When I asked the ranger for a good, scenic, primitive camping spot, he replied: “Site #3 is the best. There are no trails leading to the campsite. It’s perched among the bushes on top of a bluff looking towards the ocean and might get windy but it’s THE BEST”. It became a mission to find the site. No trails and had to climb straight up a bluff through some steep grassy slope and there it was. . The views of the #LostCoast was spectacular indeed. Just as we finished pitching the tent to watch sunset, a herd of Elk, about 50-60 of them, paid a visit to our campsite and they were chilling around all evening. . 🏕🦌 🌊 🌅 . Few days away from California and our last moments in Asia has been complete with the hand of the father all over us. We have been gone for 7.5 months and it's been the most meaningful time for us. 6 months will never be enough for India and hence we know we will return for the motherland. 6 weeks in Southeast Asia has been amazing to experience old memories, eat delicious food, build new memories, find and explore new countries and most of all, learn from traveling. Our last moments were concluded on this beach which we had all to ourselves. We had planned to spend the last few days camping in the billion star hotel and when we came to Koh Tao, we realized we didn't have any other option. We rented a motorbike and headed for scouting our locations. Thankfully, we came across a kind soul who guided us to a secluded spot in the mountain and also informed us about the "abandoned resort". The next morning, we set out for the resort and knowing there was a beach, we couldn't control our excitement. This became our home for 5 days and we were in complete bliss! Bluest of waters, fishes so vibrant, overflowing peace and shelter: we were sold. These months took our breath away over and over again. It has revealed parts of our soul and redefined our purpose. There is so much joy in simplicity. I'm so blessed to have spent so much time in this beautiful valley, running, climbing, hiking, exploring and above all learning.
