How did Ridley Scott and the entire team that worked on writing, editing and producing gladiator 2 sit there and go “ah, yeah, boys! This is the one” whatever drugs they were on, I want to be on them too so that I can live in de lu lu land too

the thing about nate ford is he’s unpleasant, unlikeable, and uninteresting. but his importance to the other core four, his relationships with them and the way he helps them grow, is SO GOOD.

There's a ton of analysis going on right now about what Fred's letter meant and whether Tubbo (and the audience) interpreted it correctly. No matter what, it was clearly more ambiguous than originally thought, but I want to caution people against assuming only one interpretation is possible. Fred's admin is not a native English speaker. That's a really important consideration when analysing where this miscommunication started, who caused for the misinterpretation, and what the letter was trying to say. Especially if you're a native English speaker consider that your interpretation might not be what the admin intended and that blaming them for the confusion can come off as unfriendly to non-native speakers! I think the main line causing the confusion is when Fred wrote: "For now, I don't think the...you know... mmm the letter exchange will be paused." A native English speaker's interpretation of this sentence would be to disregard the sentence fragment "I don't think think the..you know..mmm" (it reads as a unfinished thought) and conclude the only important part of that sentence are the lines: "For now, [...] the letter exchange will be paused." That said, I think the admin might have intended for only the middle part of the sentence to be ignored. In which case the sentence could be read as, "For now, I don't think [...] the letter exchange will be paused." This might explain why the admin was so confused Tubbo wasn't leaving letters (and seemingly "dropped" the lore). I don't know for sure that this is what they intended, but it makes sense to me with how confused/frustrated the admin seemed.

I’m surprised at the amount of billy asks you get. Does it mean that they’re popular? All i know for sure is that they certainly seem to interest a lot of people. And i agree that they really do have the bones for a fascinating character, but the developers couldn’t be bothered to build something from those bones because 1) sim shenanigans, you can’t have your self insert react strongly if you’re meant to project 100% onto them, but billy does have traits that keep getting mentioned by more than one person plus the few actions they do choose and a backstory, which doesn’t seem like cardboard to me imho, but also 2) earl gray, and what invader added is the most damning detail of them all. Or rather, not a detail, but the anchor that sank billy. I know we’re meant to keep flamey and edelgard separate in our minds because edelgard is marketed as a poor sad waifu you must feel compelled to rescue, but it doesn’t erase her actions or flamey. When we have evidence saying that silver snow is meant to be the primary marketed canon route and so much of the conflicts across two games come down to the actions of one person plus a poorly thought out loptous stand in, all it tells me is that the main character was doomed to fail because the developers could not decide how to write a school mystery + romance of the three kingdoms sympathetic to cao cao so they tried to “fix” that or make it “gray” by turning it into a dating sim to artificially raise the emotional stakes. At least to me it says they didn’t have confidence in billy as a main character at all because so much of it hinges on centering edelgard and the players picking faves out of the rest of the cast, and to make it more insulting the compensation is being able to kill billy in the spin off? I myself don’t really have any big faves in the games because i only play them casually and read your blog, but what i do know is that it makes me hate edelgard for essentially being the gravitational center of the games like a narrative black hole and the developers being too cowardly to really cement her as a villain, and it doesn’t make me like warriors either because it doubles down on trying to explain her position instead of telling a story and because shez fans are extremely annoying and rude online, no surprise that many are also edelgard fans.
I'd say it's a cumulation of everything!
I think the fandom (myself included!) might have been a bit harsh on Billy because of their avatar status, even if I still think Rhea's S-support "aloneb4u" is shit and Seteth not giving any fucks about her and centering his support and convos on "we must find her so she will reveal da truth 2 u" is bonkers and both of those instances can't be only attributed to Hresvelg Grey but to "only the player is important", like the theory i came up with the self-insert scissors.
But yeah, I feel like at one point, Supreme Leader hijacked the "main character" or "character at the center of the plot we want to tell" spot, all gravitas went to "can u kill the student who loves u and bear with the sad uwus for the rest of your run ??" instead of, you know, the greater plot Nopes teased us with a Larva vs Sothis that never happened?
I compared FE16's story to many things earlier on, but the general thing is "why are we talking and following the least interesting parts of Fodlan", Supreme Leader's war of unification is meh, bias or no bias, I would have loved to see a War of Heroes game, or even a game set during the Sothis vs Agartha era (or the two why not) - but here we just have Ashnard lite with an uwu glazing, without even tackling a traditional or underlaying issue from the FE series about coexistence between people and acceptance and whatnot.
(the reason why AM is still, imo, a letdown because it ignores the dragon in the room)
What was Billy supposed to be? Supreme Leader's luf interest? A character that can conceptually fall (if they pick Tru Piss) thus can ascend in other routes? A self insert? The character you're supposed to navigate the world with?
I think Billy being a silent protag was a disservice to them - despite all of its faults, Nopes at least gives more light to Billy and it's refreshing, even if the game will never add 1+1 because Hresvelg Grey.
TBH I think Fodlan has its own share of fans being annoying regardless of the character they support - and while Barney is pretty chatty, ultimately Barney is the deviant art OC with two swords because why not, a sekrit past that is never explained and somehow stronger than everyone who is actually as empty as an oyster shell. We don't know what Barney wants, to be a merc? Yeah, but why? Is it because Barney is searching for somewhere to belong - just like Billy in a way - ?
As for the cardboard mention, it's most likely again in relation to Hresvelg Grey and Fe Fodlan's writing - the games don't spend enough time to build a sense of friendship and camaraderie between the cast to make the "betrayal" hurt or even the "y must we kill people we knew :'( " meaningful, so we only have the "wah sensei why didn't you pick me :(" or the general "i'm sad to fight against you" but like, mate, who are you? Why are you lamenting having to fight against Billy - someone who is opposing/invading your country and everything you stand for - like Billy and 12 months in Rhea's rocky mansion meant so much to you, much more than the 17 years of life (with acquaintances, friends, family, etc) you had?
But it's also in relation to Hresvelg Grey and the silent protag - why no one can give a reason - save for Supreme Leader "lizards BaD + MAGA" - to join this route, heck, not even Billy can say why they joined this route...
In French we have a saying that goes "comparaison n'est pas raison" more or less meaning you can't always compare things bcs context and all, but after TS's protag Serenor - who also has Gary Stu moments! - Billy not saying a thing about Supreme Leader's nonsense, frowning at Dimitri and being silent during Claude's monologues is... annoying.
But when Billy isn't in Fodlan games, they can talk and there's still the forbidden rule of not adding numbers - never ! - but they shine more.

Blob for the ask game
1: sexuality headcanon - I used to think of Blob as the only straight guy in Mystique's Brotherhood, but Blob/Unus shippers have won me over. That dude is bi, for sure!
2: otp - Blob/Unus. I can't believe they are both alive on Krakoa and we haven't even seen them talking in the background! C'mon!
I've also seen Blob/Phantazia shipping, and while I really prefer Blob/Unus, I would be okay with that relationship, too.
3: brotp - I'm not sure who Blob's best buddies are, outside of Unus, who is more of an OTP for me. I'd like to imagine that he hangs out a lot with Toad, Pyro and Avalanche, just for the shared experience of being in the Brotherhood together. Pyro and Avalanche are obviously closer to each other, but Pyro was frequently paired off with Blob, and the two of them spent as much time being mean girls guys together as they did fighting with each other. Plus, it's canon that Blob relaxes the rules/sneaks drinks for Avalanche, even though he's officially been banned from the Green Lagoon for unknown reasons. Also, I'd like to think that Blob and Anole are buddies since they run the Green Lagoon together.
4: notp - I actually didn't like Blob/Psylocke. I don't mind the pairing in theory, but I didn't like how Williams handled it, and all the weird issues with Betsy in someone else's body. I didn't really like Blob getting a complete personality overhaul in that story, although in fairness it was an AU. Being a loud, angry jerk has always been part of Blob's personality, and you can make him more sympathetic and nuanced without writing him to be a completely different person. Bartender Blob on Krakoa seems to be a kinder, more thoughtful Blob who still feels like himself.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - as Krakoa's main bartender, Blob hears ALL the secrets, and knows ALL the gossip. Pyro is always eager to tell him some new rumor, and Blob always knows already. He keeps the most important personal secrets people tell him under his belt, but he will absolutely spread the juicier gossip.
6: favorite line from this character -
Funny line - when Blob starts a fight with Avalanche because Avalanche made him drop his sandwich. It doesn't even feel like a "fat" joke, more of a "The Brotherhood guys are always ready to throw down at any excuse" joke. Also, I'd be mad about a dropped sandwich, too.
Serious line - any scene when he is desperately trying to save the dying Unus. They really gave these two guys a tragic romance friendship, then forgot for decades that Blob could be a sympathetic character.
7: one way in which I relate to this character
I can certainly sympathize with how his appearance has led to him being treated badly, much like Toad. He's not a mutant that can really "pass," and even people who don't realize he is a mutant will still judge him for being fat. I think his abrasive personality is partially due to him having to deal with that constantly.
I can also relate to wanting to be a Krakoan bartender. Stay out of the drama, just serve drinks and be chill.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
Also like Toad, writers really like to make him as gross as possible sometimes (because fat = ugly, and ugly = evil, right?). Like that horrible Ultimate version of Blob who was a cannibal. But especially that one Daredevil issue where both Blob and Pyro are being extremely gross about a young mutant girl (who looks to be about 12), who they are there to capture. Blob keeps commenting on her looks and insisting that he wants to "have her," because Pyro usually "gets all the girls" (no evidence of that in ANY of the actual X-Men comics), and then tries to force a female bartender to kiss him. I consider that one of my "Nope, that didn't happen" comics stories. It's a shame, because the rest of the issue was funny, and would have worked outside of all the grossness towards women.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
Bartender Blob is a cinnamon roll with a 70's mustache and a colorful shirt.

finally i finished the 13 ghosts of scooby doo + the movie made decades later finishing it. didnt expect that id like an 80s cartoon more than a 2010s one lol, the modern ending was... it was good but idk, something about some of the recent scooby doo movies made to be sequels of sorts is like... ehhh.
its almost entirely the whole 'velma is a mega hardcore skeptic hellbent on disproving everything and she ends up likely being right but also horribly wrong and learning nothing in the end about it' like.. it was like that in the return to zombie island movie as well and that movie was just ruined entirely by it. idk its just annoying.
also i didnt like that in the end they made it yet another unmasking :l like i get it, its scooby doo, its The Classic Thing about the franchise, but man it literally was the ending of a series that was undeniably paranormal and so fun about it.
everything else was pretty good though lol. the 80s series was just as weird and fun as i thought itd be, plus i just never watch stuff older than maybe the 90s so it was a nice walk out of my zone :p also i definitely see why people like vincent van ghoul so much, he was such a delight! so was flim flam and the older iterations of shaggy and scooby!
yeah i mean, i was honestly pleasantly surprised by the show, i went in with very low expectations cause ive watched other 80s scooby doo stuff and was bored out of my mind, but it was genuinely so fun! not to mention the differences and similarities between 80s cartoons and 2010s/2020s cartoons that im used to!
7/10 overall experience, would consider watching again some day
