Miraculous rewriting: Chloenette AU (Prologue)

This is a Chloenette image and it exists in two versions (left: Normal version; right: lipstickprint/post-kiss version).

I think about an AU that diverges from the canon (Miraculous but Chloé is one of Marinette's love interests (alongside with Adrien and Luka and Zoé)).

The Story and its changes:

Prologue/Before the Season 1:

Marinette and Chloé are childhood friends.

Chloé is still a bully. She keeps her rude tone (Chloé being Chloé) towards the Miraclass but with a moderate level (drastically less bully than her canon counterpart during the pre-Queen Bee period (Season 1-2) and the Derision flashback).

Chloé commits some bad actions against random teens for fun (roasting language, pranks, school expellement threats) but she makes these at the low level, She is a "semi-bully".

Identically to canon, Sabine is still worried about Marinette and sees Chloé as a bad influence on her daughter. She calls Soqueline for care/protect Marinette.

Effectively, Soqueline knows Chloé is a problematic case at the Françoise Dupont school.

Soqueline wants to get Marinette away from Chloé for bring the former to the good path (even if Marinette is globally preserved from the Chloé's bullying if it was a little bit of).

Marinette has issues with her mother when Chloé is the subject of the conversation. Meanwhile, Sabine respects Marinette's choices.

Chloé is attracted by both Marinette and Adrien (Sorry, Sabrina ! 🤷‍♂️).

Following the next years (prior to the Season 1), Chloé develops a crush to Marinette and she gradually expresses that with her own manner. But Marinette misunderstands her. She just believes the "bully" is joking.

Marinette already knows Adrien but only from Chloé's words.

Adrien hears about Marinette but she never met before (because of the education his father imposes to him)

Chloé sees Sabrina as her associate (not yet equal friend but not sidekick).

Marinette is aware Chloé has a questionable behavior but she continues to hang out with her. She is hoping the blondie can be improved into a good girl.

At the classroom, Marinette seats with Chloé. But she switches places with Sabrina, her second friend (a more normal girl than Chloé in the beginning). That depends of Chloé's decisions.

In the beginning, Marinette's and Sabrina's relationship is a normal/classical friendship (not besties but equal).

In this universe, Marinette has no reasons to run away from Chloé because they are already "friends". So, she doesn't need any protection and she hasn't any interest to Kim. She just considers him as an ordinary trustful friend.

In this AU, the events of Marinette's flashback from Derision (5.14) never happened too (no trauma).

But Marinette will eventually suffer a love incident: It will happen at the Grand Hôtel when she finally accepts Chloé's feelings. The date will be supposed to be an experimentation for Marinette. It would be perfect for the two girls until someone comes to mess it all.

The person who will ruin the Chloenette will be not Sabrina, neither Kim (who dates with Ondine), neither Audrey (Chloé's mom who is still at New York in this moment) or neither Adrien (who is mourning his mother's "death"). It will be Socqueline.

Socqueline will have decided to secretly follow Marinette in mission of protecting her after she will have seen her to enter to the Grand Hotel (Chloé's home). Worried, she will come to thé Chloé's bedroom and she will surprise the two girls kissing each other on the bed (interupting them).

That will be enough for Marinette. Ashamed by the situation, Marinette will become mad, upset and angry towards Socqueline because of her overprotective behavior. It would have enough. And a infuriated Chloé will yell both Marinette and Socqueline to go out of here.

Marinette will eventually end up her friendship with Socqueline next to the incident. The latter will be sad and remorseful after the incident.

The last day of school, Chloé will announce to Marinette she breaks up considering the idea of romance between them as a ridiculous "mistake". By circumstance, the incident has affected the two girls. 💔

Marinette becomes the protagonist we know as in Canon.

Chloé remains the classical bully from the show. Despite she is still attracted on Marinette, she represses her feelings by turning her interest to Adrien.

Lila Cerise discretly watches the scene from afar with a sadistical gratification. She is planning to ruin the Chloenette couple for enact revenge for her exposure as "Lila Rossi". What girl do Cerise could destroy her life first (Marinette or Chloé) ? Or what girl do Cerise could seduce first ? (attempted Cerisette plan) 😈

Bagrah could be a great, fascinating character if Leigh Bardugo didn't try so hard to victimize her and portray her as some sort of hero... Seriously wtf ? The narration in relation to Bagrah always made me cringe. In another version of events, I would have liked a less ignorant Alina to tell her the truth about being a bad teacher, a bad mother (now I want a fanfiction where Alina defends Aleksander of Bagrah) and just a bad person.

Bestie, you just decided to touch one of the most problematic things in that universe. The matter of "We consider toxic, problematic women innocent and heroic".

Just like Baghra, just like Ana Kuya. A world where if you're a woman and you're toxic, then you're okay!

My own feelings of Baghra is that I just can't help but find her interesting. I can't help but wanna re-read her scenes sometimes. I don't like her but she's intriguing. There are times when I remember how fucked up her life was. Her father neglected her and her mother despised her. And then they abandoned her. Which makes me feel sorry for her. But then I remember how she had numerous kids from loveless matches and abandoned them all except one. Because this boy was special like her: immortal and powerful. She willingly condemned another human being to the pain and loneliness of immortality (and it's very possible that she condemned her other children to immortality as well, just like Ulla). She raised Aleksander with no displays of love, didn't allow him to form bonds with others and used emotional, verbal (and, very possibly, physical) abuse on him. Taught him how to be prideful, to abandon love, to value power. But when Aleksander became prideful and valued power, she turned her back on him. When he found a potential match on Alina, she took her away from him. Because Baghra always wanted him to depend on her for company and love. All these make me feel disgust for her.

But still Baghra was a product of the fucked up life Grisha had that made her value self-preservation, just like Aleksander was. The only difference is that Aleksander cared about the fate of their people.

And when Aleksander entrusted her with the training of his Grisha, she used violent means to teach them how to develop and control their powers. Even used their own phobias against them ffs.

And despite all this, we have the good guys not only remembering her fondly but also defend her:

So Zoya in a few words:

Instead of wanting to feel love for the good characters and side with them, I want to slap them across the face. The amount of stupidity and arrogance they have is truly admirable. Congratulations for being douchebags, my friends!!👌👌

Instead of admitting that Baghra was problematic and made many serious mistakes (which I would much prefer to see from them) they're glorifying her. They're painting her as a frail, weak and innocent woman that did nothing wrong in her life. And being abusive is not against her! Of course not. Because she's a woman so we have to let her go of any charges and forgive her. ❤️

She was neither frail nor weak. She could easily use her powers if she could but Baghra loooved to play the victim. And she was definitely not innocent. She was one of the reasons Aleksander came out this way and contributed to his eventual downfall in R&R. Since her suicide made him lose his mind and become even more unhinged.

And, finally, yes I would have liked someone to tell her how shit of a mother she was to her son and how she sucks in general. But I don't think it would mind her much. She would be apathetic and sarcastic.

What AUs do YOU have?

DND: The timeline was pinched and simplified a bit for tabletop roleplay purposes. In this AU, there's also a few changes to how Gods function and adds a few things just for the purpose of the story :D

Taifuns Ascension: This AU is a scenario where Taifun did not leave Ishida, and rose to the rank of Main Superior. She is already quite the aristocrat in Anemoi, and fucks around with politics... but as what would be a queen of Ishida, she becomes a bit like her mother. She holds her power in an iron grip but unlike her mother she never lets anyone around her get hurt and shes not an abuser. Kurtys, her husband in canon, is instead her sire (which is similar to husband but shared between her wives that she would have in Ishida.)

Modern: The modern AU is the most well thought through and explored. It focused mostly on Tai and Kurtys (we love them so much). In that AU, instead of being a princess shes the daughter of a rich CEO and Kurtys' story is one is a rags to riches trope instead of being born a bastard between a prince and a farmers daughter. In this AU, Taifun is actually kinda problematic lmao. Shes not exactly the best to Kurtys, is quite mean and even kicks him to the streets at some point before they make up and their relationship gets better.

Cowboys: Complete opposite of Modern really, where Kurtys is actually kind of a bad ass sheriff and Taifun is the adoptive daughter of the town mayor. He saves her from her biological father kidnapping her. Its a fun little trope filled AU and I love that shit.

Monsters: Basically modern AU if everyone was a monster of some sort. Example: Taifun is a siren and Kurtys is a werewolf. I think the Aerakis were harpies?

Kurtys is a killer: Its what it says on the tin lmao. Modern adjacent but with a twist

Engine Room: Don't worry about it :) JK- funny AU where Midas and Dahlia knows Engine. Very NSFW lmao

Midas is SILLY: This is canon adjacent that doesn't effect any of the major mortal characters. This is just is Midas was a silly little snake that the Fates brought around and took him on little dates to get oat milk lattes. Hes also besties with Ericus and occasionally gets out of the terrarium that the fates keep him in. Its just some hehe sillies :3

hello old old old anon ask I'm so sorry for replying so late but yeah hi 😭

I have tons of time on my hands for the next.... 30 minutes so let's get into it. I'll list a time line of my thought process to how I came to the 'ex-swiftie' conclusion:

1. She released a song called "renegade" which is good, but I found some lines problematic and unexpected, because I used to hold swift to a pedestal (guilty as charged).

The lines were 'is it insensitive of me to say get your shit together so I can love you' and 'is it really your anxiety stopping {something love something idk} or do you just not want to?' SOOOOO yeah these thew me off a little.

2. Her album Midnights came out which I ADORED, became my fav so quick. But then her multiple variations of vinyls etc threw me off again. This is when the Bad Feeling About Her started setting in.

3. Then she released the song 'You're losing me' which just BLARED red flags to me even though the song is actually good. It's the first time I think, where she hinted that she broke up with her bf (Joe Alwyn) because of his mental illness.

4. The ongoing carbon emissions controversy lol, and her buying carbon credits... like it just felt like a "hah I'm rich so I can do whatever wrongs i want and buy it out" moment. I really hated that, since I live in a pretty polluted city so it hit close to home.

5. She threatened to sue the teenager who published PUBLIC data about her flights. Bad.

6. The entire free palestine movement gained momentum and she stayed silent. She has her image as the American Princess and Activist Who Can Do No Wrong. Feminist Queen. Speaker For Those Who Can't Speak. Yada Yada.

I simply hated her billionaire self as she chose to stay silent (and still is). To call off the criticism she and her bestie Selena went to a live comedy show where the comedian donated his earnings for Gaza relief. LIKE. ??????? Basic billionaire below underground level of "donation"???? This had to be a joke. It was not.

I think this incident was the final straw for me where I realized I can't support her if she's such a human being. That's not what my morals stand for thank you very much.

7. I REALLY tried to separate the art from the artist but I couldn't. Not with my sane mind and strong ethics. AND THEN the entire Matty healy debacle. He's a misogynistic, racist, zionist, ugh of a person.

I don't think anyone can date someone with such drastic opposing values. So the Taylor-Matty era further tarnished her image in front of me.

8. Fast forward and she releases her new album The Tortured Poets Department. That's it this was my final straw. You can just Google and go on a reddit thread about how problematic this album is. I'll probably write a long ass essay on it. Anyway this is where I decided I'm done, back in April.

Since then I've just been trying to cope with losing my fav artist because of the person she turned out to me. And people say we shouldn't hold celebs to such high standards but bro. Taylor PROMOTES parasocial relationships. SHE held her image to that standard until recently. There's an entire documentary on Netflix about that - Miss Americana.

So yeah she let me down from the pedestal she put herself on. It's been 2+ months and I'm still coping, because I genuinely lost a very important part of my life - her music. It has got me through tough times and I have many good memories associated with those songs.

controversial mayhaps but i liked it well enough! in the sense that i was entertained, and i did get some satisfaction from my viewing experience.

positives:

i really loved the updated intro/credits!

finan's narration was a cool change

the acting! it was all hitting for me :) i think harry especially did a great job, imo he had the most character work to do and i really felt his conflict (maybe this is gay bias but idc). the new actress for eadgifu did a really good job as well, her character was consistent and i enjoyed her interactions with uhtred

the action sequences were very well done and i loved the battle

sets, costumes, hair/makeup...all looked great!!

the ending! loved the callback, and although i wish we'd seen more charcaters in valhalla ik most of the actors weren't available so it's cool. really enjoyed the ambiguity. althoooooough unlike most ppl i don't think uhtred went to valhalla at the end (would love to chat/debate on this one)

pacing :/ it was impossible to tell how the story was meant to be moving through a concrete sense of time. a quick look at the wikipedia for king aethelstan shows that there were years between his coronation and the battle of brunanburh, yet the movie makes it seem like from beginning to end the story takes less than a year? and it's also unclear how much time has supposedly past since the end of s5. it started off pretty slow, but regardless i was admittedly engrossed by the halfway mark

sloppy evil gay drama :/// like in some ways. listen. i am not complaining lol. but i think it would have worked much better with more breathing room. ingilmundr was just so clearly intro'd as a villain, and i would have preferred seeing some more subtlety and cunning over a period of time, plus some actual internal conflict for him. by his last line ("i grew fond of you, but my love for my people prevailed") it seems as though he did have some genuine affection for aethelstan, and even though he completed his mission in the end i wish there'd been more depth there.

also, fwiw and as other people have said, unhinged to go 5 seasons with no queer characters only to haphazardly throw a couple in the follow up film...and have them be villains!!! gay people CAN be villainous lmao but idk how intentional they were being about any of this

overall just felt rushed. there were a lot of parts that would have benefited from some breathing room and dramatic build up. plus we didn't get to connect with a lot of the characters, and the writers were relying on viewers to care based on the tv series -- mostly fine for our mains like uhtred & co, but a real disservice to the newer characters. even finan and sihtric didn't do much besides follow uhtred around, which is par for the course but i wish they'd had individual arcs. ingrith's death didn't hit that hard bc she barely had lines. aelfweard's too, and he needed to be built up as more of a threat (even tho his death is mainly supposed to serve as a character moment for aethelstan).

aethelstan's redemption....i feel like he went from being a villain to back to besties with the squad in 2 seconds and i think it should have been fleshed out more. like i'm fine with them reuniting and i was rooting for it but i think we could have gotten more of aethelstan realizing his mistakes and showing remorse, and demonstrating that he has changed -- uhtred will probably always have his back, but besides Realizing Things he didn't really do anything to show that he has grown and prove that he's different and better than edward -- this was an issue throughout the movie, but it stands out the most with him since his actions drive most of the plot

anyway, i've never seen this level of discourse surrounding az's opinion of the illyrians. i have seen some discussion over the years yes but never ever to this extent. both bryce and azriel's way of thinking is problematic but when you take a look at their upbringing it makes sense. they were both treated like shit by their fathers and others within their fathers' circles. there is a level of self hatred there, i think both of them hate that more than anything. it's not about the people, not really, it's issues they have within themselves

bryce has started taking baby steps to get over this and i'm hoping we'll see more development regarding that in cc4 and as for az... well it's like 95% confirmed without being actually confirmed that he'll deal with the illyria plot so he'll have to start working through his own shit

as for aelin, it's been a hot minute since i've read tog but i think her issues weren't really tied to one race of people. it was more so that she just didn't want to lead her kingdom, she was scared more than anything and she just wanted a safe place to escape to and call home, but this also falls under the somewhat selfish thinking of bryce and azriel. like do i understand why aelin wants to disappear forever? of course. she, like the others, is deeply traumatized. sjm had her work through her problems surrounding it, step up, do what's right and take back what's hers and i really admire aelin for that

now that last comment about feyre... WHERE'S THE LIE LMFAO. i love my girl feyre and understand her, good dick can solve (almost) anything. i also just think it was easier for feyre since she had to live with them for months and tamlin and lucien were pretty tame compared to... well... *gestures to under the mountain* and by that point, she'd already realized that "hey! the fae are people too, they're kinda fucked up sometimes but there are some good eggs just like any other group" you know??

Least favorite - This is SO hard to answer because like. Was Etheldredda terrifying and awful to me? Yes! But that's exactly what makes her a great character. (I mean "evil queen with a fucked up rodent" isn't super unusual but the way she works is so??? Specific??? I love that) And I always found Merrin annoying as a kid but now that's my trash gremlin son! Meanwhile Catchpole is my Problematic Fave and, and, and....

Witch/wizard/something else - yeah sorry that's boring but Wizard all the way. That tower? The library? Apprentice system? Funky charms? Here for that. Also, I do like some basic comforts, and none of the witches seem to get those.

I have always been fond of the ShapeShifters, but as much as I sometimes fantasize about becoming one with the wind, I don't think I want to get stuck as a bird for the rest of my life.

(Fun fact about me though, I spent significant time as a kid imagining I was a youth soldier. Mostly as a way to get things done? But I also got kind of attached to it, which is... weird.)

TULLIA MY GIRL she’s never far from the miraverse fr…honestly i’ve had that storyline marinating in the back of my mind for ages but i just don’t think it’s possible to write for some reason?? partially because the mc is very stagnant and doesn’t go through a lot of growth…i think that that plot would work by having them be side characters in the manga but not as much in one of the heavily character-focused stories i prefer writing 😩 that said i thought i’ve always thought of it it as a fun way to take the cliche “girls in bllk” trope and do smth just a little different with it!!

Anyways been wanting to write for awhile now so why not slide into something light?! Kinda. So I can continue to be inspired to write this lovely season. Although most of the AA + AA HC works will flop a little since the tags aren’t that updated, people hate the writing—which I get! or it’s usually the same shit you see there. Anyways!!!

Thea’s argument for everything lately was simply, she was figuring things out. And sure there was nothing wrong with that statement per se…until it started to become an excuse.

Once the classes before summer approached were officially over, Thea couldn’t wait to actually get away from bringston university. Thea had until July before she left for Seychelles to spend the summer with her grandmother and thought about throwing a pool party at her house. Both of her parents were away on “business” with her mother landing in Dubai and her father in Chicago—which really meant being away from each other (since they were attempting to avoid a divorce) it was the perfect idea.

At least you tried to persuade. You were really Thea’s only best friend, the only one she allowed to get close enough to; you were the one to always bring her out of her shell when she needed it. You saw pass the whole queen bee trope Thea was still sticking with and sure you were always down for some one on one time with your bestie but the semester took a turn to say the least.

The party was in full swing with the heat baking down on the various of melanin that decorated Thea’s backyard. Everyone was invited, even people that Thea didn’t invite but somehow ended up here attended. Thea wasn’t one to have people up in her space and muttered that she should have thrown a beach party instead but once she had a few Jell-O shots she seemed to simmer down.

That’s until Damon Sims approached the both of you, who lounged against the pool trimmings. He was dressed casually with a white tank assorted with a single gold chain, pink and black printed swim trunks, slides, started to let some facial hair grow in and cut his thick hair down to have his waves on swim, also his skin looked really moisturized in this blazing Georgia heat.

“Damnit, he looks good.” Thea scoffed beside you, before she brought her own red cup back up to her lips.

You snorted before putting on a smile up at the six foot man who approached the two of you.

“Ladies, it’s good to see you.” He started.

Thea flicked her hair back with one hand staring off in another direction with her sunglasses covering her eyes, “is it though?”

You nudged her.

Damon kept his cool, “I didn’t think JR would get the invite first but it’s coo, I know you’ve been busy since...Classes ended.” He chose his words carefully.

“Glad you could make it, Mr. High yellow!” You raised your plastic cup at the man who laughed at your joke with a slight roll of his eyes, tapping his cup against yours.

It seemed at if thea wouldn’t be doing much talking. And it didn’t take long for Damon to pick up on that as he shot you a look in which you shrugged your shoulders and mouthed a, “sorry,” to him.

He cleared his throat, “thea…do you think you and I can go have a conversation?”

“No.” She snapped, “go carry a new conversation somewhere else maybe with Simone, actually. I know how much you love talking to her and I didn’t even invite her ass.”

Grimacing you took a sip of your fruity cocktail.

Damon began to squat down in the space between the two of you, keeping his tone steady, “don’t be like this baby—

“Oh no,” Thea laughed, “don’t think you can just waltz over here throwing around pet names like it’s supposed to mean something to me. You chose her side time and time again even after I screwed up my arm…it’s insulting and I don’t deserve to be anyone’s number two. I worked too damn hard for everything and I deserve to have fun, not someone wasting my time.”

Damon inhaled as he noticed some eyes watching the dynamic. He gently placed his hand on Thea’s shoulder, which she flinched away from. He eased up, raising his hands in surrender, “Sure I could do better but…I’ve never chosen Simone over you.”

“Bullshit!” Thea hissed, “it’s always been that way, I maybe clueless to a lot of things but this mess of a relationship? Absolutely not! I should have listened to y/n from the very beginning.” Thea huffed, glancing up at the bright sky.

You felt Damon’s eyes burn into you now. Of course Thea threw you under the bus without thinking. Sure you and Damon got along since you shared a few classes together; before he got involved with Thea but that did not mean you didn’t have an opinion on this whole ordeal.

Damon sighed, “I agreed on this mini separation…thinking it would help us both get our minds right when it came to tennis and baseball but I really think we should further talk it out.”

Thea shoved her shades back so Damon could see the fire beneath her dark eyes. She smirked up at him sitting in silence for a moment and you knew that did not mean anything good.

The next thing you know, Thea’s reaching for the side of your neck and turning your jaw by her fingertips and you couldn’t catch her eyes as she was only staring at your lips. She took a small inhale before she planted a kiss right on yours. And you were guilty because you kissed back in that very short impulsive moment.

When she abruptly pulled back, still holding onto your skull she smiled back menacingly at Damon who’s brows were definitely furrowed right now.

“There’s your answer, damon.” Thea licked his lips, “there’s not much else to talk about, you see? I’m not just going to sit around and wait for you to decide to pick me for once. So leave me the hell alone and don’t come crawling back once you see me consistently leveling up.” She fanned her hand at the boy, handing him her cup before she lifted off the cemented seat to filly submerge herself into the water.

And both you and Damon watched her for a moment, until damon scoffed and rubbed at his nose in disbelief before leaving in silence. You on the other hand had very conflicting feelings as you watched Thea be all smiles while she chatted with someone else in the water.

You knew what your sexuality was (so did Thea) and then you thought you knew all that this is to know about Thea Mays…better than anyone yet she pulled a stunt like this? To prove what exactly? You didn’t like being used and that was part of the conflicting feelings you were experiencing right now.

So you finished you drink and also found yourself getting into the pool, but at the opposite end.
