Heyyyy I made another Between You, Me and the Fence Post fanart piece (based on a Shaw pack ranch AU fanfic written by @taelonsamada ) since this was another scene that my brain had a vivid image for. This scene is also from chapter 12, when Darlin' and David are having cousin bonding time and putting up trail cams around the property.

Pretend that the bag, that Darlin' has the trail cameras in, is on the other side of the horse. And they are supposed to be walking their horses through a tall amount of snow, but i wanted to draw hoof prints, so ig also pretend that the trees kept the snow from really piling up in that one spot idk XD. My brain also figured that it stopped snowing for a bit at this point in the chapter (since this is right after the Milo and Chuck scene that I drew earlier), so we have a sunny-snow scene.

I really went to town with shading and stuff. I was working on this for, like, 4 days. Mostly because I kept taking naps but also because I got the dimensions/pov wrong in the sketch so I had to rework it A LOT. But I'm pretty proud of it :) i think it looks cute and i also like that I have sort of a facial headcanon for both David and Darlin' now. And I guess my new art style is gonna go for more realistic vibes because I like how this looks a lot.

The Peris Ravenell Post: why you should read Keys Are People Too for this soggy excuse of a man

This is a lengthy post, which is why I added the… thingy, whatever it’s called… but I promise promise it’s entertaining and it also took me like two days to put together when I’m supposed to be writing Chapter 120. That chapter’s sad, okay, I need to get out the feels by bullying Ravenell some, aight.

I recommend at least scrolling through. Especially if you know nothing about Keys Are People, Too. And also if you do.

Okay, first things first:

I HAVE A LIST OF REASONS FOR WHY HE IS THE BEST WORST

Reason 1: He Has Iconic Moments

This man is the most stupid, inconvenient man to ever exist. He is perpetually confused and perpetually confusing. The worst part is he wasn’t even supposed to be, he was supposed to be a background character without hardly any substance. Well he’s still gossamer, in ways, but he has also muscled his way into the plot for no reason other than to DRIVE CHASE CRAZY and provide a character foil to… *checks notes* is this supposed to say “the monkey”???

Someone (me) is unable to track these down at the moment so check the comments for iconic moments (comment your favorite Ravenell moments do my dirty work pleeeease)

Reason 2: We Love To Roast Him

So if you’re in the fan server or the AO3 comments you might not understand this completely, so let me indoctrinate you into the objective best view of Peris Ravenell: in that he is a pathetic, wimpy, soggy man and we love him for it. He doesn’t know how to dance. He doesn’t know how to cook. If his wife actually liked them they would be the epitome of girlboss/boyfailure. He’s like if margarine was a man. “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better.” Except one look at him and it’s very easy to believe.

These are so easy to rattle off. I could go for hours.

And screw you, maybe I will.

So... yeah. It's the funniest thing ever. That is in fact, fact.

Reason 3: We Ship Him With Tree Guy From "Love Between the Christmas Trees"

If you have not read “Love Between the Christmas Trees” by proseburia on AO3, you are missing out. Not only is it a very well written and funny story, it includes Ravenell’s one, always and forever love, Tree Guy.

His name is Nick. We don’t call him Nick.

Prose’s story revolves around Chase and Deacon going into a Hallmark movie style book, in which they meet Chase’s character’s love interest, Tree Guy—a lumberjack who loves all things to do with Christmas and his hometown. Like Ravenell, Tree Guy is so straight he can hardly turn corners.

Naturally this means we head-canon them as secretly in love forever and ever, the bromance of the century, a duo so dynamic NASA wants to study it.

I even started making fanart of them, but… I stopped. Because I got lazy.

Reason 5: The Monkey

Ravenell’s number one nemesis in Keys Are People, Too is a monkey by the name of Jaabu that belongs to Buddy’s character, Lady Spicula. Jaabu hates the duke for no discernible reason and will go to any length to wound the duke’s pride (and sometimes just wound him in general), out of apparent personal enjoyment. She also often seems to embody the audience in their frequent desire to throttle Ravenell, so I’ve been told. (I think it’s loving?)

I nominated myself for three categories, the fanfiction category, the Sam fan category and the Adam fan category. In regards to the fanfiction, since we can only offer one as qualification, I feel like there’s only one fic I can use 😁

I’ve become borderline infamous for this fic, not only for how long it has become (with plenty more on the way!) but also with how bad I am about posting chapters that are anywhere between 7 to 10k 😅

As for providing proof as to why I am the #1 Sam fan? I have written 36 fanfics, and only 11 of them do not have Sam in them 🤣 I also have almost a dozen more fics on the way which feature him prominently and sometimes (read as ‘often’) carnally 😉 I adore my old man cowboy (and as my fanart has proven, I do indeed depict the Southern Vamp as an older man 😁 He was turned at 29 and is currently 45, he an old man with crow’s feet he got from taking care of those danged progeny of his!)

Now, in regard to being the Adam fan? 👀 I can think of a few names that are most definitely intense competition for that, but as someone who falls asleep to Adam’s first kidnapping audio, I feel like I gotta fight for my spot at the table 🤣 I have lauded my love for the Danger Bois™️ several times on this account, and that toxic little fuck sits happily at the top of the list lol it breaks my heart that he’s gone already, I feel like he could have been a wonderful foil against Vincent and potential for some very fun drama (bonus audio for Adam when, Erik? 👀) my toes still curl when I hear his smarmy voice purr out “Dream of me, bloodbag” 😅

3. How's shit with their LI going? Did they have one? Is it going well even after the post-epilogue party? What's the vibe here? Did they maybe even find a new partner?

It’s a toss up some days (I see Minthara and Namulith butting heads on plenty of issues), but mostly good and stable.  Minthara reluctantly begins to adapt to surface city life in Baldur’s Gate, and busies herself with building connections with mercenary groups to raise a small army in as short of a time as possible, as she and Namulith plan to storm Menzoberranzan and lay siege to her mother’s holdings and establish themselves there as a new house. (As far as laying waste to the rest of the Baenre family…it’s an eventual goal but I couldn’t say if that’ll wind up successful lol)  For now, she lives with Namulith in his family’s apothecary, not sure how much of a help she is running the business hahaha.  Ok I’m kinda going off script here but I personally headcanon the epilogue party happens on Highharvestide of the same year simply because of fall vibes and my refusal to believe all of the companions waited 6 whole months before they had another crossover episode. (my personal timeline is pretty off from canon)  I’d say the vibe between them is for the most part calm, with the occasional patch of stress, and moments of wonder and excitement (there was some fanart I saw a while back of Minthara seeing snow for the first time and I was like “yep, I’m incorporating that into my belief system”).

16. Also what's the greatest joy now that they're "free" (depends on interpretation ig)?

Namulith definitely celebrates his return to monotony, and being able to sleep in his own place (no more outdoor sleepovers!), and overall being familiar with his surroundings.  I headcanon that once he remembers his past life, he really takes comfort in his knowledge of the city (where certain people live, where he can buy specific things, etc).

Being free from the Urge, he enjoys fewer graphic intrusive thoughts, more self-trust, and being able to really savor and enjoy experiences without the fear of losing control and killing/hurting other people.

28. Wild card / Dealers choice.

OH BOYYY!!! Ok so all of these disorganized ideas/lore bits are actually going somewhere eventually, and I’ll take this time to briefly yap about my fanfic in the works: “Riches and Wonders”. Title is indeed stolen from that The Mountain Goats song bc it’s totally relevant here.  Because the thought of actually writing a cohesive, serious plot scares me, I’ve decided to instead make it more of an episodic collection of vignettes which span from the summer until spring of the following year.  (Realized recently I am just describing a soap opera so I’ll call it what it is- yeah I’m up in google docs plotting out a soap opera LMAO)  R&W takes place post-BG3, and is set in a haunted house against a backdrop of angst, regret, and kinship, and will include major events such as: Namulith going on trial for his family’s murder (on the fence about this one), a really weird and awkward holiday family dinner, a trip to Waterdeep to visit Gale, and Namulith and Minthara becoming parents! I will not comment on any release date/whether this will actually be released- this is getting written for pleasure one way or another!

does pacat rlly not care about fence anymore 😭 i feel like it’s much better than dark rise and could be better than captive prince too…it’s been a year since i last consumed anything fence-related and i really don’t understand what’s going on with the series?? but anyways i like ur fics a lot & agree with ur reviews of srb’s novels, which also could have had so much potential but ended up kind of sucking in a lot of ways.

Pacat is a mystery to me. Personally, I believe Dark Rise is his best work--it shows much better pacing than Captive Prince and gets the same impact and feel without going to such extreme and explicit horrors, which shows a lot of skill (I know CP is his most beloved series but he's improved a lot since writing it haha). What gets me is that Fence STARTED really strong and I counted it as his best work for sure. There were fun tropes and dynamics, interesting characters with a central relationship promising contention, fighting, and tension, and some fun elements in the mystery of Jesse and potential in the reveal of Nick's lineage. And you could tell there was passion in the project...but even by the later issues of the original 12-issue run, Pacat's social media reflected a large disinterest in Fence, and that disinterest has shown in the story as Fence continues to progress.

I try to logic and rationalize and analyze everything Fence related and literally every time I do I get met with 'it's not that deep' from the actual canon lmfao but I'm going to offer my rationalization anyway lmao the only reason I can think to justify Pacat's lack of interaction with Fence on Twitter besides not caring about it much is that it doesn't fit his brand. Which is only defined by two other series, but it's very much a high fantasy/historical fantasy dark romance with stomach-churning undertones and much darker themes than Fence. So I gave him that excuse for a long time. Fence doesn't fit within that brand at all, so from a marketing standpoint, it makes some amount of sense to focus more on the other franchises. However, I think this strategic thinking is giving too much credit--Fence has always had really shit marketing so either Pacat has no mind for marketing or he doesn't care to market Fence, which both get us back to the only real reason being he just doesn't care about it as much as his other things.

Do I expect Pacat to be hanging out in the Twitter FENCEtag? No. But I do think it's strange that he'll post tweets saying happy birthday to other people's books the day they come out, but literally didn't ever make a Fence Redemption announcement or say anything on the release day. The most he's done is retweet a couple things from BOOM! and 2 other outside sources. And this is regular behavior--he didn't do announcements for RIVALS or RISE either and didn't promote them at all. Yet Dark Rise gets announcements all the way along--title announcement, release date announcement, cover reveal, etc etc etc. He also posts and retweets fanart for his other 2 books really regularly, yet he didn't even retweet all of Jo's (the co-creator and illustrator of Fence) pieces for the Fence event Jo hosted in April, let alone bother with much fanart of it. There's just no reason for the vast gap in involvement and enthusiasm other than him very strongly preferring his other projects and not bothering with the effort of interacting with Fence. He'll occasionally ask culture questions (like if Americans say 'coz' for cousin or how to say something in French) but that's legitimately the best argument there is for his interest or care in the project.

And lastly, his lack of interest shows in the story. He handed his story off to someone else to write novels for and simply let her go wild without regard for how it impacted the comics or the fans. Further, Pacat lost track of his own story and characters between Volume 3 & 4 in a way that I cannot excuse as anything other than inconsistent characterization. And I know I'm biased there, but I make so many people in real life read Fence that I don't jabber at about it/pull into the fandom (so they have no knowledge of my takes), and all of them have commented on the 180 the characters made between the volumes. And, listen, if I wouldn't accept that kind of inconsistency in characterization when grading my 12-year-olds' narrative writing projects, why am I still sitting here trying to excuse the lazy/poor writing in a published and successful author? The pacing is also telling--a lot of conflict was skipped over 'off screen' between the volumes (which, say it with me folks, is lazy writing). Nick's resentment toward Seiji turned into full admiration sans any ill feelings or acknowledgment that even if he IS hot shit, he was still a major asshole in his initial conception, and Seiji apparently agreed to drop his thing about Jesse (you know, the thing that had them in a fist fight approximately 40 pages of comic before). There was no build-up to their relationship or resolution of the conflict that made it unhealthy (expect to have Nick 'admit' Seiji was right to treat him like shit...) These things push the story along a lot faster; rivals to lovers moves really fast if you skip all the tedious development of the characters getting to know, respect, tolerate, and then like each other. Pacat loves rivals/enemies to lovers and (to be blunt) mean/cold bottoms, so it is so fucking bizarre to me that he'd speedrun the relationship and change the characterization so much when it's directly moving away from his preferences (see: Captive Prince, Dark Rise). I don’t know how it happened from anything other than sheer laziness or from not caring about Fence so deeply that he let SRB overwrite the characters and romance he'd originally created.

Last, there are just SO many inconsistencies and copyedit-level mistakes. And I get it that typos happen, but it happens so much that it's like,,, are you even rereading the scripts before you throw them at your publisher? And the continuity errors are massive at this point. Seiji's year in France, which was apparently the result of his loss to Jesse, is only possible if time travel exists and also timelines exist simultaneously. How do you fuck up so big when constructing a story you care about? At least by the time it gets published, you should be sure it's READY to be published. It's like he's writing issue-by-issue as he goes with no plan and can't be bothered to skim through the previous issues to check for things.

I just can't come up with a reality where Pacat actually loves Fence when this is all the care he gives it. We are so so so lucky to have Jo--she is literally the most amazing and gives so much love and care to Fence, and it shows...I just wish Pacat's writing didn't affect her contribution to the comic too. But she at least loves Fence even if Pacat doesn't seem to tell her all that much more than he tells the rest of us LMFAO

This turned into a WHOLE messy essay, I just have a lot of thoughts and they've been brewing for years so sorry to go off on my mad ravings and thanks for tuning in XD and also!!! I'm so happy you like my fics TT.TT <33 and also that you see my point about the novels uwu

emwayne (emma x wayne): while I understand where the zemma shippers are coming from, I'm gonna have to say that I can see them as a pairing, but mostly I see zee and emma as friends than lovers. moving onto wayne and emma, I've seen a couple of rlly cute fanart abt them that roped me into rooting for them; also, I saw this tumblr post that talked abt wayne helping emma see that her and chase aren't right for each other bc of the break between bowie and emma's friendship; I thought it'd be cute that emma realizes what an actual relationship is supposed to be like based on the way wayne treats her and the two grow closer as he helps her come into herself more. overall, really cute pairing!!

chazee (chase x zee): okay, hear me out on this one. before the season came out, when all I knew abt everyone were those random pics of episodes, I remember wishing chase to be gay (or bi or smth that isn't straight or he realizes he's not straight while in the show) bc it'd break that stereotype which I thought would be cool--and I shipped him with zee like offhandedly, nothing extreme, just lowkey. like I thought their shipname was cute (chazee?? hello?? literally adorable?? and I've found out that ppl are calling them cheese now too and fdhdjf that just makes it cuter). then I started watching the season and got to know chase's whole personality, I was like 'ehhhh' and this pairing just...got shunted to the far corners of my mind. THEN I came across this freaking adorable fic of these two (it's this one!) that somehow converted me back to shipping these two??? then I started thinking up random scenarios involving the two and yeah imma say I adore these two. idk I feel like zee would be good for chase, like their way of viewing the world would be pretty helpful for someone like chase?? (plus the whole sexuality crisis can still exist on chase's end bc imo zee is the kinda person to already be aware of a lot of things abt him (their gender, their sexuality, etc) but not put much emphasis on it, y'feel?), and maybe chase's way of expressing himself would balance out zee's??? who knows?? idk I feel like this ship has a lot of potential and it's worth exploring-

mkulia (mk x julia): they'd be the queens of meet-uglies lmaoo but no rlly, they'd be rlly great together, I feel! they give off alenoah vibes too, which I think is pretty neat! idk much abt them rn bc I'm only a fourth in the season, but I will def let you know my thoughts once I do!

A break from social media and how I use it has really been good for me. I need to be careful not to be sucked back in again. I should aim to mostly just post updates, but I do want to talk about my characters/writing as well. I will continue promoting my book, and ofc my Patreon and KoFi which are both "MCalhen" ;) I've been thinking about taking most (not all) of my fics and original works out of the private collection on AO3. I have a dilemma with one fandom (it's a nightmare circus of drama and several authors were chased out or hurt well before me), but I hope to eventually have the nerve to overcome that and say, "Too bad, you have to put up with the existence of my writing alongside yours. Get over it." Another thing is that Rascal isn't coming out of the collection. I plan to delete it. It's getting edited, I'm adding a couple of scenes I think would benefit the storytelling, and I'm publishing it. :) I'm on the fence about whether or not to release the original Seasons with comments closed, bc while it might be fun to compare it to the new one... so many things have been improved. Maybe it's also important to realize that if someone is that fixated on saying an earlier draft is permanent, that's a them issue and has nothing to do with me. A lot of my current WIPs are divided between if I'm going to publish them or post them on AO3. I have a few that I'm uncertain about either way. I want to share some work for free, and I have some stuff that's dark enough, self-publishing isn't much of an option right now. Note that when I promote my patreon and kofi, it's for original writing and art. No fanfic or fanart. The only link it has to AO3 is that I draw sketches of things from original stories posted to AO3. I will never post commercial links to the site, as that is against TOS. Seasons will always be free. Which leads to another thought: I wonder if I could get away with crossposting it to any sites? (I considered fictionpress.) I'm feeling better and want to keep sharing my work. I want to keep monetizing some of it. I want to be an author. I also really want to share things for free. Seasons is one of those stories that resonates a lot with people, and I know how badly I've always needed a story like that told. It's why I write, is to tell stories I need. But that one is... uniquely special and personal. I always want it to be accessible without any paywall. But I still need to make a living. So some books will be sold. Some will not. Just slap me if I ever get to be one of those big names who thinks I can do whatever I want, like those people on AO3 who say that they won't update their fics unless you pay them on patreon. (That's something you report to AO3 as a violation btw) I don't know where a good place to ramble about my stories is - probably here, since people can send me asks about characters and stories - but I'd like to do that, bc I enjoy doing it. :'D Anyway, I have my goals mostly figured out. Maybe someday I can post more of my work without hiding it away (yes, what you see is a fraction of what I write). I literally had no interest in them together until that fucking fence scene. Like you, I wasn't hostile towards the ship, either -- I just didn't give a shit. I was basically the neutral alien guy from Futurama like "I have no strong feelings one way or the other."

But then RE2make happened.

Twenty years. Twenty fucking years of not giving a shit about this ship, and I'm made a fool by a fucking FENCE, bro?? A FENCE??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS SHIT

To be fair, I still mostly see them as besties. Claire is the person Leon calls whenever he's smart enough to realize he needs a woman's viewpoint on something. Like, once he finally takes his dumbass goggles off and can see the reality of his feelings for Ashley, he calls Claire and is like "I'm about to do a thing, I think. I need you to tell me if this is the worst idea in the world or not."

So, for me, it's mostly like...

I think both Claire and Leon realize that if they had met under literally any other circumstance, they would've probably fucking hated each other -- because they absolutely would have. But the fact remains that they did meet in Raccoon City, and that's something that they'll always share between them. Regardless of anything else, they were there for each other in the immediate aftermath of that shit, when the dust was starting to settle and the real world was starting to look really fucking scary and intimidating all of a sudden.

Maybe they hooked up one or two more times at some nebulous point pre-RE4make after Leon spent some time with his Army buddies, just so that he could be like HEY CLAIRE LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT I CAN DO NOW because he's Leon and he's Like That.

But I think that, by the time of RE4make proper, that whole thing is done with. They've both fully gotten it out of their system and have no desire to go back to it again.

Because, like. I don't know if Remake canon is going to keep this particular detail, but until the Remake story actually changes this, Leon is close enough to Chris by the time of RE4 that he literally shows him US government documents with the highest classification possible (aka his report on the Los Illuminados) -- which is so outrageously fucking illegal and could actually get him fucking killed -- and for him to be that close to Chris tells me he's not banging Claire anymore and hasn't in quite some time.

And I don't think he wants to anymore, either. I really don't. because he'd rather just wallow in his own misery instead but AAYYYYY that's for a different post, probably. And I really think that Claire has absolutely no fucking interest anymore at all, too. Like, even if Leon had a moment of weakness and called her up and was like "hey, uh..." she'd turn him down.

Because the whole... depressed and cynical and constantly angry thing that Leon has going on now? Not attractive. Not to her. She has enough of her own bullshit to deal with; she doesn't need to start carrying Leon's baggage, too.

If we need to use force to answer the question, I can be persistent and roleplay along. I know how to play the "bad cop", and I know most characters would prefer to answer a question over obtaining mild seasonal allergies or something along those lines. Unless you're Doctor Jekyll or something...

What is a Hakupo?

Hakupo Tsukishiro is a energetic and powerful masculine voicebank for Utau (and amadeusy but we dont talk abt brunnnoooo). He was released all the way back in 2010 and has had many important milestones in his 13 years of distribution. Four compilation albums, 7 voicebanks, 2,500+ fanarts (that i all have), and uses by really awesome people *points to the crowd*. That's all of you guys out there. <3

Hakupo as a character is inspired by moe, thanks Clarice. Like most moe characters, he's a bit air headed and happy go lucky person. His positive attitude is sometimes brought into original songs he's featured in, which just makes me smile- girlbosses love a good pick me up song.

What does Bobo mean to me?

I found Hakupo 7 years ago now, sitting in the middle of an Utau melody. I told myself I would just turn off my tablet and listen to the music. Yeah that worked- guess who was next after the screen turned off. BOBO! I needed to see the little creature creating this melody. I turned on the screen, and was not disappointed. Fancy twink in a oversized tailcoat with weird pants. I remember rambling to my mom later about how cool he was, why he was so unique, and why this one specifically caught my attention.

He's been my special interest since then, everyone around me knows Hakupo wheather they like it or not. He's about 80% of everything I draw, 50% of what I talk about, and 100% of my little creature I snuggle up with every night.

I have a Hakupo bodypillow. Can't sleep without him.

Anyways, he's helped me find a lot of my best friends *coughcoughmeatcoughrevcough*, never fails to make me happy, and helped everyone around me realize I'm extremely autistic. The least I can do is write an ungodly long propaganda post while drinking my coffee at 9 am.

Hello! In progress of me finding an art style I like, I made fanart of a scene in "Between You, Me and the Fence Post" fanfic (from Chapter 12) written by @taelonsamada !

It's the scene when Milo sits out in one of the pastures as he tries to get Chuck (a Clydesdale horse that he got from an auction) to trust him. And idk. I just really like that scene and my brain gave me a very vivid image to draw it :) (I know that it says that they put a softer halter on Chuck, but, I wanted to show off the scars a bit better on his face)

2022

Saw @dominimoonbeam do this and thought it was a fantastic idea, not only to remind myself how much I’ve accomplished this year, but also set goals for myself for 2023!!

2022 was an INSANE year for me lol I had discovered redacted late November/early December 2021, but REALLY sank into the fandom around March 2022, and the people I met in that fandom were all amazing and wonderful and insanely supportive. Thanks to that support, I finally delved back into the world of fanfiction for the first time in almost twenty years, and the response has been…. Well, I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve cried several times when seeing how people have responded to my silly little stories lol On top of the fanfiction, the fanart and the response people have given it have not only had me drawing more and thereby increasing my drawing skills, but my commissions have skyrocketed, which has allowed me to tame some bills that were hanging over my head (AND YES I AM AWARE THAT I STILL HAVE SEVERAL COMMISSIONS WAITING, I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN THEM, I PROMISE 😭) And as if the craziness weren’t enough there, I even got to travel to Boston and meet one of the amazing friends I’ve made in person, and while there I achieved a decade long dream of getting to see the Final Fantasy concert Distant Worlds!! 🥰

Progress was made here at the camp, too!! We finally got new batteries, which means we’re able to operate more solely on solar, which allows us to consume less gas and thereby save money AND be less dependant on outdated resources! Frustratingly, the mine got a 3 year extension, but that just means three more years of telling the government where they can stick it, so more chances to stir up some drama lol

And of course, this year I’ve also finally achieved the dream I’ve had since I was 9 and published my first book!!!! What. WHAT. And on top of that, you all have been wonderful about that book, and very supportive 😭 I am a legit different person in an entirely different place than I was in December 2021, and I just cannot believe it. And I have every intention of making sure 2023 is just as wonderful lol

It was in 2016, I went to the market with my mom to get some fabric and make dresses for my brother's wedding and my sisters and I had some problems with my mom since 2015 and we like giving her some names yk. Anyway she was soooooo annoying this day so I texted my sister and we fought in the car and once we got home she took my phone and saw that I called her Godzilla lmao today I can't remember what happened to me that day 😂😂

This one was three years ago. Thinking back on it was so fucking funny. These texts are between my friend and I. She also wanted to take my phone this day. We were outside on the garden and as usual we were fighting and she was practically strangling me lmao she was completely crazy so I threw my phone in the neighbor's garden 😂😂 I told her "You want it ? Go fetch it !" Like you'd say to a dog. She was so mad but she couldn't do anything about my phone cuz my neighbor wasn't there so she couldn't just go to him and ask him to give it to her so she just beat me up and left lol. I climbed the fence to get it back lmao.

Fun fact : she broke 3 of my phones and this would made my dad so mad cuz he had to buy me new ones and she hid one of them in 2016 and we found it last year 🗿

So I went in the comments and ppl were saying "yeah same". But nobody said what they were about. So I sent a message to one of them and asked them to send the pics to me and I was so not ready for that. They were fanarts of some of the haikyuu boys peeing themselves. It was absolutely horrible lmao. As the good friend I am, I had to share this so I sent them to my friend. She called me all names that exist and blocked me lol.

how to draw manual wheelchairs (a psa for artists)

as a Certified Disabled Person, i LOVE seeing fanart of canonically disabled characters using manual chairs, but 9 times out of 10, they’re shown using clunky, ugly hospital chairs.  my problem w these fanarts isn’t the general inaccuracy of and anatomical problems with a full time wheelchair user using a hospital chair.  it’s that they’re just. plain. ugly.  a good manual wheelchair, on the other hand, is so sleek and gorgeous that you’d turn your head to watch her roll down the street.  so allow me to walk you through the differences in appearance between a cheap hospital chair & a lovely, luscious custom chair:

(small disclaimer: i know not everyone can afford a custom chair & many disabled people use hospital chairs bc it’s the best they can do & that’s totally fine!!!!  this post was specifically inspired by art of iida tensei who 1. is a full time chair user.  2. has a spinal cord injury.  and 3. is rich as hell.  if your character fits all 3 of those criteria, it’s just highly unlikely they’d use a hospital chair.  but every disabled person is different, so absolutely no hate to hospital chair users!!!!  okay moving on)

- massive front casters (those little wheels in front)  negative 100 points to zippiness.  we want our chair to have the breathtaking agility of a gazelle on the savannah.  this ain’t it.

- what is up w that extremely high backrest?????  how is a person supposed to propel themselves w their movement restricted by that utter BEHEMOTH of a backrest.  that’s a repetitive strain injury just WAITING to happen.  negative 400 points to functionality

- the angle of the footrest is all wrong & they’re massive and extremely clunky.  negative 200 points to sex appeal

- center of gravity on the back wheels is all wrong.  it would be exhausting & extremely inefficient to self propel w wheels positioned like this.  these wheels would make daily use so problematic that twitter stans would cancel them.  negative 250 points to speed.

ARMRESTS.  this is my biggest pet peeve.  THE FUCK ARE THOSE ARMRESTS DOING THERE????????  do we all see how much harder it would be to self propel w armrests that are like one step away from a barbed wire fence in terms of limiting your movement????? negative 2 billion points in every single category.

verdict: the vibes? rancid.  the ergonomic design? nonexistent.  the chance of injuring yourself if you self propelled in this all day every day?  guaranteed.  unless you have an exceedingly good reason, PLEASE stop drawing your full time chair users in this non-functional mess.

hell YEAH this is what i’m talking about!!!!!!!!!  this is a chair i’d walk up to in a bar & offer to buy a drink!!!!!!

- front casters?  tiny!!!!  this baby is gonna turn on a dime.  plus 200 points to zig zag capabilities.

- not only is the backrest low, it’s ALSO ergonomically designed to support constant use!!!!!  we stan a good backrest.  plus 300 points to comfort.

- foot rest is positioned much better & is also small & not completely fugly.  you truly LOVE to see it.  also the frame is a really pretty green!!!!!  plus 150 points to functionality and plus 100 points to style

- wheels positioned by an angelic choir.  a push is gonna go a much longer way on these wheels.  plus 350 points to zoominess

- THERE ARENT ANY ARMRESTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  total freedom of movement.  you wanna dance?? you wanna race?? you wanna pop a wheelie??  you can do all of that AND MORE without any fucking armrests.  plus nine billion points overall.

the verdict?  this would be on the cover of people magazine’s “sexiest wheelchairs alive” issue.  she’s sleek, she’s graceful, she is actually useable on a daily basis without utterly destroying your back and shoulders.  why would anyone draw a clunky hospital chair when they could instead capture the stunning form of this beauty???

in conclusion, pls draw your full time chair using characters in a custom chair bc they’re really pretty & i like looking at them.  this is clearly about me specifically & not at all about raising broader awareness around wheelchair use.  i just wanna look at more cute chairs & i frankly think i deserve that.  thank you for your time.

Thank you, friend 💜 I obviously agree wholeheartedly about people learning to just ignore the parts of fandom they’re not interested in, but developing that skill (because it is something you have to practice) seems to have stalled in recent years due to a “I saw it, therefore you forced me to look at this and that’s bad” attitude. I admit freely that I post in the “RWBY” tag simply because both meta and non-meta posts on my blog (fanart, fic, GIFs, etc.) are, shockingly enough, about RWBY and I want to be able to search for all of that simultaneously. I tried posting in both “rwde” and “RWBY critical” for a while, but neither tag is particularly active, I post a couple times a day, and people (reasonably) grew frustrated with seeing my stuff 24/7. In contrast, the “RWBY” tag gets a new post every two to three minutes, so the idea that someone saw one post by me in this ever changing mass of content and was just overwhelmed with RWBY criticism that they just had to do something about it is... obviously ridiculous. In the time it took me to write that sentence, “RWBY” accumulated five additional posts, so even if the fandom were filled to the brim with meta writers who are currently unhappy with the state of the show (it’s not) their content wouldn’t even begin to make up a significant portion of what the tag generates in an hour. As you say, it’s not about “ruining the fandom,” it’s about feeling threatened. These fans are not yet able to handle someone who disagrees with them, can’t yet conceptualize liking a show while also being critical of it, don’t know how or aren’t willing to differentiate between “Meta writers generates content for her blog and a small following of like-minded individuals” vs. “Angry fan does horrific stuff like sending hate mail to the creators,” but because everyone in fandom understands the basic fact that hate mail is wrong, they have to dress up their desire to pick a fight as something else. Basically, a lie: “You’re hurting the whole community,” “This isn’t healthy,” “All I ever see anymore are RWBY critical posts,” “You’re hurting the writers,” “Children shouldn’t see this,” and my favorite, “The critics are the ones harassing the fans” given that, you know, they’re the one currently doing the harassing. The mere fact that that anon took the time to read at least some of my post, send in an ask, and then check in on my blog enough to send in two more asks shows that they are far more interested in picking that fight than they are enjoying the RWBY content they claim they’re protecting. 

So if anyone reading this is on the fence about whether or not to emulate that anon’s behavior: don’t. Practice shrugging and moving on with your life. Someone posts the stupidest take you’ve ever seen? Scroll past. This creator makes content you don’t like? Block them. The tag currently has posts that aren’t your cup of tea? Literally wait a minute, refresh, and you’re good to go.
