“The ‘roots’ are actually not coral nor roots, rather a scan will reveal that it is actually mycelium, and these are the ‘roots’ of some mycelium of a fungal species located somewhere deep below the surface of the Daylight Roots Biome, well out of the scanner’s range. The mycelium is more or less farming the biome’s environment, growing algae species into it, giving it that green colour, and allowing it to take energy as the algae converts energy from the sun via kleptoplasty. With the safe little domes, decaying plants and fish that eventually die to age are all absorbed and broken down for nutrients to feed the fungal growth.” -personal notes on the Daylight Roots Biome.
“Glow slime are a species of protosteloid amoebae, which have formed a symbiotic relationship with the brunt spirals fungi. The amoeba get food in the form of the burnt spirals’ spores, as well as any bacteria, which in turn minimize the burnt spirals’ spread so they don’t grow in such an abundance that would prove harmful to the overall environment, which would come back and harm the spirals themselves in the end. Made some alternative skins for Minecraft! In my mind Steve and Alex are Oak and Birch Forest biomes respectively so I thought why not make more players for the other biomes? Here’s the Savanna and Snowy Taiga Forest! Their names are Sam and Taylor!

Sam is supposed to be inspired by Australia (Steve Irwin haha) and Taylor is inspired by Canadian Inuits! I thought it would be cute to sort of make them connected with their “friendship” bracelets

Some mushroom island phantom varients, these little fellas can be found basking ontop of muschoom and (if i can program it) will swarm a mooshroom to eat it alive.
They usually fly pretty close to the ground, and sound like cats, but more of the goofy silly sounds they make instead of the regular meows.
You can breed them with raw beef, and i think the specific item they drop will give the elytra a more rounded shape(the cherry forest varient would probrably make the elytra look like it was made of petals)
Hmm... maybe you use one of the mystery items from these guys to change the shape, and then alother to add the custom pattern? It would be interesting to be able to mix and match the shape/pattern of these!
Ill be working on the Savanah/taiga varients next.

So they revealed the new biome on the mc live and i won't even sugarcoat it. IT LOOKS LIKE A SACK OF WET SHIT. So i quickly threw together this little image of how i would make it look better.

I keep seeing people say that it's supposed to look like somethings wrong. That's what mojang said. And what do i say? THAT IT'S NO EXCUSE TO MAKE A BAD LOOKING BIOME. Look at this and tell me that it doesn't look really pretty and eerie at the same time, you can tell this place is haunted. The pumpkins are inexplicably carved like old minecraft and they add a nice orage accent to the biome(im talking to you, people who think the pale garden should have had white pumpkins)

It's a concept for a place in my story, I'm super excited to write more about it. There is a chance it'll be cut from the story but even if it is I'll find use for it.
It took like 3 hours, most of the time was just shading it, I'm very proud of it!!

Bro I'm losing my god damn mind and I haven't even messed around with the new gameplay shit like at all. Ive spent the past like 5 hours just reading and looking at shit I haven't even played the damn video game
#rat rambles#oni posting#and unfortunately playing the damn video game will have to wait til tomorrow because its late bug holy shitttttt#this isnt even all of the new content that will be in the full dlc like holy shit#now one bit of sad news for the gamers is that the mysterious machine does not appear to be the temporal bow but it still seems neat#its currently locked tho so I cant comment too much on its full deal#based on in game disriptions tho it appears to be a geothermal generator of sorts#which is actually super cool considering the environmental storytelling surrounding it#well what I assume to be I have only generated one world so it could be some wild coincidence#but Im pretty sure the magma biome is mostly obsidian with only bits and pieces of magma which combined with the geothermal generator#situations and said building being on the cold planet paints a cool pocture#also I wasnt able to 100% comfirm this but uh. erm. I think we Might be getting one extra new dupe once the dlc comes out proper#lets just say I have reason to believe that harold might not be the only moreson to have gotten his dna stolen#its so jover guys how the hell am I supposed to sleep tonight#and worst of all Ive seen like 2 ppl talk abt the beta and it's been minor stuff hello is anyone there can anyone hear me#Im losing my god damn mind someone at least make a video where they just talk abt the new plants and critters and such#like we might Finally have a new oxygen method even if its low key just a cold oxyfern#I forgive it tho because of the context of it using ice as fertilizer#like that doesnt mean a whole lot on this planet but on most other planetoids that provides a rly interested challenge#ultimately it's not That hard to make ice if you have access to any level of cooling but its still cool to imagine how one would go abt#automating the whole process and making it more applicable to late game oxygen demands#also this is a massive update for nosh bean enjoyers as we finally have a second way to get ethanol lol#also the deep fryer is a fun concept even if Im not sure how worth it it'll be to go for it

Concept: metroidvania with one of those "you begin with endgame gear and do a tutorial fight with it before losing all your stuff due to Plot" segments, except the player Hero and the Demon King "final boss" suffer mutually inflicted cutscene death at the end of the fight.
Now you're playing as the Princess you were meant to rescue, armed with whatever gear you could loot from the corpses, escaping the Demon King's Cursèd Citadel backwards – starting from the endgame biome – while the place falls apart around you thanks to the demise of its load-bearing boss.
The central gag is you notionally have endgame gear, but most of it has no obvious application to what you're up against, either because of the Citadel's ongoing collapse, or because the Hero's puzzle solutions on the way in were stupid, and you have to deal with the aftermath on the way out.
Though there'd be some gear progression, much of the map would be knowledge-gated by the need to figure out unintended applications of your existing gear. Any required interactions would be tutorialised, but you could freely break sequence if you know about them before you're "supposed" to.

Ive been thinkin about it, a rework of phantoms would be cool, i got a few ideas that i think would be lovely.
This lil guy is passive(mostly), eats honey, is imune to poison, will attack you if you make the bees mad, and also hides in cherry leaves kinda like how silver fish hide in stone blocks.
They also sound like finches, but only peep on ocation.
