If I get two...(why not it's a meme!) I wish you would right a fic where Kathryn and Beverly go to the theater.

The building has been decorated to look like something from early 20th century Earth, and Beverly takes Kathryn’s hand as she leads her through the rows of red, velvet seats. The sculpted arches swoop above their heads in grand waves, covered in intricate carvings.

“I didn’t know places like this still existed outside the holodeck,” Kathryn looks around in amazement.

Beverly smiles, “I used to come here all the time while I was at the Academy.”

“Not all of us were as cultured in our Academy days as the Dancing Doctor,” Kathryn teases. “It’s beautiful.”

“Here,” Beverly indicates two seats, checking the tickets again. They’re old fashioned. Paper.

She keeps hold of Kathryn’s hand until Kathryn is settled in her seat, then lets their fingers slip apart. Kathryn’s fingers are cold at the loss.

“Are you finally going to tell me what we’re seeing, now?” she turns to Beverly.

Beverly tilts her head back and laughs, “You’re as bad as Jean-Luc, you know that?”

Kathryn can’t help but notice how beautiful she looks like this.

“It’s an old Earth musical.”

“Called?”

Beverly pauses and smiles slyly, “Kiss Me, Kate.”

Kathryn’s eyes widen as the lights dim and the orchestra begins to play. Beverly’s not looking at the stage, and neither is she.

Beverly cocks her head; a gentle question.

Kathryn’s eyes fall to Beverly’s lips, her heart racing as Beverly reaches over to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, thumb softly caressing Kathryn’s cheek.

They lean in, oblivious to the opening number of the show and the audience around them.

“Kiss me, Kate?” Beverly repeats, their lips inches apart.

Kathryn does.

I guess it's the perfect time to share this drawing! Prodigy brought me a lot of inspiration. 💙

As someone who has shipped P/C since 1994 and JC since 2006. I just want to say:

Continuing justice for Jean Luc and Kathryn!

( No, no! Not as a ship, you can stop screaming in horror now, I have not abandoned my soulmate pairs)

But as characters:

They both get a very bad wrap for being addicted or married to duty. And in some ways they are, it’s true!

But as confirmed by Picard season 3, Jean Luc says he would have wanted a shot at being a husband to Beverly, from his own lips! And he says that he would have wanted to be a father. She may not have known either of those things, but it doesn’t make them any less fact.

He was also openly affectionate to her, sometimes in public during TNG. Riker knew about them, he says as much to Jack. No one on the crew bats an eye about Jack in fact.

JL and Bev were about as subtle as an air horn set on low volume. Trying to be circumspect, but actually being a billboard for lifetime love. Heck even Shaw knew and we had never met him before. People don’t know that much about a relationship if one person in it is solely married to duty.

And Kathryn! Miss Ma’am let Chakotay build her a bathtub while still trying to get off the planet. She cried at his speech, even though it was so mushy, it could have been day old oatmeal. Why? Because she knew he meant it. ( and I as a mushy viewer, appreciated him being that honest about his feelings too)

She let him give her a rose in Coda and she struggled mightily with his disappointment in her several times in later seasons. Her counterpart in Shattered was also very openly interested in how far they went in seven seasons. (Shoot your future shot lady! Go you!) and no one thinks S7 Kathryn was totally cool with C/7 right? Her face said otherwise. Admiral Janeway, was also heartbroken in about six ways, only two of which were Seven dying and Tuvok getting sick.

She also seemingly, from what I’ve read, made it part of her goal to find him in Prodigy too. Like Jean-Luc with Beverly, when Chalotay is lost, she will seek.

So while yes, duty sometimes sidetracks each of them. they are loving people who adore their other halves as well. They are complex.

And that’s part of why I love each pair, for the devotion that both of the partners in each relationship feel and how they navigate it together.

True love must flow from each heart to make a sustainable ship

And so I hope that as much as we discuss the duty bound Admirals and those who love them, that we also keep discussing and writing about their softer sides and the ways they show that love in return.

I used to watch those holos - of dogs reuniting with their owners after years apart - with a healthy dose of skepticism. I always thought they must be rigged somehow, or maybe the owner hadn’t really been away all that long. For seven years, I never dared let myself hope that I might be in for such a greeting, and yet here I am, my face covered in dog slobber and my own tears and all because Molly remembers me.

She starts to settle and for the first time, I realize we are being watched. My mother leans against the door frame with a smile on her face and a steaming mug of something (coffee, I hope) in her hand. I’ve seen her since arriving, of course, at Starfleet headquarters and over com calls, but the vision of her now completes the image of home that I have carried in my mind's eye for so long. My heart swells with gratitude as I stand, brush myself off, reshoulder my Starfleet-issue duffle bag, and walk up the two steps to meet her.

“Are you sure you don’t want to start with something a little smaller? A boot, maybe?” she purrs at him with a gleam in her eye that tells Chris she is definitely up to something.

“Oh, I’m sure. The scant. Hand it over,” he confirms, holding out a hand and wiggling his fingers.

Una stands and walks close to him, her finger tips playing with the hem of her very short dress. She doesn’t remove it though. Instead, she leans in and whispers in his ear, “Here’s the thing, Captain: I never said we were playing strip poker.”

Chris stands there with his mouth hanging open as Una struts away toward the bedroom, still fully clothed. He replays the evening in his head and realizes that, in fact, she had never once requested an item of clothing from him. He had eagerly removed something of his own volition each time he lost a hand, blinded by the anticipation of when she would have to do the same.

And now, standing alone in the middle of the living room in the oh-so-attractive combination of mismatched underwear and socks, he only has himself to blame.

Always a Bridesmaid (and that’s just fine) (ST: Picard, sort of?, Beverly and Kathryn attend Jean-Luc’s wedding to Laris. Beverly could not care less that she’s not the bride.)

Beverly knew this to be true now, because as she walked down the aisle on Jack’s arm, her eyes were drawn past the groom to the officiant: her Kathryn, radiant, even in that potato sack of a dress uniform. Radiant in anything, really, and also in nothing, because her radiance came from somewhere inside - from a light that only Beverly could see because it shone just for her. She’d never seen anything like it before, not from Jean-Luc, not even from the first Jack Crusher. The only thing that even came close was the lights that shone from her sons’ eyes when they were newborns and she was their entire world. Those lights faded, though, naturally over time as they grew and their worlds expanded.

But Kathryn’s light… If anything, it grew brighter and stronger with each passing day - each passing moment. She was sure that Kathryn could see it too, from the way that her eyes sometimes crinkled when she looked at Beverly, as if she were looking into the sun. And this is how Beverly knew, beyond any doubt, that she and Kathryn are meant to be together.

Kathryn Janeway is a mess (and I love her). Dating her is hard mode. Not for th actual dates, she'd be fun and spontaneous and funny. She'd come up with good dates (as long as she wasn't cooking). The emotional mess of it...would be a lot.

Captains are hard to date. When I was younger I wanted Kathryn to date on the ship and fall in love on the ship and be happy. Have babies. (this is a part of happiness for most fictional characters I ship). She even said she sort of wanted them once, so...that's like canon.

Younger me liked Chakotay and Janeway. He's sweet, he's there. He sometimes calls her on her shit. They're cute together. They seem like the very good friends who could at any time flick the switch and start dating. (like Will and Deanna and Jean-Luc and Beverly...the foundation is there, they're friends something more and could be more if they just let it happen.).

Older me sort of stumbled on Beverly/Kathryn, because I wrote aa fic where they were friends, and then it occurred to me they could be more than friends. That everything I wanted for Kathryn could come from Beverly and all that I wanted Beverly to have could come from Kathryn.

Things I adore about them together -

They're both scientists

patience, love of drama, snappy tempers

passion (they'd be fun in bed together)

Anyone who dates on a Starship in a position of power has to be willing to do the terrible thing and either allow the person the love to be killed or even be the person who does ends their life. Beverly is, and we've seen her do it. There's this acute awareness of the greater good in Beverly, and I think Kathryn has that (and would need it).

They'd be fabulous together.

DAY 7 - STAR TREK FEMSLASH WEEK 2023

Beverly comes back from her first solo away mission with a certain surprise bundle for Kathryn and the rest of Voyager.

So I just finished reading the autobiography of picard and I gotta say there is so much we could’ve had. Beverly becomes captain of her own ship and she and Picard are married, she’s off searching space and he’s an ambassador to Vulcan. Just think, Raffi could’ve been an upcoming Lieutenant that Beverly takes under her wing and one day Janeway asks Beverly for a favour: to take on Seven as her first officer and also Icheb. They all become a family and yes, Seven has formally adopted Icheb as her son, then Picard mentions a Romulan refugee in need of a family and that he’s far too old to have a child but maybe Seven and Raffi could take him in. The voyager family and tng family all interact at different points and everything is fine.
