What Kendrick did was send a literal message to Americans, Black Americans in particular, who already know and live to experience the racism in this country that will only grow because of this administration, that there will always be a way to preserve the history and the culture of this nation’s people who fought hard for their acknowledgment as human beings.

Like, having Samuel L. Jackson playing Uncle Sam critiquing Black American culture and behavior, the dancers forming a divided American flag in the background, the colors being used, the stage structured to look like a game board of sorts, the dancers “marching” down the street, Kendrick saying “the revolution will be televised”, emphasizing “turn his TV off” with all of the strange propaganda ads we’ve seen throughout the Super Bowl being streamed.

Kendrick has always been political in his music and unapologetic of the black experience as an American. But the fact that he performed the way he did on this big stage knowing how racist the NFL is with so many people across the country watching including our excuse of a president that’s threatening the lives of millions of people…it was just so good and powerful to see on live TV. This performance is so important, especially coming after the Grammy’s where people have been having a weeklong debate of why Beyonce’s COWBOY CARTER album deserved to win AOTY and the impact it had on validating the experiences of southern Black Americans and winning in a genre that blacklisted her…this shit is so fucking powerful man. It means so much to me truly. Kendrick you will always be famous.

eddie who co-ownes a skate shop despite having only been on skateboard twice in his life (he broke his arm the second time) but gareth loves skating more than drums, and the band never went anywhere but his skate career DID, so eddie somehow wound up taking care of gareth's shop while he travels the world breaking his bones. eddie's clientele is a pretty narrow group, until fucking steve harrington himself (his hs school crush) comes into the shop asking for a board for his daughter.

months of awkward flirting later, eddie finds out max is a big fan of gareth and that night eddie is curled around gareth's ankles chanting "please please please please please please please" and gareth throws up his hands and agrees to meet them.

that weekend eddie happily gets to hang off steve's shoulder while gareth and max are tearing up a half pipe. max is happy, so steve is happy, and gareth is impressed with max's talent and keeps getting more and more into coaching her through a few little tricks, and eddie may never get into steve's pants, but anything is worth seeing steve smile, so happy and excited for his kid and��oh fuck, eddie's in love fucking shitting fuck

meanwhile, steve spends each morning lamenting to robin as they get their bakery ready for the day how he'll die alone because eddie won't ask him out and robin keeps yelling at him, all exasperated "why don't YOU ask him out then??" and steve pouts because that's no fun

anyways one day eddie wanders into the shop not even realizing that steve works there (luckily he's doing a delivery atm), and robin sees eddie from all the way in the back and beelines it out so eddie just randomly gets accosted by the bread lesbian hissing "i need you to dick down and marry steve already or i WILL kill him, i'll drown him in the sourdough."

eddie walks back out thinking robin's some kind of prophet or psychic, he has no idea that she actually knows steve.

but who is he to argue with a fate-sayer? and he fulfills part of the prophecy that very night.

*sigh* thoughts on Nintendo's botw/totk timeline shenanigans and tomfoolery?

tbh. my maybe-unpopular opinion is that the timeline is only important when a game's place on the timeline seriously informs the way their narrative progresses. the problem is that before botw we almost NEVER got games where it didn't matter. it matters for skyward sword because it's the beginning, and it matters for tp/ww/alttp (and their respective sequels) because the choices the hero of time makes explicitly inform the narrative of those games in one way or another. it matters which timeline we're in for those games because these cycles we're seeing are close enough to oot's cycle that they're still feeling the effects of his choices. botw, however, takes place at minimum 10 thousand years after oot, so its place on the timeline actually functionally means nothing. botw is completely divorced from the hero of time & his story, so what he does is a nonissue in the context of botw link and zelda's story. thus, which timeline botw happens in is a nonissue. honestly I kind of liked the idea that it happened in all of them. i think there's a cool idea of inevitability that can be played with there. but the point is that the timeline exists to enhance and fill in the lore of games that need it, and botw/totk don't really need it because the devs finally realized they could make a game without the hero of time in it.

what I find funny is that when Charlie told Alastor to make a commercial, a video commercial, he just... went and did it. like yeah it was shitty and he was mocking the hotel but Alastor made it anyway. everyone makes the joke about him learning how to edit and film the whole thing like an old man but they seem to forget the fact that Alastor, the guy practically known for HATING modern technology, made the commercial. for her. he went and edited it. for her. he could have gone against what she asked him to and made it into a radio commercial, which would have probably gone a lot better considering it's his area of expertise, but nope! he did what she asked and he didn't even do it for a deal like he did with Vaggie.

Alastor the notorious living-only-in-the-30s radio demon saw Charlie from the "picture show" and he admits he hadn't been entertained since 1929 then proceeds to make a video commercial despite disliking the video making aspect...

but charlie mentions absentmindedly she might need something, or something might be helpful, or maybe she'd like to do random thing in the future, and alastor is tripping over himself to do it for her. oh you need a tv commercial charlie? haha i just made one for you, no big deal only took me six hours it's not because i like you or anything! you want to go for a walk into the vees territory? gosh i better come with you and hold your hand and mention how pretty you are it's vital hotelier responsibilities. you want to fight the angels and perhaps god himself? what a fantastic thing for my ego which does not act as a way for me to protect and impress you let me shine up my shoes real quick.
