because he'll never hear or be hurt by it, but the people around you who might share those traits will? How when you insult a powerful or abstract figure in a really low way, that insult is not just for them?

Well, when you express bigotry over fictional characters, obviously said fictional character isn't going to receive it. But real people who share those traits will.

I swear, I know I'm basically setting myself up for a never ending 'to write' list at the moment, but I do intend to someday dive into the subject and SHAME the bigots.

ugh i’m so far removed from anything even resembling a broadway fandom at this point but i need to know…why do we feel icky listening to laura osnes?

For me I already had some weird vibes after seeing her in Broadway princess party in 2018 (went mainly for her and left a bigger fan of pretty much everyone else? She just seemed very inauthentic in some way) but the bigger thing was with covid vaccinations.

Basically there was some big backlash when an article was published about her not being allowed to perform in something because she wasn’t covid vaccinated. I don’t know what the article said exactly because I only saw it through her response, I think, but it basically was something about her being rude or upset or whatever because she had to be vaccinated (if anyone knows that part feel free to jump in).

At the end of 2022 (at least in interviews, maybe it was sooner if you still followed her) she started talking about cancel culture and how this basically ended her Broadway career.

The vaccination stuff then revealed other beliefs, like her being pro-guns.

So yeah, since then it just has tainted some of my enjoyment of these songs I really love. I’ll leave some other things in the tags that are more my personal feelings, but that’s the gist.

Every so often on the internet, somebody tells me I'm "not Black", either because they saw me and I'm lighter skinned or because of some random, fucked up belief they have about what constitutes a Black person, and I really need y'all to get a grip. Someone can live their entire life as a Black person, with Black parents and grandparents and siblings and cousins and aunties and uncles, then get on the bird app in 2023 and have weirdos tell them they're not Black, or y'all favorite new term "white passing" just because they're lighter than I guess Kelly Rowland and like...

We understand that having lighter skin is a privilege and everything, but it isn't being white. I'm nowhere near whiteness, and people irl remind me every day. I'm not even directly mixed with anything (I'm mixed the same way most African Americans are mixed, and my dark skinned brother and sister have the exact same admixture. DNA is amazing and capable of anything.)

I swear to God, y'all have got to stop telling people they're mixed, white, white passing, or whatever else just because someone isn't dark skinned online. We have lived entire lives before you saw us, and we have an entire family that you have never seen. You cannot tell us who we are.
