Poly Losers Publicity

This is an idea, a back bone of a fic that I'm never going to write so I'm putting it here. If you want to write it, go ahead. I just need to get these brain worms out of my head. This is from my Poly Losers Au.

So like Richie, Bev, and Bill are all relatively famous? Richie is a famous comedian (who I headcannon him being on SNL at one point in his career) and then you have Bev who is a famous fashion designer? Like her work rivals Gucci and other major fashion brands. Then you have Bill who is like the horror novelist, who always has his books being adapted into movies.

So anyways the public is nosy and wants to know who's banging who. Richie, Bill, and Bev, along with the other Losers have decided to keep their relationship a secret. Yeah being gay/bi is okay but they don't want to have to explain why they're in a relationship of seven people. Bev, Richie, and Bill handle this in many different ways. Bev just deflects any relationship questions in interviews and Richie jokes that he's a whore and no one will date him. (Stan and Eddie give him so much shit over that bit) and Bill,,,poor bb flounders.

Bill likes to dedicate his books to his lovers. Each book he writes has a dedication that says something like: "To my lover who watches the birds", or "To my lover that is sun on earth", and naturally people ask who this lover is in interviews. And Bill just doesn't know how to lie so the general public just thinks that Bill's lover is a multifaceted person who loves to grow plants, bird watches, work on cars, and also writes poetry.

This all works for a while until Bill is caught in public holding hands with Ben. Magazines blow up like :"Is this the lover of many talents?? World Renowned architect Ben Hanscom??" so now they just let the public think Bill is dating just Ben. Also Bill and Richie got an argument over it that went like:

Richie: "This is so not fair, why do you get Ben?"

Bill: "It's not like I was trying to get caught!"

Richie: "Well if you get Ben then I get Mike!"

Bill: "Fine."

Richie: "Fine!"

Bill: "Fine!"

On Richie's next stand up he tells everyone he's dating this cute librarian named Mike and like with Bill, the press eats that up.

But fans are crazy right? Like they had a working theory that Richie was actually dating this high end accountant (Stanley) bc Richie had been spotted with him a couple times at fancy parties. (Stanley is a slut for fancy parties and Richie only goes to the ones he's invited to bc he knows Stan will enjoy it) But some other fans had a theory that Richie was dating high end fashion designer Beverly Marsh. Because Richie only ever wears her clothes on stage or in interviews. Plus they've been spotted being flirty before at award shows. So fans are a little confused when Richie announces he's dating a humble librarian.

But remember fans are crazy so it doesn't take long for them to figure out that Bill Denbrough also only ever wears suits out of the Beverly Marsh brand. Which is strange bc Bill and Richie have very much a bickering banter in the spotlight. So they're all left wondering, what does this all mean?

Because yes Bev avoids relationship questions but she always has the same guy with her as her 'date' at events. A man not much taller than her and he's been seen reassuring her at her runway shows. Calming down her anxiety. (Eddie is 100% Bev's unofficial manager and I like to think that Bev's fashion is her and Eddie's thing. He's the one who goes to all her shows.)

So at this point fans are going crazy. They have Bill who is dating the famous architect but has written too many dedications for it just be about Ben. Also some fans 'ship' Bill and Richie bc of how they play fight through the press.

Then there's Richie who is dating the "Librarian" Mike Hanlon, but also Richie has been spotted with at like Galas with one of the best accountants in the business, Stanley Uris and he constantly flirts with Bev in the public eye.

But Richie and Bill both exclusively wear Beverly Marsh. And Bev who avoids relationship questions but is seen with the same man at shows, who the fans had pieced together is Eddie Kaspbrack. Someone who owns a predominant limousine company in New York.

And this all falls apart after one particular award show, Bill's book turned Movie won an oscar, and the Losers were out celebrating at what they thought was a private party....only to wake up the next morning and see all hell break loose. There are photos of Richie making out with Bill and Ben. There's a couple photos of Bev scandalously dancing with Richie's librarian boyfriend, Mike. Then to top it off Eddie and Stan are spotted sneaking away from said party. Two people with romantic links to Bev and Richie.

The internet blows up.

Richie tweets out the next day: "So I see you've guys have met my lovers. Yes, plural. Told you I was a whore."

I honestly feel like this has been down before, and if it has please let me know. I just can't get this particular version out of my head.

i think that while eddie was literally treated like he was made out of glass and would shatter at any moment, bill was the true glass child.

i think while georgie was alive, he realised at the age of 6 that his parents had something else “more important” to worry about. he took on caring for himself at an extremely young age and took care of georgie too, leaving his well-being an afterthought in his home

when georgie died, i think a part of him (that he didn’t like very much) was happy that he would possibly get more attention at home. but we all know that didn’t happen

and i think that whenever eddie got sick or had a “skin cancer scare” and all of their friends would rush to see if he was okay, bill was a straggler. i think he wished that he could break his arm or have an asthma attack or get so sick he couldn’t be the leader anymore

i think a part of some of it maybe was also a form of passive suicidal ideation for him, to an extent. he didn’t want his emotional hurt anymore and he thought that if he got sick, or even died, that someone would finally care

Richie and Bill are functional boyfriends.

Well, they thought so, even thought their friends (mostly Stan, through a series of sarcastic comments) may say otherwise. They do normal stuff, go on dates, hold hands, kiss way too intimately in public and plan their futures together 

e.g. 

”Richie... there is no way we can have 4 cats, 6 dogs and 3 kids..”

“Fine, if you don’t think you can handle it--

*Bill on phone* “Yes, hello, how many animals can i adopt at one time?”. 

But one thing they tend to do that others don’t, is communicate through fists.

for example, a light shove on the shoulder form Bill to Richie was playful banter. Richie being his usual annoying self and Bill pretending to hate it but feeling his heart swell at Richie’s wierdness. But a light punch was a completely different thing. That meant Bill was on edge, unfocused or that Richie had hit a nerve. In those moments he’d always know to either stop and give him space or just hold the other boy until the reasons for his nerves came tumbling out of his mouth.

similarly Bill knew Richie’s manerisms just as well. he knew what Richie was feeling when he waved his arms around too much as he spoke (anxious) and why he could talk and talk and talk for ages (he was worried if he ran out of things to say people would stop bothering with him) and what it meant when he was quiet with clenched fists.

even the jokesters have their off days. Bill knew to prise apart his fist and intertwine their hands before Richie could draw blood. he knew to press soft kisses all over his boyfriend’s head wishing he could will away the bad thoughts even though they both knew it didn’t work that way.

Then there were signals they both used; Fists clenching around clothing meaning hold me close and don’t let go, grabbing their own hair by the fistful to signal stress or worry and resting their head atop clenching fists with a soft smile and a gaze that screamed love - though that was less of a signal and more of a broadcast considering the inevitable retching noises Stan would always make and the comments to ‘keep the heart eyes in the bedroom’ from Eddie

regardless Bill and Richie were functional boyfriends and they were perfect for each other.

the worst of times

a/n: so, this one is more on the sad side. i’m sorry. but it’s still v v cute so you can’t hate me for it. anon requested Bill comforting sad Richie, so here it is. (sorry this is really short) 

Richie gets in a fight with his mother one night

some not so nice words were said to him, left the poor boy crying

he sneaks off and runs to Bill’s house even though it’s 2am

he taps on Bill’s window repeatedly until a groggy Bill comes to open it

“Richie what- oh my god, baby. what happened?”

Richie can’t even form words, he just throws himself into Bill’s arms

he sits Richie on his bed and rubs his back until he’s calm enough to speak

“my mom,”

Richie had to say no more for Bill to know what happened

this isn’t the first time Richie’s come crying to Bill at early hours in the morning

“It’s okay, you’re safe now.” 

Bill gives Richie many soft and gentle kisses until a smile finally forms on Richie’s face

Bill wipes away Richie’s tears and tells him sweet things that leaves Richie blushing and forgetting why he came to Bill’s in the first place 

“you make my heart race,”

the two end up taking a long, hot shower together

hey shoutout to whoever requested this literally two years ago, hope you still want it! (btw im still alive)

“do you think the reason parks close at night is so the government can charge the birds?”

“richie please not tonight” bill groans from the bottom bunk

richie does this at least twice a week— keeps bill up for hours talking about the most inane fucking subjects

first it was sort of funny, laughing about ridiculous topics in that first week of school, when bill was still raw from leaving home for the first time in his life and when richie hadn’t yet worn him down with the endless fucking talking

(because he does talk literally all the time

he chatters while he gets ready, monologuing while he shaves his nonexistent facial hair

he talks out loud through his homework, asking bill a thousand times for help with his math

he talks while he EATS)

anyway the late night conversations were funny for the first few weeks, but now…

now bill’s riding on three hours of sleep and has class at 8am and richie wants to talk about fucking god knows what and all bill wants him to do is shut the fuck up

there’s a squeaking noise and then richie’s head is hanging upside down over the side of the bunk, his hair sticking straight up

“have you ever seen a baby pigeon, billy?” richie insists, squinting his eyes at bill in the scant moonlight coming in from their dorm window

“i know you think this is f-funny,” bill starts, and richie lets out a giggle “but i will actually kill you,”

bill moves to roll over but richie reaches down and grabs hold of his ankle, balancing with his torso dangerously over the edge

“i’m serious,” richie insists as bill kicks his leg out from his grip. he gets free but richie just leans further over and grabs it again, nails scratching the thin skin around bill’s ankle bone. “it’s all a conspiracy to keep tabs on us!”

“why,” bill starts, pushing all his annoyance into the word, “would the government want to keep tabs on YOU?”

“oh well that’s simple really,”

bill kicks again and richie squawks as his foot almost hits his head

“it’s because i’m a genius,” richie says and bill rolls back over to level him with a glare

“you?” he says flatly “you needed help making microwave mac and cheese yesterday”

“hey the directions don’t say you have to put the water in BEFORE you heat it up,” richie argues

“YES THEY DO,” bill says fervently “they absolutely do!”

and now he’s pissed

because the problem with richie is that he is un-ignorable

bill tries, he really does, not to let the kid get under his skin but it’s impossible

richie is funny and dumb and bill does like him a lot, likes him so much that he gets sucked into whatever richie wants to talk about

but its 2am and bill really really just wants to go to sleep

so he grabs his pillow and launches it at richie, aiming directly for his goofy fucking face

richie isn’t exactly an athlete AND it’s bedtime so he’s not wearing his glasses so the pillow gets him dead fucking on before he even has a moment to react

and then he’s falling ass over ankles out of the top bunk

he crashes to the floor with an almighty bang and bill jolts up out of bed, leaning over to make sure he’s okay

fuck, the RA is definitely gonna come give them hell

“shit rich,” bill says as richie groans on the ground, “you good?”

richie sucks in a deep breath, his eyes squeezed shut. the pillow is on the ground next to him and bill watches as richie reaches out and grabs it, throwing it back to bill

“ok i deserved that,” richie says “you knocked the wind out of me, who does that even?”

“i didn’t think you’d fall,” bill lies

“yes you did,”

“yeah,” bill agrees. he reaches down and pats richie’s knee comfortingly and that’s when the giggles start

he tries not to do it too loudly, in case richie’s ego is as bruised as his ass, but that doesn’t last long before he’s cracking up for real

and then richie’s giggling too, right down there on the floor surrounded by his own dirty socks that he takes off at night and throws on the ground despite bill yelling at him about it every single morning

“go back to bed,” bill says finally, when his stomach hurts and his eyes are wet from laughing tears “you have a test tomorrow,”

“how’d you know that?” richie asks, pushing himself off the floor. he flexes his shoulders and neck as if to knock out any lingering pain

“it’s on the calendar,” bill says like it’s obvious

“huh,” richie says, and then he’s climbing into bill’s bed

“what—“ bill starts as richie reaches over him to pull the blanket over himself

“if you think i’m climbing back up into that death trap bed you’re out of your mind,” richie says “if i fall again i could die”

bill opens his mouth to argue but it’s so late and he’s so tired

“you’d have a dead roommate,” richie continutes, but he’s mellowing, voice quiet and scratchy “might be nice though, i hear you automatically pass all your classes”

richie presses his feet into bill’s and they’re cold as hell

“you know, if you wore socks to bed your feet wouldn’t be icicles,” bill argues, but there’s no bite to it

richie hums in response

the rest of richie is warm at his side, and when bill turns his head to get more comfortable on the pillow everything smells like richie’s soap, sea salt and cedar

“good night billy,” richie breathes, and he throws an arm over bill’s middle, pulling himself in closer

“night, rich,” bill responds, and then sleep takes over

Just gonna throw out a few since I have been busy for a few days. These aren't all necessarily in the same universe all at once.

-Bill is the best kisser in the poly relationship and Ben is kinda pissed but also likes to be kissed by him

-Bill was really into 90s Leonardo DiCaprio but didn't know liking boys was a thing yet, so he thought he just wanted to look like him and tried for a while

-Bill got Georgie obsessed with horror when he was definitely too young and he always shares his new work with Georgie first

-Bill's favorite part of the holiday season is celebrating Hanukkah with Stan

-Bill and Bev take a yearly road trip just the two of them to go to an annual film festival they love but also they are both wildly attracted to this woman named Audra who's one of the organizers and they've accepted it's really a trip just to see her

-Bill and Mike both heavily annotate the books they read and then trade so they can see how each other feels or thinks as they read through each other's books

-Bill lets Richie order for him at restaurants because Richie is so attentive that he has Bill's taste in food, as well as many other things, etched into his brain and knows what he'd like anywhere they go

-Bill and Eddie are super involved with a bunch of different activist groups. The other Losers are too, but Bill and Eddie are a step above and are the most invested of all of them and they do all their things together

-I love this hc bc Bill doesn't even try to be the best at kissing, he just kinda is and none of the Losers understand it

-'didn't know liking boys was a thing yet' you perfectly summoned up Bill's sexuality for that time era. Also thinking about Bill will 90's Leo Dicaprio hair 🥰

-Georgie scared the other kids in class bc he would be like 'do you want to play monster' at recess but when he's older he absolutely eats up Bill's writing. Georgie always gets to read his new stories first

-Rose you're killing me, that's so fucking cute. Bill trips up the words because of his stutter but Stan doesn't care, just having Bill there to celebrate with him is so special

-I love the idea of Bill and Bev traveling to this annual festival just because they think one of the organizers is hot. They try to date her and Audra is so confused bc she knows they're a couple but surely they're not hitting on her right?

-Bill and Eddie showing up to every march, them going and sponsoring fundraisers, travelling to go help in the wake of disasters, I love this so much. They care about each other but they also care about the world. Also Bill is the one who holds the sign at the marches and Eddie has the megaphone. not that he needs one

i’d like the think that bev would paint richies nails to test out the color(s) before she put them on her own nails, and richie would be too lazy to take it off, resulting in him having each nail painted a different color literally every week
