The only everything shower routine you’ll ever need ౨ৎ
Pre shower
Hair -
Scalp oiling: use a store bought scalp oil or make your own. Cover hair with cling film to stop dust and dirt while it stays in your hair for 2-4 hours.
Rosemary water: boil rosemary in water for 20 minutes and allow to cool before straining into a spray bottle.
Scalp massage: massage scalp for at least 20 minutes once scalp oil is applied, increases blood circulation which helps hair growth.
Face -w
Flaxseed mask: mix 1/2 flaxseeds with 3 cups water, bring to a boil until thick while continuously stirring then put into a container to cool. Apply to face once cool and leave until dried, around an hour.
Shape eyebrows: pluck eyebrows, if wanted use dye to define them further.
Hands and feet-
Foot spa: if you don’t have a foot spa fill a bowl with hot water, add bath salts and essential oil for scent and extra benefits
Remove any nail polish
Shape and file nails
Scrub feet: use pumice stone or another tool, then afterwards a body/foot scrub.
Body -
Dry brush: start from the bottom of your body and work you way up. Promotes blood circulation and exfoliates giving you smooth skin.
During shower
Hair -
Double shampoo: double shampoo when scalp oiling to properly cleanse scalp of oil.
Hair mask: while the hair mask sits in your hair for 10+ minutes it’s a good time to gua sha your face.
Conditioner
Face -
Gua sha: open lymph nodes, go through a gua shaing routine, then drain lymph nodes. There are lots of tutorials online to follow. I gua sha in the shower with a face wash and water. Never gua sha on dry skin it damages your skin barrier and causes premature aging, if you skin starts to feel like it’s pulling add more moisture.
Face wash
Body -
Exfoliate: use a glove, net or other exfoliating tool to exfoliate body.
Body scrub
Body wash
Shave (if wanted): use a sharp razor, blunt razors can cause razor bumps. Shave with a cream or wash, never on skin alone.
After shower
Face -
Face mask
Skincare: if you have products that you only use every so often this is a good time to use them as an extra treat.
Eye mask
Lip scrub: make your own with sugar, honey and coconut oil or use a store bought one.
Lip balm/moisturiser
Eyelash and eyebrow oil/serum: castor oil works great for me.
Body -
Body oil: apply a scented body oil straight out of shower while skin is still damp.
Moisturize: moisturise entire body.
Hair -
Leave in conditioner: depending on hair type the amount will vary, if you have straighter hair add very little and only to the ends to prevent greasiness.
Hair oil: once hair is completely dry warm a tiny amount of hair oil in your palms (hair oil is not the same as scalp oil!) rub into the very ends of your hair to help with split ends, shine and dryness
Hands and feet -
Paint nails
Cuticle oil: apply either bought cuticle oil or another skin oil such as almond oil or coconut oil to cuticles of hands and feet after nail polish is dry.
Moisturize: moisture both hands and feet, add vaseline to feet on top and put on socks to help absorption
Extras
Layer scents: mix and match the scents body washes, scrubs, hair products and moisturisers to create your personal scent. For example fruity, warm and spicy, vanilla, etc.
Pick products for your concerns: curate your products to your skin and hair concerns. Use a more moisturising lotion is your skin is dry, use a repairing shampoo if your hair is damaged, etc.
The best time to do an everything shower is on reset days, although it’s a great way to end and start the week these don’t have to be on Sundays. Of course everything showers can be done whenever you feel like relaxing and giving yourself some love.

28.Do!Not!Touch!Your!nose!or!mouth
This period may be difficult, but most of us can spend it at home with all the neccesities we need which is a blessing. My condolences to anyone whom lost a loved one due to this virus.

How to Alleviate Hair Loss
Losing hair? Yeah, me too. If your body is starving, you're most likely gonna lose hair. Sorry. But there are some things you can do to try and prevent it.
⚠️ DISCLAIMER ⚠️
I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I am not medically qualified in any way whatsoever, I'm just some random anorexic girl on the Internet. Please do your research (and ideally, consult a doctor) before starting any new supplement or medication, as it may have unintended side effects or drug interactions. Also, please get your thyroid checked, as the reason for your hair loss may be a thyroid problem caused by your ED!!
Supplements
❤️ Protein
Hair is made of keratin, a protein. That's why you need plenty of protein in your diet in order for your body to produce keratin and maintain your hair (and your skin and nails). If you need protein supplements, there are plenty of different ones out there, from pills to powder to drinks.
🧡 Iron
Along with a host of other problems, iron deficiency can cause hair loss, and it's super common in people with EDs. You should probably be taking an iron supplement, especially if you have a uterus. You can take iron pills or a women's multivitamin (check the label, but "women's" usually means it's high in iron). I take the Up&Up women's daily multivitamin because it was like $5 for 300 pills, but if I weren't broke, I would've bought the Centrum women's complete multivitamin. Just remember that your body can't get rid of excess iron, so very high amounts can be dangerous.
💛 Vitamin B
When it comes to hair, everyone raves about biotin (vitamin B7). But if you take too much, you'll deplete your pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which can affect your skin, and because it's a water-soluble vitamin, any excess biotin will just be excreted. So rather than taking those 10,000mcg biotin pills, take a B-complex vitamin or a multivitamin that covers vitamin B.
Riboflavin (B2) deficiency can cause hair loss.
Niacin (B3) improves circulation to the scalp and boosts the production of keratin.
Pyridoxine (B6) helps manage hormonal hair loss and metabolizes protein that can be used to build keratin.
Biotin (B7) deficiency causes hair loss.
Pantothenic acid (B5) regulates the skin. It's absorbed by the same intestinal receptors as biotin, so too much biotin will prevent B5 from being absorbed and cause acne or a rash!
Folate (B9) is needed for cellular growth, including that of hair cells.
Vitamin B12 deficiency causes pernicious anemia, which can lead to hair loss.
💚 Vitamin C
To absorb iron, your body needs vitamin C, so a vitamin C deficiency can lead to an iron deficiency. Plus, vitamin C is an antioxidant. Antioxidants decrease oxidative stress, which is caused by an excess of unstable molecules called "free radicals" and can lead to hair loss. Vitamin C is also needed to produce another antioxidant, collagen (which we'll talk about later). If you've got a multivitamin, it probably contains vitamin C, but there are vitamin C pills too.
💙 Vitamin D
Vitamin D helps create new hair follicles, and a deficiency can cause hair loss. You can take supplements (it's often added to calcium supplements, which you should probably be taking anyway), but your skin produces vitamin D when exposed to the sun, so you should also go out and get some sunshine! Keep in mind that vitamin D is fat-soluble, so you need fat in your diet to absorb it--along with the fact that a low-fat diet can cause a hormonal imbalance, which might also affect your hair, you need dietary fat because of fat-soluble nutrients like vitamin D! But because it's fat-soluble, be aware that if you take too much of it via supplements, you can get ill.
💜 Vitamin E
Like vitamin C, vitamin E is an antioxidant. It may also improve circulation to the scalp. Used topically, vitamin E can moisturize the hair and scalp. It can be found in multivitamins, vitamin E pills, and, for topical use, in hair products like shampoo and hair masks. Vitamin E is fat-soluble, but an overdose is unlikely to make you sick. However, high doses can turn into a pro-oxidant and increase oxidative stress.
❤️ Vitamin A
Vitamin A is an antioxidant that prevents hair damage and helps produce sebum, an oily substance which moisturizes your hair. A vitamin A deficiency can lead to hair loss, but ironically, too much vitamin A can cause hair loss too. It's also a fat-soluble vitamin, so high amounts can make you sick and an overdose can be dangerous. But if you have trouble getting your recommended daily amount of vitamin A, try a multivitamin containing vitamin A or a vitamin A pill.
🧡 Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3s promote hair growth and shine. They decrease inflammation that can damage hair follicles and impede nutrition to the hair, and because they're fatty acids, they keep the scalp and hair from drying out. Fish oil pills are the easiest way to supplement omega-3s, but there are vegan supplements too. Just don't forget that omega-3s are fat-soluble and can be harmful in high doses.
💛 Zinc
Zinc is an antioxidant that is needed for cellular growth and repair, which includes the cells of hair and hair follicles. It also helps with protein synthesis, micronutrient absorption, and sebum production. Zinc deficiency can lead to hair loss, but like vitamin A, too much can also cause hair loss, as well as making you ill, so be careful. You can find zinc in zinc pills, multivitamins, and many calcium+magnesium supplements.
💚 Selenium
Selenium is an antioxidant that is incorporated into proteins called "selenoproteins," which help build keratin. Your body also uses it to maintain the thyroid, preventing hormonal hair loss, and when applied topically, it kills fungus that leads to dandruff. This is another one that causes hair loss and sickness with both deficiency and overdose. So unless you're using it topically in dandruff treatment, use selenium wisely. In addition to selenium pills, look for it in multivitamins and some zinc supplements.
💙 Silica
As a key component in connective tissue, silica strengthens hair fibers. It also strengthens blood vessels, thus increasing blood circulation to the scalp. It's anti-inflammatory and is necessary for collagen production. It helps to balance hormones, too, which prevents hormonal hair loss. Silica pills and powder come from several sources—typically seaweed or the horsetail plant—but you can also find it in mineral water.
💜 Collagen
Several of the amino acids used to build keratin are found in collagen, and it may fight free radicals as well. Try looking into collagen pills or powder.

Hair Care
✨ Avoid any kind of heat or harsh chemicals.
✨ Gently comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb instead of brushing it.
✨ To reduce knots and tangles, sleep with your hair in a loose standard braid. I like to put a fabric scrunchie on the very end, but I don't tie off the top of the braid.
✨ Never comb your hair when it's wet. Gently finger-comb it if you really have to.
✨ Avoid tight hairstyles (remember JoJo Siwa's hairline?).
✨ Use scrunchies, scarves, ribbons, and ribbon ties instead of hair ties.
✨ Only wash your hair 1-3 times a week. If needed, use dry shampoo, baby powder, or cornstarch in between washes.
✨ Shower in cool or cold water.
✨ Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.
✨ Opt for natural hair products when possible.
✨ Do a nourishing/moisturizing/replenishing hair mask or a deep condition once a week.
✨ Gently massage your head for a few minutes every day to stimulate blood circulation to your scalp. For extra blood flow, do it while hanging your head upside down.
✨ Trim your hair regularly.
✨ Avoid unnecessarily touching your hair.
✨ Add a few drops of castor oil, lavender oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, and/or argan oil to a couple tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil, plus 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper. Now you have growth-stimulating hair oil to massage into your scalp.
Products
(NOTE: I have not tried these products myself!! Most of them are recommendations from MyProAna users.)
🌹 PURA D'OR
This brand has shampoos, conditioners, serums, etc. for hair thinning. The products get great reviews on Amazon, and some are even best sellers or Amazon's Choice products (I assume Amazon's Choice means it's good).
🌺 NIOXIN
This brand is designed for thinning hair and includes various products, including hair regrowth treatments. These products also get great Amazon reviews, with a couple best sellers and Amazon's Choice products.
🌼 ApHogee
This brand uses protein in a variety of products made for damaged hair. Great Amazon reviews and an Amazon's Choice product.
🌻 Grow Gorgeous
This brand has shampoos, conditioners, serums, etc. for thinning and damaged hair. The Amazon reviews are decent and there's an Amazon's Choice product.
🏵️ OGX Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen shampoo and conditioner
I have no idea how effective the ingredients are when used topically, but for what it's worth, this shampoo and conditioner contains biotin, collagen, and wheat protein. The Amazon reviews look good and the 19.5 oz duo-set is an Amazon's Choice product. OGX has other hair products for nourishing, healing, etc., but it's not like they were recommended by a rando on MyProAna, so I have no idea if they're any good 🤷
🌷 Rogaine
This is the brand name for topical minoxidil, which is currently the only FDA-approved treatment for female hair loss. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT CAN TREAT HAIR LOSS FROM MALNOURISHMENT, but I actually plan to buy some generic minoxidil off eBay when I go back to school. There's a 2% formula and a 5% formula; the 5% formula has been found to work more effectively.
💐 Propecia
This is the brand name for finasteride, the only other FDA-approved treatment for hair loss, but it is not approved for women. However, a recent study found that for women, a daily dose of 2.5 mg (the normal dose is 1 mg) improved hair loss without many side effects. Idk though, I personally wouldn't take it unless the FDA approves it for women. Just in case, y'know? I'm not sure if you can get it over-the-counter, but it does appear that you can buy it online.
Good luck!

While I was sitting in Holguin’s styling chair, I was...
While I was sitting in Holguin’s styling chair, I was lamenting over the inevitable ring of broken blonde baby hairs circling my hairline. Even though this type of breakage is incredibly common in those who color their hair—especially if you lighten—it’s an annoying tell-tale sign of damage. Plus, due to fragility, they seem to perpetually break over and over, never reaching past a half or full inch in length. Therefore, you can imagine my interest when Holguin told me I should start applying Latisse (or really any topical hair growth formula) directly onto my hairline where I’ve lost some thickness over the years. “One thing I love and actually do myself to encourage hair growth is to apply Rogaine's Foam for Hair Loss and Hair Regrowth ($24) on my hairline every morning and every night,” he tells me. “It can definitely help with receding hairlines or boosting any areas where you’d experienced hair loss or breakage." I don’t use Latisse (and don’t feel like getting a prescription), so I’ve been reaching for the miracle serum below, which has majorly beefed-up my brows (Joey Healy, you’re an angel!) over the past couple months. I apply it every morning and night after I brush it on my brows. "I also LOVE SugarBearHair gummies,” swears Holguin. “They are so yummy and are easy to take—which is important since consistency is key with supplements! They basically taste like gummy bears but are loaded with hair-growth boosting biotin—more than some other gummies on the market.” Personally, I haven’t tried the iconic turquoise bears yet, but about a year and a half ago I made Hum’s Hair Sweet Hair gummies a daily routine, and my hair has since been growing like a weed. A coincidence? I think not! (They’re not gummies, but Nutrafol also has some amazing, high-quality options.) Collagen has also been a major buzzword in the beauty and wellness industries the past few years and is often attributed to healthier hair, skin, nails, digestion, joints… Need we go on? The jury is still out among the medical set whether or not collagen is actually effective, but I’ve been taking a daily dose of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides for a few years now and have considered it a pivotal player in my recent hair overhaul. If you like to snack, the below protein bars from Kalumi are packed with hydrolyzed marine collagen. Holguin agrees and tells me it’s actually one of his top three suggestions when discussing hair, skin, and nail health with his clients. According to Holguin, scalp scrubs are one of the best ways to get pokey strands to grow faster. Not only will the actual massage help stimulate circulation (a key for hair growth), but incorporating a product that’s formulated to nix build-up and other pore-clogging debris will help clear the way for long and lustrous strands. This cult-classic from Christophe Robin is a beauty editor standby. Another luxurious and feel-good way to encourage hair growth? Hot oil treatments. In addition to the aforementioned scrub, opting for hot oil at least once a week is one of Holguin’s top tips for those seeking longer length fast. In an age (and season!) where bed head and mermaid waves are encouraged, it’s relatively easy to adopt an IDGAF attitude when it comes to styling our hair. But neglecting your brush or comb for days on end isn’t doing your strands any favors, especially if you’ve been trying to get your hair to grow faster. According to Holguin, brushing your hair every day (but gently!) will help, just make sure you pick the right brush and don’t overdo it. (Overworking your strands could lead to hair injury and fallout.) Mason Pearson’s brush is the obvious choice—it’s the Tesla of all hair brushes—but if you’re looking for a shine-inducing dupe that won’t tear your hair, I’ve been equally obsessed with the below pick from WetBrush. It’s lightweight and features a strategic combo of natural boar bristles and plush IntelliFlex bristles for easy detangling. You’ve probably heard by now that washing your hair daily has become the ultimate faux pax within the beauty realm. Your hair is more prone to breakage and fallout whilst shampooing, so it didn’t come as any huge surprise when Holguin told me to avoid daily shampoos at all costs. Instead, we recommend using a high-quality sulfate-free shampoo to ensure you get your hair really nice and clean when you do suds up, and then make it work in between with a no-nonsense dry shampoo. This pick from IGK is one of the best I’ve tried and has helped me limit my washes to only once or twice per week. (Depending on what I have going on, of course!) Plus, it’s equally effective on all hair types. Holguin tells me that one of the worst pieces of advice he hears regarding hair growth is forgoing your haircuts altogether. In his expert book, you’ll actually be doing your length goals more harm than good by ghosting your stylist. “It’s very important to get your hair cut every three months or so, even if it’s just for a light dusting,” he iterates. Essentially, this keeps your ends in line and will help splits and tears from going rogue and destroying your hair’s length potential. Another idea? Try adding split end remedy like the above to your haircare routine. Next up, this secret ingredient is the fashion industry’s best-kept hair industry.

5 Easy Ways to Treat Dry Scalp Naturally
Scalp is a quite sensitive area and slight changes in the surroundings such as in the weather, our lifestyle or hair products can make it dry and itchy. Feeling an increase in dryness in the scalp and skin is a very common problem during the summer months as the heat aggravates dehydration. A dehydrated scalp can be a breeding ground for some unpleasant conditions such as dandruff, irritation, infection and an overall appearance of dry brittle hair. Continue reading to know how to tackle your parched scalp and bring it back to life naturally.
How to detect a dry scalp? It’s very easy to point out a dry and dehydrated scalp. If you are beginning to see small white flakes, you most likely have a dry scalp. Similar to dry skin, your scalp will become tight and itchy and you will find yourself scratching your scalp every now and then.
All-natural Warm oil treatment: Combine natural oils like sesame and coconut for massaging your scalp. For best results, use herbal oils like Cakra hair Potion which has coconut and sesame seed oil as the base with Ayurvedic herbs in it such as, Aloe vera, Fenugreek seeds and antibacterial Neem, well known for nourishing and conditioning dry scalp and dandruff (1). Warm the oil and massage it about 5 minutes into your roots to stimulate circulation and exfoliate your scalp. When you’re finished massaging, apply the remainder of the oil generously to the ends and length of the hair. Secure your hair with a braid or bun and wrap around a piece of cloth to hold the heat and allow the oil to penetrate to the roots. Leave on at least 30 minutes and up to overnight. Rinse off with mild shampoo (Harsh shampoo will strip off the moisture) and air-dry your hair. Avoid using the hairdryer if possible, especially when hair is wet as it’s hair’s most fragile state. For normal hair, repeat this treatment 1-2 times a week. You can do it as often as 2-3 times a week if you have dry hair. Oil massage needs some extra effort, but let me assure, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful and lustrous hair.
Natural hair masks:
Methi or fenugreek seeds are suggested as one of the top natural remedies for dry scalp/dandruff both by modern and ancient research (2). One can use these seeds by soaking them overnight and grinding them in the morning to make a paste or by soaking directly seed powder to make a paste. Another way to use the seeds is to heat (simmer) them with sesame seed oil. Strain and use this oil to massage onto your scalp for an itch and scale-free scalp!
Lime juice also makes a great homemade dandruff treatment due to its high antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties (1). Lemon has citric acid, vitamin C, flavonoids and trace amounts of zinc, which makes it a wonderful herb to heal the parched scalp.
Neem oil or leaves can be used as a hair oil to eliminate dandruff, on its own or along with fenugreek seeds and lemon juice. Due to its powerful antibacterial properties (3), neem paste or powder added to hair masks can be a potent dandruff killer (1).
Aloe vera: The use of freshly prepared gel or aloe vera oil is recommended by some studies to help relieve the symptoms of the dry scalp (1) because of its sensitivity to enzymatic, oxidative and microbial degradation.
Garlic:In ancient Indian medicine, garlic was a valuable remedy used as a tonic to cure a lack of appetite, common weakness, cough, skin disease, rheumatism, haemorrhoids etc. In the Vedas – the Indian holy book – garlic was mentioned among other medicinal plants as a potent anti-fungal plant (4.5). Add it to your diet or use the diluted juice in your hair masks.
Life-style-The most important thing to consider in kicking off the dandruff is to maintain good hair hygiene. Keep the hair and scalp super-clean so as to minimize the accumulation of dead cells. Massage regularly scalp and hair with herbal all-natural oil every time you shampoo to protect your hair from harsh shampoos.
The hair should be brushed daily to improve circulation, remove dirt, flakes and encourage hair growth. Sensible exposure of the head to the sun is considered beneficial as vitamin D has direct connection with hair.
Never use hot water when washing your hair, because it strips the natural oils from your scalp, leaving it very dry and sensitive. Dryness and itchiness can also result from trips to the hair salon. Harsh chemical treatments like permanent colour, keratin treatments, hair straightening can permanently damage both hair and scalp making them ultra-dry and dull in the long run. Cut back on chemically loaded hair gels, sprays and serums and rather opt for all-natural hair products for good scalp and hair health.
Diet-Add more vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds to the diet as one must intake enough zinc, B-complex vitamins and essential fatty acids to keep dandruff at bay. Include healthy fats like Ghee in your diet to give natural shine to your locks. Eat a diet that’s rich in probiotics as it helps good gut bacteria flourish which is one of the best ways to zap dandruff. Drink plenty of water and liquids. Hydrated scalp leads to hydrated and healthy-looking hair.
Yoga- It’s a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices which originated in ancient India. The beauty of yoga is that you don’t have to be a yogi or yogini to reap the benefits. Yoga helps to increase circulation in the body. By doing some of the yoga poses, the roots of the hair follicles pump energy to the scalp needed to nourish, remove toxins and boost hair growth. Here are some of the easy yoga poses that are hugely beneficial for the hair:
Paschimottasana (two-Legged Forward bend): This pose helps to fully stretch the posterior portion of the whole body from head to heels. Helps control hair fall and slow down ageing as well.
Balayam Yoga (Rubbing nails): In Ayurveda, hair and nails are by-product of bone tissue (Asthi dhatu), hence are connected. Rubbing nails energise the roots of the hair follicles connected to the fingernails by boosting the circulation. This can help dandruff and other hair ailments.
Chakrasana (lying down body twist): This pose is named Chakrasana as the body shape looks like a circle (chakra). This pose supplies more oxygen to the scalp and hydrates it.
Adho Mukha Swasana (Downward facing dog pose): This pose allows more blood circulation to the brain, thus enhancing the condition of the scalp.
Therefore, dry scalp, dandruff, hair fall and other hair ailments, while being complicated, are possible to tackle with uncomplicated means like herbal masks, warm oil treatments, yoga and simple habits like eating healthy and avoiding oily food, mental stress and chemical-laden products.

Pre-Holi
As toxic Holi colors tend to penetrate deep inside the skin’s epidermal (outermost) layer, it is important to create a natural barrier between your skin/hair and such potential allergens. Pre-Holi oiling is a tried-and-tested method of doing the same:
Hair Care
Chemical-laden colors can trigger dandruff, hair fall, frizziness, and split ends, which can be remedied with the help of organic hair oils. Cold pressed virgin Coconut Oil is a wonderful choice, as it prevents colors from damaging the hair cuticle & cortex and combats frizziness. Take 1-2 tablespoons of organic virgin Coconut Oil and massage on to your scalp & hair thoroughly, the night before Holi. You can also choose organic, cold-pressed anti-hair fall oils containing natural ingredients, such as Bhringraj, Neem, Brahmi, and Hibiscus to prevent acute hair damage.
Skin Care
Pre-Holi organic skincare is absolutely crucial if you wish to avoid rashes, allergies, breakouts, and damaged skin. Here’s how you can do so:
Face & Body: Natural oils, including organic Castor Oil, Almond Oil, and Olive Oil can be applied all over the face and body before heading out. Most of these organic body oils contain Vitamin E, which provides much-needed nourishment to the skin and acts as a protective barrier, preventing colors from sticking to your body. Opt for oils that are free of parabens, mineral oils, and synthetic fragrances.
Lips: Lips are susceptible to retaining colors that do not wash off easily. Apply a thick coat of organic Castor Oil before heading out; you could also apply an organic lip balm to protect your lips.
Nails: Colors tend to penetrate the cuticles, resulting in tough, yellowish stains. To prevent staining, one can dip their nails in a mixture of Coconut and Castor Oil, or apply the same with the help of a nail paint brush.
Post-Holi
Now that you are drenched in the exuberance of vibrant hues, you are faced with the task of scrubbing the stubborn colors off. This is where the importance of an organic post-Holi regime comes in:
Hair Care
Rinsing or washing hair with harsh, chemical-laden shampoos after playing Holi can worsen damage and hair breakage. Use a mild herbal shampoo to wash off the colors; follow up with a natural serum, such as Aloe Vera Gel to retain softness and lock moisture in.
Skin Care
Most individuals tend to scrub their skin with harsh soaps to rub off colors - this can lead to severe skin abrasions and allergies. The harsh ingredients of soaps result in dryness and itching. Instead, one should use a gentle organic body wash enriched with natural ingredients to rinse off chemicals and color stains. Opt for a pH balanced, biodegradable formula with the ability to cleanse skin thoroughly with the help of a rich, creamy lather. Use a soft loofah for the purpose of exfoliation and wash off with lukewarm water. As soon as you step out of the shower, make sure to hydrate your skin with an organic body lotion. This will not only keep your skin soft but also preserve nourishment and elasticity. While children can also adopt the same organic holi-care regime, make sure that they use organic products that are suitable for their sensitive skin. Ideally, babies should be kept away from harsh colors - however, the Indian tradition of applying a tika with gulaal (natural colors) on a baby’s forehead persists. In this case, make sure to cleanse the area gently with organic Coconut Oil with the help of a soft cotton ball. It's best to give your baby an organic oil massage before the rituals begin. This shall shield their skin against the changing weather as well.
Apart from following this organic regime, make sure to exercise caution while playing with colors. Choose herbal, light colors over chemically-laden hues like deep blue & black. It's best if you could invest some time in making DIY eco-friendly colors at home using sandalwood powder, rose powder and the like. Avoid playing in case of rashes/skin irritation, and avoid scrubbing the skin with a rough pumice stone. In case color makes its way into your eyes, consult a doctor immediately. Make sure to also follow an Ayurvedic diet during this season, as the constant fluctuations in weather can cause various illnesses.

Everything A Modern Gentleman Needs In His Grooming Kit
Did you come of age in the nineties? In ye olden days, there were no “influencers” – just your gang of mates, a monthly magazine and pop stars who’d only appear when they had something to promote (read: infrequently). Early adopters were the real influencers: that first person to introduce a new style to a social circle. Certainly, your hair cut had to be approved by your friends: going to school with a fresh cut verged on mildly traumatic as the unwanted attention was unleashed. But a skincare “regime”? Laughable. If anyone knew you had dabbled with your sister’s St. Ives face mask? You’d never had lived it down. Even dad’s side of the bathroom was low on inspiration: a Gilette razor, a tin of shaving foam, a sliver of soap and an ancient can of Old Spice talc? Mum was the one in charge of your ablutions – picking up a can of Lynx Africa in the weekly shop.
Collectively, we’ve come a long, long way since the men’s grooming market came to the fore. Fifteen years ago brands started to entice male consumers to add a one-fits-all moisturiser to their nuts-and-bolts personal “care” routine. Today, we’ve become increasingly sophisticated in our choices and personal care goes below the neckline: from manicures and pedicures, to body tanning and hair straightening – all the way down to manscaping. This is in addition to the regular man-maintenance of hair styling and beard care that’s keeping barber shops open on high streets otherwise shuttering at record rates. We’re catching up with women in the self-improvement stakes. Even the idea of makeup is catching on; so whether you’re more of traditionalist or a seasoned pro on a mission to try the latest foil mask enriched by hand harvested sea kelp, we’ve made a comprehensive guide to everything you need in your grooming arsenal.
Eyes
Let’s start with the key products you need to keep your peepers bright and the skin around them from creasing like an old paper bag. For the mornings, use a de-puffing roller eye gel to massage away bags and help you feel more awake. Choose a richer eye cream for night when the skin is in repair mode and will absorb more of the active ingredients.
Eyebrows are a very important – but often overlooked – facial feature: they define the face (especially in the absence of a strong hair line) and open up the eye area when properly groomed. A pair of tweezers is helpful to keep stray eyebrow hairs in check, along with a brow comb to groom and fix them in place.
Keep some moisturising eye drops on hand to counteract the redness and dehydration caused by fatigue, driving, flying or screen overload.
Face
The classic regime for the face applies to most skin types and all ages. Thankfully these days most brands cater to virtually every skin care concern – oily, sensitive, dry, mature. The basic routine? Cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day. If time is short in the mornings, prioritise doing a proper job before bed.
Specific facial cleansers are PH formulated to be kinder to skin (than a shower gel) and can have exfoliating or pigment busting ingredients. Toners and facial mists, applied after cleansing, can improve the absorption of whatever you’ll be applying next: cream, lotion or serum. Choose a light daily moisturiser with an SPF to protect your skin from UV exposure. Like with eye cream, your night skin cream or serum should be more nourishing or potent.
In addition, weekly treatments such as an exfoliating scrub or face mask should be used to increase cell turnover, offer extra hydration or an ultra deep clean. Lip balm, often essential in winter, keeps lips soft, smooth and chap free. BB Creams, tinted moisturisers and even concealer are there if you want to enhance the skin, cover blemishes and spots.
Shave
Whatever the current trends dictate our facial follicles should be doing, chins are hairy and you need to know how to deal with it. Clean shaven? Get yourself a decent razor. Steel safety razors offer good value for money (a one-time purchase if taken care of properly) and reduce your plastic footprint. Where convenience is still king, cartridge razors seem to come with all manner of unnecessary add-ons including extra blades, batteries and vibrating functions: dare to keep it simple. For sensitive skin, wet shaving can be more hassle than it’s worth, so a decent electric shaver will save aggravation.
No matter what you opt for, prepping the skin is a must. Shaving after, or during, a shower softens and lifts hair, making it easier to cut. Arm yourself with a hot flannel, warm the blade under the tap and apply a good quality shaving cream or gel to reduce irritation and improve razor glide. Finish with a soothing aftershave balm with skin-healing ingredients like aloe vera.
Beard/Moustache
For the hirsute of face, a specific beard wash and beard oil are essential. The former to cleanse the hair and purify the skin and the latter to nourish the skin and condition the hair (use a comb to brush it through to the dry ends). When it comes to keeping your chosen facial hair style in check, look for a quality beard trimmer with a number of attachments and guards for precise edging and cutting.
Body
The essential rule is to stay fresh. Deodorant, body soap/gel and a body scrub should be on your shopping list. Buffed skin is smoother, softer, prevents ingrown hairs from shaving or waxing and provides the best base for natural and fake tans. As for hair removal, a hand held body grooming device will help tame rampant undergrowth.
Hands and Feet
Feet and hands need attention; moisturise daily to keep them in good condition and keep your nails trimmed straight, smooth and clean.
Hair
A well maintained hair cut can add more worth to your look than a bespoke suit. Someone who is impeccably turned out makes a good impression. A quality shampoo will remove styling build up and keep the scalp in good condition. Conditioner isn’t really necessary for hair that sits above the ears unless it’s particularly unruly.
In terms of styling, a matte paste is one of the best all-round products for short, choppy styles. Longer length locks can be managed with a salt spray or leave-in conditioner. Your hair is only as good as your barber makes it, so if it’s not working, find a better scissorsmith.
Teeth
We are given one set of pearly whites for life and as the gatekeepers to your bodily health – plaque has been linked to heart disease – they are worth every penny of care. Make a hygienist appointment every six months and commit to regularly changing that scummy brush head. Whitening strips can help remove staining, but it’s always best to go the professional route.
A sonic toothbrush can be a game changer for both your routine and oral health. Meanwhile designer toothpastes from the likes of Marvis, Buly and Lebon helps switch up the flavours to keep brushing more of a pleasure than a chore.
Scent
While we espouse a certain amount of choice in the fragrance department, we also advocate a concise starter kit. In general, a fragrance “wardrobe” should consist of three to four scents: a go-to cologne for daily wear in summer and another staple for winter, and one, possibly two, evening scents that are deeper or heavier than the day options (think seduction).
By all means, if you’re confident you’ve found “the one” then there’s no real need to add to your collection. Others may find that different seasons and moods require different aromas: it’s a personal choice. Perfume houses, such as Floris London and Penhaligon’s, can make the selection process a lot simpler with one-on-one consultations to help you find your signature. On the hunt for a new whiff? Start with the all-time classic scents.

25 Best Essential Oils For Skin
OGX makes popular drugstore hair products that bring out the best natural ingredients to give you the best hair. The best way to apply argan oil for the most prominent anti-aging effects is to massage a few drops into your face and neck before bed. She started having skin outbreaks on her face a day after using argan oil moisturizer oily skin oil. If you really want to go all in on Argan Oil, you can replace your whole hair care system with it. InstaNatural is well-known for offering pure and certified organic skincare and hair care products. I recalled an article about the excellent benefits of using "Argan Oil" for hair and nails. It is a nourishing conditioner that is sure to enhance your hair's appearance with a healthy shine and maintain a balanced, clean scalp. The programme works with an umbrella body involving six women's co-operatives producing argan oil. Hydrate hair with beauty's must-have maintenance product derived from Morocco's argan tree. Argan oil is an excellent lip conditioner and heals dry lips in just a few days. Nails: Mix Argan Oil with lemon juice in equal parts and dip nails for 10 to 15 minutes. When argan oil is applied directly to finger nails and toes, it makes the nails less brittle. The short, bushy argan tree, abundant in Morocco, is the source of the nutritionally rich oil. Other research conducted on postmenopausal women in 2014, showed that after the participants applied a small amount of Argan oil every night for two months experienced measurable improvements in their skin's ability to retain water. Argan oil, a golden-hued oil obtained from argan nuts and known for its softening properties, has been used for centuries in food and beauty products. Basically as you are saying, the moroccan oil is a silicone based product and yes will suffocate the hair. Actually Organic tested hundreds of oils to find the right one. Beck, however, warns against buying beauty products simply because they list argan oil on the label. Argan oil comes from the nutritious fruits of native Moroccan argan trees. Many of you may be unfamiliar with using argan oil for skin and hair. This is the second time purchasing ArganLife Hair Care product and I have been pleasantly surprised by the results. Dry scalp treatment: Apply argan oil to fingertips. Call it the elixir of beauty, the increasingly popularity of Argan Oil has encouraged the Government of Morocco to step up its annual production from 2,500 tonnes to 4,000 tonnes by the year 2020. It makes for one of the most memorable rural scenes to be found anywhere, but historically the goats formed part of the production process of what the local Berber people consider to be arboricultural gold; argan oil. Helps in hair growth and works well for sensitive skin also. Foxbrim is one of the top argan oil brands for those who want a 100% pure organic argan oil. Chock full of fatty acids and vitamin E, our organic oil protects and nourishes your skin from head to toe. Pure Organic Argan oil, rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin E is infused with mineral-rich Organic Undaria Seaweed to lock in moisture. To minimize the damage caused by the chemicals in nail polish and nail polish remover apply argan oil on each nail after removing nail color and putting on a new one. One study was conducted treating dermatitis patients with placebo or oral vitamin E, which is in abundance in argan oil. The One 'N only Argan Oil is a premium finishing, smoothing and conditioning product for you to use. Put Majestic Pure argan oil in your palm move it and a little and then spread it on your face. Commonly used in food and cosmetics, argan oil is quickly gaining ground worldwide as a skin care staple. All our oils are fresh and bottled daily. So pick the pure Argan oil. Apply a few drops of the oil to your face like a serum, or blend them into your dollop of nighttime lotion. I love this organ oil as it has nothing else in it as so many commercial products do. I use it with my face cream and my skin stays moist all day without touch up in the very dry prairie climate. While many think of it as a strictly male-related condition, 40 percent of American women experience it. When you first notice that you're losing more and more hair in the shower, bathroom sink, and on your hair brush, don't ignore it, treat it with Argan oil. The argan tree is similar to the olive tree but can only be found on the southern coast of Morocco between the cities of Safi (to the north) and Goulimime (to the south). We spoke to Dr Yannis Alexandrides, founder of 111Skin and Head of Surgical Practice at 111 Harley St , to get his thoughts on using argan oil for your skin. Nearly a decade later, and you're hard-pressed to find a skin or hair SOS that argan oil hasn't been used to treat. It is placed in skin and hair treatments due to the large number of benefits it provides. Frizz tamer: After showering, rub a few drops of argan oil between your hands, and then work through hair, focusing on the ends. If you want to de-clutter your cabinet and simplify your beauty routine, argan oil can become your go-to beauty elixir from head-to-toe for any skin and hair types.

Organic Shampoos
Organic shampoos are a great choice for people who want to save money on their hair. It is easy to find great deals on shampoos these days. Sometimes you can even get discounted shampoo coupons to take advantage of as well.
Organic shampoos can be used for people who have sensitive or damaged hair. Most people don't realize that they are suffering from dandruff, which is caused by the scalp being dry. Organic shampoos offer a natural and gentle method of treating dandruff.
The best part about using shampoo with organic ingredients is that you don't have to buy a new bottle every couple of months. Many organic shampoos contain no chemicals at all. They also don't cost much to use, making them very cost effective.
Organic shampoos usually come in two types. One type contains ingredients that help maintain the health of your hair. These are often vitamins and herbs that help balance your body's pH levels.
Other shampoos can contain only natural herbs and vitamins, and they don't contain any chemical preservatives or additives. Natural ingredients will help your hair stay healthy and strong, and they won't irritate your scalp.
You can choose to use only the herbs that you like, or you can mix and match different combinations to create your own favorite shampoo. Using an all-natural shampoo is also a good idea if you live in an area where there are limited amounts of herbs and vitamins. You can usually find these products on the internet at a great price.
There are many types of herbal shampoos available. For example, some contain only essential oils, while others use a blend of herbs and essential oils. Some contain calendula and essential oils, while others include lemon balm and Rosemary.
Even if you aren't sure what ingredients you want in your herbal shampoos, it is easier than ever to find what you need. You can browse through the internet for product reviews and then buy the product that has the highest review rating. This will help you make an informed decision.
Organic shampoos are often healthier for your hair than conventional shampoos, as they are made with ingredients that help protect the hair from harsh chemicals that are used in other shampoos. You'll enjoy more vibrant color, healthier-looking hair, and a shiny feel that give your hair a nice shine.
If you have trouble finding organic shampoos, you can always shop at the local grocery store. They often carry organic shampoos that aren't sold online. Many grocery stores carry both brands and types of organic shampoos.
You should look for organic shampoos when you want to make the best use of what you have. They are simple and easy to use, and are highly beneficial to your hair. Look for products that contain only natural ingredients, and use them on a regular basis to get the best results.
How do you know if organic shampoos are safe? These are what is called "natural" shampoos and are said to be safer because of the fact that they contain fewer chemicals and preservatives than the chemically-treated shampoos that are on the market. When used to our advantage, these shampoos can do more good than harm in the long run. Here are a few tips to help you determine if organic shampoos are right for you.
There are a few things to look for in an organic shampoo. The first is a high quality all-natural ingredient. Many shampoos contain harsh chemical dyes, artificial fragrances, dyes, coloring agents, fragrances, dyes, and preservatives. These items irritate the skin and make it dry and susceptible to infections. Look for organic shampoos that use natural ingredients and a product which is free from any chemicals.
Organic shampoos have a little bit of a smell. But the smell is much more pleasant than the odor of conventional shampoos that contain chemicals that are not beneficial for the skin. Take a whiff and you will notice a difference. You will find that the smell is far less offensive than a chemical shampoo and far more pleasant.
To determine if organic shampoos are right for you, examine your hair type. If your hair is generally long and thin, then you may be allergic to chemical products that contain sulfates and surfactants. Some shampoos have sulfuric acid and other chemical ingredients that can be bad for your skin. Be sure to research the ingredients that are included in your shampoo.
If you have dry hair, you need an organic shampoo to help condition your hair. A good shampoo should contain aloe, shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E. These ingredients can be included in shampoos that are hypoallergenic, too. They will not cause any damage to your scalp or to your hair. It is important to provide your hair with the nourishment it needs.
The biggest advantage of organic shampoos is that they are organic. That means they are produced without using any of the harmful pesticides and chemical fertilizers that our planet has become dependent on. What this means for you is less wear and tear on your skin, less infection, and less redness. Organic shampoos are said to contain less sodium and chlorine which are both toxic. Organic shampoos are also said to contain more Omega 3 fatty acids which are very good for the skin. All of these substances help to moisturize the skin and keep it from drying out.
Natural ingredients are something that should be considered when choosing an organic shampoo. They are free from chemical irritants and their purpose is to nourish the hair as it should. Organic shampoo also has higher protein content than regular shampoos. The proteins will soften the hair and reduce the amount of split ends.

How to Take Care of Your Relaxed Hair
The relaxing process involves application of chemicals designed to break down the protein bonds, by removing the invisible protective layer of hair. Hair relaxers can leave hair weak, dehydrated, porous and prone to breakage. To ensure that your relaxed hair stays bouncy, smooth, and frizz and split end free, proper care after the treatment is very essential. Black hair requires even more special care and very gentle handling, because relaxing makes this type of hair very fragile and prone to damage from heat and chemicals.
Post Relaxer Care
It is important to thoroughly rinse with water to completely get the chemicals out of your hair. The relaxer is a rather strong chemical that, if left too long on the skin or scalp, will cause severe chemical burns. Any trace of a relaxer that is left on your hair will continue to process, causing your hair to break. That’s why all traces of relaxer residue must be rinsed away.
After getting a relaxer, your hair is in its weakest state. After rinsing away the product you should apply a pre-shampoo protein treatment to rebuild binds and fill in the cracks of the hair. A relaxer causes the hair cuticles to open, so they can better absorb the protein lost in the relaxing process. A protein-infused conditioner will also lower PH and add extra moisture to hair. Let the treatment sit for 30-45 minutes on your hair before rinsing.
After rinsing out the conditioner proceed with the neutralizing shampoo to remove all traces of relaxer still active in your hair. Active ingredients in the neutralizer can penetrate the hair shaft and stop the relaxer from working in the hair. Leaving the neutralizing shampoo on for a few minutes before rinsing helps restore chemically-treated hair to the natural pH balance.
How to Wash Relaxed Hair
Shampoo your hair twice a week and condition after every shampoo wash. Use a moisturizing, sulfate free shampoo and a very moisturizing conditioner formulated for chemically treated hair.
After applying the shampoo, gently massage the scalp with your fingertips and avoid using your nails. Hair is most vulnerable when wet, and black hair is more fragile and more prone to damage than other hair types. To minimize tangles, braid your hair or wash one section at a time. Let the conditioner work for five to ten minutes. Detangle with a wide-toothed comb, from ends to roots, with the conditioner still in your hair. When you have finished combing rinse with lukewarm water. Use cool water for your final rinse to close the cuticles and to prevent frizz. Wrap a soft towel around your head to remove water from the hair. Do not squeeze or wring out your hair, just let the towel soak up the excess water. Follow with a cotton t-shirt and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Always use a leave-in conditioner after washing relaxed hair. Make sure to detangle your hair thoroughly at this stage. Take a small amount of coconut oil between your fingers and coat the ends of your hair. Coconut oil penetrates into the cortex, provides protection and helps retain moisture.
Co-Washing Relaxed Hair
Shampooing too often can be very drying on chemically treated hair due to harsh detergents in traditional shampoo formulas. If you want to wash more often than twice a week, “co-washing“, or “conditioner-only washing” is a gentler alternative to shampooing. This no-shampoo method is done with a lightweight moisturizing conditioner, that cleanse and refresh your hair without stripping the scalp of its natural oils. Washing with a cleansing conditioner adds moisture to your hair instead of taking it away, and can even be done daily. If you have straight and fine hair, co-washing can cause it to look limp and lifeless.
Air Drying
Air drying is one of the healthiest option to maintain relaxed hair health. For straight hair without the help of heat, wrap your hair into a cross wrap and tie with a satin or silk hair scarf to lay tresses down. Another way to get straight hair without heat is to smooth all the hair back into a loose bun.
For a nice, wavy look, roller setting is the best way to keep hair smooth without using too much heat. You can also put your hair in a braid while it’s wet and leave it until it is dry. If you are going to blow dry, let your hair air dry at least partially before using the hair dryer. Put your dryer on the lowest heat setting or cold air to dry. Hold the dryer at least ten inches away from your hair and keep moving it constantly around your head.
Deep Conditioning
Deep condition your relaxed hair at least every fortnight. Relaxers strip the hair of all natural oils. Deep conditioning helps rehydrate chemically treated hair and makes it shiny and strong enough to withstand styling. Coat your hair in the conditioner, starting from the ends and avoid scalp as much as possible. For best results, use a plastic cap and go under a hooded dryer. Let the conditioner sit for up to 30-45 minutes using low heat setting. You can also deep condition if you sleep with the conditioner overnight wearing a plastic cap. Your body heat will warm the conditioner and increase absorption to the hair. Protein-based deep conditioner should be applied to strengthen the hair and to replenish protein lost through the relaxing process once a month. Using protein treatments too frequently will have the opposite effect and cause hair to become weak and brittle.
Hot-Oil Treatment
Do a hot-oil treatment on a weekly basis to add extra moisture and give body to your hair. Gently warm olive, coconut or jojoba oil and massage into your freshly washed hair. Wrap your head in a plastic shower cap and leave the oil on for half an hour before rinsing.
Bed Time Care of Relaxed Hair
Relaxed hair requires special care for bedtime. Conventional cotton pillowcases tend to rob the hair of moisture, and can cause friction and tangles. Sleeping on a satin pillow keeps your hair from getting tangled and prevents dryness. If you don’t have a silk or a satin pillow case, tie your hair in a bun or wrap it in a silk cap. Apply leave on serums to the ends to keep them moisturized while sleeping.
Avoid Heat
Avoid using heat when styling your hair, as heat can cause relaxed hair to become very dry and prone to breakage. You can style your hair occasionally, using a high quality, ceramic flat iron with adjustable heat controls, but be careful, because with repeated usage it can burn relaxed hair. When you use the curling iron, hold the barrel cover slightly open – so the hair simply passes over the barrel without being tagged or pulled by pressure from the barrel cover.
Do not Over Brush
Use a wide tooth comb or your fingers to gently detangle your hair. Never use a brush while your hair is wet, because this can cause breakage. Gently brush with a boar bristle brush and avoid pulling and tugging on your hair. Over-brushing relaxed hair can cause split ends and hair breakage.
Protective Styling
Wearing relaxed hair down daily is not advisable. Protective styling is one of the best ways to minimize hair breakage. Wearing the hair in a protective style helps hide the ends from harsh elements and from rubbing on your shoulders and clothes. Popular protective styles include buns, chignons, braids, twists and weaves. Create protective styles that will last at least for a few days with minimal touch ups and give your hair a rest from styling.
Dying Relaxed Hair
You should wait at least two weeks after a relaxer service before applying permanent hair color. If the hair is brittle and prone to breakage, permanent hair color is not recommended. Because chemical relaxers are so harsh on hair, consider picking a dye that doesn’t require bleach or ammonia. Restore color vibrancy and shine with a tinted conditioner, or use temporary and semi-permanent colors as well as ammonia-free hair colors. These colors can be used immediately following a chemical relaxer. To cover gray hair, use demi-permanent hair color. To hide your gray roots between color services use the temporary root touch up products – like root touch up sprays, color wands, and color touch up powders.
Trimming
Keep your hair trimmed to remove dry split ends and uneven growth. Regular trims will prevent further damage to your hair. Get a trim every every 2-3 months. Trimming more often can slow down the hair growth.
Healthy Diet
In order to increase your hair’s protein content, eat healthy meals and incorporate a lot of protein rich food into your diet. Drink plenty of water to keep your hair hydrated from the inside. Your hair will be healthy, bounce and will not break easily.
How to Avoid Over-Processing
Before the next relaxer service, make sure it’s been at least 10 weeks since your last touch-up. Applying relaxing treatments more frequently could lead to breakage and thinness. When retouching, only relax your new growth. Don’t use the strongest formulations every time you get your hair relaxed.

"Make taking care of yourself part of your daily routine."
In a society that revolves around looks it is important to take care of yourself on the inside and give yourself a break from makeup, hair color and nail polish ever so often. Over the years here a few things I have learnt:
• Body and Mind o Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!!!! Using products and serums will only help so much but if you don't hydrate skin can look dull, uneven and dry o . Drinking water helps your body flush toxins making it look fresh and hydrated. I hate drinking plain water so I infuse it with fresh ginger, cucumber, mint, lime, lemon and/or oranges. These days there are water bottles with built in infusers for on the go. When I drink too much soda, coffee or alcohol it dehydrates my skin and causes breakouts. For my skin water is a must. o Eating a well balanced diet is a must. Eating foods with too much salt, sugar or oil (fried food) can also cause skin issues. Talk to a doctor or a nutritionist on what's best for you. o Vitamins are good to the skin but please check with your doctor before taking anything. o Detox from devices even if it is for 15 minutes. o If you don't have a block of time try doing 1 minute meditation several times a day. It will help calm and relax your mind and body.
• Face: o Go makeup free once in a while to give your face a break. Wearing heavy makeup everyday can clog your pores causing breakouts, dryness and dullness. I don't wear makeup on daily bases. After I cleanse and moisturize my skin in the AM there are days I go to work sans makeup. I give my face a break from all those chemicals and let it breathe. o Make sure you apply sunscreen everyday. Everyone has a different take on SPF needed. I apply SPF 50 since I did laser hair removal many years ago and have continued to use it since. With that said I think SPF 30 is good. (please check with a dermatologist or physician and patch test before using any product) o Exfoliate your skin once a week. Be careful as it can dry or irritate your skin. My rule of thumb the bigger the beads in the exfoliator the more abrasive it is. So those are a no no for my face. I look for a exfoliator with small micro beads or make my own with rice flour, ground oats and honey.
• Hair Dos and Don'ts o If you have color treated hair give yourself a break from hair color once in a while. All the chemical processing can do a number on your hair. o Use hair masks or hot oil treatments to help strengthen your hair. Wrap a hot towel on your head a bit after applying hair masks or hot oil. o Massage your scalp everyday for 5-10 minutes. It help increase circulation but gently massage using finger tips only. If you use your fingernails it can cause hair breakage. o Give your hair a break from styling tools like blow dryers, flat irons etc. If you have to use them use the lowest heat setting. Try drying your hair on the cool setting. o Give your hair and scalp a break from too many styling products and use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of built up. You can also use a DIY Apple cider vinegar and water mixture to remove build up and restore your scalps PH. o Use heat protecting products to prevent damage from styling tools. o Brush your hair before shampooing and comb with a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute conditioner. o Dry gently using a cotton T-shirt rather than a towel to dry to minimize frizz. o Hair is most vulnerable when wet so be care full of brushing and styling as it can cause breakage. o If you must comb it wet use a wide tooth comb and start from the tips and work your way up to the roots
• Hand, Feet and Nails: o I like to go sans nail polish on my fingers and toes every few months.
