wait i need to share some trivia

so for our abnormal psychology class we had to do research into a particular disorder of our choice, and we chose bi polar (mosrly focusing on bi polar 1), and apparently the ancient greeks would have manic people take baths in lithium in order to calm them down. the first documented case of bi polar disorder was by french psychiatrist Jean-Pierre Falret where he names it (translated from french) “circular insanity”. which yeah that’s what it feels like man

Just curious and genuine question, but do you ever know you’re about to have a manic episode or do certain things trigger it? and which mental illness causes it because i know you have a few. Or is it just all of them?

Trying to write a character with multiple mental illnesses and looking for people with lived experiences if they are comfortable with sharing. I saw your very colorful art you came up with during a manic episode and found it interesting. i also noticed you’re coming out with a LOT of headcanons right now (but don’t stop, they’re great XD)

i’m a psych major as well as just absurdly mentally ill, mania is an extremely interesting symptom to me because it’s caused by an overloading of dopamine in the brain, which means mania can often transition into full on psychotic/delusional episodes as overloading of dopamine is also the cause of schizophrenia. this is why bi polar patients (especially bi polar 1) taking ssris ends so badly

but anyways to answer your questions in order

1. for us personally, our manic episodes are often triggered by us getting embarrassed or overly excited, but today it just randomly happened

2. there is a shockingly large amount of disorders that have mania as a symptom. classically it’s associated with bi polar the most (hence its old name of manic-depressive disorder), BUT its also associated with NPD and BPD!

3. there is no subset of symptoms that will happen in every mental disorder. there are however categories of disorders that share similar symptoms or traits, which is your cluster a-c

4. yeahhhh we are severely mentally ill like i said. we have every cluster b disorder as well as numerous other trauma based disorders so we are a bit insane in the membrane

5. yeahhhh ,:] i’ve taken up to writing to deal with manic episodes lately. in the recent past they really quickly developed into psychotic episodes and past that suicidal episodes, which i’ve unfortunately tormented this blog with in the past. we’re still unmedicated at the moment but i’ve gotten better with knowing when a manic eosifoe starts and if it’s transitioning to a psychotic one so i can get off tumblr and go sort it out ourselves. i am gonna be talking to insurance again so we can get on medication management

And we may expect him to get all flirty but he actually gets more nervous and genuine with Edwin.

Monty becomes humanoid again and is learning who he is out on his own. Maybe he gets a job and apartment. Trying to figure out his purpose as an individual instead of familiar.

Cat King has a name, an animated backstory, and a new love interest that sees through his bullshit and keeps him humble

I have been mimicking Xia Fei's 'laoban!' for 5 minutes straight lmao. The way Vein looked back and we see a teared up Xia Fei... Ugh that's so nyaka of him tbh. There may be other reasons Xia Fei is important to the plot but Vein has a soft corner for him. It's a very irrational but strong innate voice that's telling me to have faith in my veifei and I will.

Actually, I have very few ships I am actually invested in. and crazy like this. I love reading different permutations and combinations of ships but I never emotionally invest. Johnlock, Wangxian, Shiguang...these are the only ships I am devoted to. But their own interpersonal relationships come from a...what should I say, 'clean' and 'innocent' and 'pure' background. The Cadence of Part-time Poets by @motswolo

Can I just say I don’t think I’ll ever read anything better and I might have to give up fanfiction as a whole; Harry Potter/Marauders fanfiction, anyway, because I dont think I’ve ever read anything so gorgeous— it might be better than The Perks of Being a Wallflower; my favorite book that I’ve only ever read once out of fear that reading it again will push me off a ledge I couldn’t ever come back from.

I will reread The Cadence of Part-time Poets, because I don’t really care about the ledge I’ll get pushed off of— that’s how fucking brilliant it is.

Glorious.

Dramatic review? Maybe. But I’ve found that several people online have stated they stalled on reading the last two chapters because they didn’t want to finish reading it. I’ve never been one to keep myself from reading the ending of any story, especially one I love so much.

That being said, I’m on the last chapter before the epilogue, and I can’t bring myself to start it yet. Not until I stop crying about Remus Lupin and I don’t have work the next day.

I’ll update with an in-depth review (spoilers included) once I finish it, if I can ever bring myself to try to put everything I feel about this work into words.

Before reading, let me give you some advice if you’re like me and (understandably) hesitate before reading a near million-word fanfiction

1. Don’t read it until you’re ready to

It’s a monster. I put off reading it for a year or two and the timing never felt right until now. I couldn’t be more happy that I waited until it was right (it also took me an entire week and a half, which is long for me.

2. Don’t stress over not liking the OCs, because you will— Jesus F. Chopin, I promise you will love the OCs in this fic like nothing else.

Every lovely thing everyone said about Tomny and Tonya? True and wonderful and GLORIOUS I love them so much.

3. It isn’t going to be exactly what you expect it to be—

@motswolo , thank you for this. I’m sure you get this all the time, but The Cadence of Part-time Poets touched my soul like nothing else. It made me smile and cry and it made me angry and lovesick and heartbroken and it made me feel understood.

I deal with bi-polar depression, and the way your Remus Lupin thinks makes me feel like I’m reading my own internal monologue. It has me crying and laughing and loving with him.

I didn't knew u were a respawner! That's so cool, I've been on my respawn journey for like 1-2 months, I hope this is okay to ask but how is your respawning routine? Currently I am taking a break but I would love to hear abt your respawning journey so far :>

Heyy! I'm glad I find many people who are into respawning! Actually mine's a long ass story and you might wonder how am I even doing fine to this day 😭

Okay so long story short, let's begin.

Back in 2022, I discovered shifting. After finding out about loa in 2021, I was anticipated to shift realities just to escape this one. I hated being here. I was suffering with depression, bi polar, avpd, anxiety and maladaptive daydreaming, and I was from a toxic household with narcissistic, toxic and strict parents and fake af friends. It was really hard for me to even open up to somebody. It was hard for me to handle (actually I'm tearing up rn while I type this... Especially those traumas are the worst thing I ever experienced)

When I started my research about shifting, I got into amino. I saw the word 'respawn' and I was like tf is this?? I thought it was some gaming shit and then when I researched it on amino, I really wanted to go away from here and be happier than ever. I wanted to be in peace and do whatever I want in my reality. And no one should judge or stop me from getting what I want. I quickly scripted the place I wanna respawn, and other stuffs. I decided that I will get tf outta here.

Well because I had a reason that I'll respawn, I completely ignored my 3D circumstances. Like I stopped taking care of myself, stopped talking to people around me, stopped studying, stopped doing everything. I just was desperately trying to respawn every night telling myself that I will.

When in fact I was wasting my time and energy into lack. I almost didn't study for my finals and wrote the exams and hope that I'd respawn before my results will be declared. I used to keep time crunches to respawn, and when I didn't, I used to get so depressed, that I attempted to take my own life for the first time ever back in may 2022.

My brother accidentally entered my room and saved me from doing that. When I say I've almost attempted to take my own life for like 10+ times that same year, I still didn't give up. My exam results came and I luckily passed my exams.

So after all these I decided to give a break for 3 months completely for my own mental health. Ik my journey for 2 years wasn't smooth, it was full of ups and downs, and it messed my mental health up. I wasn't even using loassumption in a proper manner at that time. Ngl, I was so damn desperate for manifesting even the smallest stuff (I just wanna time travel back in time and slap the shit outta that version of me that I was back then 💀)

So when I got into a medical university in 2023 January, I completely forgot about respawning for a while. And again in October 2023, I logged into Tumblr, and became friends with one of the respawner Julie. She was so sweet, that she even answered every stupid doubts of mine (God give me Julie's patience 🗣️🗣️) she had respawned back in October 2023.

She was the one who told me 'SELF CONCEPT IS THE KEY!' so I started working on my self concept for like 1 and a half-ish months.... Well, I wasn't even perfect with it, but I tried. I did many challenges but the meraskii one had a good effect on my mindset. So last Christmas, I even learnt about the void (I hate implying it as void, I'd rather say it as I AM state) I wanted to enter it so bad.

I just did my affs, persisted in it, and listened to subs, and on Christmas Eve, I got into it successfully.

This year, I find respawning a very relaxing topic. Like I don't even get bothered by it. I know I'm already where I wanna be. And don't worry, my mental health has been good for a few days now. I was thinking of changing my script, so for the past 2 months, I've been scripting my new reality, well still it's only half way done hehe.

By the end of this month, I'm planning on respawning through the void. So till then I just wanna be thankful for everything here and enjoy every moment here without regrets.

Everybody's journey is different. All you have to do is embody your desired state. You just have to be the version of you having your desires. Be the one who already has it. For me, that took 3 years to click. I just had to relax and give myself in. Let go and enjoy the fact that I already have my desires in the 4d.

Your eyes scan the room around you. It spins fast as the new feeling of alcohol swarms your senses. You hated the sour drink but you needed it, at least that’s what you thought.

You stumble around the party until you find a couch that doesn't currently accommodate a making out couple. You lay there for a few minutes and watch the excited friend groups laugh and giggle about situationships. Your “friends” came with you but they ran off together and you just decided to let them. You’re used to that type of treatment from everyone.

Sometimes you think about cutting them off but what would you do then? Sit alone in your apartment for the rest of your life? You made the decision to be treated badly over being alone when you were a little girl.

Now you’re a college student with no real sense of community or connection. You take another sip of the gross drink before you “rest your eyes”. It only feels like 5 minutes until you wake up with someone with their arm wrapped around you.

“Hm?” You say while rubbing your eyelids. “Hey..I just saw you asleep here and I thought you’d want some company” the girl next to you speaks. How could you possibly complain? Someone noticed you. “What time is it?” You asked while shivering in the chilly room. She tells you it’s 1 am and you roll your eyes. “What was that for?” She chuckles.

“It’s a late hour to be drunk for the first time” you mumble. “The first time?” You nod in response. “I’m not going to pester you about much but how about we just introduce ourselves?” The muscular blonde says. You sigh a yes and exchange names. Hers is Abby you are not sure why but it suits her.

She asked who you came with and you annoyingly word vomit about your shitty friends. She doesn’t say anything, instead she pulls you closer into her arms. It’s a foreign feeling but you soak it up. You don’t know why but silent tears roll over your cheeks.

This stranger makes you feel safer than anyone ever has. Most girls probably would have already made out with her yet neither of you seemed to want that.

“Hey I can take you home tonight if you’d like, you seem sleepy” you quickly stop her and beg her to not go. “I just want you to stay” your voice trembles.

Alright then how about we go to my place it’s on campus” you agree even though it’s dangerous and stupid. She grabs you by the thighs and picks you up bridal style. Your vision still isn’t back to normal but the lights illuminate her face and she’s absolutely beautiful. She’s already changing you.

kinda funny (but not really) how i had finished season 5 of 9-1-1 a few weeks before the season 7 premiere and told myself I'll take a little hiatus (like the show does) and give it maybe a month or so before i catch up and watch season 6 and then the april 4th episode happened and i'd been tuning in here and there just to see more of buck and tommy's development (because i sure as hell was going to experience bi buck in real-time and not wait whatsoever) so now i pretty much know everything that happens in season 7, and know relatively nothing about season 6 (which i've heard is probably the most polarizing season of the show) and i'm gonna have to sit through all these past storylines and pointless relationship arcs knowing what i know is in store for me come the following season... LOL...why did i do this to myself 🫠
