also, i will not be accepting/considering anyone’s audio interpretations re: TFS unless they can tell me the name of the everly brothers song that bob plays on the radio in the first act- why? because i was able to hear & interpret that tiny tiny clip of song audio accurately enough to find not only the exact song, but the exact recording of the song that bob used (a lot of the songs used in TFS have multiple versions that arent clearly labelled as such/are labelled as being the same/lots of old songs in general have that).

hell, I managed to figure out the names of every single one of the eldridge’s crew members & subtitle all of their lines accordingly based just on the sound of their voices/without being able to see who was speaking when.

so, point is, i have quite a bit of experience re: figuring out tfs audio & i also saw it live & have notes that i took during the play that i use to cross-reference if the recording audio itself is unclear in parts (as the live audio is, of course, clearer than any recordings).

Idk like it's been over 10 years since the end of the show but Malia and Scott are still weird around each other? What happened? No mention of Kira? Liam and Scott didn't interact at all? A lot of unanswered questions. I'd watch it again for Eli and Derek but overall, it's fine.

I've always seen Helluva boss as a show that try so hard to be something isn't, and after reading your articles about BoJack horseman and how hb directly borrowed some of its ideas . It's started to make sense so here's my take:

Helluva boss can't be BoJack or anti-BoJack , there is room for inspiration sure . But the difference between two shows make it odd whenever someone try to compare them. Since BoJack is story of American man who happened to have a horse head, therefore the protagonist is forced to obey the morality rules that we as audience have . Helluva boss is story of demons live in society that only value violence , the rules of morality is broken in this world so where it makes sense for the show to calls out BoJack's toxic dating patterns, why should i care for blitzø's that man cannonly makes fun of children deaths of cours he's not a good partner. Another thing that BH like other many adults cartoon is critical of American culture (Hollywood culture for BoJack case) and while HB trying to do the same it only water down its world , you can point out to something relatable to our society without loosing the fantasy elements in your world especially if your otherworldly character travel to the human world constantly and see it from stranger point of view, but hb didn't do that it just turned the hell to american , and maybe this is thing bugs only me as non-western . It would be more entertaining if we explore the hellish society as something new and fresh.

These are excellent points. There's a saying in writing that goes "Write what you know". The team who wrote Bojack knew the ins and outs of that Hollywood bubble due to professional experiences. And because Bojack was written by a diverse team of creative people, they even addressed how eating meat would work in a universe with sentient animals. They had the experience and knowledge of setting as well as basic life experience to ask obvious questions in the name of world building.

It's why I argue that Medrano appears to be someone with very few life experiences. Not only does her story lack emotional depth, having a shallow well to draw from, but basic rules of world building are neglected in a way that is very obvious due to a lack of human curiosity.

Writing what you know isn't supposed to be limiting. Instead it's supposed to challenge you to ask more questions. Expand what you know to incorporate it into your imagination.

I don't think it's worth coming up with new and creative ways to express my thoughts on the intelligence of these people again, only to reiterate that the issue is not that Campaign 3 subverts Campaigns 1 and 2 but rather expects the paradigms of those campaigns to be subverted without doing any of the work to actually do so - we have seen a single case of Vasselheim colonization that was oddly bloodless itself (the ley line nexus swap probably killed more residents of Hearthdell than the missionaries did until the town rebelled and attacked them - hold that thought) and has been treated as a widespread phenomenon with no outside evidence. People have started to point to Abbadina as being unfairly maligned despite Laudna calling the people there ignorant and entire situation a "pissant town in a pissant squabble" (3x61, around 3:40:00) and Abbadina saying herself she believes morality is innate (3x61, around 3:57:00), and, perhaps most damningly, the fact that Abbadina is, as a former Hishari member, undeniably complicit in the trajectory of Ashton's life for which they keep blaming the gods, because they refuse to blame their parents. We are dealing with fans who are devoid of empathy for anyone unlike them. I've been chipping away at some postcolonial texts myself, as someone who is admittedly not an expert in the topic, but I was struck by this quote from bell hooks (taken from the discussion of the subaltern on Wikipedia, but I've ordered the book it's from):

I don't think the cast are deliberately making an anticolonial or leftist work - I think it's just kind of a mess that has stumbled into a semi-interesting worldstate with a generally selfish group of PCs that people are reading their small and petty desires into- but if they were (and certainly if they themselves claim to be doing so), I'd have to say that quote applies. I certainly think it's applying to the fans. An Autism Speaks approach to colonialism, one might say. It doesn't matter how detailed your spreadsheet is. We will never know all the times any of them spend together -- and we shouldn't. So picking the ones we know, or think we know, and saying that's 1) comprehensive or 2) that we know the significance is dumb.

People are allowed to have friends. I will never understand this argument that in order for one ship to be true, the other dynamics must be negative. There are several reasons why these are the two top ships, but one is that there is a genuine closeness. Jk and JM stayed up and played video games. Ok. So? If either was dating a woman, would this late night game sesh make you question it? It's weird. It also ignores a prominent third dynamic (which I think should get more shine): vmin - who are clearly close and love each other and have done for over a decade. But ok, if birthdays are your thing...none of them have said it's actually their thing. In fact, hasn't it been said that JM is the only one who is really into birthdays? JM and Hobi are regularly the only ones doing postings for everyone. The rest are pretty inconsistent. Tae who has said him and his siblings don't even recognize each other's birthdays. The same way people hype that video of JK wishing JM happy birthday -- would make sense if your close friend really prioritizes birthdays. This sounds more like a difference of personal preference.

And of course there is just the blinding inconsistency. They are closeted and need to hide their love; no they are filming their honeymoon! They are hanging out (from what we, the anonymous strangers of the internet know) and that is the measure of romance; nope, psych, they are tooo busy and it's actually kinda suspicious if you hang out publicly like that, clearly bro behavior. You can't only point at a specific period of time (that time being the present) to prove a relationship; see, it all comes down to a few nights in 2018.

Remember when Friends came out, and Inkigayo and type 1 and all these things this year... Posting this ask in good faith and trusting you are actually neutral in this.. please don't go crazy on me.. I just went through that with another blog last week 🙈.

I'm sure that when you are someone who doesn't believe any of the guys are dating all shipping fandoms look the same. I'm well aware that while I am answering this ask right now, most will look at my answer and say 'she's a Tkkr, she's delusional and not give my words any actual thought. And to be honest, most of my beliefs do stem from how I interpret Tae and Jk's interactions and the way their body's speak. My thoughts on that should not actually matter, because I am a stranger on the internet 😂.

I think for me, the biggest difference between how Tkkrs think and how Jkkrs think is that Jkkrs believe a queer couple from the same band are being allowed so much openness. I mean, Jk and Jm are not limited in their interactions at all. We can beat around the bush, but Jk and Jm are the main focus of Bh when it comes to BTS. They are made use of hugely. That does not undermine that their friendship is real (it's making use of your biggest strenghts really) but it does undermine that they are in a relationship, in my opinion. I do not believe that BH (a SK company) would treat an in band couple the way they treat Jm and JK.

I understand why Jkkrs believe though, at least.. to a certain point. The moments they use, like Rosebowl, like hickey gate, like those times Jm comes close to Jk's face and acting like he's about to kiss him.. those look sus when you isolate them BUt, when you look beyond those isolated moments, you know that that is exactly what they are. Jm has those moments with Hobi and Tae as well for instance. Probably not as often, because Hobi doesn't entertain it as much and Tae actually gets Jm flustered when he goes that way. Jk and Jm though have the same type of banter... they are.. matched in that way I think. They aren't actually flirting, they are play-flirting. And these are my words ofcourse and no-one will value those, because I'm a Taekooker, but I do think that that's what it is. Maybe because you are neutral, you recognize that that's what it is also. I don't see anything actually sus between Jm and Jk. I think everything they do fit easily in the realm of friendship. A friendship that has a lot of banter and is definitely deep, but a platonic friendship nevertheless. I never feel the need to downplay anything Jm and Jk do, because it just is what it is and I love that for them.

Tae and Jk is a whole different story though. And admittingly, you do have to believe in things being hidden and lies having been told. You have to believe that there are ugly parts to their story. I don't even really want to believe those parts, because they are hurtfull and they mean that Tae and Jk (and all members by association) have gone through shit. There will have been many tears and fights, and feelings of shame and insecurity. That's not something I want for them, but I do feel that has been a part of their lives. I think there is no way that a company like BH would allow a queer couple from the same band to freely interact. I think BH would have come up with a way to keep the band from being in a potential scandal. They had big plans for BTS (which they accomplished) and the risk of queer allegations becoming too strong would have been too high in the eyes of those who call the shots. What I see between Tae and Jk fits how I feel a queer idol couple would be treated in SK music industry. It does set us as a fandom up for misunderstandings though, it can't actually be any other way. So our thoughts willl always be hunches and never about having actual proof. A closeted couple can't give us proof. What we do have, is a ton of patterns and a ton of repetitive behavior. It's the shear amount of consistent bahavior that makes us feel strongly about them being together. You can only understand this, if you look into that amount.. it is simply not possible to understand this if you don't. Me explaining this with all the words I have will never do the actual situation justice. So basically this whole ask is just me ranting without actually being able to convey the realness of Takook 😂.

I think many people don't actually realize the amount of times Jk and Tae are holding back movements, and biting away smiles, or are holding back jealousy. It's something Tkkrs know, because we pay attention. It's not something we invent, the moments are there and people can just look them up. You will not find that between any other pairing within BTS. Another thing is that many people also don't realize how much Tae and Jk actually move towards each other. After 2016 they weren't the focus of footage much anymore, so people are quick to miss it. But in the background, when other members are the focus.. they gravitate to each other. Again, not something we make up.. it is all in the footage, people just don't notice.

Without wanting to open this up to Jm hate (and I'm gonna elaborate.. don't worry😁), I think Tae did have a problem with Jk and Jm at times. This is what I mean with the nasty parts that come with this. It's not all pretty, and it probably affected the other members too. It was pretty obvious actually at times. Rolling his eyes and whatnot. I'll do you one better. Jk also had a problem with Tae and other members at times, we can clearly see him annoyed at times when Tae was close with someone else. They were fickle about it though, there's times when they didn't care and there were times when it probably just hit differently. People are fickle in their reactions though. Different situations make for differnt reactions, that are influenced by many different factors. The reason why I don't blame Jm for this is that Jm did nothing wrong. On top of that, Tae, Jk and Jm know each other so much better than that fandom knows them. When Jm and Jk make a joke about ramen in front of Tae, Tae knows how to read that. When Jm goes to flirt with Tae, Jk knows how to read that. These men know each other, they know what each other's intentions are. Tae knows that Jm isn't trying to steal Jk from him.

I'm fully convinced that vminkook had conversations about the shipping wars. I think I see an adjustment in how they deal with it. It is clear to me, that Jm is aware of Tae and Jk. I think these three obviously chose to not let fandom shenanigans stand in the way of them interacting. While Tae was annoyed at Jkk moments at times, he cares about Jk and Jm too much to want them to adjust the way they interact. I can't speak for Jkkrs on this.. but I'd hope it's the same for them.

Comparing Tkk and Jkk is not something that I actually do when consuming BTS content. I know I've done it on here, because I literally get asked to do it 😂. But Jkk isn't a factor for me. Jm is their best friend. Obviously he plays a role in their lives, but I don't go and think.. wait Jm did this with Jk how does that affect Tae? I'm sure Jkkrs want to do the same, but yet everytime one of them comes here they hit me with the comparisons. I do wish that things were different. I think this is very unpleasant for Jm, Jk and Tae. Those men love each other to bits and I think large parts of fandom make it really hard for them to keep loving us.

Well, I'm sure this has been hugely unsatisfactory and I made no difference in your understanding of Tkk fandom😂 . I'm also a very small part in all this, I'm fully aware that there is madness going on everywhere.. Tkkrs are not excluded from that at all.

The thing I dislike the most about c3 is how it damaged c1&c2. Not just Vax but it weakened Keyleth and VM as characters. Keyleth has proven unable to move on, wallowing in anger and self pity instead of respecting the man she loves choices. She is stagnant. They way she was played in combat at the key is so unlike any combat Marisha would do for her that it makes Keyleth look stupid. Beau and Caleb after 7 years apparently can't figure out and track down Ludinus but BH can in 5 months?

That said, I wouldn't agree with that characterization of Keyleth. She's successfully led the Ashari for 30+ years at this point, and she's maintained enough respect among foreign representatives that she can vouch for complete strangers--including a Ruidusborn--to the collective governments present at Vasselheim. She convinced them to trust Bell's Hells to undertake sensitive missions on their behalf. That is not something someone who wallows in anger and self-pity could achieve. I also didn't see her actions or statements as disrespecting Vax's choices, even if she disagreed with him. She is angry, and she is still grieving her relationship with Vax, but that does not detract from her accomplishments in the meantime.

In addition, I'm not going to criticize D&D players for their combat choices. I don't know what undisclosed strategies Marisha and the other players had created back in C1, during one-shots, or right before the Malleus Key fight. I'm not going to second guess her choices, especially when there is an element of guess work to sorting out the highest priority targets in the face of an enemy who keeps attacking until he misses. Of all the elements of an actual play show, combat is the facet where I am least critical, especially during level 20 combat after years of playing entirely different classes.

As for tracking down Ludinus, he was in plain sight for most of those 7 years because he was the leader of the Cerberus Assembly. If he managed to keep the Augen Trust (which is loyal to King Dwendal, who dislikes sharing power) from exposing his plans, I am not surprised that he prevented the entire Cobalt Soul, including Beau and Caleb, from doing it either. Only the highest ranking members of the Ruby Vanguard knew details of Ludinus's plans. We could debate how/why Matt may have made mistakes in using Ludinus as a villain antagonist, but avoiding capture isn't one of them. In fact, avoiding a hunt by pretty much the entire known world for 5 months when he has no remaining allies is quite a feat.

However, I do share that feeling that the stories of C1 and C2 are cheapened by how C3 was resolved. The retcons, bringing Vax back, the apathetic handling of organized religion and personal belief, etc. It leaves a very sour taste to have enjoyed those aspects of prior campaigns and then engage with a sequel where we learn that actually the cast thinks none of that was important. Any inkling the audience may have had about their sincerity had actually just been acting, and they find it more important is that their PCs are always heroes and get happy endings regardless of the choices they make.

That took a certain magic out of the whole thing, and I don't know that CR can ever get that back.

It's just how occurring to me how long it's been - if ever - since the Hells met people just. Organically. Not shopkeepers they were looking to buy from or captains to fly their ship, not a guy experimenting on werewolves or beat cops that half recruit them. Deanna and FRIDA are (so far) not here to accomplish anything but getting team Wildemount to Uthodurn. As far as we know, there's nothing they want from BH as a group.

And that means this is the first time we've seen people interacting with them as just that. People. Deanna wraps a blanket around FCG as a gesture of kindness because her very heart friend is an aeormaton and she knows they need and benefit from kindness. FRIDA plays back the sound of Imogen's laughter and earnestly asks after her. Nobody asks why FCG can operate autonomously. Nobody asks to pop him open. Imogen doesn't have to lie them out of anything. Our new friends ask, reasonably, if they're safe with these four people who are equally strangers to them, but that's it. Everything else is just some fresh outside perspective on part of a group we've spent 200 hours with.

Things are still going down in the background, of course, but the fact that there's nothing they can do about that but keep moving enforces a kind of downtime and casual stakes outside of their established dynamics that's doing so, so much for the story. I can't wait for more. The solstice picked up the story and set it off, but this episode maintained that attention without the immediate stakes in a way that's been needed for a while. Excellent choices. A breath of fresh air, despite.

- adhd KING.

- mike is actually pretty good mates with julian and robin specifically - as good as you can be with incorporeal enteties you cant see or hear. he and robin both learnt a sort of morse code to communicate with general lights, and a stranger things system in one of the non-public rooms of BH. julian uses fridge magnets (word ones and letter ones) to talk to him, as well as keyboards. yes they often use their skills to take the absolute piss, but sometimes they INVOLVE him in their mischief.

- similarly, he can sort of communicate with mary? she walks through him if she really needs his attention, or sets off a smoke alarm (not the house ones, but extra ones they put at person-level). she always says good morning when he and alison come for breakfast :)

- even after he figures out the ghosts arent floating above him, he still looks up and away from them if they've been pricks just to piss them off.

- him and obi have known each other since nursery or reception. when alison married mike she FULLY understood that she was getting obi as part of the package. mikes parents ring obi every christmas and send him presents. they are like his second set of parents.

PLAGUE GHOSTS

- mick absolutely has a crush on cap after s4. cap is far too oblivious to notice though.

- geoff and jean are absolutely an item now. divorce wasnt really a thing back in their day? so geoff and his wife (lollys ghost) just kept on trucking until news of divorce trickled down to the basement (DECADES late) and they immediately were like "oh fuck this marriage." they're better friends now, and jean and geoff are happy :)

- speaking of jean, when walter left nigel behind during "about last night", jean absolutely tore him a new aresehole when she found out. nobody can stand a sad nigel and his big baby blue doe eyes.

- jemima isnt part of the plague pit. shes from a later plague, but she visits reasonably often because the basement folks are like her. she doesnt scare or disgust them, they're like a big family of uncles and aunts to her. however... she doesnt stay down there. she knows she makes the basement folk a little sad, since she reminds them of their own kids - none of whom have stayed as ghosts until the current time. so she drifts in and out. the basement folk are actually delighted by her visits and encourage her to stay more - yes, she does remind them of their long gone kids, and that is sad, but they dont hold it against her and love her company enough it doesnt matter. she doesnt quite believe them though :(

- nigel is very much a caretaker of the group. which is funny because ALL the other ghosts take care of him <3. especially jean. shes very much a mum of the group.

Hi! Just as an add to the Laudna conversation, the description made of her story as one of someone who "experienced decades-long fear, rejection, and abuse to then get an idyllic happy ending left alone with one's romantic partner" is... pretty much beat for beat the common understand of "Cinderella" as a fairy tale, down to the marriage that fixes all your problems, minus becoming royalty at the end.

Which makes it laughable to say that the only way you can find Laudna's story to be boring is if you just "don't understand her character" when Cinderella is pretty commonly seen as the vanilla ice cream of fairy tales in that it is sweet but not very complex.

And that's without going into the fact that many versions of Cinderella exhibit much more agency, in trying to get what she wants in whatever ways she can under horrible circumstances, as well as exhibit much more genuine, unselfish kindness towards others than Laudna and BH in general ever did for people who weren't in their party.

Honestly what gets me more is like. I struggle to express this because I have to hold back the level of contempt I have for the sort of person who sees a stranger on the internet say "I don't like this thing" in an untagged post and interpret it as them being personally judged or attacked. They have hallucinated a hellish prison for themselves and are attacking me because I happened to walk past them and didn't reach through the bars to pat them on the head. Like there's something broken and wrong with people who do this, and to be clear, it's something they can fix if they actually started seeing other people as having the same level of rich inner life and inviduality as they did, but they don't because they're self-obsessed and stupid.

but also like, idk what to tell you, Laudna's story is wicked boring and she's not a very well made character, you are allowed to like her despite this and I'm allowed to not like her because of this, we could both live in harmony if you left me alone because I don't go on other people's posts like that!
