Every now and then you have a bird (or a goal in general) that evades you no matter how doggedly you pursue it. That bird for me has been the Common Loon. The "Common" part of the name mocked me as I searched in vain throughout Michigan, Ontario, Quebec and New Mexico to find it. It became a running joke as I showed up to every place it had been seen recently only to come up empty handed. Well luckily I happened to be in California for Thanksgiving where the Common Loon actually is (who would have guessed!) common and I was lucky enough to see five of them when I was eating a delicious lunch of BBQ oysters and fresh caught crab in Tomales Bay. Always remember friends - never stop putting yourself in the position to be able to achieve your goals or see your birds. Things may not line up perfectly all the time but if you keep putting yourself out there it will happen one day.... and hopefully while you are drinking a beer and eating oysters. #birding #tomalesbay #california with #tamron and #canon (at Hog Island Oyster Co.)
