In modern times most karelians use these loanwords based on anglosphere views on gender and sexuality.

Traditionally speaking the views on gender and sexuality have been somewhat different, and words used have been more poetic and descriptive in many ways. Gender is seen as one role among others and as such, "mother" and "man" for example are not roles that contradict each other in any way, even if it is less common than being "woman" and "mother".

Without going into too many details here are few examples:

"On ukonvembelehes aliči käynnyh." - lit. "has walked under the reinbow*" - person who has changed their sex and role (gender) in which they live. Roughly speaking a trans person.

Example sentence: "Ozutat ilokkahambale nygöi gu olet ukonvembelehes aliči käynnyh." - "you seem happier now that you've transitioned." "Olen ukonvembelehes aliči käynnyh," - "I am trans person."

(*the association of rainbow is rooted on Karelian belief system in which person who passes from under rainbow has their sex changed, and the fact that rainbow is western lgbt+ symbol is coincidence.)

"eule yksis ruutois" - lit. "isn't in one (set of) traditional clothes" - person who travels between and beyond two genders, a "nonbinary*" person.

Example sentence: "En ole yksis ruutois." - "I am nonbinary."

*"gender binary" should be used in very loose relation to karelian traditions as "man" and "woman" are not seen as opposite ends of binary (or any other) scale any more than birch and spruce are only trees in existence or opposites to each other. Traditional views of karelians are rarely if ever linear.

Kaksńeuvoni* - lit. "person with two/many of advice/guiding/ instruction/ tools". A (visibly) intersex person.

*Please note that some people find this term offensive due to its similarity to old Finnish slur for people with ambiguous genitalia.

Example sentence: "Rodivuin kaksńeuvozenna." - "I was born intersex." "Olen kaksńeuvoni briha." - "I am intersex man."

Miehii suačii mies, brihoi suačii briha - lit. man who loves men

Unova is the 2nd oldest league with the oldest being Kalos (Kalos' was originally founded as an annual festival in celebration of the war against Paldea ending,Paldea holds a similar festival which lines up with Uva-Naranja graduations)

Central and Northern Sinnoh is very cold year around which extends to nearly the whole region in the Winter aside from Sunnyshore and Canalave which are actually quite warm

As lax as Hoenn seems it's actually one of the more volatile regions to travel to,the populace compensates for that by making the towns and cities as inviting as possible (ie Slateport's massive seaside market,Lilycove's regular hosting of national Contest Finals,ect) along with having a shockingly high happiness rate

Kalos has a charming tradition of all their fairy specialists taking up a partial dark type and vice versa with it originating from how deeply the region cherishes Xerneas and Yvetal (dragon specialists in the region also usually end up having either a dark type or a fairy type on their team)

Johto funnily enough is still mostly rural despite having the strongest economy on the continent (Goldenrod is a major hub)

Nobody actually knows where Brock came from and the only thing really known about him is that he is loosely related to Bruno (the Pewter Mining Company adopted him when he was a toddler since he didn't have any parents,turns out he's from Orre and has family in Alola)

I've actually been toying around with the idea of giving Steven an older brother who never became a trainer and instead is a member of the Hoennian Navy (the Navy is actually quite small and mainly functions as a much more well funded coastguard along with reporting to the Ranger Corps),he would be 6 years older than Steven and would take over Devon after their father gets ousted since Steven wants nothing to do with any of them anymore (still trying to come up with a name for him and leaning towards Silas or Abram,he's much more on the stern side with a serious nature and rarely ever smiles)

N and Ghetsis are fully related (reading through the Underwater Ruin's text again with the story of the king gave me an idea what to do with N's character),N is the one who inherited the King's Blood whereas Ghetsis didn't,it was Ghetsis who wiped out his bloodline (N was an infant,the pokemon who raised him belonged to his Mother and Father and the Zorua having hatched around the same time that he was born),N is 19 at the time of Unova Arc

Sycamore and Lysandre aren't officially together but they do flirt with each other on occasion with the professor bringing him his favorite strawberry macarons and Lysandre taking Sycamore out to dinner in Annistar during the meteor showers

1. What are the basics about you? (ex. name, age, gender, sexuality, etc.)

Quentin’s his name. (Quentin Oak, since him and Blue are married!!!) Blue turned 39 this year, making my S/I probably 37 or 38. Quentin is a trans guy and bi.

7. How does your story in canon play out? How do you alter the storyline of the original story?

I’ve thought about the lore for this one a lot. As a young child, Drayden sent me to go train with Lance in Kanto. There, I was taken care of by Agatha and Lance (along with being sent over to Professor Oak’s one day). I met Blue briefly, but didn’t like him since he was mean. My first Pokémon was an Axew, hatched from an egg given to me by Drayden. (My Axew is the child of his Haxorus.) My second Pokémon is a Dratini that I was given by the Elder at Dragon’s Den in Johto, after being recommended to him by Lance. After a bit there, I go back home. In a few years, I go on an adventure in Unova (before the B/W games take place), and end up winning the Champion title, which I defend for a while before leaving to go adventure somewhere else, leaving the Champion seat to Alder. I go to Johto and then Kanto, where I meet Lance (and his cousin Clair) and Agatha again. I win the Championship in Johto, too, and immediately rush to get the badges from Kanto, as well. Blue is the final Gym Leader in Kanto and then we fall in love. (I still beat him 👍.)

During the events of B2/W2, the city that I live is encased in ice and Blue can’t get ahold of me and he’s super worried.

And before Alola, me and Blue get married! And I come to Alola as well, although I’m there more for a vacation than like his work reason, and we still get down time where we get to hang out. Super in love.

10. What is your "role" in the story? Main character? Villain? Side character?

This depends on like the time, I guess. I tend to put my S/I in a similar situation as the G/S/C protags, but I don’t think he completely takes their place. So he’s probably a side character who pops up in a lot of games and places. (And Blue’s canon love interest 💍💍💍!)

... This may be seen as an invasive question but, how on earth did you and Alder even meet in the first place? Both of you are complete opposites in every regard, it's hard to imagine both of you getting along let alone having a child. This certainly makes things with Ryuki difficult, for your organisation detests Pokeballs while Alder's whole career relies on them.

I feel this discussion with Ryuki should be discussed with Alder first, it'll be hard to come to a middle ground otherwise.

Invasive, yes- but warranted, I suppose. We met in college. Back when our ideals weren't quite so misaligned.

We didn't share similar majors, mind you. I was in business, he was in biology, but we shared prerequisite courses which caused us to meet often. I'm sure you know how these things go. I rather admired his love for pokémon and the world around him. He was driven and well-spoken, not to mention kind. I assume he still is, to some capacity. Not that it matters.

We were able to get along as we did because Team Plasma was barely even a concept at the time, and he wasn't among the Elite Four, so our careers weren't so overwhelmingly at odds. Our little excursion together wasn't a long time, maybe a little over two years spent dating; He was experimental to me, seeing as I was... bi-curious, I guess you could say. Gradually, as I began to conceptualize Team Plasma and he began to chase pokémon battle after pokémon battle, we came to recognize we were incompatible. I couldn't convince him to support this cause, and he couldn't convince me that the Pokémon League isn't the wretched thing that it is. So we departed. We hadn't planned on having a child, though Alder did speak of wanting one. I wonder if he tampered with our contraceptives to fulfill that wish...

Pah. No matter... What's done is done. I don't believe he would have, anyway. It doesn't seem like him.

So most Hypokits would be actual ones but I couldn’t get the idea out of my head of if Spark and Alder were SquirrelJessy kits. Sp here’s my take on them! Rosyheart and Firebite!

Rosyheart is cis using she/her and ace. She’s a healer and endlessly anxious always tripping over her two paws and falling straight on her face. She’s pink cuz I wanted her to be. She would have the same arc as Alderheart in canon, her relationship with Needletail purely platonic (tho some could counter it as a romance), and losing her a great blow to her heart. I not so subtly made her tail a rose. I think she’d be closer with Twig and Violet and fight a bit more for them as she’s more family oriented having such great parents. After AVOS she’d visit Violet a lot esp when she’s expecting, hearing that one of her kits was named Needlekit actually made her cry.

Firebite is genderfluid using she/he and is bi. Named directly after Squilf’s father Firestar she had heavy weight on his head though she used it to counter the worry about his front legs. She was born without them simple as that. While some tried to tell him she couldn’t be a ‘regular’ warrior he knew that already, she was to be far better then any ole normal cat! He made a few new maneuvers to beat her enemies, the snake strike, where he’d weave and confuse her enemy as much as possible. Would eventually get with Larksong and still have their kits but her arc would be what it should’ve been. She helps get Bramble to step down, fully supports her mom in becoming leader, and has a much better support system when she loses Lark.

Dark red is on his ears, hair tuft, nose, stripes on the side of his face, eyebrow, down her back in striped, tail base, back of her paws in flame like stripes, and on her chest in a flame pattern. Cream is on his tail tip, chin, ear tips, chest, and back paws. The faint signature “Nightly Ruse” on her body. End ID)
